President-elect Trump reacts to President Biden’s surprise decision to pardon Hunter
President-elect Trump reacted to President Biden’s surprise decision to pardon his son Hunter on Sunday.
Biden’s move to pardon – a decision he previously claimed he would not make – turned heads across the country. In a Truth Social post on Sunday night, Trump suggested that Biden should have pardoned Jan. 6 protesters.
“Does the Pardon given by Joe to Hunter include the J-6 Hostages, who have now been imprisoned for years?” Trump wrote. “Such an abuse and miscarriage of Justice!”
The Trump transition team also reacted to the pardon for Hunter Biden.
BIDEN WON’T PARDON HUNTER, WHITE HOUSE REAFFIRMS, BUT CRITICS AREN’T SO SURE
“The failed witch hunts against President Trump have proven that the Democrat-controlled DOJ and other radical prosecutors are guilty of weaponizing the justice system,” Trump’s incoming White House communications chief Steven Cheung said in a statement to Fox News.
“That system of justice must be fixed and due process must be restored for all Americans, which is exactly what President Trump will do as he returns to the White House with an overwhelming mandate from the American people.”
Earlier on Sunday, Biden accused Republicans of unfair treatment and claimed Hunter was “treated differently” by prosecutors. Hunter Biden was convicted of three felony firearm offenses in a Delaware trial earlier this year, and then pleaded guilty to multiple felony tax offenses in September.
“From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted,” the president’s statement read.
TRUMP NOMINATES KASH PATEL TO SERVE AS FBI DIRECTOR: ‘ADVOCATE FOR TRUTH’
“Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form,” he continued. “Those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions, but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties, are typically given non-criminal resolutions.”
Biden also evoked Hunter’s battle with substance abuse and asked Americans to “understand why a father and a President would come to this decision.”
“There has been an effort to break Hunter – who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution,” the president continued. “In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me – and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough.”
NEW YORK JUDGE GRANTS TRUMP REQUEST TO FILE MOTION TO DISMISS CHARGES, CANCELS SENTENCING INDEFINITELY
Biden had previously denied any intent to pardon his son after Hunter was convicted earlier this year.
“I am not going to do anything,” Biden said after the conviction. “I will abide by the jury’s decision.”
Trump previously told Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin that, if elected, he “wouldn’t do anything that would be overt” regarding Hunter Biden’s cases, calling the first son’s legal woes “a sad situation.”

“I’ll bet you the father probably pardons him,” the Republican remarked. “Let’s see what happens. But he’s a bad boy.”
Senator Sanders makes big admission when it comes to DOGE goal: ‘Elon Musk is right’
Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., appears to be in favor of the newly-established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), after slamming the Pentagon’s budget and failed audits on social media and admitting, “Elon Musk is right.”
President-elect Trump tapped Musk and former GOP presidential primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to lead DOGE in an effort to stop the government’s wasteful spending.
Sanders addressed the wasteful spending on Sunday in a post on X.
“Elon Musk is right,” he wrote. “The Pentagon, with a budget of $886 billion, just failed its 7th audit in a row. It’s lost track of billions. Last year, only 13 senators voted against the Military Industrial Complex and a defense budget full of waste and fraud. That must change.”
ELON MUSK SAYS THERE’S SUBSTANTIAL IGNORANCE ABOUT AMERICA’S NATIONAL DEBT
Musk responded to Sanders’ post with two American flags.
Sanders did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
The post comes as Musk continues to bash government spending on social media.
For example, he shared a post from DOGE’s X account about the California High Speed Rail Project, which was projected in 2008 to cost $33 billion, and now is projected to be between $88.5 and $127.9 billion. The post also said the estimated completion date was 2020 and, as of 2024, nobody has been transported and the majority of the railway has not been designed. The project received $6.8 billion in federal funding. The project team is now requesting another $8 billion in federal funds.
ELON MUSK WANTS TO MEET ALEX SOROS — AND SOROS SAYS HE’S OPEN TO IT
Musk wrote in a repost, “The government needs to stop wasting your hard-earned money!”
In another post shared by Musk, he is seen speaking in front of an American flag.
“The interest that we owe on our national debt is now higher than the defense budget. Over a trillion dollars and growing. The country is going to go bankrupt,” he said. “That’s why we need the department of Government Efficiency, D.O.G.E., on a brass plaque on a desk.”
Even last week, Musk said a significant percentage of people do not even know there is such a thing as a national debt.
US NATIONAL DEBT HITS A NEW RECORD: $36 TRILLION
“Those that do often don’t know how big it is or that our interest payments now exceed what we spend on our military. Only a small % understand that government overspending causes inflation,” he said on X.
The national debt has soared past $36 trillion.
“America is going bankrupt fast,” Musk warned in another post.
“The excess government spending is what causes inflation! ALL government spending is taxation. This is a very important concept to appreciate. It is either direct taxation, like income tax, or indirect via inflation due to increasing the money supply,” he asserted in a tweet earlier this month.

Trump said in a statement that DOGE “will provide advice and guidance from outside of government and will partner with the White House and Office of Management & Budget to drive large-scale structural reform and create an entrepreneurial approach to government never seen before.”
In a Wall Street Journal opinion piece, Musk and Ramaswamy noted that they will work “as outside volunteers, not federal officials or employees.”
MSNBC internal drama appears to spill out in the open, analyst says he’s going to get ‘in trouble’
Former lawmaker and MSNBC analyst David Jolly appeared to take a shot at MSNBC hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski on Friday while talking about how Democrats should move forward.
“We didn’t wake up after the election and think, I’m upset because I was wrong. We’re upset because we know we’re right, but we’re on the losing side of this battle. And so what does that mean for a responsible media, for a responsible electorate, for a responsible Democratic Party in this environment?” Jolly began. “Don’t just say we’re going to give equity to Donald Trump, which some people are doing in the Democratic Party, in media, among the electorate.”
Brzezinski and Scarborough revealed to their viewers that the pair met with President-elect Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago in the weeks following his win.
“No, that’s absolutely wrong. You can’t do that. Forgive me for saying this. You can’t go to Mar-a-Lago. You can’t do it. That’s going to get me in trouble. You can’t do that. You have to hold Donald Trump accountable for being wrong. You have to hold all of his allies accountable for being wrong, even if that means you’re in a losing environment and you’re threatening your own liberty and your own security as an American,” Jolly said.
LIBERALS RAGE AGAINST ‘MORNING JOE’ ‘BETRAYAL’ AFTER CO-HOSTS MEET WITH TRUMP: ‘WE WILL NOT FORGIVE’
Scarborough and Brzezinski said during the show that it was time to start engaging with Trump.
“But for nearly 80 million Americans, election denialism, public trials, January 6, were not as important as the issues that moved them to send Donald Trump back to the White House with their vote. Joe and I realize it’s time to do something different, and that starts with not only talking about Donald Trump, but also talking with him,” Brzezinski said.
Brzezinski and Scarborough have been some of Trump’s biggest critics in media in the last few years. Trump said after the meeting that it went well.

Brzezinski said she was surprised by the backlash to their meeting during a podcast interview.
“I’ve been surprised at the backlash, and the way I look at it is, people are really scared,” she said on “The Daily Beast Podcast.” “It’s one of the reasons we went in there, is people are really scared about Donald Trump’s comments about political adversaries, a lot of people are scared because of what has happened with abortion. These are all issues that are important to me and in some ways personal to me, but definitely personal to the people I really care about.”

Jolly encouraged Democrats to “double down” in holding Trump accountable.
“The only answer is to double down in holding Donald Trump and his allies accountable and double down on trying to present a democracy that represents all people, even in a losing environment,” he said.
Fight erupts on NFL field after huge hit, star QB carted away, another player ejected
A huge hit on Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence from Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair sparked a brawl during their game on Sunday.
Lawrence scrambled on first down with just over 4 minutes to play in the half. He tried sliding to avoid the hit, but as he went down, Al-Shaair launched into Lawrence’s head and neck area. The quarterback was down for a bit and Jaguars players came over to dole out some of their own kind of justice toward Al-Shaair.

Al-Shaair was also seen getting into it with Jaguars offensive lineman Brandon Scherff. Both players had to be held back.
As the dust cleared, penalties were handed out. Al-Shaair and Jaguars cornerback Jarrian Jones were both ejected from the game. Jaguars tight end Evan Engram was hit with an unnecessary roughness penalty.
RAVENS STAR ADMITS ‘TALL TASK’ STOPPING SAQUON BARKLEY THIS WEEK, BUT DERRICK HENRY COULD BE THE SOLUTION
Lawrence was able to sit upright and left the game on a cart. He was 4-for-10 with 41 passing yards and an interception in the game.
The Jaguars ruled him out with a concussion.
Houston led 6-0 at that point.
The Texans were looking to rectify an upset loss at the hands of the Tennessee Titans last week. They entered the game with a 7-5 record.

World’s largest gold-producing nation finds deposit worth $83 billion, breaking record
What is being dubbed as the largest gold deposit in the world has been found in China, state outlet Xinhua news said.
The gold reserves are worth 600 billion yuan, according to Reuters, which amounts to $83 billion U.S.
The discovery was made by geologists with the Hunan Provincial Geological Institute about 12 miles beneath the surface in the Asian country’s Pingjiang County, Xinhua reported, according to the New York Post.
The area of the discovery of 40 gold ore veins with a total of 300.2 tons of gold resources is known as the Wangu goldfield.
COSTCO GOLD BARS SELLING OUT QUICKLY AS BULLION PRICES RISE: SURVEY
Hunan Academy of Geology forecast that there were more than 1,000 tons of gold reserves at a depth of over 3,000 meters, according to Xinhua.
China is the world’s largest gold producer, accounting for around 10% of global output in 2023, data from the World Gold Council showed.
CENTURIES-OLD GOLD TREASURE RECOVERED BY FLORIDA AUTHORITIES AFTER BEING STOLEN
Prior to the discovery, the title of the largest gold reserve in the world went to the South Deep gold mine in Gauteng Province, South Africa, the Post states. It holds about 930 metric tons of gold.
In October, prices for gold futures had risen over 32% year to date and more than 38% in the past year, setting a number of new all-time highs in the process.

One ounce of gold is currently going for nearly $2,674.
Investors have turned to gold as a safe haven from a variety of geopolitical risks in the past year, including the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine. Uncertainty surrounding the direction of U.S. economic policy after the election, as well as the Fed’s rate-cutting plans and long-term trajectory of the growing national debt have also bolstered investment in gold.
US seeing surge in migrants from one country crossing at border with Canada
Attempted border crossings by illegal immigrants from Indian nationals have surged at the U.S. border with Canada in recent years.
Nearly 44,000 Indian nationals attempted to cross the U.S.-Canadian border illegally in fiscal 2024, up from about 30,000 in fiscal 2023 and 17,331 in fiscal 2022, according to the most recent numbers from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection data portal.
Indian nationals were the most commonly encountered nationality at the northern border among those tracked last fiscal year, representing roughly 22% of the 198,929 total land border encounters at the U.S.-Canada border in fiscal 2024.
TRUMP BOASTS OF ‘VERY PRODUCTIVE MEETING’ WITH CANADIAN PM TRUDEAU AT MAR-A-LAGO
The latest numbers come as President-elect Trump prepares to take office for a second time, with renewed promises of border security being one of the former president’s favorite selling points on the campaign trail.
Trump met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida on Friday, with Trump saying the two leaders had a “very productive” conversation, including talks about border security.
“We discussed many important topics that will require both countries to work together to address, like the fentanyl and drug crisis that has decimated so many lives as a result of illegal immigration, fair trade deals that do not jeopardize American workers and the massive trade deficit the U.S. has with Canada,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Saturday.
“I made it very clear that the United States will no longer sit idly by as our citizens become victims to the scourge of this drug epidemic, caused mainly by the drug cartels, and fentanyl pouring in from China. Too much death and hardship!”
MEXICAN PRESIDENT MIGHT BE CHANGING VIEW ON US AS TRUMP WIN SENDS WARNING TO RULING SOCIALISTS
The Canadian government has already moved to stiffen its border policies amid strained relations with the U.S., according to a September Financial Times report, starting with a rollback of its permissive worker visa program.
“U.S. lawmakers are calling to harden the northern border with Canada because of the fears of illegal migration from Canada,” Glenn Cowan, the founder and chief executive of the security company One9, told the Financial Times. “Stemming the flow of these visas will bolster U.S. relations.”
That work could become more important as the Canadian government prepares to once again work with Trump, who in the past has threatened to impose tariffs on both Canada and Mexico.

Trump did not say on Saturday whether such tariffs were still on the table after his talks with Trudeau, though he made clear the two leaders also discussed energy, trade and relations in the Arctic.
“All are vital issues that I will be addressing on my first days back in office, and before,” Trump said.
