Two powerful Democrats let ‘Squad’ member have it over comments about White men

Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville and Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., unloaded on Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, D-Mich., calling out the progressive “Squad” member for resurfaced comments about white men.

During Thursday’s episode of the Politics War Room podcast, Khanna said that “Democrats need to start every speech by saying, ‘America is the greatest country in the world.’”

Carville slammed the progressive wing of the Democratic Party, specifically Omar, for doing more harm than good for the party’s cause.

He clarified, “I am a liberal Democrat,” but added, “I don’t like — let’s just say — the progressive wing of the Democratic Party all right.” “My argument is maybe these people are not worth the trouble. Maybe they should just go their own way.”

JAMES CARVILLE SAYS DEMOCRATS CAN’T AFFORD TO LIE LIKE ‘REPUBLICANS DO’ BECAUSE THEY WOULD LOSE CREDIBILITY

The longtime Democratic strategist continued, focusing his sights on Omar from a resurfaced clip of a 2018 interview in which she said: “I would say our country should be more fearful of White men across our country, because they are actually causing most of the deaths within this country.”

She added at the time, while discussing jihadism, “And so if fear was the driving force of policies to keep America safe, Americans safe inside of this country, we should be profiling, monitoring, and creating policies to fight the radicalization of White men.”

Carville challenged, “Ilhan Omar says that white males are responsible for more deaths than anybody in the country. I have no idea whether that’s true. Why say that?” “Why are we trying to p–s off one-third of the people that are going to vote?”

Carville expanded on his point about isolating voters by breaking down the demographics of the electorate, questioning why progressives are seeking to antagonize “about a third of the electorate.”

“When is somebody going to say: ‘Why don’t you people just learn to shut up about this, you’re not doing anybody any good,’” he asked.

DAVID HOGG CLASHES WITH AN IRATE JAMES CARVILLE OVER DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY PLAN, CALLS ON HIM TO ‘WIN ELECTIONS’

Khanna also offered his take on Omar’s comments on white Americans, saying he disagrees with her on a “substantive level.”

“I think that white Americans have done enormous things for our freedom,” Khanna asserted. “I mean, who are the people who scaled the cliffs of Normandy? Many of them were white men.”

The California congressman continued: “It’s not just I disagree politically, I disagree substantively. This is a great country. It is a kind country. It is a decent country.”

The Indian-American representative went on to recall his own family’s experience of coming to the United States, praising the success his family achieved, which he felt “would not be possible anywhere else.”

Khanna suggested that Democrats start every speech praising America.

“What Democrats should start every speech with is: ‘America is the greatest country in the world. It’s the most open country in the world. It’s the least racist country in the world, and we want to make it better,'” Khanna asserted.

“Tell the caucus there’s no future in us running against white men,” Carville replied.

Rep. Ilhan Omar’s office did not immediately reply to Fox News Digital’s latest request for comment. But she previously told Fox News Digital: “In this nearly 8yr old clip, I am referring to the rise of white nationalism in an annual report issued by the Anti-Defamation League that said white supremacists were responsible for 78 percent of “extremist-related murders,” Omar said. “PS you should look up what “genocidal” actually means when you’re actively supporting a genocide taking place in Gaza.”

Army medic rushed to save girl shot in the street — then the shooter returned

Army Sgt. Brian Lieberman, 22, said he was “just doing his job” when he saved the life of a 14-year-old girl in the middle of a shooting at his apartment complex. But the United States Army believes Lieberman is an American hero, meriting the Soldier’s Medal.

Lieberman, an Army medic, is assigned to the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

The Soldier’s Medal, a prestigious award since its inception in 1926, is presented to those deemed heroic through “clearly recognizable personal hazard or danger and the voluntary risk of life.”

It is not enough to simply have been a “good Samaritan” or to save a life. Rather, a recipient must act without hesitation to put his or her own life on the line.

FIRST LADY MELANIA TRUMP WELCOMES MILITARY MOMS TO WHITE HOUSE FOR MOTHER’S DAY

On June 5, 2023, a gunman attacked the Carrington Place apartment complex in North Carolina, shooting a teenage girl in the back. Army training instincts kicked in, and Lieberman rushed into the line of fire.

“I looked out my window with my roommate and we heard people screaming and saw people running around by my complex pool, at which point I grabbed my weapon and ran out my front door while my roommate dialed 911,” Lieberman said to Fox News Digital.

“As I got downstairs, I approached a group of people and I threw my hands up and stated that I am an army medic and they pointed to an individual that was lying in the street. I was only able to locate a single gunshot wound to her lower back.”

TRUMP TO HOST MILITARY PARADE TO CELEBRATE ARMY’S 250TH BIRTHDAY, HONOR ACTIVE-DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS, VETERANS

After discovering the wound, Lieberman began using his combat medic expertise to treat the victim, including using grocery bags as a makeshift seal. At that point, the gunman returned.

“The shooter’s vehicle drove past us again, and my roommate yelled at me to get down. I threw myself over the girl while the shooters drove by [and] shot at us again, and then that was when I pulled my weapon out to return fire into the suspect’s vehicle.”

Lieberman then continued seeing to the young victim’s wounds until medical personnel arrived on-scene.

The 22-year-old sergeant was awarded the Solider’s Medal on Tuesday at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, for his heroism and selflessness that day.

But Lieberman’s humble, sacrificial nature didn’t start in the Army. For him, he thanks his upbringing for his call to service.

“It all started at home,” said Lieberman. “My mom is currently still a nurse and has been for well over 30 years now and my father was a paramedic and a police officer for [a] combined 30 years as well… I just grew up seeing my parents always go above and beyond, always stop[ping] to help someone in need, no matter where they were, what we were doing.”

An Army citation reads, “Specialist Lieberman’s bravery and willingness to risk his life to protect others is in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon him, the 82d Airborne Division, and the United States Army.”

In truly humble fashion, Lieberman credits others for his brave actions that day.

“I would have not gotten this award if it wasn’t for my roommate in that scenario… But if it wasn’t for him that day, I would not be in the situation that I am in now,” said Lieberman. “I feel like he didn’t get much recognition that he deserves and I feel like he should be sitting right here next to me in this interview and in every single interview.”

“Because he brought me my medical bag, he brought me all the rags that I used to clean up her blood… So he might not have pulled the trigger that day, but he 110% was the reason that I was so successful that day in helping that girl.”

As Shedeur Sanders continued his unprecedented fall in the NFL Draft last month, President Donald Trump took to social media to voice his support for the quarterback.

“I was truly thankful. I was truly thankful for it,” Sanders, 23, told reporters Saturday.

“Including him there is a lot of fans, a lot of people in barbershops, a lot of hairstylists, a lot of fans of me and of my craft and of my family that was there to support. I was just thankful that I have that foundation overall. As people, we could all come together as one.”

Trump took to Truth Social to express his frustration with the former Colorado star not being selected before the second round began.

“What is wrong with NFL owners, are they STUPID? Deion Sanders was a great college football player, and was even greater in the NFL. He’s also a very good coach, streetwise and smart! Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has PHENOMENAL GENES, and is all set for Greatness,” Trump wrote.

SHEDEUR SANDERS’ FIRST LOOK AT BROWNS LOCKER HAS DEION SANDERS CRACKING JOKES: ‘LET’S GO #2 I MEAN #12’

“He should be ‘picked’ IMMEDIATELY by a team that wants to WIN. Good luck Shedeur, and say hello to your wonderful father!”

The Cleveland Browns selected Sanders with the 144th overall pick in the fifth round, and Sanders will compete for the starting quarterback job.

Sanders is one of five quarterbacks on the roster, and the team does not have a clear starter. Deshaun Watson ruptured an Achilles tendon in January for a second time after he underwent surgery on that same tendon in October 2024. His status for the upcoming season is in doubt.

The Browns acquired Kenny Pickett in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles and signed Joe Flacco to a one-year contract before the NFL Draft. With the additions of third-round pick Dillon Gabriel and Sanders to an already packed quarterback room, it remains to be seen who will get the Week 1 nod.

Sanders and Gabriel took the field for the first time as members of the Browns during the team’s first rookie minicamp Friday.

Unexpected state just named top destination for pizza in America

The No. 1 destination for pizza in America isn’t New York.

And it’s not Chicago either.

That distinction belongs to … New Hampshire.

That’s right. Each U.S. state was ranked by how much it loves pizza, according to research from Maine Lobster Now.

MOST POPULAR BEER IN AMERICA REVEALED IN NEW STUDY

The study analyzed the number of pizzerias per 100,000 residents, along with people’s interest in pizza, by using data from Google searches and the average price of pizza in each state.

Travel + Leisure reported on the study and provided statements from Maine Lobster Now. “New Hampshire is the ultimate destination for pizza lovers,” Maine Lobster Now said in a statement provided to the publication.

Fox News Digital reached out to Maine Lobster Now for additional comment.

The state has 1,022 pizzerias, which equates to about 72.73 pizzerias per 100,000 residents.

This was the highest in the dataset, according to Maine Lobster Now.

PIZZA WITH DILL PICKLES ‘UNDERWHELMS’ CRITICS AS IT LANDS IN GROCERY STORE FREEZERS

“Add in the high pizza enthusiasm of 22,512 pizza-related searches per 100,000 residents and a wallet-friendly average pizza price of $15.74, and you’ve got a state that ensures pizza enthusiasts have ample options at relatively affordable prices,” the Maine-based seafood company said.

Another top state from the study was Ohio — with 4,150 pizzerias.

What sets Ohio apart is its high number of searches (28,563) per 100,000 residents, according to the study.

HOT DOG TOWERS ARE A BUDGET-FRIENDLY REPLACEMENT FOR SEAFOOD TOWERS

That’s the highest search ratio in the top five states.

The next three states in the top five are, respectively, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Michigan.

“New York ranked 29th.”

The rest of the top 10 states are Kansas, West Virginia, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Indiana.

Kansas is a standout pizza destination for its low average price of $14.96 per pie, according to the study.

New York ranked 29th. The study admits this is shockingly low, probably because the state is known for pizza.

The average pie in New York costs $19.73, making it one of the most expensive pies in the dataset.

The state also only has roughly 19 pizzerias per 100,000 residents.

“It’s hard to reconcile these numbers with New York’s cultural dominance in the pizza world, but its iconic, thin, foldable slices continue to shape America’s love for pizza, regardless of the rankings,” the report stated.

Zach Bryan is taking a stand against a critic.

The “Something in the Orange” singer took to Instagram Friday to call out another singer-songwriter, John Moreland, for a subtle dig he seemingly made about him on his own account.

“$350 M is a lot to pay for the f—in off-brand version of me,” Moreland wrote to his Instagram story. “Y’all have a great day.”

ZACH BRYAN BACKLASH OVER BREAKUP IS LATEST CONTROVERSY AFTER ARREST, DRUNKEN TAYLOR SWIFT COMMENT

Variety reported earlier this week that Bryan had made a new deal with his label, Warner Records, to extend his contract to include at least two more albums. The outlet claimed that he has also either sold or is currently in the process of selling his publishing catalog, and that together, the two deals total $350 million.

Bryan, who wrote and recorded a duet with Moreland called “Memphis; The Blues” on his 2024 album “The Great American Bar Scene,” shared a screenshot of Moreland’s comment and added a response of his own.

“Yooo just saw this from an artist I’ve always respected and supported,” he wrote. “Not trying to be dramatic but refuse to have anyone with a problem with me on my records. Replacing Memphis the Blues. If it goes down for a bit just know this is the reason!”

He added, “No hard feelings! Confused as s—, Tulsans look out for Tulsans!”

In another post, Bryan said that his message would be the last he commented on the matter, explaining, “Not partial to arguing with butt hurt grown men.”

“Memphis; The Blues” is currently unavailable on streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music, though Bryan has assured his fans that this is only temporary.

“Gonna re-release it btw!!!” he wrote in another Instagram post. “All is well!! All is well.”

Moreland did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

This isn’t Bryan’s first time posting about another artist on social media. Last year, the singer deactivated his X account after making a comment about Taylor Swift.

“Eagles > chiefs, Kanye > Taylor, who’s with me,” he tweeted before deleting the message and later shutting down the account. He then explained his line of thinking in a series of posts on his Instagram story.

“For the record guys I wasn’t coming for Taylor the other night,” Bryan wrote on top of a screengrab of Swift’s song with Post Malone, “Fortnight,” on Instagram. “I was drunkenly comparing two records and it came out wrong.”

The “Heading South” singer acknowledged the longtime feud between Swift and West, as he continued to explain, “I know there’s a lot of stuff that clouds around Ye and I was speaking purely musically. I love Taylor’s music and pray you guys know I’m human and tweet stupid things often.”

Bryan, 28, added that he hoped one day to explain to Swift about his controversial social media post. He additionally apologized to Swifties and detailed why he had deactivated his X account.

MLB star worth $313.5M gets earful from owner after complaining about position

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Rafael Devers’ position saga continues, and now, it appears the front office is getting involved.

Devers, who has played third base his entire career with the Boston Red Sox, found himself in a peculiar spot when the team signed Alex Bregman, also a lifelong third baseman (and a much better defensive one), shortly before the season started.

Devers is a three-time All-Star, and despite plenty of turnover in Boston (most notably, trading Mookie Betts in 2020), Devers was the one star the team opted to keep. They signed him to an 11-year deal worth $313.5 million ahead of the 2023 season, which would have been a contract year.

But despite both sides showing loyalty to one another in those discussions, there is now some intense drama brewing.

The plan after Bregman signed appeared to be to move Devers to second, but Devers actually has only DH’d this year. Bregman, meanwhile, has manned the hot corner, and the emergence of rookie Kristian Campbell at second has left Devers without a position in the field.

Well, first baseman Triston Casas is out for the season with a knee injury, and the Sox approached Devers with the idea of playing first base, but he shut it down quite quickly.

Now, it’s being reported that Sox owner John Henry, general manager Craig Breslow and team president Sam Kennedy all flew to Kansas City, where the Sox are playing this weekend, to meet with the four-time All-Star.

Manager Alex Cora spoke privately with Devers on Friday, and it’s been reported that Devers’ attitude about the positions has not been well-received in the clubhouse.

During his public rebuttal of the potential position change, Devers cited the Red Sox’ previous instructions related to him using his glove.

“I know I’m a ballplayer, but at the same time, they can’t expect me to play every single position out there,” Devers said via a translator, per the Boston Globe. “In spring training, they talked to me and basically told me to put away my glove, that I wasn’t going to play any other position but DH.”

“So right now, I just feel like it’s not an appropriate decision by them to ask me to play another position,” he added.

Devers then questioned whether Breslow, the pitcher-turned team executive, had some level of discontent towards him.

“I’m not certain what [issue] he has with me,” Devers told reporters. “He played ball, and I would like to think that he knows that changing positions like that isn’t easy.”

Devers is currently hitting .253, his lowest since a .240 campaign in 2018, his second year in the big leagues. He leads the American League in both strikeouts and walks.

He has not played another position since playing one inning at shortstop in 2023, out of desperation. In total, he has played three career innings at each middle infield position, and well over 8,000 at third.

Stunning footage emerges of Pope Leo XIV at World Series game

As the first -ever Pope to hail from the U.S., Robert Prevost’s American sports ties quickly became a point of global conversation after he was appointed Pope Leo XIV.

As a Chicago native, Prevost’s White Sox fandom came to light this week, and it turns out he’s not just a casual fan either. Footage of Prevost attending Game 1 of the 2005 World Series surfaced on social media Friday.

By pure chance, Prevost was shown on the MLB on FOX broadcast for that game at U.S. Cellular Field on Oct. 22, 2005, and the cameras caught him during the top of the ninth inning as the White Sox were clinching a 5-3 win over the Houston Astros.

The White Sox went on to win the series in a four-game sweep, for their only championship since 1917.

Prevost was first revealed as a White Sox fan when his brother, John Prevost, mentioned it in an interview with WGN-TV.

“He was always a Sox fan,” John said.

But the Pope’s rooting interest apparently might not end with baseball.

Reverand Robert P. Hagan, a friend of Prevost’s and a chaplain at the Pope’s alma mater, Villanova University, told The Athletic about Prevost’s link to the New York Knicks and their star lineup of former Villanova players.

CHET LEMON, WORLD SERIES CHAMPION WITH TIGERS, DIES AT 70

“We’ve had a lot of fun watching the Knicks, because Jalen (Brunson) and Josh (Hart) and Donte (DiVincenzo) was there, and now Mikal (Bridges) is there,” Hagan said. “I think that Pope Leo will still keep an eye on the Nova Knicks. I think he’ll still keep an eye on the Wildcats, and I think he’ll be very proud of not just who they are but the way that they play with a certain spirit and unselfishness.”

Leo XIV was first brought to the Vatican by Pope Francis to serve as prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops in January 2023, which is one of the most important positions in the Catholic Church, as it vets bishop nominations issued globally.

Francis then elevated him to the position of Cardinal in September 2023.

Leo was reported to be closely aligned to Francis’ teachings as leader of the Catholic Church, particularly when it came to his positions regarding the environment, outreach to the poor and migrants, and opening the Catholic Church to embrace more followers.

In 2015, Leo obtained Peruvian citizenship. He remained in Peru until he was moved to the Vatican in 2023.

During his final years in Peru, Leo also served as vice president of the permanent council of the Peruvian Bishops’ Conference from 2018 to 2023, which likely helped him secure his role as prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops under Francis.

Bill Maher issues warning about major ‘dilemma’ for Democratic Party

HBO “Real Time” host Bill Maher condemned some younger elements within the Democratic Party for failing to decry radical Islamic terrorism while supporting anti-Israel demonstrations. He declared that the party is “doomed” if it doesn’t get rid of this fixation.

During the closing monologue of Friday’s HBO talk show, the comedian called out the party for appearing to show more love for the Palestinian cause than for the U.S.

“If the thought leaders in the Democratic Party keep encouraging and not rebuking that America is cringe and the people who run Gaza are great, the Democrats are doomed,” Maher said.

BILL MAHER OFFERS ‘OPEN LETTER’ TO POP STAR CHAPPELL ROAN ON ISRAEL: ‘YOU DON’T KNOW MUCH ABOUT HISTORY’

The comedian began the segment by noting how few young Democrats are proud of their country and how others are embarrassed by it, according to some polling. “Embarrassed? Like America’s your mom picking you up from school?”

He continued, “You’re embarrassed to be an American? Well, guess what? The feeling’s mutual, because you have no perspective.”

Maher then mentioned the dislike for Israel that seems to animate young liberals.

COLUMBIA’S ACTING PRESIDENT SLAMS STORMING OF CAMPUS LIBRARY BY ANTI-ISRAEL AGITATORS: ‘UTTERLY UNACCEPTABLE’

“But here is the dilemma for Democrats,” he said. “Their young people, their key constituency, not only don’t like their own civilization, they like the wrong one. They actually think Hamas is a liberation movement. They chant for the Houthis. They’re chanting ‘We will honor our martyrs’ at Yale. They’re looking for love in all the wrong countries.”

As he displayed several images of Islamic women wearing full body coverings, the host said, “Someone needs to tell the kids that America is not the society where women basically have no rights, where there is zero freedom of religion, and where dissent is punishable by death.”

“Our democracy may be on life support, but we still have elections. They don’t.”

He then called out young Democratic members for supporting the catchphrase, “Globalize the Intifada,” quipping, “As if worldwide suicide bombing and cosplaying Islamic revolutionaries is the answer to our problems.”

Maher also lamented how crowdgoers threw a Palestinian flag over an American flag at a recent Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., rally.

“What should have happened after that is, one of the adults onstage should have told their young loyal followers, ‘This is not a symbol of freedom. This is,’” he said, showing a photo of an American flag.

“Liberals are weak and woke – especially the White ones – and they indulge all sorts of nonsense from their kids, a pattern that then continues on in the Democratic Party. Last election, it was all the gender stuff, the insistence that men can have babies and such. And now I fear that ‘We like the terrorists’ is the new that,” the talk show host added.

How the Trump admin pulled two nuclear superpowers back from the brink of war

As officials in the White House became increasingly concerned about the escalation in the conflict between Pakistan and India, it was decided Friday morning that Vice President JD Vance would call Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Twenty-four hours before President Donald Trump announced on social media Saturday morning that a ceasefire had been reached, the scramble in the White House began.

Senior officials began to fear that the situation could spiral out of control with neither side seriously considering options for de-escalation after Pakistan hit back at Indian military sites on Friday following an Indian missile attack on Pakistan.

The strikes mark the latest escalation between the nuclear-armed rivals, a move triggered by a mass shooting for which India blames Pakistan.

PAKISTAN SAYS IT HAS STRUCK MILITARY TARGETS INSIDE INDIA IN SERIES OF NEW ATTACKS

In his noon phone call with Modi, Vance made it clear that the U.S. believed that there was a high probability of dramatic escalation as the conflict went into the weekend.

The vice president encouraged Modi to consider de-escalation options, including a potential off-ramp that U.S. officials knew the Pakistanis would be amenable to.

Modi listened to the vice president’s message, although he didn’t explicitly indicate openness to any of the options put forth.

Vance’s call to Modi came less than a month after he met with the Indian leader in New Delhi to discuss trade talks.

From that point, key U.S. officials continued to work the phones with their counterparts in India and Pakistan into the night to help re-establish communications between the two sides, allowing them to work out terms for a ceasefire in the next 12 to 18 hours.

PAKISTAN, INDIA SUGGEST POSSIBLE DE-ESCALATION AMID BOTH COUNTRIES’ MISSILE STRIKES

“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE,” President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social just before 8 a.m. on Saturday. Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

House Republican Conference Chair Rep. Lisa McClain, R-Mich., reacted to the president’s announcement by referring to him in a post on X as “The Peace President.”

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted in a statement that he and Vance had engaged with officials from the two foreign countries.

“Over the past 48 hours, Vice President Vance and I have engaged with senior Indian and Pakistani officials, including Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, and National Security Advisors Ajit Doval and Asim Malik,” Rubio said in the statement

“I am pleased to announce the Governments of India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire and to start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site,” he continued. “We commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif on their wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace.”

Vance wrote in a post on X, “Great work from the President’s team, especially Secretary Rubio. And my gratitude to the leaders of India and Pakistan for their hard work and willingness to engage in this ceasefire.”
