Entrenched red state incumbent suffers shocking defeat critics say came down to key issue

FIRST ON FOX: A stalwart in the West Virginia Republican Party for decades lost his primary race on Tuesday night due in part to his support of a controversial bill that critics say would provide healthcare for illegal immigrants, according to a group that actively campaigned against him.

West Virginia GOP State Sen. Craig Blair, the president of the state senate who has served as a state senator since 2013 and in the legislature for years before that, lost to his primary challenger Tom Willis on Tuesday night, WV Metro News reported.

Stand For Us PAC, a group that has pledged to put at least $1 million into defeating incumbents who they deemed weak on illegal immigration, says Blair lost because of his support of subsidizing healthcare for illegal immigrants.

“It’s simple: Craig Blair caved to the far-left on illegal immigration and turned his back on the people of West Virginia…and Stand for Us PAC held him accountable,” Katie Miller, Chair of Stand for Us PAC, said in a statement to Fox News Digital on Wednesday.

‘CHILD PREDATOR’: ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT WITH PAST SEX CONVICTION CAPTURED IN BORDER STATE

“Over the last month, Stand for Us spent over $400,000 to defeat Blair, with the majority of our resources going to informing the Senate President’s constituents about how he led the charge to strengthen a federal program that uses taxpayer dollars to subsidize health care for illegal immigrants.”

At the heart of the issue was Blair’s support for West Virginia Senate Bill 325 which critics say strengthens the federal 340B federal program which would ultimately mean subsidized healthcare for illegal immigrants.

Similar legislation across the country has drawn ire from Republicans including in Virginia where Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin vetoed the bill.

Stand for Us PAC ran multiple ads hammering Blair on the issue arguing that Blair was “working against Trump’s America First agenda.”

‘ENOUGH’: CONTROVERSIAL ID PROGRAM FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS TARGETED BY GOP SENATOR

“It’s disappointing to me that a bill that passed the Senate with a unanimous, bipartisan vote would be so blatantly misconstrued and weaponized as it was,” Blair, who is the Lt. Governor of West Virginia, told Fox News Digital in a statement on Wednesday.

“This bill has nothing, whatsoever, to do with subsidizing health care for illegal immigrants. If providing more affordable prescription drugs to West Virginians — especially our vulnerable senior citizens on a fixed income — is a ‘fireable offense,’ then I’ll proudly take that pink slip.”

Miller explained in her press release the strategy that Stand For Us used to unseat Blair who held a plus 12 favorability rating and an 11 point lead over Willis in April.

Miller also warned in a statement that Republican incumbents should be wary of their stance on illegal immigration in light of Blair’s surprise defeat.

“Other Republicans should take notice, Miller said. “We only had a month from our first expenditure to Election Day and we were still able to oust a well-established Senate President by double-digits. That should make clear to Republicans across the country considering voting for legislation to strengthen the 340b program or allow non-citizen voting that they will not be safe no matter how powerful they are.”

Miller continued, “Stand for Us isn’t going anywhere and the results of our efforts have only emboldened us to increase our initial investment so we can hold more so-called conservatives accountable for refusing to crack down on illegal immigration. Republicans are now on notice that they support 340b or non-citizen voting at their own political peril.”

Horrifying video shows animal attacking female tourist on popular beach

A wild and violent bull that was loose on a popular Mexican beach attacked a woman several times as panicked onlookers screamed in horror, a terrifying new video shows.

The heart-stopping video, which was shot Saturday at Cabo San Lucas, shows the black beast charging and ramming the woman more than six times after she tries to snatch her bags away from the animal. Cabo San Lucas is a resort city on the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula and is popular among tourists.

The video first shows the black beast under a canopy with the woman who appears to be feeding the horned animal food from a bag and then from a silver bowl.

BRITISH TOURIST HAS HAND, THIGH SEVERED AFTER BEING MAULED BY BULL SHARK IN CARIBBEAN: ‘LUCKY TO BE ALIVE’

Dressed in a loose dress and beach hat, the woman appears unperturbed by the dangers the incredibly strong bovine possesses. Bulls can weigh well over 2,000 pounds depending on the breed and are well known to be aggressive.

In the next clip, the bull can be seen trotting away from the canopy after spotting several bags belonging to the woman.

She then goes face to face with the beast in an attempt to retrieve the bags as one man shouts, “You are really playing with it right now.”

“Please don’t do that, please,” the onlooker screams.

“Please get away,” he yells as the bull devours the contents of the bags. Another beachgoer can be heard calling the woman a “moron” as she refuses to get to safety.

As the crowd continues to warn the woman away from the bull, the unidentified woman drops her hands and turns her back on the predator as if she was giving up on her mission to recover the bags.

That’s when the bull sees red, lowering its head and charging at the woman, ramming its head into the side of her and causing her to fall onto the sand, the video shows

FLORIDA MAN SURVIVES SHARK ATTACK AFTER ‘APEX PREDATOR’ PULLS HIM UNDERWATER, NARROWLY MISSES FEMORAL ARTERY

She gets up, but the bull charges again and seemingly strikes her in the face with one of its horns, causing her to crumble to the sand again.

The woman then finds herself on her knees with her back to the bull, which plows into her again, pushing her forward as others on the beach look on with terror.

“We tried to f—ing tell you,” the man shouts as the bull continues its onslaught, ramming the woman several more times across the sand.

Another woman, who appears to be in the same party, then comes to her aid and tries to throw a bucket of water at the bull, who eventually moves away.

Despite the shocking attack, the woman quickly gets to her feet and walks away. It is unclear what injuries she suffered.

The beach is close to several ranches which makes close encounters with livestock a common occurrence in the area, Torres García, an official with the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone, told local outlet El Sudcaliforniano.

He said that it is also common to see donkeys wandering around the area and tourists are known to try and feed them.

“However, we make the recommendation that they do not do so in order to prevent a situation similar to that of the bull attack from happening because a donkey can bite a person,” García said.

Meryl Streep reveals co-star she was ‘so in love’ with after filming famous scene

Meryl Streep reflected on her famous shampoo scene with Robert Redford in the 1985 movie “Out of Africa.”

In the epic romantic drama, Streep starred as a Danish baroness who falls in love with a big game hunter, played by Redford, while running a coffee plantation in colonial South Africa.

During a memorable scene from the film, Redford tenderly washes Streep’s hair by a river while reciting lines from Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s poem “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.”

MERYL STREEP SAYS SHE WAS ‘DEPRESSED’ WHILE FILMING ‘THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA’: ‘IT WAS HORRIBLE’

“It’s a sex scene in a way, because it’s so intimate,” the 74-year-old actress said during a Wednesday conversation at Cannes’ Théâtre Debussy, per Variety. “We’ve seen so many scenes of people f——, but we don’t see that loving touch, that care.”

While speaking at Cannes, Streep recalled that filming the scene initially wasn’t very pleasant. According to the UK Metro, she told the crowd that she and Redford, now 87, were warned by the production to be wary of potentially dangerous wild animals nearby.

“We had lions, but they were imported from California and they were supposedly fine — tame. They were not,” the actress said, per the outlet.

“And the second thing we were told is the animal that kills the most people in Africa is the hippopotamus, if you get between the hippopotamus and the water,” she added.

“So we were shooting in the river and the hippopotamus were right above it. I don’t know if they show that in the movie, I can’t remember, but I was aware of it!”

Streep recalled that Redford was worried about their safety and wasn’t washing her hair well at first.

“It wasn’t good,” she admitted.

However, Streep’s longtime hair stylist and makeup artist Roy Hellund jumped in and demonstrated how he typically washed the actress’s hair, which Streep described as “the best part of my day.”

“Redford took the lesson, and he just really got into it, and he was great,” Streep recalled. “By take five I was so in love!’

“I didn’t want it to end that day, even in spite of the hippos,” she added.

Directed by Sydney Pollack, “Out of Africa” was based on Karen Blixen’s 1937 autographical book of the same name. The film was a box office hit and received 11 Academy Award nominations, including a best actress nod for Streep.

“Out of Africa” went on to take home seven Oscars, including best picture and best director for Pollack.

During a 1985 interview with the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Streep praised Redford, telling the outlet that she found him “very charming.”

“We really got to know each other after he arrived in Africa,” she said. “I developed this huge crush on him, which made it easier to do the love story. He’s really wonderful to work with.”

She continued, “He has an unusual quality for a man — he has a very receptive way about him and is an incredibly good listener. That’s an attribute people usually associate with women. So for women, he’s very easy to talk to.”

The two later teamed up again in the 2007 war thriller “Lions for Lambs,” which also starred Tom Cruise.

On Tuesday, Streep received a two-minute standing ovation when she was presented with an honorary Palme d’Or during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

During her conversation at the Théâtre Debussy, the three-time Academy Award winner shared how she had been touched by the warm reception at the Palme d’Or presentation.

“I felt just a wave of feeling coming from the audience, and it’s so much bigger than I thought — so many tiers of people, all the way up to the top,” she said. “Yeah, it was a lot. I live a very quiet life, and really I don’t get any respect at home, so it’s sort of amazing to come into this arena and have that big tidal wave.”

Streep later said that she never set out to make movies that she thought would become box office hits.

“The ones that ended up being blockbusters — ‘Mamma Mia!’ and ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ — happened when I was 58 and 60, and I never thought they were going to be anything but fun,” she said, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

“I didn’t know they were going to be big, but I knew that I could get them made.”

Michael Cohen’s former lawyer drops Trump trial bombshell during House hearing

A lawyer who formerly advised Michael Cohen claims the ex-Trump attorney said the former president had nothing to do with a hush money payment made to pornographic performer Stormy Daniels and that Cohen took care of the arrangement himself.

Robert Costello, an attorney who advised Cohen after Cohen was hit with federal charges in 2018, testified before the House Weaponization Committee on Capitol Hill Wednesday during the same week Cohen has been testifying against his former boss in a Manhattan courtroom.

Costello, a former federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, explained he is able to discuss his interactions with Cohen because he “waived the attorney-client privilege and the duty of loyalty of a lawyer to a client.”

FLASHBACK: TRUMP-MANHATTAN DA CASE: BOB COSTELLO TESTIFIES TO GRAND JURY, SAYS MICHAEL COHEN IS A ‘SERIAL LIAR’

Costello testified before the grand jury for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case against former President Trump. Costello testified in March 2023, just weeks before Bragg’s grand jury indicted Trump on 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree.

Trump pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Costello recalled an interaction with Cohen in 2018, during which he said the ex-Trump attorney was “suicidal and desperately looking for an escape route” after being indicted.

“I advised him that the SDNY thought he had committed crimes and that he might have evidence they could use for a prosecution of President Trump,” Costello testified Wednesday. “I explained to Cohen how he was not the target of the investigation but was a bump in the road and that the U.S. Attorney’s Office would run over him if it led them to Donald Trump.”

Costello testified that he explained to Cohen that if he had “truthful information that would implicate Donald Trump, I could get him out his legal trouble by the end of the week — if he cooperated against Donald Trump.”

“I emphasized that any information Cohen could give would have to be truthful, otherwise it was useless,” Costello testified, saying he did this “numerous times” during their first meeting.

NY V. TRUMP: AS ‘STAR WITNESS’ MICHAEL COHEN TESTIFIES, TRUMP ALLIES FLOCK TO COURT TO ‘SUPPORT THEIR FRIEND’

“Each time, Cohen said to me, ‘I swear to God, Bob, I don’t have anything on Donald Trump,’” Costello recalled Cohen saying. “Cohen must have said this at least ten times because I kept coming back to it from different approaches.”

During the conversation, Costello said, Cohen told him he would do “whatever” he had to do to not spend even one day in prison.

Costello then referred back to a conversation he had on the phone with Cohen days earlier, saying Cohen indicated he was “seriously contemplating jumping off” the roof of the New York City Regency Hotel because he “couldn’t handle the pressure of the upcoming criminal case.”

Costello said he pressed Cohen to reconsider.

“Isn’t it easier to cooperate against Donald Trump if you have truthful information, than it is to kill yourself?” he asked.

Costello also testified that he was involved in a non-disclosure agreement with adult film actress Stormy Daniels. Costello said Cohen told him he was approached by her attorney, who said she would allege she had a sexual encounter with Trump unless Trump was willing to “buy her silence.”

Costello on Wednesday said Cohen “decided that while he didn’t believe the allegation, he thought the story would be embarrassing for Trump, and especially for Melania, so he decided to take care of it himself.”

Costello testified that Cohen’s “motivation for this became obvious” amid Cohen’s alleged desire to work in the Trump administration after the 2016 election.

Costello testified Cohen thought Trump would make him attorney general “or at least chief of staff to the president.”

“Cohen then explained that, for that reason, he negotiated the sum of $130,000 in exchange for the NDA. When asked if Trump had any knowledge of this, Cohen told me no. When asked whether Cohen got the $130,000 from Trump or any Trump entity or friend, Cohen again said no,” Costello testified.

“When asked if this was from Cohen’s own money, Cohen said no. He was asked where, then, did he get the money, and Cohen explained he took out a HELOC Loan because he didn’t want anybody to know where the money came from.”

MICHAEL COHEN TESTIFIES HE SECRETLY RECORDED TRUMP IN LEAD-UP TO 2016 ELECTION

Costello, echoing what Cohen testified to during Trump’s trial this week, said Cohen told him he didn’t want his wife to know, since she handled the family’s finances.

So far, Cohen has testified in Trump’s criminal trial that he personally paid the $130,000 payment to Daniels using a home equity line of credit in an effort to conceal the payment from his wife. Cohen said he did this because Trump told him to “handle it” and prevent a negative story from coming out ahead of the election.

Cohen testified that he was “reimbursed $420,000” for the $130,000 he paid to Daniels. Cohen said former Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg suggested he “gross up” the payments, and that Trump himself was aware of the reimbursments.

But Cohen also testified at trial he didn’t tell Costello that Trump knew of the reimbursements because he was still loyal to Trump. He also said he “believed, based upon all of our conversations, that [Costello] would immediately run back to Mr. [Rudy] Giuliani and that communication would be divulged to President Trump.”

Costello stressed Wednesday that “the point” of his testimony is that “when Michael Cohen was presented with the opportunity to implicate Donald Trump in exchange for eliminating his own enormous legal problems, he repeatedly said he had nothing truthful on Donald Trump.

NY V. TRUMP: COHEN TESTIFIES TO PAYING STORMY DANIELS FROM HIS OWN POCKET

“Now, after going to jail, Michael Cohen is on a revenge tour because he blames Donald Trump for the loss of his law license and the fact that he did go to jail,” Costello said. “The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York saw this and acted properly. The Manhattan District Attorney took a different route to become famous and to ‘get’ Trump.”

Costello said Cohen is “simply not a credible man,” and claimed Cohen “lies when he thinks it is to his own advantage but tells the truth when it is to Michael Cohen’s own advantage.”

Last year, after testifying before the grand jury, Costello told reporters Cohen was a “serial liar.”

At the time, March 2023, Fox News Digital reached Cohen for comment on Costello’s claims.

“If Bob Costello’s comments were any more fantastical, he would be a bestselling fiction author,” Cohen told Fox News Digital last year. “It is important to note, I never slept with Stormy. I stated years ago that the payment was done at the direction of, in coordination with and for the benefit of Donald.

“Truth is truth, and the documents in the possession of the DANY demonstrate this.”

Cohen is expected to continue testimony Thursday as the prosecution wraps up its case. Judge Juan Merchan is presiding at the Trump trial.

Biden’s team lays out list of major restrictions, conditions in offer to debate Trump

President Biden and former President Donald Trump on Wednesday made their plans to officially debate, but the offer from the Biden team came with several strings attached.

Trump gave Biden an open invitation to debate anytime, anywhere, and Biden rose to the challenge, telling Trump to “make my day” in a heavily edited video on social media. Alongside Biden’s announcement came a letter from his campaign to the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD), and that letter revealed a few critical limits that Biden’s team was placing on any debate between him and Trump.

Here are each of the restrictions the Biden campaign is demanding.

No Audience

Biden’s campaign heavily criticized the CPD for making debates “huge spectacles with large audiences” in its letter to the organization.

The new debates between Trump and Biden must take place in a television studio with just the candidates and the moderator present.

“The debates should be conducted for the benefit of the American voters, watching on television and at home — not as entertainment for an in-person audience with raucous or disruptive partisans and donors, who consume valuable debate time with noisy spectacles of approval or jeering. As was the case with the original televised debates in 1960, a television studio with just the candidates and moderators is a better, more cost-efficient way to proceed: focused solely on the interests of voters,” Biden’s campaign wrote.

TRUMP URGES BIDEN TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH DEBATE PROMISE: ‘I’M READY TO GO ANYWHERE’

No RFK Jr. or any other 3rd-party candidate

Biden’s campaign says the debate must be one versus one, with no third-party candidates allowed.

This is a critical demand because it excludes Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., a long-shot independent candidate who has nevertheless made his presence known in polls. Not only that, but Kennedy has been shown to be more effective at leaching Democratic voters than Republican ones, making him an outsized threat to Biden.

BIDEN GIVES 3-WORD RESPONSE WHEN ASKED WHEN HE’LL DEBATE TRUMP

“The debates should be one-on-one, allowing voters to compare the only two candidates with any statistical chance of prevailing in the Electoral College — and not squandering debate time on candidates with no prospect of becoming President,” Biden’s team wrote.

Kennedy condemned the requirement in a post on X, accusing both Trump and Biden of colluding to block him from the debate stage.

Limited news outlets

Biden’s demands limit the number of major news outlets that can host a 2024 presidential debate.

“It should be hosted by any broadcast organization that hosted a Republican Primary debate in 2016 in which Donald Trump participated, and a Democratic primary debate in 2020 in which President Biden participated — so neither campaign can assert that the sponsoring organization is obviously unacceptable: if both candidates have previously debated on their airwaves, then neither could object to such venue,” the campaign wrote.

TRUMP SUPPORTERS FLOCK TO MASSIVE NEW JERSEY CAMPAIGN RALLY TO HEAR FORMER PRESIDENT SPEAK AMID ONGOING TRIALS

This rule set limits the networks that can host a debate to CNN, ABC, CBS or Telemundo.

Candidate mics must mute after time expires

Biden’s campaign blasted the CPD for allowing extensive crosstalk and interruptions during the 2020 debates between Trump and Biden.

They now demand that both candidates’ microphones be muted once their allotted speaking time expires.

“There should be firm time limits for answers, and alternate turns to speak — so that the time is evenly divided and we have an exchange of views, not a spectacle of mutual interruption. A candidate’s microphone should only be active when it is his turn to speak, to promote adherence to the rules and orderly proceedings,” the campaign wrote.

The letter to the CPD criticized the organization for being “unable or unwilling to enforce the rules in the 2020 debates.”

“The result was far from — indeed entirely inconsistent with — the orderly and informative process the voters deserved in 2020 and should be able to expect in 2024,” the letter continued.

Trump has accepted Biden’s debate offer despite the restrictions, however, with the first encounter scheduled for June 27 to be hosted by CNN.

“I am Ready and Willing to Debate Crooked Joe at the two proposed times in June and September,” Trump posted. “I would strongly recommend more than two debates and, for excitement purposes, a very large venue, although Biden is supposedly afraid of crowds – That’s only because he doesn’t get them. Just tell me when, I’ll be there. ‘Let’s get ready to Rumble!!!’”

Stormy Daniels’ husband shares what they will do if Trump gets acquitted

Stormy Daniels’ husband, fellow adult film star Barrett Blade, said the couple will likely move out of the U.S. if former President Donald Trump is found not guilty in the landmark NY v. Trump case.

“If Trump is found not guilty… I don’t think it gets better for her, you know? I think if it’s not guilty, we got to decide what to do. Good chance we’ll probably vacate this country,” Blade said Tuesday on CNN.

Prosecutors say Daniels was paid $130,000 to keep quiet about her claims of an alleged extramarital sexual encounter with Trump, which he has long denied. Trump has pleaded not guilty in the case that revolves around the alleged falsification of business records related to the payment.

TOP 5 MOMENTS OF TRUMP TRIAL AFTER ‘SALACIOUS’ STORMY DANIELS TESTIMONY

“If he is found guilty, then she’s still going to have to deal with all the hate,” Blade said during an interview with Erin Burnett, noting Trump supporters would insist “she’s the reason” why he was convicted.

“I don’t see it as a win situation either way,” Blade said. “We would like to get on with our lives… she wants to move past this.”

LEGAL EXPERTS HAMMER STORMY DANIELS’ TESTIMONY AT TRUMP TRIAL: ‘DISASTROUS’ RESPONSES WILL ‘BACKFIRE’

STORMY ALLEGES ONE-NIGHT STAND WITH TRUMP, AGREED TO LIE FOR HER $130,000 PAYOFF

Daniels took the stand last week and gave a highly detailed account of allegedly having sex with Trump at a Lake Tahoe hotel room in 2006. Daniels was described in trial media reports as talking fast, making jokes and often going beyond directly answering questions she was asked. Judge Juan Merchan at one point told prosecutors their witness was going into “unnecessary” detail.

Many celebrities have threatened to leave the country over Trump, although A-listers such as Chelsea Handler, Snoop Dogg, Miley Cyrus, Samuel L. Jackson, Barbra Streisand and Bryan Cranston never followed through.

“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg recently said she was “not going anywhere” after Trump shared a social media post mocking her past remarks about fleeing the country if he won the 2016 election.

Capitol Police find bag of cocaine on floor at Washington, DC headquarters

The U.S. Capitol Police announced that a small bag of cocaine had been found in a “heavily trafficked” hallway of its headquarters.

In a press release Wednesday, the agency announced that around 1 p.m., a roughly one-inch-by-one-inch bag filled with a “white powdery substance” was found in the middle of the floor at the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) headquarters in Washington, D.C.

The USCP said that the substance field tested positive for cocaine.

TEEN DRUG OVERDOSES HIT RECORD HIGH, DRIVEN PRIMARILY BY FENTANYL POISONING, SAYS NEW REPORT

The cocaine was found on the second floor of the USCP headquarters in an area that was used for storing furniture and other supplies.

USCP said that the hallway area was frequented by various contractors and employees and is also near the Prisoner Processing, Crime Scene, Intel and Reports Processing offices.

KARINE JEAN-PIERRE LINED WITH QUESTIONS ABOUT COCAINE FOUND IN WHITE HOUSE

An officer found the bag “in the middle of the floor” and immediately reported it to a supervisor, USCP said.

USCP announced that it had opened an investigation and will test the residue further and conduct DNA testing of the bag.

USCP did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

The finding of the “powdery white substance” came just 10 months after cocaine was also found in the White House.

On July 2, 2023, the cocaine, which was found in the West Wing, sparked an evacuation and emergency response.

“The White House complex went into a precautionary closure as officers from the Secret Service Uniformed Division investigated an unknown item found inside a work area,” the U.S. Secret Service said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“The DC Fire Department was called to evaluate and quickly determined the item to be non-hazardous. The item was sent for further evaluation and an investigation into the cause and manner of how it entered the White House is pending,” the statement added.

Two anglers reel in massive fish to set new state saltwater records

Two new saltwater fishing records were recently recognized in the state of Georgia, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced on Facebook this week.

The record for the largest almaco Jack fish was set, while the largest blackfin tuna caught by a woman was tied, said the department’s post.

Both fish were caught earlier this month.

MISSOURI ANGLER BREAKS WORLD RECORD AFTER CATCHING 97-POUND BIGHEAD CARP

“Jason H. Rich, of McRae-Helena, reeled in a massive 23-pound, 15.04-ounce Almaco Jack (Seriola rivoliana) on May 2 while fishing offshore between the South Ledge and Navy Tower R3,” DNR officials wrote.

Rich’s 23-pound fish shattered the previous record of 19 pounds, 10.53 ounces, which was set in March 2024, the DNR noted.

“Rich, a licensed saltwater guide, was fishing aboard his boat ‘Slay Ride’ and used a spinning rod with a vertical jig to entice the record-breaking Almaco Jack,” the Facebook post said.

Almaco jack fish typically weigh about 10 pounds, said the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s web page on the species.

WOMAN IN OREGON REELS IN RECORD-BREAKING FISH: ‘VERY STRONG’

Just two days after Rich shattered the almaco jack fish record, another monster was caught.

Molly Strickland, of Lumber City, Georgia, reeled in a “hefty 30 pound, 14.24 ounce Blackfin Tuna (Thunnus atlanticus),” said the DNR’s Facebook post.

Strickland caught the fish while fishing near South Ledge, said department officials.

“Strickland was fishing with a daisy-chain rigged with ballyhoo aboard the vessel ‘Bare Down,’ captained by Blake Barry,” the post continued.

FISHING AND ITS HEALTH BENEFITS: THE MORE MEN GO FISHING, THE BETTER THEIR MENTAL HEALTH, STUDY FINDS

Strickland was recognized for the largest blackfin tuna caught by a woman, which was a 30-pound, 8-ounce blackfin tuna set in 1999. Strickland’s catch is considered a tie in this category, according to the DNR.

“To replace a record for a fish weighing 20 pounds (9.07 kg) up to 100 pounds (45.35 kg), the replacement must weigh at least 8 ounces (226.7 gm) more than the existing record,” said the DNR’s rules and regulations page regarding Georgia saltwater fishing.

Blackfin tuna are considerably smaller than other tuna species.

They reach a maximum size of 39 inches and 46 pounds, said the Florida Museum of Natural History’s website.

“They are most frequently taken at an average size of approximately 19.75 inches (50 cm), corresponding to a weight of about 7 pounds (3.2 kg),” the site reads.

Conversely, the Atlantic bluefin tuna, the largest tuna species, can weigh nearly 1,500 pounds.

Bar ignites outrage on social media with new restriction on patrons

An Ohio bar’s new policy banning customers under 30 years old on weekends has sparked a heated debate on the business’s social media account.

“Starting this weekend! 30 & up on Friday and Saturday nights. Cover charge starts at 10PM, and the doors close at 1:15 A.M. No exceptions!” Donerick’s Pub in Groveport announced May 1 on its Facebook page.

The business owner did not explain what the reason for the change was. However, in replies under the post, the bar said the new policy was to enforce safety after experiencing a surge in customers on weekends.

“Keeping our customers safe is our top priority!” it added.

PENNSYLVANIA CHICK-FIL-A CREATES NEW RULE AFTER ROWDY TEENS CAUSE CHAOS: ‘WE’RE A FAMILY-FRIENDLY RESTAURANT’

The policy announcement came three days after an apparent naked brawl happened outside the bar, according to The New York Post.

A video posted to social media and tagged with the bar’s location shows a naked woman tussling with another fully dressed woman as they pull each other’s hair in the parking lot.

However, the new policy was met with mixed reaction from customers. Since announcing the change, the bar’s social media page has been inundated with hundreds of comments.

Several customers hailed the decision and even suggested weekend services should be restricted to 35 or 40 years old and up. Other customers said they would be ditching the business because of the decision, while others expressed skepticism that this move would actually deter rowdy customers.

APRIL INFLATION BREAKDOWN: WHERE ARE PRICES STILL RISING THE FASTEST?

“The best decision, 35 would be even better. This generation is just lost in the sauce. It’s sad, I hope this makes the difference,” one woman commented.

“In this type of business it’s inevitable that incidents will happen. Need better plans for when things get out of control. Bc this place will end up closing real soon, watch,” another woman commented. “I’m 25, & all my friends are under 30. We come here for good vibes. It’s sad 1 incident impacted the entire business and couldn’t find a way to keep good business flowing.”

Donerick’s Pub defended its decision to upset customers.

“We just want to provide our customers with a fun environment to have some fun in. We will try different methods and see what works best to make everyone safe!” it said.

The bar could not be reached for comment.
