Biden’s son unleashes profanity-filled rant against Dems he claims betrayed his father
Hunter Biden covered a lot of ground during his hourslong, profanity-laden meltdown on the “Channel 5” podcast this weekend, but some moments stood out among all the rest.
Biden spoke with host Andrew Callaghan for roughly three hours, and the former president’s son took care to hash out all of his political grievances, taking aim at everyone from President Donald Trump to actor George Clooney. Here are five of the most unusual moments from Biden’s extended tirade.
1. George Clooney sabotaged Joe Biden’s campaign
Biden had some particularly vulgar words for Clooney, who he claims sabotaged former President Joe Biden’s re-election effort with the “blessing” of former President Barack Obama and his cohorts.
“F— him! F— him and f— everybody around him. I don’t have to be f—ing nice. Number one, I agree with Quentin Tarantino. George Clooney is not a f—ing actor. He is a f—ing, I don’t know what he is, he’s a brand,” Biden said.
He and Callaghan were discussing Clooney’s infamous New York Times guest essay that became a key moment in the pressure campaign for Joe Biden to drop out of the race. The “Ocean’s 11” actor penned the essay, which called for Biden to be replaced as the Democratic nominee, less than two weeks after the former president had a disastrous debate performance against Trump.
DNC VICE CHAIR COMPARES TRUMP TO NOTORIOUS SEGREGATIONISTS DURING HEATED TOWN HALL EVENT WITH BETO O’ROURKE
“It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe ‘big f—ing deal’ Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate,” Clooney wrote.
Hunter unloaded on the actor, asking, “Why do I have to f—ing listen to you?” and accusing him of having lied about his father experiencing memory lapses at a June 2024 fundraiser.
“What do you have to do with f—ing anything?… What right do you have to step on a man who’s given 52 years of his f—ing life to the service of this country and decide that you, George Clooney, are going to take out basically a full-page ad in the f—ing New York Times to undermine the president?” Hunter fumed.
2. Biden says ‘F– you’ to Americans concerned about immigration
Biden compared Trump and his supporters to Confederates and the Ku Klux Klan when the conversation turned toward immigration.
Trump, he said, is a “f—ing thug” who is deporting illegal immigrants to a “concentration camp” in El Salvador.
Biden said America gets stuck in a “permanent Jim Crow loop” that when the “more perfect union” is nearly realized, a “symbiosis between money and power” ruins it.
SETH MEYERS SKIPS ASKING GEORGE CLOONEY ABOUT BIDEN’S MENTAL DECLINE, NOT RECOGNIZING HIM AT FUNDRAISER
“There is a minority group that those in power, that came into power through democratically elected means, are going to target this minority group because they’re stealing all the jobs,” he said, as clips played of Trump from 2016 speaking about “Mexico not sending their best” and claims of migrants “eating the dogs” in Ohio.
“And what we’re going to do is we’re going to send masked men to this marginalized group, and we are going to take them, put them on planes, put them on buses, put them on trains and send them to a prison camp in a foreign country,” Biden fumed.
“What am I describing right then? Am I describing Germany? Or am I just describing the United States right now? Because I will tell you what. You think that the prison in El Salvador is not a f—ing concentration camp, you’re out of your f—ing mind.”
Biden then claimed White men are “4-5 times more likely” to commit a violent crime than illegal immigrants.
3. Biden says his father was on Ambien before disastrous debate with Trump
Biden became animated when the conversation turned to his father’s disastrous debate performance against Trump in 2024, a debate that ultimately proved fatal to his campaign.
He revealed that his father was taking Ambien to sleep while on the campaign trail.
HUNTER BIDEN RAGES AGAINST F—ING THUG TRUMP, INVOKES KKK IN IMMIGRATION RANT
“I know exactly what happened in that debate. He flew around the world, basically, the mileage that he could have flown around the world, three times. He’s 81 years old. He’s tired as s—. They give him Ambien to be able to sleep,” he said.
“He gets up on the stage. And he looks like he’s a deer in the headlights. And it feeds into every f—ing story that anybody wants to tell,” Hunter went on, claiming that CNN anchor Jake Tapper’s book relied on several anonymous sources for his related expose because, in reality, no one had spoken out against Joe.
“If this was a conspiracy… somehow the entirety of a White House in which you’re literally living on top of each other has kept their mouth shut about you now, like what? And what’s the conspiracy? Did Joe Biden get old? Yeah, he got old. He got old before our eyes. The people that came out against him were who — nobody — except Speaker Emerita Pelosi did not give a full-throated endorsement, which allowed everybody else to kind of go, ‘OK.’
JOHN KERRY ADMITS TRUMP WAS ‘RIGHT’ ON BORDER, SAYS HE TOLD BIDEN THAT DEMOCRATS MISSED ON IMMIGRATION
“Who came out full-throated? Progressives. AOC, Bernie, the entire progressive wing, [Silicon Valley congressman] Ro Khanna. The entirety of the progressive side of the Democratic Party said Joe Biden has got more of our agenda accomplished in four years than any president in history. The largest investment into climate change in history, just that alone. And so he gets over the hump. He goes and does Stephanopoulos, and everybody said that’s not enough.”
4. Biden unleashes on Democratic strategists, Obama allies
Biden eventually turned his ire toward Democratic strategists who he says sabotaged his father’s campaign, including David Axelrod, James Carville and the former Obama staffers behind “Pod Save America.”
“James Carville—who hasn’t run a race in 40 f–ing years—and David Axelrod, who had one success in his political life, and that was Barack Obama. And that was because of Barack Obama—not because of f—ing David Axelrod. And David Plouffe, and all of these guys, and the Pod Save America guys, who were junior f—ing speechwriters on Barack Obama’s Senate staff, who have been dining out on the relationship with him for years, making millions of dollars,” Biden said.
“[They’re] White millionaires that are dining out on their association with Barack Obama from 16 years ago living in Beverly f—ing Hills telling the rest of the world what Black voters in South Carolina really want or what the waitress living outside of Green Bay, Wisconsin [wants],” he continued.
“I hear Rahm Emanuel’s going to run for president,” he added incredulously. “I think David Axelrod is going to run his campaign for him … there’s a f—ing answer; geniuses all.”
5. Biden rips top Democrats for ‘undermining’ Kamala Harris campaign
Biden praised former Vice President Kamala Harris during one of the few positive moments in the interview, but he then turned it around to criticize former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Obama and other Democrats for failing to support her fully.
“She did everything that she could to support my dad,” Biden said of Harris. “I truly love her like family, and I think that she would have made an incredible president.”
OBAMA SEEMS TO SWIPE AT TRUMP IMMIGRATION CRACKDOWN, SAYING MIGRANTS ‘TREATED AS ENEMIES’
“You know who did not want Kamala Harris to be president, and did not want her to be the nominee? Nancy Pelosi didn’t want her to be. None of Nancy Pelosi’s people wanted her to be. They wanted an open convention. They wanted a floor fight. I don’t know what the hell they wanted, but they wanted to anoint whoever they were going to anoint to become the next president of the United States,” he continued.
“Joe Biden, I think, did the most selfless thing that I know of any politician in the history of this f—ing country did. He stepped aside to save the party and in that void filled the only person that he would ever, ever, ever endorse out of the gate, because he chose her as his vice president,” Biden added.

“I don’t know what happened in that election. I don’t think that it was her fault necessarily. I don’t think that it was anybody’s fault except this,” he said. “One of the reasons that people would stick with my dad is because of the loyalty that they had to him. And you had to be unified. You have to make it feel like you’re part of something. What they proved, what the Democratic Party proved is they have no guts.”
Trump admin makes unprecedented move in Jeffrey Epstein investigation
The Department of Justice signaled a shift in its approach to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche revealing that he has reached out to Ghislaine Maxwell to gauge her willingness to cooperate with prosecutors.
Blanche confirmed Tuesday that, under the direction of Attorney General Pam Bondi, the DOJ is now open to hearing what Maxwell might have to offer regarding uncharged individuals who may have participated in Epstein’s criminal enterprise.
“This Department of Justice does not shy away from uncomfortable truths, nor from the responsibility to pursue justice wherever the facts may lead,” Blanche said in a post on X Tuesday.
The House Oversight Committee also took action in the case Tuesday by voting to subpoena Maxwell, requiring her to appear for a deposition.
DEMOCRATS CAPITALIZE ON GOP JEFFREY EPSTEIN FALLOUT WITH NEW DEMANDS FOR JIM JORDAN
A House Oversight Committee source told Fox News the Committee will move quickly to subpoena Maxwell. Since she is in federal prison, the Committee will coordinate with the DOJ and Bureau of Prisons to schedule her deposition, they said.
In his statement Tuesday, Blanche reaffirmed the July 6 joint statement issued by the DOJ and FBI, which concluded that a thorough review of FBI files related to the Epstein case uncovered no new evidence to support charges against additional parties.
“Namely, that in the recent thorough review of the files maintained by the FBI in the Epstein case, no evidence was uncovered that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties,” Blanche wrote.
DOJ BRASS VOWED FULL TRANSPARENCY ON EPSTEIN BEFORE TURNING UP EMPTY-HANDED
That memo, which was signed by FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino, sparked controversy after President Donald Trump, Bondi and FBI leaders repeatedly said they would release all documents related to Epstein.
Sources told Fox News that Bongino, who signed off on the memo, complained about it in private following public backlash.
The new outreach to Maxwell is in the hopes that Epstein’s convicted accomplice “has information about anyone who has committed crime against victims,” Blanche said.
“President Trump has told us to release all credible evidence…” he wrote. “Therefore, at the direction of Attorney General Bondi, I have communicated with counsel for Ms. Maxwell to determine whether she would be willing to speak with prosecutors from the Department.”
GHISLAINE MAXWELL FOLLOWS PRISON FITNESS ROUTINE, VIDEO SHOWS, AS DOJ’S JEFFREY EPSTEIN MEMO DRAWS HEAT
The new outreach to Maxwell marks the first time, according to Blanche, that any administration has approached her legal team with an inquiry into potential cooperation.
“That changes now,” Blanche emphasized.
Blanche said he “anticipates meeting with Ms. Maxwell in the coming days.”
David Oscar Markus, Maxwell’s attorney, confirmed to Fox News that they are “in discussions with the government and that Ghislaine will always testify truthfully.”
“We are grateful to President Trump for his commitment to uncovering the truth in this case,” he said.
Patel responded succinctly to Blanche’s statement, writing on X Tuesday: “Get it.”
Maxwell was convicted in 2021 of helping Epstein traffic teen girls. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison and has appealed her case to the U.S. Supreme Court.
According to prosecutors’ and survivor’s testimony, Maxwell helped recruit and groom underage girls, arrange travel and housing, as well as facilitate abuse at properties owned by Epstein.
Victims described Maxwell as a trusted adult figure who manipulated and coerced them into sexual encounters with Epstein and others.

Colbert fires back at Trump with expletive after president mocks him over losing show
CBS late night host Stephen Colbert didn’t mince any words Monday night about his show’s cancellation, telling the president off in coarse fashion to audience cheers.
During the opening monologue of “The Late Show,” Colbert dished on what led to CBS’ decision to end his show and gave President Donald Trump a few jabs, joking that he won’t be holding back now that his show’s on borrowed time.
“And now for the next ten months, the gloves are off,” he said, “I can finally speak unvarnished truth to power, and say what I really think about Donald Trump starting right now. I don’t care for him.”
SCHIFF, WARREN DEMAND TO KNOW IF CBS IS ENDING STEPHEN COLBERT’S ‘LATE SHOW’ FOR ‘POLITICAL REASONS’
Elsewhere, Colbert fired back at Trump for celebrating his show’s cancellation.
“I absolutely love that Colbert got fired,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Thursday night. “His talent was even less than his ratings. I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert! Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.”
“How dare you, sir?” Colbert responded on-air. “Would an untalented man be able to compose the following satirical witticism? Go f— yourself.”
The liberal audience cheered loudly in response.
CBS announced last Thursday that it would cancel “The Late Show” next May at the end of its broadcast season.
The network clarified that the cancellation was “purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night,” and noted, “It is not related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount.”
COLBERT GRILLS DEM SOCIALIST NYC MAYORAL CANDIDATE ZOHRAN MAMDANI ON ISRAEL, ANTISEMITISM
During the Monday show, Colbert discussed CBS’ reasons for canceling the show, asking, “How could it purely be a financial decision if ‘The Late Show’ is number one in ratings?”
The host cited Puck News journalist Matt Belloni, who reported that Colbert’s show “has been losing more than $40 million a year.”
“$40 million’s a big number. I could see us losing $24 million, but where would Paramount have possibly spent the other $16 million?” he asked, mocking CBS News and its parent company’s recent $16 million settlement with Trump, following the president’s lawsuit against both.

Meanwhile, Fox News Channel’s “Gutfeld!” has surged to become late-night’s highest-rated program. In the second quarter of 2025, the show notched 3 million viewers and 365,000 in the 25-54 age demographic at the 10 p.m. ET hour, putting it ahead of “The Late Show,” “The Daily Show,” and late-night programs on ABC and NBC.

GOP lawmaker rips ‘unacceptable’ Mamdani comments leaving key voting bloc ‘petrified’
EXCLUSIVE: Inna Vernikov, a New York City Republican councilwoman, told Fox News Digital that voters in her heavily Jewish district are “petrified” about the prospect of socialist Zohran Mamdani becoming the city’s next mayor.
“This is a guy who wants to globalize the intifada,” Vernikov told Fox News Digital. “We’ve never seen anything close to this in New York City. We have the largest Jewish population in America, and I’ll tell you Jews are telling me they’re going to run away from New York City, and Jews have contributed a lot to the city and to this country, and the idea that they are now afraid to live here it’s unacceptable and unprecedented really, this has never happened here.”
Mamdani has been widely criticized for his anti-Israel positions dating back to his college days, when he founded his school’s Students for Justice in Palestine chapter. In recent weeks, Mamdani has been criticized over a perceived reticence to condemn the phrase “globalize the intifada,” which he now says he will not use and will discourage others from doing.
Mamdani’s father, Mahmood, has also faced scrutiny over his past writings and comments, which included a social media post celebrating a potential “third intifadah against settler colonialism” in Israel.
MAMDANI CONFRONTED ON STREETS OF NYC ABOUT ‘COMMUNIST’ LABEL, REFUSES TO ANSWER
“The intifada is a call for violence, we’ve seen what happened during two intifadas where people were murdered, innocent people lost their lives,” Vernikov said, adding that “there’s a lot of fear in the Jewish community if this guy becomes mayor.”
Vernikov, who is Jewish, told Fox News Digital people she has spoken to in her district are “petrified” of Mamdani becoming mayor.
MAMDANI SPARKS FIRESTORM WITH RESURFACED COMMENT ON ABOLISHING PRIVATE PROPERTY: ‘HE’S A COMMUNIST’
Numerous Jewish groups have come out in staunch opposition against Mamdani’s candidacy. Brooke Goldstein, a human rights attorney, told Fox News Digital earlier this month that “Zohran Mamdani has built his political brand on the same radical, hate-filled and anti-American ideology his father, Mahmood Mamdani, has spent decades promoting—one that demonizes Jewish people and legitimizes anti-democratic violence.”
Fox News Digital reached out to Mamdani’s campaign for comment.

Vernikov took issue with Democrats who have started to endorse Mamdani, which experts say could cause problems for the Democratic Party if he wins in November, and criticized their excuse that “he’s the Democratic nominee.”
“I’m curious, I have a question,” Vernikov told Fox News Digital. “If this Democratic nominee would be like a KKK member or would call for annihilation of the black community, would they still you know, come behind him as hard as they are now, and I would think that the answer would be no, but when it comes to the Jews, that’s okay.”
“So it’s really hypocritical, unacceptable, and disgusting, and they’ve been endorsing him one by one. While Republicans are fighting antisemitism on behalf of Jewish Americans every day, the Democrats are supporting an antisemite.”
Democrat DA hopeful slammed for inviting ex-cons to join campaign team at $7K a month
A Democrat vying to become Nassau County, New York’s next district attorney is in the hot seat after a campaign job posting encouraged convicted criminals to apply and earn up to $7,000 a month.
Candidate Nicole Aloise’s campaign posted the ad to Indeed.com, seeking a “communications director” to engage with the media and the public – but the line “people with a criminal record are encouraged to apply” is drawing ire from her opponent.
“I think that’s exactly what it says,” incumbent Republican District Attorney Anne Donnelly told Fox News on Tuesday.
ERIC ADAMS HIT WITH ACCUSATION OF OPERATING ‘CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY’ AT NYPD
“This criminal coddling that’s been going on since they started with cashless bail, discovery reform, pay for free lawyers for everybody, is just getting out of hand. As the district attorney, my job is to prosecute criminals and to help victims, and nobody seems to care about the victims anymore.”
The job posting was later adjusted to remove the request for criminal applicants and the posting has since expired.
Donnelly, a Republican, told “Fox & Friends First” she has no objection to criminals receiving a second chance after serving their time, but insisted Aloise inviting criminals into the “heart of [her] campaign for the highest ranking law enforcement officer of the county” suggests “she’s blind to what her job is supposed to be.”

“We deal with sensitive material, we deal with confidential material, we deal with some of the most intriguing investigations that are going on — things that you can’t share, except with trusted individuals, not criminals,” she added.
Some municipalities bar employers from discriminating against convicted criminals, The New York Post reported.
Aloise’s campaign manager, Ellen McCormick, provided the following statement to Fox News:
“Nicole Aloise spent 16 years locking up violent felons. Donnelly’s reaction to a setting on a third party website says more about her record than Nicole’s. This story is a cheap shot by the Donnelley campaign to distract from the fact that Nicole has outraised her by almost $100,000 and that law enforcement unions chose Nicole over the sitting D.A. Maybe instead of focusing on this distraction, Donnelly should be working on getting crime under control and retaining her own staff. Crime in Nassau is up 44% on her watch while she’s lost more than 90 experienced prosecutors due to her failed leadership.”

Donnelly refuted the statement, calling it the most “disingenuous” she had ever heard.
“Crime is not up 44%. I spoke to the police commissioner yesterday. We are down in every major crime across the border in Nassau County. We were voted the safest county in the United States by US News and World Report. She did not outraise me by $100,000. I outraised her by $500,000, so disingenuous comments that they’re making also say to me [that] she’s not being honest in her campaign, she’s not being truthful and being a district attorney is all about honesty and truth.”
‘She never knew what was killing her’: Friend testifies in dentist poison trial
Angela Craig’s lifelong best friend took the stand Monday as the Colorado murder trial of dentist James Craig entered its second week, telling jurors that the mother of six was never the kind of woman who gave up easily.
“She wasn’t a risk-taker. She wasn’t manipulative,” Nicole Harmon told the court. “And she never said anything — ever — about wanting to die.”
Dr. James Toliver Craig, 47, is charged with first-degree murder in the March 2023 death of his wife, 43-year-old Angela Craig. Her cause of death was determined to be lethal doses of cyanide and tetrahydrozoline.
DENTIST ACCUSED OF POISONING WIFE’S SHAKE SAID HE GAVE HER ‘TOO MUCH PROTEIN’: CO-WORKER
On March 9, 2023, approximately one week before the 43-year-old was pronounced brain-dead, Angela texted Harmon asking for help checking her blood sugar. When she arrived, she found Angela curled up.
“She hadn’t eaten. She couldn’t stand,” Harmon said, telling the jury that James had made his wife a shake that morning.
When the friend texted and asked what was going on, she testified, James brushed it off.
“Post-COVID,” he texted. “Not diabetes.”
Not once, she told jurors, did he mention poison.
“Angela never knew what was killing her,” the witness said. Harmon shared that she and her husband, Mike, had known the Craigs since the 2000s.
Angela was hospitalized for five days. Through Angela’s prolonged hospital stays, Harmon said that she never expressed that she wanted to die.

Harmon’s testimony went back to 2019, when the witness said James made a confession to her and her husband.
He told them in 2019 that he planned to inject himself with a lethal substance and had drugged Angela first so she wouldn’t stop him.
David Gelman, a criminal defense attorney who has been following the case, told Fox News Digital that the drugging incident could help the prosecution “because it shows that James was predisposed to drugging Angela before.”
“It required intent and thought. The same motive that the prosecution has now for James,” he said. “That is an aspect I would really hammer if I’m the prosecution.”

James also admitted to the Harmons that he, in 2019, was dealing with a “sexual addiction,” and told them that he was in therapy, she testified.
Angela, her friend said, never brought it up. Harmon testified that she sent Angela a message later: “I’m sorry. I didn’t know you were dealing with this.”
Angela replied: “You weren’t there when I needed you.”
COLORADO DENTIST’S ALLEGED INTERNET SEARCH HISTORY TAKES CENTER STAGE AS MURDER TRIAL BEGINS
From that moment, the decades-long friendship fractured.
“She was angry,” Harmon said. “Really mad at her life and how it was turning out. And I was OK with that. I was OK with her taking it out on me.”
Gelman said the years-long gap in communication between Angela and her best friend doesn’t undermine the witness’s reliability.
“It doesn’t hurt her credibility. She can only testify by what she has observed and her conversations with Angela,” he said. “Obviously, she is not privy to the inner workings of the marriage with James since the relationship fractured, but her credibility is still intact since she was not confused or crossed up on the stand.”
The longtime friend testified that Angela never opened up about the inner workings of her marriage.
“She had all the chances,” the witness said. “She never told me. She didn’t want me to see her husband differently.”

Investigators alleged in court documents obtained by Fox News Digital that, in the weeks before his wife’s hospitalization and death, James used a dental office computer to search for “undetectable poisons” and how to obtain them (later purchasing arsenic and cyanide by mail), “how many grams of pure arsenic will kill a human” and “is arsenic detectable in an autopsy?”
Alongside these online searches, investigators alleged he made YouTube queries such as “how to make poison” and “Top 5 Undetectable Poisons That Show No Signs of Foul Play.”

Red Sox stunned as Phillies beat them on rare play not seen since 1971
The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Boston Red Sox in walk-off fashion, but in a bizarre way that hasn’t happened since 1971.
With the bases loaded and no outs in the bottom of the 10th inning, Edmundo Sosa was trying to be the hero at the plate in Citizens Banks Park. However, when he attempted to swing at a Red Sox pitch outside the strike zone, he checked his bat just in time as to not cross the plate for a strike call.
As he was doing it, though, his bat made contact with Red Sox catcher Carlos Narvaez’s glove – catcher’s interference.

No, Sosa wasn’t intending on swinging all the way through the pitch, but when the bat makes contact with the catcher’s glove, it’s an automatic interference call and a trip to first base. With the bases loaded and nowhere to put Sosa, Brandon Marsh waltzed home for the 3-2 victory.
PHILLIES STAR NICK CASTELLANOS YELLS AT FAN FOR BERATING TEAMMATE AFTER LOSS: ‘CROSSED MULTIPLE LINES’
While a celebration unfolded for the Phillies, the Red Sox couldn’t believe that’s the way they went out on the road Monday night.
This marked the second time ever a catcher’s interference ended a baseball game in the divisional era, which began in 1969, per MLB.com. The last time it happened was 1971.
It was a huge win either way for Philadelphia, as they maintained their NL East lead by a half-game over the New York Mets, who came back to beat the Los Angeles Angels, 7-5, in their matchup on Monday.
The Phillies saw RBI singles from Nick Castellanos and J.T. Realmuto in the fourth inning, but those were the only two runs they scored over the first nine innings.
Boston, which saw Jarren Duran belt a homer in the top of the first inning, finally got back on the scoreboard thanks to Trevor Story to tie the game.

Company goes all-in on Trump admin’s push to make new products with real sugar
Coca-Cola announced on Tuesday that it plans to launch a new product made with real sugar as soon as this fall amid ongoing pressure from the Trump administration to ensure the nation’s food supply has cleaner ingredients.
“As part of its ongoing innovation agenda, this fall in the United States, the company plans to launch an offering made with U.S. cane sugar to expand its Trademark Coca-Cola product range,” the company said in its second-quarter earnings report. “This addition is designed to complement the company’s strong core portfolio and offer more choices across occasions and preferences.”
The announcement comes days after President Donald Trump said on social media that the beverage giant agreed to use “real” cane sugar in Coke sold in the United States.
NUTRITIONISTS REACT TO THE RED FOOD DYE BAN: ‘TOOK FAR TOO LONG’
“I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I’d like to thank all of those in authority at Coca-Cola. This will be a very good move by them — You’ll see. It’s just better!”

In the 1980s, the beverage giant swapped cane sugar, which came with high tariffs, for high-fructose corn syrup. High-fructose corn syrup was the cheaper alternative due to corn farming subsidies.
After Trump’s comments, Arun Sundaram, vice president and senior equity analyst at CFRA Research, projected last week that competitors will follow suit “as demand for cleaner ingredients in food and beverage products continues to rise.”
However, industry experts raised concerns that this switch would come at a cost to consumers, given that natural sugar is more expensive.
The main issue, according to Bryan Le, a food scientist and principal food consultant at Mendocino Food Consulting, is that there is significantly more corn available in the U.S. compared to cane sugar.
The move comes as Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been aggressively examining the nation’s food system to address the root causes of chronic childhood diseases since taking office earlier this year.
Under his MAHA initiative, the administration said it would “lead a coordinated transformation of our food, health, and scientific systems” that it believes will “ensure that all Americans—today and in the future—live longer, healthier lives, supported by systems that prioritize prevention, well being, and resilience.”
FDA BANS ARTIFICIAL RED DYE: WHAT THIS MEANS FOR CONSUMERS
Kennedy has taken issue with various ingredients, saying that products such as seed oil and FD&C color additives in particular are harmful to humans.
Kennedy and the FDA announced a series of new measures in April to phase out all petroleum-based synthetic dyes from the nation’s food supply, noting that this effort would need voluntary support from food manufacturers.

A growing number of companies, including General Mills and Kraft Heinz, two of the largest food manufacturers globally, have already voluntarily decided to reformulate products to align with the administration’s goals.
