Biden on meaning of ‘come to Jesus’ expression from hot mic moment following the SOTU

After President Biden was overheard on a hot mic on the House floor, he explained his comments in an interview on MSNBC and called for a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war.

The moment went viral online following Biden’s State of the Union speech, with the president telling a group about a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu is also known by the nickname, “Bibi.”

“I told him, Bibi [Netanyahu,]… you and I are going to have a ‘come to Jesus’ moment,” Biden said, using a term that usually refers to a moment where someone has a moment of major realization.

BIDEN CAUGHT ON HOT MIC REVEALING PRIVATE ‘COME TO JESUS’ CONVERSATION WITH NETANYAHU

Biden said that the expression “come to Jesus” was one that is commonly used in southern Delaware and that it meant a “serious meeting.”

“I’ve known Bibi for 50 years and he knew what I meant by it,” Biden told MSNBC anchor Jonathan Capehart in an interview that aired Saturday.

When pressed on what exactly Biden intended with his use of that phrase, the president said that he believed that Netanyahu needed to do more to prevent innocent casualties in the country’s war with Hamas.

“What’s happening is [Netanyahu] has a right to defend Israel, a right to continue to pursue Hamas, but he must pay more attention to the innocent lives being lost as a consequence of the actions taken,” Biden said.

“He’s hurting Israel more than helping Israel,” he continued, adding that it was “contrary to what Israel stands for.”

“I think it’s a big mistake and I want to see a cease-fire,” Biden told Capehart.

BIDEN SAYS US HAS NO ‘RED LINE’ ON ISRAEL IN HAMAS WAR WHERE ‘THEY DON’T HAVE THE IRON DOME TO PROTECT THEM’

It is unclear whether Biden planned the hot mic moment.

Last month, a report emerged that Biden had privately disparaged Netanyahu over their discussions and his handling of Israel’s war.

Biden himself has taken criticism from within his own party for not doing enough to prevent civilian deaths in Gaza, with some even accusing him of supporting “genocide.”

Biden responded to attacks over his stance on the war during his interview with Capehart, the second such interview that the president has granted to the reporter.

Capehart’s first interview with Biden was in October 2022.

White House partners with group accused of demonizing evangelicals

EXCLUSIVE – The Biden administration’s recent diversity, equity and inclusion toolkit on religious tolerance recommended a resource guide that advocates a website with articles that referred to evangelical Christians as a “threat” whose influence needed to be “root[ed] out.”

In September 2023, the White House published “Allied Against Hate: A Toolkit for Faith Communities.” The “media literacy” portion of the toolkit aimed at combating Islamophobia recommended a PDF guide which the White House said “offers tips for spotting false, exaggerated, or misleading information in the media, especially pertaining to misrepresentations of religious groups.”

The PDF the White House included was created by “America Indivisible” and recommended that stakeholders read a controversial website called “MuslimGirl.”

“Sites like Muslim Girl… feature credible voices of Muslim Americans who are actively challenging anti-Muslim bigotry,” the PDF from 2018 said.

CHRISTIAN MONK SAYS DISGRACED BIDEN PROSECUTOR RUINED HIS LIFE FOR ‘POLITICAL GAIN’

Fox News Digital’s review of MuslimGirl found that it was filled with articles containing pro-Palestinian propaganda from 2016 to the present, such as most recently a defense of the terrorist group Hamas’ Oct. 7 attacks. It also targeted “Christian Zionist evangelicals” and said they were a greater “threat” to Jews than Palestinians.

The White House offered the PDF to stakeholders, so they can “increase[e]… media literacy to ensure you are sharing accurate information from reliable sources; or sponsoring a course on media and information literacy for your faith community.”

In the White House’s toolkit, there is a legal disclaimer stating, “Links to websites and resources outside the U.S. federal government are being provided as a convenience and for informational purposes only; they do not constitute an endorsement or an approval by the White House of any of the products, services, or opinions of the corporation or organization or individual. The White House bears no responsibility for the accuracy, legality, or content of the external site or for that of subsequent links.”

MuslimGirl’s objective is to draw awareness “to the Qur’an’s message of gender equality and Islam’s principle of peace,” according to the website’s description.

The White House, MuslimGirl and America Indivisible didn’t respond to requests for comment.

CATHOLIC HOSPITALS’ ATTORNEY REACTS TO WIN AGAINST BIDEN ADMIN’S ‘SHOCKING’ THREATS TO FORCE CLOSURES

‘DON’T BE FOOLED’ BY THE CHRISTIAN ‘THREAT’

“MuslimGirl Staff” published an article in May 2021 that said that evangelical Christians were a “threat” titled, “Here’s What You Need to Know about Christian Zionists and their Threat to Palestine and Jews.”

“Don’t be fooled. Just because the two faiths share the Old Testament and basic watchwords of tolerance such as ‘love thy neighbor,’ it does not change the fact that… they’re really anti-Semitic,” MuslimGirl wrote.

It proceeded to call for U.S. foreign policy to be “dismantle[d]” by uprooting “Christian Zionist Evangelicals.” It added that Evangelicals are more dangerous to Jews than Palestinians.

“In order for us to dismantle U.S. foreign policy and funding to Israel’s oppressive occupation, we need to root out Christian Zionist evangelicals who control the way in which this country functions… Politically, Christian Zionist evangelicals share the same ideals as right-wing anti-Semites,” MuslimGirl wrote.  “So, before you, as a non-Palestinian, non-Arab, and current non-ally think to criticize [pro-Palestinians]… check yourself. Realize the real issue is the cyclical, volatile, and dangerous form of apocalyptic Christian Zionist beliefs… which is far more dangerous to Jews than Palestinians ever will be.”

Another article, published October 2020, claimed that Evangelical Christians celebrated Trump’s assassination of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani “not because they hate Soleimani per se, but because it could cause a war, and this war could bring back Jesus.”

HAMAS: ‘MERELY A GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS’

One week after the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, MuslimGirl published an article defending Hamas titled, “Here’s What Pro-Israel Supporters of Palestinian Massacre Don’t Want You to Know.”

“Was it plausible to believe that [the Palestinians] would remain passive forever?” the article said. “Hamas, often vilified as a terrorist group, is merely a group of individuals who have borne witness to a relentless tide of injustice. They have observed the world’s inaction while their loved ones endured barbaric slaughter. Can it be convincingly argued that the apartheid, cannibal Israeli occupation did not foresee the inevitable consequences?”

The piece also questioned whether associating Hamas with terrorism was political. The U.S. State Department categorizes Hamas as a terror group.

“The term ‘terrorist’ …warrants careful consideration,” the article said. “How… can this label be applied to those defending their homeland…?”

“Does responding with resistance against an illegal Zionist occupation instantly transform a nation or a group into monsters? Are they the true perpetrators, or are they merely striving to rectify the injustices that have been inflicted upon their people?” the article continued.

PROMOTING ‘NEO-NAZI MOVEMENT’S FAVORITE ACADEMIC’

MuslimGirl published a controversial 2016 article claiming it had “proof” Israel was harvesting organs.

The same article that accused Israel of harvesting organs quoted an antisemitic article from Kevin MacDonald, whom the Southern Poverty Law Center regards as “the neo-Nazi movement’s favorite academic.”

StopAntisemitism, a watchdog group, called the organ harvesting claim an antisemitic “blood libel,” adding this rhetoric flames hate.

“We hold the standard of antisemitism put forth by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA). Throughout the various centuries, there have been multiple claims of blood libel used against the Jewish people collectively. Organ harvesting is the latest example of blood libel against the world’s only Jewish state. When flagrant accusations are tossed around the communities that wish us harm, the violence increases,” the group told Fox News Digital in a statement.

Articles in MuslimGirl advocate for an economic and cultural boycott of Israel. Accordingly, the founder of MuslimGirl, Amani Al-Khatahtbeh, declined an award from Revlon “because of the company’s engagement with Israeli actress Gal Gadot,” according to Tablet Magazine.

BIDEN STATE DEPARTMENT NOMINEE ACCUSED OF SUPPORTING ANTI-ISRAEL BDS MOVEMENT WITHDRAWS

Another MuslimGirl article titled, “How International Allyship is Influenced by White Supremacy,” published in April 2022, claimed opposing the boycott of Israel was linked to “White supremacy.”

“Interestingly, whoever chooses to join the BDS Movement is labeled as anti-Semitic [due to] the White supremacist conservative-driven discourse,” the article said.

StopAntisemitism told Fox News Digital the White House allegedly pushing anti-Israel sentiment under its tolerance umbrella is nothing new.

“From collaborating with CAIR on a nationwide initiative aimed at combating antisemitism to presently endorsing platforms like ‘MuslimGirl’ propagating false accusations of Palestinian organ harvesting and advocating for Hamas militants, there arises a pertinent question: Who is steering the course of action within the White House amidst this unsettling trajectory?” StopAntisemitism said.

The Biden administration also recently announced it would bring the Council for American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) into its plan to combat antisemitism.

The White House later scrambled to distance itself from the Islamic group after its executive director’s praise for the Hamas’ Oct 7. slaughter, Fox News previously reported.

CAIR referred Fox News to a previous statement that the organization condemns antisemitism, bigotry and violence.

“[The executive director] recognizes and agrees that some of the other remarks he made at that conference should have been explained and expressed more clearly,” the statement said.

Kate Middleton breaks silence for the first time since surgery with photo of kids

Kate Middleton is speaking out months after being hospitalized for abdominal surgery, breaking her silence after weeks of speculation regarding her health.

Catherine, the Princess of Wales, thanked supporters in a post to social media, which included a picture of the royal seated and surrounded by her children: Prince George and Louis and Princess Charlotte. The photograph was taken by Prince William, although it’s not clear when.

“Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months,” she wrote.

Middleton’s statement comes at an opportune time; conspiracy theories had mounted about her surgery and whereabouts after not being seen publicly since December.

A spokesperson for Middleton previously commented on the rumors, telling Fox News Digital at the end of February, “Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the Princess’ recovery and we’d only be providing significant updates. The guidance in January stands that the Princess would be recuperating at home in Windsor.”

Middleton’s first public outing was captured by photographers last week, as the royal was seen being driven by her mother, Carole Middleton.

On Jan. 17, the palace first shared she’d been hospitalized.

“Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to The London Clinic yesterday for planned abdominal surgery. The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery,” the statement said.

Recommendations from her medical team indicated that the princess would likely not resume public duties until Easter, later this month.

“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private,” the original statement continued. “The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.”

Middleton returned home after a nearly two-week stay on Jan. 29.

“The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided,” the statement read. “The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world.”

Her visit coincided with that of King Charles III, who was undergoing treatment for his prostate. The palace later shared that during his procedure, cancer had been detected.

Parts fly off car as driver rams into motorcyclist in bout of road rage

The search is on for the driver of a gray or silver 2020 Honda Civic that was caught on dashcam video slamming into a motorcyclist, Florida Highway Patrol says.

Just after midnight Friday morning, the Civic driver is accused of intentionally ramming into a 52-year-old motorcyclist from Leesburg in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 near milepost 319 in Sumter County.

“The motorcyclist passed a commercial vehicle on the outside shoulder while the Honda passed in the center lane,” FHP said in a press release. “Once the two vehicles had passed the commercial vehicle, the driver of the Honda abruptly steered to the outside shoulder and rammed the motorcycle intentionally.”

Investigators say the motorcyclist overturned several times in the wooded area parallel to the roadway following the impact, while the Civic left the scene.

Blue state mulls giving paroled inmates big checks on their way out

A new bill introduced by New York state lawmakers would offer inmates leaving prison around $2,600 in an effort to help them get back on their feet.

The legislation, introduced by State Senator Kevin Parker and Assemblyman Eddie Gibbs, would allow inmates to collect around $400 each month over six months once they leave prison.

As the bill currently stands, there are no limitations on how or where the money can be spent, according to Fox 5 New York.

“In New York, crime pays, literally,” State Senator George Borrello said.

FUMING OFFICIALS DEMAND HOCHUL REPEAL NY BAIL REFORM LAWS AS BODY-CHOPPING SUSPECTS FREED

Borrello said he is strongly opposing the bill and that the state should prioritize other legislation over giving out money to inmates being released.

“My colleagues seem to think that these are folks that are a victim of circumstances,” Borrello said. “You chose to commit a crime in New York State. If you really are concerned about how much money you’re going to have in your pocket when you leave prison, then don’t go there to begin with.”

Currently, inmates leaving prison are given $40, which comes from their garnished earnings behind bars.

“In this economy that amount is barely enough to get groceries or purchase clothes for a job interview,” Gibbs said. “The first 72 hours after release are crucial in determining an individual’s successful reintegration into society. By increasing the amount to up to $2,550 in the span of a few months, we allow folks the opportunity to reach their full potential. This isn’t just a social justice bill but a public safety one. We need to start offering real support to folks re-entering society if we want to reduce recidivism and ensure stability and dignity for all.”

NEW YORK GOV HOCHUL CALLS IN NATIONAL GUARD, STATE POLICE TO HELP CURB CRIME IN NYC SUBWAYS

The Center for Community Alternatives’ Ismael Diaz Jr., who has previously spent some time in prison, says that $40 does not do enough to help former inmates reintegrate into society.

“This $40 that they give you, they’ve been doing this for over 50 years,” Diaz Jr said, adding that $40 was worth a lot more 50 years ago than it is now.

The sponsors of the bill are requesting that $25 million be set aside for this new initiative.

Samra Haider of The Center for Employment Opportunities, which is backing the bill, said providing more money to inmates leaving prison has proven to cut down on recidivism by almost 30%.

“It just helps them give a little breathing room to allow them to focus on their job search, re-acclimate to the community, and so we think that will really help an individual’s reentry home from prison,” Haider said.

Clemens, 61, made his appearance in the second inning with two outs and donned a bright yellow jersey. He received a thunderous ovation. But it wasn’t a fantastic outing for “The Rocket.” He did at one point handle a comebacker to the mound and tossed it to first base to end the inning.

However, he gave up a two-run single to start the outing. Then, he allowed a two-run home run to Jason Swan. He allowed five runs in his appearance.

Retired detective recalls finding murdered actress before date with Ashton Kutcher

Tom Small will never forget the moment he encountered Ashley Ellerin’s body in her rented Hollywood bungalow.

On the night of Feb. 21, 2001, the 22-year-old had just gotten out of the shower and was about to get ready for a night out. She was stabbed to death.

The California resident wasn’t found until the next morning by her roommate, who had just returned to their residence. Ellerin’s body was outside the entrance to the bathroom.

“I never forgot the brutality,” Small, a retired homicide detective, told Fox News Digital. “I’ve seen a lot of homicides over the years. All types. None of them are pretty. But this one stood out. She was so young, and the way she was mutilated, it was just vicious. It was one of the more vicious attacks I think I’ve seen.

CALIFORNIA WOMAN SUSPECTS RELATIVE WAS A SERIAL KILLER AFTER UNCOVERING FAMILY SECRETS: ‘IT SHOOK ME’

“And the way she was positioned, it was apparent that the suspect wanted us to find her. Whoever did this only had one intention — to inflict bodily harm. To inflict pain. That’s all he wanted. He wanted total control.”

Small is speaking out in “Once Upon a Crime in Hollywood,” a true-crime series hosted by Kelly Hyman. Season 2 focuses on the case of Michael Gargiulo, known as “The Hollywood Ripper” and “The Boy Next Door Killer.” It features new interviews with the investigators involved, as well as key experts.

“I wanted the public to know that these kinds of people are out there,” Small said. “In my profession, you see a lot of murders and a lot of stabbings. But the intention of this was strictly to kill and destroy. It was brutal. It sticks with you.”

Ellerin was stabbed 47 times. Twelve of the wounds were considered fatal. She had numerous defensive wounds on her hands and right forearm.

“She was hit in the front, back, upper body, lower body and throat,” Small recalled. “This person had to be on top of her, get real close and watch her pass. I didn’t know what kind of person this was except it’s a devil. It’s evil.”

Ellerin, born in Maryland, had dreams of living in “the big city,” said Small. Like many others, she wanted to break into the Hollywood scene. Known for her beauty, Ellerin quickly connected with pals involved in the entertainment industry.

FOLLOW THE FOX TRUE CRIME TEAM ON X

“She had no enemies, but she had a million friends and associates,” Small said. “Some were in the entertainment business. Others were personal friends she grew up with. There were a lot of suspects to choose from. I started looking at parolees because, in that area of Hollywood, especially in those years, we had several crimes. We had street robberies, a lot of rapes. But this didn’t have a sexual component. It was more of the infliction of the pain and control.

“She had several acquaintances,” Small continued. “She was a young, good-looking lady who was desirable to a lot of guys. I remember I gave her landlord a pretty bad time. … We were satisfied that we could rule him out. But it took a while.”

On the night Ellerin was killed, she had plans with Ashton Kutcher. The former “That ‘70s Show” star later testified in court that he arrived late for his date with Ellerin and looked into her house when there was no answer at the door. The actor saw what he thought was spilled wine on the carpet. After noticing her car in the driveway, Kutcher thought she was mad at him for arriving late. Assuming Ellerin was purposely not answering the door, he left.

Police were stumped and had no concrete leads. However, some of Ellerin’s friends recalled a “creepy heating and air guy” named Mike. No one knew where he lived. His car was unknown. But, somehow, he would show up at Ellerin’s house parties.

“She could have 60 people there, and a lot of people would look at this Mike and go, ‘Who the hell is that guy? How does she know him?’” Small explained. “[According to friends], Ashley would kind of blow it off and say, ‘He looked at my furnace and thinks he’s a friend. He’s harmless.’”

About a week before the slaying, Ellerin hosted a birthday bash for one of her girlfriends. Pals said “Mike” was there and was “laser-focused” on her.

“One of the witnesses described how he was like a laser beam,” Small said. “If she moved from one room to the next, he would change his position, so he could keep his eyes on her. He also walked throughout the house. It looked like he was seeing the layout.”

According to Small, “Mike” suddenly disappeared after Ellerin’s murder. He was never seen in the neighborhood again despite being a fixture. He had no friends who were curious about his whereabouts. He was just the “weird” guy who suddenly vanished.

According to the prosecution, Ellerin first crossed paths with “Mike” several months before her death, E! News reported. According to the outlet, he lived nearby and had offered to fix a flat tire for Ellerin and her friend. He then gave them his business card for air conditioning repair services.

After some digging, the Los Angeles Police Department got a name and driver’s license photo. It was Gargiulo.

In Cook County, just outside Chicago, Tricia Pacaccio’s mother was relentlessly hounding investigators. The 18-year-old was discovered in the morning hours of August 1993. She was stabbed repeatedly in the breast, chest and arm. Her case was cold, and the heartbroken matriarch was desperate for answers. In 2002, new DNA technology made it possible for investigators to take a fresh look at evidence that was originally collected from the crime scene.

Detectives still had Gargiulo on their list of suspects. When they learned he had moved from Illinois to Los Angeles, they reached out to the LAPD. A DNA sample was obtained and sent to the Illinois State Police Crime Lab. It matched the DNA on Pacaccio’s fingernails.

The Pacaccio family lived near Gargiulo’s boyhood home.

The Cook County State Attorney’s office refused to indict Gargiulo, the Chicago Tribune reported. According to the outlet, prosecutors claimed the DNA could have been exchanged through casual contact. As for the LAPD, it had no physical evidence to connect Gargiulo to Ellerin’s murder.

But Gargiulo wouldn’t be off the radar of police. In 2003, an ex-girlfriend alleged he punched her in the face and threatened to kill her, Oxygen.com reported. According to the outlet, the pair met when she hired him to fix her air conditioning unit. She also claimed Gargiulo later stalked her, which prompted her to seek a restraining order.

In 2005, Maria Bruno was found dead in her Los Angeles home. The 32-year-old mother of four’s throat was slashed, and she had multiple stab wounds. A blue surgical slipper was found at the crime scene. Small described it as a “thrill kill.”

In 2008, Michelle Murphy was attacked at her Santa Monica apartment. She was repeatedly stabbed in the chest but survived. Authorities said Gargiulo cut himself and left a trail of blood. The DNA tied him to the other cases.

Gargiulo’s attorneys later contended in court that other men committed the murders of Bruno and Ellerin. They conceded their client had attacked Murphy but said he was in a “fugue state” because of his personality disorder and did not know where he was at the time.

‘FEUD’: NEW YORK HEIRESS, TRUMAN CAPOTE’S BLACK SWAN, DIDN’T MEAN TO SHOOT HER HUSBAND DEAD, AUTHOR CLAIMS

The defense also asserted that Ellerin was killed by another man who was romantically linked to her and was jealous that she was about to go on a date with Kutcher.

But the facts were undeniable. Gargiulo lived near Bruno, whom he “watched carefully.” He was known for wearing blue surgical slippers. He was also left-handed. The murders were committed by a left-handed assailant.

Gargiulo’s past also stunned Small.

“He beat his father up,” he explained. “He took a banquet table and broke it over his sister’s back. There were only two people in his family that he had respect for. One was his mother. The other was his older brother, who’s a bit of a dirtbag himself. I think his father was afraid of him.”

In 2019, Gargiulo was convicted of two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. He was sentenced to death in 2021.

Small said he was “relieved.”

Forget COVID and the flu. There’s a new virus that’s plaguing 2024

Picture this: you’re enjoying a delightful cruise vacation or attending a large family gathering when suddenly, a wave of nausea hits you. Could it be something you ate? Or perhaps it’s the notorious Norovirus making an unwelcome appearance. This highly contagious bug may not be the life of the party, but understanding its pitfalls and how to avoid it can help keep your adventures on course.

Norovirus, aka Norwalk virus, named after a town in Norwalk, Ohio, where the first outbreak occurred in 1968, is a highly contagious virus that can wreak havoc on communities across America and worldwide. It’s an unpleasant nuisance whose impact is felt far and wide, infecting individuals of all ages and walks of life.

It’s like a silent intruder lurking in places from crowded restaurants to daycare centers to cruise ships. It spreads rapidly through contaminated food, water and surfaces. It’s spread through the fecal/oral route – so an infected person can pass viral particles to others or can contaminate surfaces. Despite its small size, Norovirus packs a powerful punch, causing symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach cramps, with very little viral particles.

‘PARROT FEVER’ OUTBREAKS CAUSE 5 DEATHS IN EUROPE, SPARKING WARNINGS

We call it the “stomach flu.” It’s extremely common between the months of December through April, but it can affect anyone, anytime, anywhere. The symptoms can be sudden and usually include vomiting, diarrhea and stomach pains. Sometimes body aches, fever and fatigue occur.

The symptoms usually last 1one to three days. The young, under age 5, pregnant women, elderly and those with medical conditions are at highest risk of complications which include severe dehydration, weakness, dizziness and confusion. There are more than 100,000 hospitalizations due to this virus every year.

It is highly infectious and one of the most common causes of food-borne illnesses worldwide. As a result of Norovirus, we have thousands of visits to emergency rooms and healthcare clinics every year. There is no specific cure for this virus. The treatment is hydration and supportive care.

Norovirus tends to rear its ugly head in cold temperatures, leading to seasonal outbreaks which overwhelm hospitals and clinics and disrupt daily life. Schools, cruise ships, day cares and workplaces have become battlegrounds in the fight against this viral menace.

Once Norovirus enters a community, its domino effect is swift. What starts as a single case can escalate into a full-blown outbreak, leaving a trail of illness in its wake. The virus’s ability to spread from person to person with alarming speed makes containment a challenge.

There is a story behind every statistic – a child missing school, parents calling in sick to work, an elderly person hospitalized with dehydration. Norovirus doesn’t discriminate, affecting people regardless of their age, location or socioeconomic status.

Its toll extends beyond physical illness, impacting mental health and productivity. Fortunately, it is self-limited, meaning it resolves without hospital care for most people. But nobody has time to be put out for three days.

The good news is there are easy steps you can take to protect yourself and your family. Steps that seem so easy, yet are not followed – which is why we have more than 21 million cases each year in our country and nearly 700 million cases worldwide.

It is highly infectious, one of the most common causes of food-borne illnesses worldwide. As a result of Norovirus, we have thousands of visits to emergency rooms and healthcare clinics every year. There is no specific cure for this virus. The treatment is hydration and supportive care.

Proper hand hygiene – washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Thorough cleaning of fruits and vegetables, disinfection of contaminated surfaces with a bleach solution and responsible food handling practices are essential weapons in the fight against the virus. Alcohol doesn’t work against this killing virus. Make sure you cook your shellfish well since Norovirus likes to harbor on leafy greens, fresh fruit and shellfish.

Norovirus may be a formidable adversary, but with knowledge, vigilance and collective action, we can weather the storm and emerge stronger and healthier by raising awareness, promoting prevention and supporting research efforts. Scientists are currently working towards a future where Norovirus no longer holds sway over our lives as we await treatment and preventative care like we have for Hepatitis A or typhoid.

Family drama ensues after grandma takes kids to Disney World without their mom

A grandmother who took her grandchildren to Walt Disney World for their first visit when she was unexpectedly forced to babysit the kids for multiple days did nothing wrong and was right not to apologize to her daughter-in-law, said social media users as well as a family therapist.

Reddit user “Simple-Band-9096” revealed the situation on the AITA (“Am I the A–hole”) subreddit in a post on Thursday, March 7, asking, “AITA for taking my grandchildren to Disney for the first time without their mother and refusing to apologize when confronted?”

Fox News Digital also interacted with the poster via Reddit’s messaging feature to learn more about the story; the woman lives not far from Disney World.

WOMAN ON REDDIT IS CONFUSED BY BOYFRIEND’S NEGATIVE REACTION TO HER CARE PACKAGE: ‘UNGRATEFUL DUDE’

In the post, the woman said her son asked her to make a Reddit account and share the story, “because he claims my normal meter is skewed and the internet is going to tell me” she’s wrong, she wrote.

She said, “I recently babysat my grandchildren (5 and 4) for a period of four nights and five days so my son and his wife could attend a wedding in Mexico, and spend a few days on vacation.”

Initially, the woman said she did not want to babysit her grandchildren for that long a time period — and told her son and daughter-in-law that she was not comfortable doing so.

“It seemed like a long time to watch the kids, and she has point-blank told me that the woman’s family is more important than the man’s, so I was irritated I was being asked” to babysit the kids, yet the daughter-in-law’s mother was not asked to do, the woman wrote.

But Simple-Band-9096 changed her mind and agreed to babysit the kids after her son “became very emotional,” she shared. Even so, she felt that they were being manipulative.

Flash ahead to the babysitting time period. While the kids were with her, Simple-Band-9096 said she was invited to a birthday party at Epcot, one of the four main theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort — and wanted to go.

“It didn’t even occur to me to run it by my son or daughter-in-law, as I had the kids for an extended period of time and obviously they knew they would be going where I went,” she said.

“My daughter-in-law was furious and burst into tears. She said I stole one of her kids’ ‘firsts’ and called me entitled.”

In the past, the woman’s daughter-in-law said she planned on taking the kids on a multi-day trip to Walt Disney World, but “never made me aware it was something super special to her.”

REDDIT USER ACCUSED OF SPOILING HER YOUNG SON BY ASKING FOR AN INVITE TO GIRLS-ONLY EVENT

Added the woman on Reddit, “Also, it was Epcot. It’s not like I took them to Magic Kingdom and they had some magical moment of seeing their favorite character.”

In follow-up comments, she said she lives about two hours away from the park and they did not need to stay overnight in a hotel

When her son and daughter-in-law got back from their trip, they did not take the news of the trip very well at all.

“My daughter-in-law was furious and burst into tears,” she said. “She said I stole one of her kids’ ‘firsts’ and called me entitled.”

She continued, “To be honest, I didn’t react well to being called entitled, when she was the one who previously demanded babysitting.”

“My son feels like Reddit is going to show me the error of my ways.”

She went on, “My son asked me to apologize as she was distraught over missing their first Disney trip, but I declined and asked them to leave.”

The son later asked again for an apology, and Simple-Band-9096 again declined.

REDDIT RELATIONSHIP DRAMA GOES VIRAL AS WOMAN DITCHES DATE WHO LIED TO HER ABOUT HIS AGE

“I know she is a huge Disney person, but it was Epcot, not quintessential Disney and I don’t feel I should have had to miss out on a birthday party I wanted to attend,” the woman wrote.

“I told my son I am not apologizing for anything and maybe they should think about how they made me feel when they didn’t respect my initial ‘no,'” she said.

Simple-Band-9096 added, “My son feels like Reddit is going to show me the error of my ways.”

Speaking to Fox News Digital, the grandmother said she felt good about the resulting responses to her post.

“I know my son read all the comments and is feeling pretty embarrassed right now,” she said.

“It’s essential to relinquish some control over how things are done, even if it doesn’t meet your expectations.”

A family therapist told Fox News Digital that while the daughter-in-law’s emotions were understandable, she needed to adjust her views of the situation.

“It’s understandable for the daughter-in-law to feel disappointed that she wasn’t the one to introduce Disney to her kids,” Rachel Goldberg, LMFT, founder of Rachel Goldberg Therapy in Los Angeles, told Fox News Digital via email.

FRIENDS AT ODDS IN DRESS DRAMA AS BRIDE INSISTS ON NEW BRIDESMAID GOWN NO MATTER WHAT

The daughter-in-law and Simple-Band-9096 already did not get along well, something that may have “heightened” her distress, suggested Goldberg.

“Taking care of two young children for an extended period can be challenging, and if you’re entrusting Grandma with that responsibility, it’s essential to relinquish some control over how things are done, even if it doesn’t meet your expectations,” said Goldberg.

The day at Epcot was a positive experience for the grandchildren and their grandmother, said Goldberg — meaning that she did not do them any harm.

“It could be beneficial for the daughter-in-law to reframe her mindset to focus on the joy the children experienced rather than solely on not being the one credited for the outing,” she said.

Reddit users largely agreed with this sentiment, saying that Simple-Band-9096 was not in the wrong to take the kids with her to Epcot.

“I hope your son feels humbled here today.”

While there was somewhat of a debate, most of the 7,000 or so replies to the post said that Simple-Band-9096 was “NTA” — and that, instead, her son was wrong.

“I hope your son feels humbled here today,” said Reddit user “BulbasaurRanch” in the top-upvoted comment, saying that Simple-Band-9096 was not wrong about what she did.

“They imposed on you to watch their children. You did exactly as they requested. You’ve done nothing wrong,” said BulbasaurRanch.

The user continued, “You are not responsible for your rude daughter-in-law crying. Tears don’t make a person right.”

Other users criticized the mentality that placed so much value on experiencing a child’s “first” everything.

“My mom has more of my kid’s ‘firsts’ than I do because I gotta work,” said user “BadTanJob.”

“That’s life. It was just as magical the second, third and fourth time,” added the same user. “DIL and son need to get a grip.”
