Aging actress admits ‘it’s close to the end’ as she looks back on her iconic career
Kim Novak reflected on aging and her decision to turn her back on Hollywood in an attempt to reclaim her story.
“It’s not easy getting old,” Novak, 92, said in the upcoming documentary “Kim Novak’s Vertigo,” according to People magazine. “I’m feeling it’s close to the end.”
“I’ve been feeling the need to free something….” the beginning of the film began.
Novak famously chose to leave Hollywood at what many considered would have been the peak of her career. “When I left, I was at the top of my game,” she said in the documentary about her exit from the industry in 1966.
KIM NOVAK EXPLAINS WHY SHE LEFT HOLLYWOOD: ‘I FELT LIKE I WAS LOSING MYSELF’
“Hollywood swallowed people whole,” Novak said, referencing Marilyn Monroe’s death. The actress died at 36 and her death was ruled a possible suicide by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. “I didn’t want that to happen to me,” Novak noted.
The “Picnic” star turned her back on Hollywood after her Bel Air home was destroyed in a mudslide. She chose a cliff dwelling in Big Sur to become her place to start over, where she focused on other artistic skills.
“My survival mode was to paint,” Novak said.

Novak opened up about how she felt waking up on her first morning after leaving Hollywood in a 2021 interview with Fox News Digital.
“Liberated. Totally liberated,” she recalled. “I thought, ‘Wow, I’m going to live my dream and not for someone else.’ It was wonderful. My cat was purring, the birds were singing, the waves were crashing – we were all just content.”
“The first thing I did when I woke up was to get all my art equipment, set up my easel and look out the window,” Novak added. “I thought to myself, ‘This is paradise.’ Hollywood offers money and prestige, but nothing ever compares to that feeling I felt that morning.”

“This is not a Hollywood-y documentary of famous names, this is about Kim, the person,” Novak’s manager, Sue Cameron, said. “She turned down a million dollars to write her autobiography 25 years ago. Because they wanted all the Hollywood dirt, and she says, ‘No, that’s not who I am, I won’t do it.’”
“She’s the last living golden goddess of film,” Cameron said. “And what’s more important is in this documentary, we show her as the true fighter she was for women, even way back in the ’50s, when they tried to force her to wear certain makeup, and she would go wipe it off. She was the very first woman to have her own production company.”
Noem’s DHS accuses media outlet of peddling ‘sob stories’ of criminal illegal aliens
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has blasted The New York Times for its reporting on a convicted Jamaican murderer who was deported by the Trump administration in July.
The Times ran its headline as,The Man Who’d Served His Time In U.S. Is Deported to an African Prison. The first sentence of the article explained how Orville Etoria had shot and killed a man in Brooklyn nearly 30 years ago.
“DISGRACEFUL AND DISGUSTING! The failing @NYTimes is peddling another disgusting sob story for a criminal illegal alien. Orville Etoria was convicted of MURDER. It is absolutely revolting that the New York Times is actively defending convicted murderers over American citizens. DHS will continue enforcing the law at full speed—without apology,” DHS responded in a post on X on Monday, accusing the publication of downplaying the seriousness of Etoria’s horrific 1996 crime.
KRISTI NOEM REBUKES NYC MAYORAL CANDIDATE ZOHRAN MAMDANI OVER ICE ‘ABDUCTION’ CLAIMS
Etoria was sentenced to 25 years to life and given a deportation order in 2009.
As well as murder, DHS has said Etoria’s criminal history included armed robbery, possession of a weapon, and forcible theft.
During his sentence at Sing Sing Correctional Facility in New York, Etoria earned a bachelor’s degree via the Hudson Link program at Mercy College and graduated in 2018. He also pursued a master’s in divinity.
After Etoria was released in 2021, the Biden administration allowed him to remain in the U.S. so long as he checked in with ICE and despite the standing deportation order.
ICE RAMPS UP ARRESTS OF CONVICTED CRIMINALS AS RIOTS RAGE IN BLUE CITY: ‘YOU WILL NOT STOP US’
This summer, the Trump administration ordered Etoria to be deported to Eswatini, a small southern African country where he’s not a citizen.
In July, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced the deportation of five deportees from Vietnam, Laos, Cuba and Yemen, including Etoria.
“A safe third country deportation flight to Eswatini in Southern Africa has landed. This flight took individuals so uniquely barbaric that their home countries refused to take them back,” DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin wrote on X at the time.
“These depraved monsters have been terrorizing American communities,” she continued, adding that they are now “off of American soil,” she added.
DHS said Jamaica and other countries refused to accept Eswatini, though Jamaican officials have since disputed that claim.

“Orville Etoria, an illegal alien from Jamaica, is a convicted MURDERER… Sixteen years later this MURDERER is off our streets and OUT of our country. President Trump and Secretary Noem are using every tool available to get criminal illegal aliens out of American communities and out of our country,” DHS said in a statement to Fox News Digital.
Etoria remains in Africa alongside the four others.
Muhammed Ali rival who went 15 rounds in thrilling bout dies after dementia battle
Joe Bugner, a former heavyweight boxer who fought Muhammad Ali twice in his career, has died.
Bugner was 75 years old.
“It is with great sadness that the Former British, European Commonwealth Heavyweight Champion and World Championship contender Joe Bugner has passed away at his care home in Brisbane, Australia,” the British Boxing Board of Control confirmed on Monday.

Bugner was a talented boxer, but he wasn’t in the good graces of those in his native Britain after sending Henry Cooper, a boxing legend in the commonwealth, into retirement after beating him in 1971. The victory gave him the British, Commonwealth and European heavyweight titles. Bugner didn’t hold on to those belts after losing them later in 1971.

He went on to face off against Ali for the first time in 1973 when they entered the ring in a non-title fight in Las Vegas. Bugner was able to go the distance against the boxing icon, though Ali would get the win by points.
Just five months later, Bugner was in the ring against the legendary Joe Frazier, this time on home soil at Earl’s Court in London. Like the fight against Ali, Bugner was able to go the distance, but he came up short as Frazier won by points.
The most thrilling fight, though, came between Bugner and Ali in Kuala Lumpur in 1975, their second time fighting each other. In front of a packed-out crowd, Bugner and Ali went a full 15 rounds on the canvas, though the former came out as the loser by points once more.
Bugner fought for 32 years, ending his career in 1999 before relocating to Australia. He spent the final years of his life in an assisted living home after being diagnosed with dementia.
Bugner went 69-14 over his 83 fights, 41 of which ended inside the distance.

Wright, 59, told The Times that she plans to rent a home on the English seaside with her family and dogs.
“It’s liberating to be done,” she said. “Be done with searching, looking and getting 60 percent of what you wanted.”

Nestlé installs new chief executive after workplace scandal forces leadership exit
Nestlé S.A., based in Switzerland, has appointed a new CEO after its former leader was ousted over an inappropriate workplace relationship less than a year into the role.
The company said Laurent Freixe was removed following an investigation into a romantic relationship with a direct subordinate that violated Nestlé’s Code of Business Conduct. Freixe is leaving the company without an exit package.
Chairman Paul Bulcke and Lead Independent Director Pablo Isla oversaw the investigation.
“This was a necessary decision. Nestlé’s values and governance are strong foundations of our company,” Bulcke said. “I thank Laurent for his years of service at Nestlé.”

In the same statement, Bulcke said Philipp Navratil would take over as CEO.
“Philipp is recognized for his impressive track record of achieving results in challenging environments,” Bulcke said. “Renowned for his dynamic presence, he inspires teams and leads with a collaborative, inclusive management style.
“The Board is confident that he will drive our growth plans forward and accelerate efficiency efforts,” he added. “We are not changing course on strategy, and we will not lose pace on performance.”

Navratil began his career at Nestlé in 2001 as an auditor for the company behind brands like Nespresso, Perrier, San Pellegrino and Gerber.
He later held several roles in Central America, including Country Manager for Nestlé Honduras in 2009.
Four years later, he led Nestlé’s coffee and beverage business in Mexico, bolstering the Nescafé brand.

Former Obama advisor concedes activism at work has become ‘ridiculous’
Former Obama advisor Van Jones has had it with employees bringing their politics to work, saying it has gotten “ridiculous” and it is time to “move on.”
Multiple companies have turned against activism in the workplace, a remarkable shift from the early 2020s when DEI, social responsibility and corporate-sponsored activism were ubiquitous.
“For some companies, the new message to employees is ‘Check your politics and your activism at the door when you come to work,’” CNN host Abby Phillip told her panel Saturday. “CEOs are making one thing clear, ‘The office is not the public square,’ and they‘re probably not wrong about that.”

Phillip added that politics has seeped into nearly every corner of society in recent years, “And it‘s not to say that you can‘t have free speech in your life, but employers are just like, ‘Do your job and don‘t do anything else.’”
Jones, who has had a lengthy history of progressive activism himself, agreed. While once sympathetic to the mindset of such activists, he said their time has passed.
“This is not going to make me popular, but I’m not mad [about the change], because it got ridiculous,” he said. “I mean, I‘m an employer and at a certain point, your Slack channel just turns into Vietnam every other day because something happened that had nothing to do with the workplace.”
He noted the headache of having to bring in counselors for such moments of crisis, saying, “This is not camp, guys, we’re trying to make money.”

“So, I enjoyed the moment, for a while, where we were having our reckonings about everything. We done wrecked, okay?” he said, sparking laughter. “We went from reckoning to wrecked. We need to move on.”
“I take a similar approach,” CNN global affairs commentator Sabrina Singh replied. “I think what you do in your own free time, whether you want to participate in political activism or whatever it is, whatever cause you take up, I think you have to do that on your own time.”
Phillip recalled working on a book about activist Jesse Jackson, noting how he once pressured companies from the outside to adopt more progressive policies. Years later, she said, public perception shifted after a flood of corporate PR statements — so much so that “people may have gotten fooled that these corporations were doing anything other than what they needed to do to survive.”

Republican strategist Lance Trover noted the historic moment of bipartisan agreement on the show.
“You need to mark this moment in this show down,” he said. “This may be where we all agree here at this table, here tonight. I mean, yeah, ‘Welcome to the real world, Gen-Z wokesters.’ I don‘t know what to tell you.”

Blanco expanded a little bit, adding, “It was the sickest surprise that she had no idea about, and it couldn’t have come at a better time because I was starting to f— up. Khanna predicts Americans will be ‘outraged’ after hearing from Epstein victims
MANCHESTER, N.H. – With Congress back in session this week, Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna of California and Republican Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky are reigniting their push for the Justice Department to release files in the Jeffrey Epstein case.
Khanna says that “people are going to be outraged” after seeing a news conference he and Massie are holding on Wednesday with 10 victims of the late convicted sex offender.
The news conference is part of the effort by Khanna and Massie to pass through the House a bill requiring the Justice Department to release its files on the Epstein case.
“These victims haven’t spoken for decades. When Epstein got that lenient plea deal, no one talked to the victims or their lawyers,” Khanna said Monday in a Fox News Digital interview.
A NEXT STEP IN THE JEFFREY EPSTEIN INVESTIGATION INVOLVES HIS ‘BIRTHDAY BOOK’
“My belief is, when the American people actually hear the victims for the first time, they are going to sympathize, their hearts are going to be broken, and all the victims are saying is for closure,” he predicted.
EPSTEIN ESTATE HIT WITH NEW HOUSE SUBPOENA FOR ‘CLIENT LIST,’ CALL LOGS
Khanna argued that “there are a lot of other rich, powerful men, politicians, business leaders, who have committed abuse and who have not been held accountable. That’s what we’re going to hear on Sept. 3, and people are going to be outraged, and I don’t see how, after that, the House can’t vote for the release of these files.”
The White House’s handling of the Epstein case sparked outcry earlier this summer, after the Justice Department and the FBI appeared to close the book on their investigation after announcing they had uncovered no evidence of an Epstein client list.
The move infuriated many of President Donald Trump’s MAGA supporters and allies – who had anticipated blockbuster revelations – with some calling for Attorney General Pam Bondi to be fired.
And the president aggravated some in MAGA world a month ago by calling the Epstein case a Democratic hoax and arguing that “PAST supporters” had “bought into this bullsh–.”
TRUMP DOJ HANDING EPSTEIN DOCUMENTS TO HOUSE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE ON FRIDAY AS SUBPOENA DEADLINE LOOMS
Khanna and Massie are optimistic they have the votes.
“I’m confident we’re going to get the 218 votes for the discharge petition,” Khanna told Fox News Digital, as he was interviewed ahead of addressing the New Hampshire AFL-CIO’s annual Labor Day breakfast.
“We’ve got 212 Democrats and 12 Republicans, including Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert. Look, this is not about Donald Trump, and it’s not partisan. This is about justice for the victims of rich and powerful men who abused underage girls.”
And he emphasized that “in this country, people want transparency. They want accountability. I’m confident we’re going to get the 218 votes for the discharge petition.”

In the ensuing years, there has been intense speculation and theories on who else may have been involved in the sex ring the financier allegedly operated.
