Court rules in favor of deportation flights in win for incoming Trump admin
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) can continue using a Seattle airport for chartered deportation flights in a win for incoming President-elect Trump’s administration, a federal appeals court ruled.
The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling rejected a 2019 local executive order that sought to counter then-President Trump’s immigration policies, saying that King County, Washington violated its contract by prohibiting deportations at King County International Airport, which is also known as Boeing Field.
The court ruled that the order was unlawful because it discriminated against ICE and targeted federal operations. In 2019, Trump used Boeing Fields to deport illegal migrants from the U.S. and the local county sought to block the president’s removal operations.
MIGRANT ACCUSED OF VIOLENT CRIMES ARRESTED BY ICE AFTER MASSACHUSETTS COURT REFUSED TO HONOR DETAINER
The order prompted ICE to begin using an airport in Yakima, Washington — a much longer drive from ICE’s Northwest detention center— for the deportation flights.
“The relocation increased operational costs due to the greater distance from ICE detention facilities to the airport. It also led to increased security concerns,” the ruling noted.

In response, a legal battle with King County ensued. The U.S. in 2020 sued the county, alleging that it violated the terms of a World War II-era contract that guarantees the federal government’s right to use the airport along with discriminating against ICE.
DEM GOVERNOR THREATENS TO USE ‘EVERY TOOL’ TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST TRUMP-ERA DEPORTATIONS
In a ruling on Friday, Nov. 30, 9th Circuit Judge Daniel A. Bress upheld the court’s decision. In the ruling, obtained by Fox News Digital, he wrote that, “this is not a situation in which King County officials are being conscripted into carrying out federal immigration laws on the federal government’s behalf.”
“Instead, the United States is asking King County, in its capacity as the owner of a public airport facility, to lift a discriminatory prohibition on private parties’ ability to engage in business with the federal government that supports federal immigration efforts,” the ruling states.
The new order also calls for transparency around any deportation flights.
The airport now offers a conference room where the public can observe deportation flights on a video feed, and the county posts a log of deportation flights from the airport on its website.
The ruling is a win for the incoming Trump administration. The president-elect has vowed to initiate deportation efforts on his first day back in office.
His promise was cemented by his pick of “border czar,” Tom Homan.
“If you don’t want to work with us, then get the hell out all the way. We’re going to do it,’ Homan recently said.
DENVER MAYOR MIKE JOHNSTON SAYS TRUMP’S MASS MIGRANT DEPORTATIONS WILL CREATE ‘TIANANMEN SQUARE MOMENT’
Trump’s election has prompted blue city officials to voice their opposition against Trump’s deportation efforts. Denver Mayor Mike Johnston said that he is prepared to go to jail in opposition to Trump’s plans.
The governors of Illinois, Arizona and Massachusetts have said that they also won’t assist the administration in the operation.
In Illinois, Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker promised to uphold sanctuary status, boldly declaring, “If you come for my people, you come through me.”
Arizona’s Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs said her state will not be helping in what she called a “misguided” plan.

“What I will unequivocally say is that, as governor, I will not tolerate efforts that are part of misguided policies that harm our communities, that threaten our communities, that terrorize our communities, and Arizona will not take part in those,” Hobbs said.
Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey insisted that Massachusetts state police would “absolutely not” help the Trump administration’s planned deportations.
‘Obama bros’ lash out at Biden ‘lying’ and making Dems ‘look stupid’ with Hunter pardon
Three former aides to President Obama railed against President Biden for “lying” and making his defenders “look like they’re full of s—” by pardoning his son Hunter after previously saying he would not do so.
Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett and Tommy Vietor, who were often referred to as the “Obama bros” during their tenure in the White House, discussed the ramifications of Biden’s pardon of his son, on their “Pod Save America” podcast on Tuesday.
Vietor said he understood Biden’s decision on a “human level,” but was frustrated that the president had made his defenders within the Democratic Party look “stupid” by reneging on his pledge not to pardon his son.
“Now everyone looks stupid. Everyone looks like they are full of s—,” Vietor said. “And Republicans are going to use this to argue it was politics as usual when Democrats warned of Trump’s corruption or threat to the rule or the threat to democracy. And I think that’s the piece of this I am most frustrated with, which is Joe Biden looking like a typical, lying politician. And I think that leads to a cynical feeling that all politicians are bad. They are all the same and that this is just par for the course.”
TAPPER SAYS BIDEN LYING ABOUT PARDONING HUNTER MAKES HIS ADMIN AND ALLIES ‘EITHER CREDULOUS OR COMPLICIT’
Biden had “damaged his own reputation” and “damaged the Democratic Party’s reputation,” Vietor added.
Fellow co-host Jon Favreau called it “most infuriating” that Biden chose to pardon his son and not “a whole bunch of other people who were just government servants doing their job,” such as Dr. Anthony Fauci.
Favreau said he believed Biden when he said he would not pardon his son and now he felt like a “fool.”
“I believed him. I feel like a f—ing fool, that’s what makes me mad about it,” he admitted.
The president’s pardon came after the first son was convicted in two separate federal cases earlier this year.

The younger Biden pleaded guilty to federal tax charges in September, and was convicted of three felony gun charges in June after lying on a mandatory gun purchase form by saying he was not illegally using or addicted to drugs.
The pardon spares Hunter Biden from his upcoming sentencing in the two cases, but also covers all potential crimes he “has committed or may have committed” from Jan. 1, 2014 to Dec. 1, 2024.
Lovett feared the sweeping pardon would give Republicans ammunition to argue that Biden was acting to protect himself from allegations he profited from his son’s business dealings when he was vice president.
“Of course, conservatives are going to say, ‘See? Joe Biden is just protecting himself,'” Lovett remarked.
The former Obama aides said there was no evidence that Biden profited but the appearance of it was damaging to the Democratic Party’s reputation, nonetheless.
Biden should’ve framed the pardon as a proactive measure against concerns President-elect Donald Trump would target his political enemies, Lovett argued.
The White House did not respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

Netanyahu reacts after Trump warns of ‘hell to pay’ if Hamas doesn’t free hostages
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says President-elect Donald Trump is in the “right place” when it comes to his warning of there being “hell to pay” if Hamas doesn’t release their remaining hostages.
“President Trump put the emphasis in the right place, on Hamas, and not on the Israeli government, as is customary [elsewhere],” Netanyahu said Tuesday at the beginning of a cabinet meeting, according to Reuters.
Trump on Monday called on Hamas to release all hostages prior to when he takes office on Jan. 20.
In a Truth Social post, Trump said nothing was being done to free those being held by the Iran-backed terror group since Oct. 7, 2023, after Hamas attacked Israel and killed more than 1,100 people and kidnapped at least 250 others. Of the 101 hostages that remain in Gaza, seven are Americans.

“Everybody is talking about the hostages who are being held so violently, inhumanely, and against the will of the entire World, in the Middle East – But it’s all talk, and no action!” Trump wrote.
“Please let this TRUTH serve to represent that if the hostages are not released prior to January 20, 2025, the date that I proudly assume Office as President of the United States, there will be ALL HELL TO PAY in the Middle East, and for those in charge who perpetrated these atrocities against Humanity,” Trump added.

“This is the way to bring back the hostages: by increasing the pressure and the costs for Hamas and its supporters, and defeating them, rather than giving in to their absurd demands,” Reuters quoted him as saying.
President-elect Trump’s pick to lead DEA withdraws from nomination
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister withdrew his name for consideration as President-elect Trump’s nominee to lead the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
“To have been nominated by President-Elect @realDonaldTrump to serve as Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration is the honor of a lifetime,” Chronister wrote in a post on X.
“Over the past several days, as the gravity of this very important responsibility set in, I’ve concluded that I must respectfully withdraw from consideration. There is more work to be done for the citizens of Hillsborough County and a lot of initiatives I am committed to fulfilling,” Chronister continued.
He said he appreciated the nomination and support from the American people and that he’s looking forward to continuing his work as sheriff.
THOMAS MASSIE, CONSERVATIVE COMMENTATORS VOCALLY OPPOSE TRUMP’S DEA NOMINEE
District 1 County Commissioner of Lake County Anthony Sabatini called Chronister stepping down a “huge win for liberty.”
TRUMP NOMINATES FLORIDA SHERIFF CHAD CHRONISTER TO LEAD DEA
“This sheriff ordered the arrest of a pastor for holding services during the COVID panic. He was tapped by Trump to head the DEA. Glad to see him withdraw from consideration. Next time politicians lose their ever-lovin minds, he can redeem himself by following the Constitution,” Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., wrote in a post on X after the sheriff’s announcement.
Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., spoke to Fox News after Chronister’s withdrawal and defended the sheriff.
“What disqualifies somebody? We all make mistakes throughout life, right? I haven’t talked any details on that yet. But as far as someone making a mistake in their past, give us an example of anybody that hasn’t made a mistake in the past,” Mullin said.
Chronister faced backlash from multiple conservative figures for arresting a pastor for violating COVID rules.
The Rev. Rodney Howard-Browne was arrested in March 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Announcing the arrest of Dr. Ronald Howard-Browne, Pastor of The River at Tampa Bay Church, who intentionally and repeatedly disregarded state and local public health orders, which put his congregation and our community in danger,” Chronister noted in a tweet at the time.
“We’re hoping that this serves as a deterrent,” Chronister said during a 2020 news conference. “Shame on this pastor, their legal staff and the leaders of this church for forcing us to do our job. That’s not what we wanted to do during a declared state of emergency.”
The charges were later dropped.
Conservative commentator Liz Wheeler called on Trump to undo his selection after the nomination.
“Chad Chronister is a COVID tyrant who arrested a Christian pastor for holding church in person during the pandemic. Chronister held a press conference bragging about the arrest. Chronister abused his power; he’s unfit to lead the DEA. Trump should withdraw his nomination,” Wheeler wrote in a previous post on X.
In a previous statement to Fox News Digital on Monday, Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, said, “We don’t need authoritarians who refuse to use discretion and protect the Constitution – no matter which party is in power.”
Despite his arrest, Howard-Browne threw his support behind Chronister, sharing a video on X alongside the sheriff.
“Chad Chronister has been my friend for many years, through good times and challenges,” Howard-Browne said in a message, directed to Trump, that he shared publicly on X.
“I truly believe he acted with the intention of doing the right thing, and I’ve witnessed firsthand how he has learned and grown from those experiences. Shortly after my arrest, Sheriff Chronister called me and told me he truly missed our friendship. We met for dinner at my house, and we were able to restore the friendship we had, one I will always cherish,” he continued.

Chronister was appointed by then-Florida Gov. Rick Scott to head the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in 2017, and he has been re-elected twice.
NYC mayor says he’ll work with Trump to deport illegal immigrant criminals
New York City Mayor Eric Adams revealed on Tuesday that he is open to meeting with incoming Trump border czar Tom Homan to develop solutions to take on illegal immigrant criminals, and he dismissed criticism from the left, telling critics to “cancel me.”
Adams was asked at a press conference about whether he would meet with Homan, who was picked by President-elect Trump to lead the mass deportation operation he intends to launch after he is sworn into office.
Adams stressed the city’s openness to immigrants and emphasized the work being done to help migrants apply for Temporary Protected Status and work authorization, as well as services including case management for migrants. He said it has now seen a 21-week decrease in migrant arrivals.
TRUMP BORDER CZAR HOMAN SAYS HE’LL MEET WITH NYC MAYOR ADAMS TO ADDRESS MIGRANT CRISIS: LETS ‘GET THIS DONE’
“But we cannot ignore … the fact that the American people have communicated to us loudly and clearly: We have a broken system. They want to fix, and we need to fix our immigration system,” he said.
He said he has reached out to Homan and said he would like to speak to him: “I’m not going to be warring with this administration, I’m going to be working with this administration. President Trump is the president-elect. And whomever he chooses to run his agencies. I’m looking forward to sitting down and see how do we better New York.”
“I would like to speak with our border czar and find out what his plans are. Where our common grounds are, we can work together. And I strongly believe, my history is sitting down with those across the aisle with different ways of thinking and sit down and share my ideas,” he said. “I believe I have some ideas that could deal with this issue, and we can reach what the American people have been saying to us: secure our borders, address the people who are committing violent acts in our country and make sure that … our citizens are going to be safe.”
In another part of the press conference, he said those who are in the country illegally who are otherwise law-abiding “should not be rounded up in the middle of the night.”
But he said that it was different for criminal illegal immigrants.
NYC ENDS TAXPAYER-FUNDED PREPAID DEBIT CARD PROGRAM FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS
“Those are the people I am talking about. And I would love to sit down with the border czar and hear his thoughts on how are we going to address those who are harming our citizens.”
As to his critics from the left on the issue, Adams pointed to past remarks by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former President Obama, who he said had called for the deportation of criminal illegal immigrants, and brushed off what he said was “cancel culture.”
“Well, cancel me, because I’m going to protect the people of this city, and if you come into this country, in this city, and think you’re going to harm innocent New Yorkers and innocent migrants and asylum seekers, this is not the mayor you want to be in a city under,” he said.
Adams has been sounding the alarm about the impact that the border crisis has had on New York City, including the billions that it has cost the city. He has repeatedly called for additional support from the federal government. He said on Tuesday that the city has so far seen $6.4 billion spent on the migrant crisis.
‘TRUE!!’: TRUMP CONFIRMS SUPPORT FOR MAJOR STEP IN MASS DEPORTATION PUSH TO ‘REVERSE THE BIDEN INVASION’
While New York City is a sanctuary city – meaning local police are not allowed to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) requests to hand over illegal immigrants after they are released from custody – Adams has increasingly backed away from that stance.
He has called for changes that allow those suspected of major crimes to be turned over to ICE, something that is not currently allowed under the sanctuary policies.

Homan, meanwhile, is open to a meeting with Adams.
“I’m willing to meet with him, and I’m willing to meet with anybody to help make their communities safer,” Homan said Monday on “America’s Newsroom” after being contacted by the Adams administration.
“Prioritization out of the gate is public safety threats; work with us on that. It makes your community safer. It keeps my officers safe. It keeps the community safe. Let’s work together and get this done.”
House Dems mock Americans who can’t afford groceries in ‘tone deaf’ social media post
Conservatives ripped a social media account associated with House Democrats on Tuesday over a deleted post suggesting the economy is strong and seemingly minimizing the struggles of those who have difficulty affording groceries.
“And here we were thinking y’all couldnt afford eggs!” the Ways and Means Democrats posted on X on Tuesday with a screenshot of an X post from journalist Paul Brandus that said, “Record air travel, holiday shopping busting records, stock market at all-time highs. The economy is ‘the worst ever,’ some Pollyannas whine.”
The post, which has since been deleted by the Ways and Means Democrats, sparked backlash from conservatives on social media.
“What an embarrassing thing to post … wow,” Abigail Jackson, communications director for Republican Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley, posted on X, “and Dems wonder why they lost.”

Humpty Dumpty cracked in despair, ‘These prices, these prices, they’re too much to bear!’ Democrats laugh, they don’t seem to care, But we’re stuck paying more for eggs in high-cost despair!”
“This is really what Democrat staffers on Capitol Hill think of the American majority who just rejected their policies after causing the worst inflation crisis our country has seen,” conservative commentator Amanda Head posted on X. “This is just how out-of-touch they are!”

“And people wonder why the Dems lost…,” Meredith Schellin Turton, digital director for House Speaker Mike Johnson, posted on X.
“Americans have been struggling for FOUR YEARS to afford basic necessities and House Democrats are mocking them,” Johnson posted on X. “Talk about your all-time out of touch, disgraceful comments.”
“House Dems deleted the tweet below in which they mocked people for complaining about the price of eggs, and also thought they were dunking on Republicans because there was record high spending on Black Friday,” Washington Free Beacon reporter Chuck Ross posted on X.
Fox News Digital reached out to House Ways and Means Democrats for comment but did not receive a response.
A Gallup poll released in the lead-up to the presidential election showed 52% of Americans believed they and their families are worse off today than they were four years ago.
The polling powerhouse noted that participants’ responses to whether they felt “better off” were typically tied to the U.S. economy.
Gallup’s monthly economic confidence index, which ranges from -100 to +100, registered at -26, with 39% saying they were better off financially four years ago.

During the past three years, Americans have named inflation as the most important financial problem facing their families. The survey’s findings suggest that inflation is an underlying fear of many Americans’ perception of the economy despite generally low unemployment and steady economic growth.
Approximately 46% of Americans say their current economic conditions are “poor,” some 29% described them as “only fair,” while 25% said they were “good” or “excellent.”
Additionally, 62% said the economy is “getting worse,” while 32% said in the survey that it is “getting better.”
Top red state official rallies behind governor signing ‘bathroom bill’ into law
EXCLUSIVE: Ohio’s Republican lieutenant governor is defending his state’s recent enactment of a “bathroom bill” preventing biological males from using female bathrooms and says it is part of a cultural shift in the country where Americans are uniting on the issue.
“It’s a sad situation that in this time in life that we actually need to pass a law that says that boys should go to boys’ bathrooms and girls should go to girls’ bathrooms,” Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted told Fox News Digital.
“But that indeed is the case because we have colleges and some high schools where they blurred the lines. And we need to make sure that there are safe places, particularly for young women, to go to the bathroom, be in a locker room, be in a safe place,” Husted said. “And it’s truly unbelievable that we had to pass a law to guarantee that. It’s just hard to believe that there are adults in this world who think it would be OK for boys, biological boys, to be in girls’ locker rooms.”
Husted was reacting to news that Ohio’s Republican Gov. Mike DeWine signed the Protect All Students Act, dubbed the “bathroom bill,” after the state Senate passed the bill 24-7 on a party-line vote.
SPEAKER JOHNSON ANNOUNCES NEW CAPITOL BATHROOM POLICY IN RESPONSE TO CONTROVERSY OVER TRANS HOUSE MEMBER
The bill applies to public K-12 schools and institutions of higher education. It requires schools to designate separate bathrooms, locker rooms and overnight accommodations “for the exclusive use” of either males and females, based on one’s gender assigned at or near birth, in both school buildings and facilities used for a school-sponsored event.
Husted told Fox News Digital the bill represents “common sense.”
“People really are just shocked that anyone thinks it’s OK that you would have a bathroom, that a biological male could go into a female bathroom and that you could have a locker room where a biological male could go into a female locker room,” Husted said.
“It’s just common sense in most people if you go around Ohio. That’s what everybody’s going to say to you is like, how can this really be? How can a high school do this? Well, I can assure them that I know that is indeed the case because the high school that my own daughters attend has bathrooms that boys and girls are allowed to be in at the same time,” he continued. “They have non-gendered bathrooms.”
ACLU VOWS TO OPPOSE TRUMP POLICIES ON LGBT ISSUES, ABORTION AND DEPORTATIONS
“That was something that the community fought against, that the school board then filed lawsuits so they could get variances to the building code to build bathrooms like this. And despite all of that opposition, they still went forward with it. But now we have a new law. We have a law in the state of Ohio that will protect against those kinds of things from happening.”
Ohio became the 12th state to pass an iteration of a bathroom bill and while critics like the ACLU and LGBT activist groups have voiced opposition and suggested they will challenge the law in court, Husted told Fox News Digital he is confident the bill will withstand any legal challenge.
“It’s on solid legal ground,” Husted said. “They went through the hearing process, went through the process of addressing all those questions before drafting the bill and passing it and sending it to the governor’s desk.”
“I’m 100% confident that this will stand any legal scrutiny… I want to reiterate this. It is unfortunate that we need to pass a law because the adults in the lives of these children and young women should be clearly standing up for them. They shouldn’t, we shouldn’t have to pass a law. This is common sense,” Husted continued.
Husted told Fox News Digital the bill is “about protecting the privacy of girls” and “trying to make sure that they have safe places to be” and said Americans across the United States, of both parties, are starting to unite as part of a “cultural shift” on the issue of protecting biological girls in schools and in sports.
“There absolutely was,” Husted said about the cultural shift. “Look, that was part of the last election that was run and there were hundreds of millions of dollars across the country in the presidential and congressional races spent on that. Donald Trump or Republicans would stand for you and not ‘they/them.'”

“We all saw the ads. We all know that they were part of the conversation this last election, that people don’t believe that biological men should play women’s sports. They don’t believe that biological men should be in women’s locker rooms or bathrooms,” Husted said.
“That was clearly one of the major issues that divided Democrats and Republicans. Republicans are standing up for those protections. And I believe that you’re starting to hear even Democrats say, ‘Hey, maybe we ought to rethink this. Maybe we’re a bit out of line with this,’” he concluded. “And so I hope that in blue states that they can demonstrate that they want to protect women’s sports, they want to protect women in the privacy of bathrooms, in locker rooms. And this is exactly what I hope we’ll see across the country.”
Researchers unearth oldest gun in America, dating back almost 500 years
A firearm discovered in Arizona is what researchers believe to be the “oldest” ever found in the continental United States.
Excavations along the Santa Cruz River in Southern Arizona brought to light a bronze cannon, or a wall gun, used during the 1539-1542 expedition led by Francisco Vázquez de Coronado to the modern-day American Southwest.
The wall gun is the first ever to be found connected to the exhibition, according to research published in the International Journal of Historical Archaeology on Nov. 21, 2024.
9-YEAR-OLD BOY FINDS 60,000-YEAR-OLD AXE AT SHOREHAM BEACH IN ENGLAND
“This wall gun is the first gun known to be associated with the Coronado expedition and is the oldest firearm ever found within the continental USA, and perhaps the oldest cannon currently known on the continent,” Dr. Deni J. Seymour and her colleagues wrote in the study.
The exhibition was aimed at finding the riches of the rumored “Seven Cities of Cíbola,” according to the Oklahoma Historical Society.
Though Coronado did find landmarks like the Grand Canyon, he did not find the cities of treasure, according to Britannica, and was instead met with Indian settlements.
The firearm in Arizona was first found in the fall of 2020, at the settlement of San Geronimo III. It was found on the “floor of a Spanish stone-and-adobe structure,” according to the research.
A combination of radiocarbon dating and optically stimulated luminescence techniques were used as methods of dating the firearm back to the era of the Coronado expedition.

The firearm measures about 42 inches long and weighs 40 pounds.
It was likely cast in Mexico or the Caribbean, indicated by the simplicity in its design, the research said.
It was designed to be mounted on a wooden tripod, used to protect fortifications, according to the research.
A firearm like the one discovered could send lead balls flying over 700 yards.
This particular example was found unloaded, with no evidence found to show that it was ever fired.
It was seemingly abandoned at the settlement and left for hundreds of years. A probable reason why the gun was left behind is that the “town was attacked and rapidly abandoned,” the research suggests.
“This final blow seems to be the precipitating event that led to the abandonment of the wall gun, where it remained snugly encased in an eroded Spanish adobe-and-rock-walled structure [ruin] for 480 years,” researchers wrote.
Several other artifacts were discovered at the site, including pieces of broken swords and daggers, plus household items like fishhooks, clothing fasteners, pieces of copper vessels and more, per the research.
