Melania Trump honors former first lady in a special way: ‘Her legacy lives on’

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

First lady Melania Trump hosted a special ceremony this week announcing the latest commemorative stamp honoring the legacy of former first lady Barbara Bush. Fox News Digital was on hand for the event.

Mrs. Trump was joined on stage in the East Room of the White House on Thursday by Doro Bush Koch, daughter of Barbara Bush; Alice Yates, CEO of the George & Barbara Bush Foundation; and Judy de Torok, vice president of corporate affairs at the U.S. Postal Service.

“Barbara’s unwavering conviction, dignity and deep loyalty to her loved ones have left an indelible mark on our hearts and history,” said Mrs. Trump. (See the video at the top of this article.)

FIRST LADY MELANIA TRUMP WELCOMES MILITARY MOMS TO WHITE HOUSE FOR MOTHER’S DAY

Barbara Bush, wife of 41st President George H. W. Bush, served as first lady of the United States from 1989 to 1993 and second lady from 1981 to 1989.

Members and friends of the Bush family attended along with former Bush White House staffers.

The stamp features a portrait of Mrs. Bush by American artist Charles Fagan, who was also in attendance.

“The unveiling of this commemorative stamp honors Barbara Bush’s contributions as first lady and her enduring impact on our nation,” Melania Trump also noted.

FIRST LADY MELANIA TRUMP OPENS WHITE HOUSE GARDENS TO ALL AMERICANS

“May this tribute inspire us to lead with compassion, act with strength, and uphold the values that direct us toward a meaningful existence.”

The youngest daughter of Barbara and George paid a special tribute to her mother, touching on her personal life, parenting, cause of literacy and dedication to the nation.

“Barbara Bush, known to many as mom, Ganny, the Silver Fox, or most famously in our family, the Enforcer, will forever be remembered for her strength, abounding love for family, quick wit, and deep commitment to literacy,” said Bush Koch.

“[My father was the] only man she would ever kiss at a school dance,” their daughter added.

“Two years later, she was engaged to George H.W. Bush, beginning a partnership that would span decades and help shape history. Little did she know the adventures ahead.”

“Mom told her staff she wanted to do something every day to help others, so that’s what she did. She scheduled many events and visits that highlighted a need helped encourage volunteerism or focused on literacy,” Bush Koch shared.

Melania Trump and Bush Koch both highlighted Barbara Bush’s 1990 commencement speech at Wellesley College, in which she encouraged graduates to believe in something larger than themselves, to get involved in some of the big ideas of the day.

“Barbara Bush’s iconic commencement address at Wellesley College in 1990 remains an important moment in the conversation surrounding women’s roles in society. Her message, which emphasized the importance of family and personal integrity, encouraged women to carve their own paths in life,” said Trump.

Bush Koch noted a “defining moment” when her mother cradled an infant with HIV at a time when there was a stigma surrounding the disease.

“That simple, compassionate act, captured in a photo that made national headlines, spoke louder than words ever could. Mom was never one to shy away from speaking the truth or taking a stand,” said Bush Koch.

Mrs. Trump shared that the hallmark of Bush’s legacy is not just her respect for tradition but also the ways in which she broke convention.

“While she is known for championing literacy, she also supported women’s empowerment, changed the national conversation on AIDS, and took a stance supporting gay rights,” said the first lady.

“Her legacy lives on not only in history books, but in the hearts of everyone she touched. It’s unlikely that Mom ever pictured herself on a postage stamp, and it’s very likely that she would be wondering what all this fuss is about today,” said Bush Koch.

GOP senator tears into Dems for defending deported alleged MS-13 member

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, mocked “crazy town” Democrats for defending illegal immigrants like alleged MS-13 gang member and Salvadoran national Kilmar Abrego Garcia over U.S. citizens, saying that many seem to have an incurable case of Trump derangement syndrome.

Cruz’s comments came after several Democratic lawmakers, including Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen, traveled to El Salvador to advocate for Abrego Garcia’s return to the U.S. after he was deported to his home country. The remarks also came just before Newark, N.J., Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested Friday after joining several members of Congress in storming an ICE detention facility.

“It is a very bizarre political decision that the Democrats have made,” Cruz said. “They have decided that they are the party of illegal immigrants and the party of gang members.”

“The vast majority of Americans,” he went on, “don’t want more gang members and violent criminals in this country, and it really is a shame the Democrats have gotten so extreme in their hatred of Donald Trump that the one thing they can stand for is more illegals and more gang members.”

DEM IMMIGRATION TALKING POINTS FIZZLE AS DARK PICTURE OF ABREGO GARCIA EMERGES

Bringing up Van Hollen’s and other Democrats’ trips to El Salvador on behalf of Abrego Garcia, Cruz said: “We’re seeing Democrat senators, Democrat house members flying down to El Salvador and putting all their political capital behind the position that we need more illegal immigrants in America, we need more criminals in America, and we need more MS-13 gang members in America.”

“I think Trump derangement syndrome is a real mental illness,” he went on. “I think they hate Donald Trump so much that it has driven them to crazy town. . . . Why is it that Democrats care so much about supporting violent criminal illegal aliens, they care so much about supporting MS-13 gang members?”

Though many Democrats claim that Abrego Garcia is an innocent man who was wrongly deported, the administration has pointed to considerable evidence that he is a member of the MS-13 gang.

According to police and court records shared with Fox News Digital, Abrego Garcia was arrested in Hyattsville, Maryland, in October 2019, at which point he was identified by the Prince George’s County Police Gang Unit as an MS-13 gang member.

WHO IS THE DEMOCRATIC GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE ARRESTED FOR TRESPASSING AT AN ICE DETENTION CENTER?

A federal immigration court in Baltimore further determined that Abrego Garcia was not eligible for release, because he had “failed to meet his burden of demonstrating that his release from custody would not pose a danger to others, as the evidence shows that he is a verified member of MS-13.”

Several DHS sources have confirmed to Fox News Digital records indicating that Abrego Garcia also had been pulled over by a Tennessee highway patrol trooper while driving an SUV belonging to Jose Ramon Hernandez Reyes, another illegal alien who in 2020 confessed to human smuggling across the U.S.-Mexico border.

Fox News Digital has also reviewed court documents filed by Abrego Garcia’s wife, Jennifer Vasquez Sura, alleging that he had seriously beaten and verbally abused her multiple times and mentally abused her children.

In April, the Supreme Court upheld a lower court’s decision ordering the Trump administration to arrange Abrego Garcia’s return.

MS-13, TREN DE ARAGUA TARGETED FOR DEATH BLOW IN NEW GOP BILL AIMED AT MIGRANT CRIME

The court required the “government to ‘facilitate’ Abrego Garcia’s release from custody in El Salvador and to ensure that his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent to El Salvador.”

The Trump administration agreed to clear any administrative obstacles keeping Abrego Garcia from returning to the U.S., but Attorney General Pam Bondi has said that returning him is “up to El Salvador if they want to return him. That’s not up to us.”

After Fox News Digital asked Van Hollen whether he was aware of the domestic violence allegations against Abrego Garcia before he went to visit him in El Salvador, the senator became defensive, saying: “What I said here was these issues need to be litigated in the courts, okay?”

“What Donald Trump needs to do is put up or shut up in the courts, and he’s just not done that,” he went on.

“My response is, always stick to the Constitution, stick to the due process rights of people who live in America, and if we all do that, then we’ll be doing the right thing for our country.”

US-China trade talks begin as President Trump pushes for fair deal

President Donald Trump and his administration inked a major trade deal with the U.K. Thursday, and closed the week gearing up for trade talks with China over the weekend.

Details of the specific trade plan with the U.K. are sparse, but the deal keeps the existing 10% tariffs in place against U.K. goods while removing some import taxes on items like steel and cars.

“With this deal, the U.K. joins the United States in affirming that reciprocity and fairness is an essential and vital principle of international trade,” Trump said Thursday. “The deal includes billions of dollars of increased market access for American exports, especially in agriculture, dramatically increasing access for American beef, ethanol and virtually all of the products produced by our great farmers.”

TRUMP SIGNALS CHINA ‘VERY MUCH’ INTERESTED IN SECURING TRADE DEAL AHEAD OF SWITZERLAND NEGOTIATIONS

The deal is the first historic trade negotiation signed following Liberation Day, when Trump announced widespread tariffs for multiple countries April 2 at a range of rates.

The administration later adjusted its initial proposal and announced April 9 it would immediately impose a 145% tariff on Chinese goods, while reducing reciprocal tariffs on other countries for 90 days to a baseline of 10%. China responded by raising tariffs on U.S. goods to 125%.

Trump also shed some insight into trade negotiations with China, given that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is scheduled to kick off trade negotiations with China in Switzerland Saturday.

“Scott’s going to be going to Switzerland, meeting with China,” Trump told reporters Thursday at the White House. “And you know, they very much want to make a deal. We can all play games. Who made the first call, who didn’t make them? It doesn’t matter. Only matters what happens in that room. But I will tell you that China very much wants to make a deal. We’ll see how that works out.”

Here’s what also happened this week:

Meeting with Canada’s prime minister

Trump also doubled down on his interest in expanding the U.S. during a Tuesday visit with Canada’s prime minister, Mark Carney.

Trump regularly has said he wants Canada to become a U.S. state, and has discussed acquiring Greenland and the Panama Canal for security purposes. However, the matter of Canada isn’t open to negotiation, Carney said.

“Having met with the owners of Canada over the course of the campaign the last several months, it’s not for sale,” Carney said at the White House Tuesday. “Won’t be for sale ever, but the opportunity is in the partnership and what we can build together. We have done that in the past, and part of that, as the president just said, is with respect to our security, and my government is committed for a step change in our investment in Canadian security and our partnership.”

CARNEY SAYS CANADA IS NOT FOR SALE, TRUMP REPLIES ‘NEVER SAY NEVER’

While Trump acknowledged that Canada was stepping up its investment in military security, he said, “Never say never” in response to Canada becoming another state.

“I’ve had many, many things that were not doable, and they ended up being doable,” Trump said.

Meeting with ballet dancer freed from Russian prison

Trump also met with Russian-American ballet dancer, Ksenia Karelina, at the White House Monday. Karelina faced a sentence of 12 years in a Russian penal colony for treason in 2024, but the Trump administration negotiated her return to the U.S. during a U.S.-Russian prisoner swap in April.

“Mr. Trump, I’m so, so grateful for you to bring me home and for (the) American government. And I never felt more blessed to be American, and I’m so, so happy to get home,” Karelina said in a video posted by Trump deputy assistant Sebastian Gorka on April 11 upon her return to the U.S.

Karelina, a resident of Los Angeles who was born in Russia, was arrested in 2024 during a trip to visit family in Yekaterinburg, Russia. Russia Federal Security Service arrested her after inspecting her phone and finding a donation to a U.S.-based charity that supports Ukraine.

Red state lawmaker who recently ditched Dems announces he’s running for gov

Florida state Sen. Jason Pizzo, who announced last month that he was switching from Democrat to no party affiliation, has revealed that he plans a Sunshine State gubernatorial bid.

“Yes I am,” Pizzo said after CBS News Miami’s Jim Defede asked the state senator whether he plans to run for governor.

In a written statement to Fox News Digital, Pizzo declared, “Florida is ready for someone to put people before party, and get … back to basics in public service. The state is facing significant fiscal and resiliency challenges, and I’m [the] best one to guide us through.”

CNN commentator roars with laughter over ‘The View’ host’s claim about Biden’s honesty

CNN senior political commentator Scott Jennings laughed at fellow network commentator Ana Navarro Thursday night after she insisted former President Joe Biden doesn’t “tell many lies.”

The conservative commentator burst out laughing at Navarro – also a co-host on ABC’s “The View” – after she denied reporting that Biden had told former Vice President Kamala Harris to leave “no daylight” between their agendas while she campaigned for president last year.

Navarro recounted that Biden denied the “daylight” comment during a live interview on “The View” earlier in the day and said she believed him, adding that she doesn’t think he lies often.

Jennings asked her of Biden, “You think he’s ever told a lie?” Navarro replied, “I don’t think he tells many lies,” prompting Jennings to bend over laughing.

JEN PSAKI RECALLS REACTION TO BIDEN’S DEBATE, ‘HEARTBREAKING’ SUMMER BEFORE 2024 EXIT: ‘I WAS LIKE, IS HE OK?’

The clash came several hours after Navarro and her “View” co-hosts spoke to Joe and Jill Biden on the set of the ABC talk show Thursday morning, asking him about claims made in a new book that he requested that Harris leave “no daylight” between them.

“Well, look, first of all, I did not advise her to say that, number one. Like I said, I was vice president. I understand the role, number one,” he said. “Number two, I think it was, I think she was talking about, she wouldn’t have changed the successes we had, not opposed to, we wouldn’t change anything at all. She has to be her own person, and she was.”

Biden’s response conflicted with reporting in “Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House,” the book written by reporters Amie Parnes and Jonathan Allen in the aftermath of the 2024 election.

Biden’s alleged request to his then-vice president was seen as one of the contributing reasons for her loss. Critics have claimed Harris didn’t do enough to separate herself from her ex-boss’s unpopular presidency.

Jennings confronted Navarro over the answer she received from Biden on her other show, suggesting she’d rather believe Biden’s statements over Parnes and Allen’s reporting.

“It’s been reported. He told [Harris] point-blank – he told her point-blank, ‘No daylight, kid. No daylight,’” the conservative said, as Navarro tried to speak over him.

BIDEN TELLS ‘THE VIEW’ HE WASN’T SURPRISED HARRIS LOST, BLAMES SEXISM, RACISM

“The View” co-host shot back that Jennings, a media critic, was buying the journalists’ claims without much skepticism.

“Oh, because reporting can never be wrong?” she asked.

“Are you attacking the journalism around it?,” he replied.

“You think reporting can never be wrong? You come in and you come on here and you attack reporting every night! We actually asked him the question directly,” Navarro responded, referencing her interview with Biden.

Jennings rejected Biden’s response, saying, “There’s critical reporting about this guy, and he told her point-blank, ‘No daylight.'”

After Jennings laughed at her denial that Biden wasn’t being honest, Navarro hit back, “No. You know why you don’t get to laugh like that? Because you support a guy who lies every freaking day and lies continuously. You support a guy who cannot acknowledge that he lost the 2020 election, and that lies about it.”

By this point in the discussion, the two were almost yelling at each other, prompting CNN anchor Abby Phillip to end the segment.

Following the interview, Jennings continued defending his point on X, sharing the image of Allen’s headline mentioning Biden’s alleged “daylight” claim.

In the post, the CNN commentator invited the authors of the Biden book to refute Navarro and Biden’s statements, writing, “Care to weigh in, @amieparnes and @jonallendc? You’ve been called liars here on the ‘no daylight kid’ moment – but my bet is you’ve got it right and Joe Biden can’t remember what he had for breakfast yesterday. This will not age well.”

Allen replied to Jennings on Friday morning, declaring “We stand by our reporting, which @TheView noted was deeply sourced.”

In a follow-up post, Allen even argued that Biden had not even denied the “daylight” claim specifically.

He wrote, “Also, Biden was asked a two-part question. 1) Harris saying ‘there’s not a thing that comes to mind’ on The View. 2) that he encouraged her to have ‘no daylight’ from him. He answered the first — ‘I did not advise her to say that’ — and ignored the second. Roll tape.”

Warning issued on head-turning new drink trend that could crush alcohol sales

A head-turning new trend is hitting bars across America, and it is likely to have a major impact on the spirits market, according to “Bar Rescue” host Jon Taffer.

Cannabis-infused drinks are gaining popularity as an alternative for consumers embracing an alcohol-free lifestyle, and although the effects on the market are too early to tell, Taffer asserts there is “no question” it is shaking up the industry.

CBD- AND THC-INFUSED MOCKTAIL BRAND SOLD IN STATES WHERE CANNABIS PRODUCTS ARE LEGAL AS INDUSTRY GROWS

“There’s clearly a trend in that direction… And there’s no question cannabis is affecting the spirits industry,” Taffer said Wednesday during an appearance on “Varney & Co.”

CBD-infused beverages are a steadily growing category. In 2021, cannabidiol products generated $5.3 billion and by 2026 are projected to increase to $16 billion, according to Statista.

DOCTOR WARNS OF CANNABIS-RELATED MEDICAL RISKS: LEGAL DOES NOT MEAN SAFE

This year, the cannabis market in the U.S. is anticipated to exceed $45 billion.

However, Taffer noted an existing hurdle, spotlighting that many states do not permit the sale of alcohol and cannabis in the same environment.

Minnesota is one of the few states that currently allows the sale of hemp and low-dose THC beverages at breweries, and in some cases, even offers on-tap options.

California has taken a strict stance on beverages containing THC. The state’s Department of Alcohol Beverage Control issued an industry advisory stating that alcohol-licensed businesses may not carry or sell hemp products.

Despite the red tape, some celebrities have hopped into the market, including country music legend Willie Nelson.

Billy Joel’s wife, Alexis Roderick Joel, is speaking out about her journey with endometriosis.

Alexis, who has been married to the 75-year-old rock legend since 2015, struggled with debilitating symptoms, misdiagnoses and failed surgeries for years before later discovering that she was suffering from the frequently misunderstood condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus.

During the time in which Alexis was battling her then-unknown disease and experiencing chronic pain, she was also raising her two young children and accompanying Billy while he performed at concerts around the world.

While speaking with Fox News Digital, Alexis admitted that being on tour with Billy and her children while dealing with the symptoms of endometriosis had been “really rough.”

BILLY JOEL POSTPONES CONCERTS FOR 4 MONTHS DUE TO ‘MEDICAL CONDITION’

“I was doing it, but I was not doing it very well,” she said.

Alexis continued, “So, especially with kids, if you’ve ever traveled with children and done a time zone change, that alone is an insane situation. So, if you add in also having a husband, that requires time and attention — you know, he’s working, we’re not vacationing. And me going through what I’m going through, it was really rough.

“Luckily, when he’s touring, we have a lot of support, which was really helpful,” And it was huge. So I’m lucky in that I do have people to help me. And you have to, because you reach your limit. I mean, there’s nothing you can do.”

Alexis and the “Piano Man’ singer share daughters Della, 9, and Remy, 7. Billy is also father to daughter Alexa Ray Joel, 39, whom he shares with his ex-wife Christie Brinkley, 71.

Alexis explained that it was an especially challenging time because neither she nor Billy knew what was causing her symptoms.

“We all entered this not knowing anything about it, I think as most of us do,” she explained. “And it’s difficult because I know that I didn’t feel well.”

“And I also know I didn’t want him to tell me that I didn’t feel well,” Alexis continued with a laugh. “Your fuse is very short at that point when you’re dealing with two little kids traveling the world and you’re in excruciating pain. And every day, you don’t know what your day is going to be like, so it’s difficult to plan.”

“But as time has gone on, he’s extremely supportive,” she added. “So picking up where I leave off and covering my deficits during that time was huge. We’re just always researching — he’ll email me articles like ‘Did you know that this happens with endometriosis?'”

“Never in a million years would I think that he would be sending me that kind of stuff, but when you’re watching someone suffer, you pick up. You have to. It’s what we do, we’re a family.”

Over the past few months, Billy has been struggling with health challenges of his own.

In March, the five-time Grammy Award winner shared a statement on social media in which it was announced that he was postponing eight tour dates due to a “medical condition.”

“The current tour will be postponed for four months to allow him to recover from recent surgery and to undergo physical therapy under the supervision of his doctors,” the statement read.

“Joel is expected to make a full recovery. The tour will resume at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on July 5, 2025.”

Billy shared a personal comment as well, writing, “While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first. I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans. Thank you for your understanding.”

During her interview with Fox News Digital, Alexis shared an update on her husband’s health.

“He’s doing well,” she said. “It’s funny, I was just having this conversation the other day. He’s going to be 76. And I don’t think of him that way. People don’t think of him in that way, but he is. And he’s been doing this job nonstop for 15 years — just this recent run.”

“With the exception of COVID, he’s been working every two weeks for 15-plus years,” Alexis continued. “And it’s a lot. At 75, 76, there comes a time where you can’t always plan out everything you need to do a year and a half in advance, you know? And that’s how long these schedules are. That’s when you’re booking things. You’re booking it that long prior.”

“So, sometimes your health has to take priority, and things have to get postponed,” she noted. “But really, in the grand scheme of things, he’s a healthy person, and he’s well and working on himself, trying to get better and do what he has to do medically. So it’s important, you know, we need him around so he has to do what he has to do. I had to do what I had to do. Now he has to do what he has to do.”

“But at least I’m able to pick up his deficits now, so it’s OK.”

Alexis, who usually stays out of the spotlight, first went public with her health battle in a post shared on Billy’s Instagram page during Endometriosis Awareness Month in March.

She posted a photo of herself posing with Dr. Tamer Seckin, who she described in the caption as her “earth angel.” Seckin is a New York-based gynecologist, laparoscopic surgeon and endometriosis specialist who co-founded the Endometriosis Foundation of America (EndoFound) with celebrity chef Padma Lakshmi in 2009. In her post, Alexis recalled how she had found Seckin and how he had been able to treat her condition.

“We all have war stories, and I am no different: years of pain, misdiagnosis, failed surgeries, followed by internal bleeding, and most importantly, Doctor after Doctor telling me I was fine,” Alexis wrote. “I ran the gamut from ‘It’s all in your head’ to ‘Just get a hysterectomy.'”

She continued, “I had gone to my third ER out of excruciating pain. I was non-functional. This was the moment I just started researching specialists and everything pointed me to him.”

“One surgery later, 27 lesions removed, one less appendix and my entire abdominal cavity rid of this horrible disease. I am forever grateful,” Alexis added. “The work he does with The Endometriosis Foundation of America is so important to this battle.  They work to raise awareness, implement teaching in schools, and continue his research for the next generation.  Our family has privately supported this work, but in honor of March being Endometriosis Awareness Month, I wanted to do my part to help others who are unheard.  It is a tough road, but believe in yourself and find your earth angel – they are out there!”

On May 1, Billy joined Alexis as she spoke at a press conference to announce the grand opening of the Seckin Endometriosis Center for Women’s Health at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL). EndoFound and CSHL partnered to establish the center, which was named after Seckin. According to a press release, it is the first dedicated endometriosis research center within a leading U.S. basic science institution.

Billy later posted photos from the event on his Instagram page, noting in the caption that the Joel Foundation, which he co-founded with Alexis, supports the work of EndoFound.

Endometriosis is estimated to affect more than one in 10 women of reproductive age — over 200 million worldwide. Though surgery can help alleviate pain from endometriosis, symptoms may eventually return. There is currently no cure for endometriosis.

Pope Leo XIV’s Chicago sports allegiance revealed in stunning footage

As the first -ever Pope to hail from the U.S., Robert Prevost’s American sports ties quickly became a point of global conversation after he was appointed Pope Leo XIV.

As a Chicago native, Prevost’s White Sox fandom came to light this week, and it turns out he’s not just a casual fan either. Footage of Prevost attending Game 1 of the 2005 World Series surfaced on social media Friday.

By pure chance, Prevost was shown on the MLB on FOX broadcast for that game at U.S. Cellular Field on Oct. 22, 2005, and the cameras caught him during the top of the ninth inning as the White Sox were clinching a 5-3 win over the Houston Astros.

The White Sox went on to win the series in a four-game sweep, for their only championship since 1917.

Prevost was first revealed as a White Sox fan when his brother, John Prevost, mentioned it in an interview with WGN-TV.

“He was always a Sox fan,” John said.

But the Pope’s rooting interest apparently might not end with baseball.

Reverand Robert P. Hagan, a friend of Prevost’s and a chaplain at the Pope’s alma mater, Villanova University, told The Athletic about Prevost’s link to the New York Knicks and their star lineup of former Villanova players.

CHET LEMON, WORLD SERIES CHAMPION WITH TIGERS, DIES AT 70

“We’ve had a lot of fun watching the Knicks, because Jalen (Brunson) and Josh (Hart) and Donte (DiVincenzo) was there, and now Mikal (Bridges) is there,” Hagan said. “I think that Pope Leo will still keep an eye on the Nova Knicks. I think he’ll still keep an eye on the Wildcats, and I think he’ll be very proud of not just who they are but the way that they play with a certain spirit and unselfishness.”

Leo XIV was first brought to the Vatican by Pope Francis to serve as prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops in January 2023, which is one of the most important positions in the Catholic Church, as it vets bishop nominations issued globally.

Francis then elevated him to the position of Cardinal in September 2023.

Leo was reported to be closely aligned to Francis’ teachings as leader of the Catholic Church, particularly when it came to his positions regarding the environment, outreach to the poor and migrants, and opening the Catholic Church to embrace more followers.

In 2015, Leo obtained Peruvian citizenship. He remained in Peru until he was moved to the Vatican in 2023.

During his final years in Peru, Leo also served as vice president of the permanent council of the Peruvian Bishops’ Conference from 2018 to 2023, which likely helped him secure his role as prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops under Francis.

Unexpected state just named top destination for pizza in America

The No. 1 destination for pizza in America isn’t New York.

And it’s not Chicago either.

That distinction belongs to … New Hampshire.

That’s right. Each U.S. state was ranked by how much it loves pizza, according to research from Maine Lobster Now.

MOST POPULAR BEER IN AMERICA REVEALED IN NEW STUDY

The study analyzed the number of pizzerias per 100,000 residents, along with people’s interest in pizza, by using data from Google searches and the average price of pizza in each state.

Travel + Leisure reported on the study and provided statements from Maine Lobster Now. “New Hampshire is the ultimate destination for pizza lovers,” Maine Lobster Now said in a statement provided to the publication.

Fox News Digital reached out to Maine Lobster Now for additional comment.

The state has 1,022 pizzerias, which equates to about 72.73 pizzerias per 100,000 residents.

This was the highest in the dataset, according to Maine Lobster Now.

PIZZA WITH DILL PICKLES ‘UNDERWHELMS’ CRITICS AS IT LANDS IN GROCERY STORE FREEZERS

“Add in the high pizza enthusiasm of 22,512 pizza-related searches per 100,000 residents and a wallet-friendly average pizza price of $15.74, and you’ve got a state that ensures pizza enthusiasts have ample options at relatively affordable prices,” the Maine-based seafood company said.

Another top state from the study was Ohio — with 4,150 pizzerias.
