Major donor pulls financial backing from Haley’s campaign, sees no path forward

AFP Action, the conservative wing of the powerful and influential conservative Americans for Prosperity, funded by the billionaire Koch Brothers, has pulled funding for the presidential campaign of Nikki Haley.

In an email to staffers obtained by Fox News, AFP Action senior adviser Emily Seidel said the group did not believe that “any outside group can make a material difference to widen [Haley’s] path to victory.”

“And so while we will continue to endorse her, we will focus our resources where we can make the difference. And that’s the U.S. Senate and House,” Seidel wrote.

The news was first reported by Politico earlier Sunday.

AFP Action endorsed Haley in November, giving her a major grassroots and organizational boost.

The deep-pocketed fiscally conservative network launched an ad blitz on behalf of Haley in January, including mailers, digital ads, and connected TV spots.

AFP Action, which pledged to spend tens of millions of dollars to help push the Republican Party past former President Trump as it endorsed Haley in late November, said last month it was putting an initial $27 million behind this new wave in their ongoing campaign.

TOP HIGHLIGHTS FROM SOUTH CAROLINA’S GOP PRIMARY WHERE TRUMP WON BIG, HALEY VOWED TO PRESS ON

The news came after Haley’s GOP rival, former President Trump, won the GOP primary in Haley’s home state of South Carolina on Saturday.

Despite the loss, and defying calls to exit the race, Haley has said it’s not the “end of our story” as she traveled Sunday to Michigan ahead of the state’s primary on Tuesday.

In the less than 24 hours following her Saturday night loss, Haley’s campaign said that she had raised $1 million “from grassroots supporters alone,” Fox News previously reported.

EUROPEAN NATIONS HAVE TO START PAYING UP: DONALD TRUMP

Haley’s campaign argued that the money raised “demonstrates Haley’s staying power and her appeal to broad swaths of the American public.”

Asked Sunday about losing funding from AFP Action, Haley said she was “not worried.”

“Americans for Prosperity was an amazing partner. They strongly believe in freedom. They believe in limited government. They believe in all the things that I, as a conservative, believe. And they’ve been fantastic through these states,” Haley said, vowing to continue fighting “for the 70% of Americans that don’t want to see a Trump-Biden rematch.”

With his win Saturday in the first-in-the South contest, Trump has now swept every primary or caucus on the GOP early-season calendar that awards delegates. His performances have left little maneuvering room for Haley, his former U.N. ambassador.

Still, Haley insists she is sticking around even with the growing pressure to abandon her candidacy and let Trump focus entirely on Democratic President Joe Biden, in a 2020 rematch.

Wife of student murder suspect speaks out after ICE confirms illegal status, prior NYC arrest

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Sunday confirmed that the Venezuelan national charged in connection with the murder of 22-year-old Georgia nursing student Laken Riley entered the U.S. illegally in 2022 and had previously been arrested in New York City.

Fox News had previously reported that 26-year-old Jose Antonio Ibarra, charged with the murder of Riley on the University of Georgia campus, had crossed into the U.S. illegally near El Paso in September 2022 and was paroled into the U.S.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, ICE confirmed he had been encountered by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on Sept. 8, 2022, after entering near El Paso and was “paroled and released for further processing.”

ICE also confirmed that Ibarra had been arrested by the New York Police Department a year later, on Sept. 14, 2023, and “charged with acting in a manner to injure a child less than 17 and a motor vehicle license violation.”

GEORGIA STUDENT MURDER SUSPECT CONFIRMED TO BE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT

When ICE learns that what it believes to be a removable illegal immigrant has been arrested on criminal charges, the agency will normally lodge a detainer – a request asking local law enforcement to keep the suspect in custody until they can be transferred to ICE and put into deportation proceedings.

BROTHER OF UGA MURDER SUSPECT CHARGED WITH GREEN CARD FRAUD

In this case, however, ICE’s statement says Ibarra was released before a detainer could be issued. NYC is also a “sanctuary city,” which generally restricts law enforcement from complying with ICE detainers.

In its statement, ICE said that its Enforcement and Removal Operations office in Atlanta “encountered Ibarra pursuant to his arrest by the University of Georgia Police Department and being charged with murder and other crimes. ERO Atlanta lodged a detainer.”

LAKEN RILEY CASE: GEORGIA AUTHORITIES IDENTIFY MURDER SUSPECT IN CUSTODY IN NURSING STUDENT’S SLAYING

Layling Franco, 23, of Venezuela, the wife of Ibarra, told the New York Post that she and her 5-year-old son were in the El Paso facility for five days before they made the journey to New York.

“We got married so we could join our asylum cases,” she told the Post. “He was the person I thought I could see through. We’ve known each other our entire lives.”

Franco, who is not accused of any wrongdoing regarding the case, said Ibarra was a calm person and that he left New York because he wanted to get a better job in Georgia.

“He wasn’t aggressive, none of that,” she told the outlet. “We had problems as a couple, but our problems weren’t physical. We wouldn’t punch, but we’d raise our voices.”

She told the Post that she’s seeing news of the crime “everywhere.”

“I want to talk to [Jose],” she said. “I have a lot of faith that this wasn’t him, that there was a misunderstanding somewhere. But if he did, he has to pay for what he did, truly.”

LAKEN RILEY MURDER SUSPECT JOSE IBARRA LIVED WITHIN 5-MINUTE WALK OF UGA CRIME SCENE

Riley, an Augusta University nursing student, was found dead Thursday after previously attending UGA before entering a nursing program at Augusta’s Athens campus, where she made the dean’s list.

Police have charged Ibarra with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, hindering a 911 call and concealing the death of another, authorities said on Friday.

Ibarra appeared in court on Saturday morning, when Clarke County Magistrate Judge Donarell Green denied his bond “for today.” Two translators were present. Ibarra nodded when spoken to.

Ibarra’s brother, Diego, was charged Friday with possessing a fraudulent green card and is being held in state custody. The federal arrest affidavit for Diego Ibarra says that in September 2023, Athens-Clarke County Police charged him with drunken driving and driving without a license. He was later arrested for shoplifting and later skipped court.

Man hears from thousands offering advice after wife went on girls’ trip and cheated on him

More than 4,500 people have reacted so far and some 4,000 have commented on a man’s social media post over the weekend in which he announced that he is not going to forgive his “cheating wife” after she went away on a “girls’ trip” and wound up with another man.

Indicating his personal turmoil, however, he labeled his post, “Am I wrong for not giving my cheating wife another chance?”

Sharing his story on the Reddit page known as “Am I wrong,” the man said he’s 39 years old and his wife is 33.

MAN ON REDDIT IS STUNNED WHEN HIS WIFE DEMANDS MORE HELP AROUND THE HOUSE: ‘I DO THE BEST I CAN’

The couple have been together for 14 years, said “HippoOK9111,” have been married for 10 years and have a 7-year-old daughter.

He said that recently she “went away on a girls’ trip. I was not worried at all. I have never had a reason to distrust her.”

The man said she’s “never done anything to give me a cause for concern — and it’s not like she was even going abroad.”

He added, “She was going to a Butlins half an hour away,” referencing a seaside resort chain in the U.K

He noted that she “went with her sister and a few other girls.”

“She [had] only been away one night of a three-night trip.”

That wasn’t the end of it, though.

He wrote, “She called me up this morning, and I didn’t expect anything other than her checking in. She [had] only been away one night of a three-night trip.”

However, when the man answered the phone, he said his wife “was crying, and incoherent.”

He said, “When I finally calmed her down, she told me she had slept with someone else the night before.”

The Reddit poster shared all the details that his wife apparently relayed to him.

The couple apparently “flirted a little, and danced together, and she thought that was as far as it would go. But he supposedly just charmed her into a kiss, which turned to making out, which turned to her asking him to walk her back to her hotel — which turned into them having sex.”

WEDDING IS WRECKED WHEN GUEST MISIDENTIFIES THE BRIDE: ‘GOT UPSET AND STARTED CRYING’

He went on in some detail, adding that the man in question “is supposedly 10 years younger than her, and she said she lied and told him she was going through a divorce. She says she doesn’t know what came over her, and she just wanted to ‘see if she still had it’ but got carried away.”

“Am I wrong for not even considering forgiving her?”

The husband said, “I want to leave her. She’s begging me not to, offering marriage counseling, never going out again, never drinking again, etc.”

He noted, “I’ve always been a ‘one chance’ sort of guy. I just told her to go f— herself and have been ignoring her … Now her friends and sister are calling me, too.”

He continued, “I just want them all to leave me alone.”

The husband said that when he told his mother about the drama “she said I should ‘think of my family’ and that my wife seems genuinely remorseful and didn’t try and hide anything, and came clean straight away. That it’s ‘not like she had an affair.’”

Added the husband, “I feel like I’m insane. Am I wrong for not even considering forgiving her?”

In a long update to his original post, the man told others in part, “As for my mother, she still thinks I should forgive her … She loves her. And she just wants everything to be OK.”

He also wrote, “My daughter has no idea what is happening … I still have no idea what I’m going to do. Honestly, I’m still reeling.”

Among the comments posted from others on the site was this opinion, which represented the way many other people felt: “Say bye … It will happen again and again and again if you let it.”

Wrote another person with a completely different point of view, which was also seconded by others: “Marriage counseling for sure. It is possible to get past this.”

And this commenter took a more middle-of-the-road view of the situation: “Take some time and seriously think everything through. No need to make a decision right now if it just happened. You’ll feel different emotions every day and each week that passes.”

Added that same commenter, “Let time filter out your disgust, anger, disappointment and every other emotion and see what’s truly left.”

Licensed clinical psychologist Kathy Nickerson — who has presented marriage and relationship advice at more than 70 conferences, according to her website — believes that “most people who cheat [on a partner] are trying to deal with some pain they’re experiencing.”

She also wrote on her blog that those who have been betrayed by a spouse or partner may “feel shocked, devastated, betrayed, horrified, blind-sided and profoundly hurt.”

The California-based psychologist noted that people “can get through this … This doesn’t mean your partner doesn’t love you. You are not going crazy. You are just very, very hurt.”

Former ICE director vows to make 2024 elections about border security

A former Director of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is working to make the border crisis the central issue of the 2024 Election, arguing that the current situation at the border is the worst he has ever seen.

“In my nearly 35 years of service under both Democrats and Republicans, I’ve never seen it this bad,” Tom Homan, a former police officer and border patrol agent who served as the acting Director of ICE from 2017-2018 under former President Donald Trump, told Fox News Digital. “But fortunately, we know how to fix it. If we can make 2024 the border security election and come together to do some very specific things, we’ll get this border shut down in 120 days.”

The comments come as Homan and others have launched BORDERS911, Inc, a 501(c)(4) advocacy organization that is seeking to make the border the defining issue of 2024. At the center of the effort is a pledge, which the organization hopes to get signed by both voters and candidates in order to push for policy commitments such as the end of catch and release, ending asylum fraud, reforming legal immigration procedures, and reinstating Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy.

The new organization is also being lead by Derek Maltz, a former Director of the DEA’s Special Operations Division.

NYC SPENDING $53M ON MIGRANT PREPAID DEBIT CARDS WITH 1 IN 4 KIDS LIVING IN POVERTY

“We’re facing a country-ending crisis, and this pledge will be a critical tool for focusing the debate. Citizens need to be plugged in like never before, and candidates must be specific and firm in their commitments. The time for empty promises and political games is over,” Maltz told Fox News Digital. “The Mexican Cartels have formed a strong partnership with Chinese Criminal Networks and are flooding the country with historic amounts of deadly fentanyl. America is now facing the worst drug crisis in our history, and I have never seen so many citizens in my 28-year DEA career dying from these poisonous chemical substances.”

The pledge effort comes as border security and immigration issues already promises to be a key concern among voters in the upcoming election, with both Republicans and Democrats attempting to position themselves as better suited to handle the crisis.

According to a report from Politico Wednesday, President Biden is considering several new executive actions and federal regulations designed to stop the flow of migrants at the southern border. Among the ideas being floated by the administration is to ban migrants from seeking asylum between U.S. ports of entry, according to the report, which notes that the administration may seek to attach such a policy to a trigger that would come into effect only after a certain number of illegal crossings take place.

Other ideas include making it harder for migrants to reach the “credible fear standard” used to screen potential asylum seekers and ways to more quickly deport those who do not meet the new standard.

SEN BILL HAGERTY SAYS DEMS ENGAGING IN ‘SHEER POWER GRAB’ BY TOLERATING BORDER ‘CARNAGE’

The proposals come after a bipartisan border deal failed in the Senate, something the administration and Democrats are looking to point to as voters raise concerns about the situation in the coming months.

“The Administration spent months negotiating in good faith to deliver the toughest and fairest bipartisan border security bill in decades because we need Congress to make significant policy reforms and to provide additional funding to secure our border and fix our broken immigration system,” White House spokesperson Angelo Fernández Hernández said of the bill’s failure, according to Politico.

But BORDER911, which is also being led by former Texas Department of Public Safety’s Intelligence and Counterterrorism Division Capitan Jaeson Jones, investigative journalist Sara Carter, retired Border Patrol Chief Rodney S. Scott., and former U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan, argued the Biden administration shares the bulk of the blame for the current crisis, with the pledge saying that border security has been “systematically dismantled” by the administration and that it has “lost operational control of its border.”

“Communities and families are being devastated daily as the cartels take total advantage of the reckless border policies. Sadly, the cartels are making billions of dollars by also running the largest human and sex trafficking operations ever.,” Maltz said. “It’s time for all citizens to step up and understand how our country is under attack from dangerous criminals and recognize that without border security we will have no country.”

NFL may adopt kicking game changes for next season as league officials reportedly meet

The NFL competition committee reportedly talked about a rule change involving kickoffs on Sunday as the group of officials met in Indianapolis ahead of the new league year.

The committee could make a proposal to alter the kickoffs to make it look more like how the XFL did in 2023, the Washington Post reported, citing a source. The rule would need to receive 24 votes to be enacted. The NFL changed the rule last season, allowing fair catches on kickoffs. But the Washington Post reported that rule was only made for one season.

“My perspective has been that we have to keep the kickoff in the game,” Atlanta Falcons CEO Rich McKay told the newspaper. “And to do that, we have to find a way to modernize it and get that play going again because that 20% return rate is not what was intended for that [fair catch] rule.”

In the XFL, kickoffs were taken from the kicking team’s 30-yard line. The members of the kicking team lined up at the receiving team’s 35-yard line and blockers on the receiving team line up on their own 30-yard line. Only the kicker and the returner can move until the ball is caught or 3 seconds after the ball hits the ground. Kickoffs that sail out of bounds or fall short of the receiving team’s 20-yard line move to the kicking team’s 45-yard line.

A touchback occurs when the ball travels into the end zone or bounces into the end zone. If it sails into the end zone without touching the ground, the receiving team gets the ball at the 35. If it bounces into the end zone, the receiving team gets the ball at the 15.

FORMER NFL STAR JJ WATT WANTS LEAGUE TO CONSIDER CHANGE FOR HOLDING PENALTIES

A team can request an onside kick. It has to travel at least 10 yards but not more than 20 yards. A team could also decide to go for the 4th-and-15 option instead of the kickoff. If they convert, they keep the ball.

“We just have to be open-minded enough to say: Can we bring plays back in the game that have gone out of the game? And if we can in a creative way, we should consider it,” McKay added.

It’s unclear which part of the XFL’s rules the NFL competition committee was considering. The XFL merged with the USFL this year to become the United Football League.

NASCAR penalizes star driver after noticing his glove breaks odd rule

Joey Logano was set to start the Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway on the front row alongside Michael McDowell, but he was moved to the back of the pack due to an odd rules violation.

NASCAR said right before the race that Logano “will drop to the rear and serve a pass-through penalty at the start of today’s race due to violating rule 14.3.1.1 of the NASCAR Rule Book (gloves do not meet SFI specification).”

Chase Elliott was also moved to the back “for unapproved adjustments.”

Larry McReynolds, a FOX NASCAR analyst, said on “FOX RaceDay” that Logano was penalized for a safety violation. He said each piece of gear a driver has needs to be “SFI rated” – which is a safety rating.

“The glove that Joey had on his left hand it was not SFI rated,” McReynolds said. “Everybody does this at super speedways in qualifying. They put that left hand up there (by the safety net) to try and block some air.

One of our nation’s greatest freedoms falls by the wayside as American beliefs targeted

Anti-Christian hatred is accelerating in the United States, according to a Christian nonprofit that has tracked violence against U.S. churches since 2018.

The Washington, D.C.-based Family Research Council (FRC) released its annual Hostility Against Churches report last week, finding there were 436 hostile incidents against churches in 2023. This is more than double the number tracked in 2022 and more than eight times as many as the group found in 2018.

The group said it used publicly available data to track 915 acts of hostility against churches over the past six years. Most of the incidents were acts of vandalism. The report also found gun-related incidents, arson and bomb threats used against churches.

“From January 2018 to November 2023, there were at least 709 occurrences of vandalism, 135 arson attacks or attempts, 22 gun-related incidents, 32 bomb threats, and 61 other incidents (assault, threats, interruption of worship services, etc.). In 39 cases, multiple types of hostility occurred (e.g., vandalism and arson),” the report states.

ANTI-CHRISTIAN HOSTILITY REACHING ‘UNPRECEDENTED’ LEVELS IN CULTURE, GOVERNMENT UNDER BIDEN, OBSERVERS WARN

Vandalism against churches may be a sign of the culture’s increasing irreverence for places of worship and the Christian religion in general, the report said.

“Americans appear increasingly comfortable lashing out against church buildings, pointing to a larger societal problem of marginalizing core Christian beliefs, including those that touch on hotbutton political issues related to human dignity and sexuality. Attacks on houses of worship may also signal a discomfort with religion in general,” the report continues.

FRC President Tony Perkins said the hostility toward Christians displayed by the Biden administration is mirrored by the growing persecution against Christians worldwide.

“There is a common connection between the growing religious persecution abroad and the rapidly increasing hostility toward churches here at home: our government’s policies,” Perkins said in a statement. “The indifference abroad to the fundamental freedom of religion is rivaled only by the increasing antagonism toward the moral absolutes taught by Bible-believing churches here in the U.S., which is fomenting this environment of hostility toward churches.”

WORLD LOOKS OTHER WAY AS CHRISTIANS ‘KILLED FOR SPORT BY JIHADISTS’ IN NIGERIA

Some of President Biden’s critics have accused his administration of waging a war on Christians after several pro-life activists were charged with violating federal law for protesting at an abortion clinic in 2021. The activists could face up to 11 years in prison.

FRC report author Arielle Del Turco said the documented incidents show there is a “growing disdain for Christianity and core Christian beliefs” in the United States.

“Although the motivations for many of these acts of hostility remain unknown, the effect is unmistakable: religious intimidation. They send the message that churches are not wanted in the community or respected in general. Our culture is demonstrating a growing disdain for Christianity and core Christian beliefs, and acts of hostility against churches could be a physical manifestation of that. Regardless of the motivations of these crimes, everyone should treat churches and all houses of worship with respect and affirm the importance of religious freedom for all Americans.”

Illegal immigrant influencer on ‘vacation’ in US urges support for Times Square shooter

Venezuelan migrant, Leonal Moreno, posted a video to his social media urging his over 300,000 followers to “unite” and pay the fines of a 15-year-old migrant who allegedly shot a tourist in Times Square earlier this month.

“I invite you to find [his] mother and [for] all of us to unite to pay the fines [so] that the young Venezuelan feels that he’s not alone during difficult moments. Remember that up there there’s a God who sees everything [down here],” the Venezuelan TikToker said.

He continued,”An entire nation [is] on top of him instead of helping him – remember that the young man is going to be released. And he will be released, do you know why? Because he’s underage.”

VENEZUELAN MIGRANTS LINKED TO MORE CRIMES IN U.S., BUT MADURO SHUTS DOOR ON ALL DEPORTATIONS

“You don’t know when God is going to put you in a situation like the one this young man is in,” Moreno continued in the clip, referencing the attempted murder charges against teenager Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa, who’s being tried as an adult for his actions on February 8th.

“Let’s unite forces so that this child can be free and has an opportunity,” he captioned his 90-second TikTok video in Spanish, which has since garnered 2.5 million views.

The comments section of the video collected mixed sentiments, with one user calling Moreno a “clown”, while another wrote, “He broke the law, and he should stay in jail or go back to his country.”

NYPD RELEASES SURVEILLANCE VIDEO FROM TIMES SQUARE STABBING OF 17-YEAR-OLD MIGRANT

Moreno’s content focuses around his lifestyle and how he earns an income by begging strangers on the streets and living off of money distributed by the government.

In another video posted February 21st, Moreno expressed his intention behind migrating to the United States, stating, “You came to the United States to work, and I came to vacation, look at the difference. You and I didn’t come with the same purpose. You came to the United States to pay the taxes that you didn’t pay in Venezuela.”

The same day, the migrant posted another video, admitting, “I confess that I don’t like to work because it gives me allergies. You work, I don’t, but in the end, neither of us have money. They keep criticizing us because I live off of taxes that you pay monthly.”

CHICAGO RESIDENTS SPEAK OUT AGAINST MIGRANTS WELCOMED BY CITY: ‘JUNKING UP OUR COUNTRY’

The New York Post reported that the Venezuelan TikToker lives in Columbus, Ohio with his partner and their daughter.

Manhattan Institute fellow and Venezuelan native, Daniel Di Martino, told The New York Post, “Americans should be outraged to see how someone can come… and abuse the laws and benefits of America. Sadly, he’s just one of many who are ripping off the taxpayer because of our own badly written laws that allow them to collect some welfare and take years to decide asylum cases that likely will be denied.”

As the migrant crisis continues across the country, the violent actions of those like Rivas-Figueroa and Jose Antonio Ibarra bring a plethora of questions to the surface regarding the state of immigration and the Biden administration’s willingness to address the ongoing crisis.

President Biden recently said, “Congress has had a long, proud history — a bipartisan history — on immigration reform and abiding by our international treaty obligations, which we signed related to immigration. These reforms made America a nation of laws, a nation of immigrants and the strongest economy in the world. But something changed. Over time, our laws and our resources haven’t kept up with our immigration system, and it’s broken. And our politics has failed to fix it.”
