A suspect went on a shooting rampage in Kentucky on Sunday, injuring a state trooper before moving to a church and shooting four people, leaving two dead.

Lexington Police Department Chief Lawrence Weathers said the spree started just before noon when a state trooper pulled the suspect over for a license plate reader alert. The suspect opened fire, injuring the trooper. It happened on Terminal Drive just outside Blue Grass Airport, but was unrelated to the airport.

“There were some people en route to the airport, and they got out and assisted the trooper,” Weathers said. “I appreciate them for getting out and doing what they did.”

The trooper was in stable condition and receiving medical treatment, police said.

ARMED GUNMAN SHOT DEAD AFTER OPENING FIRE AT SUNDAY CHURCH SERVICE

After shooting the trooper, the suspect took off and carjacked a vehicle, Weathers said. No one was hurt in the carjacking.

Police then utilized the department’s Air Support Unit and Real-Time Intelligence Center to track the suspect to Richmond Road Baptist Church in Lexington.

The gunman opened fire on church property, killing two women and wounding two men. The two women fatally shot were identified by authorities as Beverly Gumm, 72, and Christina Combs, 32. One man was said to be in critical condition, while the other was in stable condition.

Weathers said police believe the suspect may have had a connection to the church, but the investigation is still ongoing.

“The suspect was shot by responding law enforcement and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Weathers added. “Three Lexington police officers fired their service weapons in accordance with the Lexington Police Department’s policies.”

The officers will be placed on administrative assignment pending the outcome of the investigation.

On X, Senator Rand Paul wrote that he was “saddened to hear about the tragic shootings.”

“Kelley and I are praying for all the victims, the injured trooper, and their families,” Paul’s post read. “We are grateful for the brave first responders. Violence like this has no place.”

Governor Andy Beshear made a post about the shooting on X, asking everyone to pray for the victims.

AOC should be sued ‘into bankruptcy’ over latest attack on Trump: critics

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is being accused of defaming President Donald Trump by calling him a “rapist” on social media amid controversy over the Department of Justice’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case.

The far-left Democrat, who has traded barbs with Trump repeatedly across both of their political careers, weighed in on the current controversy surrounding disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead in his New York City jail cell in 2019 after facing federal charges related to child sex trafficking.

“Wow who would have thought that electing a rapist would have complicated the release of the Epstein Files?” Ocasio-Cortez posted to X on Friday. She appeared to be referencing the 2023 civil trial leveled against Trump by writer E. Jean Carroll. A jury found Trump liable of sexual assault, but not of rape, which critics of Ocasio-Cortez repeatedly cited in their condemnation of her use of the word “rapist.”

The comments came after the Trump Department of Justice said there is no list of Epstein clients. But Trump supporters and legal experts alike warned AOC to lawyer up after dropping the “R” bomb.

“The President should sue AOC into bankruptcy. I realize she’s trying to raise her profile but this is way way too far,” legal analyst Phil Holloway posted to X on Saturday in response to a message from Ocasio-Cortez.

‘I’M JUST A SILLY GIRL’: AOC FIRES BACK AFTER TRUMP CALLS HER ‘STUPID’

“Even under the ridiculously lenient standards of NY Times v. Sullivan, you’ve managed to incur defamation liability Wow,” Republican Utah Sen. Mike Lee posted to X in response.

“Why didn’t you guys release the Epstein files over the last 4 years? Maybe you were too busy covering for Joe Biden… or, could it have something to do with another former Democrat President?” Oklahoma Republican Sen. Markwayne Mullin posted in response to Ocasio-Cortez.

APPEALS COURT DEALS TRUMP BLOW IN CHALLENGE TO E JEAN CARROLL VERDICT

“Well we have grounds for a huge defamation suit here you idiot because Donald Trump has never been indicted for rape much less convicted,” host of YourVoice America Bill Mitchell posted to X.

“You realize your X account doesn’t carry the same protections to defame people that you enjoy during congressional proceedings?” another X account posted

Other critics of the lawmaker’s message said the use of the word “rapist” comes on the heels of ABC paying Trump $15 million, which will go toward funding his presidential library, over George Stephanopoulos’ claim in March of last year that Trump was found civilly liable of rape in the E. Jean Carroll case. Trump has repeatedly denied even knowing Carroll, claiming she made false allegations that he raped her in a department store dressing room in the 1990s in an effort to sell books decades later.

“Donald Trump has not been criminally convicted of being a rapist. This is defamatory. And I hope you are sued by Trump for this the same way George Stephanopoulos was sued and forced to pay Trump $15 million dollars. I hope you have millions ready for Trump, Porky. @AOC,” Trump ally Laura Loomer posted in response to Ocasio-Cortez

‘GONE TOO FAR’: GOP LAWMAKERS RALLY AROUND TRUMP AFTER MUSK RAISES EPSTEIN ALLEGATIONS

“This is gonna be fun. AOC is so dumb she just called Trump a rapist – after ABC was forced to fork over $16 million in a settlement with Trump after George Stephanopoulos called him a rapist,” Townhall contributor Rachel Alexander posted to X.

In March 2024, Stephanopoulos asserted in a tense interview with Republican Rep. Nancy Mace that Trump was found “liable for rape” in a civil case. Stephanopoulos showed a clip of Mace discussing being a victim of rape before he asked her, “How do you square your endorsement of Donald Trump with the testimony we just saw?”

“You’ve endorsed Donald Trump for president. Judges and two separate juries have found him liable for rape and for defaming the victim of that rape,” Stephanopoulos said, alluding to the legal victory by Trump accuser E. Jean Carroll.

AOC TAUNTS TOM HOMAN AFTER DOJ REFERRAL THREAT OVER DEPORTATIONS: ‘COME FOR ME’

Stephanopoulos repeated the claim on rape 10 times during the interview, Fox Digital previously reported, before Trump filed a defamation suit. ABC News and Stephanopoulos reached a settlement agreement with Trump’s legal team ahead of his second inauguration, paying $15 million and announcing the network and anchor “regret” the comments made on air.

“Editor’s Note: ABC News and George Stephanopoulos regret statements regarding President Donald J. Trump made during an interview by George Stephanopoulos with Rep. Nancy Mace on ABC’s This Week on March 10, 2024,” an editor’s note in an article focused on the interview states.

Other social media commenters defended Ocasio-Cortez‘s use of the word “rapist,” arguing she did not use Trump’s name in her post and that a defamation case was unlikely.

Fox News Digital reached out to Ocasio-Cortez’s office on Sunday for additional comment on the matter, but did not immediately receive a reply.

“AOC likes to play pretend like she’s from the block, but in reality she’s just a sad, miserable blockhead who is trying to over-compensate for her lack of self-confidence that has followed her for her entire life,” White House communication director Steven Cheung said in comment provided to Fox News Digital on Sunday.

Noem fires back at Democrats over ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ claims in fiery NBC clash

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem clashed with NBC “Meet the Press” host Kristen Welker in a testy exchange on Sunday over alleged “inhumane” conditions at the newly-opened Alligator Alcatraz migrant detention facility in the Florida everglades.

The detention facility, which currently holds 900 people but has the capacity to hold nearly 4,000, has been under scrutiny after Democratic lawmakers toured the facility on Saturday. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., described the facility as an “internment camp.” Democratic lawmakers who toured the facility claimed that detainees were subjected to inhumane treatment, unsanitary conditions and sweltering heat. Wasserman Schultz claimed that detainees were forced to drink water from the same sink they use for the bathroom, and were packed into “wall-to-wall cages.”

“Our detention centers at the federal level are held to a higher standard than most local or state centers and even federal prisons. The standards are extremely high, now this is a state-run facility at Alligator Alcatraz —” Noem told Welker in response to being questioned over whether the Florida facility was inhumane, before being interrupted by the host.

TRUMP SAYS ONLY WAY OUT OF ‘ALLIGATOR ALCATRAZ’ IS DEPORTATION

“More than 30 people stuffed into a jail cell?” Welker asked, cutting off Noem.

“I wish they would have said that back during the Biden administration and back when the Democrats were in the White House when they were piling people on top of each other on cement floors and they didn’t have two feet to move. They never did that, and that’s why this politics has to end,” Noem said.

“I wouldn’t call them jail cells, I would call them a facility where they are held and that are secure facilities, but are held to the highest levels of what the federal government requires for detention facilities –” Noem said before once again being cut off by Welker.

“Democrats have called them cages,” the “Meet the Press” host interrupted.

Noem vowed to allow cameras to document the conditions inside migrant detention centers to show how their conditions are superior to centers used in the Biden administration. She also encouraged illegal immigrants to self-deport to avoid the detention process entirely and give themselves an opportunity to return to the country legally.

Trump administration Border Czar Tom Homan also took Democrats to task Sunday for overlooking migrant detention conditions under Biden and failing to criticize them until Trump took office on CNN’s State of the Union.

“”You didn’t see them complaining about, under Biden administration, people being held in a border patrol parking lot surrounded by a fence and sweltering heat, they ignored four years of open borders, historic migrant deaths, historic Americans dying from fentanyl, historic numbers of women and children being sex trafficked.”

‘Nobody wanted responsibility’: Paul exposes Secret Service coverup in Trump shooting

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., said that we “aren’t going to know” the motive of President Donald Trump’s would-be assassin Thomas Crooks, after he released a scathing report slamming the Secret Service for multiple security failures at the fateful July 2024 Butler rally that nearly took Trump’s life.

“I think we aren’t going to know the motive, and I take that at face value. I know a lot of times when we don’t get something, and we suspect something. We think government’s lying to us, and look, I have my doubts about government on many levels, but I think at this level they’ve tried their best and I don’t think there’s a secret answer,” Paul told CBS “Face the Nation” Host Margaret Brennan Sunday.

The Kentucky senator had authored the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs report, which detailed multiple security failures leading up to the Butler assassination attempt. Shockingly, the report found that the Secret Service “denied or left unfulfilled at least 10 requests” for additional security for Trump, including counter snipers.

COULD BUTLER HAPPEN AGAIN? FORMER SECRET SERVICE AGENTS WEIGH IN ON POLITICAL VIOLENCE IN 2025

The report accuses former Secret Service head Kimberly Cheatle of falsely testifying to Congress in July 2024 that “no USSS asset requests were denied for the Butler rally.” Cheatle resigned that day, following widespread bipartisan criticism of her testimony. Sen. Paul accused Cheatle of dishonesty, saying, she “did not tell the truth.”

Paul blasted the Secret Service for a “cascade of errors” leading up to the Butler assassination attempt which saw Trump narrowly avoid being killed by lone gunman Thomas Crooks, 20, with a bullet just grazing his ear. Former fire chief Corey Comperatore, 50, died while shielding his family and two others gravely injured. Paul suggested that had the Secret Service been more competent in performing its duties, Comperatore might still be alive.

“Corey Comperatore could have possibly been saved by having better security that day. This boy [Crooks] was seen four hours before the shooting. He was seen again 45 minutes before, three minutes before the shooting the crowd is chanting ‘man on a roof, man on a roof’ 45 seconds to go as he’s assembling his gun. Forty-five seconds is a long time, nobody told them to take the president off the stage. Inexcusable, terrible security,” Paul said.

Paul said that whoever was in charge of security that day could have been fired, and lamented the possibility that those in charge that day might be leading security for presidential candidates in the future if proper disciplinary measures are not taken.

“When we talked to the people in charge of security, everybody pointed the finger at somebody else… nobody wanted responsibility,” Paul said.

Paul attributed the agency’s lack of honesty regarding the security failures at Butler to a “cultural coverup” within the Secret Service, and slammed them for only firing officials responsible after he began probing what went wrong.

“It was a cultural coverup for the agency. They did not want to assess blame, they did not want to look internally. They wanted to discount any of their actions that might have led to this. This was a cover your ass sort of moment… it was a huge failure.” Paul said. “Even the disciplinary action they finally took, they only took because I subpoenaed.”

EU officials respond to Trump’s proposed 30% tariffs on European imports

Wine and cheese producers in France warn that President Donald Trump’s proposed 30% tariffs on European imports will have a damaging impact on the country’s agricultural industry.

Trump announced last week that his administration will impose a 30% tariff on goods from members of the European Union (EU) beginning on Aug. 1, citing trade deficits and national security concerns.

In a letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Trump claimed the EU’s policies caused “large and unsustainable Trade Deficits against the United States,” adding that the imbalance also poses a major national security threat.

The president also warned that any retaliatory tariffs imposed by the EU would be matched and added to the 30% base rate.

TRUMP ANNOUNCES SIGNIFICANT 30% TARIFFS AGAINST MEXICO, EU TO BEGIN NEXT MONTH

Jean-Francois Loiseau, the president of the Association Nationale des Industries Alimentaires (ANIA) told Reuters that a 30% tariff would be “disastrous” for the food industry in France.

Also speaking to Reuters was Francois Xavier Huard, the CEO of dairy association FNIL, who said, “It’s a real shock for milk and cheese producers – this is an important market for us.”

“It’s a new environment we will have to get used to – I don’t think this is temporary,” he told Reuters on Sunday while speaking about trade tensions and shifting rules.

TRUMP ANNOUNCES SWEEPING 50% TARIFF ON BRAZILIAN IMPORTS STARTING AUG. 1

Huard said industry leaders may need to rethink strategies for markets they operate in.

The tariffs could affect the French dairy sector, which exports nearly half of the dairy it produces, including to the U.S., which imports butter and yogurt, but mainly cheeses like Brie.

If changes are not made, the French food exporters could lose tens of millions of euros each year, according to Huard.

He noted that the French sector sells about $409 million (or 350 million euros) in dairy products to the U.S. annually.

Food exporters in France worry about additional import taxes pushing the prices of their products out of reach for shoppers strapped for money in the U.S. due to inflation.

MACRON CHIDES TRUMP, CHINA OVER TRADE, UKRAINE, GAZA: POLICIES ‘WILL KILL GLOBAL ORDER’

“Products like wine, especially, are consumed for pleasure -if you have less money to spend, you might forgo the purchase,” National Center for the Promotion of Agricultural and Food Products (CNPA) president Yannick Fialip told Reuters.

“We will be less competitive,” Fialip added, noting a weaker dollar had already added pressure on exports to the U.S.

After learning about Trump’s 30% tariff, von der Leyen responded in a post on X, warning that the tariffs would negatively impact both economies but expressed willingness to continue negotiations.

“A 30% tariff on EU exports would hurt businesses, consumers and patients on both sides of the Atlantic,” von der Leyen said. “We will continue working towards an agreement by August 1. At the same time, we are ready to safeguard EU interests on the basis of proportionate countermeasures.”

In a separate statement on American-EU trade, von der Leyen said she will continue to deepen global partnerships “firmly anchored in the principles of rules-based international trade.”

The father of NFL players Amon-Ra St. Brown and Equanimeous St. Brown drew backlash on Sunday as a resurfaced clip about his take on developing athletes went viral.

John Brown, a former bodybuilder, appeared on his sons’ podcast last year and talked about his response when people ask him about how he was able to get his sons into the NFL and another one to play top-tier collegiate football.

“What’s the question they ask you the most about how you got three kids to go D1 and two in the NFL,” Amon-Ra St. Brown asked his father on the “St. Brown Podcast.”

Brown responded that he believed in “breeding.”

“Look at you – good athlete, good athlete,” he said of his sons. “I’m Black, his mom is White. Now, I’ve done stepped on it once, you can’t keep stepping on it because you’re gonna mess it up. You’re going to weaken it. … Can’t keep cutting it.

“You and Brooklyn’s (Amon-Ra’s fiancée) half and half, you have a chance. … You can’t keep cutting it. You got to be careful. You can’t keep cutting it. You got to think about that. You know what I mean? If I’m Black, I got the Black gold running through my veins, I’m excited. I’m just going to find the right person to mate with. Chelsea’s 3-0 FIFA Club World Cup victory over Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday, with President Donald Trump in attendance, was marred by a postgame brawl.

Paris Saint-Germain’s coach Luis Enrique and goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma pushed Chelsea forward Joāo Pedro to the ground moments before Trump came down from his box to help FIFA President Gianni Infantino hand out awards and medals to competitors.

Pedro scored one goal and Cole Palmer scored two to lift Chelsea to the win. But the match, which took place at MetLife Stadium, in East Rutherford, N.J., turned testy when Paris Saint-Germain’s Joāo Neves received a red card for pulling Marc Cucurella down by his hair. Six yellow cards were handed out in the match.

Enrique was near midfield and appeared to push Pedro in the throat. Donnarumma then came over and shoved Pedro. It’s unclear what started the incident.

Players and coaches broke up the fracas before the trophy ceremony began.
