NBC News officially drops Ronna McDaniel following on-air backlash from staff

NBC News has officially terminated its short-lived relationship with former RNC chair Ronna McDaniel, according to a memo sent to staff by the network’s boss.

“There is no doubt that the last several days have been difficult for the News Group,” NBCUniversial News Group Chairman Cesar Conde began Tuesday in a copy of the memo obtained by Fox News Digital. “After listening to the legitimate concerns of many of you, I have decided that Ronna McDaniel will not be an NBC News contributor.”

Conde acknowledged McDaniel’s hiring had undermined the goal of a “cohesive and aligned” newsroom and offered an apology to his staff.

NBC NEWS LEADERSHIP UNDER FIRE OVER RONNA MCDANIEL DEBACLE

“I want to personally apologize to our team members who felt we let them down,” Conde wrote. “While this was a collective recommendation by some members of our leadership team, I approved it and take full responsibility for it.”

He continued, “Our initial decision was made because of our deep commitment to presenting our audiences with a wide diverse set of viewpoints and experiences, particularly during these consequential times. We continue to be committed to the principle that we must have diverse viewpoints on our programs, and to that end, we will redouble our efforts to seek voices that represent different parts of the political spectrum.”

A network insider told Fox News Digital, “There was virtually no way out of this situation but to reverse the decision.” They added that while MSNBC figures led the protest, it had the support of a lot of NBC staffers who thought McDaniel was unacceptable for even a non-partisan network.

NBC did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital‘s requests for comment.

A person close to McDaniel, who asked to remain anonymous to speak more freely, told Fox News McDaniel found out about the termination through media reports and that as of now she hasn’t heard from NBC.

MSNBC STARS SHOOT INSIDE THE TENT, ATTACK NBC FOR HIRING EX-RNC CHAIR RONNA MCDANIEL: ‘INEXPLICABLE’

NBC’s announcement last Friday of McDaniel’s hiring sparked intense backlash from the network’s biggest stars.

Chuck Todd kicked off the avalanche of on-air attacks towards McDaniel following her NBC debut on Sunday’s “Meet the Press.”

“I think our bosses owe you an apology for putting you in this situation, because I don’t know what to believe,” Todd told “Meet the Press” moderator Kristen Welker. “She has credibility issues that she still has to deal with. Is she speaking for herself or is she speaking on behalf of who’s paying her?”

Rachel Maddow, MSNBC’s biggest star, confirmed to viewers Monday that McDaniel “will not be on MSNBC.”

“The fact that Ms. McDaniel is on the payroll at NBC News – to me that is inexplicable,” Maddow said. “I mean you wouldn’t hire a wise guy, you wouldn’t hire a made man, like a mobster to work at a D.A.’s office, right? You wouldn’t hire a pickpocket to work as a TSA screener. And so I find the decision to put her on the payroll inexplicable, and I hope they will reverse their decision.”

Other MSNBC hosts, including Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, Nicolle Wallace, Joy Reid, Jen Psaki and Lawrence O’Donnell joined the chorus of in-house critics with on-air lashings at their employer.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs breaks silence after federal agents raid his homes

Sean “Diddy” Combs denied the “meritless accusations” waged against him as he spoke out for the first time following Homeland Security raids on his homes in Los Angeles and Miami on Monday.

“Yesterday, there was a gross overuse of military-level force as search warrants were executed at Mr. Combs’ residences,” his attorney, Aaron Dyer, said Tuesday in a statement provided to Fox News Digital.

“There is no excuse for the excessive show of force and hostility exhibited by authorities or the way his children and employees were treated. Mr. Combs was never detained but spoke to and cooperated with authorities.

“Despite media speculation, neither Mr. Combs nor any of his family members have been arrested nor has their ability to travel been restricted in any way.”

SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS’ ACCUSER ADDS CUBA GOODING JR. TO SEXUAL ASSAULT LAWSUIT

“This unprecedented ambush — paired with an advanced, coordinated media presence — leads to a premature rush to judgment of Mr. Combs and is nothing more than a witch hunt based on meritless accusations made in civil lawsuits,” he added.

“There has been no finding of criminal or civil liability with any of these allegations. Mr. Combs is innocent and will continue to fight every single day to clear his name.”

A U.S. official confirmed to Fox News that the raids on Combs’ homes on Monday were connected to a federal human trafficking investigation. It’s unclear if the rapper is the target of the federal agents’ investigation.

“Earlier today, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) New York executed law enforcement actions as part of an ongoing investigation, with assistance from HSI Los Angeles, HSI Miami, and our local law enforcement partners,” the agency told Fox News Digital.

“We will provide further information as it becomes available.”

Separately, a music producer who sued Combs for sexual assault in February added actor Cuba Gooding Jr. to his complaint on Monday.

Rodney Jones, known professionally as Lil Rod, accused Gooding of “sexually harassing and assaulting” him in the new version of the suit obtained by Fox News Digital. The “Surgical” producer claimed Gooding began “touching, groping, and fondling” him during a party on a yacht rented by Combs in the U.S. Virgin Islands in January 2023.

In the original lawsuit filed against Combs in February and obtained by Fox News Digital, Jones accused the rapper of sexually assaulting him and forcing him to perform sex acts with prostitutes.

Jones worked as a producer with Combs on his latest album, “The Love Album: Off the Grid.” The music producer claimed he lived with the “I’ll Be Missing You” singer for extended periods of time and accused Combs of unsolicited groping and sexual touching.

Combs’ legal team slammed Jones’ accusations as “complete lies.”

“Lil Rod is nothing more than a liar who filed a $30 million lawsuit shamelessly looking for an undeserved payday. His reckless name-dropping about events that are pure fiction and simply did not happen is nothing more than a transparent attempt to garner headlines,” Combs’ attorney Shawn Holley previously told Fox News Digital.

Actress says she isn’t good at ‘picking a partner’ after two failed marriages

Sally Field “can’t imagine” ever getting married again.

“I was never really good at picking a partner for myself,” she explained on an episode of “Wiser Than Me with Julia Louis-Dreyfus.”

Despite being married twice, Field claimed the men “were just not a good match” for the “Steel Magnolias” star.

“I can’t imagine” having any interest in getting married again,” Field told Louis-Dreyfus, according to People magazine. “It would certainly all depend on meeting somebody I wanted to spend more than 37 seconds with.”

SALLY FIELD REALIZED BURT REYNOLDS ROMANCE ‘WOULDN’T LAST’ AFTER THIS OSCAR MOMENT, AUTHOR CLAIMS

“And I can’t imagine that either! So I don’t know.”

Field has been married twice. The actress married Steven Craig in 1968. The couple welcomed two sons – Peter and Eli – before divorcing in 1975.

She went on to marry Alan Greisman in 1984. Field and Greisman welcomed a son, Sam, before calling it quits in 1994.

“The three things I’m most proud of in my life are my sons,” Field told Closer Weekly in February 2020. “They are kind, loving, productive people, each with their own list of talents and accomplishments.”

Field has had other high-profile relationships throughout her life as well. Field and actor Burt Reynolds met on the set of “Smokey and the Bandit” in 1977. They had a tumultuous on-and-off relationship that lasted for five years. Reynolds went on to marry Loni Anderson in 1988. The marriage ended in 1994.

The actor died in 2018 at age 82.

Author Dave Karger wrote about Field’s relationship with Reynolds in the book, “50 Oscar Nights.” Field confessed to Karger that Reynolds wouldn’t attend the 1980 Academy Awards with her and had remarked, “You don’t think you’re going to win anything, do you?”

“He really was not a nice guy around me then,” she admitted, as quoted in the book.

Karger said that even with Field’s admission, he still wondered why Reynolds couldn’t support the star at the time.

“I can only guess that there were issues of control and jealousy,” he told Fox News Digital. “[He] was uncomfortable with the thought of [Field] reaching the pinnacle of success in the industry. I think it’s really unfortunate that [he] couldn’t have been more supportive publicly and privately.”

Dem campaign call reveals panic over RFK Jr’s White House bid

Democrats appear to be in panic mode as they scramble to save President Biden’s re-election hopes from the threat of independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s campaign, a call hosted by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) revealed Tuesday afternoon.

The call with members of the press took place immediately after Kennedy announced tech entrepreneur Nicole Shanahan as his vice presidential running mate at a rally in Oakland, California, and included Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., Pennsylvania Lieutenant Gov. Austin Davis, and Michigan state Sen. Mallory McMorrow, who all fretted that Kennedy would likely ruin any chance of Biden being re-elected.

“We are doing everything in our power to get President Biden and Vice President Harris reelected. It’s critical that we take seriously every possible obstacle to that goal. And let me be clear, that’s exactly what Robert F. Kennedy is in this election. He’s a spoiler,” Davis said.

WHO IS NICOLE SHANAHAN? MEET THE WEALTHY ENTREPRENEUR RFK JR SELECTED AS HIS VP RUNNING MATE

McMorrow agreed, saying it was important for her to be on the call to share “how horrifying this campaign is and what it really means on the ground for Michigan.”

“Him being in the race means that there is a greater likelihood that Donald Trump will become president again,” she said.

Earlier in the call, Garcia railed against Kennedy as “a tin foil hat conspiracy theorist,” referencing his past skepticism toward vaccines, particularly those aimed at combating the COVID-19 pandemic. He also accused Shanahan of holding an “anti-health agenda” despite a large portion of her introduction as Kennedy’s running mate being focused on Americans’ health, especially that of children.

“He’s turning to Trump mega-donors to really support this, really, spoiler campaign. I think he’s likely interested in trying to get Donald Trump elected. Maybe that’s what this is about. And many of us are not sure, but he is someone that should not be taken seriously as a serious person. I mean, certainly his campaign is quite dangerous,” Garcia said, appearing to launch his own conspiracy theory about Kennedy’s candidacy.

His reference to former President Donald Trump’s donors supporting Kennedy was likely referring to Timothy Mellon, the heir to the Mellon banking fortune who has given millions to outside groups supporting Trump’s third run for the presidency. Last year, Mellon donated millions to American Values 2024, a super PAC backing Kennedy.

DEMOCRATS RIPPED FOR TRYING TO ‘KILL DEMOCRACY’ WITH EFFORT TO PROTECT BIDEN, SILENCE THIRD-PARTY CANDIDATES

Garcia continued to harp on Kennedy’s past positions on vaccines, referring to his bid for the presidency as “disgusting and shameful,” and calling on him to end his “horrific campaign.”

Davis also focused heavily on Kennedy’s past vaccine rhetoric, but repeated Garcia’s theories on the origination of Kennedy’s campaign.

“The truth is that he was drafted into this race by Donald Trump’s top supporters and is being financed in this race by Trump’s largest donor. That isn’t merely a coincidence,” he said. “He has no realistic path to victory in Pennsylvania. All he can do is take away votes from President Biden and make it easier for Donald Trump to win, and we simply can’t afford to let that happen.”

Davis went on to accuse Kennedy of “deliberately” targeting Black people “with dangerous lies and conspiracy theories” about vaccines, and claimed that any suggestion he was an ally of the Black community was “frankly outrageous, and it’s offensive.”

McMorrow later added, “We cannot afford Donald Trump to be back in the White House, which is what is going to happen if people don’t see RFK for what he actually is, which is Donald Trump with a Kennedy name slapped on him.”

WATCH: DEMOCRAT FRONTRUNNER IN TIGHT SENATE RACE DROPS RACIAL SLUR DURING HOUSE HEARING

She went on to fret that Kennedy — like Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein in 2016 — could spoil a key swing state like Michigan for Biden.

“You don’t need significant support to throw an election to Donald Trump. We saw this play out in 2016 where Jill Stein got 50,000 votes and Hillary Clinton lost by 10,000 votes in Michigan. So it is this type of a campaign — and Kennedy should be smart enough to know better. But I don’t think he does. I think his ego is in the way,” she said.

Earlier this month, the DNC launched an effort to silence the threat from third-party candidates, namely Kennedy, in the form of a team that is expected to actively combat them with legal challenges and opposition research.

Democrat strategist Lis Smith, who helped lead Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s 2020 campaign and is consulting for the DNC on the project, set off a storm of X posts and reposts following Kennedy’s Tuesday speech, referring to the candidate as a “spoiler,” and sharing a video where she accused Shanahan of buying her inclusion on the ticket by donating millions to boost Kennedy before she was named his running mate.

Recent polls have shown Kennedy, Stein and independent candidate Dr. Cornel West would pull significant support from both Biden and Trump, but with Biden appearing to be at risk of losing the most potential votes.

The latest RealClearPolitics average of polls has Kennedy reaching 15% in a three-way race against Biden and Trump. The average shows Trump ahead of Biden by 4 points.

A five-way race including West and Stein has Kennedy’s support at 11%, with Trump having a 2-point advantage over Biden.

Former Justice Breyer rips SCOTUS for giving nation a ‘Constitution no one wants’

In a recent interview with Politico, former Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer claimed that the current conservative majority on the court will give the U.S. a Constitution that “no one wants.”

Breyer spoke to the media outlet ahead of the release of his new book, titled, “Reading the Constitution: Why I Chose Pragmatism, Not Textualism.” In it, the former liberal justice spent time criticizing the interpretations his former conservative colleagues have been making in landmark Supreme Court cases.

He elaborated on these points in the interview. Politico Magazine senior writer Ankush Khardori reported, “If the court continues to deploy their methods of interpretation, Breyer told me, ‘We will have a Constitution that no one wants.’ It’s a remarkable statement from a former Supreme Court justice.”

MSNBC SEGMENT POINTS THE FINGER AT ONE CONSERVATIVE JUSTICE FOR LEAKING THE DOBBS DECISION

The journalist asked Breyer about his point in the book warning about “originalism,” noting that Breyer has called this lens of interpretation “inherently ‘regressive,’” writing that it “will not permit modern solutions to modern problems” as well as consigning “us to a set of views and values that predominated during a period when many groups of people today were not equal citizens.”

Breyer affirmed those points in the interview, declaring, “When the founders were thinking about and writing the words of the Constitution and protecting certain basic rights in the Constitution, women were not really part of the political process. They didn’t have a right to vote, and there was slavery, and the slaves weren’t part of [the political process either].”

He continued, “In the 1860s, after the Civil War, they wrote words designed to protect some people, but the theory of who is part of this community — America, which precedes through democratic means — was quite different then than it is now.”

The former justice added that an originalist interpretation “will overlook lots of changes designed to further the value of protecting basic civil rights, because the world has changed.”

Breyer noted that he made the “no one wants” line while debating constitutional interpretation with the late Justice Antonin Scalia, telling the conservative giant that his method would be deeply unpopular among modern Americans.

KAMALA HARRIS TORN APART BY PRO-LIFERS FOR HISTORIC TRIP TO ABORTION CLINIC: ‘NORMALIZATION OF EVIL’

The former justice went on to rebuke the conservative majority’s ruling in the 2022 Dobbs case. He said, “The majority thought in Dobbs there would be fewer cases — we will turn the abortion matter over to the states, and they will legislate or Congress will legislate and it won’t be decided by the courts.”

He described how they were wrong, stating, “But Tuesday, there will be cases on abortion in the Supreme Court. Many states have many different abortion laws now, and I suspect that many of them will be decided in the court where the words will matter, where it will be more complicated than ever, and if you think it’s going to be simpler, I have a bridge in New York City I’d like to sell you.”

In a recent interview with NBC’s “Meet The Press,” Breyer expressed his feelings on the Dobbs ruling, telling host Kristen Welker he had hoped he and his fellow justices at the time could have come to a “compromise” rather than overturning Roe V. Wade.

During that interview, he also called the leak of the Dobbs opinion signaling the end of Roe V. Wade “unfortunate.”

Later in the interview, Breyer described what could result from this originalist interpretation of the Constitution over time, stating it “will move the interpretation of statutes away from the direction of trying to help people,” and “will move the law away from the direction of trying to produce a society where 340 or 330 or 320 million people of every race, every religion, every point of view, can live together more peacefully and productively.”

First ever Bibles endorsed by Trump go up for sale: ‘We must make America pray again’

Former President Donald Trump announced on his social media platform, Truth Social, that he is partnering with country musician Lee Greenwood to sell “God Bless the USA” Bibles ahead of Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

“Happy Holy Week! Let’s Make America Pray Again. As we lead into Good Friday and Easter, I encourage you to get a copy of the God Bless The USA Bible,” Trump wrote in a post.

The former president said every American needs to have a Bible in their home and added that he has many copies himself.

“All Americans need a Bible in their home, and I have many. It’s my favorite book,” Trump said in his video posted on Truth Social. “I’m proud to endorse and encourage you to get this Bible. We must make America pray again.”

LETITIA JAMES RALLIES PRO-CHOICE CROWD OUTSIDE SUPREME COURT: ‘MARCH TO THE POLLS’

The website to purchase the Bibles lists these books as the only Bible inspired by America’s most recognized patriotic anthem, “God Bless The USA.”

This is not the first time Trump has teamed up with the country music star, as he used his patriotic anthem often as his entrance song during his rallies and occasionally during events at the White House during his term as president.

The Bible will also feature the United States Constitution, Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, The Pledge of Allegiance, as well as a handwritten chorus of “God Bless The USA,” according to the website.

TRUMP TOPS BIDEN WITH DOUBLE-DIGIT LEAD IN DEEP-RED STATE BEING TARGETED BY DEMOCRATS: POLL

The Bible is also described as being easy-to-read with large print, having a slim design, and was designed to deliver an easy reading experience in the trusted King James Version translation.

“Religion and Christianity are the biggest things missing from this country. And I truly believe that we need to bring them back and have to bring them back fast,” Trump said in a video. “I think it’s one of the biggest problems we have. That’s why our country is going haywire. We’ve lost religion in our country.”

The website also states that GodBlessTheUSABible.com is not political and has nothing to do with any political campaign.

This latest move comes as the former president has faced a serious money crunch amid mounting legal bills while he fights four criminal indictments along with a series of civil charges.

Trump saw some relief on Monday as the appeals court slashed his bond payment, saying Trump must pay $175 million within the next 10 days.

Trump had previously faced a Monday deadline to pay a $454 million bond payment that came as a result of civil fraud allegations from New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Trump said he will “abide” by the appeals decision and post the $175 million bond.

If Trump does post the $175 million by the new deadline, it would effectively block James from attempts to seize Trump’s assets as he continues to appeal the judgment by New York Judge Arthur Engoron.

BlackRock CEO says Social Security’s retirement age ‘a bit crazy’ as crisis looms

BlackRock CEO Larry Fink sent his annual letter to investors on Tuesday in which he cited the “immense strain” on Social Security amid the aging of the U.S. population and the need to reform the retirement system given its looming insolvency.

Fink explained the economics behind Social Security, which collects taxes from people who are working to pay those in retirement who are receiving benefits: “During your working years, the government takes a portion of your income, then after you retire, it sends you a check every month. The idea actually originates from pre-World War I Germany, and these ‘old-age insurance’ programs gradually became more popular over the 20th Century largely because the demographics made sense.”

“Think about someone who was 65 years old in 1952, the year I was born. If he hadn’t retired already, that person was probably getting ready to stop working. But now think about that person’s former colleagues, all the people around his age who he’d entered the workforce with back in the 1910s. The data shows that in 1952, most of those people were not preparing for retirement because they’d already passed away,” Fink wrote.

SOCIAL SECURITY TRUST FUND ON PATH TO INSOLVENCY

Data from the Social Security Administration (SSA) shows that the ratio of covered workers paying taxes to the number of beneficiaries was 8.6 workers to beneficiaries as of 1955. That number declined to 2.8 as of 2013 due to the aging of the U.S. population.

Fink noted that Americans’ longevity in retirement is also straining the financial health of Social Security and wrote that, “Today, if you’re married and both you and your spouse are over the age of 65, there’s a 50/50 chance that at least one of you will be receiving a Social Security check until you’re 90.”

Ticker Security Last Change Change %
BLK BLACKROCK INC. 820.21 +3.86 +0.47%

“All this is putting the U.S. retirement system under immense strain,” Fink added. “The Social Security Administration itself says that by 2034, it won’t be able to pay people their full benefits. What’s the solution here? No one should have to work longer than they want to. But I do think it’s a bit crazy that our anchor idea for the right retirement age — 65 years old — originates from the time of the Ottoman Empire.”

SOCIAL SECURITY CUTS COULD BE COMING SOON – HERE’S WHO WILL BE AFFECTED

Social Security’s two major trust funds help augment payroll taxes as a source of funding to pay out benefits to beneficiaries, but those are projected to be exhausted a decade from now. Once the trust funds are depleted, incoming payroll taxes will be the sole source of funding for benefits, and under current law, automatic cuts would kick in to match benefits paid to incoming recipients.

An analysis by the nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget last year found the average dual-income couple retiring in 2033 would see a benefit cut of 23%, or $17,400 in current-dollar annual benefits — while a single income couple would see benefits cut by $13,100.

SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE ARE ON THE ROCKS – AND NO LEADER IN EITHER PARTY WANTS TO STEP UP

Fink’s letter noted that the Netherlands moved to address financial challenges impacting its state pension over a decade ago by gradually raising the retirement age and automatically tying it to changes in life expectancy.

He suggested that the U.S. should have a conversation about what the average retirement age should be, as well as ways to incentivize more people to work longer rather than retiring to boost the labor force participation rate.

Whoopi Goldberg gets up during show, calls out audience member: ‘I can see you’

Whoopi Goldberg called out an audience member during the live broadcast of “The View” on Tuesday for presumably using a camera to record, and told the person not to pull it out again.

While discussing former President Trump’s bond payment, which was reduced to $175 million on Monday, Goldberg interrupted co-host Sunny Hostin and got up to reprimand the audience member.

“Sir, I have to stop you with the camera. Because I can see you. So do me a favor, don’t pull it out again. I’d appreciate that. Thank you,” Goldberg said.

Co-host Sara Haines also thanked the audience member, as co-host Joy Behar asked, “what was he doing?”

SEN. TIM SCOTT DRAWS BOOS IN CHAOTIC ‘THE VIEW’ APPEARANCE, FORCING WHOOPI GOLDBERG TO APOLOGIZE

Goldberg returned to her seat as Hostin resumed talking.

The liberal co-host has scolded the show’s live audience before, mostly during interviews with Republican guests.

Goldberg has attempted to stop the show’s audience from booing Republican guests such as Kellyanne Conway, New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu and Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C.

During Scott’s interview on “The View” in June 2023, Goldberg said, “This is ‘The View.’ We accept – we don’t have to believe everything people say, but you cannot boo people here, please. You cannot do it. Please continue.”

WHOOPI GOLDBERG SCOLDS ‘THE VIEW’ AUDIENCE FOR BOOING KELLYANNE CONWAY

Behar recently called out male members of the audience during their interview with Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford. While discussing Ford’s new book, detailing her experience in testifying before the Senate during the Kavanaugh hearings, Behar asked about the thousands of letters Ford received in support.

Ford noted just 10% of the letters were from males.

“They need to understand, they have to step up to help us. We can’t do this ourselves. I notice, I watch when people were clapping. Some of the men did not clap in this audience,” Behar said, gesturing toward those in attendance.

After the interruption on Tuesday, Hostin argued Trump’s decreased bond payment was “very appropriate,” and declared she was comfortable with it.

“The lowering of the bond was very appropriate, right? We always say that we want everyone to be treated across the legal spectrum in the same way and that we want the law to apply equally in the same way, bonds are not supposed to be punitive,” Hostin said. “They are only supposed to make sure that the person returns to court and answers, you know, whatever charges have been alleged.”

‘Exceptional’ two-headed snake undergoes major surgery in Missouri

A non-venomous, two-headed snake’s statewide journey has come to a halt after the reptile underwent major surgery this month.

Tiger-Lily, the rare western rat snake with two heads, was set to leave the Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) Powder Valley Nature Center on March 18 until a team member discovered that Tiger-Lily had an “emerging health condition,” according to a recent press release issued by MDC officials.

While Tiger-Lily was under supervision, Lauren Baker, a naturalist at the MDC, found traces of blood after the snake sneezed during a feeding.

AUSTRALIAN GIRL SWINGS LARGE SNAKE SEVERAL TIMES TO RESCUE PET GUINEA PIG: VIDEO

“This immediately raised a red flag with our staff, and we quickly got her an appointment with the Animal Health Team at the Saint Louis Zoo,” Baker said, according to the press release.

After evaluating the reptile’s health, the team found that her ovaries were in a “pre-ovulatory stasis.”

“Under normal circumstances the ovary would grow follicles, then ovulate them as eggs to eventually be laid,” said Dr. Michael Warshaw, staff veterinarian at the Saint Louis Zoo.

“In Tiger-Lily’s case she began the reproductive cycle, but the follicles did not ovulate and instead continued to grow and remain static in her ovary,” he added. “Over time, this led to inflammation and the risk of infection.”

TWO-HEADED TORTOISE IS TURNING 25 YEARS OLD WITH A SPECIAL CELEBRATION

The Saint Louis Zoo’s veterinary team ultimately decided that the best course of action for the health of the snake was to remove the abnormal ovaries.

Tiger-Lily underwent surgery at the Saint Louis Zoo’s Endangered Species Research Center and Veterinary Hospital on March 11, the MDC reported.

On March 15, the team shared that the reptile’s ovaries had been successfully removed.

Tiger-Lily has been recovering since the announcement and had to postpone an MDC sites tour while under the supervision of veterinarians.

Her recovery is believed to take about a month. She will then continue on the statewide tour by visiting the Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center in Kansas City, the press release said.

“We appreciate the Saint Louis Zoo’s quick response and expert treatment. I am so happy that our two-headed gal is getting the care she needs, and we’re all wishing her a safe and speedy recovery,” Baker said.

The care of this unique reptile has been a collaboration between the Saint Louis Zoo and the MDC.

“The Saint Louis Zoo and MDC have a long history of partnering together for the care of Missouri’s native wildlife and we are happy to have played a part in caring for this exceptional animal,” Dr. Chris Hanley, director of animal health at the Saint Louis Zoo, shared in the recent release.

Tiger-Lily was first discovered in 2017 in Stone County and was named by a family who found her, the MDC reported.

“Tiger-Lily is actually a pair of conjoined identical snake twins that were never completely separated,” MDC officials said.

“Such snakes are rarely seen in the wild, partly because snakes born this way have a low survival rate.”

Fox News Digital reached out to the MDC and the Saint Louis Zoo for comment.
