Underdog Dem using Dave Chappelle show to gain edge in pivotal swing state
A Democrat Senate primary candidate is selling tickets to comedian Dave Chappelle’s show in Detroit this month to raise money for his underdog campaign against Rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich.
In an event advertised on fundraising platform ActBlue, actor Hill Harper’s campaign invited donors to a live show on July 11.
The Democrat candidate described Chappelle as an “old friend” in a statement to the Detroit News.

A representative for Chappelle told Fox News Digital that the show was just like any of the comedian’s other planned shows and Harper’s campaign had purchased a number of tickets to resell for his election effort, with Chappelle’s approval.
Harper’s campaign was contacted by Fox News Digital.
A poster for the event says it is paid for by “Harper for Michigan” and the event is set to be at St. Andrews Hall.
“We are thrilled to extend an exclusive invitation to you for an unforgettable evening with comedy icon Dave Chappelle! Join us for a live show in Detroit on Thursday July 11th. Doors open at 6:00 PM, and the show starts at 7:30 PM,” the invitation reads.

Guests can buy tickets for as much as $3,300 for “Gold Circle + VIP Reception,” which allows them to attend an event after the show with Harper. The least expensive tickets for the event cost $250 for balcony seating.
Cellphones are restricted at the performance, which is common for Chappelle’s shows.
Slotkin, considered the front-runner in the Michigan Democrat primary, is a current House member who previously flipped a Republican district in the swing state. With the retirement of Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., the state’s Senate race is rated “Lean Democratic” by nonpartisan political handicapper the Cook Political Report.

The Senate primary elections in Michigan will be held on Aug. 6.
On the Republican side, former Rep. Mike Rogers, businessman Sandy Pensler and former Rep. Justin Amash are competing for the party’s nomination. Rogers appears to have a significant edge over his opponents with the support of former President Trump and the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Michigan is expected to play a pivotal role in deciding both the presidential election and which party will control the Senate in 2025. The state’s significant Arab population has posed an issue for some Democrats already, including President Biden, as many have expressed frustration over his handling of the war between Israel and terrorist group Hamas in Gaza.
Harper has seized on Slotkin’s reluctance to call for a cease-fire in Gaza, previously claiming she wouldn’t do so because of “checks.”

Chappelle has been vocal about the war in Gaza, reportedly calling it a “genocide” during a show in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, last month.
Slotkin’s campaign did not provide comment to Fox News Digital in time for publication.

Olivia Culpo once again found herself being forced to defend the decisions she made for her wedding to San Francisco 49ers star Christian McCaffrey late last month.
Culpo, who was already criticized for having “pick-me girl vibes” by social media influencers, faced similar criticism from another influencer. Jessica Weslie Arena said in a TikTok video on Tuesday she got “pick-me vibes” after reading Culpo’s interview with Vogue and discussing what kind of makeup she was wearing.

Culpo wasn’t wearing mascara, lip liner or eyebrow makeup, Vogue reported.
“I never felt more beautiful than when I was in my ceremony dress and under my veil – I really wanted the simplicity of each component to harmonize perfectly,” she told the magazine.
Weslie Arena said Vogue should point out that what Culpo wasn’t wearing gave her “weird” vibes.
But Culpo didn’t decide to just take the remark in stride. She fired back in the comments section.
“It was an interview….. they asked me what my makeup was………………………..” she wrote.
The odd criticism hasn’t been the first and likely won’t be the last. Even McCaffrey came out to defend his wife.

A fashion influencer took issue with the dress Culpo wore for her wedding day, describing her Dolce & Gabbana long-sleeved ballgown as “modest.”
“I’ve been a bridal creator for four years now, and I have never said this before, but I do not like this wedding dress,” influencer Kennedy Bingham, who uses the moniker Gown Eyed Girl, said in a video posted to social media.
McCaffrey responded to Bingham’s commentary by slamming her for sharing an “evil” post.
“What an evil thing to post online. I hope you can find joy and peace in the world, the way my beautiful wife does,” he said on the Instagram reel.
Bingham added that while she did not have a problem with the “simple, elegant” dress, she said the gown had “no personality.” She captioned the video, “From Miss Universe to Miss Pick Me, Olivia Culpo is earning her crown.”

‘Jeopardy!’ fans fume after ‘positively disgusting’ ruling costs contestant
A ruling on a recent episode of “Jeopardy!” has fans up in arms.
On Wednesday’s episode of the game show, Kelly Proulx buzzed in to answer a clue in the “Waterfalls” category. She added an extra “s” at the end of her response, which was enough for host Ken Jennings to deny her the points – something fans are calling “brutal.”
The clue read: “A Yosemite fall with a wispy ribbon of water that flutters in the air like a diaphanous cloth bears the name of this marital wear.”

Proulx answered, “What is Bridalveil Falls?”
“No, I’m sorry,” Jennings responded. “It’s actually Bridalveil Fall, so we couldn’t take that. It is, ‘What is a bridal veil?’”
Proulx didn’t win the game – she was the returning champion, but fellow contestant Isaac Hirsch’s sizable lead, along with the failure of all three contestants to correctly guess the Final Jeopardy clue, meant that her incorrect response didn’t play a factor in her loss.
Still, fans were upset at Jennings’ ruling, complaining that it was a “brutal call.”
“Kelly should hold a grudge on this one,” one person wrote on the “Jeopardy!” Reddit page, while someone else called the decision against her answer “extremely pedantic.”

Another comment read, “Wow, Kelly was robbed. That ruling on Bridal Veil Fall/ Falls was ridiculous. Adding the S seems to fall firmly in ‘yea, we’ll take that’ territory.”
One person wrote, “I typically give long and wide deference to the judges, but f— the judges for that ruling. there is nothing pinning the clue to ‘fall’, so she got the required information correct. that was positively disgusting.”
Others explained that the issue is that judges were only looking for the name of the article of clothing – “bridal veil.” They argued that by choosing to give extra information in the full name of the location, it was on Proulx to be fully correct, down to the letter.

Last week, fans of the long-running game show lashed out about another clue – one involving actress Zendaya.
“Before somehow making tennis steamy in 2024, this single-named star guested on Disney Channel’s ‘Good Luck Charlie,'” the clue read.
Although contestant Staci Garner guessed Zendaya correctly, the clue left people confused online as the actress only appeared in one episode of “Good Luck Charlie.”
“jeopardy just falsely stated that zendaya starred in ‘good luck, charlie,” a user online wrote on X.
Another wrote, “Zendaya was not on ‘Good Luck, Charlie’… right?”
“The one crossover episode?” another X user asked.

Zendaya got her start as a child star on Disney’s “Shake It Up,” which aired for three seasons from 2010 to 2013. As stated, she did portray her character in the show, Rocky Blue, in a single crossover episode.
Disney heiress says she won’t finance the Dem Party until Biden goes
Walt Disney Company heiress and liberal megadonor Abigail Disney said she will withhold cash to the Democratic Party until President Biden drops out of the 2024 race.
Biden’s disastrous performance at last week’s debate has caused widespread concern about his candidacy from Democrats who now believe he is not up to running the country for another four years. Abigail Disney, granddaughter of Walt Disney Co’s co-founder Roy Disney and longtime donor to the Democratic Party, is among the influential liberals who have seen enough.
“I intend to stop any contributions to the party unless and until they replace Biden at the top of the ticket. This is realism, not disrespect. Biden is a good man and has served his country admirably, but the stakes are far too high,” Abigail Disney told CNBC.

“If Biden does not step down, the Democrats will lose. Of that I am absolutely certain,” Disney continued. “The consequences for the loss will be genuinely dire.”
The Disney heiress has a preferred replacement and wants Democrats to overlook Vice President Kamala Harris’ “shortcomings” after years of giving Biden a pass.
“We have an excellent vice president. If Democrats would tolerate any of her perceived shortcomings even one-tenth as much as they have tolerated Biden’s — and let’s not kid ourselves about where race and gender figure in that inequity — and if Democrats can find a way to stop quibbling and rally around her, we can win this election by a lot,” she said.
The Walt Disney Company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Biden has insisted he has no plans to drop out. He is scheduled to do a much-anticipated interview with Disney-owned ABC News on Friday.

Disney’s stance could be troubling for Democrats if more rich donors follow suit. Gideon Stein, president of the Moriah Fund, said he is pausing planned donations of $3.5 million that would go to election-related nonprofits and political organizations, CNBC reported.
