Audio captures moments after packed Delta plane flips upside down on runway

Air traffic control audio released on Monday shows the tense moment officials realized that Delta Connection flight 4819 was burning on the tarmac of Toronto Pearson Airport.

The flight, which involved a CRJ-900 jet operated by Endeavor Air, crashed while landing at the Canadian airport at around 2:15 p.m. on Monday. 80 people, including 76 passengers and 4 crew members, were on board at the time.

No one was killed in the crash, though at least 18 injuries were reported, including three critical injuries. At roughly 2:13 p.m., an official was heard saying, “This airplane just crashed.”

“Just so you’re aware, there’s people also walking around the aircraft there,” an observer says moments later.

PLANE CRASHES SPARK RENEWED FEAR OF FLYING: 10 CAUSES OF AVIATION DISASTERS

“Yeah, we’ve got it,” a man is heard responding. “The aircraft there’s upside down and burning.”

The flight left Minneapolis-St. Paul airport earlier that day. Operations at Toronto Pearson Airport paused in the wake of the incident, though departures and arrivals resumed at around 5 p.m.

Of the three critically injured patients, one was a four-year-old child taken to The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. The two other patients were taken by air ambulance to two different trauma centers in Toronto: Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center and St. Michael’s Hospital.

Peel Regional Paramedic Services Superintendent Lawrence Saindon told Fox News Digital that among the critical injuries, none were life-threatening.

“The remaining ones are all walking wounded, with cuts and scrapes, nothing serious at all,” Saindon said.

In a statement on X, Delta said that its primary focus is “taking care of those impacted,” and CEO Ed Bastian issued a statement expressing sympathy for those affected by the flight.

TORONTO PLANE CRASH TIMELINE: DELTA FLIGHT FROM MINNEAPOLIS FLIPS UPSIDE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND

“The hearts of the entire global Delta family are with those affected by today’s incident at Toronto-Pearson International Airport,” Bastian’s statement read. “I want to express my thanks to the many Delta and Endeavor team members and the first responders on site.”

Olivia Chow, Mayor of Toronto made a statement on X to express her relief and thank the first responders.

“I’m relieved to learn that all passengers and crew are accounted for after today’s plane crash at Toronto Pearson. Thank you to the first responders, crew and airport staff for their quick actions and commitment to keeping everyone safe. For more updates, follow @torontopearson,” Chow wrote.

Emergency response expert Jason Pack told Fox News Digital that the incident highlights how Canadian officials react differently in these situations than Americans.

“Canada’s emergency response system shares many similarities with other countries, but also key differences in how first responders work together,” Pack noted, adding that Canada’s airport firefighters are “highly specialized” in aircraft emergencies.

“[Canadian] paramedics use a structured triage system to sort and transport patients to trauma centers,” Pack added. “However, unlike in the U.S., where firefighters often double as paramedics, Canada keeps these roles separate, meaning EMS teams must arrive in large numbers to handle medical care.”

Acting head of Social Security abruptly quits after clash with DOGE over data

The acting head of the Social Security Administration (SSA) quit her job over the weekend after butting heads with the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), over efforts to access certain sensitive government records, according to reports.

The Washington Post reported that three people familiar with Michelle King’s departure said on Monday that she stepped down from her position after the disagreement.

In response to King’s departure, President Donald Trump reportedly appointed Leland Dudek to lead the agency as the president’s nominee to serve as commissioner of the SSA, Frank Bisignano, is vetted by federal lawmakers.

Principal Deputy Press Secretary at the White House, Harrison Fields, said they expect Bisignano to be “swiftly confirmed in the coming weeks.”

ELON MUSK SAYS MILLIONS IN SOCIAL SECURITY DATABASE ARE BETWEEN AGES OF 100 AND 159

“In the meantime, the agency will be led by a career Social Security anti-fraud expert as the acting commissioner,” Fields said without naming the replacement. “President Trump is committed to appointing the best and most qualified individuals who are dedicated to working on behalf of the American people, not to appease the bureaucracy that has failed them for far too long.”

The three individuals who spoke to the Washington Post on the condition of anonymity, reportedly told the publication that Dudek posted positive remarks about DOGE’s efforts to seek out fraud and cut costs across federal agencies.

The SSA did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on the matter.

DEMOCRATS LOVED IDEA OF DOGE BEFORE TRUMP, WHITE HOUSE QUIPS

Musk is leading DOGE to aggressively slash government waste when it comes to federal spending under President Trump. The department was created via executive order and is a temporary organization within the White House that will spend 18 months carrying out its mission.

One of the department’s most recent targets is the SSA, which was created by the Social Security Act under President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1935 and tasked with establishing a federal benefits system for older Americans.

As DOGE continues to find fraud and wasteful spending at SSA, Musk turned to X on Monday to say millions of people listed in a Social Security database are recorded as centenarians “with the death field set to FALSE!”

TREASURY DEPARTMENT RECOUPS $31 MILLION IN IMPROPER GOVERNMENT PAYMENTS TO DEAD PEOPLE

“According to the Social Security database, these are the numbers of people in each age bucket with the death field set to FALSE! Maybe Twilight is real and there are a lot of vampires collecting Social Security,” Musk posted, adding a couple of rolling on the floor laughing emojis.

His post features a chart indicating there are more than 20 million listed with ages 100 and higher, including more than 3.9 million in the 130-139 age range, more than 3.5 million in the 140-149 range and more than 1.3 million in the 150-159 range.

Elon Musk describes seeing ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’ at dinner party

Billionaire Elon Musk said he didn’t realize “Trump Derangement Syndrome” was a real thing until he was at a friend’s dinner party a month or two before the Nov. 5, 2024 presidential election.

“I happened to mention the president’s name and it was like they got shot with a dart in the jugular that contained like methamphetamine and rabies,” Musk said in a joint interview with President Donald Trump that airs Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 9 p.m. EST on “Hannity.”

Musk imitated people at the party going crazy and questioned why they couldn’t have a normal conversation.

‘WASTEFUL AND DANGEROUS’: DOGE’S TOP FIVE MOST SHOCKING REVELATIONS

“It’s like they’ve become completely irrational,” he told Fox News host Sean Hannity.

Musk and Trump sat down for a wide-ranging interview last week at the White House, where they discussed the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) work, the first 100 days of the Trump administration and more. It marks the duo’s first joint television interview.

The DOGE leader and the 47th president held a news conference at the Oval Office last week, taking questions from reporters about the unofficial government agency’s role in the Trump administration and its plans to cut “waste, fraud and abuse” at the federal level.

NATO chief says European countries have agreed to change after Trump demand

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said European countries in the military alliance have agreed to step up their defense spending in the wake of President Donald Trump’s request that they increase the number to 5% of GDP.

“Right now, we are spending $700 billion more on the European side of NATO than before President Trump came into office. It is absolutely still not enough. We have to do much, much more,” Rutte said Monday in an exclusive interview on “The Story.”

“The U.S. is by far the most important ally within NATO, but the U.S. is absolutely right that it is only fair that on the European side of NATO, we ramp up spending because we need to do it for our own defense. But also, because it is fair to get this balance with what the U.S. is spending on defense.”

RUSSIA LAUNCHES FRESH DRONE ATTACK AGAINST UKRAINE SHORTLY AFTER TRUMP-PUTIN PHONE CALL

European leaders held an emergency summit in Paris on Monday to discuss an upcoming bilateral meeting between U.S. and Russian officials in Saudi Arabia to negotiate an end to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine.

Alarm bells went off in Europe after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, a former Fox News co-host, said last week that NATO membership for Ukraine is an unrealistic outcome for any negotiated settlement to the war and security guarantees must be maintained by “capable European and non-European troops.”

“To be clear, as part of any security guarantee, there will not be US troops deployed to Ukraine,” he said.

Critics say Hegseth gave up key leverage in the United States’ negotiations with Russia before peace talks even began.

Rutte told Fox News host Martha MacCallum he has “great trust” in the American team leading the peace talks and has “no doubt” that Ukraine will be involved.

“We have to work together to make sure that we keep the whole of NATO territory safe. But clearly, we have to step up on this part and when it comes to the other theaters, the other areas in the world where the U.S. has to concentrate its attention on, obviously China and, of course, the Middle East, it’s only fair that you ask the Europeans to do more so that they can be able to make sure that they can have their attention concentrating on all these areas, including Europe,” he said.

PUTIN’S A ‘LITTLE BIT SCARED’ OF TRUMP AS NATIONS BEGIN PEACE TALKS, ZELENSKYY SAYS

The former Netherlands prime minister added that he rejects criticism that Trump is appeasing Putin ahead of the talks.

“What the American president is doing, he wants to bring this war to an end. He has taken initiatives to do that,” Butte explained. “That whole process is now starting. And Europeans were a bit rattled when that started and started to complain that they were not involved. They are now stepping up. They’re getting their act together, wanting to participate.”

The NATO secretary general said European leaders are working to come up with security guarantees for Ukraine if the United States ends up not having boots on the ground post-war.

He maintained the need for “credible deterrence” to make sure Russia doesn’t try to take more of Ukraine, explaining that whatever deal comes about needs to make sure peace is “lasting” and “during.”

Kamala Harris ripped apart as video of ‘word salad’ to Broadway cast goes viral

Former Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a so-called nonsensical “word salad” during an attempt to deliver an inspirational message to the cast of Broadway’s “A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical.”

Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, were seen attending two Broadway productions over the weekend, the other being “Gypsy,” the New York Post reported.

Following a standing ovation for “A Wonderful World,” Harris delivered her speech to the cast and crew.

LIZ CHENEY CAMPAIGNS WITH VICE PRESIDENT HARRIS AHEAD OF THE ELECTION

“When we think about these moments where we see things that are being taken, but also let’s see it, you know, nature abhors a vacuum,” Harris tells the musical’s cast in a clip shared on X.

“Where there’s a vacancy, let’s fill it. Let us know that the reality is that the progress of our nation has been about the expansion of rights, not the restriction of rights,” she added. “We’re seeing a U-turn right now. For those rights to be maintained, which means we have to be vigilant. It’s just the nature of it.”

Harris was mocked online for her remarks, with some comparing her to someone under the influence of alcohol.

“Kamala Harris hit Broadway and, of course, served up her signature word salad. A friendly reminder of what we dodged in the White House,” one person wrote on X.

She was similarly ridiculed after leaving office when she spoke to firefighters in California as they were battling wildfires in Los Angeles.

KAMALA HARRIS MOCKED ONLINE FOR ANOTHER ‘WORD SALAD’ ABOUT ‘COMMUNITY’ DURING FIRE DEPARTMENT VISIT

“As I said to these courageous and extraordinary firefighters, you know moments of crisis really do reveal the heroes among us,” she said. “We went and visited World Central Kitchen. I mean, the volunteers who were there, some of them who lost their own homes, are there doing the work of taking care of perfect strangers, who, in the face of that stranger, they see a neighbor.”

As vice president, Harris once said: “I grew up understanding the children of the community are the children of the community.”

Since leaving the White House, Harris has dodged questions about her political future, amid rumors she may be considering a run to become governor of California.

Jerry Seinfeld shuts down pro-Palestinian activist right to his face

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld dismissed a pro-Palestinian “ambush activist” who attempted to troll him over the weekend.

Instagram user “Subway DJ” posted a video of himself on Sunday meeting Seinfeld outside what appeared to be Radio City Music Hall. Seinfeld appeared there for an event celebrating the 50th anniversary of “Saturday Night Live.”

“Subway DJ” asked the Jewish comedian for a selfie, to which the latter agreed. While taking the photo, the Instagram user flashed a peace sign and exclaimed, “Free Palestine.”

JERRY SEINFELD HECKLED BY ANTI-ISRAEL PROTESTER DURING COMEDY SHOW: ‘JEW-HATERS SPICE UP THE SHOW’

After a moment with no response, he asked Seinfeld, “Maybe?”

“I don’t care about Palestine,” Seinfeld remarked before walking away.

“Subway DJ,” who also calls himself an “Instagram Provocateur,” confronted Seinfeld in another video posted to his account months earlier.

“Jerry, Jerry, don’t support genocide. Don’t support genocide. Please. Stop supporting Israel,” he could be heard chanting as Seinfeld walks past him.

Seinfeld is no stranger to dealing with critics, having frequently called out pro-Palestinian protesters at his shows over the past few years.

“Tomorrow we will read in the paper: Middle East 100% solved thanks to man at the Qudos Arena stopping Jew comedian. They stopped him and everyone in the Middle East just went, ‘Oh my God, let’s get along. We can’t do that,’” Seinfeld said when hecklers interrupted an Australian show in June

He continued, “Because I know there are problems here with indigenous, aboriginal people… so maybe to solve that, I will screw up Jim Jeffries in a show in New York! If this works, that would work. You have to go 20,000 miles from the problem and screw up a comedian. That is how you solve world issues.”

Seinfeld mocked the protesters again at another Australian show one week later.

“Oh, you’re back. The protesters are back! I’ve missed you,” he replied. “Oh, you’re not doing well. It’s so hard for you.”

“I think you need to go back and tell whoever is running your organization, ‘We just gave more money to a Jew,’” he later quipped.

Protesters have repeatedly criticized Seinfeld over his support for Israel after the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack in 2023. Days after the massacre, he declared, “I will always stand with Israel and the Jewish people.”

Sadie Robertson Huff was ‘super anxious’ to share third pregnancy news with family

Sadie Robertson Huff admitted it was “such a shock” to find out she was pregnant with her third child.

Robertson, 27, was so consumed with filming new episodes of her family’s recently rebooted reality television show “Duck Dynasty” that she was worried her pregnancy wouldn’t fit into the right timeline.

The “Whoa That’s Good” podcast host has two daughters with husband Christian Huff, but was “mostly nervous” about telling her mother she was pregnant again.

Robertson’s oldest daughter, Honey, 3, had been telling friends Sadie was pregnant with a baby boy even though she wasn’t yet with child, she said on her podcast.

“Later on, actually I did find out I was pregnant, which was such a shock, but great shock — we were totally surprised,” Robertson said. “And so, this season of our life has been so crazy and so full, with filming and all the things that come with that, and that wasn’t necessarily our timeline or our plan that we thought were gonna have a baby.”

Immediately after finding out she was pregnant, Robertson said she was “totally overwhelmed” upon thinking about telling her family about their baby news.

“I was mostly nervous to tell mom because the show has been so much,” she said.

“I just know how busy we all are right now, and how busy you are right now,” Sadie’s mother, Korie Robertson, said on the podcast. “And, you don’t usually wait.”

Sadie noted, “I don’t wait a second. When I found out I was pregnant with Haven, I FaceTimed my mom to tell her, and I was literally five minutes down the road.”

She waited five days more than she planned to tell her family, which felt like an eternity.

“Especially cause we were together every single day, and like, I was just trying to act like my whole life was not about to totally change, although it was totally changing,” Sadie said. “I just remember whenever I told you, I was super anxious. Life is so crazy right now. I have to tell you I’m pregnant, and you about fell on the floor. You were like, ‘What?’”

“I just about fell on the floor,” Korie said. “I’m so excited. Obviously, I cannot believe you’re about to be a mom of three, and anytime a baby comes is the perfect time, but yes. I had no idea.”

Sadie admitted her mom calmed her nerves surrounding the baby news.

“You helped me so much because I was so nervous and felt so overwhelmed, and you kind of just need one person to say to you — especially your mom — ‘This is such great news. This is amazing. You’re gonna be the best mom to three, and it’s all gonna be OK.'”

A&E announced last month that the hit show would be revived eight years after it aired its final episode. “Duck Dynasty: The Revival” will focus on Phil Robertson’s son, Willie, his wife, Korie, their adult children, John Luke, Sadie, Will, Bella and Rebecca, and their grandchildren, according to a synopsis.

The original “Duck Dynasty” aired for 11 seasons from 2012-17. Per A&E, the show peaked at 11.8 million viewers.
