The mother of the shooter who opened fire on a Minneapolis Catholic church Mass Wednesday is not cooperating with investigators as they try to determine what led to the tragic events that left two children dead and 18 others injured, including 15 children.

Fox News learned the shooter’s mother, Mary Grace Westman, has retained criminal defense attorney Ryan Garry.

When asked why the mother obtained a criminal attorney, Garry told Fox, “She is completely distraught about the situation and has no culpability but is seeking an attorney to deal with calls like this.”

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said dozens of interviews have been conducted with the shooter’s relatives, friends and associates and those who witnessed the carnage unfold at Annunciation Catholic Church.

GRIEVING FATHER CALLS MINNEAPOLIS SHOOTER A ‘COWARD’ WHO TOOK LIFE OF HIS 8-YEAR-OLD SON FLETCHER DURING MASS

“I know we have not been successful in talking to the shooter’s mother, yet, at this time,” O’Hara said during a news conference Thursday. “But there continue to be efforts made to get that done.”

Court documents show the shooter’s mother applied for her son to legally change his name, writing in 2019, “minor identifies as female and wants her name to reflect the identification.”

It is not clear why the shooter’s mother is not cooperating with investigators.

When asked by a reporter on Thursday if investigators had been in touch with the shooter’s father, O’Hara initially said he could not confirm that.

But the chief briefly had a side conversation with Drew Evans, the superintendent of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, who said his investigators had been in touch with the father.

Still, investigators have not yet said whether the shooter, identified as 23-year-old Robin Westman, lived with his mother or father, noting there are three addresses associated with the individual.

“I can’t verify right now which residence he was staying at immediately prior to the shooting, but that’s obviously something that will come with the investigation as it continues,” O’Hara said.

The chief noted that the shooter attended Mass at the church while attending the school attached to the place of worship.

“The shooter’s mother was an employee of the parish previously for some time,” O’Hara said. “So, obviously there is a connection between the shooter and this particular parish.”

At around 8:30 a.m., the suspect fired dozens of rounds into the church, shattering stained-glass and pew-side windows as terrified students and parishioners ducked for cover.

Authorities have not yet released a motive, though they have uncovered a manifesto the shooter had timed to be released on YouTube. The video has since been taken down and is under investigation.

The manifesto, police added, appeared to show Westman at the scene and included disturbing writings.

FBI Director Kash Patel said Thursday the agency’s investigation into the “barbaric” attack suggests the attack was an act of domestic terrorism “motivated by a hate-filled ideology.”

He noted that the manifesto and writings on firearms displayed anti-Catholic and anti-religious references.

Specifically, the shooter expressed hatred and violence toward Jewish people and wrote things like “Israel must fall” and “Free Palestine” and used explicit language related to the Holocaust, Patel said.

Former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Devon Walker claimed Monday the show was sometimes “toxic as hell” in his farewell letter on Instagram.

Walker announced he was leaving the long-running NBC sketch comedy show with an Instagram post captioned, “me and baby broke up,” alongside a photo of himself backstage on the show.

In another photo, he shared a note titled, “wait…did he quit or did he get fired,” detailing his thoughts on leaving the show without offering a clear answer.

“To me, jobs in this industry feel like a bunch of little marriages,” Walker wrote. “Some of ’em last for a long time if we’re lucky, but most of them are fleeting. Permanent until they’re not. That’s the deal. You know what it is…when you sign up.”

Walker continued, saying that while the show was “really cool,” it was also toxic with a level of “dysfunction.”

“Me and the show did three years together, and sometimes it was really cool. Sometimes it was toxic as hell. But…we made the most of what it was, even amidst all of the dysfunction. We made a f—ed up lil family,” he wrote.

“Anyway, I’m bout to go to Japan. When I get back I’m tryna be in a prestige drama. Ideally something with Julianne Moore. Hope y’all staying hydrated and getting some money today.”

LORNE MICHAELS SAYS FALLON, MEYERS ARE SAFE AT NBC FOLLOWING COLBERT CANCELLATION

Walker joined the show in 2022 as a featured player before being promoted to the main cast in 2024. His exit on Monday marked the first of several major cast changes ahead of Season 51.

On Wednesday, Emil Wakim, who joined the show just one season ago, announced on Instagram he would not be returning, calling the news a “gut punch.”

On Thursday, several outlets reported that Michael Longfellow, who joined the show with Walker in 2022, would also be leaving. He later confirmed it on Instagram.

Heidi Gardner, the longest-running female member of the current cast, will also reportedly be leaving after eight seasons.

The casting changes come one week after series creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels revealed plans to “shake things up” on the show under “pressure to reinvent this season.”

“It’ll be announced in a week or so,” Michaels said Friday.

Video shows violent confrontation on flight as passengers scream for police

Video of a wild bust-up on an American Airlines flight shows two men battling it out in the aisle after one allegedly grabbed a woman’s neck while passengers disembarked.

The video, obtained by TMZ, caught the confrontation on American Airlines Flight 2249 as the plane arrived in Miami Monday.

In the clip, a man appears to aggressively grab a woman in the aisle of the plane and push her back before another male passenger rushes forward to intervene.

A “safety alert” announcement can be heard in the background.

The situation spirals as the man who had allegedly held the woman moves down the aisle. He shoves the intervening passenger into a row of seats, shouting, “Don’t you grab me like that

Other passengers can be heard screaming in disbelief and anger.

“What the f— are you doin’?” one woman shouted, demanding someone arrest the man.

Another passenger pleaded, “We’re trying to pass. Somebody needs to get this man. Call the police.”

A flight attendant can also be heard trying to restore order, asking travelers to clear the aisle so passengers in the back can make their connecting flights.

FBI INVESTIGATING MIDAIR BRAWL THAT FORCED BREEZE AIRWAYS FLIGHT TO DIVERT

Business Insider reported earlier this year that nearly 13,000 “unruly passenger incidents” have been reported to the Federal Aviation Administration by flight attendants since 2021.

“Air travel can often bring out people’s worst tendencies thanks to how much of the experience is out of their control,” the report states.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed to TMZ that deputies responded to a report of battery after the incident.

However, no arrests were made. It is unclear what the passengers were arguing about during the incident.

The Rhode Island assistant attorney general whose arrest went viral after telling police officers they would “regret” taking her to jail has learned her punishment for the embarrassing scene.

Special Assistant Attorney General Devon Flanagan, 34, who was arrested for willful trespass at the Clarke Cooke House restaurant in Newport, Rhode Island on Aug. 14, has been placed on six months of unpaid leave.

“On Aug. 14, Special Assistant Attorney General Devon Flanagan mistreated the Newport Police Department and embarrassed herself, the Office, and frankly me,” Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha said, according to the Boston Globe. “We hold our attorneys to the highest personal and professional standards, and Ms. Flanagan plainly did not meet those standards here.”

RHODE ISLAND PROSECUTOR IN VIRAL ARREST VIDEO PLACED ON UNPAID LEAVE, JOB FUTURE UNCLEAR

Police were called to the restaurant just before 10 p.m. after an intoxicated woman, Flanagan’s friend, refused to leave the premises.

During the chaotic encounter with police that was captured on a body-worn camera, Flanagan repeatedly pestered officers to turn their cameras off, insisting that, “Protocol is that you turn it off if a citizen requests to turn it off.”

“I’m an AG! I’m an AG!” Flanagan told police as they tried to detain her for failing to comply.

“You’re going to regret this. You’re going to regret it. I’m an A—,” Flanagan said as she was escorted to the back of a police car and the door was shut.

“I sincerely hope she takes this time to reflect on the seriousness of her conduct and makes corrective changes in her life,” Neronha said in the statement. “She has a long road ahead of her, but I believe that in the long run, our worst moments can inspire us to become better people.”

Flanagan was arraigned Wednesday and pleaded no contest, according to Boston.com. She reportedly received a six-month filing, which means that after six months the case could be dismissed.

Her attorney, Kevin Hagan, declined to comment.

Neronha also clarified that Flanagan’s assertion that police must turn off their cameras at the direction of citizens is false.

“She’s humiliated herself,” Neronha told WPRO previously. “Regardless of what happens vis-a-vis her employment with us, she’s going to have a long time coming back from this. It’s just really unfortunate.”

Emilie Kiser broke her three-month-long silence on the death of her 3-year-old son, Trigg, who drowned in the family pool at her Arizona home in May.

Kiser, a 26-year-old TikTok creator with millions of followers, issued her first emotional statement on social media on Thursday, describing her grief as “impossible to put into words.”

The case has drawn national attention given Kiser’s public platform as a “mom influencer” with more than 4 million TikTok followers.

Kiser’s message provided the first glimpse into how her family is coping.

MISSING NEW ORLEANS BOY, 12, DIED AFTER ALLIGATOR ATTACK, DROWNING: AUTHORITIES

On May 12, Trigg was playing in the backyard of the Kiser family’s Chandler home when he tripped on an inflatable chair and fell into the pool, according to police.

Surveillance video confirmed the fall was accidental. The boy remained submerged for several minutes before being pulled out. Kiser was not home at the time of the incident. The boy’s father, Brady Kiser, was watching Trigg and the couple’s newborn son. He told police he was distracted by the baby inside when Trigg fell in.

First responders performed CPR and rushed Trigg to the hospital, where he remained on life support for nearly a week. He died six days later on May 18.

Calling Trigg both her “baby and best friend,” Emilie Kiser accepted accountability for his death as his mother. She expressed deep regret, writing: “One of the hardest lessons I carry is that a permanent pool fence could have saved his life, and it is something I will never overlook again.”

911 CALLS, POLICE REPORT DETAILS DARK TIMELINE TO ARIZONA GIRL’S TRAGIC DEATH

Emilie Kiser also said she will be drawing stricter boundaries online to protect her family’s privacy. “I now have seen through this tragedy how relationships online lack boundaries, especially in protecting children’s privacy. Moving forward, I will be establishing more boundaries with what I share online,” she wrote.

She thanked her family and supporters, writing “To our family: we would not be getting through this without you. The support you have given us, the unconditional love, and the way you show up is something we will never be able to repay or thank you enough for.” She added: “To my audience and the people who have supported us: I cannot thank you enough for the kind messages I have received, for the outpouring of love for our family, and for the support you have brought to me in these extremely tough times.”

The Chandler Police Department recommended a Class 4 felony charge of child abuse against Brady Kiser, but prosecutors determined the evidence did not meet the threshold for a “reasonable likelihood of conviction.”

Emilie Kiser has filed a lawsuit seeking to block the release of investigative records tied to Trigg’s death.

Child drownings remain a leading cause of accidental death in Arizona for children under the age of five.

Cowboys owner reveals Micah Parsons rejected record offer before blockbuster trade

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones sat in front of reporters Thursday addressing the stunning Micah Parsons trade to the Green Bay Packers.

The main question on everyone’s mind was why make the trade?

“This gives us a chance to be a better team than we’ve had the last several years,” Jones said with his son, CEO and director of player personnel Stephen Jones, sitting to his right.

“We did think it was in the best interest of our organization, not only the future, but right now in this season as well.”

It’s hard for Cowboys fans to fathom the deal was made to benefit the team’s win total in 2025 and the future, but Jones offered some specifics to the contrary, starting with the acquisition of Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark as part of the deal.

“We’ve gained a Pro Bowl player in an area that we had big concerns in — in the inside of our defense,” Jones said.

“The facts are we need to stop the run. We haven’t been able to stop the run for several years.”

COWBOYS OWNER BLAMES MICAH PARSONS’ AGENT FOR STALLED CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS: ‘TOLD US TO STICK IT UP OUR A–’

Jones added trade talks for Parsons went on throughout the spring, though he said he offered Parsons a deal in April. He has previously said he offered Parsons the highest contract for a non-quarterback in NFL history, and he doubled down Thursday night that he offered him more guaranteed money than the reported $136 million he got in the four-year, $188 million Packers extension he received after being traded.

“I will say this: It was important that we did get, if we could get it, the kind of interest that we got in making a trade for Micah,” Jones said. “He was an asset we got four good years out of. But when you’re talking about making the contract that he got and for the future, that’s quite a commitment. None of that counts about what he did the first four years. It goes against what he can do for you in the future.”

The Cowboys also received the Packers’ 2026 and 2027 first-round picks, which Jones said he wouldn’t rule out trading for another established player.

“Not only do we immediately get a player, but those draft picks could get us … I’m talking top Pro Bowl-type players — could. I’m not necessarily going to say you’ll get those players. You gotta draft them or acquire them,” Jones explained.

“But they could get us as few as three or as many as five outstanding players. Now, not only do they contribute to a game that needs a lot of players on the field, but they also give you better odds that a high percentage of those are going to be available.”

Jones said that it was a consensus decision, both in the front office and by the coaching staff, to make the trade with the Packers. He added that it was still up in the air Thursday morning, as Clark went to Packers practice as usual.

Jones was also asked about an NFL Network report that said Parsons returned to the Cowboys out of “empathy” when the trade interest was leaked earlier this week. Parsons claims he was told by the team to “play on the 5th year or leave.”

“It was not in any way out of the order or anything like that,” Jones replied when asked about that report. “I think I’ve read where they said I replied, ‘We’re playing under the contract as it exists right now. Get ready to play Philadelphia.’ Correct, that was correct.”

With the trade finalized, the Cowboys are looking toward their future while also being of the belief they can win right now, starting with Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles

“I want to be sure that our fans understand I think a lot of Micah, and I wish him so much success,” Jones said. “I don’t want him to have success when he plays the Cowboys as much as I do want him to have overall success. Micah Parsons did an outstanding job for us for four years.

“There’s no question that I could have signed him in April. We all know that, to have agreements, all parties have to agree. This was by design. I did make Micah an offer. It wasn’t acceptable, and I honored the fact that it wasn’t done in the way he wanted to do it through an agent.

“So, he was made an offer. … There’s not an ounce of vindictiveness. There’s no bad feelings on my part on the fact that we didn’t come together on an agreement.”

Cracker Barrel co-founder slams restaurant chain’s CEO over logo flop

Cracker Barrel’s logo rebranding fiasco has ignited nationwide backlash and now one of the chain’s original founders is speaking out.

At 93 years old, co-founder Tommy Lowe told WTVF NewsChannel 5 in Nashville that the company’s leadership is steering the brand off course.

In the interview, Lowe said the $700 million rebrand was just “throwing money out on the street.”

“Oh, that’s crazy,” said Lowe. “That’s … bland nothing.”

CRACKER BARREL SCRAPS NEW LOGO DESIGN, KEEPS ‘OLD TIMER’ AFTER LISTENING TO CUSTOMERS

Calling the new logo “pitiful,” Lowe warned executives to “keep it country” if they want to survive.

The Lebanon, Tennessee–based chain rolled out the redesign last week as part of a $700 million makeover under CEO Julie Masino. Instead of winning over customers, the rollout sparked widespread ridicule, a sharp dip in Cracker Barrel’s stock price and even pushback from President Donald Trump.

By Tuesday, the company reversed course and restored its original logo. In a candid admission to FOX Business, Cracker Barrel said it “could’ve done a better job” in sharing what the business is about and emphasized that the beloved elements of the chain, from rocking chairs to “Uncle Herschel,” “aren’t going anywhere.”

“Congratulations ‘Cracker Barrel’ on changing your logo back to what it was,” President Trump wrote on Truth Social Tuesday. “All of your fans very much appreciate it. Good luck into the future. Make lots of money and, most importantly, make your customers happy again!”

CRACKER BARREL CUSTOMERS IN THE COMPANY’S HOMETOWN WEIGH IN ON LOGO: ‘IF SOMETHING’S NOT BROKE, DON’T FIX IT’

Lowe’s critique carries historic weight. Alongside the late Dan Evins, he helped open the first Cracker Barrel in 1969 off Interstate 40 in Wilson County, Tennessee, with the idea of a roadside restaurant and country store.

“It was always a country store for country people,” Lowe said, adding that current leadership “just doesn’t understand.”

He singled out new CEO Masino, a former Taco Bell executive, questioning her grasp of the brand’s roots.

“What’s Taco Bell know about country food?” he wondered.

For Lowe, authenticity is the company’s only winning recipe.

Recalling advice from country star David “Stringbean” Akeman during Cracker Barrel’s early days, Lowe said, “It looks good, but just keep it country. If they don’t, it ain’t gonna work.”

VP tells Democrats to ‘laugh at themselves’ as Newsom attempts to copy Trump’s style

Vice President JD Vance criticized California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s recent attempts to imitate President Donald Trump in a sit-down with Fox News host Will Cain, arguing Newsom can’t mimic the “king.”

“You can’t mimic the master; you ought to just go and be yourself. And I think the people would like that a lot more than a cheap imitation of the president of the United States,” Vance said.

These comments followed a series of X posts from Newsom’s press office in August that went viral. The posts appeared to copy Trump’s social media writing style, using all caps, nicknaming political opponents and signing off with his initials.

TRUMP-TROLLING GAVIN NEWSOM SUGGESTS ‘COIN’ IS COMING TO ONLINE STORE: ‘TRUMP CORRUPTION COIN’

One post said, “WOW! TOMORROW HISTORY WILL BE MADE. KaroLYIN LEAVITT WILL HAVE NO ANSWERS FOR THE SUPPOSED “FAKE MEDIA” ABOUT CALIFORNIA’S BEAUTIFUL MAPS. PEOPLE ARE SAYING THEY ARE THE GREATEST MAPS EVER CREATED — EVEN BETTER THAN CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS’. DONALD “THE FAILURE” TRUMP BE WARNED, TOMORROW MAY BE THE WORST DAY OF YOUR LIFE. ALL BECAUSE YOU “MISSED THE DEADLINE.” LIBERATION DAY FOR AMERICA!!! — GCN”

Cain pointed out Newsom’s strategy may be resonating with some blue voters, saying, “His polling numbers have gone way up since he started mimicking President Trump on social media.”

A Morning Consult survey reports that Newsom’s support among Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents jumped eight points from June to the end of August.

Vance, however, suggested the former San Francisco mayor’s inauthenticity is not what voters want.

“When I see Gavin Newsom trying to act like Donald Trump, that’s the opposite of authenticity. He’s not trying to be Gavin Newsom — whoever that is. He’s trying to be a fake carbon copy of Donald Trump,” he said. “And it just doesn’t work.”

NEWSOM’S OFFICE CONTINUES TO MOCK TRUMP USING HIS SOCIAL MEDIA WRITING STYLE: ‘TINY HANDS’

The vice president also weighed in on New York City Democratic mayoral candidate, Zohran Mamdani, saying, “I don’t know the guy, but my sense is he’s had a very good life in this country. It would be nice to occasionally show a sense of gratitude instead of just attacking the United States or all its problems.”

The former Ohio senator contrasted those critiques with what he described as Trump’s influence on the political world, urging Democrats to take note.

“The lesson of President Trump in American politics is you’ve got to be authentic to yourself,” Vance advised.

“Democrats, the one thing they should learn from President Trump is to laugh at themselves a little bit,” he added. “They don’t have to be so serious. They don’t have to get offended at everything. Sometimes, it’s actually a good thing to have a sense of humor about our political process.”

Reflecting on his late grandmother, affectionately dubbed “Mamaw,” Vance said she would be deeply out of step with the state of today’s Democratic Party.

“I think Mamaw would say ‘this is crazy.’ I think she would say the modern Democratic Party doesn’t represent her at all,” he said.

Federal officials give Denver schools 10 days to end all-gender bathroom access

The U.S. Department of Education said on Thursday that it found Denver Public Schools violated Title IX, which prohibits sex-based discrimination in education, by establishing all-gender bathrooms and allowing students to use bathrooms that match their gender identity rather than their biological sex.

The department’s Office for Civil Rights opened an investigation in January, shortly after President Donald Trump returned to the White House, into Denver’s East High School after the school district converted a girl’s bathroom into an all-gender restroom while leaving another bathroom on the same floor just for boys.

The district has said the change was made after a student-led process and that the bathroom had 12-foot-tall partitions around the toilets for privacy and security.

TRUMP ADMINISTRATION THREATENS TO PULL FEDERAL FUNDS FROM VIRGINIA SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN GENDER POLICY DISPUTE

A second all-gender restroom was later on the same floor, which the district said was done to address concerns of unfairness. The district said at the time that students would also continue to have access to gender-specific bathrooms and single-stall, all-gender restrooms.

The federal government said it sent the district a proposed resolution that includes four conditions to which it must agree within the next 10 days to resolve the matter and avoid facing the risk of “imminent enforcement action.”

“Denver Public Schools violated Title IX and its implementing regulations by converting a sex-segregated restroom designated for girls in East High School to an ‘all-gender’ facility and by allowing students to use the high school’s intimate facilities on the basis of their ‘gender identity’ rather than their biological sex,” Craig Trainor, the acting assistant secretary of the department’s Office for Civil Rights, said in a statement.

GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY VIOLATED TITLE VI WITH ‘UNLAWFUL DEI POLICIES,’ EDUCATION DEPARTMENT SAYS

“As a result, the District is creating a hostile environment for its students by endangering their safety, privacy, and dignity while denying them access to equal educational activities and opportunities,” he continued. “Denver is free to endorse a self-defeating gender ideology, but it is not free to accept federal taxpayer funds and harm its students in violation of Title IX. The Trump Administration will work relentlessly to hold accountable school districts that harbor the ideological fanatics and policies that sully students’ educational experience with sex discrimination.”

The proposed resolution would require the district to redesignate all-gender bathrooms back to sex-designated multi-stall restrooms, scrap any policies or guidance allowing students to access bathrooms based on gender identity rather than biological sex and adopt “biology-based definitions” for the words “male” and “female” in all policies and practices related to Title IX.

The district must also issue a memorandum to its schools affirming that they must provide access to bathrooms that “protect the privacy, dignity and safety of students and are comparably accessible to each sex.” It is also required to state that Title IX compliance ensures girls may not be discriminated against in any education program or activity.

Fox News Digital reached out to Denver Public Schools for comment.

Under the Trump administration, federal officials have sought to target school districts for policies allowing students to use bathrooms or participate on sports teams that correspond with their gender identity.

The president signed an executive order in February to block transgender girls from participating on sports teams that do not match their biological sex.

Earlier this week, House Republicans introduced legislation to prohibit transgender girls from bathrooms or sports teams or restrooms that align with their gender identity and not their biological sex.
