Trump admin to slash over 1,500 positions from embattled agency just before midnight

The Trump administration is eliminating over a thousand positions at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), while also placing the majority of the remaining staff members on administration leave globally, just before midnight Sunday.

The Associated Press reported that it learned from the Trump administration that 1,600 posts would be eliminated after reviewing notices that were sent to USAID workers.

“As of 11:59 p.m. EST on Sunday, February 23, 2025, all USAID direct hire personnel, with the exception of designated personnel responsible for mission-critical functions, core leadership and/or specially designated programs, will be placed on administrative leave globally,” the notices read.

The Trump administration intends on leaving fewer than 300 staffers on the job, out of the current 8,000 contractors and direct hires.

USAID WORKERS SEND MESSAGE TO TRUMP ON BOXES WHILE LEAVING OFFICE FOR LAST TIME

The less than 300 remaining staff, along with an unknown number of the 5,000 locally hired international staff members abroad, will run the few life-saving programs that the administration said it intends to keep in place for the time being.

Sacked USAID staffers left their Washington, D.C., offices for the last time on Friday, with some carrying boxes scrawled with messages that seemed to be directed at Trump, who is slashing the agency’s workforce.

“We are abandoning the world,” read one message on a box containing belongings being hauled out by a grinning staffer as she walked out of USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance office.

‘WASTEFUL AND DANGEROUS’: DOGE’S TOP FIVE MOST SHOCKING REVELATIONS

Another smiling staffer’s box had a more upbeat tone, with her message reading: “You can take the humanitarians out of USAID but you can’t take the humanity out of the humanitarians.”

Thousands of staffers had been notified weeks ago of their pending dismissals, and on Friday, U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols lifted a temporary restraining order he had issued at the outset of a lawsuit filed by government employee unions seeking a stop to the mass layoffs. After lifting the temporary restraining order, Nichols declined to issue a longer-term order that would have kept the employees in their posts.

Trump has moved to gut the agency after imposing a 90-day pause on foreign aid. He also appointed Secretary of State Marco Rubio as the acting director of USAID.

SECRETARY OF STATE RUBIO CONFIRMS BECOMING ACTING USAID CHIEF

The agency has come under fire by the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) for alleged wasteful spending.

For instance, Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, the Senate DOGE Caucus Chairwoman, recently published a list of projects and programs she says USAID has helped fund over the years, including $20 million to produce a Sesame Street show in Iraq.

Several more examples of questionable spending have been uncovered at USAID, including more than $900,000 to a “Gaza-based terror charity” called Bayader Association for Environment and Development and a $1.5 million program slated to “advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in Serbia’s workplaces and business communities.”

Bill Maher snaps at liberal over far-left trans comment: ‘You want to lose every election?’

“Real Time” host and comedian Bill Maher sparred with former Obama speechwriter Jon Lovett over the issue of Democrats supporting gender transition treatments for children.

On the “Pod Saves America” podcast on Sunday, Maher called out the position as a woke “outlier” from not only Americans but the world as a whole, alienating them from average voters.

“The Democratic position in [California] has been that the school has the right to hide it from the parents,” Maher said. “That is not something that’s going to go well with the average voter.”

He later added, “And the fact that you think, or a lot of people on the left think, that even if you just have this debate, it makes you a bigot, you just have to roll over…that was their position. If you even question this, you’re some sort of a bigot. And this is new science. And it has to do with children. And it’s not going to look good in the future, that position.”

MAHER CALLS OUT ‘WOKE EXCESS’ OF U.S. MEDICAL ESTABLISHMENT: ‘AFRAID’ TO BACK DOWN ON GENDER CARE FOR KIDS

Lovett pushed back by comparing the situation to gay people being accused of “grooming” young boys, insisting that the treatments shouldn’t be discarded because a “few” may regret transitioning.

“But they’re also really important surgeries that people get for their heart. And they go wrong and somebody dies and nobody says, we must stop the cardiologists. No one says we must stop the surgeons,” Lovett continued.

“That’s your analogy?” Maher interrupted incredulously.

“We don’t get rid of the specific surgery,” Lovett continued as the two spoke over each other. “We don’t throw out a whole field of medicine. We say, let’s make sure we’re doing it in a way that’s healthy. The science, the research, alright, makes clear that, yes, there are exceptions. Yes, there are people practicing it in ways that maybe go too far, but for the most part, study after study shows that gender-affirming care saves a lot of lives.”

Lovett also accused Republicans of taking “edge cases” like transgender athletes in girls’ locker rooms to try and make a “war” against all transgender people. Maher agreed but called out Lovett’s claim that “study after study” has shown the treatment’s benefits.

He pointed to a report from 2024 that revealed that a study on the effects of puberty blockers on kids’ mental health went unpublished out of concern it would be “weaponized” by critics.

“So in other words, it came out not the way you wanted the study to come out, not what you said, that ‘Oh, all the studies show that.’ No, it is a mixed bag,” Maher said.

Lovett grew more heated as he argued there would be some times when parents must be left out of the decision on gender transition treatments.

“Look, we all believe that parents should have the decisions over their children, but we also recognize that some parents do such a bad f—ing job that the kids are in danger,” Lovett said. “That happens in outside of trans issues. That happens all the time. It’s terrible. Some parents are f—ing terrible, but somehow that the fact that there are terrible parents in the world gets erased on these questions. Do I think that schools should, but as a baseline, be keeping a secret from parents? Of f—ing course not. No one thinks that. No one thinks that.”

“Apparently that’s not true,” Maher interjected. “People do think that. And there is no perfect answer to this. It’s as many knotty questions, the least bad answer—”

“The least bad answer is to not have the government decide from above is just to leave it up to people and parents, then the kids and the doctors. Right? You want the government to ban gender affirming care for kids?” Lovett fired back.

“You want to lose every election? Just keep coming down on the side of parents coming in second and a ‘who gets to decide what goes on with your kid’ contest,” Maher said.

Absolute chaos as dozens brawl inside major US airport: ‘This is embarrassing’

One of the biggest airport brawls to have ever erupted in Atlanta was captured in a video that has now gone viral.

Dozens of travelers broke out in a massive fight last week at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The video shows the brawl taking place at a waiting area near a Spirit Airlines boarding gate.

The footage, which received 2 million views since it was posted to X on Friday, shows a chaotic crowd rapidly punching and kicking one another in front of a Spirit Airlines poster.

One woman was seen jumping over the seats to join the mayhem, while a group of men were caught on camera cornering and hitting another traveler.

“This is embarrassing,” one witness was heard saying in the video.

Pleas to end the mayhem were also ignored by the crowd as screams and commotion continued to fill the terminal.

“It’s not worth it!” one witness said multiple times.

“Y’all got kids over there, man! Hey, hey, hey, hey!” another man was heard saying repeatedly.

In another video of the incident, people were also seen frantically rushing away from the violence.

It is unclear how long the brawl lasted or what prompted the violence to break out.

“Why are they fighting?” one witness asked in another video.

Police responding to the disturbance told Fox 5 Atlanta that the crowd had dispersed by the time officers arrived.

It does not appear that anyone has been arrested, the local station reported.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Atlanta Police Department, the airport and Spirit Airlines for more information, but they did not immediately respond.

Sanctuary city councilwoman calls Homan’s promise to enforce border ‘laughable’

A member of the Boston City Council called out Border Czar Tom Homan in a post on social media, calling his promises to enforce President Donald Trump’s border policy “laughable.”

Councilwoman Sharon Durkan posted her response on X after Homan said he would “bring hell” to Beantown after Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox recently doubled down on the city’s sanctuary policies.

“You said you doubled down on not helping the law enforcement officers of ICE. I’m coming to Boston, and I’m bringing hell with me,” Homan said at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Saturday. “I looked at the numbers this morning… I stopped counting at nine. Nine child rapists that were in jail in Massachusetts, but rather than honoring an ICE detainer, you released them back into the street.”

“You’re not a police commissioner,” Homan continued. “Take that badge off your chest. Put it in the desk drawer. Because you became a politician. You forgot what it’s like to be a cop.”

TRUMP’S ICE RACKS UP HUNDREDS OF ARRESTS, INCLUDING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS ARRESTED FOR HORROR CRIMES

Durkan responded by mocking Homan for briefly serving as a police officer in the village of West Carthage, New York, in the 1980s. He became a Border Patrol agent soon after, and has since worked for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the Obama administration, as well as the first Trump administration.

“Laughable that someone who spent their career policing a town smaller than a Fenway Park crowd thinks they can lecture Boston on public safety,” Durkan’s post read.

“Commissioner Michael Cox serves with distinction and earns trust with integrity,” the city official continued. “Tom Homan should know, we don’t scare easy.”

‘PROMPT REMOVAL’: TRUMP DHS EXPANDS EXPEDITED DEPORTATION POWERS AS OPERATIONS RAMP UP

In a recent interview, Cox said that Boston “doesn’t enforce detainers” that are filed by ICE, per Massachusetts law.

“We just don’t do that,” Cox said on a segment of WCVB’s “On the Record” show. “We don’t enforce civil detainers regarding federal immigration law. It’s defined here in the state, and that’s just how it works.”

The Boston office of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) has overseen the arrest of several criminal migrants in recent weeks, including MS-13 gang members.

Earlier this month, ERO Boston officers apprehended an illegal alien from Guatemala who was charged with multiple counts of child rape.

Pentagon tells civilian workforce to ignore Musk’s request to report productivity

The Department of Defense (DOD) told its civilian workforce to ignore billionaire and head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Elon Musk’s request to report their productivity.

In a letter to DOD personnel, Darin S. Selnick, who is performing the duties of the undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness, provided guidance on how to handle Musk’s demand through the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).

“DoD personnel may have received an email from OPM requesting information. The Department of Defense is responsible for reviewing the performance of its personnel and it will conduct any review in accordance with its own procedures,” Selnick wrote. “When and if required, the Department will coordinate responses to the email you have received from OPM. For now, please pause any response to the OPM email titled, ‘What did you do last week.’”

Musk, a senior advisor to President Donald Trump, said earlier on Saturday that employees would receive an email giving them a chance to explain how productive they were the previous week. If an employee fails to respond to the email, Musk said the government will interpret that as a resignation.

ELON MUSK SAYS ‘BAR IS VERY LOW’ AFTER ORDERING FEDERAL EMPLOYEES TO FILL OUT PRODUCTIVITY REPORTS OR RESIGN

“Consistent with President @realDonaldTrump’s instructions, all federal employees will shortly receive an email requesting to understand what they got done last week,” Musk wrote on X. “Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation.”

Later that day, Musk said the report should take under five minutes for employees to write. The deadline for responding to the email is 11:59 p.m. on Monday.

ELON MUSK SAYS FEDERAL EMPLOYEES MUST FILL OUT PRODUCTIVITY REPORTS OR RESIGN

“To be clear, the bar is very low here. An email with some bullet points that make any sense at all is acceptable! Should take less than 5 mins to write,” Musk wrote on X.

A spokesperson from OPM confirmed Musk’s plans.

“As part of the Trump Administration’s commitment to an efficient and accountable federal workforce, OPM is asking employees to provide a brief summary of what they did last week by the end of Monday, CC’ing their manager,” the spokesperson said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “Agencies will determine any next steps.”

Also telling employees to stand down was Kash Patel, who was confirmed by the Senate last week as the new director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

“FBI personnel may have received an email from OPM requesting information,” Patel told employees, according to The Associated Press. “The FBI, through the Office of the Director, is in charge of all of our review processes, and will conduct reviews in accordance with FBI procedures. When and if further information is required, we will coordinate the responses. For now, please pause any responses.”

The State Department also reportedly issued a similar message to employees on Saturday, informing them that department officials “will respond on behalf of the Department,” according to a message sent by Ambassador Tibor P. Nagy, who serves as acting under secretary of state for management.

Father of famous actress arrested on felony assault charge in Texas

Lindsay Lohan’s father, Michael Lohan, was arrested for allegedly getting physical with his estranged wife, Kate Major Lohan, in Texas.

In court documents obtained by Fox News Digital, Lohan was charged with a felony assault called “continuous violence against the family.”

A representative for the Harris County Sheriff’s Office told Fox News Digital, “On Friday February 21, 2025, the complainant (Kate Lohan) was at a medical follow up, when the defendant (Michael Lohan) was observed by Ms. Lohan in the parking lot of the building.  A 911 call was placed, and deputies responded.”

“She told deputies that Lohan had flipped her out of a chair at their residence a few days earlier. The complainant felt pain and discomfort. A female deputy was able to witness the bruising on the complainants body,” the statement continued.

The 64-year-old was previously arrested in 2020 for becoming “verbally and physically abusive” with Major, per a report obtained by Page Six at the time.

Major, a former journalist, has also faced legal woes. In April 2015, she was arrested in Boca Raton, Fla., for allegedly “drunkenly attacking” Lohan after an argument where he accused her of cheating on him. In that instance, Major also claimed Lohan grabbed her by the throat. However, no evidence was found to support the claim.

Paige Spiranac wants ‘ban’ of controversial putting method in pro golf

Golf influencer Paige Spiranac has declared a stance on a hot debate on the course.

AimPoint, a method of finding a putting line on the green, has been criticized by those who don’t use it, saying that it affects the pace of play on the PGA Tour.

Spiranac is in that camp after what she saw on the LPGA Tour – a player going through their AimPoint routine a foot from the hole.

“Ban Aim Point,” Spiranac posted on X over a picture of the LPGA Tour player.

Slow play has been a controversial topic in golf recently, especially with rounds in tournaments like the Farmers Insurance Open taking almost six hours to complete.

PGA Tour golfer Lucas Glover said on SiriusXm PGA Tour Radio that, while it isn’t proven AimPoint is causing these pace of play issues on the course, it can take too long to get the read and the results are not any better than other methods.

TIGER WOODS HAS MIXUP WITH TGL TEAMMATES, LEADING TO HILARIOUS MOMENT: ‘WHAT ARE YOU DOING?’

“AimPoint statistically hasn’t helped anybody make more putts since its inception on the PGA Tour, statistics have borne that out,” Glover said.

Glover also pointed out how the method requires players to walk near the hole and make their way back to the ball.

“It’s also kind of rude to be up near the hole and stomping around, figuring out where the break is in your feet. It needs to be banned. It takes forever,” he said.

There are others, however, who believe if AimPoint was adopted by more, the game would move quicker.

“It would speed up play as it takes an average of 10 seconds to get a read,” Europe’s senior instructor Jamie Donaldson told Golf Monthly

Collin Morikawa, who uses AimPoint, heard what Glover had to say and retorted with a proposed ban on “long putters,” which the latter uses.

As of now, the PGA will continue to allow AimPoint, but pace of play will continue to be a hot topic moving forward.

Audrey Hepburn stuns once again as mega mansion hits the market for whopping price

Audrey Hepburn’s former villa in Switzerland is ready for a new owner.

The actress’ home, affectionately referred to as La Paisible, meaning “the peaceful” in French, rests on 40 acres of land, just a short distance from the stunning landscape of Lake Geneva, in the Tolochenaz, Vaud, area of Switzerland.

Spanning almost 11,000 square feet, the house, currently listed by British realty company Knight Frank, is on the market for $21 million. The high price comes with the promise of 12 bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a two-bedroom service apartment and much more.

Originally built in the 18th century, the home was first purchased by Hepburn in 1963, and she lived there for 30 years, until her death from cancer at the age of 63. According to Bloomberg, her sons, Sean Hepburn Ferrer and Luca Dotti, sold the home in 2001, to Katharina Beaujolin and her husband, Jean-Marc Beaujolin, the current chairman of ECH Ltd.

IVANKA TRUMP’S INAUGURATION GOWN GIVES NOD TO AUDREY HEPBURN AS STAR’S SON SHARES TIES BETWEEN FAMOUS FAMILIES

After purchasing the home, Katharina and Jean-Marc made small renovations to the home, which Bloomberg reports included moving the location of the kitchen and modernizing it, as well as updating the bathrooms and electrical systems, and adding more guest bedrooms.

While they did make changes, Hepburn’s legacy remains in the home, as a plaque with Hepburn’s name on it hangs on the exterior of the house, a feature that often attracts tourists. Katharina told Bloomberg that the public’s continued interest in Hepburn is “actually quite touching,” as “she died more than 30 years ago now,” saying it just goes to show “how much she meant to people.

“When Audrey Hepburn turned 60, she got 60 white rosebushes sent and had a rose garden planted, and half of those are still there,” Katharina shared about what remains from Hepburn’s time at the villa.

In addition to the white rosebushes, the grounds are surrounded by centuries-old trees, which tower over the home. The home features five separate entrances, including one that is lined with rosebushes and features flowers covering the walls and front door.

Once inside the home, guests will be greeted by one of its 21 rooms—one of which is the spacious living room—spread across three floors. The room features light green walls and tan carpeted flooring as well as a wood-burning fireplace.

The large room features two separate sitting areas, both composed of white couches, wooden tables and upholstered chairs. One wall boasts multiple large windows which look out onto the grass fields, while others boast built-in bookshelves.

A door at one end of the living room leads to a small sitting room with black-and-white tiled flooring and a small chair placed in front of glass French doors leading out to the yard.

On the other side of the sitting room is the library. The library features terracotta floors, which are accented with a rug, draped in the center of the room.

White built-in bookshelves cover multiple walls of the library, including the walls above the blue sofa, which sits next to a pink armchair. The room also boasts a flat screen TV and double doors that lead to what appears to be a dining area.

The main level is rounded out with a fully renovated modern kitchen, which boasts a large center eat-in island that also houses the oven and stovetop. The kitchen features white countertops and blue cabinetry as well.

AUDREY HEPBURN’S SONS RECALL THEIR UPBRINGING OUTSIDE OF HOLLYWOOD: ‘THE MOST VALUABLE THING WAS FAMILY’

Just steps away from the center island is the home’s casual dining area and a built-in bookshelf, situated near a door that leads outside.

Two staircases and an elevator lead to the upper levels of the home, which contain the guest bedrooms, as well as the primary suite.

One of the guest bedrooms features two twin beds, tan carpeted flooring and an angular structured ceiling with exposed wooden beams.

In contrast, one of the other guest bedrooms boasts hardwood flooring, covered in a light blue carpet, a full bed, wooden chairs and a small desk, two large windows looking out onto the property and built-in bookshelves.

Also on the second level is the home’s spacious primary bedroom. It features hardwood flooring, a wood-burning fireplace, multiple windows looking out onto the property, and various pieces of wooden furniture.

Elsewhere in the home is a second living room, which features oak parquet flooring.

One key highlight of the home is a loft space. The large room, featuring brick flooring and wood paneling on the ceiling, has been left fairly empty, except for a pool table and a few other recreational accoutrements placed in the corner, and is perfect for entertaining large parties.

Once outside the home, guests will find multiple seating areas, including an outdoor dining area and lounge area.

In addition to all the amenities inside the house, the estate features a private 16,000-square-foot park, which includes a heated 50-foot pool. The area also includes a large parking garage and outdoor parking spaces, big enough to accommodate 15 cars.

“It’s a nice place to invite friends in the summertime, when the kids are around with their families,” Katharina said of the loft space and the private park, adding that two of her sons got married on the grounds.
