CNN political analyst and Axios national political reporter Alex Thompson said Monday that while Vice President Harris was “definitely” going to sit for an interview, she was being cautious because a lot of her “worst moments” in the Biden administration came during live interviews. 

“The question is, who is it with? Is it with a much more friendly host? Is it with a more serious, like a serious in-depth interview, how long is it, is it edited, is it live? Like all of these questions are part of Harris’ caution, extraordinary caution when it comes to interviews is why some Democrats were nervous about making her the nominee. It’s why people like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer were more in favor of an open process because the fact is that almost all of her worst moments as vice president have come in live interviews,” Thompson said.

Harris has gone 36 days without doing an interview with the media or a formal press conference since she emerged as the presumptive Democratic nominee at the end of July.

Matt Gorman, a former adviser on Sen. Tim Scott’s presidential campaign, said Harris needed to do an interview, but that he understood why she was hesitant. 

“The other side of this is that, look I‘ve seen this with candidate after candidate, debate prep is also media prep. Media prep is debate prep. You hear the lines, you can refine your arguments, you get better. Every candidate I‘ve ever worked with gets better the more they do interviews, because they get sharper and they know what really, outside of the bubble, what the people are going to attack them on or question them on,” Gorman said. 

Meghan Hays, who worked in the Biden White House, said she didn’t think Harris had to sit for interviews, but said she needed to start doing debate prep. 

“I think it’s a media story, right? And I think that if you don’t take control of it, it will just continue to snowball in the media, and then it becomes more of a high-stakes thing than if you just did the interview. So where now she’s passed the convention, she has the momentum, they’ve raised a ton of money. I think she should probably sit down for an interview,” she said.

Hays suggested starting with a morning show or a “softer” interview and suggested they build from there. She reiterated that she didn’t think Harris needed to give an interview leading up to the convention because of the positive momentum she had.

Harris recently declined an interview with TIME magazine, who gave the vice president a glowing cover story.

Thompson said that the stakes for Harris doing an interview were now much higher. 

“Any one mistake she’s going to make is going to immediately get seized upon by Trump and his campaign,” he added. 

The attorney of one of the illegal migrant suspects charged in the murder of Texas 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray has filed for a protective order to ensure that the negative media attention the case has received will not prevent him from his right to fair trial.

Two Venezuelan nationals – 21-year-old Johan Jose Martinez-Rangel and 26-year-old Franklin Jose Peña Ramos – have been charged with capital murder in the death of Nungaray after the 12-year-old was found strangled to death in a Houston creek on June 17.

The two men reportedly crossed illegally into the U.S. earlier this year.

Peña’s attorneys filed a protective order “preventing the parties to this cause, law enforcement officials, the Houston Forensic Science Center, or court personnel from making extrajudicial statements or otherwise disseminating information concerning this cause by any means of public communications.”

In the protective order filing, reviewed by Fox News Digital, the attorneys argued that media attention was “likely to produce a result of undue prejudice” during Peña’s trial.

“The additional extra-judicial statements to the news media are likely to produce a result of undue prejudice in the community to deprive the Defendant of a fair trial guaranteed by Article I of the Texas Constitution and the Sixth and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution,” the motion said.

The filing argued that Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg made “made numerous statements about the case that went beyond the statements of the prosecutor during the probable cause hearing.”

The documents cited Ogg saying: “[M]make no mistake, this is a horrific crime” and “the immigration system is broken.” Peña’s attorney argued that these statements would produce prejudice in his trial.

In the filing, Peña’s attorneys concluded their request by asking for all parties involved in the case to “refrain from making any further extrajudicial statements relating to this cause and to refrain from further dissemination of information, regardless of whether the information was previously disclosed to the public, concerning this cause by way of public communication, and for all other relief just and proper in the case.”

During Trump’s visit to the southern border on Aug. 22, Alexis Nungaray, the mother of the 12-year-old, spoke out about her daughter’s murder.

“It’s still very, very early. It’s still very, very raw. It’s still very, very surreal,” she said.

Alexis said Peña and Martinez “shouldn’t have been released” after they were first detained.

“There was over 300 detention beds that they should have been at (sic) because they were detained, and they were released when they shouldn’t have been released,” Alexis said. “One had an ankle monitor, but that didn’t stop anything.”

“So now I have to go through the rest of my life with my son always asking for his sister,” she said.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and Peña’s attorney for comment.

New Ring doorbell footage shows missing Massachusetts man Stanley Kotowski leaving his family’s Hilton Head, South Carolina, rental residence on the same day he disappeared. 

In the video released by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, Kotowski, 60, can be seen walking out the front door of the South Sea Pines Drive rental, barefoot, and out into the street on Aug. 16, the same day his family reported him missing.

Kotowski also appears to be confused in the video as he stops walking and looks around in the middle of the street before continuing on. He has not been seen since. 

“We continue to ask for the public’s help locating missing and endangered 60-year-old Stanley Kotowski,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post accompanying the new video. “He was last seen wearing a dark in color, possibly gray, Coors Light t-shirt, dark in color shorts, possibly dark blue or black, and no shoes.”

The Hilton Head community is holding an organized search for Kotowski on Monday at 1 p.m. in cooperation with the sheriff’s office.

His family is asking Hilton Head-area residents who may have seen Kotowski to contact authorities and look through their security camera footage for any potential sightings of the missing man. They are also asking home and business owners to check sheds, pools or other secluded areas for any signs of Kotowski.

The family added that the sheriff’s office has been very supportive and “are doing everything in their power to bring Stan home,” including conducting both land and water searches.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Coast Guard are involved in the search for Kotowski, his family said.

Kotowski is described as 6 feet tall, weighing about 200 pounds. He has a strong Boston accent and may have facial hair.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about Kotowski to contact the non-emergency dispatch line at 843-524-2777.

Sharing the story on social media, an individual has asked others for thoughts about an ongoing problem with a neighbor who continues to break the rules that were established by the management of an apartment building.

“AITA because I am intentionally not letting my neighbor in, causing her and her dog to sit outside in the dark?” wrote a Reddit user, “THROWRA1900482,” on the page known as “Am I the a–hole?”

The post has so far elicited some 7,500 reactions from others.

“She isn’t supposed to do this, and she has been told multiple times to take her front door key in case the door locks, which she has ignored.”

Continued the writer, “She has started treating me like a literal doorman, knocking loudly on my windows and repeatedly buzzing my apartment to try to get me to open the door for her. It is daily and it riles up my dog every time — and it always occurs after 9 p.m.”

“I shut off my buzzer, gave my dog a treat and closed the doors, deciding to ignore her and continue watching my movie instead.”

This is when things changed.

“This is where I could be [the a–hole],” the person wrote on Reddit.

“She has been [sitting] outside on the doorstep on her phone angrily ranting about me to her friends, like I’m her DAD,” the writer noted.

In an edit to his original post, the writer wrote, “I opened the door. I said I wouldn’t, but quite frankly, I literally couldn’t go to sleep knowing she and her dog were out there. I went downstairs and opened the door and told her that this was the last time and I will be reporting [her] to management and calling the police if she knocks on my windows anymore.”

He went on, “Sorry for everyone who told me not to give in, but it’s nearing midnight here and as much as she p—es me off, I’m not about to leave her out there.”

He also added, “I assume she buzzes everyone in the block, but the other tenants silence their buzzers or ignore them. She only knocks on my windows because I am the only apartment that is [on the] ground floor.”

Jacqueline Whitmore, an etiquette expert based in Florida, told Fox News Digital on Monday morning about the situation, “I can see opening the gate once, maybe twice, for a neighbor if she forgets her key — but this seems to be a common occurrence.”

She added, “Everyone else is aware of the rules, so why isn’t she following them? We may never know.”

Whitmore also said that this “may not be an etiquette issue as much as a safety issue, but if this disruptive tenant ‘has been told multiple times to take her front door key,’ and she continues to ignore these instructions, it’s no one’s fault if she’s locked out. The polite thing to do is not disrupt your neighbors and start carrying your own key.”

Among the comments posted on Reddit about the drama: “Report her to management every single time. It may take awhile, but she will either stop or get kicked out,” one person wrote about the situation in the top “upvoted” comment.

This poster added, “They [the management] have liability… If they don’t seem to take this seriously, tell them.”

Another person wrote, “Some people feel entitled to everything and think everyone else lives to [do] them favors (and they don’t even see those as favors).”

“She needs to learn one way or another that people are not there to serve her purposes and comfort.”

This same commenter added, “You did everything right and in a civil way before taking action. You helped her even when she was being rude and an inconvenience. You talked to her about it and warned her that you wouldn’t be opening for her again.”

The person went on, “And yet she decided to do it again. How come you are in the wrong for not answering, but she is just fine by knocking on your door during the evening multiple times and on purpose?”

Added this same person, “I do feel the consequences are a bit harsh, but that’s on her. She was getting used to using you for her convenience only.”

“She needs to learn one way or another that people are not there to serve her purposes and comfort — and having someone help you when you are in need is different than taking advantage.”

Others also had no patience for the woman’s behavior.

A brawl broke out during a women’s college soccer game between Rutgers and UMass on Sunday that saw multiple punches thrown after a whistle had blown for a foul. 

Rutgers senior Gia Girman and UMass senior Ashley Lamond were the two parties involved in the fight, when teammates had to ultimately step in to stop punches being thrown on the pitch in Amhert, Massachusetts. 

The altercation began when Girman committed a foul from behind on a different UMass player in the 55th minute of the match, when both players hit the turf.

Lamond came over to pick up the ball, which was at Girman’s feet, and the Scarlet Knights player clearly took exception to it. 

They started to push and shove each other until Girman threw the first punch. Then, things turned ugly as her hair was pulled, and Lamond was seen wrestling Girman to the ground.

After teammates were able to pull the players apart, the referee did what everyone on the pitch and watching were expecting, as he pulled out red cards for both of them to be ejected from the game.

Four yellow cards were issued in the final 35 minutes of the match, two a side. Ultimately, the Minutewomen were crowned victors in this one, defeating the Scarlet Knights, 1-0. 

This was the third contest of the new season for Rutgers, who previously defeated NJIT in their season opener, 1-0, on Aug. 15, and had a draw against Wake Forest, 1-1, on Aug. 18.

UMass, on the other hand, collected its first win of the season against Rutgers after losing to Syracuse, 2-0, and Army, 3-2, in previous matches. 

A Tennessee mom says she doesn’t want to volunteer in her kids’ classrooms or for their extracurricular activities — and said she’s “found her community” after posting a video on TikTok explaining that she’s a proud “Venmo mom.”

“I don’t know about anyone else out there, but ‘Meet the Teacher’ is super stressful because I do not want to be involved at all,” Casey Neal, 31 and a mother of four, said in her video that has grabbed at least 450,000 views. 

“I will make sure my kids obviously do their homework and get to school on time … but I don’t want to be on PTO, PTA, room mom, team mom — I don’t want to do any of that.”

But she’s more than happy to Venmo money to help with whatever is needed, she said.

Neal and her husband have four kids — ages 11, 7, 5 and 3 — who are involved in all kinds of activities, such as cheerleading, baseball, football and more.

Neal, who worked as a district manager and ran five stores for Andy’s Frozen Custard until moving to Knoxville this year, said her job made it difficult for her to attend school functions during the work day. 

And that didn’t seem to sit well with some people.

“When I wasn’t as involved as the other moms, I didn’t feel very welcome in certain situations,” Neal told Fox News Digital.

Neal said she also had a bad experience with some cheer moms a couple of years ago. 

“Their practices are two to three hours long,” Neal said.

“So I just come back and pick up [her daughter] when practice is over. There was a mom who was talking very poorly of me, and this is one of the practices I happened to go to. When she realized I was there, her face dropped. There was even a dad there who was, like, ‘Not cool.’”

Said Neal, “I don’t need that drama in my life or in my kids’ life.”

“We’re here to set examples, and if they’re talking poorly in front of all the parents, I’m sure some kids heard some stuff. I just don’t think that’s necessary.”

That’s when Neal realized she could avoid all the trouble and still help out by donating her money rather than her time.

Neal said her kids love seeing her in the stands and they know she’s there to support them in all their activities.

“I love being on the sidelines. That, for me, is the biggest thing,” said Neal.
