Maurene Comey, daughter of former FBI head James Comey, fired from DOJ
Maurene Comey, the daughter of former FBI director James Comey, was fired Wednesday from her job as a prosecutor in the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office, a Justice Department official confirmed to Fox News.
Comey was informed of her termination on Wednesday by the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys, the official said.
She worked most recently on the prosecution of Sean “Diddy” Combs and previously prosecuted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell.
The reason for her firing as senior trial counsel at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York was not immediately clear.
FORMER FBI DIRECTOR COMEY’S DAUGHTER SUFFERS HIGH-PROFILE LOSS AS PROSECUTOR IN DIDDY TRIAL
The U.S. Attorney’s Office did not immediately respond to a call from Fox News Digital.
Comey’s father was fired during President Donald Trump’s first term in office after he initiated the investigation into potential ties between Russia and President Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. The Justice Department recently appeared to acknowledge an investigation into James Comey, although it is unclear what sparked that probe.
JAMES COMEY’S DAUGHTER IS KEY TO DIDDY PROSECUTION AFTER TAKING DOWN EPSTEIN ACCOMPLICE
The Trump administration has moved to terminate Justice Department lawyers who have worked on cases that have led to Trump’s frustration. Maurene Comey was long viewed as a potential target because of her father’s rocky relationship with the president.
The termination of Maurene Comey represents the latest shake-up for the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office.
In April, prosecutor Matthew Podolsk stepped down, which cleared the path for Trump to tap Jay Clayton, his nominee for interim U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Podolsky had taken over after the departure of Danielle Sassoon, who resigned in February in protest of the Justice Department’s decision to drop corruption charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams.
Trump named Sassoon interim U.S. attorney when the president fired Edward Kim, who took the position during the change in administrations.
CEO says he was offered $20 million to organize anti-Trump protests
The CEO of an advocacy group said his organization turned down an offer that he said would have been worth around $20 million to help recruit for a national rally against President Donald Trump.
“Interests aligned with the organizers of the July 17th movement have approached us and, in fact, we rejected an offer that probably is worth around $20 million dollars,” Adam Swart, the CEO and founder of Crowds on Demand, told NewsNation’s Brian Entin in an interview that aired on Tuesday.
On Thursday, protests around the country are being planned against Trump, spearheaded by Good Trouble Lives On, a group that calls itself a peaceful and nonviolent protest and social change organization. They are planning to oppose Trump and what they call on their website “the most brazen rollback of civil rights in generations.”
The protests planned for Thursday also take place on the fifth anniversary of the death of former Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., a civil rights leader who routinely referred to protests as “good trouble.”
ASRA NOMANI: THE $2.1 BILLION MACHINE BEHIND ‘SPONTANEOUS’ ANTI-TRUMP PROTESTS
Swart said Crowds on Demand — a company based in California that specializes in providing on-demand crowds for protests — rejected the offer because they didn’t think protests like the ones Good Trouble Lives On is hosting on Thursday would be effective.
“I mean this is a nationwide thing, right? It’s not to say I would have made 20 million dollars personally, but the value of the contract would have been worth around that amount nationwide to organize huge demonstrations around the country,” Swart said.
“But personally, I just don’t think it’s effective,” he added. “So it’s not, I’m not trying to call myself virtuous for rejecting it. What I’m saying is, I’m saying I’m rejecting it, not because I don’t want to take the business, but because, frankly, this is going to be ineffective. It’s going to make us all look bad.”
ANTI-ICE RIOT FUNDING INVESTIGATED AFTER ‘NUMEROUS HIGH BUDGET REQUESTS’ FOR PAID AGITATORS WERE REPORTED
“President Trump’s America is so successful that blue-haired basement dwellers are paid to stage fake protests against the administration’s remarkable achievements,” Harrison Fields, special assistant to the President and principal deputy press secretary, said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “Paid agitators should find real jobs instead of selling out for gift cards and meager paychecks that aim to divide the nation and obstruct America’s greatest comeback. Nothing screams a party in disarray more than one that clearly lacks organic support and is forced to astroturf everything.”
Left-wing riots in Los Angeles resulting in violence, including the burning of the American flag and the assault of law enforcement officers, as well as the “No Kings Day” protests across the country, have recently made headlines.

Joe Rogan reveals what changed his mind about interviewing Donald Trump
Podcaster Joe Rogan spoke candidly about how a series of political revelations persuaded him to interview then-candidate Donald Trump in the 11th hour of the 2024 election.
The 2024 presidential election was dubbed by some to be the “podcast election,” as many suggested that Trump’s appearances on numerous podcasts popular with young men swayed the outcome. The biggest example of all was Trump’s interview on the “Joe Rogan Experience” in late October, which currently has 59 million views.
In a newly released interview conducted earlier this year, “Ultimate Human” podcast host Gary Brecka noted how Rogan was initially hesitant to interview Trump on his show, and asked him what eventually changed his mind.
“Well, there was a bunch of things that happened,” Rogan said. “First of all, there was the lawfare. There was these lawsuits that they were trying to pin on him. They were trying to convict him and turn him into a felon, and they were doing it so blatantly and obviously. The case with the bookkeeping error or the bookkeeping, whatever it was. The misdemeanor that they had charged him with 34 felonies for, which isn’t even a felony. It’s a misdemeanor, and it’s also past the statute of limitations. None of it made any sense. And people were cheering it on. ‘He’s a convicted felon.’”
DEMOCRATS SEEKING TO BUY THE ‘NEXT JOE ROGAN’ OF THE LEFT AFTER 2024 ELECTION DEFEAT
“Hey, they can do that to you. Do you understand that?,” Rogan warned. “If they can do that to a former president, a former f—ing president who’s rich as s—, they can do that to him, they can do that to you, too. You can’t cheer this on. This is insane.”
The assassination attempt against Trump in Pennsylvania was another major factor that persuaded Rogan. He argued the incident could have been a “Lee Harvey Oswald 2.0.”
Another big influence, Rogan said, was the media bias against Trump. Because of the bias, he felt he needed to step up to provide a fair interview.
“There’s no real conversations with him where you’re just treating him like a human being. Like everything, he’s being grilled and then everything’s taken out of context and I’m seeing him being taken out of context on the campaign trail and like it was just gross. It was just so anti-American,” he said.
He added, “If you’re an American and you believe in our justice system and if you believe in our system of electing representatives, it should be [that] the best people should have this opportunity to express what their plan is, ‘This is what I want to do. This is where I stand on the issues. This is how I think I could pull it off.’ And then the American people are supposed to look at this person saying it and decide.”

After he did the interview in late October, Rogan went on to officially endorse Trump on the eve of the election.

Trump pulls the plug on California’s costly ‘train to nowhere’ project
California’s embattled high-speed rail project suffered a major setback after Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced the termination of $4 billion in unspent federal funding by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).
Citing 16 years of failure, no completed high-speed track, and escalating costs, Duffy declared the project, dubbed the “train to nowhere,” a mismanaged and over-budget “boondoggle.”
“This is California’s fault. Governor Newsom and the complicit Democrats have enabled this waste for years. Federal dollars are not a blank check – they come with a promise to deliver results,” Duffy said in a statement.
The announcement followed months of scrutiny after a comprehensive compliance review, plus failed attempts by the California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) to address serious project deficiencies.
TRUMP V. CALIFORNIA: SANCTUARY CITIES TO EV BANS, TRUMP PUTS LEFT-WING STATE UNDER REPEATED SCRUTINY
“After over a decade of failures, CHSRA’s mismanagement and incompetence has proven it cannot build its train to nowhere on time or on budget. It’s time for this boondoggle to die. President Trump and I will always fight to ensure your tax dollars only go to projects that accomplish great, big, beautiful things.”
The review found that zero miles of high-speed track have been laid since ground was broken 10 years ago, and the cost continues to balloon.
President Donald Trump, echoing Duffy’s sentiment, also referred to the project as a “boondoggle.”
“To the Law abiding, Tax paying, Hardworking Citizens of the United States of America, I am thrilled to announce that I have officially freed you from funding California’s disastrously overpriced, “HIGH SPEED TRAIN TO NOWHERE,” Trump wrote in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.
DUFFY MOVES TO DEFUND CALIFORNIA HIGH-SPEED RAIL AFTER BLISTERING FEDERAL REVIEW
“This boondoggle, led by the incompetent Governor of California, Gavin Newscum, has cost Taxpayers Hundreds of Billions of Dollars, and we have received NOTHING in return except Cost Overruns. The Railroad we were promised still does not exist, and never will,” Trump continued.
“This project was Severely Overpriced, Overregulated, and NEVER DELIVERED. Thanks to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, not a SINGLE penny in Federal Dollars will go towards this Newscum SCAM ever again. This was an ill-conceived and unnecessary project, and a total waste of Taxpayer money — But no more!”
Rep. Kevin Kiley, R-Calif., author of H.R. 213, legislation to prohibit further federal funding for High-Speed Rail, applauded the move.
“California High-Speed Rail is the worst public infrastructure disaster in U.S. history,” Kiley said.
“A project that was supposed to be finished five years ago at a cost of $33 billion is now projected to take until the end of the century at a cost of $130 billion. I am grateful that President Trump and Secretary Duffy are sparing our taxpayers by cutting off federal funding. The state must now follow suit, wind this disastrous project down, and spend our transportation dollars where they are needed: our roads.”
California Governor Gavin Newsom took a jab at Duffy on X, saying he’d take advice from others over the transportation secretary.
“Won’t be taking advice from the guy who can’t keep planes in the sky,” Newsom wrote.
Newsom’s office also released a statement in response to the “Trump administration illegally terminating federal grant agreements funding California high-speed rail.”
“Trump wants to hand China the future and abandon the Central Valley. We won’t let him. With projects like the Texas high-speed rail failing to take off, we are miles ahead of others,” Newsom wrote.
“We’re now in the track-laying phase and building America’s only high-speed rail. California is putting all options on the table to fight this illegal action,” he continued.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) added that it may also pursue recovery of previously disbursed funds and potential legal action.
DUFFY CLASHES WITH DEMOCRATS OVER DEI FUNDING CUTS, DENIES AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS LET GO
In addition to canceling $4 billion in unspent federal funds to CHSRA, Duffy directed FRA to review other obligated and unobligated grants related to the CHSRA project.
The 300-page damning report, released back in June, examined the project and found delays, missed deadlines, mismanagement, waste, skyrocketing costs, budget shortfalls and overrepresentation of projected ridership.
Other key findings revealed that the project faced ongoing — and likely increasing — contractor cost overruns due to delays and that the CHSRA failed to finalize contracts for its high-speed trainsets on time.

The project was initially touted as a two-phase visionary system connecting Los Angeles to San Francisco, and later north to Sacramento, and south to San Diego.
The report states that despite the money already plowed into the project, there is a $7 billion funding gap to complete a subset of the first phase in the Central Valley from Merced to Bakersfield, known as the Early Operating Segment (EOS).
Since the project’s inception, it has been dramatically reduced from an 800-mile segment to a 171-mile segment.
Virginia congressman slammed for TikTok performance while voters demand action
Rep. Suhas Subramanyam, D-Va., got in on TikTok’s “aura farming” trend, posting a clip of himself dancing solo in the congressional subway, captioned “omw to hold this administration accountable.”
In the short clip, Subramanyam appears on the House subway wearing sunglasses, striking poses and waving his arms before locking in on the camera.
Subramanyam’s “aura farming” appears to have backfired, with some commenters calling it out as tone-deaf, hypocritical and “cringe.”
Left-leaning viewers frustrated with perceived inaction from Democrats under President Donald Trump took aim at the VA-10 congressman in the comment section. One of the top-liked comments asked flatly, “By doing nothing…?” Another read, “Representatives have got to stop doing this. Actually do something.”
THE REVOLUTION WILL BE LIVESTREAMED: HOW ZOHRAN MAMDANI WON THE NYC PRIMARY ONLINE
Many commenters linked the post to Subramanyam’s past voting record, including his controversial decision against his party just weeks ago not to move forward with a House impeachment resolution against Trump.
On June 24, 2025, Subramanyam voted to table (i.e., block) a resolution to impeach President Trump over “high crimes and misdemeanors.” The resolution was introduced by Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, but was halted by a wide House majority.
Several comments mocked the tone and delivery of the video. One read, “-1000 aura,” while another said, “Our taxpayer money hard at work…” Another commenter wrote, “So what exactly are you on your way to do? Because so far democrats have not really done anything at all.”
A top comment simply read, “This feels weird idk.”
FAR-LEFT LAWMAKER BREAKS SILENCE AFTER UNEARTHED SOCIAL MEDIA POST IGNITES FIRESTORM
One lengthy reply said, “Not trying to be disrespectful. But? Less of this sh–. More fire on the floor please. I get wanting to do outreach. But this? Isn’t the action an average American needs from their representatives right now. We’re approaching no taxation without representation territory here. Do better.”
Another suggested, “Introduce a new amendment for every one performative TikTok a Congress person posts they have to cosign 3 bills that work to limit the power of money in politics.”
Subramanyam, a former tech advisor in the Obama White House and the first South Asian elected to Virginia’s General Assembly, has gained a reputation as a more moderate Democrat. He won Virginia’s 10th District in 2024 and often plays up his immigrant roots in political messaging.
The “aura farming” trend, popular among Gen Z and Gen Alpha, refers to pulling off effortless, cool gestures usually while standing still. It took off after a now-viral video of 11-year-old Indonesian boy Rayyan Arkan Dikha danced stone-faced and confident while wearing sunglasses aboard a racing boat.
Most “aura farming” clips on TikTok are soundtracked to “Young Black & Rich” by Melly Mike, which includes the lyric “I ain’t even gon’ get mad, I’m young, black and rich.”

Tehran warned to take new nuclear deadline ‘seriously’ after military strikes
Iran has until the end of August to agree to a nuclear deal with the United States and its allies, Fox News has learned.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the foreign ministers of France, Germany and the United Kingdom set the de facto deadline, according to three sources with knowledge of a call Wednesday among the officials.
If Tehran fails to agree to a deal, it would trigger the “snapback” mechanism that automatically reimposes all sanctions previously imposed by the United Nations Security Council.
IRAN’S LEADER THREATENS ‘EVEN BIGGER BLOW’ AGAINST US; TRUMP SAYS HE’S IN ‘NO RUSH’ TO TALK
The sanctions were lifted under the 2015 Iran deal.
The Trump administration has tried pressuring Iran to accept a deal to walk back its nuclear program after U.S. and Israeli strikes targeting nuclear sites.
United Against Nuclear Iran, a nonprofit that opposes Tehran’s effort to develop a nuclear weapon, applauded Wednesday’s news.
IRAN VOWS RETALIATION IF UN SECURITY COUNCIL ISSUES SNAPBACK SANCTIONS ON ANNIVERSARY OF NUCLEAR DEAL
“Tehran has learned that, for the Trump administration, a deadline means a deadline,” UANI Chairman and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace said in a joint statement.
“After failing to agree to a deal within 60 days of diplomacy, the United States and Israel undertook targeted military action against the regime in June. Consequently, Tehran should take this new deadline seriously.”
On Monday, Iran warned it would retaliate if the U.N. Security Council imposes the snapback sanctions.
“The threat to use the snapback mechanism lacks legal and political basis and will be met with an appropriate and proportionate response from the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei claimed during a press conference, according to a Reuters report.

Baghaei didn’t specify how Tehran would retaliate.
Sunny Hostin changes tone on Epstein files amid GOP backlash to DOJ announcement
“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin has appeared to change her tone on releasing files related to deceased sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein amid outrage over the Trump administration’s declaration that there is no client list.
Hostin and her fellow co-hosts discussed the furor from the right on Monday, calling for the release of the supposed list and more information in general about Epstein’s case. That put Hostin on the side of some of the most right-wing elements of President Donald Trump’s base, who are angry that he’s sided with Attorney General Pam Bondi and derided his own supporters for being too invested in the dead man’s case.
Referring to Trump downplaying the controversy, she said, “So now he’s calling his supporters selfish, he’s trying to make this go away, yet in 2002, he told New York Magazine, ‘I have known Jeff for 15 years. He is a terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do and many of them are on the younger side.'”
“So he said that and then also what Pam Bondi didn’t release because it’s already been released. Trump’s name is on the passenger logs of Epstein’s aircraft at least seven times. That’s already been made public. I mean, of course, Trump is denying any and all allegations, but all of that information is out there. Why not just put it to rest and say, release the list?”
BONDI UNDER SIEGE AFTER DOJ REVEALS NO EPSTEIN CLIENT LIST
Trump’s supporters have called out the administration after the Department of Justice determined that Epstein committed suicide in 2019 and that there is no list detailing who allegedly took part in Epstein’s history of sexual deviancy. Bondi, as well as FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino, had all called for Epstein’s sex-trafficking secrets to be made public long before the DOJ’s stunning about-face.
Hostin called for more information to be released, demanding Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell testify on whether the list exists or not. Maxwell is serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking and helping procure Epstein’s young victims.
Hostin’s attitude appeared to mark a significant shift in her thinking from just one year ago.
While discussing the unsealing of a set of Epstein files in January 2024, Hostin advised against repeating any names released in the files.
“I was very concerned about some of the coverage that I’ve seen. People were dying for this information,” Hostin said on “The View” at the time, in a clip first flagged on X by the account Maze.
“There was some sort of list that everybody thought would come out, and who’s on the list? Only some of the documents have been released, about 900 of them. They’ve been unsealed. The documents have identified numerous Epstein associates and figures mentioned in proceedings of the 2015 defamation lawsuit brought by Virginia Giuffre against Ghislaine Maxwell,” she continued.
DOJ BRASS VOWED FULL TRANSPARENCY ON EPSTEIN BEFORE TURNING UP EMPTY-HANDED
“What’s important for us to note is we shouldn’t be repeating names that are on the list, because just because your name has – not on the list but in the documents – just because your name is on the documents doesn’t mean that you have done anything criminally irresponsible or illegal or civilly irresponsible,” Hostin cautioned.
She went on to say that it was “extremely important” to note because “conspiracy theorists seem to not understand or enjoy facts.”
House Democrats have now called for a public hearing on the issue amid Republican back-and-forth over the DOJ’s announcement.
“I do think that this is not going away because of the severity of what could be in these files and because of the severity of the crimes,” Hostin said Tuesday. “Democrats are embracing the politics of the situation for a change. They’re actually taking it head-on.”

Country star Darius Rucker abruptly ends show mid-set, apologizes to fans
Darius Rucker abruptly ended his concert in New Jersey after losing his voice mid-performance.
On Saturday, the 59-year-old country music star suddenly paused after performing a few songs at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City and told the crowd that he couldn’t continue with the show.
“Y’all, I can’t sing anymore,” the Hootie & the Blowfish frontman said in a video by a fan on Philly Burbs.
DARIUS RUCKER ‘DEVASTATED’ BY DEATH OF LONGTIME PRODUCTION MANAGER: ‘HE WAS OUR BROTHER’
He continued, “I’m going to play one more song. I promise you, we are going to figure this out. You’re going to get your money back.”
“I just can’t sing. I’ve never done this before,” Rucker added. “This never happened. I physically can’t sing, and I promise you on everything that I stand for I will make this up to you.”
Rucker went on to play his hit 2013 “Wagon Wheel” as the crowd sang along. The musician then apologized to the audience before exiting the stage.
“I promise you I will make this up to you,” he said. “I promise you, we will figure this out and I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry.”
On Sunday, Rucker shared an update in a post on his Instagram Story. The singer once again apologized for ending the concert early and informed attendees that they would receive full refunds.
“Thank you so much for coming out Saturday night,” Rucker wrote, per Philly Burbs. “I feel awful and I’m so sorry — I have never lost my voice in all my years of performing.”
“We looked at every option to reschedule, but unfortunately, it’s just not possible this year, so we’re issuing full refunds,” the three-time Grammy Award winner added.
“Thank you so much for all your kind messages wishing me well. Love y’all and see you soon!”
Last Saturday’s show was the third stop on Rucker’s ongoing 45-date international tour. The tour kicked off on July 10 at the Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons, Maryland.

A representative for Rucker told Fox News Digital that “there is no further interruption in his touring schedule. “
“Following vocal rest, Darius has been cleared to resume shows,” Rucker’s spokesperson added.
Rucker is next scheduled to perform on Saturday, July 19, at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino and Resort in Hollywood, Florida.
The United States leg of Rucker’s tour will continue through September before the rocker heads across the pond for several shows in the United Kingdom. In October, Rucker will perform at two concerts in his home state of South Carolina before continuing his tour with shows in Canada. The tour will conclude on Dec. 13 at the Ritz-Carlton Resort in Naples, Florida.
In October 2023, Rucker released his seventh solo studio album, “Carolyn’s Boy.” Hootie & the Blowfish’s sixth studio album “Imperfect Circle” debuted in November 2019.

In June, Rucker confirmed that he was working on new music and had been inspired by his move to London earlier this year.
“I’m working on my album, I’m sure my single’s going to be coming out here soon, you know, and I’m ready for people hear that,” Rucker told People magazine. “I’m looking forward to finishing my record and getting that out. I think it’s refreshing, it’s new. I think my fans are gonna be really, really excited.”
“I went to London to get just a different flavor.” he added. “And I think I did that. I think people are going to like what we did.”
After Rucker’s Hollywood Walk of Fame induction ceremony in 2023, the acclaimed musician exclusively told Fox News Digital that he didn’t feel as though he had reached the pinnacle of his career just yet.
“I think the thing that keeps me working so hard is I always feel like I haven’t done enough,” the singer said.
While he’s been singing and recording music for most of his life, there was one key moment when he knew he had hit a level of success.
Rucker realized he had truly made it as an artist when he was asked to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry.

“That was really when I was like, ‘This is really working. This is happening. People get it.’ And that was pretty cool,” Rucker recalled.
Comedian makes crass Caitlin Clark prediction at ESPYs as WNBA star is on mend
Comedian Shane Gillis was tapped to host the ESPYs on Wednesday night, and he had a crass zinger for Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark during one of his opening monologues.
Gillis, who is also an actor on the Netflix series “Tires,” had a little something for everyone while he was on stage in Los Angeles. Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders were also among the targets.

But Gillis mapped out Clark’s future after she’s finished with the WNBA.
“When Caitlin Clark retires from the WNBA, she’s going to work at a Waffle House so she can continue doing what she loves most — fist-fighting Black women,” he said to polite laughter from the crowd.
Clark was not at the ESPYs on Wednesday as she continues to be evaluated following an apparent injury during the team’s win over the Connecticut Sun. She came off the floor on Tuesday night clutching her upper leg and was seen on the bench in tears.
CAITLIN CLARK’S BROTHER BLAMES REFS FOR LATEST INJURY TO FEVER STAR
The Fever star was set to be a captain in the All-Star game and take part in the 3-point shooting contest. But all of that seemed up in the air.
“No discussion yet about this weekend,” Fever head coach Stephanie White said on Wednesday night. “There was imaging done, and, obviously, we’re ruling her out for tonight, but there hasn’t been any discussion beyond tonight.”
Clark sustained a groin injury late in the fourth quarter of Indiana’s win over the Sun in Boston Tuesday night. White said she did not believe it was a “reinjury.” Clark missed time in May due to a quad injury and was recently sidelined for five games with a left groin strain.

“I’m not really sure that it’s a reinjury as much as a different kind of injury. I know oftentimes when you’re working with injuries in the groin and the quad and the hamstring and all of those things, there’s just — they’re all kind of tied together, and it’s not always just one thing.”
