Here’s what House GOP lawmakers are saying about Kamala replacing Biden

House Republicans are already sharpening their attacks against Vice President Kamala Harris as public discussions swell over whether she will replace President Biden at the top of Democrats’ 2024 ticket.

GOP lawmakers — in both safe red seats and swing districts being targeted by the left — dismissed Harris as a political threat to their chances in November, arguing she’s still tied to the same progressive Biden policies they believe are unpopular with voters.

Rep. Nick Langworthy, R-N.Y., who served as longtime chair of the New York Republican Party before coming to Congress, told Fox News Digital, “Kamala Harris is just as responsible for this administration’s failures, but she’s more incompetent.”

“She will make no difference to the outcome. President Trump will be our 47th,” he said.

BIDEN TELLS WHITE HOUSE AUDIENCE HE’S ‘NOT GOING ANYWHERE’ DURING FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION

A swing-seat Republican who asked not to be named told Fox News Digital they were skeptical Harris would do better on the debate stage than Biden.

“I would say she’s the weakest part of the ticket right now, as bad as Biden is,” that GOP lawmaker said.

“Whether it’s Joe Biden or [Harris] at the top of the ticket, they’ll have to defend their abysmal, tax-and-spend record,” said Rep. Carlos Gimenez, R-Fla. “We’re already seeing significant Republican advantages across the board in swing states, especially increase in support from Hispanic voters.”

Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., a Trump ally from a deep red district, told Fox News Digital that Biden and Harris “both own the same disastrous policies.”

It comes as conversations swirl around Harris as one of the most likely successors to Biden if he chooses to withdraw from the race ahead of his November rematch with former President Trump.

WH AIDES, CAMPAIGN STAFF REPORTEDLY ‘MISERABLE’ AS PRESSURE BUILDS ON BIDEN TO DROP OUT

Biden and his campaign have insisted he will not bow out of the race, but his weak performance in last month’s presidential debate has left many on the left wondering if he’s the best positioned candidate to beat Trump. Multiple polls have shown Biden modestly trailing Trump since the debate aired.

Harris has maintained that she is standing by Biden on multiple occasions when asked about the speculation by reporters.

But if she were to take over, Harris would be the only Democratic candidate who could inherit the $240 million Biden-Harris campaign war chest.

The House GOP campaign arm, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), is also aiming its fire at Harris as well, in a telling sign that it sees her as the next top Democratic target.

A new advertisement released by the NRCC this week cast Harris as Biden’s “enabler-in-chief” and hits her for her role as Biden’s “border czar.”

HOLLYWOOD MEGADONOR CALLS ON DEMS TO ‘STOP GIVING’ MONEY UNTIL BIDEN DROPS OUT

A spokesperson for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) told Axios of the ad, “Republicans are fooling themselves if they think the American public will blame anyone besides Donald Trump and his feckless band of Republican extremists and phony moderates who killed a bipartisan border deal.”

A recent CNN/SSRS poll shows Harris performing slightly better than Biden in a matchup against Trump.

But when asked about her impact on the November races, House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, R-Minn. — a past NRCC chair — would not speak to the vice president specifically, though he was confident in the GOP’s chances to secure the White House.

“It doesn’t matter which incompetent failure Democrats have on the ballot in November — voters are ready to abandon the sinking ship that is the Biden-Harris administration,” Emmer said.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Biden campaign and to Harris’ office for comment.

Trump eyes a state no Republican has carried in a quarter century

NEWFIELDS, N.H. — It’s been 24 years since a Republican carried the swing state of New Hampshire in a presidential election.

You have to go back to then-Texas Gov. George W. Bush in 2000. Four years later, as he won re-election, then-President Bush was narrowly edged in the Granite State, kicking off a losing streak that has extended to the present day.

But in the wake of two recent polls that indicated a margin-of-error race in New Hampshire and following President Biden’s extremely rough debate performance nine days ago in his first primetime face-to-face showdown with former President Trump, Republicans are increasingly hopeful they can bring an end to the losing streak.

BIDEN FACES THE MOST CONSEQUENTIAL STRETCH OF HIS POLITICAL CAREER

“I firmly believe that New Hampshire is very much in play,” Steve Stepanek, the senior Trump adviser in the state, told Fox News.

Former longtime state party chair and former Democratic National Committee member Kathy Sullivan disagreed, spotlighting that “New Hampshire is not Trump-friendly territory” and that “there’s nothing changing the dynamic now in terms of Biden versus Trump in New Hampshire.”

BIDEN RAMPS UP SPENDING IN BID TO STEADY HIS FALTERING CAMPAIGN

Since the start of the general election rematch between Biden and Trump four months ago, much of the campaign spotlight has shined on the seven key battlegrounds that decided the 2020 election. Those states include Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada — which Biden narrowly carried four years ago — and North Carolina, which Trump won by a razor-thin margin.

Starting in May, Trump’s campaign started eyeing Minnesota and Virginia, two blue-leaning states in presidential contests, with his top advisers saying they were “clearly in play.”

Trump headlined a Minnesota GOP fundraising gala later that month, and last week, on the day after his debate with Biden, Trump held a large rally in Virginia.

The debate was a major setback for Biden, who at 81 is the oldest president in the nation’s history. His halting delivery and stumbling answers at the showdown in Atlanta sparked widespread panic in the Democratic Party and sparked a rising tide of calls from within his own party for him to step aside as its 2024 standard-bearer.

Fighting back, Biden is now aiming to show Americans that he still has the stamina and acuity to handle the toughest and most demanding job in the world and prove that he has the energy and fortitude to defeat Trump.

TOP NON-PARTISAN POLITICAL HANDICAPPER SHIFTS TWO STATES TOWARDS TRUMP

Earlier this week, well-known non-partisan political handicapper Sabato’s Crystal Ball shifted two key states towards Trump in the wake of the debate.

Michigan was shifted from “Leans Democrat” to “Toss-up” and Minnesota was moved from “Likely Democrat” to “Leans Democrat.”

In New Hampshire, a poll conducted after the debate by the Saint Anselm College Survey Center suggested that Trump was edging Biden by two points, which was within the survey’s sampling error. The poll followed a survey conducted in late May by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center which indicated Biden with a lower single-digit edge.

“I do think we are now in a battleground,” said Neil Levesque, executive director of the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College. “You are likely to see states that are similar to ours that show it’s tied up or Trump has the lead.”

But pointing to the new poll, Levesque told Fox News that “the good news for Biden is he’s weak with the people who self-describe as very liberal. Just 67% support. That means, in the end, most likely many of those people are going to vote for Biden even if they don’t want to admit it right now.”

New England College president Wayne Lesperance, a veteran New Hampshire-based political science professor, also said that the state “is in play.”

“Biden’s performance at the most recent debate has pushed Democrats to question his ability to campaign, win and govern. Recent polls in New Hampshire point to continued rock-solid support by Republicans for Trump. Democratic support seems to be faltering with some looking at independent candidates,” Lesperance noted. “As long as questions remain about Biden’s ability to go forward, the President will continue to bleed support, putting the Granite State in play.”

TRUMP GETS BOOST IN POST-DEBATE POLLS AFTER BIDEN’S BOTCHED PERFORMANCE

While the polls indicate a close contest in a state Biden carried by seven points over Trump four years ago, the Democrats currently hold a very large organizational advantage over the GOP when it comes to ground-game operations.

The Biden re-election team and the state Democratic coordinated campaign have 14 field offices across New Hampshire, with boots on the ground since January. Meanwhile, the Trump team and the GOP currently have one field office in addition to the campaign’s state headquarters.

“New Hampshire Democrats will continue to use our robust, grassroots campaign infrastructure to reach Granite Staters in every corner of New Hampshire to ensure we come together and re-elect President Biden and Vice President Harris in November — the stakes could not be higher,” longtime state Democratic Party chair Ray Buckley emphasized in a statement.

But Stepanek, who chaired Trump’s 2016 campaign in New Hampshire before later serving as state GOP chair, touted that “there’s an army of Trump supporters out there, and they’re all coming out.”

“It’s going to be a turnout situation, and we feel we have a very significant ground game that’s going to turnout not only all the Trump supporters but all the Republicans and independents leaning Republican in spite of all the things the Democrats have on the ground here in New Hampshire,” Stepanek predicted.

And he argued that the Democrats “have a significant enthusiasm gap that they are contending with, and we don’t have that.”

As for specifics on how the Trump campaign will build out its ground game in New Hampshire, Stepanek answered, “My game plan I can’t tell you because it’s confidential.”

Sullivan, a top Biden surrogate in New Hampshire, shot back, claiming that when it comes to ground-game operations, “Republicans always say they’re going to do something, and they never follow through.”

Sullivan pointed to the Democrats’ “incredibly strong ground game and seeing nothing on the ground from the Trump campaign.” She also spotlighted that “the issues like abortion, the Republicans are just not in the mainstream.”

“Between the ground game, the issues, the spending by the Biden campaign and the lack of any presence by the Trump campaign, I don’t see the Republicans catching up,” she predicted.

Sullivan also highlighted that they “got a real good head start when we had the write-in Biden effort,” as she referenced the outside effort by state Democrats that boosted the president to a large victory in New Hampshire’s unsanctioned Democratic presidential primary in January, where Biden wasn’t on the ballot.

And in a state where Trump’s GOP presidential primary rival, former U.N. ambassador and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, won 43% of the vote — losing to Trump by only 11 points — Sullivan noted that “the Biden campaign is going to be reaching out to moderate to conservative Republicans who understand what a danger Donald Trump is to our democracy.”

Human case of deadly medieval disease confirmed in the US, health officials say

A human case of the plague has been confirmed in Pueblo County, Colorado, according to health officials.

The Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment (PDPHE) is working with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to investigate, according to a press release.

No specific information was provided about the person who contracted the plague.

BUBONIC PLAGUE IN THE US: DO YOU NEED TO WORRY ABOUT CATCHING THE RODENT-BORNE DISEASE?

“We advise all individuals to protect themselves and their pets from plague,” Alicia Solis, program manager of the Office of Communicable Disease and Emergency Preparedness at PDPHE, stated in the release.

What is the plague?

The bubonic plague is caused by Yersinia pestis, a bacterium that was likely first introduced in North America around 1900 from rats on ships coming from South Asia, according to Timothy Brewer, M.D., professor of medicine and epidemiology at UCLA.

“Since its introduction 120 years ago, it has become endemic in ground squirrels and rodents in the rural Southwestern U.S.,” he told Fox News Digital.

Although the disease can affect people of all ages, half the cases involve patients between the ages of 12 and 45, as stated on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website.

‘ARCTIC ZOMBIE VIRUSES’ COULD BE RELEASED BY CLIMATE CHANGE FROM THAWING PERMAFROST, SOME SCIENTISTS CLAIM

Globally, between 1,000 and 2,000 cases of plague are reported to the World Health Organization each year — although only an average of seven annual cases are in the U.S.

If left untreated, the plague has a fatality rate of 30% to 60%.

With antibiotics, that drops to below 5%.

Symptoms and spread

Symptoms of the plague typically include severe headache, fever and chills, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting and swollen lymph nodes, the health department listed.

The plague can spread by droplets from one person infected with Y. pestis to another, according to Erica Susky, a certified infection control practitioner based in Canada

“The more common risk of exposure in the U.S. is from pets, rodents and fleas,” she told Fox News Digital.

“Pets can sometimes be infected when encountering an infected flea or rodent and may pass it along to their pet owners from a bite or if the pet is ill.”

Another possible source is from hunting, she said — “skinning animals is also a risk, as the bacterium can spread via infected body fluids.”

“Treat pets promptly if they have a flea infestation and seek veterinary treatment if a pet becomes ill.”

Breathing in dust contaminated by dried rodent urine or feces with the bacteria can also spread the infection, according to Brewer.

Preventing the plague

The best means of prevention is to avoid rodents and fleas whenever possible, including dead rodents, Susky said.

“One way to do this is to ensure the home is rodent-proof by eliminating places where rodents may enter and hide,” she told Fox News Digital.

Whenever possible, pets should be kept indoors, Susky recommended.

If pets are outdoors, they should be leashed.

Treat pets promptly if they have a flea infestation and seek veterinary treatment if a pet becomes ill,” Susky advised.

Hunters should wear gloves and wash their hands after skinning animals, and should change and wash their clothes afterward, she added.

The PDPHE also recommends keeping pet food in rodent-proof containers and not allowing pets to sleep in bed.

“If spending time outdoors where one may be bitten by fleas and other insects, repellent should be applied to minimize potential bites, which are a portal of entry for the bacterium if one is bitten by an infected flea,” Susky said.

Anyone who develops symptoms of plague should see a health care provider immediately, Solis advised in the PDPHE alert.

“Plague can be treated successfully with antibiotics, but an infected person must be treated promptly to avoid serious complications or death.”

Missing teen found a thousand miles from home after appearing on live video

A 17-year-old boy who had been missing from Flint, Michigan, since May has been located after he randomly appeared on a live-streamed video Wednesday.

Troy Coleman, who was last seen leaving his house in Flint and possibly boarding a public bus in late May, spooked popular Twitch streamers FaZe Lacy and Clix when he came up to the streamers while they were recording a live video at an outdoor table at a Miami restaurant.

“Bro, are you good?” a man in the video can be heard asking Coleman, who wanders around the outdoor tables talking to people throughout the course of FaZe Lacy’s live-streamed video.

Coleman was wearing a neon-green bathing suit and did not appear to have any other belongings with him besides a sweatshirt.

Dozens of people watching the live video left real-time comments when Coleman entered the scene, calling him a “crackhead” and a drunk.

Afterward, FaZe Lacy shared an email on X from Trent Coleman, who identified himself as Coleman’s brother.

“Hello my name is Trent [C]oleman and my missing little brother from [M]ichigan was on Clix and [L]acy’s stream in Miami, he was wearing green shorts and they were making fun of him, he is not on drugs he is scizhophrenic and 17 years old if someone can contact me about this [I] would be so thankful he has been missing for 3 months and this case was put on homicide in [M]icigan,” the email states.

FaZe Lacy noted in a post on X that he “wasn’t sure” whether he should make the email public but was “hoping somehow this helps [Coleman] be found for his family.”

The streamer said in another post that Coleman had mentioned the hotel where he was staying on the live recording.

“We got into contact with his brother and told him what hotel he said he was staying at on stream. He has been found and placed in a holding cell in Miami until he gets transferred back to Michigan with his family,” FaZe Lacy wrotebo on X. “The power of the internet is insane thank you guys.”

On Thursday, the Flint Township Police Department announced that Coleman had been “found safe in Miami,” adding that Michigan police were working with Miami authorities “to arrange his safe return to Michigan to be with his family.”

Walmart rival gaining ground in the pricing game, slashing costs to win back customers

While Walmart is still seen as the price leader in the grocery industry, its rivals aren’t far behind.

In a recent report, Telsey Group analyzed online grocery prices across seven retailers including Walmart, Target, Amazon Fresh, Kroger (King Soopers), Albertsons (Safeway), Sprouts and Whole Foods (via Amazon) in Denver. Analysts specifically looked into 40 key items across two categories, including “several premium items.”

Telsey Advisory Group Senior Managing Director Joe Feldman told FOX Business that Kroger and Target, which usually trade off in the number two spot, have slightly “narrowed the gap with Walmart” and are less of a price premium to the Arkansas-based retailer than they used to be.

INFLATION RISES 3.3% IN MAY, LESS THAN EXPECTED

In June 2023, Target and Kroger were at a 14% to 15% premium to Walmart. Today, that figure is sitting around 6% to 7%.

However, what’s even more interesting, according to Feldman, is the price drop at Amazon Fresh.

A year ago, Amazon Fresh was 26% more expensive than Walmart. Today, it’s just 7.5% more expensive, underscoring how they’ve been working pretty aggressively to get their prices down, according to the exec.

Ticker Security Last Change Change %
WMT WALMART INC. 70.04 +1.80 +2.64%
AMZN AMAZON.COM INC. 200.00 +2.41 +1.22%

Consumer package goods (CPG) companies are taking on some of the costs to help with those price cuts, according to Feldman, who noted that is good news for the consumer.

MORE THAN A QUARTER OF AMERICANS ADMIT TO SKIPPING MEALS DUE TO SKYROCKETING GROCERY COSTS: REPORT

With these CPG companies helping to drive down prices, major grocers “are able to really be aggressive and, you know, price competitively for the consumer.”

Food-at-home prices, otherwise known as groceries, are still about 20% higher than in 2019. However, overall inflation has dropped significantly from the highs seen in 2022.

In May, the cost of food rose only slightly, up 0.1% over the course of the month, and grocery prices were unchanged.

Grocery prices are one of the biggest reminders of household inflation, alongside gas prices.

Those “are the two things that they look at most. And they see it, you know, every day [or] every few days. And when those prices start to moderate, the consumer can feel a lot better about how things are going,” Feldman said.

Elon Musk’s mom, SI Swimsuit model credits her fitness to flexitarian diet

When Maye Musk was asked to pose for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit again, she did not break a sweat.

The 76-year-old, who has led a modeling career spanning over 50 years, credits a “flexitarian diet” for helping her look and feel her best.

The style of eating has been described as one that prioritizes plant-based foods while consuming meat in moderation. It is considered more “flexible” than vegetarianism.

SI SWIMSUIT MODEL CAMILLE KOSTEK BROKE THIS NFL RULE FOR HUNK ROB GRONKOWSKI

The mother of Elon Musk was photographed for the 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. The outlet is celebrating its 60th anniversary. She told Fox News Digital there are “two reasons” why she follows a flexitarian diet.

“When I got divorced [in 1979], I couldn’t afford to buy meat, fish or chicken,” Musk recalled. “So I had to feed my children bean stew. And as they say, they did get tired of my bean stew. But I did vary from it. I used different beans and lots of vegetables. [I also gave them] fruits in season. Of course, we could never have afforded organic or anything like that.

“You [also] get whole wheat bread… in South Africa, brown bread was subsidized by the government. White bread was more expensive, so we only ate brown bread. And of course, it kept us all in good health. And then we had cereal and fruit in the morning.”

“I remember Elon saying, ‘I always wanted Coco Pops, but we only got Raisin Bran,'” she chuckled. “Well, the thing is, Coco Pops were more expensive and less nutritious, so that’s what [my children] got. And if they complained, I didn’t listen. And then [my daughter] Tosca said she always wanted apricot jam, but that was more expensive than strawberry jam. So she didn’t get that either. And then [my son] Kimbal said, ‘I left home to go to university because I was tired of your bean stew.’”

“They really joke about how I am, but I’m also not a good cook,” Musk admitted. “That’s also why Kimbal learned how to cook… He loves to eat really great food. Some people just don’t like cooking and that’s OK. You just eat the foods you like. I eat mainly vegetarian at home.”

Musk is eating less bean stew these days. She does stock up on fresh fruits and veggies, which she said is essential as you get older.

“I eat very well,” she explained. “To me, to keep a body healthy and skin glowing, you have to eat well. That keeps me in good health… [When my children visit], we usually send out for meat, fish or chicken. Tosca and Kimbal really love cooking. So I always have delicious home-cooked meals.”

Still, Musk is not afraid to indulge in moderation.

“It would usually be something sweet because I love desserts,” she explained. “But I have managed it. I used to overdo it… I was the first plus-size model in South Africa in my 30s because I’d been through stressful times. And stress is a common reason to overeat. I gained 60 pounds. So there I was, eating a lot… But it affected my knees. My back was hurting. It was really painful. And then cholesterol goes up. I could go on medication for the rest of my life or get my weight under control. So I have to keep it under control.”

Musk joked that she cannot keep a box of chocolates at home because “your old habits still want to come back.” However, that does not mean she eliminates sweets altogether.

“When it comes to desserts in restaurants, I take a teaspoon,” she explained. “If it tingles in my mouth, I will eat half of it. But if it doesn’t, I don’t eat it.”

Musk is also a big believer in having a daily active lifestyle. She noted that finding simple workouts that can be done at home is key to starting a new routine and sticking with it.

“I walk my dog three times a day, although she sniffs more than he walks,” she chuckled. “I do exercises at night when I FaceTime my twin sister – she lives in Canada. I have 30 minutes to an hour of working out at home. I used to work out hard, but then I would hurt myself. You can overdo things. I wanted to be extremely fit. And then you find out you don’t need to hurt yourself. You can just be active.”

“I do more yoga, jumping on the spot and weights,” she said. “Our kids wonder what [my sister and I are] talking about. But we talk about our lives.”

Over the years, Musk has learned plenty of tips and tricks to look good in front of cameras. She is not afraid to use them.

“I’m OK looking my way,” she explained. “I don’t think I have many wrinkles, but in a midday sun without makeup on? Yeah, I certainly look my age. But I’m happy to use filters if I have to, if I don’t like the lighting of the photo. But usually, I like good lighting. It just makes life easier. And of course, on the red carpet, you don’t have a chance to retouch anything. But the lighting is good there, too. The photographers want a good picture. So I haven’t had anyone insult me.”

“I think once every three months, somebody says, ‘You’re old,’” she continued. “But I don’t care. I can just delete [those comments]. Doesn’t bother me. I guess I’m old, but I’m on social media doing very well. I’m getting most of my bookings through social media.”

Musk became the oldest cover model in SI Swimsuit history when she appeared on the cover of the 2022 issue at age 74, the outlet reported. The title was taken by Martha Stewart, 81, in 2023.

“It’s an honor really,” said Musk. “You don’t expect this when you’re 76, but it’s just surprising and exciting… [My children] are delighted… When you walk out in a swimsuit, you’re really not excited for anybody to see you. But [SI] encourages you to let loose, be happy with yourself and look fabulous.”

“I think women just have to realize that as you get older, you do get wiser,” Musk noted. “People still try to take advantage of you, but you can recognize it better and quicker so that you don’t go as much into miserable situations… Even if you have to write down how you’re going to make a change, you have to make a change. You don’t have to live in misery all your life. You will struggle. You’ll be scared. You’ll have no confidence. If you’re unhappy [with yourself], you’ve just got to make a plan.”

For those who are hesitant about rocking a swimsuit this summer, Musk has some advice.

“Go to the beach and look at the men,” she said. “Do the men care? Are they insecure? They will be in tiny [shorts] and… flaunting themselves, thinking they are fabulous. Women should do the same… You have to enjoy your time at the beach. It’s fun to do that. And if anyone is insulting you, send the insult right back.

“It’s so bizarre that a man can insult a woman when he looks way worse than her. I don’t know why we allow that. And if other women are insulting you, then you don’t have to mix with them. But you need to feel good about yourself when you go for a swim.”

A-list actor went undercover to be normal for a day, realized it was terrible

Kevin Bacon is no stranger to fame.

After decades in Hollywood, the prolific actor has become a household name. But he once decided to try life outside the spotlight. To do this, he used prosthetics and accessories to form a disguise, but he didn’t like what happened.

“I’m not complaining, but I have a face that’s pretty recognizable,” Bacon explained in a new interview with Vanity Fair. “Putting my hat and glasses on is only going to work to a certain extent.”

KEVIN BACON, KYRA SEDGWICK MAKE RARE APPEARANCE WITH THEIR ADULT KIDS

To be able to truly be unrecognizable, he said, “I went to a special effects makeup artist, had consultations and asked him to make me a prosthetic disguise.”

With the makeup artist’s help, he was given a new nose and new teeth. After adding accessories, he ventured out to The Grove, a popular outdoor shopping center in Los Angeles.

“Nobody recognized me,” he recalled. “People were kind of pushing past me, not being nice. Nobody said, ‘I love you.’ I had to wait in line to, I don’t know, buy a f—ing coffee or whatever. I was like, ‘This sucks. I want to go back to being famous.'”

As Bacon explained later in the interview, fame was always something he wanted, even as a child.

“My father [Edmund Bacon, an urban planner] was famous in Philadelphia, which, in some ways, is a small pond. But, for me, it was a big pond,” he explained. “I saw him get recognized by people when he would walk down the street, and seeing that was definitely a big driving force in my life.

“Frankly, I wanted to be more famous than him. And you can lay me down on the shrink’s couch. We could talk about that for a while. But it was definitely a motivator.”

For Bacon, it’s not only about fame. He told Vanity Fair nearly 50 years after his feature film debut in 1978’s “Animal House” he’s still invested in the art of acting.

“Yes, I am still hungry, and I still feel like the best work is in front of me,” he said. “I don’t think it’s a competition. It’s a competition with myself. I probably did this in the past, but I’m not looking at this actor going, ‘I wish I was him’ or ‘I wish I had what he had.’

“When I reach out to people, it’s not because I’m trying to get a gig. It’s because I feel like being appreciated for what you do as an artist from somebody else is a nice feeling. If there’s somebody that I admire that comes up and says, ‘Hey, I really like that’ or ‘You did a good job,’ it feels good.”

He also criticized the film industry, saying much of it is “hierarchical bulls—” that causes people within the industry to have “this underlying feeling that we need to be competing with each other.”

“So, wherever I can feel like I’m a member of a community that is supporting each other in creating these things that I think are super important, I want to do that,” Bacon emphasized.

MLB rookie phenom makes history with another dominant outing

Paul Skenes is living up to the hype.

In fact, he’s blowing right by it.

The LSU product was taken by the Pittsburgh Pirates with the No. 1 overall selection in last year’s MLB Draft, and after dominating the minor leagues, they called him up earlier this season.

By the time he got the call, Skenes was the top pitching prospect in baseball and ranked third overall.

Now, he’s one of the best pitchers in the game.

Entering Friday night, the 22-year-old had a 2.06 ERA through nine MLB starts, allowing three runs or less in each of them. His only game allowing three earned runs was in his MLB debut.

He consistently hits 100 mph on the radar gun with devastating off-speed pitches, which has made him a strikeout machine.

Friday marked his 10th major league start, and the ninth in which he recorded at least seven strikeouts, setting the Major League record for the most in a player’s first 10 games to start a career – he struck out eight New York Mets in seven innings of two-run ball.

The only time he didn’t strike out that many batters was on May 23, his third start, when he had just three punchouts against the San Francisco Giants.

YANKEES ANNOUNCER LAMBASTES TEAM’S NATIONAL ANTHEM STANDOFF: ‘SOPHOMORIC NONSENSE’

Since then, it’s been seven straight outings with seven or more strikeouts, which also set a franchise record dating back to 1882.

His career-high in strikeouts so far is 11, which he did in his second start against the Chicago Cubs.

He and fellow rookie Jared Jones have helped the Pirates remain in the wild-card race. They entered the night four games out, but it looks like they found themselves an ace for years to come.

Residents stunned as wonky clock hands melt in recent hot weather

The summer heat is causing more things to melt than just kids’ ice cream cones.

Check out these “wonky” clock hands.

Residents of Keynsham, Somerset, were left stunned after one of the faces of the town’s central clock tower appeared to have “melted.”

FISHERMAN DISCOVERS MAMMOTH BONE, ‘THICK AS A HUMAN LEG,’ DATING BACK TO THE ICE AGE

Many of the townsfolk compared the odd face to Salvador Dali’s famous painting “The Persistence of Memory,” SWNS reported.

The clock tower in Keynsham was commissioned in April 2015 by Bath And North East Somerset (BANES) as “part of the civic center redevelopment.”

While the clock tower is only nine years old, the striking appearance is a new look for one of the clock tower’s faces.

The Keynsham Clock is made up of three sides, with three clock faces.

SHOCKING PHOTOS SHOW 18TH CENTURY FARMHOUSE HANGING DANGEROUSLY OVER EDGE OF CLIFF

One of the clock hands seems to have remained fully attached — while another appears to have loosened from its casing, as SWNS noted.

Time will tell

Residents are coming up with different theories as they try to figure out how this could have happened.

One potential theory is that the black band at the top of the clock tower broke off and fell into the middle of two hands, causing it to break even further, SWNS shared.

While the source of the problem has yet to be determined, another theory continues to circulate.

There is speculation that the recent hot weather in the southwest English town caused the hands to melt.
