Largest city in America passes reparations bill and critics are fuming

New York City will soon be the largest city in the United States to enact a reparations program.

Councilmembers Crystal Hudson and Farah Louis sponsored a pair of bills to establish a Truth, Healing and Reconciliation Commission and a reparations task force. Both bills passed on Thursday and will be effective immediately.

“Today, the New York City Council voted to pass legislation establishing municipal efforts to acknowledge and address the legacy and impact of slavery and racial injustices in New York City,” the New York City council announced in a press release. “The package of legislation would establish a Truth, Healing and Reconciliation process on slavery within New York City (which had one of the highest rates of slave ownership in the country in the 1700s), a reparations study, informational signs at the City’s first slave market, and a taskforce to consider the creation of a ‘freedom trail’ commemorating abolitionist movement and Underground Railroad sites.”

The press release detailed how the commission would “establish facts about slavery in New York City and its ongoing legacies, protect and acknowledge affected persons and communities, and recommend changes for government and institutions to prevent the perpetuation and recurrence of injustices from the legacy of slavery.”

The two councilmembers who sponsored the legislation, praised its passage and think it will bring about change in the city.

Hudson said she hopes the legislation will “identify racist, anti-Black policies at the foundation of our city’s institutions and it will yield material solutions to address these foundational cracks.”

Louis said the legislation is a “crucial step towards justice and equity.”

BLACK CALIFORNIANS WARN NEWSOM OF ‘DIRECT IMPACT’ ON HARRIS AFTER DEMOCRATS KILL SLAVE REPARATION BILLS

When contacted by Fox News Digital, Hudson touted the virtues of the legislation and argued the impact of slavery is still felt today.

“The passage of these bills represents a significant step for New York City. The harm slavery caused Black Americans continues to be felt today. Our nation’s inability to properly redress such a historic wrong allows this deep injustice to continue to manifest itself in distinct, tangible ways––be it the prison-industrial complex, predatory lending, redlining, or inequality in our school systems,” Hudson said.

“When I first ran for office in 2021, I released A Black Agenda for New York City, outlining six bold recommendations that would meet the urgency of the racial reckoning facing our city. One of those recommendations was the creation of a citywide Truth, Healing, and Reconciliation process centered on acknowledging the city’s racist practices and historic treatment of Black New Yorkers,” she added. “And it is my hope that as the nation’s largest city––with the biggest municipal budget––our truth, healing, and reconciliation process will work; it will identify racist, anti-Black policies at the foundation of our city’s institutions and it will yield material solutions to address these foundational cracks.”

However, not all New York City councilmembers are happy about the bills.

“I’ll move before I’ll pay,” Minority Leader Joseph Borelli told the New York Post. Borelli was one of the 8 councilmembers to vote against the legislation.

“If they can introduce me to one New Yorker who owned a slave I’d be happy to consider it,” he added. “But until then, I am not paying a dime as a reparation for a harm I did not cause, nor condone, nor once participated in.”

Defamation lawsuit against liberal network could expose company’s financial secrets

CNN faces a defamation lawsuit over a 2021 story centered around the chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal and a recent ruling could expose financial secrets as the court seeks to determine the cable network’s net worth.

The plaintiff, Zachary Young, alleges that CNN smeared his security consulting company, Nemex Enterprises Inc., by implying it illegally profited when helping people flee Afghanistan during the Biden administration’s military withdrawal from the country in 2021. A civil trial is scheduled to begin on January 6, 2025 in front of Judge William Henry in the Circuit Court for Bay County, Florida.

Last week, Henry paved the way for Young to issue a subpoena for CNN to hand over a plethora of sensitive financial information that the cable network presented to its parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery.

“Essentially, this will act as a way to double check to see if CNN was being honest with the financial documents they were turning over as part of discovery; comparing what they turned over to Young’s legal team vs what they told corporate,” NewsBusters associate editor Nicholas Fondacaro wrote when covering the hearing

CNN FACES DEFAMATION SUIT OVER AFGHANISTAN WITHDRAWAL STORY: ‘EVIDENCE OF ACTUAL MALICE’

Puck reporter Eriq Gardner wrote that the judge’s decision “sent a jolt through CNN’s executives offices.”

“Young has won a green light to seek punitive damages,” Gardner wrote.

“Accordingly, Young’s attorneys will soon be receiving documents to assess CNN’s net worth, so they can argue before a jury just how big a penalty Young should receive,” he continued. “The judge has also ordered a deposition for Jake Tapper, who will likely have to disclose his salary and contract negotiations.

Tapper’s salary will be particularly interesting to now-former CNN employees who were let go during a recent round of cost-cutting headcount reductions. The network announced in July that roughly 100 staffers would be let go.

Gardner also reported that CNN’s lawyer Charles Tobin “visibly bristled at the ruling” and told the judge that the October 11 deadline to comply “upends” his plans.

Young, a U.S. Navy veteran, believes CNN “destroyed his reputation and business by branding him an illegal profiteer who exploited desperate Afghans” during a Nov. 11, 2021, segment on CNN’s “The Lead with Jake Tapper,” which was shared on social media and also repackaged for CNN’s website.

Tapper began the segment by informing viewers that CNN correspondent Alex Marquardt discovered “Afghans trying to get out of the country face a black market full of promises, demands of exorbitant fees, and no guarantee of safety or success.”

Tapper tossed to Marquardt, who said “desperate Afghans are being exploited” and need to pay “exorbitant, often impossible amounts” to flee the country. Marquardt then singled out Young, putting a picture of his face on the screen and saying his company was asking for $75,000 to transport a vehicle of passengers to Pakistan for $14,500 per person to end up in the United Arab Emirates.

“Prices well beyond the reach of most Afghans,” Marquardt told viewers.

ABC NEWS REBUKED BY PRO-LIFE GROUP, ASKED FOR CORRECTION OF ABORTION CLAIM BY DEBATE MODERATOR

“We got Young’s number and called, but he didn’t pick up. In a text message, he told CNN that ‘Afghans trying to leave are expected to have sponsors pay for them. If someone reached out, we need to understand if they have a sponsor behind them to be able to pay evacuation costs which are highly volatile and based on environmental realities,’” Marquardt continued. “Young repeatedly declined to break down the cost or say if he’s making money.”

No other people or companies were named other than Young.

“In another message, that person offering those evacuations, Zachary Young, he wrote, ‘Availability is extremely limited and demand is high’ … he goes on to say, ‘That’s how economics works, unfortunately,’” Marquardt told viewers.

Tapper responded, “Unfortunately, hmm,” before thanking Marquardt for the report.

Young alleged that CNN using the terms “black market,” “exploit” and “exorbitant,” painted him as a bad actor preying upon desperate people.

AFGHANISTAN GOLD STAR FATHER: BIDEN-HARRIS NEED TO ‘OWN UP’ TO THEIR MISTAKE, SAY SORRY

CNN did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

It will be interesting to see if CNN chief media analyst Brian Stelter covers the story, as he recently returned to the network after being fired by previous management. His media newsletter didn’t return until Monday and he did not post about the defamation suit on X while he was away from the network.

Earlier this year, judges with the First District Court of Appeal for the State of Florida ruled on June 12 that the Young offered enough evidence that he was able to move forward with a defamation suit against CNN for punitive damages.

“Young sufficiently proffered evidence of actual malice, express malice, and a level of conduct outrageous enough to open the door for him to seek punitive damages,” the court document states. “Whether Young can ultimately prevail is not the issue before us.”

The judges wrote, “Young proffered CNN messages and emails that showed internal concern about the completeness and veracity of the reporting— the story is ‘a mess,’ ‘incomplete,’ not ‘fleshed out for digital,’ ‘the story is 80% emotion, 20% obscured fact,’ and ‘full of holes like Swiss cheese,’” but the network aired it anyway.

“Young also proffered a message exchange he had with Marquardt just hours before publication where he advised there were factual inaccuracies in the reporting. CNN published anyway,” the judges wrote, adding that other internal communications show CNN staffers “had little regard” for Young and used profanities and disparaging language when privately discussing him.

“Marquardt referred to him as ‘f—ing Young’ and quipped, “it’s your funeral bucko,'” according to the court document.

“On appeal, CNN argues it did not intend to harm; its language was either opinion or ambiguous; and the internal communications were journalistic bravado that reflected a sincere belief in the reporting,” the judges wrote.

Read the will surrounding dead woman’s home that pushed son to massacre siblings

When Theresa DeLucia, a 95-year-old mother of four from New York’s Long Island, died last month, she had already laid out her wishes in a last will and testament more than a decade ago.

The 2007 document, however, may have played a role in her youngest son’s shooting rampage, which killed his three siblings and a niece in a murder-suicide.

Joseph DeLucia stood to gain one-fourth of the value of the home’s sale as well as a quarter of the rest of his mother’s estate. Zillow estimates placed the property value at almost $900,000.

NY MURDER-SUICIDE LEAVES 5 DEAD BEFORE MEETING WITH REALTOR TO SELL RECENTLY DECEASED MOTHER’S HOME

DeLucia lived with his mother up until her death, but in her will, she wrote that “I direct any member of my family who may be living in such home at the time of my death to vacate same to facilitate such sale.”

She also empowered her oldest son, Frank, to enforce the provision.

Apparently fearing that he would be left homeless, Joseph massacred the rest of his family.

Read Theresa DeLucia’s last will and testament

“[In] 41 years, it is probably one of the most horrific scenes I’ve ever seen,” Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder told reporters in a news briefing.

He said that there were warning signs that might have prevented the slayings if they had been reported to police.

GRANDMOTHER KILLS COLLEGE TRACK COACH IN MURDER-SUICIDE IN WEALTHY NEW YORK NEIGHBORHOOD: POLICE

“There was talk in that community about the distress of this shooter that had decided he did not want to leave his residence after his mom died,” he said. “There was talk in the community in the past that if you hear shots fired, don’t call the police – it’ll be too late.”

Family members gathered at the DeLucia matriarch’s home on Wyoming Court in Syosset on the morning of Aug. 25, grabbing coffee from Starbucks ahead of a planned meeting with a real estate agent to discuss selling the home, police said. The suburban neighborhood is about 30 miles east of New York City.

COUSINS ARRESTED AFTER BIZARRE INCIDENT INVOLVING POSSIBLE PIPE BOMB, MACHETE OUTSIDE NYC POLICE PRECINCT

A neighbor called 911 just before noon. Police found Joseph DeLucia, 59, dead outside, near a shotgun on the grass.

Inside, they found Joanne Kearns, a 69-year-old sister who lived in Tampa, Florida; Frank DeLucia, a 64-year-old brother who lived in Durham, North Carolina; Tina Hammond, a 64-year-old sister who lived in the neighboring Suffolk County; and her daughter Victoria, 30.

Joseph DeLucia had a history of mental illness but no significant criminal record beyond a drunken driving stop decades ago, according to authorities. However, under New York’s red flag law, police could have taken away his shotgun, police said.

Nassau Detective Capt. Stephen Fitzpatrick said the killer believed he was being cut out of the will and would have been thrown out on the streets when his siblings sold the home.

“Because of that perception, he decided that day to get a loaded Mossberg shotgun, 12-gauge, approach them in the rear area of the house, and from the kitchen fire 12 shots, striking all four of them multiple times,” he told reporters at the briefing.

Neighbors heard him on the front lawn shouting before DeLucia fired a final shot into his own chest. A haunting final post on a Facebook page under his name shows a New York license plate reading, “DEPRSSED.”

“If anybody has somebody that they think has issues, they should be calling us,” Fitzpatrick added.

Skip Bayless’ admission about basketball sensation Caitlin Clark raises eyebrows

Skip Bayless opened up about his reservations over publicly supporting women’s basketball sensation Caitlin Clark in an episode of his podcast on Thursday.

Bayless revealed that he was actually in awe of Clark’s ability, and it was the main thing that got him to start watching the WNBA this year. However, he revealed that the reason he did not buy into the Clark excitement early on was because of “guilt,” and not wanting to stir racial division.

“I started to think, deep down in my psyche, ‘Wait a second, she’s really good.’ But I’ll be the first to admit, I felt guilty saying so on TV or on social media. I did not want to look like this red state white guy cheering for this red state white girl. Our country feels split enough racially already. I didn’t want to pour gasoline on that fire,” Bayless said on the show.

Bayless was a vocal opponent of Clark earlier this year, and he even questioned her potential during a broadcast on FS1 back in June.

“Caitlin, I don’t know if she has that dog in her,” Bayless previously said. “I know she’s got talent, I know she’s got distant shooting talent and I know she definitely has a gift for passing the basketball. But I don’t know if she has that dog in her because I start to wonder — I know it’s extremely early, but I’m just saying, I start to wonder when I see what I saw (Sunday).”

Bayless went so far as to say that one of the reasons he took stances like these against Clark was because he believed the Iowa native was a “right-wing symbol” due to the fact that she is a White player excelling at the game of basketball.

“Maybe I was wrong about this, but Caitlin Clark started to feel like some sort of new right-wing symbol. ‘White woman dominating game dominated by Black men and women for years and years.’ I could almost hear some people thinking, ‘White power baby!’ And please, I’m not saying Caitlin Clark is far-right in her politics or beliefs. I have no idea what her politics or religion are because she has carefully, and I say smartly, avoided taking any rookie year stance because she is already such a lightning rod.

“I know what a powerful point of pride basketball has been to the Black community in this country. Black men and women obviously have been routinely and consistently better at basketball.”

The 22-year-old Clark was actually pressed about her political beliefs during a press conference on Wednesday after liking Taylor Swift’s Instagram post that announced her endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming election. Clark did not give an endorsement or even a mention of either candidate, but simply said she believed in using her platform to encourage people to vote.

CAITLIN CLARK LIKES TAYLOR SWIFT’S ENDORSEMENT OF HARRIS FOR PRESIDENT

Clark was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and played at Iowa before she turned pro and was drafted by the Fever. Her parents, Anne and Brent, have three children, as Caitlin is the middle child between her two brothers, Blake and Colin. Her parents are life-long Iowa natives. Former President Donald Trump won six electoral votes in Iowa in the 2020 election. However, most of the votes in Polk County, where Des Moines is located, went to Biden.

Conversations over the role Clark’s race plays in her popularity have been rampant since the end of her junior season at Iowa, when she led the Hawkeyes to the national championship game against Angel Reese and LSU, but lost.

Those conversations escalated in her first WNBA season, non-coincidentally against Reese’s team, the Chicago Sky. Clark took several hard fouls from opponents early in her rookie year, but an infamous one by the Sky’s Chennedy Carter in March ignited a strong backlash from many of Clark’s loyal fans.

Reese herself suggested many of Clark’s fans are racist in the first episode of her podcast last week.

“I think it’s really just the fans, her fans, the Iowa fans, now the Indiana fans, that are really just, they ride for her, and I respect that, respectfully. But sometimes it’s very disrespectful. I think there’s a lot of racism when it comes to it,” Reese said.

Bayless is not the first major controversial sports talk show host to speak about Clark’s race within the context of her reputation in the WNBA.

ESPN host Pat McAfee had to issue an apology over social media in June after referring to Clark as a “White b—-” during a live television broadcast. However, in the apology, McAfee doubled down on his original argument that Clark’s race has contributed to her reception by the WNBA and treatment from opposing players.

“Is there a chance people just enjoy watching her play basketball because of how electrifying she is, what she did, what she stood for, how she went about going what she went for?” McAfee said originally. “Maybe. But instead, we have to hear people say we only like her because she’s White, and she’s only popular because the rest of the rookie class is doing what they’re doing. Well, that’s a bunch of bulls— and we think the WNBA — more specifically their refs — need to stop trying to screw her over at every single turn. What you have is somebody special, and we’re lucky she’s here in Indiana.”

Jim Trotter, a columnist for The Athletic and the New York Times, has penned a series of columns focused on the aspect of Clark’s race, criticizing both her fans and Clark herself for not taking a stronger stance against some of her fans’ prejudices when asked about it.

New study shows ABC debate moderator David Muir hosts most pro-VP Harris newscast

Conservatives say a recent study showing Vice President Kamala Harris receiving significantly more favorable coverage on ABC’s “World News Tonight with David Muir” than former President Trump should have been a clear indicator that Tuesday night’s debate was going to be hostile territory.

ABC News has come under fire after Muir and co-moderator Linsey Davis repeatedly fact-checked Trump while failing to correct Harris even a single time. The ABC moderators have also been urged to issue a correction on their abortion coverage and were scolded for giving Harris a pass on her explanation for recent policy flip-flops.

Conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt wrote that the “journalistic reputations of Muir and Davis are the most scarred by the fiasco,” but “the damage will extend to both the ABC and Disney brands” because the moderators failed to ask more critical questions of Harris.

CNN PANEL CLASHES AFTER DEMOCRATIC GUEST SUGGESTS DEBATE MODERATORS WERE ‘HARSHER’ ON TRUMP

Media Research Center founder Brent Bozell said on “The Brent Bozell Show” podcast that Harris had a clear advantage that should have been apparent.

“Whoever recommended that [Trump] do that debate on ABC should be fired. It was about the worst decision that could have been made,” Bozell said on Wednesday when discussing what he feels are the Disney-owned network’s biases.

The debate was hardly the first time ABC News has been accused of favoring Democrats over Trump or painting the GOP nominee in a negative light. The network’s daytime gabfest “The View,” which falls under the umbrella of ABC’s news division, has been overtly anti-Trump for years and summoned Chelsea Clinton to guest-host on Thursday. The show’s hosts were gleeful over the debate, with Whoopi Goldberg calling it a “booty whooping.”

ABC’s flagship late-night show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” is also regularly critical of Trump and booked prominent anti-Trump figures Jane Fonda and George Conway as guests following the network’s coverage of the debate. Kimmel even helped with a fundraiser for Biden when he was the nominee earlier this year.

When it comes to the debate moderators, Davis seemingly linked Trump to the Ku Klux Klan by noting during ABC coverage of the Democratic National Convention that the former president was scheduled to appear in the same Michigan town where the KKK held a protest earlier this year.

VOTERS GIVE HARRIS THE DEBATE WIN, BUT PRAISE TRUMP ON POLICY: SHE GOT UNDER HIS SKIN

As for Muir, the conservative Media Research Center found prior to the debate that his program, “World News Tonight,” has been more “positive towards Harris and the most hostile to Trump” compared to evening newscasts on NBC and CBS.

Bozell’s MRC reviewed 100 campaign stories on ABC’s “World News Tonight” that aired from July 21 when Harris entered the race through September 6.

“Our analysts found 25 clearly positive statements about Harris from reporters, anchors, voters or other non-partisan sources, with zero negative statements — none. That computes to a gravity-defying 100% positive spin score for the Vice President,” MRC NewsBusters contributing editor Rich Noyes wrote.

“As for Trump, our analysts found just five clearly positive comments, vs. 66 negative statements, for a dismal 7 percent positive — 93% negative — spin score,” Noyes continued. “During these same weeks, both the ‘CBS Evening News’ and ‘NBC Nightly News’ also delivered highly positive coverage for Harris, and mostly negative coverage for Trump, yet not as extreme as we found with ABC’s ‘World News Tonight.’”

Notes explained that MRC’s measure of good versus bad press omitted partisan comments, “as well as ‘horse race’ assessments about the candidates’ poll standings and prospects.” The MRC added “ABC’s reporters and anchors either jumped in to criticize Trump themselves, or broadcast negative comments from non-partisan sources to impart a heavily negative spin to the former President’s coverage.”

MRC researchers also pointed to “other ways that ABC’s flagship newscast aided the Democratic nominee” ahead of the presidential debate.

ABC’S LINSEY DAVIS RAISES EYEBROWS WITH ABORTION FACT-CHECK AGAINST TRUMP: ‘COMPLETELY INTERJECTS HERSELF’

The MRC wrote that “World News Tonight” hasn’t used the word “liberal” to describe Harris, hasn’t spoken to voters who oppose Harris and regularly promotes Trump controversies while “hiding” negative news about Harris.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America also sent a letter to ABC News president Almin Karamehmedovic, along with Muir and Davis, urging the network to issue a correction about a “100% inaccurate” abortion claim made during the debate.

Trump referred to infamous comments made by former Virginia Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam in 2019 but was promptly “fact-checked” by Davis. At the time, Northam suggested that in some rare instances of third-trimester abortions, a baby could be born alive and a “discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother” about what to do.

“There is no state in this country where it is legal to kill a baby after it’s born,” Davis sternly responded to Trump at the debate.

TRUMP’S DEFAMATION LAWSUIT AGAINST ABC, GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS CAN MOVE FORWARD, JUDGE RULES

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America says the ABC moderator was “inaccurate” and should correct the record.

“This is 100% inaccurate. Her statement tragically ignores the reality of babies who survive failed, late-term abortions but are denied basic medical care and left to die,” Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America president Marjorie Dannenfelser wrote in a letter to ABC bigwigs.

ABC News did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Meanwhile, Dana Walden, a senior Disney executive whose portfolio includes ABC News, is one of Harris’ “extraordinary friends,” according to a report in the New York Times. Walden and Harris have known each other since 1994, while their husbands, Matt Walden and Doug Emhoff, have known each other since the 1980s.

ABC told the New York Times that Walden, who is Disney’s highest-ranking television executive, does not weigh in on editorial decisions. She has donated to dozens of Democrats and has contributed to Harris’ political campaigns since at least 2003.

‘Shark Tank’ star warns over the ‘most horrific outcome’ of VP Harris’ tax plan

Vice President Kamala Harris’ tax policies could cripple the U.S. economy – especially when it comes to capital growth and upholding the coveted American dream, according to “Shark Tank” star Kevin O’Leary.

The O’Leary Ventures chairman schooled the Democratic presidential nominee and warned of the “multiple effects” these policies would have, not only for business, but for Americans on a personal level.

“Taxes will go up with their proposals,” he said on FOX Business’ “The Big Money Show” Thursday, also adding “she’s admitting that, she’s not denying it.”

“That’s a debate that’s going on in terms of the classic, ‘make the rich pay their fair share,’” he continued. “That’s a narrative that goes into every single election cycle.”

O’LEARY SOUNDS OFF ON HARRIS’ ‘INSANE,’ ‘UN-AMERICAN’ PROPOSALS AHEAD OF ANTICIPATED CNN INTERVIEW

While Trump and Harris have both highlighted new tax provisions in their 2024 plans, Harris’ campaign website listed policies that include: quadrupling the tax on stock buybacks; imposing a 25% “minimum” tax on wealthy households; and increasing taxes on capital gains and dividends for households making more than $1 million from 20% to 28%.

However, O’Leary, also known as “Mr. Wonderful,” stressed over the implications of Harris setting the corporate tax rate at 28%.

“The more concerning one for the economy, not just personal taxes, is corporate tax rates. That, at her proposed 28%, would put the U.S. economy in an uncompetitive position.”

O’Leary continued pointing out that higher corporate tax rates would potentially drive business and investment out of America.

“Last time we did this to ourselves, we started to see dislocation of headquarters moving to places like Ireland and other lower tax jurisdictions,” he explained. “That, we shouldn’t do. That’s a mistake for either party. That’s a huge mistake.”

Using the G7 and G20 meetings, where global leaders meet regularly to discuss top geopolitical issues, as examples, O’Leary further clarified his position.

“We’re right in the middle, right now, in the G7, G20. So if all of a sudden we start charging [a] 28% corporate tax rate, plus add on state [taxes], in some cases, you’re in the 30 [percentile] and that’s just not competitive anymore in terms of the G20 or G7.”

“That’s, to me, the most horrific outcome, and I’m very nervous about that,” O’Leary said.

Nonetheless, despite who is elected to the White House come November, O’Leary claimed policy “uncertainty” is a major concern.

“This [is] a policy-lite election. I’m disappointed that Harris doesn’t give us more policy specifically on taxes, specifically on corporate taxes. I need to know that. So does everybody else,” he said, also emphasizing that higher corporate taxes create fewer opportunities to create capital.

“Remember, this is the No. 1 economy on Earth… 50% of capital invested worldwide comes here. We don’t want to do anything to change that,” he said.

Hollywood star gushes over ‘gorgeous’ A-list actress: ‘I just love her’

John Travolta has his eyes on a new collaboration.

In a snippet from an upcoming appearance on a new podcast called “Beyond the Sale,” hosted by real estate moguls Shane Spiteri and Kirsty Cunningham, Travolta gushed over a certain Australian actress when asked about his dream co-star.

“Margot Robbie… oh my god, one can only dream,” he can be heard saying in a sneak peek from the episode, obtained by the Daily Mail. “I just love her, and she was in one of my favorite series called ‘Pan Am.’”

JOHN TRAVOLTA HONORS LATE WIFE KELLY PRESTON ON MOTHER’S DAY WITH SWEET THROWBACK VIDEO

He went on to share that he actually met the actress at the Academy Awards in 2022, when he was able to express just how much he loved her on the show. He said he told her “it was so good, you were so good.”

Robbie appeared in the short-lived series as flight attendant Laura Cameron for one season, before making a bigger name for herself in Hollywood with roles in “The Wolf of Wall Street,” “The Suicide Squad” and “Barbie.”

Travolta asked her when they met, “I heard you always wanted to be a flight attendant?” and was taken aback when she responded with “No! I always wanted to be a pilot!”.

“Margot Robbie… oh my god, one can only dream. I just love her, and she was in one of my favorite series called ‘Pan Am.’”

— John Travolta

The actor has famously been a certified pilot since the age of 22 and has taken aviation lessons since the age of 15. He recently received his license to pilot a Boeing 737. He used his knowledge of planes to give Robbie some constructive criticism on one of her films.

“I said, ’You know in your movie [‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’] there was a mistake in it,'” he said on the podcast. “The Pan Am 747 didn’t start service until January ’70, but (the movie is set in) the fall of ’69, and Leo DiCaprio is flying to Europe in a 747 – it wouldn’t have been possible.”

Travolta was impressed by Robbie’s response to him pointing out the mistake, saying she was not defensive, but instead was curious about how the film’s director, Quentin Tarantino, would react to hearing about his mistake.

“Instead of defending it, she was much more fascinated with how Quentin would respond to it,” he explained. “And she wanted to be a pilot – both of those things made me like her even more – and, she’s gorgeous, just breathtaking.”

For many fans, Travolta is irrevocably tied to another blonde Australian actress – the late Olivia Newton-John. The two starred in the 1978 classic “Grease” together, and maintained a close friendship up until Newton-John’s death in 2022.

“My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better,” Travolta wrote on Instagram after she passed. “Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!”

Vacationers could face massive fines for bringing multiple suitcases on trains

Vacationers traveling on a railroad in Europe may be subjected to fines if they exceed the baggage limit as some countries grapple with overtourism.

In February, French National Railways (SNCF) announced there would be new limits on the amount and size of luggage on trains with the enforcement beginning on Sept. 15.

GREECE TO IMPOSE TAX FOR CRUISE VISITORS ON POPULAR ISLANDS TO COMBAT OVERTOURISM

“Our customers, but also our agents, may find themselves faced with safety problems on board (falling suitcases), traffic difficulties, or a lack of space,” an SNCF spokesperson told Fox News Digital via email.

“Because the spaces on board remain the same for an ever-increasing number of passengers in recent years,” the spokesperson added.

The limits vary based on the train, but for most high speed rails there are only two options for luggage.

Passengers can either bring one hand luggage and two suitcases or one hand luggage, suitcase and a specific item such as an instrument or sports equipment.

“If customers do not respect the maximum authorized quantities and dimensions, agents will inform them that they will have to pay an amount of €50 per non-compliant or excess baggage, or a fine of €150 if the baggage is inconvenient or dangerous,” said the spokesperson.

Hand luggage can measure a maximum of 40 x 30 x 15 centimeters, while suitcases can measure up to 90 x 70 x 50 centimeters, according to the SNCF site.
