Post-debate interviews widen gap in tally between GOP, Dem tickets

Former President Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, have sat down for at least 47 interviews since the Harris-Walz ticket was formed, compared to just eight non-scripted interviews for the Democratic presidential ticket thus far.

Vance did interviews with CNN, Fox News and ABC in the aftermath of Tuesday’s ABC News Presidential Debate between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, and he also appeared on Fox News’ “The Story” on Wednesday. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz spoke with MSNBC and ABC after the debate, marking just his fourth and fifth solo interviews since joining the Democratic ticket last month.

Trump also joined Fox News’ Sean Hannity afterwards for an interview, where he said he felt the ABC debate was “three on one” in criticism of moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis. He also joined “FOX & Friends” on Wednesday morning to react to the debate.

ABC PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE: MODERATORS DAVID MUIR AND LINSEY DAVIS FACT-CHECK TRUPM 5 TIMES, 0 FOR HARRIS

Harris and Walz ended their extended interview drought last month when they talked with CNN’s Dana Bash in Georgia after weeks of stonewalling the media. The highly publicized interview was the first time Harris sat down with a journalist since well before she selected Walz on Aug. 6.

Harris taped two radio interviews last week with Uforia, the audio network of TelevisaUnivision, and Rickey Smiley, host of the nationally syndicated “Rickey Smiley Show.” The Uforia interview aired Friday, while the Smiley interview was delayed until Monday due to what the campaign reportedly called “technical difficulties.”

Walz also spoke last week to WCMU radio in Michigan, in addition to speaking with “The Morning News with Nancy Kman and Jason Barsky” on WILK in Pennsylvania, and “The Chad Holmes Show” on WXCO in Wisconsin.

Since Aug. 6, Trump has spoken with Fox News’ “Life, Liberty & Levin” host Mark Levin, NBC News, the Daily Mail, Dr. Phil, Fox News’ Alicia Acuna, Hugh Hewitt Radio, FOX Business, podcaster Theo Von, the New York Post, WBRE News Wilkes-Barre, WLOS News 13 Asheville, Univision, and “FOX & Friends” twice. He’s also made at least two other cable news appearances and sat down with supporter Elon Musk for a lengthy conversation, according to a Fox News Digital review.

52 DAYS: KAMALA HARRIS HAS YET TO DO FORMAL PRESS CONFERENCE SINCE EMERGING AS DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE

The former president also sat down with podcaster Lex Fridman in an interview that was posted on Tuesday and a New Hampshire radio show on Wednesday, followed by a town hall with Fox News host Sean Hannity.

Vance, who has been critical of Harris dodging the press, has spoken to “FOX & Friends,” CNN’s John Berman, WBAY2, News 5 Cleveland, NBC News, “Meet the Press,” “No Spin News,” WALB 10, “CBS Evening News,” “The Brett Winterble Show,” “Jesse Watters Primetime,” “Fox News Sunday,” “The Dan O’Donnell Show,” ABC’s “This Week,” CBS’ “Face the Nation” and CNN’s “State of the Union” over that same time period.

He was interviewed by CNBC on Thursday and also sat for an interview this week with The Shawn Ryan Show.

Vance also appeared on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” last week and did an interview with supporter Charlie Kirk.

Harris still has not held a formal press conference since replacing President Biden as the Democratic nominee, opting for quick “gaggles” lasting a few minutes and off-the-record sessions with reporters on her campaign plane.

USA Today Washington bureau chief Susan Page believes Americans deserve to hear both candidates answer tough questions.

“I think part of the job description of being president is answering questions, not because reporters have a right to ask them, but because Americans have a right to hear them,” Page told Fox News Digital

“One of the major ways we do that is through interviews and through news conferences. And anybody who is running for president, I think should have the expectation that they’re gonna do interviews and news conferences, although they can also do public town halls and other things where they have a chance to talk to Americans,” she continued. “You need to communicate, connect with and answer questions of voters if you expect them to vote for you and if you expect them to follow you when you’re governing.”

Migrants destroying town ‘don’t understand the laws,’ lawmaker says amid national warning

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – An Ohio town that has seen its population swell with thousands of Haitian refugees has had to battle differences in culture and even driving practices as it adjusts to its new reality.

“We’ve got an influx of folks that have come in, and I think we were a little bit shocked that it was close to 20,000 people in a community of 60,000, and that’s caused some issues between the folks that live here and the folks that are coming in,” Ohio State Rep. Kyle Koehler told Fox News Digital.

The comments come as Springfield, which is located roughly 50 miles west of Columbus, has entered the national spotlight in recent weeks, most recently when former President Donald Trump pointed to the town during one of his responses in Tuesday’s debate.

“They’re eating the dogs, the people that came in, they’re eating the cats,” Trump said during a response to a question about immigration. “They’re eating the pets of the people that live there, and this is what’s happening in our country, and it’s a shame.”

RESIDENTS OF SPRINGFIELD, OHIO ATTEND CITY COUNCIL MEETING TO SHARE FRUSTRATION ABOUT MIGRANT CRISIS HITTING THEIR COMMUNITY

The issue has also caught the attention of Ohio Republican senate candidate Bernie Moreno, who argued that the Biden administration’s “open border” policies “have flooded Springfield, Ohio, with thousands of illegal Haitians who are sucking up social services and destroying a small town here in Ohio.”

“We need to deport illegals, not invite them to wreak havoc on our communities like Sherrod Brown and Kamala Harris have done,” Moreno told Fox News Digital.

While local officials and multiple media outlets have disputed the point that Trump raised in the debate, there is still a new reality faced by longtime members of the Springfield community. Chief among them, according to Koehler, are cultural differences between locals and the Haitian refugees who are new to the town.

“They don’t understand the laws, they don’t understand some of our customs, we don’t understand some of their customs, and that clash and the overwhelming amount of people that have come at one point has really caused some issues,” Koehler, who is now running to represent the area in the state Senate, said.

One more extreme example of that, Koehler recalled hearing second hand, allegedly played out at a local Walmart, where he said there were stories of “people showing up at the Walmart on a Saturday morning, going into the bathroom, and stripping down and bathing themselves.”

FOCUS GROUP REACTS TO TRUMP CLAIM THAT MIGRANTS ARE ‘EATING THE DOGS’ IN OHIO TOWN

“Again, not something we do here, something someone might do in another culture, or something someone might do if they don’t understand the culture they’re in now,” Koehler said. “Whether that’s true or not, those stories get passed around, and it inflames the situation we have in our community.”

Another issue causing concern among the local population is road safety, Koehler noted.

“The driving in town is horrendous,” Koehler said, noting that a lot of that issue can also be chalked up to cultural differences.

One notable situation occurred last October, when a school bus carrying dozens of children in the area collided with a minivan, resulting in over 20 kids being hurt and one, Aiden Clark, being killed.

The driver of the minivan was later identified as Hermanio Joseph, a Haitian immigrant who was found guilty earlier this year of involuntary manslaughter and vehicular homicide for his role in the incident.

The tragic incident inflamed tensions in the community, with Koehler noting that road safety had been one of the more visible concerns for locals.

“We do have a really abnormal number of car accidents that are happening,” Koehler said. “And it’s not only the number, but the severity of them. When you go on a street that is a 35-mile-an-hour speed limit and there’s a car sitting on its hood, and I’m not talking about one, I’m talking about five or six accidents a week like that, you begin to wonder.”

Nevertheless, Koehler stressed the positive attributes of Springfield, arguing that the town was once in decline but is now on the way back.

“We have a wonderful town,” Koehler said.

Trump pledges to end taxation on tips, Social Security benefits — and now another type of pay

Former President Trump promises to eliminate taxes on overtime pay as part of a series of proposed cuts he said would mean more disposable income for workers.

“That gives people more of an incentive to work. It gives the companies a lot,” Trump told a crowd Thursday at a campaign rally in Tucson, Arizona.

“The people who work overtime are among the hardest-working citizens in our country. And for too long, no one in Washington has been looking out for them.

TRUMP PLEDGES TO ELIMINATE TAXES ON TIPS FOR SERVICE WORKERS DURING LAS VEGAS RALLY

“Those are the people, they really work. They’re police officers, nurses, factory workers, construction workers, truck drivers and machine operators.”

The pitch came as Trump seeks to turn Arizona, a state President Biden won by just a few thousand votes in 2020, red again.

REPUBLICANS BLAST BIDEN ADMIN OVER PLAN TO CRACK DOWN ON WAITERS’ TIPS

“So, that’s why we will be saying that if you’re an overtime worker when you’re passed 40 hours a week, think of that,” he added. “Your overtime hours will be tax-free.”

Trump has also promised to get rid of taxes on Social Security benefits and the taxation of tips for service workers, a pledge Vice President Kamala Harris has made, as well as raising the minimum wage.

The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimated that eliminating taxes on tip income, as well as increasing the minimum wage, could add between $100 billion and $200 billion to the nation’s deficits over a 10-year window.

Goldman Sachs CEO downplays firm’s report that VP Harris bragged about during debate

The CEO of Goldman Sachs weighed in on Vice President Kamala Harris’ comments during Tuesday night’s presidential debate in which she touted the investment bank’s analysis of the benefits of her economic plan, saying the Democratic nominee made the report seem like a bigger deal than reality shows.

“I am offering what I describe as an opportunity economy, and the best economists in our country, if not the world, have reviewed our relative plans for the future of America,” Harris said during the debate. “What Goldman Sachs has said is that Donald Trump’s plan would make the economy worse, mine would strengthen the economy.”

Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon said in a Wednesday appearance on CNBC with host Scott Wapner, “So, that report, which was mentioned last night in the debate, came from an independent analyst, and it’s interesting, Scott, I think a lot more has been made of this than should be.”

“What the report did is it looked at a handful of policy issues that have been put out by both sides, and it tried to model their impact on GDP growth,” Solomon explained. “The reason I say a bigger deal has been made of it is what it showed is the difference between the sets of policies that they’ve put forward is about two-tenths of 1%.”

COST-OF-LIVING CRISIS KICKS OFF THE HARRIS, TRUMP DEBATE

“So, the economy grows, if you took these particular sets of policies they looked at — and by the way, we have no idea whether these policies, these things that are talked about, will ultimately be implemented — and what was the growth impact? And the differential was two-tenths of 1%,” he said.

“I think our clients are trying to look at what’s going on from a policy perspective and make judgments. I think this blew up into something that’s bigger than what it was intended to be,” Solomon said.

CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE CALL TO EXTEND TRUMP TAX CUTS, AVOID ‘LARGEST TAX INCREASE IN AMERICAN HISTORY’

Reuters reported that the analysis in question said that higher tariffs and tighter immigration policy under a potential Trump administration “would outweigh the positive fiscal impulse” of other policies to bring down GDP growth.

Further, it predicted that Democrats’ spending policies and tax credits would “slightly more than offset lower investment due to higher corporate tax rates” and result “in a very slight boost to GDP growth on average over 2025-2026.”

Dolphins’ star QB forced to leave game after harrowing collision during red zone run

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had another scary “Thursday Night Football” moment, as he suffered a concussion after taking a big hit from Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin.

Dolphins medical staff needed just six minutes after Tagovailoa left the field on his own power to determine the signal caller had a concussion.

On 4th-and-4 with the Dolphins needing a touchdown to stay in the game, Tagovailoa stepped up in the pocket and took off to get past the sticks to keep the drive alive.

Despite passing the first-down line, Tagovailoa kept running and met Hamlin in the open field and led with his head instead of sliding. Hamlin didn’t have to do much to take him down, as Tagovailoa immediately hit the deck and slammed his head on the turf at Hard Rock Stadium.

Tagovailoa picked up the first down, but it seemed to be at the worst cost as he raised his hand for a teammate to pick him up.

DOLPHINS’ TUA TAGOVAILOA CONSIDERED RETIREMENT ‘FOR A TIME’ AFTER HIS MULTIPLE CONCUSSIONS

But Tagovailoa appeared disoriented as his hand began moving uncontrollably, and he held his head as Dolphins began crowding around him. Players on both the Bills and Dolphins got down on one knee as medical staff was quick to run out and assess the quarterback.

After talking to him, Tagovailoa ultimately walked off on his power, but was noticeably limping. Instead of going into the blue medical tent, Tagovailoa walked off the field with trainers into the locker room, where they determined he indeed has a concussion.

While Tagovailoa didn’t miss a single game during the 2023 season, the 2022 campaign saw some scary moments for the left-handed quarterback as he suffered three concussions, one of which came on “Thursday Night Football” against the Cincinnati Bengals where he left the field on a stretcher.

Tagovailoa appeared to suffer a concussion the game prior against the Bills at home, but it was ruled he was dealing with a back injury, which led to him stumbling after noticeably smacking his head on the ground during a play.

Just days later, in Week 4 against the Bengals, Tagaovailoa was tossed onto the Paycor Stadium turf in Cincinnati, and a disturbing scene unfolded as his hands were posturing, an occurrence that sometimes comes with head injuries where the fingers curl.

Players prayed on the field as Tagovailoa was taken out in a stretcher, and he would miss two games before ultimately returning in Week 7.

Then, in Week 16 against the Green Bay Packers, Tagovailoa suffered his third concussion on the season, effectively knocking him out the remainder of the year.

In the offseason, the Hawaii native admitted there was a time he considered retirement because of how head injuries can affect a person’s life given research done on CTE. But he was confident heading into last season, and proved it by playing every single game.

Now, we’ll see if and when Tagovailoa will pass concussion protocol.

Before his injury, Tagovailoa threw three interceptions, one of which was returned for a pick-six, and one touchdown to De’Von Achane.

Chicago restaurant claims to have nation’s most expensive martini

A new, fancy cocktail served in Chicago, Illinois, will set you back thousands.

Adalina, a restaurant serving Italian cuisine to Windy City patrons, has debuted the expensive martini with a twist.

Regardless of whether the drink is shaken, not stirred, the martini includes an exclusive piece of diamond jewelry.

HONEY DEUCE SALES AT US OPEN REVEALED AS COCKTAIL EXPLODES IN POPULARITY

The restaurant, led by Top Chef alumni Soo Ahn, has collaborated with Marrow Fine, a jewelry brand located just below the restaurant, to offer guests the ultimate luxury experience.

Along with the “Marrow Martini” comes a 9-CWT diamond tennis necklace featuring 150 diamonds set in 14K gold.

Colin Hofer, Adalina’s manager, told Fox News Digital via email that as far as the staff are aware, it is quite possibly the most expensive martini in the United States.

“What makes the Marrow Martini truly unique is the seamless fusion of fine jewelry and luxury dining. It’s not just about the cocktail — it’s about creating an elevated experience,” he said.

Hofer said inspiration behind the drink was taken from high-end jewelry.

And, the way the drink is crafted sets it apart from your typical martini.

“Instead of traditional spirits like gin or vodka, I chose Mezcal because I believe it has untapped potential as a luxury spirit. Mezcal, much like heirloom jewelry, is often overlooked despite its richness. The particular Mezcal we use is a rare, sought-after brand made from Green Agave, native to the deserts of San Luis Potosí, Mexico,” Hofer said.

Jillian Sassone, founder of Marrow Fine, told Fox News Digital via email she suspects the drink will make for memorable evenings.

“Adalina was a natural choice to partner with: not only because of its proximity, but also because of their world-class menu from Top Chef, Soo Ahn. Each time I have visited Adalina, I’m blown away by every dish but also by the palpable energy and excitement in the restaurant,” she said.

The martini gives a bold flavor by being paired with other garden-inspired ingredients like heirloom tomato water, chili liqueur and lemon basil olive oil.

“While it’s not something we expect to see sold frequently, it has sparked a lot of interest among our clientele. It’s more about creating an iconic experience for a select few rather than broad popularity,” Hofer said.

Before being served, the cocktail is smoked in a glass cloche then presented to the customer alongside the necklace.
