General Situation

An intense northeast monsoon is affecting the coast of southern China. Besides, under the influence of sand and dust weather, visibility is relatively low over parts of Guangdong.

Forecast Description

Mainly cloudy with relatively low visibility in some areas. The minimum temperature in the morning will be about 18 degrees in the urban areas, and a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories. Very dry with sunny intervals during the day. The maximum temperature will be around 23 degrees. Fresh northerly winds at first, strong offshore and occasionally up to gale force winds on high ground. Winds will moderate later.
Mainly fine and very dry in the following couple of days, with a rather large temperature difference between day and night. Relatively humid in the latter part of this week.

The Strong Monsoon Signal is now in force. Strong winds with mean speed exceeding 40 kilometres per hour are expected from the north. Gusts will occasionally reach gale force.
In the past hour ending 1:30 a.m., the maximum sustained winds recorded at Cheung Chau were 53 kilometres per hour with maximum gust 75 kilometres per hour.

2. Small craft owners should make arrangements for the safety of their boats. Make sure that all deck fittings are firmly fastened.
