LIVE Donald Trump addresses supporters in Pennsylvania after polling slump

Republican candidate Donald Trump is hosting a rally in Pennsylvania this morning, his first since a shock poll found Kamala Harris could win Iowa, a state previously regarded as safely red.

Ms Harris has taken a three-point lead over Donald Trump in Iowa, according to a survey taken by a respected pollster.

The research, by Ann Selzer for the Des Moines Register, puts Ms Harris on 47 per cent of the vote in the state and Trump on 44 per cent.

The result suggests that Iowa, which is considered a safe Republican state, is closer than analysts had previously expected.

Mr Trump has been scrambling to distract from the now week-long scandal around his rally at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden in which warm-up speakers alienated Hispanics and women with racist and sexist language.

None of Trump’s Sunday events take place in areas with large Hispanic populations but Pennsylvania is the swing state with the most Puerto Ricans, a community particularly angered by the bigotry at Mr Trump’s rally.
