Mayorkas becomes first Cabinet secretary impeached since 1876

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has been impeached by the House of Representatives.

A Cabinet secretary has not been impeached by the U.S. Congress since 1876.

The office of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said Mayorkas’ impeachment trial will begin later this month.

“The House impeachment managers will present the articles of impeachment to the Senate following the state work period,” Schumer’s office said in a statement. “Senators will be sworn in as jurors in the trial the next day. Senate President Pro Tempore Patty Murray will preside.”

Tuesday evening’s vote marked House Republicans’ second attempt at impeaching Mayorkas. GOP lawmakers targeted the Biden official over the ongoing migrant crisis at the U.S. southern border, accusing him of deliberately flaunting existing immigration law and worsening the situation.

The 214-213 vote was always expected to be tight; Mayorkas narrowly escaped impeachment last week when every single House Democrat showed up to shield him, including Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, who temporarily left the hospital where he was recovering from surgery to cast his vote.

Three Republicans also voted down the effort: Reps. Mike Gallagher, R-Wis., Ken Buck, R-Colo., and Tom McClintock, R-Calif.

HOUSE FAILS TO IMPEACH DHS SECRETARY ALEJANDRO MAYORKAS IN MAJOR BLOW TO GOP

Each criticized Mayorkas’ handling of the border but had reservations over whether it rose to the level of impeachment. McClintock warned it could set a precedent for political impeachments that could harm GOP officials in the future.

“Swapping one leftist for another is a fantasy, solves nothing, excuses Biden’s culpability, and unconstitutionally expands impeachment that someday will bite Republicans,” McClintock said last week.

However, Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., dismissed any concerns about precedent in comments to reporters hours before the vote on Tuesday.

“Mayorkas is an exceptional case in U.S. history,” Johnson said, accusing him of having done more “damage on the country than any Cabinet secretary that’s ever been.”

He also addressed the very likely scenario that the impeachment would go nowhere in the Democrat-held Senate.

HERE ARE THE 3 HOUSE REPUBLICANS WHO TORPEDOED MAYORKAS’ IMPEACHMENT VOTE

“The House has a constitutional responsibility, as I’ve said many times. It’s probably the heaviest next to a declaration of war. And we have to do our job regardless of what the other chamber does,” Johnson said.

Two impeachment articles were approved against Mayorkas by the House Homeland Security Committee. One accused him of having “refused to comply with Federal immigration laws” and the other of having violated “public trust.”

The Department of Homeland Security criticized House Republicans for holding a second Mayorkas impeachment vote on Tuesday, citing comments by GOP lawmakers who have called the effort a waste of time.

OVER 40 LAWMAKERS SIGN BRIEF TO SUPPORT TEXAS IN IMMIGRATION FIGHT WITH BIDEN ADMINISTRATION

“House Republicans’ baseless push to impeach Secretary Mayorkas has already failed once, with bipartisan opposition. If Members of Congress care about our national security, they should listen to their fellow Republicans and stop wasting time on this pointless, unconstitutional impeachment – time that could be spent addressing the issue by advancing bipartisan legislation to fix our broken immigration laws and provide needed resources for border security,” the department said.

A DHS spokesperson said House Republicans “will be remembered by history for trampling on the Constitution for political gain rather than working to solve the serious challenges at our border.”

“While Secretary Mayorkas was helping a group of Republican and Democratic Senators develop bipartisan solutions to strengthen border security and get needed resources for enforcement, House Republicans have wasted months with this baseless, unconstitutional impeachment,” the spokesperson said.

“Without a shred of evidence or legitimate Constitutional grounds, and despite bipartisan opposition, House Republicans have falsely smeared a dedicated public servant who has spent more than 20 years enforcing our laws and serving our country. Secretary Mayorkas and the Department of Homeland Security will continue working every day to keep Americans safe.”

President Biden said that “history will not look kindly on House Republicans for their blatant act of unconstitutional partisanship that has targeted an honorable public servant in order to play petty political games.”

“This impeachment already failed on a bipartisan vote. Instead of staging political stunts like this, Republicans with genuine concerns about the border should want Congress to deliver more border resources and stronger border security.”

Biden refuses to take questions during White House address attacking Trump

President Biden explicitly told reporters on Tuesday he was not taking questions during remarks he made at the White House following last week’s explosive press conference.

“I’m not going to be taking any questions, but I’ll be taking questions tomorrow or the next day,” Biden said as he approached the podium. “But I don’t want anything to get in the way of this statement.”

Biden stuck to the script for roughly eight minutes, speaking about the Senate passing the $95 billion foreign aid package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, and urging House Republicans to pass the bill. He railed against those opposing the bill, saying they’re “playing into Putin’s hands.”

He also attacked former President Trump for his recent comments about not protecting NATO allies from Russia if they haven’t paid their commitments.

BIDEN LASHES OUT AT REPORTERS ASKING ABOUT AGE CONCERNS AFTER SPECIAL COUNSEL REPORT: ‘THAT’S YOUR JUDGMENT!’

Biden typically ends his speeches with “May God protect our troops.” This time he said, “God bless you all. May God protect our speaker.”

“And I promise I’ll come back and answer questions later. Thank you,” Biden added before walking away.

The president’s refusal to take questions comes just days after he lashed out at several reporters following the release of Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report that fueled more questions about his mental acuity.

At a last-minute prime-time White House press conference Thursday evening, Biden took questions from reporters, with many exchanges turning combative.

Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy was the first to catch Biden’s attention.

“Something the special counsel said in his report is that one of the reasons you were not charged is because, in his description, you are a ‘well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,'” Doocy said.

MEDIA FUME OVER SCATHING REPORT THAT FUELED QUESTIONS ABOUT BIDEN’S MENTAL ACUITY: ‘THIS IS AGEISM’

“I’m well-meaning, and I’m an elderly man and I know what the hell I’m doing,” Biden responded. “I’ve been president and I put this country back on its feet. I don’t need his recommendation —”

“How bad is your memory? And can you continue as president?” Doocy asked.

“My memory is so bad I let you speak,” Biden shot back.

Washington Post reporter Tyler Pager asked Biden whether he was concerned that the report would “fuel further concern about your age,” to which Biden swiped, “Only by some of you.”

The president later got into a combative exchange with CNN correspondent MJ Lee, who pressed him on his previous comments urging Americans to “watch me” when he’s asked about his age.

“Many [of the] American people have been watching, and they have expressed concerns about your age,” Lee said.

“That is your judgment!” Biden shouted at her. “That is your judgment! That is not the judgment of the press.”

BILL MAHER SAYS BIDEN CAN BE SWITCHED OUT AT DNC CONVENTION: HE SOLD HIMSELF AS A ‘ONE-TERM’ PRESIDENT

“They’ve expressed concerns about your mental acuity,” Lee continued. “They say that you’re too old. Mr. President, you told me in December that you believe there are many Democrats who could defeat Donald Trump. So, why does it have to be you now?”

“Because I’m the most qualified person in this country to be president of the United States and finish the job I started,” Biden responded.

In the same press conference, Biden made headlines for mistakenly mixing up Egypt’s president with Mexico’s when discussing the Israel-Gaza war.

Hur, who was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate Biden’s handling of classified documents, concluded he would not bring charges against Biden in part because a jury would find him to be a “sympathetic, well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory,” despite the acknowledgment that the documents were “willfully” obtained by Biden both as vice president and as a senator.

Hur’s report also revealed that Biden had a “hazy” memory about when he was previously in office and when his son, Beau, died.

These revelations, in addition to his recent slew of gaffes, continue to fuel concerns among voters that 81-year-old Biden is too old to seek a second term, which polls have repeatedly shown.

Gang members arrested for machete attacks that left 8 dead in tourist hot spot

Mexican authorities say they have arrested six members of a drug gang in connection to the brutal slaying of at least eight people in Cancun.

Officials said the arrests were made after the discovery of five dismembered bodies inside a taxi on Jan. 29. The victims were not identified by the attorney general’s office for the state of Quintana Roo.

Prosecutors alleged the six suspects hacked up five people with a machete and dumped three other victims in a shallow grave. Mexican police seized drugs from the group, including marijuana, cocaine and crack, as well as two firearms exclusively used by the military, two motorcycles allegedly used to transport the mutilated bodies, and two cars, including one that was reported stolen, authorities said.

The attorney general’s office also announced the arrest of 23 people who allegedly operated a fake tour agency as cover for a drug operation in Cancun.

2 MEXICAN TAXI DRIVERS ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT ON TOURIST VAN IN CANCUN

The drug ring allegedly operated a “call center” that offered tourist trips and sports equipment in the popular resort city on Mexico’s Caribbean coast. That business served as a facade to carry out activities related to drug dealing, prosecutors said. Drug deals would allegedly be made over the phone and then delivered via motorcycle.

A day earlier, prosecutors confirmed that an American woman and a man from Belize were shot to death on Feb. 9 in an apparent dispute between drug dealers at a beach club in the resort city of Tulum, south of Cancun.

The Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office said the woman had no connection to the man, an alleged drug dealer, and was unfortunately caught in the crossfire.

Prosecutors said the dead man had transparent bags containing white powder that resembled cocaine on his person, transparent bags with red and orange pills, and a transparent bag containing brown granulated powder. They have identified suspects in the shooting who are now wanted by authorities.

MEXICO CRACKS DOWN ON 23 PILL-PUSHING PHARMACIES AT CARIBBEAN RESORTS AFTER US TRAVEL WARNING

The illegal drug trade is a source of ongoing violence and danger to tourists in the state of Quintana Roo.

Last year, Mexican authorities closed down 23 pharmacies at Caribbean coast resorts after a research report warned that drug stores were selling fake opioids to foreigners.

Officials said a four-day raid targeted drugstores in Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum that were accused of pushing pills passed off as oxycodone, Percocet and Adderall without prescriptions.

The raid came months after the U.S. State Department warned travelers about counterfeit pills sold at pharmacies in Mexico that often contain fentanyl.

Other foreign tourists have been killed while visiting resorts near Cancun.

In 2021 in Tulum, two tourists — one German and a California travel blogger born in India — were killed while eating at a restaurant. They apparently were caught in the crossfire of a gunfight between rival drug dealers.

Last year, the U.S. State Department issued a travel alert warning travelers to “exercise increased situational awareness,” especially after dark, at Mexico’s Caribbean beach resorts like Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum.

Even so, Mexico’s tourism industry is booming along the Caribbean coast. Government figures show foreign tourists spent almost $31 billion in Mexico in 2023, an increase of 10% from 2022. Nearly half of all foreigners who travel to Mexico go to Cancun.

Taylor Swift got Kanye West ‘kicked out’ of Super Bowl, ex-NFL star says

An A-list celebrity rivalry that began almost 15 years ago is apparently still going strong.

On Sept. 13, 2009, Taylor Swift, then 19 years old, was accepting the MTV Video Music Award for the Best Female Video in “You Belong With Me.”

During her speech, she was infamously interrupted by Kanye West, who shocked the world with a few sentences.

“Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I [will] let you finish,” he began. “But Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!”

West was referencing Beyonce’s video for “Single Ladies,” and the audience booed as Swift was clearly flustered. West was removed from the show and “Single Ladies” wound up winning Video of the Year — yet the R&B artist brought Swift on stage so she could finish her speech.

Well, Swift apparently hasn’t forgotten about that.

Swift was at the Super Bowl this past weekend in support of her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, whose Kansas City Chiefs won, 25-22, in overtime for their second straight title.

The suites at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas were filled with A-listers, including Swift and, apparently, West was supposed to be one.

PATRICK MAHOMES JOINS ELITE COMPANY AFTER BEING NAMED SUPER BOWL MVP FOR THIRD TIME

But former NFL star Brandon Marshall says Swift actually had the rapper booted from the stadium.

“Kanye West pulls up to Vegas. Kanye West buys a ticket right in front of [Taylor Swift]’s booth,” Marshall said on the “I Am Athlete” podcast. “Taylor Swift gets pissed off. She boom boom makes a call or two. Everybody’s involved. He gets kicked out the stadium. He was trying to leverage her celebrity.”

West rapped about the VMA incident in his 2016 hit song “Famous,” saying the incident made Swift famous.

“I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b—- famous,” he rapped. The song was nominated for a Grammy.

Kelce had nine receptions for 93 yards in the Super Bowl, and Swift celebrated with him on the field postgame. She, Kelce, Patrick Mahomes and other members of the Chiefs celebrated at an after-party held at Zouk in Las Vegas.

California Dem calls for $50 minimum wage: ‘Just do the math’

A Monday night debate in California between several candidates vying for an open Senate seat included a question about raising the minimum wage to $50, an idea that one Democrat candidate has floated.

“In the Bay Area, I believe it was the United Way that came out with a report that very recently $127,000 for a family of four is just barely enough to get by,” Democrat Congresswoman Barbara Lee said when asked to defend her previous support of a $50 minimum wage and explain how it would be “sustainable.”

“Another survey very recently, $104,000; for a family of one, barely enough to get by, low income because of the affordability crisis.”

Lee has previously called for a $50 minimum wage, which would amount to around $104,000 per year of income. The federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour and ranges from $16 to $20 in California.

FAST-FOOD PRICES SET TO RISE AT MCDONALD’S, CHIPOTLE AND OTHERS AS CALIFORNIA MINIMUM WAGE HIKE LOOMS

“Just do the math. Of course, we have national minimum wages that we need to raise to a living wage,” Lee continued. “We’re talking about $20, $25 — fine. But I have got to be focused on what California needs and what the affordability factor is when we calculate this wage.”

Former baseball star Steve Garvey, the only Republican on the stage, told the moderators that the minimum wage “is where it is and should be.”

“If you look at what California has done to fast-food franchises right now, increasing the minimum wage to $20, and what’s going to happen,” Garvey said. “That’s going to increase costs for hardworking Californians to go to a franchise to get a Big Mac for $9, it’s going to be $15.”

LOS ANGELES DESSERT SHOP ANNOUNCES SUDDEN CLOSURE OF LOCATIONS, CITES COST OF BUSINESS IN CALIFORNIA

Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff took issue with Garvey’s statement and said that so many people are living on the street because they are being paid “poverty wages.”

“Try to find a house anywhere in California when you’re earning minimum wage,” Schiff told Garvey. “We have to raise people’s incomes.”

SOME GOP LAWMAKERS WANT TO RAISE THE FEDERAL MINIMUM WAGE — BUT ONLY FOR VERIFIABLE AMERICAN CITIZENS

Schiff and fellow Democrat candidate Katie Porter have floated support for minimum wages ranging from $20 to $25 per hour.

California passed legislation last fall that will require a $20 per hour minimum wage at all restaurants with at least 60 locations nationwide, though the law includes an exception for restaurants that make and sell their own bread.

Several major fast-food franchises, including McDonald’s and Chipotle, have already signaled that prices will have to rise in response to the increased labor costs.

MOST ECONOMISTS OPPOSE THE $15 PER HOUR MINIMUM WAGE – HERE’S THE STUNNING REASON WHY

As businesses consider passing costs on to consumers, Fat Brands Chair Andy Wiederhorn recently said that “someone’s got to pay” for the jump in wages.

“The consumers who are voters must have known what they were getting into by promoting this legislation to raise the minimum wage from $15 to $20 and on its way to $25,” Wiederhorn told Fox Business this month.

“Everyone wants their employees to make more money, but it just costs. And someone’s got to pay for it. And the restaurant operators don’t have the margin for that. So, prices are going to go up.”

A 2021 Harvard Business Review study found that raising the minimum wage actually leads to lower compensation for employees.

In addition to companies being forced to raise prices, many economists have also warned that companies will be forced to cut jobs, which often ends up disproportionately hurting low-wage income earners, the very group supporters of raising the minimum wage are aiming to help.

“Apologists for the minimum wage routinely claim that increasing it will help low-income workers and have no negative effects,” E.J. Antoni, a research fellow in regional economics with the Heritage Foundation’s Center for Data Analysis, told FOX Business about raising the minimum wage last year.

“They often cite corporate greed as the only reason for relatively low wages in places like the fast-food industry. In reality, raising the minimum wage reduces employment and causes the higher cost of labor to be passed on to customers. Because low-income workers disproportionately buy fast food (like McDonald’s), they disproportionately bear the cost of not only the more expensive labor but also the lower employment levels.”

Antoni continued, “That fact exposes the reality that the true minimum wage is, and always has been, zero. For the worker that loses his or her job because of a higher minimum wage, they now have no income and higher food prices.”

Impeachment inquiry heats up after bombshell testimony from ex-Biden associate

Hunter Biden’s ex-business associate Tony Bobulinski testified that Joe Biden is “the Big Guy” and said the president “continues to lie” to the American people about his involvement in his son’s business dealings.

Bobulinski, who worked with Hunter Biden to create the joint-venture SinoHawk Holdings with Chinese energy company CEFC, and said he met with Joe Biden in 2017, provided “unshakeable” testimony behind closed doors at the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees Tuesday.

JOE BIDEN ‘ENABLED’ FAMILY TO SELL ACCESS TO ‘DANGEROUS ADVERSARIES,’ TONY BOBULINSKI TESTIFIES

His testimony, which came as part of the House impeachment inquiry against President Biden, lasted for more than eight hours.

A source familiar with his testimony told Fox News Digital that he testified that he “personally met” with Biden in May 2017 in Los Angeles on the sidelines of the Milken Conference for somewhere between 45 minutes and an hour.

Fox News Digital first reported on that meetings between Bobulinski and Biden in October 2020.

Joe Biden, on May 3, 2017, spoke at the conference, hosting “A Conversation with the 47th Vice President of the United States Joe Biden.”

Just days after the May 2, 2017, meeting, the now-infamous May 13, 2017, email, which included a discussion of “remuneration packages” for six people in a business deal with a Chinese energy firm. The email appeared to identify Biden as “Chair / Vice Chair depending on agreement with CEFC,” in a reference to now-bankrupt CEFC China Energy Co.

The email includes a note that “Hunter has some office expectations he will elaborate.” A proposed equity split references “20” for “H” and “10 held by H for the big guy?” with no further details.

FLASHBACK: HUNTER BIDEN BUSINESS ASSOCIATE’S TEXT MESSAGES INDICATE MEETING WITH JOE BIDEN

Bobulinski testified Tuesday that Joe Biden is “the big guy.”

Bobulinski has, since 2020, said “the big guy” was Joe Biden. But IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, who claimed that politics had influenced the yearslong federal investigation into Hunter Biden, also said “the big guy” was known to be Joe Biden.

Meanwhile, Bobulinski testified that from his “direct personal experience,” it is “clear” that Joe Biden was “‘the Brand’ being sold by the Biden family.’”

“His family’s foreign influence peddling operation—from China to Ukraine and elsewhere—sold out to foreign actors who were seeking to gain influence and access to Joe Biden and the United States government,” Bobulinski said in his opening statement, exclusively obtained by Fox News Digital.

“Joe Biden was more than a participant in and beneficiary of his family’s business; he was an enabler, despite being buffered by a complex scheme to maintain plausible deniability,” Bobulinski said. “The only reason any of these international business transactions took place—with tens of millions of dollars flowing directly to the Biden family—was because Joe Biden was in high office.”

Bobulinski added: “The Biden family business was Joe Biden, period.”

Bobulinski served in the U.S. Navy’s Naval Nuclear Power Training Command as a decorated master training specialist instructor; the Command’s chief technology officer, holding “Q security clearance” from the Energy Department and from the National Security Agency; and later served as a direct input officer for the command in his final Navy Fitness Report.

Another source familiar with Bobulinski’s testimony told Fox News Digital that he told committee investigators that Jim Biden, the president’s brother, was never concerned about the optics of Joe Biden’s involvement in the family’s foreign business dealings, saying he could claim “plausible deniability.”

Bobulinski also told congressional lawmakers that he was never approached by the Justice Department, or Special Counsel David Weiss, to answer questions or provide testimony on anything related to the Bidens.

“Tony Bobulinski articulated under oath that Joe Biden was ‘the brand’ the Bidens sold to enrich the family,” House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said in a statement after Bobulinski’s testimony. “Joe Biden not only knew about his family’s dealings with a Chinese Communist Party linked energy company, but he also enabled them and participated in them. Tony Bobulinski testified he believes Joe Biden committed wrongdoing and continues to lie to the American people about his participation in his family’s influence peddling schemes.”

BOBULINSKI OFFERED TO TESTIFY AT HUNTER BIDEN GRAND JURY BUT ‘NEVER HEARD BACK’: SOURCE

Comer went on to say Bobulinski “was unshakeable in his testimony today, providing facts Democrats didn’t want to hear.”

“As such, Democrats put on a shameful display as they yelled at Mr. Bobulinski, cut him off, belittled him, and threatened him,

“Comer said, blasting his Democratic colleagues for  “behavior that I’ve frankly never seen before in a transcribed interview.”

Comer said he will “soon release the transcript to provide the American people with transparency about Joe Biden’s involvement in his family’s shady schemes and Democrats’ efforts to smear him for blowing the whistle.”

But the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, Jamie Raskin, D-Md., said Bobulinski “offers absolutely no testimony that indicates any criminal activity by President Biden… or evidence that President Biden was involved in Hunter Biden’s businesses.”

Meanwhile, as Bobulinski left Capitol Hill Tuesday, he turned to reporters and said: “It was a great day for the American people.”

Next up before the committee as part of the impeachment inquiry is the president’s brother, Jim Biden, on Feb. 21. Hunter Biden is expected to appear for his deposition on Feb. 28.

California school cuts ties with ‘Woke Kindergarten’ program after backlash

A San Francisco Bay-area school has cut ties with “Woke Kindergarten” after nationwide backlash against the program’s curriculum and its founder’s statements.

Glassbrook Elementary spent $250,000 in federal funds meant to help boost test scores for some of the country’s lowest-performing schools on the program, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, but after two years with Woke Kindergarten, students’ scores are reportedly worse.

The head of Woke Kindergarten, Akiea “Ki” Gross, has shared social media posts indicating she thinks America and Israel have “no right to exist” and wants to see the world “free of” those countries. “Y’all are the villains. We’ve been trying to end y’all,” she wrote of them.

Hayward Unified School District (HUSD) spokesman Michael Bazeley told Fox News Digital the school terminated its contract with Woke Kindergarten on Monday and specified the consultant was never an employee.

STUDENTS AT CALIFORNIA SCHOOL STRUGGLING AFTER $250K IN FEDERAL FUNDS SPENT ON ‘WOKE KINDERGARTEN’ PROGRAM

Bazeley said HUSD had become aware of certain “statements by Woke Kindergarten staff,” and, “Although we respect freedom of speech and the right for individuals to hold a variety of political views, the social media and other public statements of the vendor do not align with the values of the district and those of many of our community members.”

“The personal political and social views are separate from the work Woke Kindergarten did with us,” Bazeley said.

Woke Kindergarten describes itself on its website as “supporting children, families, educators and organizations in their commitment to abolitionist early education and pro-black and queer and trans liberation.” The organization also has “Woke” words of the day like “ceasefire” “abolish” and “Woke Wonderings” about challenging the “legitimacy of the Supreme Court” and abolishing the police, money and the military.

Even though the school is parting ways with this particular vendor, it is still pursuing “anti-racist” education.

ANTI-CAPITALIST TEACHER PROMOTES ANARCHY, ‘LOVES’ WHEN STUDENTS HAVE ‘NO RESPECT FOR AUTHORITY’

“We will continue to support Glassbrook Elementary School as its teachers, staff and administrators proceed with the work of supporting the students and families in the school community,” Bazeley said. “Anti-bias/Anti-racist teaching, restorative practices, multi-language learning, literacy and mathematics will remain a focus for Glassbrook, building on the work that school has undertaken over the past several years.”

The spokesman said that even as the district terminates the contract, it still asserts that the Woke Kindergarten curriculum was mischaracterized.

“The controversy over this program—including the widespread media attention, the mischaracterization of the Woke Kindergarten work, social media posts by the vendor, and the public response—is all distracting the district from doing the important work of supporting our students,” he said. “We concluded that now was an appropriate time to terminate the contract.”

The school has reportedly received “threatening and racist” messages in the wake of the news coverage.

On Thursday, a Glassbrook Elementary teacher, who publicly criticized his school district’s investment in “Woke Kindergarten,” reported he had been placed on administrative leave over “allegations of unprofessional conduct.”

Bazeley told Fox News Digital at the time, “We don’t comment on private personnel matters,” but denied the teacher was put on leave for “retaliatory purposes” or that he was being punished for speaking to the press.

200-year-old painting of George Washington swiped from storage unit

A painting of George Washington that dates back to the 1800s was stolen from an Englewood, Colorado, storage unit last month, police announced on Tuesday.

Police believe the painting was stolen in the middle of the night on Jan. 10, but the theft wasn’t discovered right away.

“It’s not often that we have historical artifacts or historical art pieces stolen from this city,” Crystal Essman with the Englewood Police Department told Fox 31 Denver.

The portrait has been owned by the family for 50 years and was created in the early 1800s, according to police. It is approximately 24 inches by 30 inches and is in a gold frame.

Navy wife surprises husband with newborn daughter during airport reunion

A military wife recently surprised her husband with their week-old baby after his boot camp training kept him hundreds of miles away.

Ashleigh Rodriguez Paez, of Pensacola, Florida, told Fox News Digital that she gave birth to her daughter, Lyla Hadassah, on Feb. 1.

At the time, her husband was going through Navy boot camp training in Great Lakes, Illinois.

Her husband, Roger Rodriguez Paez, who hails from Venezuela, officially became a U.S. citizen on the exact day that their little Lyla was born.

He also graduated from boot camp this past Thursday.

Talk about major life milestones: Roger Rodriguez Paez became a father, a U.S. citizen and a Navy sailor all in a week’s time.

Ashleigh Rodriguez Paez explained that both she and her husband were hoping for a baby girl.

The couple decided to do things the old-fashioned way — and waited to find out the gender of the baby until the big day.

“We didn’t know if it was going to be a boy or a girl, but we both really wanted a girl,” she said.

The first-time mom had a difficult delivery, but ultimately delivered a healthy baby girl. First checking in with medical professionals, Ashleigh Rodriguez Paez — who works as a labor and delivery nurse — decided to make the trek to see her husband.

She said she ran it by the baby’s pediatrician and another doctor, and they both approved of the trip.

“They both were like, ‘Yeah, that’s fine. Just keep her covered. Don’t let people come and touch her,'” she said.

On the day that Roger Rodriguez Paez graduated, the couple met at an airport in Chicago.

Heartwarming video showed the couple embracing before the new dad held his daughter for the first time.

“When he saw us, he was running through the airport, and he gave me a hug,” Ashleigh Rodriguez Paez said. “And then I gave him Lyla … It was magic in his eyes.”

“I guess that’s super cheesy, but he was just so blown away,” she said.

The new mom was told that she would love her spouse even more when she saw him as a parent. Speaking to Fox News Digital, she said she can confirm that, for her, the idea does indeed ring true.

“That was like a moment for me, watching him with her for the first time… because it kind of felt like I was a single parent, in a sense,” she said.

“So it was very much reassuring when I finally got them together, and he finally got to meet her, and then we could have moments together as a family.”

She emphasized that her husband’s absence from her delivery was just as difficult for him as it was for her.

“This is a huge sacrifice for him, for him to go away,” she said.

“He’s not alone. You know, there’s other men in his division when he was graduating, going through the same thing… It’s just amazing what these Navy sailors and other military people do for their families.”
