Deputy FBI director reportedly absent from work after dispute over handling of documents
FBI deputy director Dan Bongino is considering resigning over the Justice Department’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files, a source told Fox News Digital, noting that Bongino took a day off from work on Friday due to his frustrations.
Bongino has not been seen in the office since Wednesday, a source told Fox News Digital. He has yet to make a final decision about his future, the source said.
The latest revelation comes on the heels of a heated argument between Bongino and U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi that occurred on Wednesday at the White House, two sources confirmed.
BONDI UNDER SIEGE AFTER DOJ REVEALS NO EPSTEIN CLIENT LIST
Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel have been in touch several times during the past few days and are on the same page, a source told Fox News Digital.
Sources close to Bondi say she has no intention of stepping down and is proud of the department and its work. Patel, too, says he is happy with his job and has no intention of leaving, a source in close contact with the director told Fox News Digital.
“President Trump has assembled a highly qualified and experienced law and order team dedicated to protecting Americans, holding criminals accountable, and delivering justice to victims. This work is being carried out seamlessly and with unity,” White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Harrison Fields told Fox News Digital. “Any attempt to sow division within this team is baseless and distracts from the real progress being made in restoring public safety and pursuing justice for all.”
Earlier on Friday, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche also pushed back on reports of internal strife.
“I worked closely with @FBIDirectorKash and @FBIDDBongino on the joint FBI and DOJ memo regarding the Epstein Files,” Blanche posted on X. “All of us signed off on the contents of the memo and the conclusions stated in the memo.
“The suggestion by anyone that there was any daylight between the FBI and DOJ leadership on this memo’s composition and release is patently false.”
The Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI on Sunday released a joint review that ended theories about an alleged Epstein client list, concluding there was no such list detailing the names of the world’s elite who allegedly took part in Epstein’s history as a sexual predator.
The DOJ also concluded the disgraced financier committed suicide in his New York City jail cell in 2019 while awaiting further sex trafficking charges.
The latest revelation comes on the heels of President Donald Trump’s quip to a White House reporter during a cabinet meeting, in which he called the late sex criminal and financier a “creep.”
“Can I just interrupt for one second?” Trump said after a reporter directed an Epstein question at Bondi. “Are you still talking about Jeffrey Epstein?”

“This guy’s been talked about for years. You’re asking.… We have Texas, we have this, we have all of the things. And are people are still talking about this guy, this creep?” Trump asked. “That is unbelievable.”
Public outrage ensued following the release of a prison surveillance video that the administration used to prove that no one entered Epstein’s cell in the hours leading up to his death.
The 10-hour video, though, has one minute missing, which has fueled conspiracy theories that the administration is participating in a cover-up involving Epstein’s death.
“President Trump is proud of Attorney General Bondi’s efforts to execute his Make America Safe Again agenda, restore the integrity of the Department of Justice, and bring justice to victims of crime. The continued fixation on sowing division in President Trump’s Cabinet is baseless and unfounded in reality,” said White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
Jasmine Crockett makes second surprise appearance at Biden cover-up probe
Progressive firebrand Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, made a second surprise appearance at the House Oversight Committee’s closed-door discussions with former Biden administration aides this week, once again criticizing President Donald Trump on the way out.
Crockett surprised reporters when she arrived roughly 15 minutes after House investigators’ transcribed interview with former White House advisor Ashley Williams began, declining to speak on the way in.
The Texas Democrat emerged just over 30 minutes later, saying little about what went on inside but telling reporters she still had “absolutely” no concerns about Biden’s mental fitness while in office.
She said it was important to “be there physically” for Biden allies being interviewed in the GOP probe – even going as far as suggesting the Trump administration created a threatening environment for members of Congress and its own political opponents.
FAR-LEFT FIREBRAND SAYS SHE ‘NEVER HAD A CONCERN’ ABOUT BIDEN’S MENTAL STATE AS HOUSE PROBE HEATS UP
“It is important…in my mind, to be there for these witnesses. Unfortunately, we know what happens when this regime gets going. We know about the threats that come upon them, that come upon us as members of Congress,” Crockett said.
“I think it is important to stand there in solidarity and to at least be there physically so that they don’t feel like they’re alone as they are enduring egregious attacks consistently from this administration.”
Crockett was the only lawmaker seen going in or out of Williams’ meeting with investigators on Friday. The transcribed interview was expected to be staff-led, and lawmakers were not required to attend.
“Right now, the Republicans continue to act as if this is a main priority. Yet none of them are showing up,” she said.
“I do think that it is important that I show up because if they are going to make allegations about the former commander-in-chief, egregious allegations they continue to wage. I want to make sure that I’m in the room to correct the record, because a lot of times they like to mischaracterize things.”
COMER DISMISSES BIDEN DOCTOR’S BID FOR PAUSE IN COVER-UP PROBE: ‘THROWING OUT EVERY EXCUSE’
When asked by Fox News Digital if the interview was still ongoing as she exited, however, Crockett answered, “It’s still going. I’m leaving early. I’ve got to get to another thing.”
A source familiar with the ongoing proceeding told Fox News Digital that Crockett came in during Republican investigators’ round of questioning and so was unable to make inquiries herself. Fox News Digital reached out to Crockett for a response.
Williams was the former Director of Strategic Outreach under the Biden administration. She did not speak to reporters on the way into her transcribed interview.
Crockett initially caught reporters and potentially even staff off guard when she arrived for the closed-door deposition of Biden’s former White House physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., was there as well, as is the norm for sworn depositions.
Williams, unlike O’Connor, is not on Capitol Hill under subpoena.

During her Wednesday appearance, Crockett declared she never had any concerns about Biden’s mental state while he was president, though she did raise similar claims about Trump.
White House spokesman Harrison Fields told Fox News Digital in response to Crockett questioning Trump’s mental acuity: “The Democrats’ rising star has done more to cement the party’s demise than the President she breathlessly supported, the decrepit and feeble Joe Biden. Jasmine continues to prove she’d be better suited as a reality TV star on VH1 than an elected official on Capitol Hill.”
Comer is investigating accusations that Biden’s former top White House aides covered up signs of his mental and physical decline while in office, and whether any executive actions were commissioned via autopen without the president’s full knowledge. Biden allies have pushed back on those claims.
Director of federal agency suggests Fed Chairman Powell is considering resigning
A Trump administration official on Friday suggested that Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell is reportedly considering resigning.
Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte – a vocal critic of Powell who has backed President Donald Trump’s efforts to pressure the central bank into interest rate cuts – released a statement on X and the agency’s website alluding to unspecified reports that Powell will resign.
“I’m encouraged by reports that Jerome Powell is considering resigning. I think this will be the right decision for America, and the economy will boom,” Pulte said.
It’s unclear where Pulte is getting the information he used for the statement and there is no other public information on the subject at this time.
FOX Business reached out to the Federal Reserve regarding Pulte’s statement. A Fed spokesperson declined to comment and referenced the numerous times that Powell has said he intends to serve out the remainder of his term.
Pulte, who was confirmed to his role by the Senate in March, has repeatedly called for Powell to resign or face investigation over the agency’s handling of monetary policy and other matters on social media since taking office.
In late May, Pulte posted that Powell “needs to lower interest rates” and said the “housing market would be in much better shape if Chairman Powell does this.”
He began calling for Powell’s resignation in mid-June, after central bank policymakers held the benchmark federal funds interest rate target steady for the fourth consecutive meeting. Since then, Pulte has posted multiple criticisms of Powell and calls for his resignation multiple times per day.
Last week, Pulte called for Congress to investigate Powell over “his political bias, and his deceptive testimony, which is enough to be removed ‘for cause.'” He added that that Powell mismanaged the Fed’s headquarters renovation project and said it’s “nothing short of malfeaseance and is worthy of ‘for cause.’”
President Trump has publicly weighed firing Powell, though under federal law he can only be removed for cause.
California medical staff ‘assault’ ICE agents trying to arrest illegal immigrant, DHS says
Staff at a California surgical center were captured on video trying to block Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents from arresting a Honduran landscaper this week, with one telling a federal officer “you don’t even have a warrant for him.”
The tense scene unfolded Tuesday at the Ontario Advanced Surgery Center, located about 30 miles east of Los Angeles.
“Get your hands off of him,” one staff member in blue scrubs is heard saying, shielding the man from an immigration agent. “Let him go. You need to get out.”
The Department of Homeland Security said on X that ICE officers “conducted a targeted enforcement operation to arrest two illegal aliens” and “Officers in clearly marked ICE bulletproof vests approached the illegal alien targets as they exited a vehicle.”
IMMIGRATION OPERATION AT CALIFORNIA CANNIBIS FARMS LEADS TO CLASH BETWEEN FEDERAL AGENTS AND PROTESTERS
“One of the illegal aliens, Denis Guillen-Solis who is from Honduras, fled on foot to evade law enforcement. He ended up near the Ontario Advanced Surgical Center where hospital staff assaulted law enforcement and drug the officer and illegal alien into the facility,” it added.
“Then, the staff attempted to obstruct the arrest by locking the door, blocking law enforcement vehicles from moving, and even called the cops claiming there was a ‘kidnapping,’” Homeland Security also said.
Javier Hernandez, executive director of the Inland Coalition for Immigrant Justice, told The Associated Press that agents eventually arrested the Honduran man following the struggle inside the clinic that was captured on video.

Hernandez added that the man was sending money to Honduras to help his mother with her dialysis treatments.
The incident is one of the latest in a growing series of confrontations with federal immigration officers.
In another incident Tuesday, protesters were seen clashing with ICE agents wielding batons outside the San Francisco Immigration Court.

Walmart recalls 850K water bottles after 2 people suffer permanent vision loss
About 850,000 water bottles sold at Walmart are being recalled after customers reported being struck in the face with the lid, causing some to permanently lose their vision.
The lid of the Ozark Trail 64 oz. Stainless Steel Insulated Water Bottles can forcefully eject, causing “serious impact and laceration hazards,” according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The regulatory agency said this occurs when people attempt to open the capped bottles after food, carbonated beverages or perishable beverages have been stored inside over time.

Walmart has received three reports from people who were injured when struck in the face by the lid that was “forcefully ejected from these bottles upon opening.” Two of them “suffered permanent vision loss” after being struck in the eye, according to the recall notice.

‘Like winning the Willy Wonka factory’: Museum makes stunning ancient discovery
A dinosaur museum made a remarkable discovery in its own parking lot while analyzing geothermal heating potential.
The Denver Museum of Nature and Science in Colorado discovered a fossil bone more than 750 feet under the ground, The Associated Press (AP) reported.
James Hagadorn, the museum’s curator of geology, said the find is “super rare,” according to AP.
ARCHAEOLOGIST UNEARTHS MYSTERIOUS CHRISTIAN SETTLEMENT HIDDEN AWAY FOR CENTURIES
“Finding a dinosaur bone in a core is like hitting a hole in one from the moon,” said Hagadorn.
“It’s like winning the Willy Wonka factory. It’s incredible.”
Using a bore five centimeters wide, museum officials discovered the fossil believed to be from a vertebra of a smallish, plant-eating dinosaur.
The dinosaur lived in the late Cretaceous period, around 67.5 million years ago, AP reported.
Officials also discovered fossilized vegetation in the bore hole near the bone.
“I would love to dig a 763-foot hole in the parking lot to excavate that dinosaur, the rest of it. But I don’t think that’s going to fly because we really need parking,” Hagadorn said.
Patrick O’Connor, curator of vertebrate paleontology at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, told AP this may be Denver’s deepest and oldest find yet.
“This animal was living in what was probably a swampy environment that would have been heavily vegetated at the time,” said O’Connor.
Thomas Williamson, curator of paleontology at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science in Albuquerque, told AP he guesses the find is a surprise.
“Scientifically it’s not that exciting,” said Williamson.
The fossil is now on display to the public at the museum.

Lady Gaga’s surprisingly controversial bar order inspires unexpected summer trend
Lady Gaga’s signature bar order is going viral this summer, prompting fans across the world to sip on the chic European drink that she swears by.
In a Vanity Fair YouTube video entitled “Lady Gaga Takes a Lie Detector Test,” the pop star revealed that she drinks red wine in a somewhat unusual way.
“How do you order red wine at the bar?” the interviewer asked.
‘FRIDGE CIGARETTE’ IS GEN Z’S NEW DIET COKE OBSESSION THAT CONCERNS HEALTH EXPERTS
The singer responded, “With maraschino cherries and Diet Coke.”
Her response passed the lie detector test. Though the interview was published in February, the drink order caused a stir on TikTok — and content creators have been trying it out as a summer refresher.
The drink is called a kalimotxo, or calimocho. It comes from the Basque Country of Spain.
In its most popular form, the cocktail consists of red wine mixed with cola, but some people are pairing it with lemon-lime soda or orange pop.
THIS BREAKFAST MISTAKE MAKES PEOPLE REACH FOR SUGARY SNACKS IN THE AFTERNOON
In a TikTok review, one creator said that “you can’t really tell” the differing flavors of the Coke and red wine when mixed together.
“I don’t know if I’d order it, but I’ll probably finish this glass.”
“The two together … kind of cancel each other out, both very subtle,” she said.
“I don’t know if I’d order it, but I’ll probably finish this glass,” the TikToker added.
Another content creator described the drink as a “boozy cherry Coke, but with rich tannins from the red wine.”
“Will I be having it again? Absolutely not,” the critic said.
“It’s not completely foul, [but] it is mayhem in a glass.”
SOME ALCOHOL CHOICES LIKE DRY RED WINE AND CLEAR LIQUOR ARE LESS HARMFUL THAN OTHERS, EXPERTS SAY
Reactions to the videos were varied, with some expressing interest in the drink while others remained cautious.
“Gaga definitely stole that idea from 16-year-old me when I was trying to fool my dad that I don’t drink,” one person joked.
“It tastes like sangria, very nice,” another viewer wrote.
“I’m not a red wine girlie so it’s a no for me,” a third user said.
The drink wasn’t new to everyone, though. Many Europeans confirmed that it’s been a staple in bars across the continent, especially in the late 2000s.
“I met her backstage at the art rave in London and she told me back then that was her favorite drink,” a Gaga fan wrote. “She ordered it when we were backstage.”
“It’s [a] normal drink in Eastern Europe,” another person wrote.

Fox News Digital spoke with celebrity brand strategist Laura Burkemper for her insights into the “Born This Way” singer’s drink of choice.
Burkemper, based in St. Louis, Missouri, said Gaga’s endorsement of the drink is “a bold brand expression.”
“Gaga’s embrace of this humble, equal-parts blend is on-brand for her: unexpected, boundary-pushing and rooted in reinvention,” she observed.
She also noted that the drink’s popularity is part of a trend for “nostalgic, low-effort drinks with global roots.”
“Its global footprint underscores the drink’s universal appeal as a casual, crowd-pleasing favorite,” the brand expert said.
“In a world where luxury is often defined by exclusivity, the kalimotxo redefines it as confidence in unconventional taste – something Lady Gaga has always owned.”

‘Shame’ Statue of Liberty mural in one country sparks global debate over immigration
A new mural is stirring up controversy worldwide.
“The Statue of Liberty’s Silent Protest” was painted on a brick wall of a building on Rue de Chemin-de-Fer in Roubaix, France, by Dutch artist Judith de Leeuw. (See the video at the top of this article.)
The painting was unveiled on July 3, just a day before America’s Independence Day.
AMERICANS TARGETED IN MEXICO CITY AS LOCALS PROTEST AGAINST TOURISM AND SOARING RENTS
“The values that the statue once stood for – freedom, hope, the right to be yourself – have been lost for many,” said de Leeuw, according to Euro News.
“Roubaix has a large migrant population, and many of them live in extremely difficult circumstances,” she said, referring to the city in northern France. “The values that the statue once stood for — freedom, hope, the right to be yourself — have been lost for many.”
The painting depicts the Statue of Liberty with nine spikes on her crown — the actual statue only has seven — and with her hands covering her face.
The mural was intentionally placed in a city known for its high migrant population, according to reports.
About 22.3% of the Roubaix population was made up of immigrants in 2021, according to the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies.
‘AMERICA FIRST’ NATIONAL PARKS PLAN FROM TRUMP SLAPS HIGHER FEES ON FOREIGN TOURISTS
De Leeuw shared she was nervous the message would be too controversial, but said that locals embraced the message given the harsh realities of immigration in France.
In 2022, 69% of violent robberies and other violent crimes, including sexual assaults, on public transport in the greater Paris region of Île-de-France were perpetrated by foreign nationals, according to the annual figures of the statistics bureau of the French Ministry of Interior.
French President Emmanuel Macron said at the time, “If we look at crime in Paris today, we cannot fail to see that at least half of the crime comes from people who are foreigners, either illegal immigrants or waiting for a residence permit.”
He also said, “In any case, they’re in a very delicate situation, often coming in through these [illegal immigration] channels.”
The mural comes in reaction to the doubling down by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on enforcing immigration laws in the U.S. and deporting illegal migrants.
MYSTERIOUS ‘TIRE TRAPS’ PLAGUE CITY STREETS AS LOCALS TAKE MATTERS INTO THEIR OWN HANDS
A video posted by the artist went viral, amassing thousands of reactions on social media platforms.
“This exquisite, heartwrenching art expresses how I’m feeling as a US citizen,” commented one woman.
Another person wrote, “Thank you for this. Signed, Heartbroken in the U.S.”
“Your open borders policies ruined Paris. Fix yourselves before you judge us,” commented one user.
Another person wrote, “Thank you for seeing us and sharing this sorrow and shame with the world.”
Said another individual: “France: Where they imprison their political opponents.”

Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., also weighed in on social media.
“This disgusts me. If any country ought to be kissing our [a–], it’s France. My uncle Roy fought and died and is buried there for their freedom,” the lawmaker posted on X.
Another X user commented, “I agree with the mural.”
“I think we’re going to have to liberate them once again,” an X user joked.
“Well, of course France would try to shame the USA for having border and immigration laws,” wrote one person. “They are part of the EU who likes to shame every country who doesn’t want mass immigration.”
Another individual commented, “To say this is phenomenal is an understatement & the meaning powerful! I salute you, my friend, my hero.”
Wrote another user, “This is occupied France. I mean FULLY occupied France.”
