Polling analyst delivers stunning update on VP Harris’ advantage in previous poll

NBC national political correspondent Steve Kornacki said that some polling numbers for Vice President Kamala Harris have “completely reversed” in recent days.

Harris was once touted by many of her supporters as the inevitable winner of the 2024 election, but with less than a month before the election, the race appears to be a dead heat. NBC “Today” host Savannah Guthrie discussed how recent polling shows the race “deadlocked.”

Guthrie then did a deep dive on the numbers with Kornacki and said, “I mean, the top line is the 5-point advantage that Kamala Harris had in our last poll is gone. What’s behind that shift?”

TRUMP TAKES LEAD IN 6 OUT OF 7 BATTLEGROUND STATES IN RECENT POLLING

Kornacki agreed, contrasting previous polling that took place after the first Trump-Harris debate versus now, amid Harris’ media blitz. The polling showed Trump had risen from 44% to 48%, whereas Harris had declined from 49% to 48%.

In one noteworthy poll, however, Harris had declined significantly, as Kornacki noted “some things that have changed in that time. I think this might be the biggest for Harris.”

“We just asked the basic image perception people have, is it positive or negative of these candidates? The Trump number’s always been somewhere in this territory,” he said as he gestured at Trump having a 43% positive and 51% negative rating. “In fact, this is a little bit high for him, believe it or not.”

IF 2024 POLLING ERRORS MIRROR THOSE IN 2020 ELECTION, TRUMP ‘WINS IN A BLOWOUT’, WARNS CNN DATA GURU

But he said that Harris’ numbers have notably changed.

“But look at Harris, 43 positive, 49 negative. The significance, we polled this a month ago. She was 48% positive and 45 negative. She was above water, as they say. That’s completely reversed. It now looks very similar to Trump’s. That’s a pretty big shift when you’re talking about a race this close,” he added.

He then noted further polling indicating that only a quarter of families say Biden-era policies are helping their family, whereas 45% say they are “hurting” them.

“And then here’s the interesting twist. We also asked folks, ‘Think back to when Donald Trump was president. Did his policies help or hurt your family?’ And look at the difference, 44% helping, 31 hurting. Trump’s — the retrospective, you would say, opinion of Trump’s presidency among voters, arguably higher now than when he was president,” Kornacki said.

Pop star suffers onstage mishap as singer falls through trapdoor

Pop star Olivia Rodrigo shocked fans when she fell through a stage trapdoor while performing.

Rodrigo, 21, was running across the stage when she fell into an opening in the floor at her “Guts World Tour” stop in Melbourne, Australia, on Monday.

“Oh my God, that was fun,” the “drivers license” singer told the crowd before adding, “I’m okay!”

“Sometimes there’s just a hole in the stage,” Rodrigo added. “That’s alright.”

Rodrigo is no stranger to onstage mishaps. The musician was in the middle of her song “Love is Embarrassing” during the London stop on her tour when her black crop top popped open in the back.

Rodrigo held the piece of clothing in place and continued singing as a dancer tried to help refasten it.

As she sang, she commented mid-song “This is f—ing embarrassing!” with a bit of a laugh, playing off the song’s chorus, “God, love’s f—in’ embarrassing.”

Rodrigo originally gained fame while starring in the Disney Channel shows “Bizaardvark” and “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.”

The actress went on to release her debut album, “SOUR,” in 2021. With the release of her single, “drivers license,” Rodrigo became the youngest solo artist to debut at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

She went on to release “deja vu,” which charted in the top 10 before she landed another number one with the release of “good 4 u.”

“I always thought of myself as a singer/songwriter who fell into acting and really liked it, rather than a child actor who’s like, ‘Oh, I’m going to try to be a pop star now,'” she explained in a 2021 interview with Clash.

Aaron Rodgers throws incredible Hail Mary pass, ignites social media

Aaron Rodgers has a knack for making wild Hail Mary touchdown throws and he did it again on Monday night against the Buffalo Bills right before halftime.

After Bills quarterback Josh Allen threw a touchdown pass to Dawson Knox, Rodgers only had about 14 seconds to even have a legitimate shot at making the long throw for a touchdown. He completed a pass to Garrett Wilson to get the ball to their own 48-yard line.

Rodgers took the snap on the next pass and threw it deep to a group of Jets receivers in the end zone. He found wide receiver Allen Lazard for the 52-yard touchdown. Lazard jumped up for the ball and grabbed it in between a handful of Jets defenders.

It was the fourth Hail Mary touchdown pass of Rodgers’ career, playoffs included.

The play was the talk of the NFL world.

Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott told ESPN the team needed to bat the ball down on that play.

The Bills took a 20-17 lead into halftime.

Rodgers was 13-of-17 with 192 passing yards and two touchdown passes in the first half. He had the other one to Garrett Wilson in the first quarter. Wilson made a nifty toe tap to complete the catch.

Buffalo scored on three of its first four drives. Allen started the scoring with a 1-yard rush with 6:12 left in the first quarter. He then found Mack Hollins in the second for an 8-yard touchdown pass with 6:54 left in the second quarter. The Knox touchdown pass gave the Bills some comfort room before Rodgers’ miraculous pass.

2 men injured in assassination attempt against Trump make first public comments

The two men who survived the assassination attempt on former President Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, are placing the blame squarely on the Secret Service.

James Copenhaver, 74, and David Dutch, 57, sat down with NBC News for an interview that aired Monday to share their experiences and the emotions they went through. Dutch said his anger overrode everything else.

“I was more mad about it than anything,” Dutch said. “I mean, I was in the service, went through a war, didn’t even get a scratch. And yet, go to a rally and you get shot at in the crowd.”

Asked what he was specifically mad about, Dutch said: “The security.”

NBC POLLING ANALYST SAYS KAMALA HARRIS’ 5-POINT ADVANTAGE IN PREVIOUS POLL IS ‘GONE’

Copenhaver, who now walks with a cane, said he realized something was wrong when “I saw part of my sleeve go away and heard [gunshot noises].”

“I heard it distinctly and then I turned around to my friend and said, ‘I think I was shot,’” he said.

Both men were injured by gunfire after a lone gunman opened fire on Trump from a nearby rooftop just minutes into the Republican candidate’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. Trump’s ear was grazed as he ducked to avoid the hail of bullets, but the gunfire struck multiple attendees, including Corey Comperatore, who died while shielding his family from bullets.

Copenhaver was shot twice: one bullet tore into his tricep, while the other is still lodged in his body, leaving him with nerve damage – something likened to somebody “taking a cigarette and burning right” in his leg.

The bullet that struck Dutch split his liver. He compared it to getting hit with a “sledgehammer right in the chest.”

“I could feel my ribs were all busted up,” Dutch told NBC News.

HARRIS DOUBLES DOWN WITH ‘INDIGENOUS PEOPLES’ DAY’ POST AMID OUTRAGE OVER COLUMBUS DAY RHETORIC

The assassination attempt put the Secret Service under intense scrutiny for its failure to detect the threat and prevent it from happening. The scrutiny heightened after Trump survived yet another assassination attempt by a lone gunman who was spotted hiding in the shrubbery near Trump’s golf course in Florida where the former president was playing a round.

Asked if he believed the Secret Service failed them and the president in Butler, Dutch replied: “Oh yes, big time.”

“It was a rush job. It was put together too quickly, and they skipped steps,” Copenhaver said.

On Sunday, a man was arrested on gun charges outside Trump’s Coachella rally in California. The man, 49-year-old Vem Miller, told Fox News Digital he reported the guns to authorities. He said he always travels with the guns, but never uses them. He argued that documents Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco said were fake are legit.

His arrest on gun charges sparked speculation, following two assassination attempts on Trump since July. But he was quickly released on $5,000 bail and so far, no federal charges have been filed.

Diddy accused of sexually assaulting a minor at star-studded ‘white party’

Sean “Diddy” Combs was accused on Monday of sexually assaulting a minor at one of his infamous white parties, according to a new lawsuit obtained by Fox News Digital.

The disgraced Bad Boy Records billionaire allegedly took interest in a 16-year-old boy, “John Doe,” at one of his Hamptons events, where Diddy told the plaintiff he had “the look” and could transform anybody “into a star.”

At the star-studded event, Doe spotted “countless celebrities and A-Listers who form the music and entertainment industry. He recognized faces he had seen on TV and on the big screen,” the lawsuit stated. According to the complaint, “Doe took a picture with Combs at the 1998 party.”

DIDDY ALL SMILES IN COURT BEFORE PROSECUTORS HINT AT NEW CHARGES IN SEX TRAFFICKING CASE

“Mr. Combs’ legendary white parties in the Hamptons were well known by many, including John Doe. The kind where countless celebrities would attend,” the suit stated. “In 1998—when John Doe was only 16 years old—he was recruited out of New York City, and indeed while residing in New York City received an invitation to one of Combs’ parties through a mutual connection.”

“When he received the invitation, he felt like he finally had the opportunity to rub shoulders with the who’s who of the industry. He thought it could be his chance to break into the music industry.”

NICK CANNON ADMITS HE PARTIED WITH DIDDY AS A TEENAGER: ‘GOT NOTHING TO HIDE’

Over the years, Diddy was known for throwing lavish affairs for his affluent entertainment buddies as a summer send-off over Labor Day weekend. The white parties began in 1998 at his Hamptons estate on Hedges Banks Drive, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and quickly grew into events in St. Tropez and Beverly Hills.

Of the first-ever white party, Paris Hilton told the outlet, “I remember the first party he threw in the Hamptons. It was iconic and everyone was there.”

Doe alleged his “pleasant conversation” with Diddy took an “unexpected turn for the worst” when Combs allegedly told the minor that he “needed to drop his pants.”

“John Doe, caught completely off guard, confusingly asked Combs to repeat himself,” the lawsuit stated.

“Combs made himself clear. He instructed John Doe to drop his pants and expose his penis so that Combs could inspect it, explaining it was a rite of passage and the route to becoming a star, and also as a way to prove himself. ‘Don’t you want to break into the business?'”

WATCH ON FOX NATION: WHAT DIDDY DO?

Doe claimed he “immediately felt uncomfortable, froze and did not know what to do” while the mega-producer allegedly “remained calm and stood in front of him and stretched out his hand in a cupped position.”

“Out of fear, anxiety and the imbalanced power dynamic between himself and Combs, John Doe then dropped his pants and exposed his penis as Combs previously instructed,” the lawsuit stated. “Combs moved closer and grabbed John Doe’s penis and genitals with his hand. He firmly cupped and held onto John Doe’s genitals for an extended period of time.”

Diddy then allegedly let go of Doe’s genitals, told Doe that “his people would be in touch” and continued with the party “as if nothing had happened.”

“John Doe eventually recognized Combs sexually assaulted him by and through his power and influence over John Doe because he knew John Doe wanted to become a star,” the lawsuit claimed.

Houston attorney Tony Buzbee represented the victim and a number of additional plaintiffs who filed suits Monday against the disgraced music mogul. Buzbee last week acknowledged during a press conference that more than 100 accusers reportedly came forward alleging “rape, sexual assault and sexual exploitation” claims against Diddy, with more minors involved in lawsuits, which have yet to be filed.

DIDDY FACES NEW SEXUAL ABUSE LAWSUIT ALLEGATIONS FROM 120 ACCUSERS, WITH CLAIMS INVOLVING 9-YEAR-OLD: LAWYER

“The press conference and 1-800 number that preceded today’s barrage of filings were clear attempts to garner publicity,” Combs’ legal team said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital. “Mr. Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts, their legal defenses, and the integrity of the judicial process.  In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone—adult or minor, man or woman.”

His legal team last week also denied the claims levied against the “Last Night” singer.

“As Mr. Combs’ legal team has emphasized, he cannot address every meritless allegation in what has become a reckless media circus,” Combs’ attorney, Erica Wolff, stated. “That said, Mr. Combs emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors. He looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court, where the truth will be established based on evidence, not speculation.”

Buzbee claimed the alleged abuse began as early as 1991, with reported incidents happening into 2024. Alleged victims, who are scattered around the country in states including California, Florida, Georgia and New York, came forward after Diddy was indicted by federal prosecutors.

Diddy was arrested and charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution in an indictment unsealed on Sept. 17. If found guilty, he faces a minimum of 15 years behind bars or a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Authorities alleged Combs ran a criminal enterprise through his businesses, including Bad Boy Entertainment, Combs Enterprises and Combs Global, among others. He used “firearms, threats of violence, coercion, and verbal, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse” to fulfill his sexual desires, according to the unsealed indictment obtained by Fox News Digital.

Combs and his employees would “intimidate, threaten, and lure female victims into Comb’s orbit, often under the pretense of a romantic relationship. Combs allegedly then used force, threats of force, and coercion, to cause victims to engage in extended sex acts with male commercial sex workers that Combs referred to as, among other things, ‘Freak Offs.'”

Judge Arun Subramanian scheduled Diddy’s trial to begin on May 5. The prosecution expects the government’s case to take three weeks to lay out, while Diddy’s legal team estimated needing one week to argue the rapper’s defense.

Iconic hardware brand files for bankruptcy — acquisition to rival in the works

Wholesale hardware supplier True Value has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is aiming to be sold by the end of the year to rival Do It Best.

True Value retail stores, which are independently owned and operated, are not part of the bankruptcy, and the wholesaler said it will continue to supply products to those 4,500 locations. The iconic brand has been around for 75 years.

True Value, which sells hardware, tools, lumber, plumbing and heating supplies, and other home improvement goods, has between $500 million and $1 billion in total liabilities, according to its Chapter 11 petition in Delaware bankruptcy court.

WALMART CEO: WE’RE KEEPING ‘OUR EYE ON VALUE’ AND HELPING PEOPLE ‘SAVE MONEY’

“After a thorough evaluation of strategic alternatives, we determined that the sale of our business was the path forward to maximize value and best serve our retail partners and other stakeholders into the future,” said Chris Kempa, True Value’s CEO

“We believe that entering the process with an agreed offer from Do it Best, who has a similar decades-long history in the home improvement space and also operates with a focus on supporting members and helping them grow, is the most beneficial next step for True Value and our associates, customers, and vendor partners,” Kempa added.

7-ELEVEN SHUTTING DOWN NEARLY 450 UNDERPERFORMING STORES ACROSS NORTH AMERICA

Fort Wayne, Indiana-based Do It Best agreed to serve as a “stalking horse” bidder for True Value’s assets, which means that True Value remains open to higher offers. Do It Best agreed to pay $153 million in cash, take on about $45 million in contracts and other obligations, and hire some True Value employees.

“A successful acquisition of True Value assets would represent a strategic milestone for Do it Best and home improvement retailers around the world,” said Dan Starr, Do it Best president and CEO. “Do it Best has a proven track record of driving profitability through the most efficient operations in the industry. This acquisition, if consummated, would provide True Value and independent hardware stores the strongest opportunities for growth for years to come.”

Giant meat supplier to Costco, Target and more recalls meat over contamination fears

Millions of Americans may be impacted by a 10-million pound meat recall affecting hundreds of products across major retailers, according to a newly-released document.

BrucePac, a company based in Oklahoma, began recalling 9,986,245 total pounds of its ready-to-eat meat and poultry last week. Fears about listeria contamination prompted the recall.

Consumers who don’t recognize the company may think they’re in the clear — but the chicken was distributed in hundreds of different products.

The USDA recently released a 326-page document of all the products affected by the recall, listing hundreds of different items that may contain contaminated meat.

CONSUMERS ASKED TO THROW AWAY MILLIONS OF EGGS AS FDA UPGRADES RECALL STATUS TO MOST SERIOUS CATEGORY

BrucePac distributes its ready-to-eat meat to a variety of food sellers, from 7-Eleven to Costco to Target and more.

For example, El Monterey Mexican Grill Chicken and Cheese Taquitos with a variety of lot codes and best-by dates are included in the recall.

Certain lots of frozen Trader Joe’s Chicken Chow Mein are also included, as are Good and Gather brand Chicken Tikka Masala products with a lot code of SO58227.

Only items with certain best-by dates or lot codes are affected. Consumers are urged to consult the document and carefully check the list of recalled products.

FDA ANNOUNCES RECALL OF DIPPING SAUCE DUE TO ‘POTENTIAL MOLD GROWTH CONTAMINATION’

The recall began after Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) product testers working under the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) found that a product with BrucePac ready-to-eat chicken tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes, the bacteria that causes listeria.

Listeria infection can be deadly for older Americans, pregnant women and consumers with weakened immune systems. Listeriosis sufferers may experience symptoms such as “fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms,” the FSIS said.

As of Monday, there have been no reports of illnesses or deaths caused by the recalled products — but officials still urge consumers to check their fridges and freezers for any recalled food.

Consumers and retailers are also asked to check the FSIS’s website for future updates and, if needed, to return or destroy their recalled products. The recall page is found here.
