General Situation

An easterly airstream brought showers to the coast of Guangdong today. Locally, it was cloudy. Showers mainly affected the eastern part of the territory and brought more than 10 millimetres of rainfall to Sai Kung, Tseung Kwan O and the eastern part of Hong Kong Island. Besides, the trough of low pressure over southern China edged closer to the coastal areas gradually today. Its associated showers and thunderstorms affected the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary at night. The trough of low pressure will continue to bring showers and thunderstorms to the region tomorrow. With the trough of low pressure moving into the northern part of the South China Sea, showers will ease off over the coast of Guangdong in the following couple of days. A strong easterly airstream will also affect the region.

Forecast Description

Cloudy with showers and a few squally thunderstorms. Showers will be heavier in some areas at first. Temperatures will range between 25 and 28 degrees. Moderate east to southeasterly winds, winds strengthening from the east later.
Still a few showers on Friday and Tuen Ng Festival. It will be windy. Hot with sunny periods and a few showers early next week.

Showers and thunderstorms associated with a trough of low pressure are affecting the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary. They may affect Hong Kong in the next couple of hours. Members of the public please be aware of the change in weather.

Thunderstorm Warning was issued at 11:15 p.m. on 28 May 2025. It will be valid until 2:00 a.m. tomorrow. A few thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong.

2. Leave the water. Do not swim outdoors or engage in other outdoor water sports.
3. Do not stand on high grounds. Keep away from highly conductive objects, trees or masts.
