General Situation
Areas of intense thundery showers associated with a trough of low pressure is affecting the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary. Locally, around 10 millimetres of rainfall were recorded over many places around noon. Besides, gusts of around 80 kilometres per hour were once recorded at Green Island.
Forecast Description
Mainly cloudy with occasional showers. Showers will be heavier in some areas at first with severe squally thunderstorms. Fresh northerly winds, occasionally strong offshore and on high ground at first.
Occasional showers and a few thunderstorms tomorrow. Winds will strengthen from the north at night and temperatures will begin to fall. Slightly cooler in the morning on Sunday and Monday. Temperatures will be about 20 to 22 degrees. The weather will improve and dry during the day.

Weather Warning Information
Thunderstorm Warning issued at 10:10 a.m. on 9 May 2025 will remain in force until 12:30 p.m. today. Severe squally thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong.
Gusts of around 80 kilometres per hour were recorded at Green Island at around 11:05 a.m.
Violent gusts reaching 90 kilometres per hour or above may affect Hong Kong.
Members of the public are advised to take the following precautions when thunderstorms occur:
1. Seek safe shelter immediately if you are staying outdoors.
2. Leave the water. Do not swim outdoors or engage in other outdoor water sports.
3. Do not stand on high grounds. Keep away from highly conductive objects, trees or masts.
4. Take precautions against violent gusts. Beware of flying debris and falling objects.
5. Drivers using highways and flyovers should reduce speed to be alert to violent gusts.
