Around 30 injured, including police officers, when music festival ride bursts into flames
A Ferris wheel at a festival near Leipzig, Germany, caught fire Saturday evening, leading to multiple injuries, according to reports.
More than two dozen people were injured in the fire, two seriously, the European country’s taxpayer-funded broadcaster, DW, reported, citing police and the German Red Cross.
Most of the injuries involved mild smoke inhalation, according to DW, and four police officers were among the injured.
Four people also had burns, and one person was hurt in a fall, France’s AFP news agency said.

“Those affected are receiving treatment and are doing well considering the circumstances,” the Highfield music festival said in a statement, according to Britain’s Sky News. “We are in close coordination with the fire brigade, the police and the rescue and medical services.”
Photos and videos showed flames rising and smoke billowing from two of the Ferris wheel’s cars.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.

German rapper Ski Aggu, who was performing when the fire broke out, took to his Instagram story to say he was shocked and dismayed about the fire, adding he hoped everyone affected would be better soon.
“For me, the priority was that the situation did not escalate further, which fortunately also worked,” he wrote in German. “Thank you for staying so calm and possibly preventing worse.”

Around 18 of the victims were taken to a hospital, Sky News reported, adding that performances continued about an hour after the fire started with the Ferris wheel remaining closed.
Michael Moore’s stark warning to Democrats on election momentum
It’s the Democrats’ race to lose.
That’s the view of liberal activist and filmmaker Michael Moore who has warned Democrats not to fumble their chances of beating former President Trump in November’s presidential election now that Vice President Kamala Harris heads the ticket.
The outspoken and influential Moore told the Guardian that the party is riding on a wave of optimism following President Biden’s decision to bow out of the race after succumbing to unwavering pressure from powerful left-wing voices, including Moore.
“This isn’t just a sugar-high or what [recovering] heroin addicts call a pink cloud,” Moore told the U.K. publication. “It was so depressing for so many weeks and then it was instantly not depressing. I am hopeful now but it’s ours to blow – and we have a history of blowing it.”
MICHAEL MOORE WARNS KAMALA HARRIS TO NOT GO ‘CENTRIST’
Moore has been here before. He warned Democrats of Trump beating Hillary Clinton in his 2016 movie “in Trumpland” where he said Trump’s message appealed to disenfranchised voters in Michigan and other battleground states.
In 2020, he took to X and said that enthusiasm for Trump was “off the charts” and pleaded with Democrats to come together to defeat the incumbent.
Moore says he’s happy Harris chose Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate and that he’s confident Harris can inflict serious damage on Trump when they debate next month.
“Once anybody gets under that thin skin anything can happen,” Moore says. “On live TV? Trump could explode, start talking like a 12-year-old, though no offense to 12-year-olds, or get up and leave.”
‘I understand why people are nervous it might be a sugar high but Harris and Walz are people of substance. They’re being slow and cautious enough to get it together. It’s just been a couple of weeks. They are going to have to tell us what they’re going to do and hopefully come up with the right thing. And there will be mistakes.”
MICHAEL MOORE SAYS CONTINUING TO PUSH FOR BIDEN AFTER THE DEBATE IS A FORM OF ‘ELDER ABUSE’
Moore hailed Harris’ decision not to attend Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to congress last month, signaling a change of direction while urging her to cater to the party’s anti-Israel base.
“Young people hate war and they’re totally against Biden and his support of the war.”
He says Harris needs to tap into “affordable housing, student debt, peace and the dying planet.”
Moore says the way to beat Trump is to continue doing “weird and cringe until the debate and then nail him.”
“But nail him with irony, satire and a simple way to point out the beyond weird absolute idiocy and insanity of what these two men are talking about. Reach them on a commonsense level so it doesn’t matter if you’re Democrat or Republican.”
Democrats have been labeling the Trump-Vance ticket as “weird” as part of a new line of criticism, while the Harris-Walz campaign have been criticized for their cringeworthy and scripted online videos.

Last month, Moore joined many on the Left in calling for Biden to drop out of the race and allow Vice President Kamala Harris to take his place.
“May I ask you, Mr. President, for one more brave and bold action?” Moore wrote in a Substack article days before Biden withdrew. Weeks earlier, he accused the Democratic Party of committing “elder abuse” by continuing to push President Biden to stay in the race.
“She will have three and a half months (as they say, ‘an eternity in politics’) to show the American people her smarts, her strengths, her heart,” he continued. “She is fierce, and compassionate, and unstoppable. She will have the power to issue significant executive orders that can provide help to the middle class, protect the environment, restore basic women’s rights.”
Simone Biles catches heat after outfit choice goes viral at husband’s preseason game
Simone Biles showed up to the Chicago Bears’ preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals Saturday to support her husband, Jonathan Owens, after the NFL safety was excused from training camp this month to watch the American gymnast compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
But Biles appeared to receive some backlash on social media for her outfit choice.
Fresh off of winning three gold medals in Paris, Biles was pictured on the sidelines at Soldier Field wearing a jacket dedicated to Owens.

The only problem was the jacket depicted Owens during his time with the Green Bay Packers.
“Simone Biles on the sideline for The Bears game today…in a Packers jacket,” The Athletic’s Chase Daniel said in a post on X showing Biles’ look.
“With all due respect, Simone Biles gotta throw that jacket in the trash ASAP,” another user wrote on social media. “How did she get in with that?”
SIMONE BILES’ NFL HUSBAND JONATHAN OWENS, SAYS HIS WIFE IS ‘THE S—‘
“Simone Biles should be stripped of all her medals after wearing Packers gear while cheering for the Bears,” another wrote. “Yeah yeah I get it, her husband played for the Packers and it’s an Owens themed jacket, but this is just wrong.”
Owens signed a two-year contract with the Bears in March after spending one season with the Packers. He returned to training camp after the Bears’ 21-17 win over the Houston Texans in the Hall of Fame game.

In addition to wearing a division rival’s jacket, Biles was also spotted wearing a boot on Saturday.
She injured a calf during the Olympics, but she previously told NBC Sports she was wearing it as a “precautionary” measure.
Controversial Washington Post columnist admits her post that sparked investigation is real
Washington Post columnist Taylor Lorenz is changing her story after initially claiming her “war criminal” post about President Biden was edited.
Lorenz went viral on Thursday after a screenshot of an Instagram post obtained by New York Post reporter Jon Levine showed her taking a selfie at a White House event with Biden in the background with the caption that read “war criminal” along with a frowny face.
“You people will fall for any dumba– edit someone makes,” Lorenz replied to Levine on X.
On Friday, Lorenz not only admitted it was real, she insisted it was a joke.
WASHINGTON POST LOOKING INTO ALLEGATIONS TAYLOR LORENZ PUBLISHED INSTAGRAM POST CALLING BIDEN A ‘WAR CRIMINAL’
“I literally never ‘denied it was real,'” Lorenz told one critic on X. She told another that it was an “obvious meme.”
There had been speculation online that Lorenz was making an obscure reference to musician Lucy Dacus, who called former President Obama a “war criminal” on social media last year, also with a frowny face.
WAPO REPORTER SUGGESTS WHITE HOUSE CENSOR ‘MISINFORMATION’ FROM TRUMP-MUSK INTERVIEW DURING PRESS BRIEFING
Fox News Digital learned that the post was made in an Instagram story specifically using the “close friends” feature as indicated by the green star icon, meaning it was not posted publicly and could only have been seen by a select group of Instagram users of her choosing.
NPR previously reported that “four people with direct knowledge” of the post “confirmed its authenticity.”
“Only about 7 people saw the actual close friends post (I have very few people on CF) and almost all are my normie non-media friends. So [I don’t know] who this guy is talking about [to be honest],” Lorenz reacted to NPR’s reporting.

A spokesperson for The Washington Post previously told Fox News Digital, “We’re aware of the alleged social media post and are looking into it” and has not commented further.
Lorenz did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
Biden has been repeatedly attacked by the far-left for his handling of the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, with many deriding him as “Genocide Joe” for continuing to provide military aid to the Jewish State following the Oct. 7 terrorist attack. Lorenz, known for her far-left opinions, is a fierce critic of Israel.
Lorenz has a long history of sparking controversy on social media, as well as in her reporting tactics.
Serial killer on death row drops bombshell, bringing closure to nearly 40-year mystery
A serial killer convicted of the murders of 12 women has confessed to the cold case murder of a 19-year-old mother in Southern California in 1986.
Cathy Small, 19, was found stabbed to death on a street in South Pasadena in February 1986, but her case went unsolved for nearly four decades.
“We believe we’re bringing a sense of long overdue justice and closure to the victim and her family,” Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said in a press conference this week.
William Lester Suff, known as the “Lake Elsinore Killer” and the “Riverside Prostitute Killer” admitted in 2022 to murdering Small after his DNA was found on her clothing, saying she “enraged” him by knocking his glasses off his face during a fight, Lt. Patricia Thomas said during Tuesday’s briefing.
SUSPECT, 78, CHARGED IN 44-YEAR-OLD COLD CASE KIDNAPPING, MURDER OF NURSING STUDENT
Suff told investigators Small had first met him at a computer repair shop where he worked and agreed to drive with him from Lake Elsinore in South Pasadena for $50.
After he stabbed her repeatedly in the passenger seat of his car, he admitted to tossing her body on the sidewalk and driving away, Thomas said.
Suff, who is on death row at San Quentin in California, also admitted to other unsolved cold case murders in Riverside County, Thomas said, but didn’t identify the victims.
Investigators realized DNA collected from the crime hadn’t been tested, and, when it was, Suff’s DNA was found on her clothing.
Suff began killing in the 1970s and was convicted in the death of his 2-month-old daughter in Texas in 1974 and sentenced to 70 years, but he was paroled in 1984 and moved back to California.
Luna said Suff’s confession underscores “the power of modern forensic science; two, the amazing, relentless work by our Los Angeles homicide bureau detectives, which I keep on saying are the best in the country at what they do; and then the collaboration and partnership between agencies.
AUTHORITIES SEEK PUBLIC’S HELP IDENTIFYING SUSPECTED TEXAS SERIAL KILLER AFTER DNA LINKS PERSON TO 2 MURDERS
“Amongst everything else we’re talking about today, you always got to remember when we’re talking about something as significant as this, we’re talking about a victim who lost her life and the family who will never forget that. And I know we never forget that, and that’s what makes the teamwork here so amazing.”
Thomas also read a letter written by Small’s younger sister, who was 10 at the time of her murder but couldn’t be at the news conference because she lives out of state.
“My sister Cathy Small was not a statistic,” she wrote. “She was a protective big sister, a loving mother and a good daughter. Cathy was funny, smart and caring. She had a big heart and would do anything for anyone.”
Small’s sister said the 19-year-old taught her how to swim, ride a bike and play cards.
“Whenever I stayed with my big sister, she took me to church,” she continued. “Cathy was talented, but her life was cut short before she could even begin to make her own dreams come true.”
She added that Small, who was working as a sex worker at the time of her murder, was trying to get sober and had stopped using drugs, “but before she could take another step forward her life was ended.”

She added that she is “forever indebted” to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department “for making sure the memory of my sister Cathy Small stayed alive despite her senseless murder more than 35 years ago in February of 1986. The man who murdered my sister also destroyed me, my family and the families of others. … I will always miss my sister Cathy.
“Nothing will bring her back. Bill Suff is where he’s supposed to be, and he can no longer hurt anyone. Thank you for remembering my sister Cathy.”
Trump fires up battleground state with attack on VP Harris’ handout-filled plan
Former President Trump took a swing at Vice President Harris’s recently debuted economic plan, saying the Democratic presidential nominee had gone “full communist.”
“In her speech yesterday, Kamala went full communist. You heard that? She went full communist,” Trump told supporters during a spirited swing-state rally Saturday at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre Township, Pennsylvania.
Calling her “Comrade Kamala,” the Republican presidential nominee blasted her “socialist price controls.”
“Comrade Kamala announced that she wants to institute socialist price controls. You saw that? Never worked before,” he said. “This is the [President Nicolás] Maduro plan in Venezuela [of government price controls], the Maduro plan of the old Soviet Union.
“They tried it there,” he said. “And how did the Soviet Union turn out?”
TRUMP ACCUSES HARRIS OF ‘SOVIET STYLE’ POLICIES FOLLOWING PRICE CONTROL PROPOSAL
Trump said Harris’ plan for federal price controls, which her campaign packaged as a solution to “price gouging,” “excessive prices” and “excessive corporate profits,” will lead to rationing and skyrocketing prices.
TRUMP ACCUSES HARRIS OF ‘SOVIET STYLE’ POLICIES FOLLOWING PRICE CONTROL PROPOSAL
“It will cause rationing, hunger and skyrocketing prices,” Trump said. “Just like [the Biden-Harris administration’s] Inflation Reduction Act, which is one of the great scams of all time. Inflation has been so bad, it’s gone up much more than 50%. They say 30%, 40% — many more people are being devastated.”
On Wednesday, Harris announced that, as president, she would institute a federal price-fixing plan “on food and groceries” in an attempt to stop “big corporations” from taking advantage of consumers.
Harris has framed her economic road map, dubbed “Kamalanomics” by social media pundits, as an “opportunity economy” plan. Her price control plan includes expanded down payment assistance for first-time homebuyers and a $6,000 child tax credit for first-time parents.
Trump said Harris’ economic policy will not work, saying that similar price fixing has been tried — unsuccessfully — by other countries throughout history.
“The things that she said yesterday don’t work. They have never worked,” he said. “They’ve been used by many countries, and in every single event, it ruined those countries.”
RUBBER-STAMPED’: KEY DEM HIT OVER BIDEN-HARRIS SUPPORT ON BORDER, INFLATION
He said Harris is promising “things she can’t deliver.”
“It’s a communist system. … She’s promising to hand out things she can’t deliver. She’ll never get them approved,” he said. “Just like when she and Crooked Joe tried to give away student debt. How did that work out? Not too good.”
Trump turned his attention to young voters who looked favorably at Biden’s promise to eliminate student debt, saying a communist takeover may sound good politically but is “very dangerous.”

“The students are saying, ‘I love him because of student debt,’ but he got rejected,” Trump said. “Her plan is very dangerous because it may sound good politically, and that’s the problem. … This is Marxist, this is fascist.”
Jenny McCarthy posts steamy photos to celebrate husband Donnie Wahlberg’s birthday
Jenny McCarthy showed off husband Donnie Wahlberg’s fit physique as she shared a birthday tribute to the “Blue Bloods” actor Saturday.
The 51-year-old TV personality marked Wahlberg’s 55th birthday Saturday on Instagram by posting a photo and video compilation of the New Kids On The Block singer performing.
The clip opens with a snap of Wahlberg pulling up his shirt to expose his chest and abs and other shirtless photos of McCartney’s spouse taken during the boy band’s concerts. The “Scary Movie 3” star gushed over Wahlberg in a voiceover that played during the video.
“Happy birthday to the most incredible man who brings so much joy and so much light to the world and not to mention hot,” she said. “Gorgeous. Watching you on stage, seeing the way you touch people’s hearts.

In the video, the words “My Leo on His Birthday” appeared across the photo of Wahlberg showing off his torso.
After a series of snaps and videos from Wahlberg’s concert, the clip concluded with a photo of the actor with his arms outstretched as the message “Happy Birthday to the love of my life” appeared.
Walhberg posted a response to his wife’s post in the comments section, writing, “I couldn’t love you any more — but somehow I love you more every single day.

“Thank you my queen. I love you,” he added with a red heart emoji.
McCarthy and Wahlberg began dating in 2013 and tied the knot Aug. 31, 2014.
In July, McCarthy revealed she and Wahlberg have renewed their vows 10 times.
While appearing on the “Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa” podcast, McCarthy opened up about their annual vow renewal tradition.
“I used to make fun of celebrities when they would do it or people in general when they renew their vows,” “The Masked Singer” judge admitted. “I’m like, ‘That’s so corny and weird. Your wedding’s over. Just stay married.’ And then Donnie — this is a tradition Donnie wanted to implement.
“He’s like, ‘I want to remind each other of our vows’ and talk about — like our pastor reminisces about the year and gives us a thing to think about as the year goes on.

“So, there is something nice about it.”
The former “Singled Out” co-host went on to say she and Wahlberg “are so intensely in love.”
“We [are] mad about each other,” she added.
“If I were to read our texts today, like let me just back up,” McCarthy added. “This is what I got this morning. ‘The man, he loves you. You inspire him, you help him. He doesn’t know how, but you make him better.’ Sometimes we’ll do the third person for fun.
“And then I wrote back. I said, ‘Oh, I love you so much. Thank you for the sweet words. I just adore you. We really won the lotto with each other.’
“He said, ‘We did,’ and that’s just this morning.”

From 2004 until 2019, the responsibility to enforce law and order in San Francisco fell to District Attorney Kamala Harris and her protégé George Gascon. The result? By any estimation, it has been an ignominious disaster.
Even as you drive from the airport to downtown in this once great city, the sight that greets you off the highway is streets with empty storefronts — like broken teeth, jagged and sad.
In the Tenderloin District it gets worse, far worse, and it isn’t getting any better, in fact, much the opposite. The last time I was in the City by the Bay was in 2021, and I struggled then to describe the craven brutality of the homelessness and drug addiction. Let me try again.
SAN FRANCISCO POLICE OFFICERS FORCED TO WORK OVERTIME DUE TO STAFF SHORTAGE: REPORT
Just off Union Square, I wandered down to the nice coffee house where I spent my mornings three years ago. It’s gone now. Boarded up. Out in front, addicts assembled under the amused eyes of security guards who seem to think this is normal.
Just up the block, the smell hit me first. It didn’t last time, but now, a fetid stench of human degradation that New Yorkers know only from an unfortunate subway car choice, simply hangs in the air. You can’t even smell the weed.
Dogs abound, barking in the midst of this misery. At least they know something is amiss. In tents, the poor forgotten of this city languish, selling drugs, not joints, not a bag of weed, but life-threatening heroin and fentanyl right out in the open.
The scale of human tragedy is laid bare by the proximity of wealth to squalor, of healthy and beautiful minds and bodies to squandered lives doped out and laid out beneath signs for Saks Fifth Avenue and Tiffany & Co.
HARRIS DOES ABOUT-FACE ON SEVERAL FAR-LEFT POLICIES, DISTANCES HERSELF FROM BIDEN
The well-heeled set headed for the Apple Store seem to pretend it isn’t happening. But to an outsider, it is as clear as the summer sun.
You can’t buy beef jerky here. You can try, but at the Walgreens near my upscale hotel, the dehydrated travelers treat is behind lock and key. The customer service button might as well be connected to some remote outpost in Antarctica. After 5 minutes you just leave.
During COVID, I used the analogy of pointillist painting to describe the ever-encroaching rules. It’s just a mask, it’s just six feet, it’s just remote learning, each was a point on a canvas, but when you stepped back, you saw a picture of a prison. So, too, in San Francisco, the little horrors add up to a city of nightmares.
Anyone from any city in the northeast of our great country will say after five minutes that San Francisco is a dystopian disaster, but many of the people here, like frogs slowly boiling, think it’s normal. Is this what Vice President Kamala Harris, one of the architects of this misery, has in mind for all of us?
Next week, at her convention, the hand-picked Democratic nominee — whom nobody voted for — will try to convince us that her record of failure is not her record of failure. But the chaotic streets of San Francisco tell a different story.
CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION
This is real. It is horrible. And no amount of well-off liberals posting photos next to the Golden Gate Bridge can truly hide the depravity of it all. And yeah, maybe the cops and the spaghetti strainer of a District Attorney’s office wrought by Harris keep their wealthy enclaves safe, but everyone else is in dire straits.
No matter how big your britches get, you can’t hide from your hometown. There, people know you, they know your story, and the story of Kamala Harris and San Francisco is a warning bell that America needs to hear.
Not far from the Tenderloin I found a curious object; one of the finest street clocks in all America. At one point, it was insured by Lloyd’s of London. You can view its gears and workings. It is a beautiful clock, reminiscent of the one that graces New York’s Grand Central. It also doesn’t work.

The face of this storied clock is set to the advertiser’s time of 10:10, and twice a day it is right as the saying goes. But why is it broken? How much would it cost to make this piece of history tick again? Why isn’t anyone doing it?
These are all questions for the presumptive Democratic nominee, who takes no questions. But she cannot hide from San Francisco. This is her legacy. And like the broken clock, it just flat out doesn’t work.
