WATCH: Governor leaves wake for slain NYPD officer after tense confrontation

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul appeared to leave the wake of slain New York City Police Officer Jonathan Diller just minutes after arriving at the funeral home on Friday afternoon, video showed.

Video showed the governor speaking with a man outside the Massapequa Funeral Home on Long Island, then turning around and heading out. Clapping could be heard as she left.

The incident came a day after the NYPD’s Sergeants Benevolent Association President Vincent Vallelong said in a letter to union members, “I’m sure that many elected officials will attend PO Diller’s funeral, shed a few crocodile tears, and prominently seat themselves for a good photo opportunity. The sad reality is we don’t want them there.”

NYPD JONATHAN DILLER SHOOTING: SUSPECT GUY RIVERA CHARGED WITH MURDER, ATTEMPTED MURDER IN ATTACK ON OFFICERS

“Their presence is more than a distraction,” Vallelong continued. “It is a stain on the legacy of a true hero who made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as the scores of dedicated and committed public servants who will carry on his mission despite their constant criticism, cynicism, negativity, and frivolous accusations.”

SUSPECTS IN SHOOTING DEATH OF NYPD OFFICER JONATHAN DILLER IDENTIFIED, HAVE LENGTHY RECORDS

Former President Trump attended Diller’s wake on Thursday, saying, “The Diller family will never be the same – you can never be the same, and we have to stop it. We have to get back to law and order.”

Vallelong said he found it infuriating to see city politicians who have supported movements to “defund” police and let criminals out of jail posting politically motivated condolences on social media.

Diller was fatally shot on Monday during a traffic stop in Queens after a man with 21 prior arrests allegedly shot him in the stomach as Diller was trying to get the suspect, Guy Rivera, 34, to exit the vehicle. Rivera opened fire on Diller and his partner at about 5:45 p.m. Monday. The officers approached the vehicle because it was illegally parked at a bus stop.

Diller was 31 years old and lived in Massapequa Park with his wife and nearly 1-year-old son, Fox News Digital previously reported. He had served three years with the NYPD before his death.

Rivera, who was sitting in the passenger’s seat, was injured when the officers returned fire. He was charged with first degree murder of a police officer, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the case, police announced this week.

Another man who was in the vehicle at the time of Diller’s death, Lindy Jones, was also charged following the death, including for criminal possession of a weapon and defacing a weapon.

Volunteers searching for autistic teen forced to make impossible choice after threats

The search for missing Tennessee teenager Sebastian Rogers has taken another twist with the volunteer force looking for the 15-year-old boy with autism claiming its members have received threats – forcing them to scale back their search efforts.

United Cajun Navy, a non-profit search and rescue group, announced Friday that it had called off its search for the day due to “increasing security concerns” surrounding its operations to find Rogers, who has been missing for more than a month since he left his bedroom in Hendersonville barefoot and with a flashlight.

“Today’s search for Sebastian Rogers has been called off. Due to increasing security concerns and with the upcoming Easter holiday, the decision has been made as of this morning to pull back and regroup,” the group posted to Facebook. “This decision was not taken lightly [and was] made with the safety of all volunteers in mind. We want to thank all the volunteers that planned to be out searching today.”

MISSING TENNESSEE TEEN SEBASTIAN ROGERS’ MOTHER DEFENDS LEAVING NEIGHBORHOOD AFTER ‘THREATENING’ MESSAGES

The post did not go into detail about the threats, but Brian Trascher, the vice-president of the United Cajun Navy, tells Fox News Digital that two of the group’s members have received threats.

Trascher says that a male volunteer was confronted by a man in a hotel parking lot and intimidated him.

A female volunteer, Trascher says, was also threatened over the phone by another man, a recording of which he shared with Fox News Digital.

In the tape, the man calls up the female volunteer and accuses the woman and another volunteer of driving onto his property and drawing a crowd. He says that he contacted the sheriff’s office about the incident.

“We are letting the community know about you,” the man says, claiming he was making the call to make sure the group aren’t doing anything illegal. “You guys are just out of control and we as a community are going to make sure you guys get out of here.”

The female volunteer goes on to say that the person who she was with in the car is a local and that the vehicle in question was trying to turn around at the time. She said that she even tried phoning the man ahead of time for guidance on where to park.

Trascher says that the incidents have raised safety concerns for his team, resulting in the public search being called off. They will continue searching for Rogers privately but won’t be disclosing the search locations.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office but did not receive a response.

The incident is the latest twist in the puzzling case.

The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office issued an Amber Alert for Sebastian last month after he was last seen in the area of Stafford Court.

Sebastian’s mother, Katie Proudfoot, told “Fox & Friends” on Thursday morning that the family do not know where he is.

“Honestly, we don’t know where he is… We haven’t found any substantial evidence to locate where he’s been or where we went,” Proudfoot said. That’s why we’re pleading for help.”

TENNESSEE POLICE SEARCHING KENTUCKY LANDFILL IN CONNECTION WITH DISAPPEARANCE OF MISSING AUTISTIC TEEN

Katie said she overheard noise coming from Sebastian’s room on the evening of Feb. 25 and told him to keep it down. The next morning, he was gone.

Following the teenager’s disappearance, Katie drove about three hours away from home to meet up with her husband and Sebastian’s stepfather, Chris Proudfoot, prompting some to wonder why she would travel so far from the area where her son was last seen.

“We are posting fliers every direction we can. But at the same time, there were quite a bit of people that were sending some very threatening and hateful messages to us. They’re following us. They’re driving past our house at all hours of the day or night, disturbing the neighborhood, and the neighborhood is very upset and concerned. They’re worried about their safety at this point,” Katie said, adding that she felt that leaving the neighborhood would help calm things down.

Seth Rogers, Sebastian’s father, told WSMV that he is searching the Natchez Trace State Park in West Tennessee, because he fears his son may have been “dropped off” there, but he did not specify why he thought so.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is encouraging Hendersonville locals to “to check their property, their outbuildings, under decks, inside boats or cars …anywhere a teen may be able to hide.” First responders covered about 2,000 total miles within the first few days of their search for the missing 15-year-old, according to the agency.

“At this stage in the investigation, there are few clues to indicate what happened to Sebastian, or where he may be,” the FBI said in a March 22 update. “There is no proof at this time that there is any criminal element involved in his disappearance. But also, there is not any proof that there is not a criminal element involved. So agents and investigators are reviewing any possibility at all that may indicate where Sebastian is.”

Sebastian is described as a white male, standing 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 120 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, black sweatpants and glasses.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Sumner County Emergency Communications Center at 615-451-3838 or the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND.

Jerry Seinfeld gets serious about ‘lots of fights’ with A-list actor: ‘He’s horrible’

Despite getting in “lots of fights” while working together on an upcoming project, Jerry Seinfeld says he still loves Hugh Grant “so much.”

During a recent interview, the comedian, who is making his film directorial debut with the upcoming movie “Unfrosted,” got candid about his professional relationship with the British actor and explained why he’s a “pain in the a–” to work with.

“We had lots of fights,” Seinfeld said. “He’s a pain in the a– to work with. He’s horrible. He tells you before you work with him, ‘You’re gonna hate this.’ And he’s so right.”

However, Seinfeld said, the tension between them on set quickly fizzled after getting to know one another off set.

“We shot for 10 weeks, and that night that he and I had dinner – and we got drunk having dinner – that was the greatest night,” Seinfeld said during his appearance on “The Tonight Show.” “Because he’s so cool and he’s that English thing, you know, that witty, he looks good in a jacket … he’s one of those guys. I love those guys.”

Grant, who portrays Thurl Ravenscroft, the voice behind Tony the Tiger, recently opened up about how Seinfeld made him feel “very supportive.”

“Jerry brings different things to the table,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “He’s a brilliant comic, and he’d written a great script. He and his team are able to massage the scene and the whole time and come up with new jokes left, right and center. He was lovely and very supportive of me.”

While Seinfeld admitted that he did not initially think of Grant to play the part, he ultimately hopped on board.

“The character is Thurl Ravenscroft, which is the real name of the guy who did the voice of Tony the Tiger. And so I imagined a frustrated Shakespearean actor who has to play this embarrassing character to make his car payments, and Hugh Grant is perfect for that,” he told “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon. “I did not think of Hugh Grant for the part … and I love Hugh Grant so much.”

“Then he called us,” he added. “He said, ‘I want to be in the Pop-Tart movie. So I got the script, and he did an audition on his phone, with a glass of wine in the other hand, by the way.”

White House bans religious-themed designs from Easter egg art contest

Children of the National Guard are prohibited from submitting religious Easter egg designs for the 2024 “Celebrating National Guard Families” art event at the White House.

The art contest is part of the White House’s Easter traditions, which include the annual Easter Egg Roll. The flyer for the contest states that an Easter egg design submission “must not include any questionable content, religious symbols, overtly religious themes, or partisan political statements.”

“As part of the White House Easter traditions, America’s Egg Farmers – for nearly 50 years – have proudly presented an intricately decorated Commemorative Easter Egg to the First Lady of the United States. In 2021, the White House expanded on this longstanding tradition by displaying youth-designed Easter eggs in the White House East Colonnade,” the flyer explains.

“On behalf of First Lady Jill Biden, The Adjutants General of the National Guard are asking youth from National Guard families across the United States and all U.S. territories to submit artwork inspired by the theme ‘Celebrating our Military Families,’” the flyer continues.

Children are asked to design eggs with images based on their own lives. “Selected designs representing the unique experience and stories of National Guard children will be brought to life on real hen eggs by talented egg artists from across the country and displayed at the White House this Easter and Passover season,” the flyer says.

Children also can’t promote material that promotes “bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age” in their designs.

Selected designs will be painted by artists on real eggs and displayed at the White House.

EASTER BUNNY TEACHES KIDS ‘TRUE MEANING’ OF EASTER IN NEW BOOK WITH FAITH FOCUS

The White House announced Thursday that the annual Easter Egg Roll would follow an “EGGucation” theme as it has in years past.

“A teacher for more than 30 years, First Lady Jill Biden is continuing her theme of ‘EGGucation’ for the event, transforming the South Lawn and Ellipse into a school community, full of fun educational activities for children of all ages to enjoy,” a statement from the White House read. An estimated 40,000 people are expected to take part in Monday’s annual event.

In addition to the egg roll and Easter egg hunt, the event will also include a Physical “EGGucation” (PE) Zone, a School House Activity Area, Reading Nook, Field Trip to the Farm, Picture Day and a snack tent. Children’s entertainment, including “educational acts and performances,” will be shown on a “School House stage” on the South Lawn.

Poland puts Europe on notice: ‘Don’t want to scare anyone,’ but get ready for war

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk urged European nations to step up investment in their defense, saying the continent isn’t ready for the current “prewar era.”

Tusk made the remarks during a recent interview with various European newspapers.

“I don’t want to scare anyone, but war is no longer a concept from the past,” he said before referring to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. “It’s real and it started over two years ago.”

RUSSIA’S WAR ON UKRAINE UNLIKELY TO END IN 2024; CONGRESS PLAYS PIVOTAL ROLE IN DIRECTION CONFLICT TAKES

Russia has intensified airstrikes against its neighbor. Recently, Russian missiles briefly breached Polish airspace during an attack on Ukraine. That prompted Warsaw to put its forces on heightened readiness.

Moscow has escalated its attacks in recent days, launching several missile barrages on the capital, Kyiv, and hitting energy infrastructure across the country in apparent retaliation for recent Ukrainian aerial attacks on the Russian border region of Belgorod.

On Friday, Italian news agency AGI reported that Italian fighter jets at a Polish military base in Malbork intercepted two Russian spy aircraft in the Baltic Sea. The Russian aircraft were not authorized to be in NATO airspace, the report said.

No one was harmed, and the Russian planes did not have “hostile intentions.”

Tusk called for urgent assistance for Ukraine to defend itself and urged more cooperation between Poland, Germany and France.

“We are living in the most critical moment since the end of the second world war,” he said. “I know it sounds devastating, especially to people of the younger generation, but we have to mentally get used to the arrival of a new era. The prewar era.”

Tusk also called out Russian President Vladimir Putin for attempting to link the terrorist attack on Moscow’s Crocus City Hall to Ukraine without evidence.

“Evidently feels the need to justify increasingly violent attacks on civil targets in Ukraine,” Tusk said.

SEE PICS: Federal raid on Diddy’s Miami mansion rocks exclusive hideout for A-listers

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Miami home in the exclusive Star Island sector of South Florida was one of the targets raided Monday in an ongoing Homeland Security investigation.

Known for its prestigious real estate across 86 acres of land, the gated community is a haven for celebrities seeking extreme privacy and is only accessible by boat or across a single bridge that connects the island to MacArthur Causeway.

The elite island was also where HSI officials descended earlier this week as part of their bicoastal raids on Diddy’s homes. A U.S. official confirmed to Fox News the raids on his homes were connected to a federal human trafficking investigation. It is unclear if the rapper is the target of the federal agents’ investigation.

“Star Island is aptly named,” Realtor Ivan Chorney of the Ivan and Mike Team at Compass told FOX Business. “It is comprised of the most beautiful homes, and the surrounding area is manicured to perfection. It is not only exclusive but filled with mega-mansions all on the water with incredible private docks.

SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS HUMAN TRAFFICKING INVESTIGATION RAID IS ‘JUST THE BEGINNING’ OF LEGAL HURDLES: EXPERT

“This private gated community boasts private security, is accessible via bridge and is close to downtown, where all the best restaurants are. It is also minutes away from the airport, which is ideal for these Fortune 500, celebrity and tycoon owners

“If you want to be near the action, yet have privacy and exclusivity, it does not get any better than Star Island,” he noted. “From a real estate perspective, it is very rare for one of these homes to come to market; they always trade off-market. This only adds to the allure of Star Island.”

Diddy’s a longtime resident of the man-made island near the heart of Miami. The Bad Boy Records founder first moved into the neighborhood in 2003 when he purchased Tommy Mottola’s sprawling nine-bedroom, 12-bathroom estate for $14.5 million.

Nearly 20 years later, he shelled out $35 million to purchase the home next door, 1 Star Island, which was previously owned by Gloria and Emilio Estefan. The 1.3-acre property boasts an 8,000-square-foot mansion with six bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, in addition to an immaculate outdoor oasis.

RAPPER SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS’ HOMES RAIDED BY HOMELAND SECURITY

Diddy was known to host hundreds of people at an annual New Year’s Eve bash on the island, which also drew his celebrity pals, including DJ Khaled, The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Future, Scottie Pippen, Jermaine Dupri and others.

He led the welcoming committee in July when Rick Ross moved in down the street and purchased a $37 million mansion, a rare occurrence on the island in South Florida, which boasts fewer than 40 homes.

“This your housewarming gift,” Diddy said while giving Ross his own golf cart. “You not moving in ’cause you just got approved by the community board. … This is an intimate space. This is really private. He doesn’t let nobody in here. This is Star Island. But this right here is my housewarming gift because around Star Island – you could walk around Star Island, but it’s better to drive.”

“I’m not playing with you, Rozay. No f—ing parties. No pool parties. I’m the head of the [committee], I don’t do none of that s—. You hear me? Rozay, we not doing none of that.”

SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS DECLARES INNOCENCE AFTER FEDERAL AGENTS RAID HIS HOMES

Lourdes Alatriste of Douglas Elliman told FOX Business, “Star Island has always lived up to its name and been somewhat of a ‘playground’ for celebrities.’ Don Johnson lived there during the ‘Miami Vice’ days. Vanilla Ice lived there. Lisa and Donald Pliner lived at 29 Star Island. They sold to Trudy and Paul Cejas.

“He was the U.S. Ambassador to Belgium, appointed by President Clinton. Rosie O’Donnell lived at 43 Star; she sold to David and Linda Frankel. Shaquille O’Neal lived at 26 Star Island when he played for the Miami Heat. His property was comprised of two lots totaling 106,888 square feet. He sold it in 2009 to Naomi Campbell’s billionaire boyfriend, Vladislav Doronin, for $16 million.”

Alatriste added, “In 2020, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez purchased 14 Star Island for $24 million from Ken Griffin. They later sold it back to Griffin, who also owns 13 Star.”

Santiago Arana of The Agency told FOX Business, “I believe Star Island is a perfect place for someone that obviously has the money to choose where to be and wants to be in an exclusive pocket in the middle of all the action.”

A neighbor who lives across the street from the island told the Miami Herald Monday that parties were “frequent” at Diddy’s mansion, with people “coming and going at all hours, their cars parked along the exclusive island’s single palm-lined road.”

“Star Island has always lived up to its name and been somewhat of a ‘playground’ for celebrities.”

The following morning, the outlet reported that a white Range Rover with a realty company sign was parked outside the home, a possible indicator Diddy could be selling the mansion raided for nearly eight hours by HSI authorities.

Diddy denied the “meritless accusations” waged against him as he spoke out for the first time Tuesday following the raids.

“Yesterday, there was a gross overuse of military-level force as search warrants were executed at Mr. Combs’ residences,” his attorney, Aaron Dyer, said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital.

“There is no excuse for the excessive show of force and hostility exhibited by authorities or the way his children and employees were treated. Mr. Combs was never detained but spoke to and cooperated with authorities. Despite media speculation, neither Mr. Combs nor any of his family members have been arrested nor has their ability to travel been restricted in any way.

“This unprecedented ambush — paired with an advanced, coordinated media presence — leads to a premature rush to judgment of Mr. Combs and is nothing more than a witch hunt based on meritless accusations made in civil lawsuits,” he added. “There has been no finding of criminal or civil liability with any of these allegations. Mr. Combs is innocent and will continue to fight every single day to clear his name.”

Liberal columnist lashes out after going viral for dancing at X-rated awards show with mask

Washington Post columnist Taylor Lorenz went viral among her conservative critics after attending the Pornhub Awards.

Lorenz, The Post’s tech and online culture columnist, took to Instagram on Thursday with various posts from the X-rated ceremony in West Hollywood.

Notre Dame star calls out ‘BS’ nose ring decision after crushing loss

Notre Dame women’s basketball star Hannah Hidalgo was the subject of some controversy during the team’s stunning loss to Oregon State in the NCAA Tournament Friday.

The issue stemmed from the nose ring Hidalgo wore during the game. She was forced to miss a few minutes of the second quarter as the team’s training staff attempted to remove it.

NCAA women’s basketball Rule 1-25.7 states that no jewelry is permitted to be worn during games. However, Hidalgo had worn the nose ring through the entire season and in the first two games of the tournament.

She also told ESPN one official told her she was able to wear the nose ring as long as she covered it up, but it became a bigger issue once the second quarter began.

“I thought it was BS, because I’m on a run, I’m on a roll,” she said. “I scored two baskets and then, having to sit out for all that time, I was starting to get cold. I think (the officials) were worried about the wrong things. They should have reffed the game.”

Oregon State won the game, 70-65.

“All of us over the spring, over the summer and into this year, we came in with the mindset of understanding what we needed to accomplish defensively in order to win those close games,” Beavers star Timea Gardiner said.

Expert chooses sides after drunk husband denied flight — and wife takes off without him

A woman who left her husband behind at the airport after he was prevented from boarding a plane for a trip to see her parents was right to do so — and she may also want to reconsider her relationship, said other Reddit users in response to the unusual personal drama.

Reddit user “CantaloupeLife7504” asked readers of Reddit’s “Am I the A–hole” (AITA) subreddit this week to weigh in on her situation in a post titled, “AITA for not deplaning with my husband after he was kicked off for being too drunk?”

The woman, who is 28, wrote that she and her husband, “Adam,” age 30, had recently married and were planning a trip to visit her father in another country.

REDDIT USER ISSUED ‘CURFEW’ BY ROOMMATE SEEKS ADVICE FOR COLLEGE SLEEP DRAMA

Both the woman and her husband are of the same ethnic background, she said (she did not provide more details) and speak the same native language — though she is more fluent and visits her family’s “home country” more often, she said.

“My parents are divorced, and around the time I started dating Adam, my dad moved back to our home country. I regularly call him, but since he moved he has come to see me twice and then was at my wedding,” said CantaloupeLife7504.

Her father, she said, does not approve of Adam — which has caused fights in the past between CantaloupeLife7504 and her husband, as she thinks he did not put in sufficient effort to bond with her parents.

“I have been planning a trip to my home country to surprise my dad and asked Adam to come as well,” wrote the woman.

“He agreed and then balked when I said we were going to stay with my dad and made what I thought was a joke about having to drink before meeting him — I didn’t find it funny and Adam later apologized.”

REDDIT RELATIONSHIP DRAMA GOES VIRAL AS WOMAN DITCHES DATE WHO LIED TO HER ABOUT HIS AGE

But this was not a joke. By the time CantaloupeLife7504 arrived at the airport on Tuesday shortly after her husband got there, he was drunk — and was not allowed to board the plane.

“I called my [brother-in-law], who could take care of Adam, and left my BIL’s phone number with the attendant taking care of Adam, and I stayed on the flight,” wrote CantaloupeLife7504.

She continued, “My home country is far, so tickets are expensive and I took leave from work for the trip.”

CantaloupeLife7504’s decision to board the flight and leave her husband behind made him very upset, she wrote.

He claimed his wife “left him in a situation where he was drunk and if roles were reversed he would have never left me alone when I was drunk.”

She added, “But I don’t think that is fair.”

Fox News Digital reached out to CantaloupeLife7504 for further comments and updates.

REDDIT DRAMA ABOUT DISNEY TRIP BY GRANDMA AND KIDS GOES VIRAL AS SHE REFUSES TO APOLOGIZE TO FAMILY

An etiquette expert told Fox News Digital that CantaloupeLife7504 needs to have a talk with both her father and her husband before this becomes an even bigger problem — and that leaving him behind at the airport was OK.

“When there’s a history of contention, we can make the choice to adjust our attitude,” said California-based etiquette expert Rosalinda Randall.

“If your spouse got off on the wrong foot with your parent, sit down and talk about it with your dad and husband, separately, of course,” she said.

“If not, you’ll have a drunk husband for the rest of your life.”

Given the circumstances of this trip, said Randall — since it was expensive and required time off from work — “the decision to stay or go would require a moment to weigh your options.”

Some 6,000 people reacted to the woman’s story, with more than 700 comments posted.

If the husband was “coherent-drunk” and able to find his way to a ride from the airport, the woman was justified in “finding her seat and settling in” on the plane.

“If the husband often got drunk when he couldn’t handle life’s events, find your seat and settle in – and rethink including him on future trips back home,” she said.

On the subreddit, people can reply to posts and indicate the poster is “NTA” (“Not the A–hole”), “YTA” (“You’re the A–hole”), “NAH” (“No A–holes Here”) or “ESH” (“Everyone Sucks Here”).

Users can also “upvote” responses they think are helpful and “downvote” ones that are not.

Some 6,000 people reacted to the woman’s story, with more than 700 comments posted. Most of the over 700 replies supported her decision to leave her husband at the airport — and warned that she might have a larger problem on her hands than just one trip.

“This man deliberately tried to ruin your time with your father because your father doesn’t think highly of him,” said Reddit user “saintandvillian” in the top-upvoted comment.

The same user continued, “Let me guess, your father picked up on Adam being immature, spiteful, selfish and poor-mannered.”

Adam “made a conscious decision to get drunk. I’m sure if he were to suddenly become so ill that he couldn’t fly you would have stayed with him,” said Reddit user “CommittedIndecisive” in another top comment.

“This isn’t something that just happened to him or something you did to him.”

“But this isn’t something that just happened to him or something you did to him. He made a decision to do this to himself and had no one else to blame. Enjoy your visit with your dad,” wrote CommittedIndecisive.

Other users expressed concern that the husband may have an alcohol problem.
