DHS warns three Dems of consequences ‘still on table’ for ICE center stunt

A trio of U.S. House Democrats from New Jersey whose visit to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center went off the rails Friday and devolved into a scuffle with federal agents could face arrest, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

Lawmakers LaMonica McIver, Bonnie Watson Coleman and Rob Menendez allegedly stormed the Delaney Hall Detention Center, along with Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, who was arrested and charged with trespassing. Authorities claim an ICE agent was assaulted in the confrontation, which was caught on camera.

“If it was a typical U.S. citizen, and they tried to storm into a detention facility that’s housing dangerous criminals or any person at all, they would be arrested,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told “Fox News Live” host Kevin Corke Saturday. “Just because you are a member of Congress or just because you’re a public official, does not mean you are above the law.

“If you assault a law enforcement officer, we will also make sure you answer to justice,” she added. “So, I think that arrests are still on the table for this. This is an ongoing investigation.”

DHS reportedly has body camera footage of Congress members assaulting ICE officers, “including body-slamming a female ICE officer,” Axios reported.

A group of protesters, including the lawmakers, stormed the detention center as a bus of detainees was entering the security gate, according to a news release from DHS.

After the incident, McIver wrote in an X post that ICE “shoved” her and “manhandled” Watson Coleman.

During a press conference, McIver escalated her claims, saying she was “assaulted by multiple ICE officers while regional directors of ICE watched it happen.”

DHS footage posted to X Saturday appears to show McIver barreling unprovoked through law enforcement near the gate.

“WATCH: US Congresswoman LaMonica McIver (wearing a red blazer), storms the gate of Delaney Hall Detention Center ASSAULTING an ICE agent,” DHS captioned the video.

DHS officials have not yet confirmed any pending charges against those accused of storming the center.

Watson Coleman, who also accused an ICE agent of shoving her, wrote in an X post that she, McIver and Menendez visited the center Friday “to exercise our oversight authority as Members of Congress.”

DHS officials confirmed those being held at the contested prison include “murderers, terrorists, child rapists and MS-13 gang members.”

“Contrary to a press statement put out by DHS we did not ‘storm’ the detention center,” Watson Coleman wrote. “The author of that press release was so unfamiliar with the facts on the ground[s] that they didn’t even correctly count the number of Representatives present.”

Baraka was handcuffed, detained for five hours and formally charged with trespassing.

“They did this on a charge of trespass, a municipal charge which would normally be handled by way of a ticket,” Baraka’s attorneys wrote in a statement provided to Fox News. “His subsequent release by the court demonstrates that there was no reason to believe that this well-known and widely respected public official was either a flight risk or a danger to the community that he served.”

Baraka’s attorneys maintained that the mayor was exercising his First Amendment rights and “acted throughout with calm, restraint and dignity in a law-abiding manner.”

They also accused Alina Habba, the U.S. attorney for New Jersey, of “repeatedly” making “inaccurate, inflammatory, and unfair” public statements.

In an X post Friday, Habba wrote, “The Mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka, committed trespass and ignored multiple warnings from Homeland Security Investigations to remove himself from the ICE detention center in Newark, New Jersey this afternoon. He has willingly chosen to disregard the law. That will not stand in this state. He has been taken into custody. NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.”

Baraka’s attorneys seemingly accused Habba of “falsely ma[king] public statements accusing the Mayor of violating the ‘rule of law’” and “improperly claim[ing] that he is guilty of the trespass charge filed against him.”

DHS referred inquiries from Fox News Digital to the U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey, who did not immediately respond.

Two powerful Democrats let ‘Squad’ member have it over comments about White men

Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville and Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., unloaded on Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., calling out the progressive “Squad” member for resurfaced comments about white men. 

During Thursday’s episode of the Politics War Room podcast, Khanna said that “Democrats need to start every speech by saying, ‘America is the greatest country in the world.’” 

Carville slammed the progressive wing of the Democratic Party, specifically Omar, for doing more harm than good for the party’s cause.

He clarified, “I am a liberal Democrat,” but added, “I don’t like — let’s just say — the progressive wing of the Democratic Party all right.” “My argument is maybe these people are not worth the trouble. Maybe they should just go their own way.”

The longtime Democratic strategist continued, focusing his sights on Omar from a resurfaced clip of a 2018 interview in which she said: “I would say our country should be more fearful of White men across our country, because they are actually causing most of the deaths within this country.” 

She added at the time, while discussing jihadism, “And so if fear was the driving force of policies to keep America safe, Americans safe inside of this country, we should be profiling, monitoring, and creating policies to fight the radicalization of White men.”

Carville challenged, “Ilhan Omar says that white males are responsible for more deaths than anybody in the country. I have no idea whether that’s true. Why say that?” “Why are we trying to p–s off one-third of the people that are going to vote?”

Carville expanded on his point about isolating voters by breaking down the demographics of the electorate, questioning why progressives are seeking to antagonize “about a third of the electorate.”

“When is somebody going to say: ‘Why don’t you people just learn to shut up about this, you’re not doing anybody any good,’” he asked.

Khanna also offered his take on Omar’s comments on white Americans, saying he disagrees with her on a “substantive level.”

“I think that white Americans have done enormous things for our freedom,” Khanna asserted. “I mean, who are the people who scaled the cliffs of Normandy? Many of them were white men.”

The California congressman continued: “It’s not just I disagree politically, I disagree substantively. This is a great country. It is a kind country. It is a decent country.”

The Indian-American representative went on to recall his own family’s experience of coming to the United States, praising the success his family achieved, which he felt “would not be possible anywhere else.”

Khanna suggested that Democrats start every speech praising America. 

“What Democrats should start every speech with is: ‘America is the greatest country in the world. It’s the most open country in the world. It’s the least racist country in the world, and we want to make it better,'” Khanna asserted. 

“Tell the caucus there’s no future in us running against white men,” Carville replied. 

Rep. Ilhan Omar’s office did not immediately reply to Fox News Digital’s latest request for comment. But she previously told Fox News Digital: “In this nearly 8yr old clip, I am referring to the rise of white nationalism in an annual report issued by the Anti-Defamation League that said white supremacists were responsible for 78 percent of “extremist-related murders,” Omar said. “PS you should look up what “genocidal” actually means when you’re actively supporting a genocide taking place in Gaza.”

Krispy Kreme and popular fast-food chain suddenly suspend partnership

Krispy Kreme on Thursday said it is pausing a planned rollout of selling doughnuts in McDonald’s locations nationwide.

The doughnut chain said it is “reassessing the deployment schedule together with McDonald’s while it works to achieve a profitable business model for all parties.”

Krispy Kreme sells doughnuts in more than 2,400 McDonald’s restaurants as of the end of March, and the chain does not expect to add more restaurants in the second quarter of 2025.

“I remain confident in the long-term national opportunity, but we need to work together with them to identify levers to improve sales, simplify operations,” Krispy Kreme CEO Josh Charlesworth said during an earnings call. “And once we’re positioned for profitable growth, we’ll expand further.”

Charlesworth said that demand dropped below expectations after the initial launch, “requiring intervention.”

The two companies announced the partnership in March 2024, and intended to sell the doughnuts at all McDonald’s locations in the U.S. by the end of 2026. 

“Significantly, by making Krispy Kreme accessible to fans nationwide through this partnership, we expect to more than double our points of access by the end of 2026,” Charlesworth said last year as part of the announcement. “The partnership accelerates the development of our existing Delivered Fresh Daily channel, creating operating leverage through distribution density and production utilization.”

Krispy Kreme also pulled its full-year outlook due to “macroeconomic softness and the uncertainty around the McDonald’s deployment schedule.”

Fast-food restaurants have seen sluggish sales due to economic uncertainty weighing on consumers. McDonald’s U.S. same-store sales fell 3.6% in the first quarter, the biggest drop since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

The results echoed warnings from restaurant chains Domino’s Pizza, Chipotle Mexican Grill and Starbucks that Americans were spending less to dine out as inflation and a bleak economic outlook dent consumer confidence.

The Saturday post comes less than two weeks after Markle said that she and Harry are in the “honeymoon” phase of their marriage. 

The 43-year-old likened their relationship to the final round of a video game where you “slay the dragon, save the princess,” and dispelled any notion of divorce on friend Jamie Kern Lima’s podcast late last month following months of speculation.

Zach Bryan is taking a stand against a critic.

The “Something in the Orange” singer took to Instagram Friday to call out another singer-songwriter, John Moreland, for a subtle dig he seemingly made about him on his own account.

“$350 M is a lot to pay for the f—in off-brand version of me,” Moreland wrote to his Instagram story. “Y’all have a great day.”

Variety reported earlier this week that Bryan had made a new deal with his label, Warner Records, to extend his contract to include at least two more albums. The outlet claimed that he has also either sold or is currently in the process of selling his publishing catalog, and that together, the two deals total $350 million.

Bryan, who wrote and recorded a duet with Moreland called “Memphis; The Blues” on his 2024 album “The Great American Bar Scene,” shared a screenshot of Moreland’s comment and added a response of his own.

“Yooo just saw this from an artist I’ve always respected and supported,” he wrote. “Not trying to be dramatic but refuse to have anyone with a problem with me on my records. Replacing Memphis the Blues. If it goes down for a bit just know this is the reason!”

He added, “No hard feelings! Confused as s—, Tulsans look out for Tulsans!”

In another post, Bryan said that his message would be the last he commented on the matter, explaining, “Not partial to arguing with butt hurt grown men.”

“Memphis; The Blues” is currently unavailable on streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music, though Bryan has assured his fans that this is only temporary.

Moreland did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

This isn’t Bryan’s first time posting about another artist on social media. Last year, the singer deactivated his X account after making a comment about Taylor Swift.

“Eagles > chiefs, Kanye > Taylor, who’s with me,” he tweeted before deleting the message and later shutting down the account. He then explained his line of thinking in a series of posts on his Instagram story.

“For the record guys I wasn’t coming for Taylor the other night,” Bryan wrote on top of a screengrab of Swift’s song with Post Malone, “Fortnight,” on Instagram. “I was drunkenly comparing two records and it came out wrong.”

The “Heading South” singer acknowledged the longtime feud between Swift and West, as he continued to explain, “I know there’s a lot of stuff that clouds around Ye and I was speaking purely musically. I love Taylor’s music and pray you guys know I’m human and tweet stupid things often.”

Two injured after military vehicle goes over a wall, plunges from highway

A military Humvee towing a trailer careened off Interstate 90 in Bellevue, Washington, Saturday, crashing over a retaining wall and landing on a street below, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash happened on eastbound I-90 near the Eastgate neighborhood, when the vehicle drifted to the right for unknown reasons and exited the freeway. It then crossed a grassy shoulder and dropped roughly 30 feet onto Southeast 38th St., Trooper Rick Johnson told Fox News Digital.

“This Humvee Tonic Trailer was traveling eastbound on Interstate 90 and drifted right for some reason,” Johnson said. “We don’t really know (the) reason, and (it) left the freeway across like a little grass area and then went over a wall … down onto one of the surface streets below.”

Two people in the military vehicle were taken to a hospital with minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Johnson said the pair were likely taken to Overlake Medical Center, the nearest major hospital in the area, though he could not confirm the specific hospital.

“The sergeant at the scene told me that they were minor injuries, but … the fire department really suggests you go get checked out,” Johnson explained.

The military vehicle was part of a convoy believed to be en route to the Yakima Training Center in central Washington, a common destination via I-90. Johnson noted the Humvee was “pretty damaged.”

Photos shared by Johnson on X showed the aftermath of the crash and the steep drop from the freeway to the street below. He said there was no video footage available at this time, and no dashcam clips had been submitted to the agency.

Stunning footage emerges of Pope Leo XIV at World Series game

As the first -ever Pope to hail from the U.S., Robert Prevost’s American sports ties quickly became a point of global conversation after he was appointed Pope Leo XIV. 

As a Chicago native, Prevost’s White Sox fandom came to light this week, and it turns out he’s not just a casual fan either. Footage of Prevost attending Game 1 of the 2005 World Series surfaced on social media Friday. 

By pure chance, Prevost was shown on the MLB on FOX broadcast for that game at U.S. Cellular Field on Oct. 22, 2005, and the cameras caught him during the top of the ninth inning as the White Sox were clinching a 5-3 win over the Houston Astros.

The White Sox went on to win the series in a four-game sweep, for their only championship since 1917. 

Prevost was first revealed as a White Sox fan when his brother, John Prevost, mentioned it in an interview with WGN-TV. 

“He was always a Sox fan,” John said.

But the Pope’s rooting interest apparently might not end with baseball. 

Reverand Robert P. Hagan, a friend of Prevost’s and a chaplain at the Pope’s alma mater, Villanova University, told The Athletic about Prevost’s link to the New York Knicks and their star lineup of former Villanova players.

Leo XIV was first brought to the Vatican by Pope Francis to serve as prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops in January 2023, which is one of the most important positions in the Catholic Church, as it vets bishop nominations issued globally.

Francis then elevated him to the position of Cardinal in September 2023. 

Leo was reported to be closely aligned to Francis’ teachings as leader of the Catholic Church, particularly when it came to his positions regarding the environment, outreach to the poor and migrants, and opening the Catholic Church to embrace more followers.

In 2015, Leo obtained Peruvian citizenship. He remained in Peru until he was moved to the Vatican in 2023. 

During his final years in Peru, Leo also served as vice president of the permanent council of the Peruvian Bishops’ Conference from 2018 to 2023, which likely helped him secure his role as prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops under Francis.

As officials in the White House became increasingly concerned about the escalation in the conflict between Pakistan and India, it was decided Friday morning that Vice President JD Vance would call Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

Twenty-four hours before President Donald Trump announced on social media Saturday morning that a ceasefire had been reached, the scramble in the White House began. 

Senior officials began to fear that the situation could spiral out of control with neither side seriously considering options for de-escalation after Pakistan hit back at Indian military sites on Friday following an Indian missile attack on Pakistan. 

The strikes mark the latest escalation between the nuclear-armed rivals, a move triggered by a mass shooting for which India blames Pakistan.

In his noon phone call with Modi, Vance made it clear that the U.S. believed that there was a high probability of dramatic escalation as the conflict went into the weekend.

Modi listened to the vice president’s message, although he didn’t explicitly indicate openness to any of the options put forth. 

Vance’s call to Modi came less than a month after he met with the Indian leader in New Delhi to discuss trade talks. 

From that point, key U.S. officials continued to work the phones with their counterparts in India and Pakistan into the night to help re-establish communications between the two sides, allowing them to work out terms for a ceasefire in the next 12 to 18 hours.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted in a statement that he and Vance had engaged with officials from the two foreign countries.

“Over the past 48 hours, Vice President Vance and I have engaged with senior Indian and Pakistani officials, including Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, and National Security Advisors Ajit Doval and Asim Malik,” Rubio said in the statement.

“I am pleased to announce the Governments of India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire and to start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site,” he continued. “We commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif on their wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace.”

Vance wrote in a post on X, “Great work from the President’s team, especially Secretary Rubio. And my gratitude to the leaders of India and Pakistan for their hard work and willingness to engage in this ceasefire.”

Wreckage of 800-ton ship found after its deadly sinking well over a century ago

Archaeologists are confident they have found the wreckage of an 800-ton Dutch merchant ship that sunk off the coast of Australia 168 years ago. 

The Koning Willem de Tweede was lost near Robe, Australia, in June 1857, killing 16 of its 25 crew members. 

The “significant discovery” was announced this week by the Australian National Maritime Museum and the SilentWorld Foundation after a four-year search. 

The find “connects us to stories of trade and migration, having discharged over 400 Chinese miners just days before its sinking,” the museum said in a post on social media about the discovery. 

ARCHAEOLOGISTS UNCOVER CENTURIES-OLD SHIPWRECK BENEATH ANCIENT CITY: ‘UNIQUE SOURCE OF KNOWLEDGE’

James Hunter, acting manager of maritime archeology at the Australian National Maritime Museum, told the Australian Broadcasting Company (ABC) Wednesday that archaeologists had uncovered several components of the ship, including its windlass, a device that raises and lowers equipment to the ship sticking out of the seabed. 

“We looked at things like the depth of the ship — the draught — and we’ve looked at the water depth it’s sitting in, and that all seems to line up really well,” he told ABC of the confidence they had found its final resting place. 

He added that researchers also found a “magnetic anomaly” that is the same length as the 140-foot ship. 

The museum said the find was a collaboration with the Silentworld Foundation, a nonprofit that supports underwater archeology, and, South Australia’s Department for Environment and Water and Flinders University.

“When the weather has been kind enough, they have carried out survey work searching for the wreck,” SilentWorld said on Facebook Wednesday. “The latest visit to Robe, in association with the team listed above, led to the probable identification of the shipwreck. The visibility was challenging, but still enough for the team to make this incredible call!”

Hunter told ABC the ship may have run aground on the seabed and was buried by sand. 

The team thought it had found the wreck three years ago, but Hunter said the sand made visibility difficult.

“It takes nothing to stir the sand up, and it kind of sits in suspension almost like you’re in a blizzard underwater,” he said.
