Clooney links Biden to historic figure in American history after forcing him out
Actor George Clooney praised President Biden’s decision to leave the 2024 race as “the most selfless thing that anyone’s done since George Washington” on Sunday.
In July, Clooney famously penned a New York Times guest essay headlined, “I Love Joe Biden. But We Need a New Nominee,” which admitted Biden had declined and insisting the Democratic Party needed a new candidate to defeat former President Trump. Biden eventually obliged, and Clooney couldn’t be happier.
“The person who should be applauded is the president who did the most selfless thing that anyone’s done since George Washington,” Clooney told reporters when asked about the easy, according to the Washington Post.
GEORGE CLOONEY URGES BIDEN TO STEP ASIDE OR HE’LL LOSE, SAYS HE’S CLEARLY DECLINED
“What should be remembered is the selfless act of someone who — you know, it’s very hard to let go of power. We know that. We’ve seen it all around the world,” Clooney continued. “And for someone to say, ‘I think there’s a better way forward.’ All the credit goes to him … And all the rest of it will be long gone and forgotten.”
Clooney, who spoke to the press at the Venice Film Festival where his new film “Wolfs” premiered on Sunday night, did not mention Vice President Kamala Harris during his remarks, according to the Post.
“I’m just very proud of where we are in the state of the world, which many people are surprised by, and I think we’re all very excited for the future,” Clooney told the media outlet.
Clooney’s call for Biden to step aside “was seen as a major influence on the president leaving the race,” the Post reported. It was published on the heels of Biden’s disastrous presidential debate that forced a variety of his allies to publicly call for a new candidate.

“It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe ‘big F-ing deal’ Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate,” Clooney wrote.
“Was he tired? Yes. A cold? Maybe. But our party leaders need to stop telling us that 51 million people didn’t see what we just saw. We’re all so terrified by the prospect of a second Trump term that we’ve opted to ignore every warning sign,” he added. “”This is about age. Nothing more. But also nothing that can be reversed. We are not going to win in November with this president.”

Biden criticizes Netanyahu when asked about making a deal with ‘satan’
President Biden claimed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not doing enough to secure a hostage deal with Hamas terrorists.
Biden made the remarks to reporters before heading into the Situation Room, where he and Vice President Harris are convening with a hostage deal negotiating team following the murder of 23-year-old Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin and five other hostages by Hamas on Saturday.
On the South Lawn of the White House, where Biden disembarked from Marine One upon returning from his vacation home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, one reporter asked, “Mr. President, do you think it’s time for Prime Minister Netanyahu to do more on this issue? Do you think he is doing enough?
“No,” the president responded flatly.
FATHER OF ISRAELI-AMERICAN HOSTAGE PLEADS FOR DEAL ‘WITH SATAN’ BEFORE BIDEN, HARRIS ENTER SITUATION ROOM
Asked what makes him think this deal will be successful in a way that the other proposals were not, Biden said, “Hope springs eternal.” The president said “we’re very close” to being able to present a final hostage deal. He told reporters he was headed into a national security meeting and would be going to Pittsburgh later in the day.
“Yes. I have spoken to the American hostage … I spoke to his mom and dad, and we are not giving up. We are going to continue to push as hard as we can. Thank you,” Biden said.
Earlier Monday, Jonathan Dekel-Chen, the father of an Israeli-American hostage still being held by Hamas, pleaded for the U.S. and Israel to broker a deal “with Satan.”

Dekel-Chen, appearing on “Fox & Friends,” acknowledged that the United States together with Qatar and Egypt are trying to broker an agreement between Israel and “a savage terrorist organization,” but insisted that Israeli intelligence shows Hamas’ forces are depleted at this stage.

He said Netanyahu cannot offer “an excuse anymore to not complete this deal” to bring the remaining 101 hostages, including seven Americans, taken into Gaza on Oct. 7, 2023, home.

NASA astronaut stranded in space contacts Mission Control with ‘strange’ report
A NASA astronaut at the International Space Station (ISS) on Saturday reported hearing a “strange noise” coming from the Boeing Starliner spacecraft just days before it is set to leave the station and return to Earth on autopilot.
The astronaut, Butch Wilmore, radioed Mission Control at Johnson Space Center in Houston to inquire about the noise.
On an audio recording of the exchange, Wilmore holds up a phone to the speakers so that Mission Control could hear the noise he was referring to. A pulsating sound emanating at steady intervals can be heard through Wilmore’s device.
“Butch, that one came through,” Mission Control says after not hearing it the first time. “It was kind of like a pulsating noise, almost like a sonar ping.”
NASA PLANS TO SEND 2 ASTRONAUTS INSTEAD OF 3 TO ISS SO PAIR STRANDED BY TROUBLED BOEING STARLINER CAN RETURN
“I’ll do it one more time and let you all scratch your heads and see if you can figure out what’s going on,” Wilmore tells Mission Control, playing the sound one more time.
Mission Control tells Wilmore the recording will be passed along and that they’ll let him know what they find.
Wilmore clarifies that the sound is emanating from the speaker inside the Starliner.
The bizarre sound was first reported by Ars Technica, which cited a recording first captured and shared by Michigan-based meteorologist Rob Dale.
Fox News Digital has reached out to Mission Control and Boeing to inquire if the source of the sound has been identified.
Starliner is slated to undock from the ISS, empty, and attempt to return on autopilot with a touchdown in the New Mexico desert.
NASA decided it was too risky to bring back Wilmore and Suni Williams until February. The astronauts were originally slated for a weeklong trip in early June, but the mission has been mired in problems after thruster failures and helium leaks.

Boeing had counted on Starliner’s first crew trip to revive the troubled spacecraft program after years of delays and ballooning costs. The company had insisted Starliner was safe based on all the recent thruster tests in both space and on the ground.
Major recall impacting thousands of drivers could cause ‘catastrophic’ failure
A recall of roughly 90,700 Ford and Lincoln vehicles is underway.
The Michigan-based automaker said in a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall report that the recall was prompted by the risk that the engines in the affected 2021-2022 Ford Bronco, Ford Edge, Ford Explorer, Ford F-150, Lincoln Aviator and Lincoln Nautilus vehicles “may contain intake valves that have a propensity to crack and break.”
All the 90,700 recalled SUVs and pickup trucks feature a 2.7-liter or 3-liter Nano EcoBoost Engine, according to the recall report.
Ford notified NHTSA of the recall on Aug. 23.

“An engine intake valve that fails may lead to catastrophic engine damage resulting in a loss of motive power,” Ford said in the recall report. “A loss of motive power can increase the risk of a crash.”

The problem with the engine intake valve is most likely to appear early in the vehicle’s life if the component is susceptible to cracking, Ford told FOX Business.
The issue has not caused any accidents or injuries to date, according to documents Ford filed with the NHTSA.
“Our goal is to prevent quality issues from happening in the first place,” Ford said in a statement to FOX Business. “When they do occur, our focus is on responding quickly with a recall or service action to prevent our customers from experiencing issues with the least inconvenience possible. We are proud that our launch quality has reached best-in-class levels, and our long-term quality is showing improvement.”
Dealers will install a new engine in recalled vehicles that do not pass an engine cycle test for free. When getting their vehicles fixed, impacted customers will have access to Ford’s pick-up, delivery and rental services, according to the company.
The automaker will tell owners of affected Ford and Lincoln vehicles about the recall in early October using letters, according to the NHTSA recall report.

“Owners who have paid to have these repairs completed at their own expense may be eligible for reimbursement, in accordance with the recall reimbursement plan on file with the NHTSA,” Ford said.

Tennis star slammed for humiliating US Open ball girl in awkward interaction
Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva was forced to issue a public apology following her third round loss to Jasmine Paolini after she was slammed on social media for a disrespectful interaction with a U.S. Open ball girl.
Video on social media showed the awkward moment Putintseva appeared to give the ball girl a cold shoulder during the second set of the 6-3, 6-4 loss on Saturday.
A visibly frustrated Putintseva stood motionless as the ball girl tossed her two tennis balls, letting each one bounce into her before finally making an attempt to catch the third.

The interaction immediately drew fierce boos from the crowd, and an even fiercer reaction on social media.
“Everyone should equally respect ball kids. They are also working hard. Respect,” one person wrote in a post on X.
“Completely disrespectful behavior, she is a horrible role model,” another added.
“You can tell a lot about a person’s character by how they treat those below them,” another post read.

The criticism prompted Putintseva to post an apology on her own social media.
She explained that her anger was directed at her own performance and that she was “deep in my thoughts” when the awkward exchange took place.
“I want to apologize to the ball girl for the way I was, when she was giving me balls. Honestly speaking it was not about her. I was really pissed at myself by not winning the game from the breakpoint and then got empty with my emotions and deep in my thoughts, that I was not even focusing on what’s going on and who gives me the ball… All the ball kids [were] doing amazing as always at the open.”

Enraged LSU coach’s angry, table-slamming response to USC loss
LSU football coach Brian Kelly struggled to hide his emotions during his media availability on Sunday night after USC was able to capitalize on what Kelly would characterize as a lack of discipline in the 27-20 loss.
Kelly slammed his fist on the table during his postgame presser as he explained his frustrations with the team, which included several personal fouls that resulted in scoring opportunities for the Trojans and an offense that just could not convert in the red zone.
“We had some guys play their butts off tonight, and we’re sitting here again – we’re sitting here again talking about the same things! About not finishing when you have an opponent in a position to put them away, but what we’re doing on the sideline is feeling like the game’s over,” an animated Kelly shouted.

“And I’m so angry about it that I’ve gotta do something about it. I’m not doing a good enough job as a coach, and I’ve gotta coach them better because it’s unacceptable for us not to have found a way to win this football game. It’s ridiculous.”
LSU held a four-point lead in the third quarter, but USC managed to tie the game with two minutes left on the clock – enough time for Miller Moss to connect with Kyron Hudson to put the Trojans within field goal range.
However, LSU’s Jardin Gilbert was called for targeting, putting the Trojans at the LSU 13 and Woody Marks would run it in for the winning score.
LSU PLAYER CALLED FOR UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT AFTER APPEARING TO PRETEND TO SHOOT GUN AFTER TOUCHDOWN
“I think it’s the first time since I’ve been here that I’m pretty angry at our football team. From a big picture, we didn’t play complimentary football… But the thing that is most most concerning for me are the personal fouls. The penalties that are selfish. Both of them led to scores, and they’re undisciplined penalties,” Kelly said.
“We take pride in running a disciplined program, but we have clearly not done a good enough job there because it impacted the game.”
“We had an opportunity to put this team away, and we get complacent, and we make more mistakes when we’re ahead instead of having a better focus and a steely-eyed killer instinct and that’s disappointing.”

Shocking video shows car crashing through home, barely missing couple and dogs
An Arizona couple and their four dogs all survived when a Ford Mustang crashed through their living room just as they were about to sit down for dinner.
Marcus Holmberg and Sabrina Rivera suffered cuts and minor injuries when the car smashed through their living room around 10:30 p.m. Friday night, Phoenix police said.
Holmberg and Rivera shared video showing the moment the Mustang crashed through the exterior wall and created a cloud of dust and debris.
“It was like a bomb went off,” Holmberg told local 12News. “It comes smashing in and just it’s there. It happened so quick. It was so explosive.”

Three of the couple’s four dogs were seen in the living room with them at the time of the crash. Holmberg posted a social media video after the incident to show that all the couple’s dogs were OK.
Rivera told Storyful that the dogs were “sore and scared” following the crash.
“No injuries were found but definitely a vet visit will be in play when we have funds to cover it,” Rivera said.

Woman denies her brother’s kids a place to stay during vacation, internet erupts
A woman asking others for help on social media described a “nightmare” scenario involving her brother’s children — detailing why she won’t allow the kids to stay at her place again.
Over 5,500 reactions to date have come in, with over 1,500 comments posted on the personal drama as well.
Describing herself as 32 years old, the woman told others on the Reddit page known as “AITA” (“Am I the a–hole”) that she lives “in a nice, cozy home that I’ve worked really hard to maintain.”

She said her brother, who is 34, has three kids, ages 10, 8 and 6 — and that “a few months ago, he ask[ed] if they could stay at my place for the weekends because he and his wife needed a break.”
The woman agreed, she said, “thinking it would be nice to bond with my nieces and nephew.”
That was a mistake, apparently.
The “weekend turned into a nightmare,” she wrote.
“The kids went absolutely wild. They broke several things, including a [vase] that was a gift from my late grandmother, spilled juice on my white couch, and even scribbled on the walls with markers.”

The woman said she “tried to manage the situation, but whenever I told them to stop or tried to set boundaries, they completely ignored me.”
“He didn’t offer to help clean up or replace anything.”
When she later reported the “damage” to her brother, she said he “just laughed it off and said, ‘Kids will be kids.’ He didn’t offer to help clean up or replace anything.”
The woman described herself as “really hurt, but [I] didn’t make a big deal out of it at the time,” she shared with others.
So — “fast-forward to now, [and] he’s asking if the kids can stay over again because they want to go on another weekend trip.”
The woman said she “told him no, explaining what happened last time and that I don’t want to deal with that again.”
WEDDING WOES AS REDDIT USER CONFRONTED BY STEPFATHER ABOUT ‘FATHER-OF-THE-BRIDE’ SLIGHT
At that, “he got really upset, saying I’m punishing his kids for being kids and that I’m being unfair.”
Now, her “parents are involved,” she wrote, “saying I should ‘be the bigger person’ and help out my brother. They say the kids are sorry and just want to spend time with their aunt. But I’m still traumatized by the last time they were here.”
“They do not live in your home. You have no obligation.”
The woman asked others if she was wrong “for refusing to let them stay at my house again.”
In the top “upvoted” response on the platform, a user wrote, “This is utterly ridiculous. You are not these children’s parent, and they do not live in your home. You have no obligation to care for them except in an emergency.”
The person also said, “It’s perfectly reasonable and acceptable to say that you can’t handle having them in your home, particularly given your previous experience.”
The same person also suggested, “Why don’t your parents take in their grandchildren for the weekend?”

Or, “if you do want to help out, you could stay at your brother’s place for the weekend,” the same user wrote.
“Why don’t your parents take in their grandchildren for the weekend?”
“That way, the kids are at home and can scribble on their own walls if they so choose. Also, your brother could pay you for doing this.”
Another user on the platform responded to that reply, writing, “That last paragraph is a genius remedy.”
Still another person on the platform wrote, “Kids are kids but not destructors. He and his wife probably need a break because they can’t control their own kids.”

On the issue of family members watching the children of others within their family unit, etiquette expert Lizzie Post, co-president at the Emily Post Institute and co-author of “Emily Post’s Etiquette, The Centennial Edition,” told the Scary Mommy website recently that people should not assume that “anyone with experience watching kids is available or willing to spend their time caring for your children.”

She added that as much as people may want to think that grandparents, aunts, uncles, older cousins and siblings will help out with child care, “it’s asking a lot.”
The piece also noted that “every child care arrangement is nuanced and worth discussing.”
