News anchor stunned by results of poll on deporting all illegal immigrants

CBS News host Margaret Brennan on Sunday appeared perplexed by the results of a recent poll that showed majority support for deporting all illegal immigrants.

“Homeland Security says that President Biden has already deported or repatriated more people in the past year than any year since 2010. And then, depending on the details of what’s talked about on the campaign trail, some of what Mr. Trump talks about could be illegal,” Brennan said.

She  continued, “It doesn’t seem practical, in some sense, to round up children. And then we know that the courts have questioned whether local authorities would have the ability to do it, and federal authorities don’t have the resources. So what exactly do people think they’re supporting?”

A CBS News/YouGov poll found that 62% of registered voters said they would support a government program that would deport all migrants living in the U.S. illegally. The poll, conducted between June 5-7, also found that a majority of registered voters supported Biden’s latest executive action at the southern border.

TRUMP SAYS HE WILL CARRY OUT THE ‘LARGEST DOMESTIC DEPORTATION OPERATION IN AMERICAN HISTORY’ IF ELECTED

Anthony Salvanto, CBS’ director of elections and surveys, said that while the support for a deportation effort was mostly among supporters of former President Trump, some Democrats supported it as well.

“When you measure public sentiment on this or really just about any policy, you’re getting a sense of direction. You’re getting broad brushstrokes,” Salvanto said.

Salvanto also said the poll asked if respondents felt local authorities should be involved in deporting the migrants.

“A lot of folks do say yes. Again, the details of that, the specifics, you’re not going to pick that up in an aggregate public opinion,” he said.

“We are in a different era in which a lot of folks say the system as a whole is not working. And all of these, if you connect the dots through them, are part of that reaction against it, which explains some of that general sentiment for some of these policies,” Salvanto continued.

Brennan said Americans generally just want the government to “do something.”

Trump has said he plans to use the National Guard to deport migrants who are in the U.S. illegally. He has also said he would carry out “the largest domestic deportation operation in American history.”

Biden recently issued executive actions at the southern border, which temporarily stops migrants who cross the border illegally from claiming asylum.

Biden issued a presidential proclamation that will temporarily suspend the entry of non-citizens across the southern border once the number of average border encounters exceeds 2,500 a day over seven days, officials said. That will stay in effect until 14 days after there has been a seven-day average of less than 1,500 encounters along the border. Officials said it would make it easier for immigration officers to quickly remove individuals who do not have a legal basis to remain in the U.S.

Actor runs full-page ad in NYT asking Emmy voters to choose non-White candidates

Actor John Leguizamo ran a full-page ad in Sunday’s edition of The New York Times asking Emmy voters to choose non-White nominees.

“I know everyone is exhausted about inclusion but not us who are not included. So that’s why I took this ad out in the NYTimes,” Leguizamo wrote on X, alongside two pictures of his advertisement.

The liberal actor said White people are overrepresented in top positions across tech, banking, medicine, streaming and Hollywood.

“America is better when it is inclusive. It is more profitable. It is more creative! Let’s not give up. I’m still woke! Are you?” he wrote.

2024 EMMYS: COMPLETE WINNERS LIST

Leguizamo’s advertisement came in the form of a giant “Open Letter to The Television Academy.” He urged voters to see artists of color represented across all categories.

“I know you’re tired of hearing words like ‘inclusivity’ and ‘diversity’ – treading water while you try to understand how to put actions behind these sentiments,” he wrote.

Leguizamo’s letter noted that hundreds of prolific non-White artists deserve to be considered for awards, not because of their ethnicity but because they have “achieved greatness with a foot on their neck for too long.”

“Let this be the start of a new era,” he wrote. “Let us not continue to whitewash our award shows. Instead, let this year be the catalyst that inspires the next generation of minority and underrepresented artists… a generation who might finally see a reflection of themselves on that stage and think… ‘If they can, maybe I can too.'”

Concerns about award show diversity have been a significant topic in Hollywood for years.

The Los Angeles Times reported that from 2015 to 2019, 82% of the nominees across 19 Emmy categories were White.

JOHN LEGUIZAMO CRITICIZES SUPER MARIO BROS. REMAKE CASTING, APPLAUDS ‘COLOUR-BLIND’ CASTING OF ORIGINAL MOVIE

Leguizamo has been an most outspoken liberal voice on social and political issues in Hollywood over the last several years.

In a May interview with Salon, the “Ice Age” and “Super Mario Bros.” actor said Latino Americans do not understand that former President Trump was really the person who damaged the economy, not President Biden.

“Because Latinos, they’re blaming him [Biden] for the economy, which they shouldn’t be because COVID was the culprit and Trump not handling COVID was the culprit in damaging our economy.”

Leguizamo, who has been a Trump critic for years, expressed frustration over the former president building support among Latinos earlier this year. While guest hosting Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” in April, the actor punched a piñata on air in response to the recent polls.

During another stint as guest host in November, Leguizamo raged against Univision for hosting an interview with Trump that month.

CNN guest ‘disappointed’ in network for mistake on Israeli hostage rescue

CNN guest Ian Bremmer said that he was disappointed by the network’s misleading news chyron calling an Israeli operation to rescue hostages a “release” during his interview with the network on Saturday.

The Israeli operation took home four hostages who were kidnapped and then held in Gaza by Hamas on Oct. 7.

However, CNN’s chyron called the hostage rescue operation a “hostage release,” implying that Hamas chose to willingly free them.

KAMALA HARRIS MOURNS DEATH OF PALESTINIANS IN RAID THAT RESCUED 4 ISRAELI HOSTAGES

“Gantz postpones news conference after hostage release,” the news chyron underneath Bremmer read during his live appearance on Saturday.

“[D]isappointed to see [CNN’s] chyron of hostage ‘release’ during my interview today when [H]amas did no such thing,” Bremmer wrote on X Saturday.

Bremmer, the president of the consulting firm Eurasia Group, noted the chyron was “quickly corrected on air” by CNN anchor Victor Blackwell “but this sort of mistake (repeated by [UN] officials and others today) is maddening.”

Noa Argamani, 26, Almog Meir Jan, 22, Shlomi Ziv, 41, and Andrey Kozlov, 27, were rescued in two separate locations in a complex special daytime operation in the heart of Nuseirat in central Gaza. They had been held in captivity by the terrorist group for 246 days.

In a separate exchange with lawyer Francesca Albanese on X, Bremmer pushed back on claims that the hostages were “released.”

Hamas “did not release these hostages (though the consistent [UN] position remains that they must),” he wrote.

He also argued that the death of Palestinians during the operation was a “terrible tragedy” but that can’t be acknowledged while ignoring why the terrorist organization is “holding hostages among a civilian population.”

“[I]t’s become next to impossible to cover israel/hamas war honestly. huge amounts of disinformation and political/ideological bias everywhere you look,” Bremmer wrote in another post. “[B]ut we have to try.”

HOW ISRAEL’S DARING HOSTAGE RESCUE MISSION UNFOLDED: ‘A SURGICAL OPERATION’

Hamas-run authorities in Gaza claim over 270 Palestinians were killed in the Israeli operation, while Israeli forces claim the number was fewer than 100.

White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan also confirmed reports on Sunday that some civilians may have been killed in the operation.

Raging apartment inferno ignites after police uncover disturbing clue inside

Firefighters in Miami were battling a blaze that broke out in an apartment building where a gunshot victim was found Monday morning, according to fire officials.

The 3-alarm fire started at the Temple Court Apartments in downtown Miami, the Miami Fire Department said. The fire spread quickly through the common area of the roof and multiple crews were on scene working to extinguish the flames.

The fire broke out on the third floor of the building, where fire officials said one person was found shot. The victim was taken to a hospital.

No further details about the gunshot victim’s condition were immediately available.

Firefighters rescued several people who were trapped inside the burning building, including some from their balconies, officials said. About 50 people were evacuated from the scene.

Mayor Francis Suarez said the blaze was the first 3-alarm fire in Miami in 25 years.

“A fire of this magnitude is extremely dangerous,” Suarez said, adding that over 40 units of the Miami Fire Department were deployed to fight the flames.

Firefighters were continuing to battle the fire from the outside of the building because it remains too dangerous for them to enter inside, fire officials said.

Two firefighters were taken to a hospital in stable condition. No information about injuries to any residents was immediately available as the situation remained ongoing.

Fed-up sheriff, frustrated with illegal immigration, proposes deadly solution

An Ohio sheriff said he supported the renewal of the death penalty for certain crimes as the state is ravaged by nefarious activity stemming from the porous southern border in an interview with Fox News Digital.

Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones, drew a connection between President Biden’s border policies and an uptick in mayhem from illegal immigrants, which he said cost his taxpayers $4 million to incarcerate them.

“I am angry,” Jones said, adding he could go “on and on” about the destruction caused by illegal immigrants. “People are fed up, and we want something done. And I don’t know that we can stand President Biden being here. And this is just a sample of what he’s done. Lord, help us all.”

Over the last three years, Jones said 1,000 illegal immigrants were thrown in his jail for committing 2,000 crimes, many violent in nature.

NEWSOM PROPOSES DEFUNDING LAW ENFORCEMENT, PRISONS, PUBLIC SAFETY AS CALIFORNIA FACES MASSIVE DEFICIT

“We had one guy that was deported eight times. He was in my jail under eight different names, and that’s what we know of,” Jones told Fox News Digital. “He’s here. He’s committed murder while he’s here. And we believe that this isn’t the first time he’s committed murder. And we’ve had people that have been hit with vehicles killed. We’ve had people that have been stabbed. So the crime is increasing.”

The sheriff recounted a few incidents that haunted him. One incident was when an illegal immigrant took a 9-year-old off her bicycle and molested her. Another is about a paraplegic who was hit by an illegal immigrant, who fled the scene.

As for those who say that homegrown citizens also commit crimes, Jones responded, “I don’t need any extra crime coming from other countries where they empty their prisons out.”

The sheriff said he is currently teaching his county how to use guns to protect themselves from crime.

BOSTON DEMOCRATIC MAYOR SAYS CRIMINALS SHOULD NOT BE PROSECUTED FOR THEFT, GANG REGISTRY SHOULD BE ABOLISHED

“What would happen if Biden was reelected? I believe our country is in danger. But I’m not the only one. The government believes that if we continue with this trajectory, that we’re all in danger. We are training our civilians here how to protect themselves” he said.

The Butler sheriff added that he believed President Biden was actively blocking Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement from doing their jobs.

“They block the federal government,” he said. “I am the government, and I’m embarrassed and ashamed of the people that we have in leadership positions. These other countries laugh at us. They look at our president, he can hardly talk.”

“I guess when you’re president, or you’re these people in power, you don’t go to the grocery store… I keep my ear to the ground and I talk to people. They’re fed up, they’re disgusted, and they’re scared,” Jones added.

The White House announced last week long-awaited executive actions to stop illegal immigrants at the southern border claiming asylum if crossings reach a certain level – a move coming a few months before the November election. The order will temporarily suspend the entry of non-citizens across the southern border once the number of average border encounters exceeds 2,500 a day over seven days, officials said.

However, according to sources who spoke to Fox News, the first full day after the announcement of President Biden’s executive order restricting asylum for most illegal immigrants appeared to have no immediate impact on the massive number of migrants coming across the southern border.

Overall, there were roughly 5,600 CBP encounters on Wednesday, which includes the 4,000 illegal crossings and CBP One App releases at ports of entry.

Jones has previously called on state lawmakers to pass legislation allowing law enforcement to file felony charges against anyone in Ohio who is an illegal immigrant, similar to a controversial measure in Texas, according to Fox 19.

“Our approach here is far from gentle. I’m not a very gentle approach person,” he explained about his no-nonsense attitude.

“I believe if you murder somebody, the death penalty. I believe if you molest children or hurt children, the death penalty. I think terrorism, the death penalty. Selling drugs to somebody that dies, the death penalty. And, now I don’t get to make those rules,” he said.

Jones was particularly concerned about the drugs trafficked into Ohio.

“Everybody [in Ohio] knows somebody that’s died because of that. And it affects us all. It sends chills down my spine, as I tell you that,” the sheriff continued. “It doesn’t seem that our president cares about that. He’s more concerned with global warming and making us all buy electric cars and get rid of our gas stoves.”

‘GANGSTER’ FLORIDA SHERIFF HAS POLITICALLY INCORRECT DEMAND FOR DEMOCRATS FLEEING LIBERAL CITIES: ‘GO BACK’

Ohio had the fifth-highest death rate in the nation from drug overdoses, according to the most recent available data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. There were 5,144 deaths in 2022 and 5,397 in 2021.

“I would tell the president first thing: Close the damn borders, get our communities back, let Americans go to work,” Jones said. “We got 5,000 people die a year because of these drugs coming in from Mexico.”

In the last few years, the Ohio attorney general’s office seized over 2,000 pounds of meth and over 1,000 pounds of fentanyl. Ohio AG Dave Yost’s office reported spikes in drugs seized in 2023, particularly with cocaine and psilocybin mushrooms.

The sheriff said the damage to Ohioans because of his perception that Biden has failed to secure the Southern Border keeps him up at night.

“The people that come see me, that their loved ones have been killed by illegals either behind the wheel, intoxicated, or have died of overdose from the drugs coming from the border… I lose sleep over that,” Jones told Fox News Digital.

As for those who may think the sheriff is politically incorrect, he explained that it’s his job to tell it like it is and to unabashedly incarcerate criminals.

“Am I real soft and fuzzy and cuddly? No, I am not,” said Jones. “I do have a dislike for criminals… Don’t come to this county because you’ll go to prison. You’ll go to jail. That’s my job.”

Video released by a Florida sheriff’s office shows the moment a sniper shot through a computer monitor and killed a suspected armed bank robber who was holding hostages.

It all unfolded Feb. 6 at a Fort Myers Bank of America, said Sheriff Carmine Marceno of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO). Responding deputies discovered the suspect had a knife and claimed he had a bomb while detaining a man and a woman.

“We tried to negotiate with him continuously,” Marceno said in a previous press conference, adding that at one point, the suspect held a knife to the female hostage’s throat.

It was after the suspect “presented deadly force” that an LCSO Special Operations Unit sniper fired a “planned and deliberate shot through a computer monitor,” striking the suspect in the center of the forehead and killing him instantly.

The suspect, identified by LCSO as 36-year-old Sterling Alavache, fell to the ground while the hostages ran away.

After the suspect was shot, flash bangs were used as distraction devices as the Special Operations Unit moved in to remove the hostages and confirm that the suspect was “no longer a threat,” the sheriff said.

Toward the end of the video, the monitor could be seen with a gaping hole through it, but still functioning.

Taylor Swift halts concert mid-song to address startling crowd incident

Taylor Swift is popular almost everywhere – but she’s certainly built some goodwill with the people of Edinburgh.

During a recent concert on the international leg of her esteemed Eras Tour, Swift abruptly stopped singing after seeing something concerning in the crowd.

In the acoustic portion of her set where she surprises her fans with secret songs not routinely played during the concert, Swift stalled her performance of “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve,” after noticing a fan was in distress.

TAYLOR SWIFT FAN AT PARIS CONCERT CAUSES UPROAR AFTER LEAVING BABY ON THE FLOOR

Video recorded by a fan shows Swift seamlessly transitioning from the lyrics to a request for help while still strumming the chords to her song. “Help right in front of me please, right in front of me. Just gonna keep playing until we notice where it is.”

“It’s right, right there,” she said, pointing her guitar toward an area in the crowd. “I’m just gonna keep playing till somebody helps them, then I’m gonna keep singing the song,” she said in staccato-like tone. “I don’t think anyone’s gotten to them yet, and they’re gonna, ’cause we’re not gonna keep singing, we’re just gonna keep talking about the people that need help in front of me.”

“Just let me know when – I could do this all night,” she joked to the crowd.

Moments after, Swift said, “OK, you’re good? Awesome!” before falling back into the bridge.

This isn’t the first time Swift has deviated from a performance for the benefit of a fan. Performing at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia last May, Swift’s lively concert was interrupted by a disturbance off-stage.

While performing her hit song “Bad Blood,” Swift could be heard yelling at an unknown individual, “She’s fine. She wasn’t doing anything!” As the song builds to the chorus, Swift grows more agitated, yelling, “Hey! Stop!”

The 14-time Grammy Award winner uttered one final “Stop” before strutting across the stage and continuing on with her set. She never addressed the incident, although video of the contentious moment went viral on social media.

Fans immediately defended Swift, explaining she was yelling at a security guard in an effort to protect her fans.

Safety is a priority for Swift. In November, she postponed one of her shows in Argentina due to inclement weather, despite being known to perform in torrential downpours.

Later that month, she sadly announced a young fan had died prior to one of her concerts in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. She postponed her show the following night, due to extreme heat conditions.

Princess Diana’s brother Earl Spencer reveals ‘immensely sad’ news

Earl Charles Spencer and his wife Karen Spencer are calling it quits after nearly 13 years of marriage.

The younger brother of the late Princess Diana announced the split to The Mail on Sunday.

“It is immensely sad,” the British aristocrat told the outlet about the divorce. “I just want to devote myself to all my children, and to my grandchildren, and I wish Karen every happiness in the future.”

PRINCESS DIANA’S BROTHER, CHARLES SPENCER, REVEALS DEVASTATING FAMILY SECRET

A spokesperson for Spencer didn’t immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

According to the outlet, the 9th Earl Spencer’s marriage to the Countess of Spencer ended amid the writing of his memoir, “A Very Private School.” The pair first announced the breakup privately to their staff at Althorp House, Charles’ ancestral home, in April.

The outlet also reported that Spencer is “becoming close to” Norwegian archaeologist Dr. Cat Jarman. They “look very happy together” but it is still “early days.”

Jarman co-hosts the history podcast “The Rabbit Hole Detectives” with Spencer and Rev. Richard Coles.

Spencer and Karen, 52, said “I do” at Althorp House in June 2011. The wedding took place two months after Spencer’s nephew, Prince William, married Kate Middleton. Althorp House, the historic English estate where Spencer and his sister Diana grew up, became their residence upon marriage. They share a 12-year-old daughter, Charlotte Diana, whose name pays tribute to her royal aunt.

Karen, a social entrepreneur, is the founder and CEO of Whole Child International. She has two older daughters from her previous marriage to Hollywood producer Mark Gordon.

Spencer, who has been married three times, shares four children with his first wife, Victoria Lockwood, and two children with his second wife, Caroline Freud.

In his memoir, “A Very Private School,” Spencer revealed how he was sexually abused as a child. Over the years, Spencer kept the abuse a secret. But after two failed marriages, Spencer realized he needed help.

“I was so confused by my endless romantic disasters, deep unhappiness and two divorces,” he previously told Fox News Digital. “I also wanted to do something for my children. Actually, that was the spur. I wanted to get better for them, so I could be a better father. I don’t know if they would agree that I managed it, but that was my aim. And I think, if I hadn’t been a parent, I probably would have just gone on… coping. [Saying it out loud] was surprisingly helpful. It didn’t get to the root of the problem, but it sent me on a course of more honest therapy.”

Spencer said he’s “really turned a corner” in the last three to four months, especially after writing his book. He’s still doing “a very effective” post-traumatic stress disorder treatment, as well as Tai Chi and breathing exercises.

“I’ve got a whole armory of support techniques to try and get to a better place,” he shared.

Following the book’s publication, Spencer told People magazine that Karen “has been supportive.”

“I think it was very challenging for her to have a husband going through what was essentially four and a half years of the most profound therapy with very difficult undertones to it,” he told the outlet. “And she supported the idea of me doing it.”

“I think she always hoped I would come out happier and healthier,” he continued. “And that seems to be the case very much. So, I’m grateful to have her standing by me while I went through this, what I now realize was an essential process.”

Mom drowns out the haters by doubling down on controversial shopping cart take

The California mother who went viral for refusing to return her shopping cart at the grocery store defended herself on live TV over the weekend after drawing sharp critiques online.

Dr. Leslie Dobson, a married mom of two, made headlines last week after she declared in a viral TikTok video, “I’m not returning my shopping cart, and you can judge me all you want.

Dobson explained that by the time she loads her groceries into the car and buckles in her children, she is not “leaving them in the car to go return the cart.”

“So if you’re gonna give me a dirty look, f— off,” she says in the video, which garnered over 11 million views.

OHIO WOMAN ACCUSED OF STABBING 3-YEAR-OLD BOY TO DEATH IN ‘RANDOM’ PARKING LOT ATTACK

After receiving backlash on social media, Dobson posted a follow-up video, where she argued that “Last year, 265 children were abducted in parking lots in America, [and] half of those were sexually assaulted.

“As a single mom returning your shopping cart, you are prime for a predator to watch and grab you,” she said.

Her number appears to come from a fact sheet from the organization Kids and Car Safety, which reports that 265 cars had been stolen with children alone inside in 2022, though not all in parking lots. The organization does not mention sexual assault but says most of the time thieves don’t realize a child was in the car and subsequently abandon the car or the child on the side of the road.

WALMART PARKING LOT SHOOTING IN UPSTATE NY LEAVES 1 DEAD, 3 INJURED, INCLUDING 15-YEAR-OLD

Despite being labeled “lazy,” “entitled” and a “Karen” online, the unapologetic mom doubled down on her position during a local TV interview over the weekend, urging others to avoid choosing “social niceties” over protecting their children.

“Coming from the mindset of someone who has worked with predators for 20 years, I know how they think, and I know what they look for, and that is a vulnerable moment,” she told KTLA 5 Weekend Morning News.

“When you return to your car, you have already been watched for a significant amount of time, so if you are choosing social niceties over protecting your children, I just wanted to say that you don’t have to.”

She said she was “shocked” by the initial response to her video, but maintained that her position is centered around child safety.

“I am shocked, but I am also very happy, because I’ve received hundreds — maybe to the point of even thousands – of messages from moms saying, ‘I pulled into the spot, I’m looking at my surroundings, and I’m more aware now.’ I know the video was provocative, but that’s what I wanted… I wanted to grab attention. It’s the bigger picture of ‘We need to empower ourselves to trust our intuitions,'” she said.

“We have taken power back from predators because now, this is a worldwide conversation, which I am shocked by,” she added. “But honestly, if we have awareness, then that predator isn’t going to be able to do what he intended.”

When she is not with her children, Dobson said she does in fact return her shopping cart to the designated areas.

“I always return my shopping cart, but if I don’t feel safe and my kids are in the car, they are my priority,” she said. “I’m putting it somewhere safe and prioritizing the safety of my kids.”
