Mob of Turkish nationalists ambush, attack US Marines: ‘Yankee, go home!’

A mob of Turkish nationalists attacked U.S. Marines in western Turkey on Monday, resulting in the arrests of 15 people.

The incident took place in Izmir, which is located on Turkey’s Aegean coast. In a statement, the Izmir governor’s office said the assailants belonged to the Youth Union of Turkey, which is connected to the nationalist Vatan Party.

The governor said that the victims, who were assigned to the USS Wasp, were “physically attacked.” The service members were identified as “soldiers” by authorities, but are U.S. Marines.

Video posted to social media showed service members in civilian clothing yelling for help as they were restrained by a group of anti-American men.

The footage also shows an attacker throwing a plastic bag onto a victim’s head as the crowd chanted, “Yankee, go home!”

Five U.S. service members intervened during the incident, and authorities eventually arrested all 15 of the men who attacked the Marines.

The U.S. Embassy in Turkey confirmed the incident in a statement published on social media on Monday, and said that the Marines are safe.

“We can confirm reports that U.S. service members embarked aboard the USS Wasp were the victims of an assault in İzmir today, and are now safe,” the embassy said.

“We thank Turkish authorities for their rapid response and ongoing investigation.”

In a statement obtained by Reuters, the Youth Union of Turkey said the attack was “deserved” and criticized U.S. support of Israel.

“U.S. soldiers who carry the blood of our soldiers and thousands of Palestinians on their hands cannot dirty our country,” the nationalists said. “Every time you step foot in these lands, we will meet you the way you deserve.”

Polling is a useful tool in politics, if somewhat blunt and slow, and this weekend Democrats were taking no small comfort in an ABC/Ipsos survey showing Kamala Harris leading Donald Trump by 4 points nationally.

But the important thing about this poll is not the margin. After all, Rasmussen has Trump up by 2 points. Nobody knows which is right. What’s important is that on Aug. 13, this same ABC poll also showed Harris up 4. Put another way, Harris’ momentum isn’t just gone, it’s been gone for a while.

MARGIN OF ERROR RACE BETWEEN HARRIS AND TRUMP AS 2024 ELECTION ENTERS FINAL STRETCH

I first clearly felt the air escaping the Harris balloon a little more than a fortnight ago, in San Francisco of all places, where one would think she’d be viewed as a hometown hero. But already, from almost everyone I met, there were creeping questions as to what she stands for, what she would do as president.

We have all seen the viral videos, even from the Democratic National Convention, of delegates asked what their favorite Harris policy is, only to stare off into the distance, looking for an answer that isn’t there as if they had been asked to conjugate some word in ancient Greek.

I have now seen this expression more times than I can count, in red states, in blue states, in suburb, city and small town, even many of those committed to vote for the vice president admit it is kind of like buying a political scratch-off ticket. They aren’t sure what they are going to win.

Now, make no mistake, from the time that Nancy Pelosi shoved President Joe Biden, face first, off of the stage until just before the Democrats gathered in Chicago, the momentum was there, the vibes were real, and Harris’ numbers were going up.

I felt that distinctly, and palpably in the Democrats I spoke to, who had felt a kind of doom and gloom surrounding Grandpa Joe, but vibes are funny things and they tend to run out of steam. In fact, just after Trump survived his assassination attempt, it was Republicans who were convinced that the image of a bloodied and defiant Trump had already won them the election.

But not so fast.

So why did the wheels fall off of Harris’ vibe bus just as the joyride was getting started? There are a few missteps to point to, including her obstinate and bizarre refusal to answer questions or do interviews.

This is where the slow nature of polling becomes a problem. For two weeks, I were told by the liberal media that Harris didn’t need to do any interviews. She was surging, they promised. But she wasn’t.

And in that period, almost without fail, every voter I talked to said she needed to start answering questions. Today, it sure looks like the sponge bath she and Gov. Tim Walz received on CNN last week is too little, too late.

The bigger, related problem for Harris is that she simply does not have political chops. A candidate with political chops can do three interviews a day without breaking a sweat, they thrive on the unscripted moment that can be turned to their advantage.

Harris has none of these abilities, and she didn’t have to. Nobody without political chops and top notch instincts can win a competitive presidential primary, because they lose to better candidates, but Harris never had to face any other candidates and that lack of battle testing is showing its ugly head.

As the first orange leaves flutter groundward this week, we find ourselves where we were before Joe Biden’s inability to serve was spelled out in giant neon. This race is a toss up, the electorate is as divided as ever, and we are basically going into the fourth quarter all tied up.

For Donald Trump and JD Vance who have now blunted the short-lived Harris surge, this means more of the same, staying in the public eye as much as possible. You wouldn’t be surprised to see either of them with giant scissors at the grand opening of a Dairy Queen.

Harris and Walz, on the other hand, need a Second Act. Kamala describing how she makes collard greens and Tim eating pork chops on a stick at the state fair isn’t going to cut it. The American voters have questions, a lot of them, but do these untested Democratic candidates have any answers? We will soon find out.

Hamas vows to release terror video of moments just before they executed hostages

Hamas has released disturbing terrorist propaganda footage of six hostages who were abducted from Israel and recently found dead.

The video was reportedly posted on Hamas’ Telegram account on Monday, according to the New York Post. Hersh Goldberg-Polin, 23, Eden Yerushalmi, 24, Ori Danino, 25, Alex Lobanov, 32, Carmel Gat, 40, and Almog Sarusi, 27, were seen speaking in the video.

The hostages appeared gaunt in the disturbing black-and-white footage. Each one identified themselves, including Goldberg-Polin, an Israeli-American citizen who was abducted at the Re’im music festival massacre on Oct. 7.

The 23-year-old, who identified himself and said that he was a resident of Jerusalem, was missing part of his arm after a grenade attack.

“We Will Show Their Last Messages,” the video was captioned.

All six hostages were discovered dead on Saturday during an Israel Defense Ministry (IDF) operation in tunnels below Rafah, a city on the Gaza Strip. The IDF believes they were killed shortly before Israeli soldiers arrived on the scene.

“According to our initial assessment, they were brutally murdered by Hamas terrorists shortly before we reached them,” IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said in a statement over the weekend.

In a statement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he was “shocked to the core by the terrible cold-blooded murder of six of our abductees.”

WNBA Hall of Famer apologizes after alleged Caitlin Clark leaks surface

WNBA Hall of Famer and current Dallas Wings broadcaster Sheryl Swoopes responded to a fan on X who accused her of being “unfair” to Caitlin Clark with screenshots of alleged text messages.

Swoopes’ post on Monday showed three images of her messages with a contact named Caitlin Clark that she claims took place on Feb. 5. The first image showed Swoopes apologizing for an incorrect statement about the length of Clark’s college career earlier this year.

“Hey Caitlin, I wanted to personally reach out to you and say I made a mistake on what year this is for you, COVID year has me all confused,” Swoopes wrote. “I also have nothing but respect for you and your game and appreciate your skill. Congrats on everything you have accomplished thus far. Be blessed.”

The next two messages show Clark thanking Swoopes for reaching out and her contributions to the WNBA, and Swoopes returning another message that proclaimed appreciation.

Swoopes’ apology was for an incorrect statement she issued in an appearance on the “Gil’s Arena,” podcast with former NBA star Gilbert Arenas in February. Swoopes incorrectly said that Clark stayed in college for five seasons and that she took over 40 shots per game while discussing the topic of how Clark broke the NCAA’s all-time basketball points record her senior year in 2023.

But Clark played just four seasons while averaging just 22.7 shots per game en route to the record. She didn’t need a fifth year or even 22.3 shots per game to score the most points of any basketball player, men’s or women’s, in college history.

Swoopes, who was the first player to be signed in the WNBA with the Houston Commets in 1997, was removed from her regular post as Dallas Wings color commentator for the team’s game against Clark’s Indiana Fever on Sunday.

Swoopes has fired off several responses to posts on X that have referenced her interactions and previous statements on Clark since she was removed.

CAITLIN CLARK’S HARSH RECEPTION BY THE WNBA IS ‘GOOD FOR THE GAME,’ ESPN’S HOLLY ROWE SAYS

Outside of the incorrect statement on Clark’s collegiate career back in February, Swoopes has made several other comments about Clark that have drawn criticism.

Swoopes recently praised Chicago Sky player Diamond DeShields after a game in which DeShields fouled Clark to the floor, committing a flagrant 1 foul. It was only the latest in a series of controversial fouls the Sky committed on Clark in their four meetings this year.

Hours after DeShields committed the foul, she posted a screenshot of her notifications list on Instagram, which included a string of hate comments from a user referencing a spinal cord tumor DeShields overcame in 2020.

Swoopes wrote, “Head up kid! Hate will not win!! You are covered and ain’t nothing these evil people can do about that. All love for you!” in a post on X in response to DeShileds after the Sky’s loss to Indiana on Friday.

In an August episode of her podcast “Queens of the Court,” Swoopes did not name Clark as a reason for the recent improvement of the Fever. Swoopes only praised Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull. However, Clark has been the team’s leading scorer during its win stream, and is already one of the top scorers in the WNBA.

ESPN host Stephen A. Smith responded to Swoopes’ statements in the episode and said the Hall of Famer was “insane to do that.”

“Do you have any idea how that makes you look?” Smith said to Swoopes.

Swoopes clapped back to Smith as soon as she could in a response on X.

“You talk about whomever and whatever you want to on your podcast. Correct? So why can’t I? Also, did you listen to the ENTIRE episode? NOPE! I have a personal relationship with these players and they deserve recognition as well.”

During Swoopes’ absence from the broadcast booth on Sunday, Clark put up 28 points and 12 assists to lead Indiana to its fourth straight win and six in its last seven games. Clark scored the 595th point of her career, surpassing WNBA legend Tamika Catchings for the most in a single season by a rookie in Fever history. She finished with 617 points as Sunday’s game ended.

Clark has seemed to break a landmark record in every game she’s played in recently.

In Friday’s game against the Sky, Clark had the first 30-point, 12-assist game in WNBA history while becoming just the fifth player, and first rookie, to record at least 30 points and 10 assists in a game. On top of that, Clark now has 12 double-doubles, which breaks the WNBA record for most double-doubles by a guard in a single season.

Just three days before that, Clark set the record for most made 3-pointers by a rookie, surpassing the mark initially set by the Atlanta Dream’s Rhyne Howard. She was 3-of-12 from downtown and finished with 19 points, five rebounds and five assists as Indiana picked up its 15th win.

That same night, she also became the first WNBA player to have at least 15 points, five rebounds and five assists in six consecutive WNBA games. It was her 10th straight game with at least 15 points and five rebounds, which put her in the elite club with Diana Taurasi as the players who have hit the mark.

Elon Musk meets fire with fire after judge bans X throughout his entire country

Elon Musk didn’t mince words on Monday, writing on his X platform that Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes should be arrested.

“De Moraes deserves prison for his crimes,” the tech billionaire wrote on X on Sept. 2 after the country’s high court upheld a ban on the social media platform.

The temporary ban was imposed over the weekend after Musk didn’t name a legal representative before a deadline in a case going back months in which the country demanded some accounts be suspended that had been implicated in probes of so-called digital militias accused of spreading misinformation and hate.

JOURNALISTS SOUNDS ALARM ON BRAZILIAN JUDGE’S DECISION TO BAN ELON MUSK’S ‘X’: ‘SIMILAR TO COMMUNIST CUBA’

Following De Moraes’ Friday decision, a court panel voted unanimously to uphold the ruling on Monday.

Musk has attacked De Moraes multiple times from his X account, saying that “he should be impeached for violating his oath of office” and it’s “only a matter of time before this criminal is behind bars,” and calling him a “dictator.”

He previously wrote: “X is the most used news source in Brazil. It is what the people want. Now, the tyrant de Voldemort is crushing the people’s right to free speech.”

The court has also frozen satellite internet provider Starlink’s financial accounts in Brazil, which is 40% owned by Musk.

In the decision, Moraes ordered the full and immediate suspension of X in the country until all related court orders on X were complied with, including the payment of fines amounting 18.5 million reais ($3.28 million) and the nomination of a legal representative in Brazil.

X has alleged that de Moraes is calling for the platform to name a legal representative in the country so authorities there will have someone to arrest.

Fans accuse Brad Pitt’s new leading lady of copying one of his famous exes on red carpet

Brad Pitt and Ines de Ramon have gone red carpet official with their relationship.

The couple, who have been romantically linked since November 2022, made their red carpet debut at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday.

Pitt, 60, and de Ramon, 34, made it a double date night, hanging out with George Clooney and his wife Amal at the premiere of the actors’ movie “Wolfs.”

Clooney was in a black tux while his Amal wore a sleeveless pastel yellow gown. Pitt wore a black tuxedo jacket over a round collar shirt with matching flared pants, while his leading lady stunned in a white, one-shoulder gown.

People on social media couldn’t help but compare de Ramon to Pitt’s famous exes, Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston.

“She looks like a younger Angelina Jolie,” one user on X wrote.

Others thought de Ramon had copied Aniston’s style with her white dress.

“Her face look like Jolie but her dress looks like Aniston,” said one X writer, according to the Daily Mail. “She doing Jen Aniston style for sure, look at the dress! So Jen,” another wrote.

A friend of Pitt told Fox News Digital the people making those comparisons “are sort of sad.”

Representatives for de Ramon did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment. A representative for Pitt had no comment.

The fans may be referencing Aniston’s look from the 2020 Screen Actor’s Guild Awards. The actress wore a simple ivory gown that hugged her curves.

“Wolfs” marks Clooney and Pitt’s first time on screen together in 16 years, since 2008’s “Burn After Reading.”

The movie star duo play fixers hired to cover up crimes, reluctantly brought together when they are called to the same assignment.

Clooney recently disputed a report about his salary for his new film with his longtime friend.

The New York Times reported last week that the two had been paid over $35 million each to star in the film.

During a press conference for the film on Sunday at the Venice Film Festival, Clooney mentioned the report to the gathered press.

“[It was] an interesting article, and whatever her source was for our salary, it is millions and millions and millions of dollars less than what was reported. And I am only saying that because I think it’s bad for our industry if that’s what people think is the standard-bearer for salaries,” Clooney said, per People. “I think that’s terrible, it’ll make it impossible to make films.”

While at the “Wolfs” premiere, Clooney joked that there’s “nothing good about” his friendship with Pitt, telling People magazine, “It’s all a disaster.” The actor added on a serious note, “It’s fun to work with people you know really well.”

Country singer Rory Feek fires back after older daughters make bombshell claims

Country singer Rory Feek is speaking out following his older daughters’ concerns over their 10-year-old sister Indiana’s well-being.

On Aug. 31, Feek shared a lengthy blog post titled “love, dad” and wrote that his youngest daughter “has never been more loved or better cared for than she is right now.” He also noted that his eldest daughters’ claims have “broken my heart.”

“I never in a million dreams would have imagined that my older girls would be doing what they’re doing now, and I would be sitting here writing this blog post,” Feek wrote.

“But here we are, and here I sit, trying to make sense of all the texts and pictures, the online articles and accusations that people have been sending me, and even more than that, the things my oldest daughter, Heidi, has been saying and doing—all in the name of what I’m sure she thinks is for the good of her little sister.”

RORY FEEK STILL BELIEVES GOD HAS A PLAN FOR EVERYTHING

Feek wrote that “Indiana has never been more loved or better cared for than she is right now. She’s ten years old now, and for the first time in her life, she has a mother. She’s, of course, always known that she has a real one—Indy’s seen all the pictures and videos and heard all the songs—but it’s different when she can wake up in the morning and climb on Rebecca’s lap and say, ‘Good morning, Mama.’”

Feek married Rebecca on July 14 in Greycliff, Montana according to a previous blog post. The wedding took place eight years after he lost his wife Joey to cervical cancer.

“When Joey passed away, Indiana had just turned two, and so she doesn’t really remember her,” he wrote. “Since then, she has desperately wanted and needed a mother in her life, and it has finally come to be. It is a beautiful, beautiful thing to see happen for her and for all of us.”

On Aug. 29, Feek’s oldest daughter Heidi posted about a Taste of Country article where she and her sister Hopie were asked “about growing up in our father’s care.” In her Instagram post, she claimed “Rory often left Hopie with people who took advantage of us.”

She also alleged, “Recently Indy was left in the care of a group with a well documented history of physical and sexual abuse of children. Indiana, who has special needs, deserves to be in a safe and stable environment where her well-being is the top priority.”

Heidi previously posted on her Instagram story that she and Hopie are pursuing legal action against Feek regarding their younger sister, per Taste of Country.

Feek addressed allegations that Indiana was left with members of an alleged “cult” when he and Rebecca went on their honeymoon.

“Now, if you’re asking if Homestead Heritage or Greycliff is a cult, the answer is no,” the singer wrote in his blog post Saturday. “Those folks are just living in a way that other people don’t like or understand, and it’s a whole lot easier to call something a cult and dismiss it than it is to look deeper into and actually find out what it is they are doing and why they’re doing it.”

Feek wrote that while he and Rebecca were on their honeymoon, Indiana “stayed with two families, both of who have little ones that Indy is very close to.”

He also noted that “if you visit Homestead Heritage in Texas or Greycliff in Montana… what you’re going to find is a bunch of people who have learned how to truly love each other in community. To die to themselves and to put God first, and the fruit of it is everywhere you look. It’s especially visible in everyone you meet. Exactly the opposite of what some of these silly, salacious online reports are saying.”

When addressing the allegations he left her “with child molesters,” Feek wrote, “I am not a perfect father, but I’m also not an idiot.”

The “Gentleman” singer also responded to claims Indiana is not allowed to speak with or see her sisters. Feek wrote that the siblings were previously allowed to speak, “even through this past spring when the sheriff showed up at my door with a summons saying that I was being sued by Heidi and Hopie, and I had to hire a lawyer to defend myself and my little one.”

However, Feek wrote “when Child Protective Services called me out of nowhere, saying that it had been reported that Indiana was being neglected, along with other accusations, Heidi and Hopie forfeited their right to speak to their little sister.”

Feek also noted in his blog post that “this is not how it should be done. Instagram and Facebook are not the places where we should, as people and families, be settling our disputes or differences.”

He added that “too often, these platforms are used to air our dirty laundry, to say things about, or to, people that we don’t have the courage to say in person. I know it makes for a heck of a show online because people gravitate towards train wrecks, but in the end, it just hurts everyone.”

On Sunday, Heidi shared multiple posts on her Instagram account commenting on portions of her dad’s blog post.

The first post began, “Hi, dad. This is Heidi and Hopie. As sad as it is to say, we’re just happy to hear from you.”

The following slide noted that they agreed the internet “isn’t the place to settle this,” adding that they’d been reaching out to Feek, but had not gotten a response. The next slide was alleged texts that were sent to their dad.

“Love is action, not words. We forgive you for your unkind words. You called us cowardly in your blog post for not facing you. We forgive you. The last time we sat down to have this conversation, without a mediator as you requested, you told us you were done being our father. We forgive you.”

The final slide had a photo of Heidi and Hopie and read, “We have found peace in our own lives and have taken the long journey of healing. We have come out stronger on the other side of our childhoods.”

In a separate post, Heidi wrote, “This is just Heidi now. When you said ‘Indiana has never been more cared for than she is right now,’ I felt heart broken…I was worried you would try to erase Joey from the story like you erased our mom. You say Indy has a new ‘mama,’ but several people close to you have reached out to me concerned about the way she treats Indiana. Hopie and I aren’t the only people speaking up”

The post continued, “Some of the people speaking up grew up at Homestead Heritage. You called the *numerous* convicted pedophiles within Homestead ‘a few bad apples,’ but the saying goes ‘a few bad apples spoil the barrel.’”

“Over a decade ago, our church pastors reported four individuals to local authorities for sexual assault, and all were rightly convicted and sent to prison,” Dan Lancaster, a Homestead Heritage spokesperson, said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “Only one of these was a member of our church when the crime was committed. Unfortunately, one of our parishioner’s estranged daughters is trying to rewrite history to gain leverage in a family custodial dispute that has nothing to do with our church.”

The statement continued, “Like any church, having even one parishioner that commits such a heinous crime is one too many, but it is also heartbreaking to see our 1000-plus local parishioners and our church’s 51-year history smeared in the press for the crimes of others that we proactively reported to authorities.”
