General Situation

The ridge of high pressure over southeastern China is bringing a strong easterly airstream to the coast of southern China. Meanwhile, showers associated with a broad trough of low pressure are affecting the northern part of the South China Sea.

Forecast Description

Mainly cloudy with one or two showers. The maximum temperature will be around 27 degrees. Moderate to fresh easterly winds, strong offshore and on high ground.
Hot with a few showers tomorrow and on Monday. The weather will become unsettled in the following couple of days.

A ridge of high pressure over southeastern China is bringing a strong easterly airstream to the coast of southern China. Locally, it will be windy with one or two showers today (Tuen Ng Festival, 31 May). Besides, the area of low pressure to the east of Hainan Island is bringing unsettled weather to the region. It is expected to move eastwards across the northern part of the South China Sea and bring showers to the region today and tomorrow. The Strong Monsoon Signal is now in force. Strong winds with mean speed exceeding 40 kilometres per hour are expected from the east. Gusts will occasionally reach gale force.

2. Those planning for water sports activities and operations at sea should take special care against high winds and rough sea conditions. Conditions are particularly rough over the offshore waters.
