Female GOP candidate with famous last name shatters state fundraising record

FIRST ON FOX — The daughter of New Mexico’s last Republican senator has set a new fundraising record for a GOP Senate candidate in the blue-leaning southwestern state.

Nella Domenici’s campaign announced early Friday that the candidate brought in over $1.25 million from mid-January, when she launched her bid, through the end of last month, which brought to a close the January-March first quarter of 2024 fundraising. Domenici’s campaign cash figures were shared first with Fox News Digital.

Domenici, the daughter of former longtime Republican Sen. Pete Domenici, is the presumptive GOP nominee and is aiming to defeat Democrat Sen. Martin Heinrich, who is running in November for a third six-year term representing New Mexico in the Senate

The $1.25 million haul is being touted as the largest fundraising total of any Republican U.S. Senate candidate in New Mexico history for the first quarter of an election year.

DAUGHTER OF NEW MEXICO’S LAST GOP SENATOR LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN

Domenici’s campaign also showcased that she received donations from more than 1,100 individuals.

“What an incredible outpouring of broad support in such a short amount of time – New Mexico is truly ready for a change,” Domenici said in a statement.

And she argued that “for too long, New Mexico has been hurt by career politicians like Martin Heinrich who have put their extreme progressive ideology ahead of solving problems and the best interests of New Mexicans.”

Henrich has yet to announce his first-quarter fundraising. He brought in nearly $4.5 million last year and ended 2023 with roughly $3.5 million cash-on-hand in his campaign coffers, according to filings with the Federal Election Commission.

Pete Domenici served for 36 years in the Senate before retiring at the beginning of 2009 at the end of his sixth term.

The legacy of her father, who died in 2017, gives the younger Domenici a powerful political brand and plenty of name recognition in New Mexico.

And with decades of her own experience in the finance industry at Bridgewater Associates (where she served as chief financial officer), Credit Suisse and Citadel Investment group, Domenici comes with a broad fundraising network of her own. She said when announcing her bid that she would make an initial investment of a half million dollars.

Domenici also has the backing of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, the campaign arm of the Senate GOP, which encouraged her run.

But New Mexico, which was once a general election battleground, in recent cycles has shifted to the left and is no longer considered a crucial swing state.

President Biden carried the state by 10 points in 2020, and it’s been 15 years since a Republican held a Senate seat in the state.

And Heinrich won re-election in 2018, which was a blue-wave cycle, by more than 30 points.

Abbott says he will send migrants to sanctuary cities ‘until we get a new president’

Texas will continue to bus illegal immigrants pouring across its border to sanctuary cities “until we get a new president,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott told a Manhattan crowd on Thursday – just hours after New York City Mayor Eric Adams criticized the Republican’s handling of the crisis and offered him a free stay at one of the Big Apple’s migrant shelters.

Abbott’s comments came during his keynote address at the New York Republican Party’s annual gala, at which the Lone Star State governor and other high-profile Republicans took aim at Adams and the Biden administration due to the continuing influx of illegal immigrants entering the U.S.

“The complaining by Mayor Adams is nothing short [of] stunning,” Abbott told those at the event, which was held just a few blocks away from a hotel that Adams’ administration transformed into an intake center for migrants. “What he has is a tiny fraction of what Texas gets every day.”

ADAMS TOUTS NYC’S ABILITY TO ‘MANAGE’ MIGRANT CRISIS, OFFERS ABBOTT FREE STAY AT SHELTER DURING TRIP

Abbott, explaining why he began bussing illegal immigrants who arrived in Texas to sanctuary cities around the nation, said he had decided to do so after several local officials in his state had expressed concern about the number of migrants being dropped off by federal authorities in their communities.

Initially, Abbott said he planned to bus the migrants only to Washington, D.C., because “neither Joe Biden nor the border czar [Vice President Kamala Harris] had actually been to the border to see the chaos and cost.”

“My thought process was, if they’re not going to come to the border, we’re going to take the border to them,” he said.

Abbott said he then decided to bus migrants to New York City after Adams criticized the governor’s handling of the issue.

“Quite literally out of nowhere, Eric Adams starts criticizing me for sending them to New York City,” Abbott said. “We made clear, by contacting his office, and said, ‘We’re not sending them to New York.’ We issued press releases to the press saying we’re not sending migrants to New York – that’s Joe Biden sending them to New York.”

But when Empire State officials refused to back off their claims, Abbott said he decided to turn rhetoric into reality.

“If I’m going to get the criticism, I want to get the credit,” he told the gala attendees. “And thus began the busing of illegal immigrants to the sanctuary city of New York City.”

Roughly 180,000 illegal immigrants have arrived in New York City since 2022, overwhelming city resources as officials struggle to find housing for them. It’s estimated that at least 107,000 have been bussed in from Texas.

“We are going to have to maintain this process until we get a new president next November who will secure the border of the United States of America,” Abbott said.

Bearing down on President Biden, Abbott said the administration’s policy decisions have led to “chaos” and created an “extraordinarily dangerous” situation in his state.

ILLEGAL MIGRANT DEPORTED 8 TIMES WITH 11 ARRESTS NOW CHARGED WITH MURDER IN OHIO: ‘OUR BORDER IS BROKEN’

“Texas is ground zero for the broken border policy imposed by Joe Biden,” he said. “You know, the chaos that we’ve seen across the entire country — it seems like it’s been going on for so long that we can so easily forget that it was just four years ago that we had the lowest illegal border crossings in 45 years.”

Abbott praised the actions taken by former President Donald Trump to curb illegal immigration – actions that were then undone by Biden’s team.

“All-time records have been set with regard to the number of people on the terrorist watch lists who’ve been apprehended,” he said. “What none of us know right now is how many terrorists on the watch list evaded detection.”

Abbott also spoke about Biden’s claim that he needs Congress to step in and mitigate the issue of illegal immigration, with the governor accusing the president either of “lying” or having “no idea what he’s talking about.”

“The executive branch has not only the authority but the requirement, the mandate by Congress, to deny illegal entry into the United States,” Abbott said. “Biden is not doing that. He’s aiding and abetting illegal entry into the United States.”

House GOP Chair Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., and Republican National Committee Chair Michael Whatley were among the many prominent Republicans who also attended the event.

“Joe Biden has turned every state into a border state,” Stefanik said Thursday evening. “President Trump and Republicans will run, and we will win, on securing our border, once and for all.”

Prior to Abbott’s arrival in the Big Apple, Adams slammed the Texas Republican for his handling of the migrant crisis and facetiously offered him a complimentary stay at a migrant shelter during his trip to the city.

“I’m going to offer him a stay in one of the HERRCs, so he can see what he has created and understand how we are treating people with the dignity and respect that he should have shown as well,” Adams said at a press conference on Thursday, referring to the humanitarian emergency response and relief centers that have served as temporary housing facilities for migrants who arrive in the city.

Adams also appeared to brag about the city’s handling of the migrants who have arrived there during the last two years.

“I’m not quite sure why he’s here and what he’s doing while here, but he’s going to see how you can manage the crisis with the coordination of not one child of families sleeping on the streets of the city of New York,” he said of Abbott. “When we coordinate together, we should not displace problems to local municipalities. That is not what executives do. It is unfortunate that he made the decision to do that.”

Abbott said during a Thursday night appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” that Adams’ offer to let him sleep at a migrant shelter is “nothing more than a gimmick.”

New York City’s government has projected that it will spend at least $10.6 billion on migrants by summer 2025.

Diver suffers ultimate embarrassment in front of world leader

The unveiling of the new Aquatics Centre in Paris for the 2024 Summer Olympics had an awkward moment when one diver for France took a spill during the opening ceremony.

And it came in front of French President Emmanuel Macron.

Alexis Jandard, who starred for France in the Tokyo Olympics, had a bit of a mishap when he attempted a dive at the 154 million-euro Aquatics Centre, which will be used in this year’s Olympics.

Accompanied by two other divers on separate diving boards, Jandard was attempting a synchronized dive when his initial jump on the end of the board ended with him slipping instead of starting his somersault.

Jandard, the 2022 World Aquatics Championships silver medalist, saw his foot move completely off the board. After his back hit the board, he fell into the pool below. Luckily, it was only three meters above the pool.

2024 PARIS OLYMPICS: UNDERSTANDING IOC FRAMEWORK ON TRANSGENDER ATHLETE PARTICIPATION

The 26-year-old didn’t feel too embarrassed by falling on the dive, despite the distinguished guests who were present for the ceremony.

“I want to reassure you right away, there is no problem,” he said, via French outlet RMC Sport. “Everything is fine. I didn’t hurt myself, these are things that happen, unfortunately.”

Jandard’s leg just gave out when it made contact with the board. He reassured other divers looking forward to the Olympics that he had not slipped on something when his foot hit the board.

He even joked, “I’ve broken boards before, but the board has never broken me before.”

“It was live, so obviously we ended up like that. It’s a shame, but it’s funny. When you take a step back, it’s funny,” he said.

Convict Suge Knight delivers ominous warning for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs during jail call

Marion “Suge” Knight, the Death Row Records founder and a central figure in hip-hop’s infamous East Coast-West Coast feud in the 1990s, issued an ominous warning to his former rival Sean “Diddy” Combs in a phone call from prison last week.

“I tell you what, Puffy, your life is in danger because you know the secrets, who’s involved in that little secret room you guys [are] participating in,” Knight, 58, said in a call to his team, Breakbeat Media, the production company behind his “Collect Call” podcast, which he records over the phone from inside California’s Ronald Donovan Correctional Facility.

“You know they’re going to get you if they can,” he added.

Before adopting the moniker “Diddy,” Combs also used the names “Puff,” “Puff Daddy” and “Puffy,” and is often referred to as “Puff” by people who knew him during his rise to fame.

SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS BIKES AROUND MIAMI, APPEARING CAREFREE DAYS AFTER FEDERAL RAIDS

Knight’s full remarks are available on Breakbeat’s YouTube.

Police and federal agents with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) raided two properties owned by the 54-year-old Combs in March in what law enforcement sources have described as part of a human trafficking investigation.

While he took a couple of digs at Combs, questioning his masculinity and encouraging him to drop his “Love” moniker if he ever ends up behind bars, Knight called the entire situation nothing to “cheer about” and said he was praying for his rival’s many children.

SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS ACCUSERS CAN’T BE SILENCED BY NONDISCLOSURE AGREEMENTS IN TRAFFICKING PROBE: EXPERTS

“It’s a bad day for hip-hop, for the culture, for Black people, because when one looks bad, we all look bad,” he said. “That’s definitely not nothing to cheer about.”

Knight kicked off his podcast in October after teaming up with Breakbeat, the first-ever hip-hop podcast network created by The Source magazine founder David Mays.

Knight famously took a dig at Combs on stage at The Source Awards in 1995, shortly before the feud between Death Row and Bad Boy escalated.

Industry legends Tupac Shakur, signed to Death Row, and Notorious B.I.G., a Bad Boy artist, both died in drive-by shootings before the end of the decade.

Knight was in the car with Shakur when they were attacked in Las Vegas. Biggie, whose real name was Christopher Wallace, died in the arms of one of Combs’ bodyguards.

The cases prompted speculation and conspiracy theories for more than a decade. Police in Las Vegas finally announced an indictment in Shakur’s murder last year.

SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS PROBE: RECORD LABEL FIRES BACK AFTER MALE MUSIC PRODUCER ACCUSES MOGUL OF SEX ASSAULT

Knight has mentioned Combs in his podcast before. But the rivalry surfaced again last year in a lawsuit Casandra “Cassie” Ventura,” Combs’ former girlfriend, filed in November, when she alleged he armed himself and went chasing after Knight one night.

She accused Combs of rape and physical abuse and alleged in her civil complaint that while they were dating, he once heard Knight was nearby, grabbed multiple guns and “ran out of his home to where he believed Mr. Knight was dining.”

Combs settled the lawsuit with Ventura a day after she filed it in federal court.

SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS PROBE: SON’S LAWYER SLAMS FEDS FOR ‘DIRTYING’ JURY POOL, LEAKS

However, legal experts say any evidence she cited in the complaint can be subpoenaed as part of the federal criminal probe under way at HSI.

Combs, a billionaire who founded Bad Boy Records and the Sean John clothing line, did not appear fazed by the warning Thursday when he struck out from his luxe Miami mansion and took a bicycle ride toward South Beach.

The entertainment mogul has not been charged with a crime and has denied all the accusations of wrongdoing.

He and his lawyers have characterized some of the claims against him as an attempt at an undeserved payday.

While Combs found incredible success following his rise to fame in the 1990s, Knight went in the opposite direction.

Death Row went bankrupt and he lost the company.

Now, Knight is serving a 28-year prison sentence for the death of Terry Carter after taking a plea deal on manslaughter charges in 2018 to avoid a murder trial.

In January 2015, Knight got into an argument with another rival, Cle “Bone” Sloan, in Compton, California. He hit and injured Sloan with his truck and fatally struck Carter while driving away.

He will be eligible for parole in October 2034.

Dems blasted over leaked memo that says ‘quiet part out loud’ about registration

An internal memo showing panic within the Democratic Party over its “nonpartisan” voter registration efforts potentially helping former President Trump is drawing criticism from those who say the registration efforts were a “partisan scam” from the start.

Democrats across the country have become increasingly concerned over the amount of support Trump is pulling from usually reliable demographics and donors have been bickering over an internal memo casting doubt on whether the party should continue using nonprofits to register unregistered voters over fears it could help Trump, the Washington Post reported this week.

“Indeed, if we were to blindly register nonvoters and get them on the rolls, we would be distinctly aiding Trump’s quest for a personal dictatorship,” the memo explained, casting doubt on the longstanding Democrat voter registration push that typically has resulted in favorable results in previous elections.

The memo argues that Democrats should focus their registration efforts only in “specific, heavily pro-Biden populations” and the Washington Post explained that “the rise in Trump support among nonregistered voters has run up against a long-held Democratic policy priority of growing the voter rolls.”

DEM CAMPAIGN CALL REVEALS PANIC MODE OVER RFK JR.’S WHITE HOUSE BID, SCRAMBLE TO SAVE BIDEN RE-ELECTION HOPES

Some political analysts claimed the Washington Post article shows that some Democrat registration efforts that are labeled non-partisan are in fact working solely to register Democrats.

“Left-wing strategists accidentally said the quiet part out loud: their ‘non-partisan’ left-wing voter registration efforts have always been highly partisan operations designed to help Democrats,” Jason Snead, executive director of Honest Elections Project, told Fox News Digital.

“This admission raises grave questions about other programs the left also claims are ‘non-partisan,’ including President Biden’s executive order using taxpayers’ money to mobilize liberal voters. The press should take note of and remember this rare moment of honesty from the left the next time they cry ‘voter suppression.'”

“Democrats donors are now getting memos telling them to stop funding voter registration nonprofits because unregistered voters lean towards Trump,” investigative researcher Parker Thayer posted on X in response to the report.

“It’s all a partisan scam,” he added.

The memo comes as recent polling data suggests Biden is hemorrhaging support from key demographics that historically have been registered by Democrats and then voted for Democrats.

Gallup polling this year showed that Democrats currently hold the lowest lead they have had with Black voters over Republicans they have ever had dating back to when the polling began in 1999 and their 12-point advantage over Republicans with Hispanic voters is the lowest since 2011.

Polling also shows that young adults are supporting Democrats at their lowest level in almost two decades.

NEW HAMPSHIRE VOTERS FRUSTRATED WITH BIDEN, DNC FOR SKIPPING STATE: ‘WON’T GIVE US THE TIME OF DAY’

“By 2010, young adults were the only age category giving the Democrats an edge, and their Democratic orientation remained strong until it fell to just eight points in 2023, the slimmest since 2005,” Gallup explained.

In 2016, Gallup polling showed roughly 51% of non-registered voters identified as Democrat or lean Democrat compared to 31% who identified as Republican or lean Republican. Over the last year, that number for Democrats has sunk to 42% while the Republican number grew to 40%, WaPo reported.

Some Democrats pushed back in the WaPo story on the idea that registration efforts need to be re-tooled due to Trump’s strong polling numbers with reliable Democratic voters.

“If you’d ask me what keeps me up at night, it’s not that young people of color are going to defect to the Republican camp. My worst case scenario is that memos like this create a disinvestment — and that makes our job very hard,” Maria Teresa Kumar, president and CEO of Voto Latino, said, adding that the memo shows “implicit bias that the mainstream folks have internalized” and that it “does a disservice because it’s trying to pit communities against each other in ways that are not helpful.”

“From a nonpartisan perspective, we should help close the turnout gap, which means if Latinos, Blacks and Asian Americans are registered at lower rates, then we need to increase registration,” Biden pollster Matt Barreto told the Washington Post.

“The unregistered people of color are still leaning Democratic. They might need more of a push. But they are not leaning in the opposite direction.”

‘The Rock’ explains why he’s not endorsing Biden again for president

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson sounded off on cancel culture and why he would not be endorsing President Biden this election cycle, in an exclusive interview with “Fox & Friends.”

The actor and former WWE superstar explained how he values authenticity and finds the current push to not offend others aggravating because it forces people to be dishonest.

“To be real and to be direct and to be open and to be transparent….that’s important to me,” he explained to host Will Cain. “In today’s easy cancel culture world and cancel culture, woke culture, this culture, that culture division, etc., that really bugs me.”

Johnson said he’s come to learn that being “real” and honest is more important than worrying about being canceled.

DWAYNE ‘THE ROCK’ JOHNSON SAYS POLITICAL PARTIES APPROACHED HIM TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT: ‘ONE AFTER THE OTHER’

“You either succumb and be what you think other people want you to be, or you go, ‘No, that’s not who I am. I’m going to be myself and I’m going to be real.’ If you ask me something, a real answer is important, and the truthful answer is important, and that may get people upset and may p— people off. And that’s okay,” he said. “But it took me some time to recognize that.”

Johnson, who identifies as an Independent, made his first endorsement of a political candidate during the 2020 election, backing President Biden.

Cain asked if he was happy with that endorsement four years later, and with the current state of American culture.

“Am I happy with the state of America right now? Well, that answer’s no. Do I believe we’re going to get better? I believe in that. I’m an optimistic guy, and I believe we can get better,” he began.

“The endorsement that I made years ago with Biden was what I thought was the best decision for me at that time,” he said. However, he regretted the division caused by wading into politics and said he would not be publicly endorsing a candidate this time around.

DWAYNE ‘THE ROCK’ JOHNSON TELLS JOE ROGAN HE HAS DEMOCRATIC FRIENDS WHO ARE ‘LOYAL TO THE PARTY,’ NOT BIDEN

“Am I going to do that again this year? That answer’s no. I’m not going to do that,” he told Cain. “Because what I realized that what that caused back then was something that tears me up in my guts back then and now, which is division. And that got me.”

“The takeaway after that months and months and months, I started to realize like, ‘Oh man, that caused an incredible amount of, division in our country.’ So I realize now going into this election, I’m not going to do that. I wouldn’t do that because my goal is to bring our country together. I believe in that, in my DNA. So in the spirit of that, there’s going to be no endorsement,” he said.

“Not that I’m afraid of it at all, but it’s just I realize that this level of influence —I’m gonna keep my politics to myself, and I think it’s between me and the ballot box,” he continued.

The Hollywood star said he would “100%” support whomever the American people chose to be president.

Despite calls for the actor to challenge President Biden in the 2024 race, Johnson said he was not currently contemplating running for higher office.

“As of now. No, that’s not my intention. Will, I’m not a politician. I’m not into politics. I care deeply about our country. I’m a patriot. And I believe you are, too, as well. And right now, my desire and my priorities are my babies and school drop-offs and pickups and things like that. That’s important to me,” he remarked.

“In the spirit of bringing people together and bringing our country together, I don’t know if that’s the right move at this point. Possibly. I don’t know,” he added.

11 ways Biden and his handlers are hell-bent on destroying America

Why are those controlling President Joe Biden using him to advance so much of a destructive agenda that it will likely end America as we know it?

If someone wished to destroy America, could he do anything more catastrophic than what we currently see and hear each day?

What would an existential enemy do that we have not already done to ourselves?

EX-OBAMA STAFFER RIPS BIDEN FOR BEING ‘PRIVATELY’ ANGRY AT ISRAEL, BUT NOT CHANGING POLICY: LOOKS ‘WEAK’

Here are 11 now familiar steps to civilizational destruction:

1. Wipe out a 2,000 mile border.

Allow 10 million foreign nationals to enter unlawfully. Have no audit of any; nullify all federal immigration laws. Let in toxic drugs that kill 100,000 Americans a year. Give free support to those millions who broke the law. Smear any objectors as racists and xenophobes.

2. Run up $35 trillion in national debt.

Keep adding $1 trillion to it each 100 days. Defame anyone wishing to cut wild spending as cruel and inhumane.

3. Appease or subsidize enemies like Iran and China.

Demonize allies like Israel. Allow terrorists to attack Americans without adequate response. See Islam as either similar or superior to Christianity. Make amends to leftist governments for supposedly past toxic American international behavior. Follow the lead of international agencies like the UN, ICC, and WHO to atone for past American neocolonial and imperialist behavior. Recede to second-tier international status, befitting American decline.

4. In a multiracial democracy, redefine identity only as one’s tribal affiliation.

Ensure each identity group rivals the other for victimhood and the state spoils it confers. Reboot all political issues by race and sex oppressors and oppressed. Destroy all meritocratic standards of admission, retention, promotion, and commendation.

5. Recalibrate violent crime as understandable, cry-of-the-heart expressions of social justice.

Ensure no bail and same-day release for arrested, repeat violent felons. Empathize with the violent killer and rapist; ignore their victims, especially if they are slain police officers.

6. Emasculate the military by using non-meritocratic standards of race, gender, and sexual orientation to determine promotion and commendation.

Deliberately impugn as racists and insurrectionists the largest demographic in the military who in recent wars died at twice their numbers in the population—so that they leave or never join the military. Encourage retired high officers to slander their commander-in-chief. Cut the defense budget. Stop producing sufficient weapons, but leave billions of dollars’ worth of arms to terrorists.

7. Reinvent the justice system to indict, bankrupt, convict, jail and eliminate political opponents.

Use ballot removal, impeachment, civil suits, and state and federal indictments rather than elections to defeat an opponent. Mob the homes of non-compliant Supreme Court justices, and attack them personally by name.

8. Encourage the fusion of the bureaucratic state with the electronic media to form a powerful force for political audit, surveillance, censorship, and coercion.

Marry the FBI to Silicon Valley and hire its contractors to warp the news and hound supposed enemies of the people.

9. Make war on affordable gasoline and natural gas.

Substitute inefficient, unreliable, and expensive wind and solar power, even as energy prices nearly bankrupt the middle class.

10. Marry late, but preferably not at all.

Consider males toxic, especially boys. Have no children, or as few as possible. Otherwise, assure children they are entitled, and must be sheltered.  Raise them to have grievances against past generations and current norms.

11. Turn world-class universities into indoctrination centers.

Suspend the Bill of Rights on campuses. Train youth to graduate despising their own culture and civilization. Recruit foreign students from hostile nations to subsidize campus commissar bloat. Replace the curriculum with therapeutic propaganda. Ban the SAT/ACT and do not evaluate comparative high school GPAs. Ensure merit does not select the student body. Charge tuition higher than the rate of inflation. Bill the government when students default on their loans.

Why could those controlling the president be doing all of the above?

1. They are delusional and think their socialist and globalist agendas are working and will save us.

2. They are raging nihilists who do not like the U.S. and deliberately want it destroyed as a service to the world. A ruined U.S. is preferable to a strong America.

3. They are Jacobin revolutionaries who are intentionally erasing the old United States as a prerequisite for creating an entirely new America that will arise from the ashes with no trace or even memory of its past.

4. They have no agenda. They are aimless fools and utter incompetents. These bunglers just wing it day-to-day, in response to what their radical media, academic, and political masters dictate is necessary for them to retain power. They have no idea of the damage they are doing.

5. A bit of 1-3, but probably not 4.

There is cause for hope among this nihilist remaking of America: the people are fed up and will demand an accounting in the fall.

Actress says she was not allowed to lose weight for multi-million dollar paycheck

Rebel Wilson reportedly secured a $10 million paycheck for her role as Fat Amy in “Pitch Perfect 3” as long as she didn’t gain or lose more than 10 pounds.

According to her memoir, “Rebel Rising,” which was obtained by People, the salary was a huge increase from her paycheck for the 2011 film, “Bridesmaids,” which was $3,500.

The small amount of money Wilson earned for “Bridesmaids” didn’t bother her, she wrote, because she was just happy to be in a film, and the small salary was enough for her to pay the fee to get into the SAG-AFTRA union.

But, according to Vanity Fair, Wilson wrote in her memoir that her agency “liked me fat because they got hundreds of thousands of dollars in commission for each film where I played the fat funny girl.”

REBEL WILSON DISCUSSES ‘INTERESTING’ WAYS PEOPLE HAVE TREATED HER AFTER WEIGHT LOSS TRANSFORMATION

In an interview with The New York Times, Wilson revealed that Universal Pictures originally offered her $9 million for her role in “Pitch Perfect,” but she was able to negotiate for eight figures.

“Universal Studios are incredible, but did they make a ton of money from the ‘Pitch Perfect’ movies? Yes,” Wilson said in her interview. “So, despite me absolutely loving all those folks at Universal, did I use that leverage to my advantage? Yes. And in the 11th hour, I go, ‘You know, that’s a lovely offer of $9 million. But I need one more to make it 10.’

“That’s a big milestone when you’re an actor. To receive an eight-figure offer, for a woman, is huge. Sometimes women don’t like to talk about that. Whereas, I don’t think the guys have any issues saying they get $20 million a movie.”

During an interview on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast last year, Wilson went viral after revealing her “Pitch Perfect” contract required her to maintain her current weight.

“You can’t lose — I think it’s not more than 10 pounds or gain more than 10 pounds. You have to kind of stay at the weight. It’s in your contract,” Rebel said at the time.

So, she felt trapped in a “multimillion-dollar pigeonhole” due to her weight.

As Wilson progressed in her career, she made the decision to lose weight. In 2020, the actress detailed her dramatic 77-pound weight loss during her “year of health.”

Rebel’s weight loss prompted some of her fans to turn against her, she told The New York Times.

“Some were like, ‘Oh, we don’t think she’s funny anymore,’ or, ‘Now she’s lost me as a fan because I can’t relate to her anymore,'” she said. “But I think if they read the book, they’ll understand my journey with weight and health. Obviously, I have a sweet tooth. That’s my vice. And in times of stress, I’d been dealing with it by eating. I don’t think that will ever, ever go away.”

Prime watching spots to see the solar eclipse along the ‘path of totality’

There is a solar eclipse happening on Monday, and many people have hopes of witnessing the rare phenomenon for themselves.

The total solar eclipse, when the moon entirely hides the sun, will only be viewable from places that fall within the path of totality, NASA has said, making those prime candidates for eclipse-watching spots. During the brief period of total sun coverage, it will get significantly darker.

“As long as a location is along the path of totality, then it basically all comes down to the weather – it needs to be not cloudy, at least in the patch of sky where the Sun will be when totality hits in the early to mid afternoon, in order to see the eclipse in all of its glory,” University of Richmond Physics Associate Professor Dr. Jack Singal told FOX Business of places best to view the eclipse.

The path of totality for Monday’s eclipse will go through 15 states in total over the course of Monday afternoon, according to NASA. It will be roughly 115 miles wide.

Of those, the total eclipse will hit Texas first and Maine last as it moves on its path across the continent in the northeastern direction, the space agency has said.

ECLIPSE TOURISM EXPECTED TO BRING BIG BUCKS TO AREAS IN PATH OF TOTALITY

“We thought Texas but now New England appears to have the best weather forecast,” Rice University Physics and Astronomy Professor Patricia Reiff told FOX Business late Thursday afternoon. “Clear skies are more important than the time in totality.”

“Generally, there is a greater likelihood of clear skies the farther West and South one goes within the continental U.S.,” Singal said Thursday of early April weather conditions.

He told FOX Business weather forecasts suggested partly cloudy conditions might be in the cards Monday for many major cities in the path of totality.

Singal noted Watertown, New York, as a city “calling for sunny skies” and Del Rio, Texas as “calling for cloudy skies” on the day of the eclipse, as of late Thursday afternoon, citing weather forecasts for Monday. Both are in the total eclipse’s expected path.

In a post on its website, the American Astronomical Society said “anywhere within the path beats everywhere outside it” for viewing the eclipse.

Places like Dallas, Texas; Poplar Bluff, Missouri; Evansville, Indiana; Buffalo, New York; Lancaster, New Hampshire; and Caribou, Maine are in the path of totality, NASA said on its website.
