Longtime progressive activist Katie Wilson will face off against incumbent Mayor Bruce Harrell in November’s general election after securing the top two places in Tuesday’s nonpartisan mayoral primary.

Wilson secured around 46% of the vote to Harrell’s 45%, according to reporting from FOX 13.

“Tonight, we got results that were even better than we hoped, and it’s likely to only get better,” Wilson wrote on X. “Seattle, you showed up! It’s clear that voters want change. This is your city. Join the campaign, and let’s get this done!”

Widely known for her role in helping establish and continuing to lead the left-wing Transit Riders Union, Wilson champions progressive positions such as minimum wage increases, better access to public transit and affordable housing. She has also pledged to “Trump-proof” the City of Seattle, and has been likened to New York City’s Zohran Mamdani by political pundits.

Harrell, who served on the Seattle City Council for more than a decade before being elected mayor in 2021, is considered the establishment candidate in the race.

SEATTLE MAYORAL CANDIDATE VOWS TO ‘TRUMP-PROOF’ THE CITY IF ELECTED

Both candidates raked in far greater campaign war chests than the other seven candidates who ran in Tuesday’s primary, according to Seattle Ethics and Elections records.

Harrell, who received nearly 100 endorsements from current elected officials, narrowly beat out Wilson when it came to fundraising ahead of the primary, bringing in a little over $500,000, according to filings. Wilson, meanwhile, brought in about $475,000 in campaign contributions.

Moving on to the general election, Wilson is hoping to prevent Harrell from becoming Seattle’s first mayor to win re-election in two decades.

THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY NEEDS ‘GENERATIONAL CHANGE,’ FORMER WHITE HOUSE OFFICIAL SAYS

Meanwhile, Wilson has criticized Harrell for being more focused on dismantling homeless encampments than boosting the availability of shelters, and accused him of being part of the political status quo.

“We need leadership that is going to listen to voters and govern in the interest of people in the city and not corporate backers,” Wilson said, referring to Harrell, in a March interview with PBS. During the interview, Wilson cited Harrell’s work on affordable housing, arguing he was “the face of the campaign to undermine” a proposition that would have boosted affordable housing development.

But Harell has defended his record as mayor, touting to local news outlet My Northwest that his administration has “put over a billion dollars in affordable housing.”

“My re-election is supported by 100+ current and former elected officials, labor, as well as affordable housing, environmental, community, and transportation leaders,” Harrell wrote on social media last week. “I’m proud of the broad and diverse coalition we’ve built to keep Seattle moving forward.”

California senator faces criminal investigation after allegedly falsifying residence claims

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., is under criminal investigation for mortgage fraud, a Trump administration source told Fox News.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham broke the news on Tuesday night on “The Ingraham Angle,” saying the source said a criminal investigation is being conducted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maryland on possible charges involving mortgage fraud.

The investigation comes a month after a story broke about the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) sending a criminal referral to the Department of Justice (DOJ) alleging that Schiff, in multiple instances, falsified bank documents and property records to acquire more favorable loan terms.

In a 2011 affidavit signed by the then California congressman, Schiff certified that a property in Montgomery County, Maryland, is his primary residence.

HOW TRUMP’S ‘NO SHRINKING VIOLETS’ DOJ IS DIGGING IN ON SCHIFF’S MORTGAGE DEALINGS AS LEGAL PERIL LOOMS

Schiff also owns a condominium in Burbank, California, which he has also claimed as his primary residence as recently as 2023, during his campaign for Senate.

Schiff’s office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on the matter.

The director of the UFHFA sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in May citing alleged misconduct by Schiff.

COULD SENATOR ADAM SCHIFF REALLY GO TO JAIL OVER ALLEGED MORTGAGE FRAUD?

“Based on media reports, Mr. Adam B. Schiff has, in multiple instances, falsified bank documents and property records to acquire more favorable loan terms, impacting payments from 2003-2019 for a Potomac, Maryland-based property,” FHFA Director William Pulte wrote in the letter. “As regulator of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Home Loan Banks, we take very seriously allegations of mortgage fraud or other criminal activity. Such misconduct jeopardizes the safety and soundness of FHFA’s regulated entities and the security and stability of the U.S. mortgage market.”

Pulte later received a memo from the Fannie Mae financial crimes investigations concluding that Schiff allegedly engaged in “a sustained pattern of possible occupancy misrepresentation” on five Fannie Mae loans, Fox News has learned.

Schiff and his wife purchased a home in Potomac, Maryland, in 2003 for $870,000, according to the letter. They entered into a Fannie Mae-backed mortgage agreement for $610,000 at a rate of 5.625% over a term of 30 years, asserting the property would be their primary and principal residence.

The letter said they reaffirmed that the Maryland home was their primary residence in mortgage refinancing filings in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013, despite Schiff being an elected official representing the state of California at the same time.

Fox News obtained a copy of the 2011 affidavit showing Schiff signed certifying that the Maryland house is his primary residence.

Pulte said Schiff and his wife did not list the Maryland home as their secondary residence until 2020.

Over the same time frame, Schiff took a homeowner’s tax exemption on a condo that he owns in Burbank, California, also claiming that home as his primary residence for a $7,000 reduction off of the 1% property tax, Pulte wrote, citing media reports.

In 2023, the letter notes, a spokesperson for Schiff asserted that, “Adam’s primary residence is Burbank, California, and will remain so when he wins the Senate seat.”

The federal housing official wrote that he believes Schiff’s alleged misconduct could be violations of federal criminal codes banning wire fraud, mail fraud, bank fraud and false statements to financial institutions.

Schiff “appears to have falsified records in order to receive favorable loan terms, and also appears to have been aware of the financial benefits of a primary residence mortgage when compared to a secondary residence mortgage,” Pulte wrote.

According to the letter, a spokesperson for Schiff in 2023 told CNN that, “Adam’s California and Maryland addresses have been listed as primary residences for loan purposes because they are both occupied throughout the year and to distinguish them from a vacation property.”

Last year, the letter notes, a federal jury convicted Marilyn Mosby of making false statements on a mortgage application for a Florida condominium when she was the Baltimore City state’s attorney.

Teamsters chief claims VP pointed finger and warned union to ‘get on board’

Teamsters president Sean O’Brien accused then-Vice President Kamala Harris of pressuring his union for an endorsement Tuesday, recounting a tense meeting in which she allegedly said the union “better get on board.”

O’Brien spoke with The Free Press founder and editor Bari Weiss on her “Honestly” podcast about who truly represents the American working class in a shifting political landscape.

He described one off-putting encounter a Teamsters leader had with the 2024 presidential candidate in a photo op line:

“So, Joan goes in the line and Joan says, ‘I’m Joan Corey. I’m a vice president with the Teamsters Union,’ and [Harris] pointed her finger at Joan and said, ‘Teamsters better get on board,’ and so Joan says, ‘Excuse me?’ ‘Yeah, Teamsters better get on board. I don’t know why you haven’t endorsed me yet.’ So she comes back, and she tells me this, and I’m like, ‘The nerve!'”

‘THE VIEW’ CO-HOST DESCRIBES HARRIS INTERVIEW AS ‘MICROCOSM OF EVERYTHING THAT’S WRONG’ WITH DEMOCRATIC PARTY

O’Brien, who has criticized the Democratic Party in the past, went on to claim that when Harris met with the union’s executive board, which had prepared a slate of 16 questions, she only answered four questions.

“She really didn’t answer the questions, and then on the fourth question my chief of staff slides me an index card and says, ‘This is the last question. She’s not answering anymore,’ because she wanted to, like, pontificate and give her speech of why the country is the way it is, why we should endorse her.”

O’Brien paraphrased her closing as essentially telling the union leadership, “‘Listen, I’m going to win with you or without you.’”

“And it was like such a smug answer, like, okay, and that turned the majority of the people in that room off her,” he said. O’Brien then described their postmortem of the meeting, noting that many in the union leadership were turned off by Harris’ smug demeanor and body language.

“You could smell it a mile away,” he said.

The Teamsters declined to endorse a candidate in the 2024 presidential race, a move that sparked internal and external criticism.

“Once we announced that there was going to be no endorsement, that’s when all the keyboard warriors came out and the attacks from the DSA and, you know, my friends that were allegedly my friends that were, you know, high-ranking senators of the Democratic Party,” he said. “Once I spoke at the RNC, then I was, you know, no good.”

Harris didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Woody Allen’s note reportedly exposes life inside Epstein’s Manhattan mansion

Jeffrey Epstein’s Manhattan townhouse was akin to “Castle Dracula,” Woody Allen allegedly typed out in an undated letter reportedly sent to the convicted sex offender.

Allen, 89, allegedly gave the note to Epstein in 2016 for his birthday, according to documents obtained by the New York Times.

The “Annie Hall” director praised the late financier for his ability to connect a myriad of “interesting people” at his lavish dinner parties, which Allen claimed he regularly attended with his wife Soon-Yi.

Allen allegedly wrote that he “always” accepted an invitation to an event at Epstein’s palatial digs, a seven-story, 21,000-square-foot abode in the heart of New York City.

“Being neighbors, my wife Soon-Yi and I have been invited for dinner many times,” Allen allegedly wrote. “Always accept, always interesting. Wide variety of interesting people at every dinner just about. Politicians, scientists, teachers, magicians, comedians, intellectuals, journalists, an entymologist, a concert pianist.”

“Anyhow, it’s always interesting and the food is sumptuous and abundant. Lots of dishes, plenty of choices, numerous desse[r]ts, well served. I say well served – often it’s by some professional houseman and just as often by several young women reminding one of Castle Dracula where Lugosi has three young female vampires who service the place. Add to this that Jeffrey lives in a vast house alone, one can picture him sleeping in damp earth.”

Allen described one particularly satisfactory meal, where he and Soon-Yi dined among a “list of accomplished types.”

“But back to the food. Dependably a fine dinner but this was not always the case,” Allen wrote. “In fact, the first time we came over it was a very different story. We were invited with a list of accomplished types, men and women in journalism, in TV, even royalty. We were ushered up to the living room where everyone sat around prior to dinner being served and chatted. No drinks were served. You could get one if you asked for one. That should have been the first clue.”

He continued, “When the meal was put out downstairs it was meager (sic). So meagre (sic) my wife the ones sitting next to her kept mumbling, is this it? Is this all we’re getting? After I leave I may have to go to a restaurant. We didn’t want to say anything when we came the next time but my wife did say in that tactful way she has, there is going to be more food, isn’t there? Under her badgering the situation gradually improved and subsequent dinners offered buckets of Chinese food ordered from a local restaurant and placed on a buffet where one could get in line and help one’s self.”

“It all seemed odd for a man of substance who entertained many illustrious guests often. Under contined (sic) badgering by my wife arrangements were made for food to be cooked at home and served. She had to explain the order in which things come out. Not the main course and then the appetizer but the other way around.

“In time she bullied him into putting a few flowers in the middle of the table to make it look mildly warm and inviting. This took time and a number of corrections but his meals have been tweaked into some sense of normal, civil, dining. The large phone and computer at his right hand does take some of the relaxed home-cooking atmosphere out of it but but one can’t have everything – not at Castle Dracula.”

Representatives for Woody Allen did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Allen and Soon-Yi met when Allen was in a relationship with Soon-Yi’s adoptive mother, Mia Farrow. The two began a relationship despite their 35-year age difference. Allen was accused by his adoptive daughter, Dylan Farrow, of sexual abuse. Allen has denied the allegations.

Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell in 2019, one month after his arrest on federal charges for sex trafficking of minors in Florida and New York. He had previously pleaded guilty to prostitution charges as part of a plea deal, and served 13 months in a Palm Beach jail.

His accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, is currently serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking. Maxwell was recently transferred to a lower-security facility, Federal Prison Camp Bryan, in Texas.

FPC Bryan, which is home to roughly 600 female inmates convicted of non-violent crimes, serves as a minimum-security prison that also houses Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes and Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star, Jen Shah.

Her defense team told the Supreme Court Tuesday that it opposes a judge releasing grand jury transcripts in her sex trafficking case after the Trump Department of Justice moved to unseal them.

Maxwell’s attorneys wrote in court papers that the unsealing would jeopardize her appeal to the Supreme Court and that their client could not take an “informed position” since the court had declined to let her defense team see the transcripts in advance.

The move by Maxwell, while expected, adds to the obstacles the DOJ must overcome to release grand jury transcripts from Epstein’s and Maxwell’s cases. The department had requested the material after President Donald Trump called for Attorney General Pam Bondi to do more to assuage public outcry about the DOJ’s initial decision last month to withhold any further information about Epstein’s case.

Trump, who was among the many high-profile figures in Epstein’s social circle, had previously brushed off growing calls from MAGA supporters to unveil more information about Epstein’s case after the late financier was accused in 2019 of engaging in sex trafficking and sexual abuse of underage women.

But a renewed public focus on Trump’s relationship with Epstein prompted the president to shift his stance and claim that while some of the files were fabricated by Democrats, the DOJ should release what it could.

African nation strikes deal with Trump to accept hundreds of Biden’s ‘infiltrators’

Rwanda has agreed to take in illegal immigrants deported from the United States amid the Trump administration’s plans to send deportees to third countries.

Under the agreement, the country will take up to 250 deportees from the U.S., with “the ability to approve each individual proposed for resettlement,” Rwandan government spokesperson Yolande Makolo told The Associated Press.

DHS ANNOUNCES ‘THIRD COUNTRY DEPORTATION FLIGHT’ LANDED IN SOUTHERN AFRICA’S ESWATINI

A State Department official told Fox News Digital that the U.S. works with Rwanda on a range of “mutual priorities” and that ongoing engagements with other governments is “vital to deterring illegal and mass migration and securing our borders.”

Rwanda would be the third country to take in illegal immigrants from the U.S.

Last month, the Trump administration sent 13 men it described as dangerous criminals who were in the U.S. illegally to South Sudan and Eswatini in Africa after their native countries refused to take them back.

The U.S. has said it is seeking more agreements with African nations.

“The United States is constantly engaged in diplomatic conversations with foreign nations who are willing to assist us in removing the illegal aliens that Joe Biden allowed to infiltrate American communities,” a White House official told Fox News Digital.

In addition to Rwanda, the U.S. has also deported hundreds of Venezuelans and others to Costa Rica, Panama and El Salvador.

In early July, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Trump administration, allowing it to deport certain migrants to countries other than their homeland.

In 2022, Rwanda struck a deal with the United Kingdom to accept migrants who arrived there to claim asylum. The deal was scrapped once Britain’s Labour government took over.

Criticis of the deal voiced concerns regarding Rwanda’s human rights record and the possible dangers for refugees.

In addition, Britain’s Supreme Court ruled in 2023 that the deal was unlawful because Rwanda was not a safe third country for migrants.

Authorities in Florida arrested a man early Tuesday morning after discovering a loaded AR-15 rifle and several knives inside a rental vehicle parked in a restricted area at a Palm Beach County Airport, according to law enforcement officials.

Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) deputies responded around 7:10 a.m. after airport operations staff reported a suspicious individual standing outside a dark-colored vehicle in a secure parking zone.

When deputies arrived, they found the man, later identified as Michael Rodrigues, 41, of no known local address, outside the vehicle, reportedly getting dressed. Deputies determined the vehicle was a rental and opened the glove compartment to retrieve the rental agreement. Inside, they found a fully loaded AR-15 magazine.

A full search of the vehicle uncovered a loaded AR-15 rifle and multiple knives hidden beneath a blanket on the seat. The man was taken into custody without incident and is currently being interviewed by detectives.

President Donald Trump on Monday threatened to federalize Washington, D.C., calling for local minors and gang members over the age of 14 to be prosecuted as adults, after a famed former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employee was allegedly beaten in the nation’s capital.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said local youth and gang members are “randomly attacking, mugging, maiming, and shooting innocent citizens, at the same time knowing that they will be almost immediately released.”

Along with the post, Trump shared a photo of a bloodied man on the street.

Multiple sources told Fox News Digital the person in the photo shared by the president is Edward Coristine, the teenager known as “Big Balls,” who previously worked for DOGE.

Sources told Fox News Digital Coristine was violently attacked late Sunday or early Monday.

DEMOCRATIC LEADERS ACCUSE TRUMP OF LEGITIMIZING POLITICAL VIOLENCE THAT LED TO MINNESOTA SHOOTINGS

“The most recent victim was beaten mercilessly by local thugs,” Trump wrote. “… Perhaps it should have been done a long time ago, then this incredible young man, and so many others, would not have had to go through the horrors of Violent Crime. If this continues, I am going to exert my powers, and FEDERALIZE this City. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Former DOGE head Elon Musk weighed in on X, sharing more of the story.

“A few days ago, a gang of about a dozen young men tried to assault a woman in her car at night in DC,” Musk wrote. “A @Doge team member saw what was happening, ran to defend her and was severely beaten to the point of concussion, but he saved her. It is time to federalize DC.”

When speaking with reporters Tuesday night, Trump said, “Either they’re going to straighten their act out in terms of government and in terms of protection, or we’re going to have to federalize and run it the way it’s supposed to be run.”

The president said it appears criminals are “not afraid” of the police, because “nothing ever happens to them.”

Washington, D.C. must be safe, clean, and beautiful for all Americans and, importantly, for the World to see,” he wrote in the post. “If D.C. doesn’t get its act together, and quickly, we will have no choice but to take Federal control of the City, and run this City how it should be run, and put criminals on notice that they’re not going to get away with it anymore.”

Cruise ship loses power near Italy, thousands stranded as vessel drifts at sea

A dream vacation took a dark turn after passengers on board a Celebrity Cruises vessel reportedly experienced a temporary loss of power over the weekend, leaving it adrift for several hours.

The ship, Constellation, was sailing near the Italian coast on Saturday, Aug. 2, when it encountered a power outage that a spokesperson for Royal Caribbean Group, Celebrity Cruises’ parent company, described as a “technical issue.”

Reports indicate the vessel was without electricity and air conditioning for under three hours, though the cruise line has not specified what caused the issue or how it was resolved.

Despite the outage, passengers were reportedly still able to use their cellphones, as the ship was sailing close enough to shore to maintain service, according to a statement to Fox News Digital from the cruise line.

Cruise tracking website CruiseMapper shows the ship is currently on an 11-day itinerary that began on July 28 from Porto Corsini in Ravenna, Italy. Scheduled stops include destinations in Croatia and Montenegro, with the cruise concluding on Aug. 8 in Civitavecchia, the nearest port to Rome.

According to Celebrity Cruises’ website, the ship can carry up to 2,184 guests.

These generators, located on the upper decks with an independent fuel supply, according to the website, are designed to support essential systems, including emergency lighting, fire detection, elevators and even engine restarts. They also ensure that communication through radio, fax and email remains functional.

The recent incident echoes concerns raised in a June Netflix docuseries titled “Trainwreck: Poop Cruise,” which recounted the infamous 2013 incident aboard the Carnival Triumph. During that cruise, a fire in the engine room destroyed electrical cables, leaving the vessel powerless in the Gulf of Mexico.

Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham appeared to be hit by a projectile sex toy during Tuesday night’s game vs. the Los Angeles Sparks. The incident came in the final minutes of the second quarter as the Fever prepared to inbound the ball.

It is the third instance of a green sex toy being hurled onto a WNBA court in the past few weeks, in what has become a growing trend. The first came in a game in Atlanta on July 29, and it happened again in Chicago on Aug. 1.

Now, the latest incident has also made Cunningham the victim on the same day that she publicly lamented the idea of a player being hit by said object.

During Tuesday’s episode of her podcast, Cunningham addressed the issue of the objects being hurled onto courts, and speculated what the fallout would look like if a player were hit by one.

“I just know how things go viral now, and I just know if that thing like even came from like the rafters or bows and just slap me right in the face, I could never, I could, that would be what I’d be known for life,” Cunningham said. “And yeah, it could break a f—in nose.”

Cunningham said her mom even told her to beware of the possibility of being hit by such an object.

“My mom, she goes, instead of like my good luck text, she goes ‘watch out for flying d-ldos tonight,’” Cunningham said.

To make matters worse for Cunningham and her team, the Fever lost to the Sparks 100-91.

Cunningham previously sent a post on X Friday telling fans to end the charade.

“Stop throwing dildos on the court… you’re going to hurt one of us,” she wrote.

Cunningham made light of the situation by resharing that post after Tuesday’s game with the message, “This did not age well.”

The stunts have even resulted in an arrest. The WNBA announced on Saturday that one of the culprits had been arrested, and there would be further punishments for whoever threw an object onto the playing surface.

A 23-year-old is facing charges of disorderly conduct, public indecency/indecent exposure, and criminal trespass for hurling one of the items onto a court last week.

“The safety and well-being of everyone in our arenas is a top priority for our league. Objects of any kind thrown onto the court or in the seating area can pose a safety risk for players, game officials, and fans,” the WNBA said in a statement.

“In line with WNBA Arena Security Standards, any fan who intentionally throws an object onto the court will be immediately ejected and face a minimum one-year ban in addition to being subject to arrest and prosecution by local authorities.”
