Just over five years ago, the world watched in anguish as Notre Dame Cathedral, one of the most potent symbols of Christendom, was engulfed in flames. Not long after, Donald Trump would lose the 2020 election to Joe Biden, launching one of the most unpopular presidencies in modern history.
But, this weekend on the banks of the Seine, this glorious Medieval edifice and tribute to the Blessed Mother, stands in full repair, ready to guide the faithful for another thousand years.
And who is there to honor the occasion? None other than President-elect Donald Trump.
TRUMP RETURNS TO EUROPE FOR FIRST TIME FOLLOWING ELECTION WIN FOR NOTRE DAME’S REOPENING
Though the 45th, and soon to be 47th occupant of the Oval Office won’t be sworn in for another five weeks, for all the world it appears not only that Trump has already taken over, but that the issues he was elected to address already seem to be improving.
After months of sturm und drang over Trump’s tariff policy, the threat of a 25 percent levy on foreign goods has already led to some positive signs of compromise from Mexico on the border, and to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appearing at Mar-a-Lago, if not quite to kiss the ring, at least to beg to avoid the tariffs.
Trump will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris this weekend.
In Ukraine, where Biden’s fecklessness and slow drip of weapons has helped to create a meat grinder of a status quo, President Volodomyr Zelenskyy is, for the first time, talking about a peace deal in which Russia keeps some territory and Ukraine reserves the right to join NATO.
This is light at the end of a dark and deadly tunnel.
In the halls of Congress, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, Trump’s pied pipers of the Department of Government Efficiency, are on a charm offensive, wooing even some Democrats to their cost-cutting cause.
Even the soon-to-be President’s cabinet picks, after predictable freak-outs from the liberal media, are well on track, including Pete Hegseth and Kash Patel, tapped for the Defense Department and FBI respectively, who have thus far survived a tsunami of smears.
As the second Trump presidency zips down the runway preparing for takeoff, somewhere off in a ditch lies the smoldering carcass of Joe Biden’s Hindenburg of a tenure in office.
On Friday, an abjectly humiliated White House Press Secretary Karinne Jean Pierre tried to explain away her and her boss’ blatant lie that he wouldn’t pardon his son Hunter. Apparently, we were told, it wasn’t a lie, he just changed his mind.
Ok, KJP…
Let’s be clear, any press secretary with an ounce of dignity would have resigned after being paraded before the American public to deceive them over and over and over, but there she was, at the podium, being paid by the American people, and still lying.
The Biden administration is reportedly exploring ways that it can use the weeks leading up to Trump’s inauguration to sabotage his incoming administration, including preemptive pardons for potential targets of legitimate investigation and pumping out tons of foreign aid.

These last minute efforts to thwart Trump will come to nothing because, for all intents and purposes, Joe Biden is barely still even the president. This week at the White House tree lighting ceremony he looked like the Crypt Keeper, and his flickering administration has all the energy of a morgue.
It was in French Cathedrals during the late 11th Century that Peter the Hermit and Pope Urban II preached in favor of the First Crusade, uniting the West in a way that had never happened before, securing its permanence against foreign threats.
Saturday, before the soaring spires and flying buttresses, Donald Trump takes a place in that history, in that defense of the values that our ancestors brought from Europe to American shores.

Few people expected that Donald Trump would win the election so convincingly, far fewer predicted that such a victory would lead to optimism and unity, and yet, Trump is enjoying the highest favorability of his political career, and it simply feels like things are looking up.
In just five years, the people of France restored their beloved Notre Dame, not with modern twists, but just as it was, as it has always been. Trump only has four years to make his repairs to the cathedral we call the United States. But one thing is clear. He is off to a solid head start.

Press secretary uses poll to defend Hunter Biden pardon — and it immediately backfires
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre faced immediate backlash online after nearly doubling the number of Americans who purportedly approve of President Biden’s sweeping pardon for his son.
President Biden issued a sweeping pardon for Hunter Biden on Sunday after he had repeatedly said he would not do so. The first son had been convicted in two separate federal cases earlier this year. He pled guilty to federal tax charges in September, and was convicted of three felony gun charges in June after lying on a mandatory gun purchase form by saying he was not illegally using or addicted to drugs.
For over a year, the president and Jean-Pierre repeatedly insisted Hunter would not get a pardon.
In her first televised White House press briefing since the pardon, the press secretary was bombarded with questions from reporters.
In her defense of the pardon, Jean-Pierre appealed to the American people’s understanding of the “difficult” decision. While doing so, she cited a poll, the results of which were the opposite of what she claimed.
“I think it’s important to note here, as you’re asking me these questions — important questions to ask — that there was a poll, a U.S. Gov [sic] poll that came out that, some of you all reported on it,” she said.
“And it said 64% of the American people agree with the pardon — 64% of the American people. So, we get a sense of where the American people are on this. Obviously, it’s one poll, but it gives you a little bit of insight. Sixty-four percent is nothing to sneeze at,” she emphasized.
She later again said, “I called out the U.S. Gov [sic]. poll where 64% of Americans, that’s not a small number, agree with the president’s decision to pardon his son.”
The poll was from YouGov, not U.S. Gov, which does not exist.
But according to the poll, it was 64% of who supported the pardon. Of the American people, only 34% “strongly” or “somewhat” approved of the pardon, while 50% of Americans either “strongly” or “somewhat” disapproved.
HUNTER BIDEN SAYS HIS MISTAKES WERE ‘EXPLOITED’ FOR POLITICAL SPORT, SAYS HE WON’T TAKE PARDON FOR GRANTED
Social media users were quick to point out the error.
“She’s wrong,” Check Your Fact features editor Elias Atienza wrote. “The YouGov poll shows 64% of Democrats, not 64% of Americans, supported the pardon. 34% of Americans overall supported it, with 50% disapproving.”
RedState front-page contributor Bonchie said, “This is a psychotic level of lying. The kind of thing someone used to get shamed from polite society over. Of course, she’ll be on MSNBC by next year.”
“Why is she even up there?” Fox News columnist David Marcus asked.
TRUMP ASKS ABOUT ‘J-6’ HOSTAGES IN RESPONSE TO BIDEN’S PARDON OF HUNTER: ‘SUCH AN ABUSE’
The Chicks on the Right account asked if Jean-Pierre could turn a new leaf on her way out of the White House.
“Couldn’t you try to suck a little less during these last few weeks, @PressSec? Or just lie a little less? My GOD you’re awful. Just absolutely dreadful,” Chicks On The Right posted.
Trump 2024 deputy rapid response director Greg Price corrected the White House Press Secretary, “It’s pronounced YouGov and it showed 64% of Democrats approved of the pardon while just 34% did overall. Worst Press Sec ever.”
Social media strategist Chuck Callesto agreed, “She is the worst without doubt. Prove me wrong.”

“My gosh she literally got a poll backwards from the White House podium,” Republican communicator Matt Whitlock said. “She genuinely might be the worst Press Secretary in history.”
Personal finance guru gives message to Trump amid Cabinet backlash
As President-elect Donald Trump faces mounting resistance to some of his Cabinet nominees, financial expert and Ramsey Solutions founder Dave Ramsey has a clear message: Strong leadership means decisive action.
“There’ll be a time where you have to fish or cut bait,” Ramsey said about the Cabinet nominees during an appearance Wednesday on “Cavuto: Coast to Coast.”
“A leader that won’t stand beside their team and cover their back the first time something gets rough, sends a signal to the rest of the team that he’s not going [to] stand there.”
Ramsey’s advice comes as several nominees, including Secretary of Defense pick Pete Hegseth, Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi, and Treasury Secretary candidate Scott Bessent, work to secure Senate support amid intense scrutiny.
LARRY KUDLOW: HERE’S TO HOPING THE SENATE G.O.P. PUTS THEIR BIG BOY PANTS ON AND CONFIRMS TRUMP’S CABINET CHOICES
Ramsey emphasized the importance of maintaining a unified front:
“If I were in this situation, I’m going [to] back this until I make a decision not to,” he added. “I’m not going [to] waffle in the public eye. I’m going [to] do all this directly with the leader and decide whether we’re going [to] move forward or not together.”
The challenges are already evident. Two nominees – former Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz, initially tapped for attorney general, and Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister, considered for the Drug Enforcement Administration – have withdrawn. Despite this, Ramsey suggests Trump’s choices aren’t just about passing Senate scrutiny.
“I don’t think he picked them for Senate confirmation,” Ramsey said. “He picked them because their values align with where he wants to go.”
Loyalty, Ramsey believes, is a cornerstone of Trump’s selection process for this second Cabinet.
“He’s looking for people who, if they disagree with him, they’re going [to] disagree, they’re going [to] have a good healthy disagreement. But not someone who’s going [to] slit his throat from behind.”
Ramsey offered three critical questions for the president-elect as he evaluates his nominees:
“Are our values lined up? Is there an alignment on loyalty? Are they smart enough, skilled enough to do the job in front of them?”
These questions, Ramsey argues, should guide Trump’s decision-making as he navigates the political and media pressures surrounding his Cabinet picks.
Ramsey urged Trump to avoid letting external noise influence his decision.
“You can’t let the masses dictate your leadership. Because if you do, you’ll soon figure out that the ‘m’ is silent,” he said.
With a 53-seat Republican majority in the Senate, the Trump team can afford to lose only four votes per nominee. The stakes are high, and confirmation battles loom, but Ramsey’s advice underscores the need for clarity and resolve.

Ultimately, Trump’s ability to lead decisively and stay loyal to his team will set the tone for his administration’s success.
“Let the Senate deal with it,” said Ramsey.

Family announces ‘Duck Dynasty’ star’s devastating diagnosis
“Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
On Friday’s episode of “Unashamed with the Robertson Family” podcast, Phil’s son Jase revealed the diagnosis.
“Phil’s not doing well. I think I spoke on the 1,000th podcast, we were trying to figure out the diagnosis, but according to the doctors, he has some sort of blood disease causing all kinds of problems,” Jase said.
“It’s like accelerated, and it’s causing problems with his entire body. And he has early stages of Alzheimer’s. So, if you put those things together, he’s really not doing well. He’s struggling,” he continued.

Phil was a big part of the “Unashamed” podcast, but due to the decline in his health, he is literally “unable to sit down and have a conversation,” Jase revealed. He also noted that these days, his dad can barely walk around without “crying out in pain.”
“It’s like accelerated, and it’s causing problems with his entire body. And he has early stages of Alzheimer’s. So, if you put those things together, he’s really not doing well. He’s struggling.”
“He misses it. He misses the stories we tell,” Jase said of the podcast.
The “Unashamed with the Robertson Family” included Phil, Jase, Phil’s son, Alan, and Phil’s nephew, Zach Dasher.

Jase noted that the team of doctors told him and his family that “there’s no curing what” Phil has.
“We’re trying to make him a little more comfortable,” he noted.
In the podcast episode, Jase noted that the Robertson family is very appreciative of the prayers and support being sent Phil’s way.
Phil starred on “Duck Dynasty” from 2012 to 2017. He also founded the Duck Commander Company.
In 2013, A&E suspended the “Duck Dynasty” patriarch for equating gay people with hell-bound sinners in a GQ interview. A firestorm resulted among his legions of defenders who felt the star was being censored by the network, which later reinstated him.
In 2022, Phil released his book, “Uncanceled: Finding Meaning and Peace in a Culture of Accusations, Shame, and Condemnation.” It explored how today’s cancel culture can be faced with one’s Christian faith.
“The ones who attacked me, I didn’t hold it against them,” Robertson told Fox News Digital at the time. “They asked me a question about a particular sin, homosexual behavior. And they asked if I believed it was a sin. I thought to myself, that’s a weird question to ask someone, but I just quoted a Bible verse… I quoted what God had to say about that sin and nine other sins, but it was in the list of sins. . . . As we were doing ‘Duck Dynasty,’ the upper crowd at A&E decided to drop the axe on me without first looking into what went down.”
The suspension earned immediate praise from gay rights groups. Conservative fans argued that their viewpoints were often overlooked by Hollywood and the media. More than a half-million people liked an impromptu Facebook page demanding the show be boycotted until Robertson returned.
“They put me on what they called an indefinite hiatus,” Robertson explained. “I said, ‘I think I may be getting fired, right?’ Hiatus says you’re not part of the program anymore. After nine days they reinstated me, but we had all kinds of sponsors that just took off. They had made a mockery of what I said. All I did was quote a Bible verse. And as a result, they tried to cancel me. But it didn’t cancel me at all. I still love them. I don’t hate anyone.”
“The Bible teaches us to love thy neighbor, even with their mistakes,” he shared.
Robertson and his extended family were originally turned into TV and pop culture stars in 2012. “Duck Dynasty” set cable rating records for a non-fiction series.
After Robertson ruffled feathers, Season 5 of “Duck Dynasty” saw a significant audience fallout, The New York Times reported. The show officially came to an end in 2017 after 11 seasons.

Robertson said he has no regrets about doing the GQ interview.
“No regrets at all – none,” he said. “I just went on. I never called A&E and said, ‘What are you doing?’ I never said a word when they came to visit me about 10 days after this all went down. I said, ‘Guys, did y’all ever hear from me with some kind of irate phone call? ‘Cause you were firing me?’ They said, ‘Mr. Robertson, you never said a word.’ . . . I quoted a Bible verse that dealt with homosexual behavior.

“I just quoted the Bible verse that God had written through Paul the Apostle by the power of the Holy Spirit . . . I didn’t dream it off the top of my head. It didn’t go any further than that,” Phil said.
What happened when a country superstar abandoned fame and moved to middle America
Garth Brooks refers to the years raising his children out of the spotlight in Oklahoma as “life at its best,” but it didn’t come without its challenges.
In the country music star’s newly released book, “The Anthology Part IV: Going Home,” Brooks recalled being the most “lost” he’s ever been when uprooting his entire life and returning to where he was raised to “learn” how to be a father.
A little backstory: Brooks and his first wife, Sandy Mahl, were married from 1986 until they officially divorced in 2001. The former couple share three daughters: Taylor, August and Allie.
GARTH BROOKS ACCUSED OF SEXUAL ASSAULT AND BATTERY BY HIS MAKEUP ARTIST IN NEW LAWSUIT
On Oct. 26, 2000, Brooks decided to announce his retirement from music. He soon moved back to Oklahoma to raise his kids.
Storme Warren, a television and radio broadcaster of Brooks’ SEVENS Network, was there when Brooks announced his retirement during an emotional press conference.
“It was a big deal, and it was stirring, and we all sat there and went, ‘He just announced his retirement after ten years on top, ten years of being the biggest superstar on the planet,’” Warren said in Brooks’ book.
Dave Gant, who was a member of Brooks’ band, couldn’t believe that the star would walk away from his career.
“It was a big deal, and it was stirring, and we all sat there and went, ‘He just announced his retirement after ten years on top, ten years of being the biggest superstar on the planet.'”
“How could he walk away from that career and not ever want to do it again? But Mark Greenwood, our bass player, kept saying, ‘No, I don’t think we’re ever going back. I think he’s done,'” Gant shared.
Brooks wrote, “So, I announced my retirement and went to Oklahoma. That’s where you’re going to learn to be a dad, watch your marriage end, get as lost as you’ve ever been. How do you do that? Well, I sure didn’t know — I had to go through it in order to find out how to do it. It was one of those things.”
He continued, “More than anything else at that moment, I wanted to be a good dad, just one-tenth what my own dad was. My job before that was pretty easy. ‘Honey, I’d love to help with the kids, but I got to go out on a tour where people are going to be screaming my name, and everyone’s going to be trying to make me happy.’
“My God, it was my work, but I couldn’t blame not being a real dad on that anymore. Thanks to God and the people, we were more than financially secure, and these kids needed their own lives. They didn’t ask to come into this world, I asked for them to come into this world.”
The “Friends in Low Places” singer admitted, “My family had made a lot of sacrifices so that I could pursue my dream. Now it was my turn to make a few. And, as I found out in time, it was no sacrifice at all. It was another gift. But before the gifts could come through, I had to let some things go. I went into a kind of darkness I hadn’t known before.”
Throughout Brooks’ book, the country music star took a trip down memory lane back to the 14 years he spent in Oklahoma.
“When we first got out to Oklahoma, we stayed at Sandy’s parents. These were great people, people that I love. They were the only ones I really knew out there,” Brooks wrote, referring to his first wife’s parents.
“Sandy and I were going to make one last run at our marriage. Because, c’mon, you were married with your family present and in front of God, so you keep thinking it’s just got to work. Just one last go,” he wrote.
Even though the former couple couldn’t make things work, they stayed close.
“The thing that wasn’t going to end, of course, was the family. And what I came to learn was the person you are separating from is the person you need as your best friend in the process of ending a marriage. It’s the hardest time for that, but it’s the thing your family needs the most. And Sandy did that, for the situation, for the girls, and for me,” Brooks continued.

In his book, Brooks details his divorce with Mahl as the “roughest time” in his life. “And I hope it continues to be the roughest. I hope I never have anything worse than that era, right there. That hurt,” he wrote.
The former couple bought a piece of land in Oklahoma and both lived, separately, on the property. Brooks lived in a 700-square foot former bunkhouse for five years.
“Sandy and I started exchanging the kids everyday at six. For fourteen years we exchanged the kids everyday at six, because we didn’t think it was fair that they would have to live without their mom or their dad,” Brooks wrote.
“So, there I was, back in Oklahoma where I was raised, settled in and just getting ready for… I didn’t know what. I was going to start learning every other day at 6 p.m. And there was going to be a lot of learning.”
Later in the book, Brooks spoke again about his reasoning for stepping away from the spotlight for a time, writing, “A man will blame having to make a living for the times he wasn’t there for his family. We’ll do that to justify why we’re gone all the time. When you’re on the road playing shows, there’s sure no reading your kids to sleep — that’s right in the middle of the heart of everything.
“But I’m telling you, that reading kids to sleep thing, that’s the best part about parenting. I could not do it from the road. I finally had to stand up and say I wasn’t going to be a dad that saw my kids one weekend out of the month. I just wasn’t going to be. Because my dad wasn’t.”
He continued, “You just had to say, ‘Hey, look, as much as I love doing music, being a parent is a thousand times better. No offense to music.’ Anybody that’s ever been a parent knows there’s nothing that beats that. I could live without music for the rest of my life. I can’t life without my children for one second.”
In 2005, singer Trisha Yearwood and Brooks tied the knot.
Bryan Kennedy, a songwriter and musician who has worked with Brooks in the past, noted in his book that “Trisha Yearwood was the difference” in the star’s life.
“He’s the most genuine person I’ve met in the entertainment world, but he was in a new situation,” Kennedy wrote, referring to Brooks’ recent divorce and becoming a single father. “Trisha Yearwood was the difference in his life. He can always be himself around her. It would take them some years, but the greatest thing he ever did was marry Trisha.”

Brooks said, “There was no manual for what I was looking to build. The big thing for me, the savior that was on the horizon for me, would be Trisha, because she’s going to come in, and these girls are not only going to have a companion that is not their mom or their dad, but they’re going to have an example that lives with them.”
“How to treat people, how to be yourself, how to be independent. The little yellow house [what he called the home where he and his children, and later Yearwood, lived for a time in Oklahoma] was going to change when she walked into it. We were all going to change when she walked into that house,” he concluded.
Brooks and Yearwood have dealt with controversy this year.
In October, the country music star was accused of sexually assaulting “Jane Roe” in 2019 during a work trip, according to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital. Per the documents filed by “Jane Roe,” the woman was first hired in 1999 to do the makeup and hairstyling for Brooks’ wife, Yearwood. She began working for Brooks doing makeup and hair in 2017, a couple of years before the alleged events took place.
Brooks, 62, has denied the allegations and amended his complaint against “Jane Roe” in an Oct. 8 filing obtained by Fox News Digital. The “Much Too Young” singer accused the woman, who he named in the filing, of attempted extortion, defamation, false light invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Dream vacation destination bans Airbnb rentals in travel industry crackdown
Vacationers and short-term rentals using lockboxes in Italy will have to find a new way to check in after a new nationwide ban.
This new security push now requires hosts to identify guests in person instead of remote verification as a result of the rampant tourism in the country.
“At Airbnb we take security very seriously and recognize the importance of adhering to local regulations and ensuring the safety and security of all parties involved,” a spokesperson for Airbnb told Fox News Digital via email.
ROME COULD CHARGE ENTRY TO HISTORIC LANDMARK IN LATEST ATTEMPT TO TACKLE OVERTOURISM
“That is why we support cities in their effort to boost in-person hospitality, cracking down on illegal Key Boxes in public spaces through educational campaigns and encouraging our community to prioritize in-person guest welcoming.” the spokesperson continued.
Self check-ins are convenient for hosts and guests to coordinate and “manage arrivals in a flexible way and adapt to occasional unexpected changes in travel plans,” the spokesperson said, adding, “They’re used all around the world and combined with our guest identity verification, they have also provided high security standards.”
Lockboxes or key boxes are typically left on doors with a code for guests to check in without the need to meet the hosts face-to-face.
Now, tourists must meet with their hosts before entering a short-term rental property, as instructed by the Italian Interior Ministry.
ITALY’S ANCIENT POMPEII PARK CRACKS DOWN ON DAILY VISITORS TO COMBAT OVERTOURISM
“The need has arisen to implement stringent measures aimed at preventing risks to public order and safety in relation to the possible housing of dangerous persons and/or persons linked to criminal or terrorist organizations,” Vittorio Pisani, Italy’s police chief, said, according to Barron’s.
The timeliness of the self check-in ban is partially due to a series of important events in the upcoming months that will bring more tourists to Rome, including the 2025 Jubilee, also known as the Holy Year for the Catholic Church.
The sacred event begins on Dec. 24 when Pope Francis opens the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.
In 2023, there were 36 million tourists visiting the Lazio region, where Rome is located, according to the Roma Capitale annual statics report.
ITALY EXPECTED TO DRAW TRAVELERS BY THE MILLIONS AS POPE FRANCIS KICKS OFF HOLY YEAR
“The need to implement stringent measures aimed at preventing risks to public order and safety in relation to the possible accommodation of dangerous people and/or people linked to criminal or terrorist organizations emerges,” the Department of Public Security stated in a circular published online, via translation.
“To this end, it is considered appropriate to fully examine and provide clarifications regarding the critical issues connected to the established procedure of ‘remote identification’ of guests of short-term accommodation facilities through electronic transmission of copies of documents and access to accommodation with an automated opening code, or through the installation of key boxes at the entrance.”
Without officially identifying guests, the Department of Public Safety fears that the procedure currently in place is not up to safety standards.
Airbnb is working with the Italian government to come up with a solution that is focused on the safety of all parties involved.

Meanwhile, the Snack Wrap has been missing from McDonald’s menus since it was discontinued in 2016.
The exact date of its return remains under wraps for now.
Burger King and McDonald’s did not immediately respond to inquiries from Fox News Digital seeking comment on the wrap battle.
In other fast food news, McDonald’s USA President Joe Erlinger apologized earlier this week for the E. coli outbreak that killed one person and sickened more than 100 others in 14 states.
Erlinger also said that McDonald’s is no longer working with the supplier of the raw slivered onions used in Quarter Pounders that led to the outbreak, according to comments he made to “Good Morning America.”
