‘Tragic accident’: Millions back illegal immigrant trucker facing homicide charges
A petition urging Florida officials to show leniency toward Harjinder Singh, an illegal immigrant truck driver accused of causing a crash that killed three people, has garnered nearly 2.5 million signatures as of Sunday afternoon.
The petition — posted on the website Change.org and addressed to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis — calls for both DeSantis and the Florida Board of Executive Clemency to re-examine the case against the 28-year-old. Singh faces three counts of vehicular homicide and three counts of manslaughter in connection with the deadly Aug. 12 crash.
Harjinder Singh, 28, an illegal immigrant, was operating a commercial semi-truck with a trailer on the Florida Turnpike in Fort Pierce when he allegedly attempted a U-turn in an unauthorized area. The trailer jackknifed and collided with a minivan, killing all three of its passengers, according to officials.
JUDGE DENIES BOND FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT TRUCKER IN DEADLY FLORIDA TURNPIKE WRECK
Singh was arrested in Stockton, California, on Aug. 16 and later extradited to Florida. Investigators determined that he and his passenger, Harneet Singh, fled to Sacramento the day after the crash, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
On Saturday, a Florida judge denied bond to Singh, ruling that he is an unauthorized alien and a substantial flight risk. St. Lucie County Judge Lauren Sweet also found probable cause for all six charges against Singh and classified them as forcible felonies under Florida law.
ICE ARRESTS BROTHER OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT TRUCKER IN DEADLY FLORIDA TURNPIKE WRECK
“This was a tragic accident — not a deliberate act,” the petition states. “While accountability matters, the severity of the charges against him does not align with the circumstances of the incident.”
If convicted, the petition requests that Singh receive a “proportionate and reasonable” sentence, that parole eligibility be granted after part of his sentence is served and that alternatives to incarceration — like counseling or community service — be considered.
DESANTIS: STATE LINE WON’T PROTECT CRIMINAL ILLEGALS; SENDS ‘CHUCK NORRIS’ DEPUTY TO NAB FUGITIVE TRUCKER
The petition is signed by “Collective Punjabi youth.”
Authorities said Singh crossed into the U.S. illegally in 2018 via the southern border, later obtaining a commercial driver’s license in California. He attempted to obtain work authorization, but it was rejected by the first Trump administration on Sept. 14, 2020, according to Tricia McLaughlin, Homeland Security assistant secretary for public affairs.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced this week that the U.S. is halting work visas for foreign commercial truck drivers, a move praised by conservatives in the wake of the deadly crash.

‘Completely taken away’: Trump battles Grassley over judicial nominations
President Donald Trump on Sunday blasted the Senate’s “blue slip” tradition, calling it an unconstitutional affront to his appointment power and alleging that his rights have “been completely taken away from me in States that have just one Democrat United States Senator.”
The president is referring to his ability to nominate judges and U.S. Attorneys, accusing the custom of essentially giving Democrats veto power over his nominees.
U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley is defending the century-old process, saying he views it as a norm worth preserving for balance and state input.
GRASSLEY REBUKES TRUMP’S PRESSURE TO ‘HAVE THE COURAGE’ TO SPEED UP NOMINATIONS
Blue slips are a long-standing tradition but are not a codified law, and constitutionally he is only allowed the power to nominate while the Senate ultimately approves or rejects that nomination.
Trump’s frustration with the Senate’s blue slip practice isn’t new. In July, Trump called the tradition a “hoax” and a “scam” used by Democrats to block his nominees and demanded that Grassley stop supporting them.
“Put simply, the president of the United States will never be permitted to appoint the person of his choice because of an ancient, and probably unconstitutional, ‘CUSTOM,’” his post said.
ALINA HABBA SAYS SHE ‘WON’T BE INTIMIDATED’ AFTER SENATE CUSTOM HINDERS US ATTORNEY NOMINATION
In his first term, Trump was able to appoint 234 federal judges, including three Supreme Court justices and 54 appellate court judges. However, this term he has only confirmed five in the first seven months.
Trump went on in his post to suggest he was willing to apply pressure and that Grassley shouldn’t acquiesce.
“The only candidates that I can get confirmed for these most important positions are, believe it or not, Democrats! Chuck Grassley should allow strong Republican candidates to ascend to these very vital and powerful roles, and tell the Democrats, as they often tell us, to go to HELL!” he wrote.

Trump’s comments come after U.S. District Judge Matthew Brann recently ruled that Alina Habba had been unlawfully serving as acting U.S. attorney for New Jersey beyond the 120-day limit allowed for temporary prosecutors and that the administration had been using an unusual maneuver to keep her in the role.
Trump’s pressure campaign could shape how many judicial vacancies he can realistically fill in the months ahead.
Pro Bowl quarterback axed as Cleveland keeps rookies on roster ahead of season start
The Cleveland Browns trimmed their roster on Sunday and cut a quarterback following the team’s final preseason game of 2025 against the Los Angeles Rams.
The Browns announced they released quarterback Tyler Huntley. The move trims the quarterback room down to four players, including Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. It may be their only move ahead of the regular season.

ESPN reported that the Browns have been “planning to keep its four other QBs … on its 53-man roster.” Not to mention, Cleveland has Deshaun Watson on injured reserve due to a torn Achilles.
“I thought it was a good finish to that preseason as a football team, just to make sure that these guys gave that type of effort. So really pleased,” Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said on Sunday, via the team’s website. “Obviously, now that the cut down starts to come over the next couple days, one of the tough parts of this business is just that.
“So, we’ll work through that over the next 48 hours and then got four good days of work with the team Monday through Thursday. Then take that break over Labor Day before we get started the following week versus Cincinnati. So, a lot of work to be done and we’re excited to get to that work.”
CARSON WENTZ CUTS DEAL WITH MINNESOTA VIKINGS
Huntley was brought into the mix after Pickett was injured. The one-time Pro Bowler played in the fourth quarter against the Rams and was 10-of-13 with 71 passing yards against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Browns already named Flacco its starting quarterback in Week 1. Pickett is expected to be available for Week 1, likely as Flacco’s backup.
Stefanski said Pickett is “getting better every day” as he battles back from a hamstring injury.
Cleveland added Flacco to the roster in the offseason and acquired Pickett from the Eagles. The team selected Gabriel and Sanders in the draft.

Sanders didn’t play well in his final preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams. He was sacked five times. Gabriel had a touchdown pass. But it appeared, at least for now, that both rookies are safe.
Cracker Barrel board member under fire for work background after restaurant ditches logo
One member of Cracker Barrel’s board of directors is catching heat over his DEI-heavy background following negative reaction to the company’s new logo and redesigned interior and revelations about its embrace of far-Left values.
Gilbert Davila, 61, joined the restaurant chain’s board in July 2020 and is also among its top individual shareholders. Conservative activist Robby Starbuck called out Davila in a video criticizing the company’s leadership, calling the recent changes the culmination of a years-long campaign to cater to the far Left and abandon the values of its middle-America customer base.
“What qualified him for this board seat?” Starbuck asks in the video. “Well, you see, he’s owned a DEI consulting and strategy firm for 15 years that focuses on pushing DEI and DEI advertising.”
CONSERVATIVE ACTIVIST SLAMS CRACKER BARREL; COMPANY LEFT REELING AFTER LOGO REDESIGN
Starbuck was referring to DMI Consulting, a firm where Davila has served as president and CEO since 2010. Davila’s biography page on Cracker Barrel’s website describes the firm as “a leading multicultural marketing, diversity & inclusion and strategy firm in the United States.”
FOX Business reached out to Cracker Barrel and Davila’s company for comment but did not hear back at the time of publication.
Consumers have criticized Cracker Barrel after it unveiled a new logo that replaced the image of a man leaning on a barrel with just the restaurant’s name in black text over a yellow barrel-shaped backdrop. The chain also redesigned the interior of its restaurants, ditching the kitschy American aesthetic and replacing it with a slick modernist motif.
But Starbuck said those cosmetic changes are just part of a lurch away from American values. In his 15-minute video, he notes the company has been active in LGBTQ pride events, and aggressively employed diversity, equity and inclusion policies in hiring.
Davila’s LinkedIn page states that he “is widely recognized… for his multicultural market knowledge and his proven track record on how to best embed a multicultural perspective into a corporation’s entire operation.”
“People like him are behind the woke advertising push that we’ve seen in recent years,” Starbuck said of Davila in the video. “And he was also one of the people responsible for DEI at Disney.”
CRACKER BARREL FACES CUSTOMER CRITICISM AFTER DITCHING ICONIC 48-YEAR-OLD LOGO FOR NEW DESIGN
Prior to his work at DMI, Davila worked at The Walt Disney Company, where he served as the vice president of global diversity and multicultural market development from 2003 to 2010.
Davila earlier held the role of vice president of multicultural management for Sears & Roebuck Company and was a marketing director for Coca-Cola USA.
Davila’s biography page also notes that he is a member of the Association of National Advertisers, co-founding and serving as a director of the group’s Alliance for Inclusive and Multicultural Marketing.

Lifeguard boots ex-Secretary of State from East Hampton beach
Former Secretary of State Antony Blinken appeared to have been kicked off a popular New York beach on Friday amid closures that were enforced due to dangerous conditions from Hurricane Erin.
Photos show Blinken — who served under the Biden administration — and a friend relaxing on beach chairs in the sand as they chatted and looked out onto the water at Georgica Beach in East Hampton.
A lifeguard and a parked patrol vehicle were then pictured next to Blinken and his pal, who were simultaneously seen gathering their belongings, including their beach chairs, shoes, bags and a towel.
Blinken — who was barefoot and sporting sunglasses — and his friend were then spotted making their way back across the sand and through the parking lot.

“The water was closed until last night as per Suffolk County,” the spokesperson told Fox News Digital on Sunday.
While the beach opened to foot traffic around midday on Friday after the tide had receded, the beach was closed prior to that, the spokesperson said.
BLINKEN SHREDS TRUMP’S IRAN STRIKES, THOUGH HE HOPES THEY ‘INFLICTED MAXIMUM DAMAGE’
“The beach was closed to foot traffic as well all Thursday and Friday until around midday,” the spokesperson told Fox News Digital. “Friday we were able to open each beach to foot traffic after the tide dropped out. The storm brought strong rip currents, storm surge waves and large debris. All our precautions were to keep patrons and staff as safe as possible!”
Coastal towns across parts of the U.S. were bracing for the wrath of Hurricane Erin this past week. New York Governor Kathy Hochul urged New Yorkers to exercise caution and to “prepare for the possibility of dangerous conditions along our beaches and coastal cities and towns.”

“New Yorkers are no strangers to hurricanes — that is why I’m urging those living in areas that may be impacted to stay safe and exercise caution until the hurricane tapers off later this week,” New York Governor Kathy Hochul said in a statement on Tuesday.
Blinken is no stranger to controversy over how he spends his leisure time. In 2021, he was vacationing in the Hamptons just hours before Taliban insurgents invaded Kabul and completed their retaking of Afghanistan 20 years after their ouster by U.S.-led forces, The Washington Post reported.

Kate Middleton’s new blonde hair might be more than just a style choice, expert says
The Princess of Wales’ new blonde locks could reflect her wish to draw attention to them after hair loss — a change that may show she’s left her cancer treatment behind, according to an expert.
Kate Middleton unveiled her lightest hair color to date when she attended a Sunday church service at Crathie Kirk in Balmoral, Scotland.
Kate, 43, was photographed riding in the passenger seat of a Range Rover, while her husband Prince William, also 43, drove with their children Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, in the back.
Her family was joined by other senior royals in Scotland, including King Charles III and Queen Camilla, Princess Anne and Sir Timothy Laurence, and Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie, for the annual service held near Balmoral Castle.
KATE MIDDLETON RETURNS TO ROYAL DUTIES DAYS AFTER REVEALING SHE IS CANCER-FREE
British psychologist Carolyn Mair, PhD, told Fox News Digital that Kate may want to feel “brighter and more energetic” and said hair is a part of our identity.
“Hair is our crowning glory and a symbol of health and femininity,” Mair said.
“Kate might want to make a fresh start by embracing a lighter outlook on life,” the psychologist added.
PRINCE WILLIAM AND KATE MIDDLETON QUIETLY BUILDING TRUSTED TEAM FOR ‘INEVITABLE TRANSITION’: EXPERT
In March 2024, the princess revealed in a video statement that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy.
By September, Kate announced she was cancer-free, describing the nine-month ordeal as “incredibly tough” for her family but one that left her with “a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life.”
“I don’t know if Princess Kate lost her hair during her treatment, but if she did, she might want to color it blonde as a means of drawing attention to it,” added Mair.
“She may be reclaiming agency and visibility, and leaving her illness behind.”
KATE MIDDLETON UNEXPECTEDLY PULLS OUT OF ROYAL ASCOT APPEARANCE
Kate’s style choices have often set trends in the U.K. and across the world, but few details are tracked as closely these days as the changing color of her hair.
The future queen’s new sun-kissed blonde tresses showed a dramatic evolution from the brunette hair that captured the public’s attention when she began her royal life and married Prince William nearly two decades ago.
In 2024, Kate appeared in warmer honey-blonde tones and by April of this year — timed with her and William’s 14th wedding anniversary — she debuted a lighter blonde shade during a royal trip to the Isle of Mull.
At Wimbledon in July, her golden highlights seemed brighter still.

Jeffries cornered on ‘hypocritical’ Democrat redistricting strategy
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-NY, was pressed on the Democratic Party’s redistricting plans to counter Texas Republicans and whether they’re “hypocritical,” because of the history of his state of New York.
After Jeffries criticized Texas Republicans for successfully passing a new congressional map, CNN’s “State of the Union” host Dana Bash asked Jeffries about whether his own state planned to counter with redistricting. Jeffries confirmed that Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul was going to explore options. Bash highlighted that Jeffries had previously fought against New York’s congressional maps being drawn by an independent commission in 2022.
“You praised New York’s state legislature for redrawing new ones,” Bash said. “Is criticizing Texas hypocritical given what you pushed for in your own state?”
HAKEEM JEFFRIES’ CALL TO FIGHT TRUMP AGENDA ‘IN THE STREETS’ SPARKS BACKLASH AS A ‘MAXINE WATERS MOMENT’
“So let’s go into the actual facts,” Jeffries responded. “The map was not drawn by the independent redistricting commission. The map was drawn by a special master who was put into place by a random right-wing judge in Steuben County. That was problem number one.”
New York’s Democratic-controlled legislature enacted new congressional maps ahead of the 2022 midterm elections, rejecting the ones created by the bipartisan Independent Redistricting Commission. The New York Court of Appeals later rejected the legislature’s maps, and a state trial court judge appointed a special master to draw maps used for 2022.
New York Democrats filed a new lawsuit claiming that the state legislature had the authority to redraw a new map for the remainder of the decade. Last year, the Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the Democratic Party, allowing them to pass new maps in 2024.
“What’s important is that in New York, the redrawn map that was actually adopted by the legislature was adopted on a bipartisan basis,” Jeffries said. “Democrats and Republicans in the Assembly voted for the map because the redraw was fair. That’s not what’s happening in Texas. In Texas, this is a racial partisan gerrymander ordered by Donald Trump as part of an effort to rig the midterm elections. And we’re not going to let it happen.”
PETE HEGSETH SAYS HAKEEM JEFFRIES’ ‘DUMB EFFING INDIVIDUALS’ JAB IS EVIDENCE OF HOW FAR DEMS ‘HAVE FALLEN’
Jeffries has supported other state Democrats’ efforts to redraw their congressional maps in retaliation for the new Texas maps. However, Bash questioned whether new maps could even be drawn for New York now.
“What can you do in New York? Is it even feasible to redraw the maps before the midterms?” Bash asked.
“Texas acted in a way to try and rig the congressional maps so they could add a couple of different seats to the Republican column,” Jeffries answered. “Understand that Republicans right now have the narrowest majority—just a three-seat majority of any party since the Great Depression—and they have no track record of accomplishment to be able to successfully run on, which is why they are running scared.”
He went on to compliment California after it “responded forcefully” to Texas Republicans without clarifying what New York plans to do.

“So is there not a plan yet in New York? Is that what I’m hearing?” Bash repeated.
“There’s a plan to respond as appropriately in New York and in other parts of the country as the circumstances dictate,” Jeffries said.
Trump blasts Baseball Hall of Fame ‘stupidity’ after golf outing with pitching legend
President Donald Trump fired a rocket of a social media post into the world on Sunday.
Trump wrote on Truth Social that Roger Clemens, the former New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox star, should be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. He also lamented Clemens being labeled as a steroid cheat despite never testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

“I played Golf yesterday with the Great Roger Clemens and his son, Kacy. Roger Clemens was easily one of the few Greatest Pitchers of All Time, winning 354 Games, the Cy Young Award seven times (A Record, by a lot!), and played in six World Series, winning two!” Trump wrote. “He was second to Nolan Ryan in most strike-outs, and he should be in the Baseball Hall of Fame, NOW! People think he took drugs, but nothing was proven. He never tested positive, and Roger, from the very beginning, totally denies it. He was just as great before those erroneous charges were leveled at him. That rumor has gone on for years, and there has been no evidence whatsoever that he was a ‘druggie.’
“This is going to be like Pete Rose where, after over 4,000 Hits, they wouldn’t put him in the Hall of Fame until I spoke to the Commissioner, and he promised to do so, but it was essentially a promise not kept because he only ‘opened it up’ when Pete died and, even then, he said that Pete Rose only got into the mix because of DEATH. We are not going to let that happen in the case of Roger Clemens. 354 Wins — Put him in NOW. He and his great family should not be forced to endure this ‘stupidity’ any longer!”
TIME RUNNING OUT ON YANKEES TO SHOW THEY’RE PLAYOFF CALIBER AFTER RED SOX BEATING
Clemens was a two-time World Series champion and 11-time All-Star as well. He had 4,672 strikeouts in his career.
He was alleged in the Mitchell Report to have used anabolic steroids during his career. He was also found not guilty on six counts of lying to Congress in 2012. He has maintained he’s never used steroids.
The allegations have largely kept him out of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
He needed 70% of the vote from baseball writers to be enshrined in Cooperstown but only received 61.6% of the vote and fell off the ballot. To eventually get into the Baseball Hall of Fame, he would need to be elected through the Today’s Game Committee.

Music producer engaged to Selena Gomez faces backlash over expensive fruit
Selena Gomez’s fiancé caused a stir online after indulging in fresh produce to the tune of $200 per box.
Benny Blanco, 37, boasted about the biggest blueberries he had ever seen in a TikTok clip recently uploaded.
The music producer unveiled a black container with individually packed blueberries to his followers, only to receive criticism for the opulent fruit.
SELENA GOMEZ WEARS NOTHING BUT SATIN LINGERIE IN SULTRY SELFIE
“This is insane. Look at this blueberry,” Blanco said in the short video before taking a bite. “Oh my God … it’s like a f—ing meal. Can you guys even see the scale of this?”
He added, “They’re f—ing huge. They’re delicious. I think the box is like, $200. That’s crazy.”
Fans and followers were quick to comment on the outrageous gift, and criticized Blanco for freely indulging.
“Sir we’re not rich enough to relate to this,” one fan wrote, while another added, “Meantime I can’t afford regular fruit.”
“This is rich rich and we’re all poor poor,” one user commented.
“$200 is 2 weeks worth of groceries for me and my family… this is nuts,” a TikTok user responded before one woman wrote, “I’m sorry.. you said $200??!!! Mr. Blanco.. I don’t have that money right now as I am still waiting for my maternity leave check to come in and i’ve been waiting for a month!!! The struggle is real out here!”
“Benny. There are literally people dying,” another fan wrote.

The musician, whose full name is Benjamin Joseph Levin, proposed to Gomez in December after dating for nearly one year.
While Selena’s coined Benny her “hubby” online, the couple hasn’t planned their wedding yet due to demanding schedules.
“That’s why we both need to chill. We’ve both been working so much,” Blanco told Jake Shane on the Therapuss podcast. “We got engaged, and then we were filming music videos for our album. Then it’s holidays. Then right after the holidays, we had to start all the promo for our stuff, do that. Then she left to film her show ‘Only Murders’ and then I met her, then we hung out for a week, and then right after that, it’s promo.”

He added, “And then I’m writing another book, so then I had to write a book, and then she came back for one day here. I think this summer we’re going to sit down and be like, ‘Okay, what are we doing, hun?’”
The two have been romantically paired since December 2023 but were first linked when they worked together in 2019 on the song “I Can’t Get Enough.”
Gomez also said on the podcast that she “couldn’t be more excited” about planning their wedding.
“It’s just there’s so much kind of happening in the moment with [him] working on some projects that he has to wrap up. And we just have things we want to finish in our own personal endeavors before we get into all the nitty-gritty.”
