House Democrat insists ‘it’s not a crime’ to illegally enter the United States
Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, said on Saturday that illegally entering the country was “not a crime” despite being in violation of federal law.
On MSNBC’s “The Katie Phang Show,” the Texas Democrat discussed her recent performance at a House committee hearing on sanctuary city policies last week. She used the time to explain to the audience that illegally entering the country was not a “crime” but a “civil accusation,” meaning illegal immigrants are not criminals.
“[Republicans] are so outraged by these immigrants and the crime that they’re bringing. And not to mention, city law enforcement, local law enforcement, they are always going after crime,” Crockett said. “And they don’t say, ‘oh, you committed a murder, oh, but you’re an immigrant. Well, let me let you go.’ Right? So they are always focused on crime.”
BILL MAHER KNOCKS REP. JASMINE CROCKETT, QUESTIONS HER STATUS AS ‘BIG LEADER’ IN DEMOCRATIC PARTY
She added, “They continue to say things like ‘the illegals’ and that they broke the law coming in. But what they’re not telling the American people is that it is a civil violation. It is not a criminal violation to enter the country illegally. It’s not. It’s not criminal. It’s not a crime. It’s not a crime. Which is why they’re so frustrated, because they really want our local law enforcement to go out and round up people when they could be looking out for the murderers and the sexual abusers, as well as the robbers. They want them to go and round people up on civil accusations.”
Improper entry into the United States is considered a federal misdemeanor crime in violation of 8 USC 1325, punishable by fines and up to six months in jail for first-time offenders. Repeat offenders can be subjected to fines and up to two years in prison.
Under 8 USC 1326, reentry of removed illegal immigrants who have been removed following the conviction of three or more misdemeanor crimes can also face up to 10 years in prison. Reentry of removed illegal immigrants who have been removed following the conviction of a felony can face up to 20 years in prison.
However, “unlawful presence,” or overstaying a “period of stay” authorized in the U.S. such as a work visa, is not considered a criminal offense.
Crockett also accused Republicans of being hypocrites for supporting immigration raids while also supporting President Donald Trump, whom she claimed was “the biggest criminal” of them all.

“That’s why I wanted to point out, don’t give me this fake outrage about criminals roaming our streets when you guys stand 10 toes down for the biggest criminal that we have ever seen go into the White House,” Crockett said.
Crockett has emerged on the scene as one of the harshest Democratic critics of the Trump administration, going so far as to call Trump an “enemy” of the United States during an interview on MSNBC last week.

High school track star bashed in head by opponent with baton: ‘I was just in disbelief’
A Virginia high school track and field star’s attempt to get into first place during a race last Tuesday led an opponent to hit her with a baton, causing head injuries.
According to Brookville High School junior Kaelen Tucker, she’s still waiting on the opponent from I.C. Norcom High School to apologize.
Tucker had just set a new Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 3 State Indoor Championships record in the 55-meter race on Monday, and she was hoping to help her school win the 4x200M relay final on Tuesday as well.

However, the heat of competition got carried too far by one opponent, as clear video evidence of the race shows Tucker getting struck in the head by a baton-wielding runner from Norcom, who also threw it in Tucker’s direction after being passed.
Tucker immediately ran off the track and fell down, holding her head.
TRANS ATHLETE SADIE SCHREINER NOT COMPETING FOR RIT WOMEN’S TRACK TEAM AFTER TRUMP’S EXECUTIVE ORDER
“So, on the back curve, I kind of got cut off, and I tried to pass her the first time, so I let her go ahead,” Tucker said to WSET ABC 13 in an interview posted on Friday. “I knew when I got fully on the curve that I was just going to have to push through past her. So, as we were coming up in the middle of the curve, we were bumping arms a lot. So, I got a little more on the outside of the curve to go around her.”
“When I finally pushed through to get in front of her, that’s when she hit me in the head with the baton.”
Bumping during races is very normal on the track, but not how Tucker’s opponent reacted at that moment during the second leg of the race.
“The whole section just gasped,” Tucker’s mother, Tamarrow, said about those around her in the bleachers. “We had family come from out of town, her godparents were here from Myrtle Beach. Everybody just gasped. When I saw her go down, all I could do is run out of the bleachers. I just knew I had to get to her.”
“She was kind of hysterical because she just couldn’t believe that’s what had happened.”
Race judges immediately disqualified the Norcom team for “contact interference,” according to WSET ABC 13.
Tamarrow said a medic was already with her daughter when she got down on the track, though what baffled the entire family was the lack of accountability for what occurred.
As of Friday, they still haven’t heard from the runner or her coaches, she said.
“My whole thing was no apology,” Tamarrow said. “No coaches, no athlete, no anything. Even if it was an accident, which I don’t believe it’s an accident, but nothing. It’s been more than 24 hours now, so I guess that was the major thing. My child was hurt and nobody came to check on her.”
WSET ABC 13 asked the Tuckers if criminal charges would be pressed, and without giving a definitive yes-or-no answer, Tamarrow explained their point of view.
“Of course, everybody gives their opinion on what they think you should do, but that’s also somebody else’s child,” she said, referencing the assailant. “I want to take that into account as well. Yes, she definitely struck my daughter more than once, but she is somebody else’s child as well.”
The family said a doctor’s visit on Friday revealed concussion symptoms as Kaelen continues to deal with headaches. There was also swelling around the area where she was struck and a possible skull fracture.
Kaelen isn’t allowed on the track until she recovers from her injuries, her mother said.
The Tucker family reached out to the VHSL and said they received a call-back explaining that an investigation was underway and both high schools were cooperating. No discipline has been announced for the incident, according to the Tuckers.
The VHSL issued a statement to Fox News Digital on the matter.
“The VHSL does not comment on individuals or disciplinary actions due to FERPA,” the league’s statement read. “The actions taken by the meet director to disqualify the runner were appropriate and correct. We thoroughly review every instance like this that involves player safety with the participating schools. The VHSL membership has always made it a priority to provide student-athletes with a safe environment for competition.”

Kaelen was asked at the end of the interview from their home what she wished to say to the opponent who struck her, if anything.
“Why did you do it? And why haven’t you apologized yet?” she said.
NORAD intercepts aircraft flying in restricted zone above Mar-a-Lago in Florida
A civilian aircraft that violated a temporary flight restriction (TFR) near President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate was detected and “escorted out” by military officials on Sunday.
In a statement released on Sunday, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) said that its F-16 fighter aircraft responded to “a general aviation aircraft” flying above Palm Beach, Florida.
NORAD, which is a U.S. military alliance with Canada, said that the civilian aircraft “violated the TFR at approximately 1:15 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.”
“The aircraft was [then] safely escorted out of the area by NORAD aircraft,” NORAD said.
PLANE CRASHES IN RETIREMENT COMMUNITY’S PARKING LOT IN PENNSYLVANIA: OFFICIALS
The news release also noted that NORAD aircraft had “dispensed flares,” at the time, which may have been visible to civilians.
“The flares were used to draw attention from or communicate with the pilot,” the statement noted. “Flares are employed with the highest regard for safety, burn out quickly and completely, and pose no danger to people on the ground.”
NORAD Commander Gen. Gregory Guillot said the agency “works closely” with the FAA to “keep the skies over America safe, with close attention paid to areas with Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR).”
PLANE CAUGHT ON CAMERA CRASHING INTO NEW ENGLAND NEIGHBORHOOD, NARROWLY MISSING HOMES
“Adherence to TFR procedures is essential to ensure flight safety, national security, and the security of the President,” Guillot added. “The procedures are not optional, and the excessive number of recent TFR violations indicates many civil aviators are not reading Notice to Airmen, or NOTAMs, before each flight as required by the FAA, and has resulted in multiple responses by NORAD fighter aircraft to guide offending aircraft out of the TFR.”
“Should the pilot of an aircraft happen to find itself intercepted by one of fighters or helicopters, they should immediately come up on frequency 121.5 or 243.0 and turn around to reverse course until receiving additional instructions on one of those frequencies.”

Since Trump was inaugurated on Jan. 20, NORAD has responded to “over 20 tracks of interest” entering the TFR area of Palm Beach, the agency said.
Probe of Biden documents raises new questions about who was running the country
The majority of official documents signed by President Joe Biden allegedly used the same autopen signature, reinvigorating concerns over the former president’s mental acuity and if he “actually ordered the signature of relevant legal documents,” a report published by an arm of the Heritage Foundation found.
“WHOEVER CONTROLLED THE AUTOPEN CONTROLLED THE PRESIDENCY,” the Oversight Project, which is an initiative within the conservative Heritage Foundation that investigates the government to bolster transparency, posted to X on Thursday.
“We gathered every document we could find with Biden’s signature over the course of his presidency. All used the same autopen signature except for the announcement that the former President was dropping out of the race last year. Here is the autopen signature,” the group claimed on X, accompanied by photo examples.
Autopen signatures are ones that are automatically produced by a machine, as opposed to an authentic, handwritten signature.
‘EMBARRASSINGLY WRONG’: LIBERAL MEDIA FIGURES ADMIT BEING IN DENIAL ABOUT BIDEN’S MENTAL DECLINE
The Oversight Project posted three examples showing Biden’s signature, including two executive orders and the president’s announcement he was bowing out of the 2024 presidential race. The signature on the two executive orders, one of which was signed in 2022 and the other in 2024, showed the same signature that included what appeared to be a line, followed by “R. Biden Jr.”
CRITICISMS MOUNT THAT BIDEN IS A ‘SHADOW’ OF HIMSELF AFTER DISASTROUS DEBATE: ‘NOT THE SAME MAN’ FROM VP ERA
Biden’s signature on the document announcing his departure from the 2024 race varied from the other two posted by the Oversight Project, showing a signature that wasn’t as clear as the one on the executive orders.
Fox News Digital, at random, examined more than 20 Biden-era executive orders documented on the Federal Register’s office between 2021 and 2024 and found each had the same signature.
LIES ABOUT BIDEN’S AGE, HEALTH DURING HIS PRESIDENCY IS A ‘SCANDAL OF EPIC PROPORTIONS,’ SCOTT JENNINGS SAYS
Fox News Digital reached out to Biden’s office for comment on the Oversight Project’s findings on the autopen investigation, but did not immediately receive a reply on Sunday.
Fox News Digital also examined the signatures on President Donald Trump’s executive orders, which are often signed in public or in front of the media, during his first administration and second administration and found the signatures were also the same.
Biden and his administration, however, came under fierce concern and scrutiny over his mental acuity last year.
The year 2024 kicked off with Biden in the driver’s seat of the Democratic Party as he keyed up a re-election effort in what was shaping up to be a rematch against Trump. In February of that year, however, Biden’s 81 years of age and mental acuity fell under public scrutiny after years of conservatives questioning the commander in chief’s mental fitness.
Special counsel Robert Hur, who was investigating Biden’s alleged mishandling of classified documents as vice president, announced he would not recommend criminal charges against Biden for possessing classified materials after his vice presidency, calling Biden “a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”
The report renewed scrutiny over Biden’s mental fitness, which rose to a fever pitch in June 2024 after the president’s first and only presidential debate against Trump.
BIDEN INSIDER EXPOSES HOW WHITE HOUSE ‘GASLIT’ THE PUBLIC ABOUT FORMER PRESIDENT’S DECLINE
Biden faced backlash for a handful of gaffes and miscues in the days leading up to his ill-fated debate against Trump, including former President Barack Obama taking Biden’s wrist and appearing to lead him off a stage during a swank fundraiser, and also abroad when Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni guided Biden back to a group of world leaders when he appeared to wander off to give a thumbs-up to a parachutist during the G-7 summit.
When the big debate day arrived, Biden missed his marks repeatedly, tripping over his responses and appearing to lose his train of thought as he squared off against Trump. The disastrous debate performance led to an outpouring from both conservatives and traditional Democrat allies calling on the president to bow out of the race in favor of a younger generation.
Biden dropped out of the race in July, with the signature on that official document showing it was noticeably different from the signature on his EOs.
Republican Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey sent a letter to the Department of Justice on Wednesday of last week demanding an investigation be opened into whether Biden’s “cognitive decline allowed unelected staff to push through radical policy without his knowing approval.”
“There are profound reasons to suspect that Biden’s staff and political allies exploited his mental decline to issue purported presidential orders without his knowing approval,” the letter read.
“Speaker Johnson, for example, reported that staff and elected officials – including former Vice President Kamala Harris and former Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer – tried to prevent Johnson from meeting with Biden,” it continued.
BIDEN RIPPED FOR ‘OLD’ APPEARANCE, ‘WEAK’ VOICE DURING FIRST PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE: ‘DEEPLY ALARMING’
“Though presidents always have gatekeepers, in Biden’s case, the walls around him were higher and the controls greater, according to Democratic lawmakers, donors and aides who worked for Biden and other administrations. Staff limited Biden’s ability to speak with others and limited the sources of information he consumed.”
The Oversight Project shared Bailey’s letter in its thread investigating Biden’s signature on official documents, in addition to an interview with Speaker Johnson, R-La., when he recounted that Biden didn’t remember signing an order freezing new liquid natural gas exports in 2024.
“I didn’t do that,” the president said, Johnson recounted during an interview with the Free Press’ Bari Weiss in January.
“Sir, you paused it, I know. I have the export terminals in my state. I talked to those people in my state, I’ve talked to those people this morning, this is doing massive damage to our economy, national security,” Johnson said he told the president at the time.
“I walked out of that meeting with fear and loathing because I thought, ‘We are in serious trouble – who is running the country?’” Johnson said of the 2024 meeting.
“Like, I don’t know who put the paper in front of him, but he didn’t know,” he added.
The Oversight Project continued in its findings that investigators should determine “who controlled the autopen” during the Biden administration.
“For investigators to determine whether then-President Biden actually ordered the signature of relevant legal documents, or if he even had the mental capacity to, they must first determine who controlled the autopen and what checks there were in place. Given President Biden’s decision to revoke Executive Privilege for individuals advising Trump during his first Presidency, this is a knowable fact that can be determined with the correct legal process?” the Oversight Project posted to X.
BIDEN HAD NO IDEA HE SIGNED NATURAL GAS EXPORT PAUSE, JOHNSON SAYS
Concerns over Biden’s mental acuity when he was in office, combined with the Oversight Project’s findings, have sparked outrage among conservative social media users as they question if Biden personally signed the executive orders.

Eastern European country blocks frontrunner from postponed presidential race
Romania’s central election authority has banned Calin Georgescu, a populist candidate and frontrunner, from running in May’s presidential election re-run.
“Europe is now a dictatorship, Romania is under tyranny!” Georgescu said in a post on X, following the decision. “I have one message left! If democracy in Romania falls, the entire democratic world will fall!”
Trump’s administration has taken an interest in Romania’s presidential election since it was canceled in May because of Russian collusion allegations in Georgescu’s favor.
SpaceX CEO and DOGE leader Elon Musk chimed in and shared his reaction to the decision.
ROMANIAN FAR-RIGHT PRESIDENTIAL FRONTRUNNER TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AFTER JD VANCE’S REBUKE OF EUROPEAN ELECTIONS
“This is crazy,” Musk wrote on X.
Kari Lake, Trump administration senior advisor for the US agency for global media, also reacted and compared what is happening in Romania to what “they tried with Trump here in America.”
“Do you love your country & want to put it first?” Lake posted on X. “Then, the Globalists want you removed from the ballot & silenced. They tried it with Trump here in America. They did it to Bolsanaro in Brazil. Now, they’re doing it to Georgescu in Romania. The people should dictate their country’s future. Not the international order & their captured court.”
Georgescu, who won the first round of Romania’s canceled presidential election last year, was taken into custody for questioning by the country’s top prosecutors back in February.
ROMANIA ANNULS FIRST ROUND OF PRESIDENTIAL VOTE WON BY FAR-RIGHT CANDIDATE
Romania’s Constitutional Court made the unprecedented move to annul the election two days ahead of the Dec. 8 runoff after Georgescu’s first-round win. He had polled in single digits and declared zero campaign spending, according to The Associated Press. Allegations of Russian interference and electoral violations quickly emerged. After the election cancelation, prosecutors launched an investigation into alleged campaign funding fraud, as well as alleged antisemitism and hate speech.
The Trump administration has criticized Romania for canceling last year’s presidential election, with Vice President JD Vance alleging that the court’s ruling was based on “flimsy suspicions” and “enormous pressure” from Romania’s neighbors.
Vance said in December, “Romania straight up canceled the results of a presidential election based on the flimsy suspicions of an intelligence agency and enormous pressure from its continental neighbors.”
He also warned European leaders that they cannot win a “democratic mandate” by “censoring your opponents or putting them in jail,” nor by “disregarding your basic electorate on questions like who gets to be a part of our shared society.”
“To many of us on the other side of the Atlantic, it looks more and more like old, entrenched interests hiding behind ugly Soviet-era words like misinformation and disinformation, who simply don’t like the idea that somebody with an alternative viewpoint might express a different opinion or, God forbid, vote a different way, or even worse, win an election,” Vance said.

Georgescu, a staunch critic of NATO and Western support for Ukraine, has sparked controversy in the past for describing Romanian fascist and nationalist leaders from the 1930s and 1940s as national heroes, according to The AP.
He has also praised Russian President Vladimir Putin in the past as “a man who loves his country,” and has called Ukraine “an invented state.”
Anti-Trump former banking exec wins race to replace Canadian PM Justin Trudeau
OTTAWA, Ontario – Former Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney will become Canada’s next prime minister after winning the Liberal leadership race on Sunday night. Carney told cheering supporters that “Canada never ever will be part of America in any way, shape or form.”
The prime minister-designate said Canada’s tariffs against the United States will remain until the Americans “show us respect” and added that Canadians “are always ready when someone else drops the gloves.”
Carney said that while “Donald Trump thinks he can weaken us with his plan to divide and conquer,” Conservative Official Opposition Leader “Pierre Poilievre’s plan will leave us divided and ready to be conquered.”
Carney received 86% of the vote, or 131,764 votes of the 151,899 ones cast from the nearly 400,000 party members who registered to participate in the leadership election.
TRUMP CRITIC MARK CARNEY POISED TO REPLACE TRUDEAU AS CANADA’S PRIME MINISTER
The new Liberal leader told party members that they should be prepared to fight “the most important election of our lives” where the “stakes have never been higher.”
He said that Canada is the “greatest country in the world and now our neighbors want to take us. No way,” said the incoming Canadian prime minister referring to President Donald Trump’s repeated desire for the U.S. to annex Canada as the “51st state.”
When Trump announced his tariffs against Canada last month, Carney issued a statement that “Canada will not bow down to a bully. We won’t stand by as illegal U.S. tariffs hurt our workers and their families. As Canadians, we need to face this challenge as one united team.”
In December, outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reportedly approached Carney to serve as Canadian finance minister, which caused the incumbent, Chrystia Freeland, to leave the Cabinet and publicly release her resignation letter in which she wrote that she and the prime minister had “found [themselves] at odds about the best path forward for Canada.”
Less than a month later, Trudeau announced his intention to step down as Liberal leader and prime minister, saying that if he’s “having to fight internal battles, [he] cannot be the best option” in a general election scheduled to be held no later than Oct. 20.
But opposition parties have vowed to force an earlier national vote through a non-confidence motion in the House of Commons against the Liberal minority government when Parliament is recalled on March 24.
On Saturday, Canada’s Globe and Mail newspaper reported that Carney will likely call a snap election the week before the March 24 resumption of Parliament, with voting day on either April 28 or May 5.
The new Liberal leader is expected to meet with Trudeau on Monday to discuss the transition that will find Carney and a slimmed-down Cabinet sworn into office by Friday.
WHO IS PIERRE POILIEVRE? CANADA’S CONSERVATIVE LEADER SEEKING TO BECOME NEXT PRIME MINISTER AFTER TRUDEAU EXIT
But regardless of the Liberals having a new leader with some momentum in the polls, Canada’s Conservatives under their leader, Pierre Poilievre, are ready for a “change election,” said Laura Kurkimaki, who served as deputy national campaign manager for the Conservative Party during the last federal election in 2021.
“We’ve had 10 years of a Liberal government, and Canadians are tired of that,” said Kurkimaki, who also served as principal secretary to former Conservative official opposition leader Erin O’Toole, whose party won the popular vote but not enough House seats to win the 2021 election.
Furthermore, she said the new Liberal leader would be running on “Trudeau’s record,” and while Carney wasn’t a member of the prime minister’s government, he was appointed last September by the Liberal Party to chair a task force on economic growth for Trudeau.
“The next election will be about who is going to make life more affordable for Canadians,” said Kurkimaki. “What’s going on in the U.S. impacts that, of course, and creates economic uncertainty in Canada.”

She added that the longer Carney waits to call an election, the Conservatives get more time to launch their attack ads against him.
During an election, parties face spending limits. But before the writ is dropped to launch the election period, parties can spend as much as they want on advertising, and the Conservatives raised more than double (about $29 million) last year than the Liberals, at about $11 million.
In an interview with The Spectator, Trump, commenting on the Conservative party leader, said Poilievre’s “biggest problem is he’s not a MAGA guy. … He’s not a Trump guy at all.”
The Canadian Conservative leader replied on X, “Mr. President, it is true. I am not MAGA.”
“I am for Canada First. Always,” Poilievre posted. “Canada has always been America’s best friend & ally. But we will NEVER be the 51st state.”
Health officials confirm measles case at major international airport
Virginia officials announced there was a confirmed case of measles at Washington Dulles International Airport last week, and now they are trying to track down anyone who may have been exposed to the highly contagious virus.
The Virginia Department of Health said Sunday that it was notified of the confirmed case, which involved an individual returning from an international trip on March 5.
Officials added that the potential exposure site includes Terminal A, transportation to the main terminal and the baggage claim area, all between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. that day.

Health officials are working to identify anyone who may have been exposed to the virus, which involves individuals at the airport and passengers on specific flights.
This is the latest incident involving measles, which is spreading across the U.S.
A student in Miami-Dade County, Florida, tested positive for the disease last week, and on Wednesday, Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo said it was possible there “may be more” cases.
RFK RECOMMENDS MEASLES VACCINES FOR COMMUNITY IMMUNITY WHILE SUPPORTING PERSONAL CHOICE
Meanwhile, Texas has reported the highest number of measles cases since January, marking 198 infected people as of Friday morning, which includes 23 hospitalizations, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
Most of the cases were detected in unvaccinated, school-aged children — which included one child who died from the disease.
New Mexico also reported its first measles death on Thursday in an unvaccinated adult, according to state officials.
In a recent Fox News Digital op-ed, HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. shared his “deep concern” about the measles outbreak and its rapid escalation.
IS MMR VACCINE SAFE FOR KIDS? DR. NICOLE SAPHIER ADDRESSES CONCERNS AS MEASLES CASES RISE
Kennedy noted that while there is no approved antiviral for measles, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a statement last week supporting the administration of vitamin A under physician supervision as supportive care.
Previous research published in the International Journal of Epidemiology has shown that vitamin A, in conjunction with the measles vaccine, can be an effective intervention in preventing measles mortality in children.
Kennedy reiterated the importance of maintaining good nutrition and consuming various vitamins — like A, B12, C, D and E — as the “best defense against” chronic and infectious illness.
He also told Fox News that he recommends measles vaccines for community immunity during the outbreak, but he also continues to advocate for personal choice.

“We’re going to do what’s right for the American people,” Kennedy told Dr. Marc Siegel, Fox News’ senior medical analyst.
“We’re going to be honest with the American people for the first time in history about all the tests, about all the studies, what we know, what we don’t know, and that’s going to anger some people who want an ideological approach to public health,'” the HHS secretary continued.

Still, the CDC recommends “all children get two doses of MMR (measles-mumps-rubella) vaccine,” according to its website, adding that adults who don’t have “presumptive evidence of immunity should get at least one dose of MMR vaccine.”
Reality star ditches fiancé at the altar over views about Black Lives Matter, religion
“Love is Blind” stars Sara Carton and Ben Mezzenga did not get married during the season finale of the show, as Carton had reservations about Mezzenga’s religious and political viewpoints, including Black Lives Matter.
“I asked him about Black Lives Matter,” Carton told her family in the car, after rejecting Mezzenga. “And I’m no expert, but when I asked him about it, he’s like, ‘I guess I never really thought too much about it.’ That affected me. Especially in our own city, like how could it not? How could it not make you think about something?”
In Netflix’s “Love is Blind,” the men and women attempt to find their forever partner without ever seeing them. When the singles feel a strong connection, they propose and meet the other person for the first time face-to-face. Once a pair is engaged, they plan their wedding day while navigating the rocky waters of the outside world.
At the altar, Carton said, “I love you so much, but I’ve always wanted a partner to be on the same wavelength.”

She lamented that there was “no curiosity coming from his side.”
Carton explained that she also asked Mezzenga about his church and the church’s views.
“And he said he didn’t know, and so then I watched a sermon online, about sexual identity, and it was traditional. I told that to Ben, and he didn’t really have much to say about it,” she said. “I want someone to think about that stuff.”
Earlier in the season, Mezzenga told Carton that he had “no discomfort around that community at all,” after Carton revealed that her sister is gay and that she was no longer religious because of the Catholic Church’s viewpoints on gay marriage, according to Today.

Carton revealed during her conversations with Mezzenga that she didn’t become interested in politics until President Donald Trump came into office and the killing of George Floyd in 2020, according to reports.
“I’m kind of ignorant towards that stuff. Like, I didn’t vote in the last election. As long as I don’t know, it’s not gonna, you know, do much,” Mezzenga reacted. “I’ve kind of just been staying out of it.”
Mezzenga and Carton were not the only couple that differed politically.
Virginia Miller and Devin Buckley also had conversations about their politics, despite Buckley telling Miller that he wasn’t “super big into politics,” according to Today.
Miller told Buckley that she was open to different political views, but said it would be alarming if Buckley was “way on the other side of the spectrum” on certain issues.
