Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a deadly warning to drug traffickers Wednesday as he shared details about a U.S. military strike that destroyed a Venezuelan drug boat in the Caribbean, killing 11 suspected Tren de Aragua narco-terrorists.

“It’s a new day. It’s a different day, and… this is an activity the United States is not going to tolerate in our hemisphere,” Hegseth said on “Fox & Friends.”

Venezuela’s Minister of Communication and Information Freddy Nanez dismissed video of the attack as AI-generated, an accusation Hegseth dismissed.

“I can tell you that was definitely not artificial intelligence. I watched it live,” he said.

“We knew exactly who was in that boat. We know exactly what they were doing, and we knew exactly who they represented.”

Hegseth described the strike as a direct hit against a “narco-terrorist organization” that aims to “poison” the U.S. with illicit drugs.

President Trump shared footage of the fiery explosion, declaring that the strike should serve as notice to anyone attempting to traffic narcotics into the United States. He also emphasized that no U.S. forces were harmed in the operation.

The president later confirmed the blast occurred in the SOUTHCOM area of responsibility, while the terrorists were in international waters transporting illegal narcotics to the U.S.

Hegseth was unable to disclose “exactly” how the operation occurred, but reiterated that the measure was done with “precision.”

“It won’t stop with just this strike. Anyone else trafficking in those waters, who we know is a designated narco-terrorist, will face the same fate, and it’s important for the American people to protect our homeland and protect our hemisphere,” he said.

Epstein victims’ lawyer tells Congress ‘nothing is off limits’ with documents release

A lawyer representing victims of Jeffrey Epstein said Wednesday that the American public is “going to be appalled” about documents relating to the disgraced late financier that have not been released by the federal government.

“The government has mistreated them after Jeffrey Epstein mistreated them,” Bradley Edwards said of the victims in Washington, D.C.

Edwards spoke during a news conference that is part of an effort by Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., to pass through the House a procedural motion known as a discharge petition, which could force a House vote urging the Justice Department to release the Epstein files.

“We filed lawsuits against Jeffrey Epstein, against his estate and against two financial institutions — JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank, that prove that they provided, knowingly provided the financial infrastructure for a sex trafficking operation. Unfortunately, all of the documents and evidence that we have worked so hard to gather hide behind protective orders, confidentiality agreements and bank secrecy laws,” Edwards said.

“That is why this discharge petition is so important. While we have seen the documents, you haven’t, and when you see the documents, you’re going to be appalled, and the American people deserve to see everything,” he added.

“The documents in the possession of the CIA should be made available. Those in the possession of the FBI going back decades should be made available,” Edwards continued.

“Everybody knows that evil flourishes in the darkness. Corruption flourishes in secrecy. It is time right now to make a difference for the women that are behind me right now,” Edwards said as he stood alongside victims.

Epstein died in prison six years ago while awaiting federal charges related to sex trafficking.

“This is not a hoax. This is real. There are real survivors,” Massie said. “There are real victims to this criminal enterprise, and the perpetrators are being protected because they’re rich and powerful and political donors to the establishment here in Washington, DC. So today we’re standing with the survivors and we’re giving them a voice.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., also said Wednesday that “the women behind me have never received justice.

“And do you want to know why? It’s because Jeffrey Epstein somehow was able to walk among the most rich, powerful people, not only in America, but foreign countries. Yesterday I heard countries like Saudi Arabia, Russia and even Israel and other countries,” Greene said. “The truth needs to come out, and the government holds the truth that the cases that are sealed hold the truth. Jeffrey Epstein’s estate holds the truth. The FBI, the DOJ, and the CIA holds the truth. And the truth we are demanding.”

Epstein victim Jena-Lisa Jones said Wednesday that she “was only 14 years old when my friend brought me over to Jeffrey Epstein’s house in Palm Beach in 2003.”

“I always did my best in school and I had such a positive outlook on life,” she said. “Until that day that I met Jeffrey, I have never been more scared in my life than I was that first time that he hurt me. I remember crying the entire way home, thinking about how I couldn’t ever tell anyone about what actually happened in that house.”

“I want to thank Congressman Ro and Congressman Thomas Massie for having me here today. It was really hard for me to find my voice and to become strong enough to speak about my abuse,” she also said. “Together, we can finally make a change. And that is thanks to the people like these two Congressmen and their teams who actually care about the victims.”

“If you are a member of Congress and you are listening to all of us speak here today, please really listen to us. Please vote for this bill to be passed,” Jones said. “Please, President Trump, pass this bill and help us. Make us feel like our voices are finally being heard.”

Residents living in fear as out-of-control street takeovers plague urban centers

An expert in crime prevention and reduction told Fox News Digital that the recent rash of urban organized street takeovers leaves residents in fear, and feeling like authorities don’t have control over the streets they are supposed to protect.

“Whether you’re having dinner or studying or getting ready to go to bed, they’re loud. They’re disorganized. They’re not good for the neighborhood or the city,” said John Jay College of Criminal Justice professor Peter Moskos. “And it also gives the perception, rooted in reality in this case, that nobody’s in control.”

Over the past few weeks, there have been at least nine such high-profile incidents across the country.

BIKE-RIDING YOUTHS TERRORIZE DEM-RUN CITY AS MOBS SWARM ROADS, WHILE MAYOR STAYS SILENT ON CHAOS

Moskos was a police officer in Baltimore’s Eastern District, a notoriously rough part of the city, before becoming an academic. He is also the author of the recently-published book “Back from the Brink: Inside the NYPD and New York City’s Extraordinary 1990s Crime Drop.”

“And that creates fear,” Moskos continued. “It creates a disconnect with what you expect government to be able to do, which is to, at a basic extent, just maintain public order.

They’re dangerous to the public. They’re dangerous to participants,” he said. “But there’s also the quality-of-life factors that if you live near where this is happening repeatedly, you just simply don’t want it happening.”

On Aug. 9, around 50 vehicles wreaked havoc outside the Crypto.com Arena, home of the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, doing donuts and burnouts while onlookers set off fireworks and shot paintball guns at vehicles, according to KTLA

Two people also reportedly broke into a storefront and looted merchandise during the event.

Stemming from a recent street takeover in Carson, California, part of Los Angeles County, authorities reportedly arrested 64 spectators and towed 25 vehicles. Two vehicles were impounded for 30 days and eight traffic citations were issued.

Moskos said the first step to tackling the phenomenon is to understand why it’s happening. He said it has become “cool” in the eyes of the participants, and that one way to make street takeovers uncool again is for politicians to have the will to crack down on the practice.

“The politicians in charge need to say this is unacceptable, and we’re going to end it. It is possible to end that. We can change culture. We can certainly stop people from engaging in this one activity, but there are gonna be consequences,” he said.

PROTESTERS CONFRONT OFFICERS PATROLLING DC STREETS AFTER TRUMP POLICING TAKEOVER

Social media plays a role in the continued trend.

“Given that everyone has a phone, there is going to be social media attention to this. But that is part of the appeal,” he said.

On Aug. 13, 200 bikers took to the streets in Tampa, Florida, swerving through traffic and on sidewalks, flying through intersections and doing wheelies.

“We definitely felt that there was an extreme danger at that point, and we needed to address it,” said Tampa Police Maj. Les Richardson,” according to FOX 13

On Aug. 16, “hundreds of people and cars” swarmed Home Depot, In-N-Out and Target parking lots in what was described as an “illegal” street takeover in Seaside, California, according to KSBW. The local police department said it is planning enforcement actions for future takeovers.

On the same day, 100 cyclists, e-bike and dirt bike riders took over a Boston highway, terrifying local drivers. The incident resulted in a collision with a Massachusetts State Police vehicle. Only one person was arrested.

In Charlotte, North Carolina, police announced on X that 98 people were arrested during the week of Aug. 11 for their roles in numerous street takeovers throughout the city.

“Here we are again… because apparently some folks still think turning intersections into racetracks is a good idea. We’re here to remind you – it’s NOT. Still illegal. Still dangerous. Still getting shut down,” the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said. “Street stunts have consequences! And we’ll be here to remind you of that, every time.”

Along with the arrests, police said numerous vehicles have been seized in connection with the takeovers.

OVER 100 LOOTERS RANSACK AUTOZONE IN POSSIBLE LA STREET TAKEOVER

On Aug. 18, the Dallas Police Department, which has a Street Racing Task Force, responded to a street takeover that included a “large group of motorcycles, dirt bikes and off-road vehicles doing stunts, blocking both directions of travel, and driving dangerously.”

Police said that 30 citations were issued for various violations of license, registration and insurance laws. 12 e-bikes and dirt bikers were seized.

“We enforce Texas laws to keep our streets safe,” said Maj. Gabriel Candelaria, commander of the Northeast Patrol Division. “Our streets are not a stage for stunt driving and reckless behavior.”

As for solutions, Moskos said that if the culture doesn’t change, other methods can be explored.

“Maybe the answer is putting physical obstacles in certain places when it’s safe to do so,” he said. “And again, these have to be figured out at the local level, and again, ideally in cooperation with neighborhood groups, with other city agencies. But it is something that we can police our way out of.”

In early August, a Cleveland City councilman, Michael Polensek, witnessed and video recorded a street takeover in the city, according to Cleveland 19 News. He observed multiple vehicles without license plates taking part in the charade.

A 911 caller reportedly said “approximately 500 dirt bikes are blocking three gas stations.”

BUSINESS OWNERS BLAST ‘WEAKENED LEADERSHIP’ AS BLUE CITY RANKS AMONG MOST DANGEROUS IN US

“Charge them for going through the red lights, charge them for endangering motorists — go after these people because unless you do that, it’s not going to stop and someone is going to get hurt, and someone’s going to get killed,” Polensek told the news outlet.

In Cincinnati, 17 cars were involved in an early August street takeover. Four vehicles were impounded stemming from that incident.

All in all, the crackdowns will have to continue until street takeover ringleaders and participants are totally deterred.

“You can’t just say one and done and say, ‘Look, we arrested 100 people, therefore it’s a success.’ No, in a way, you arrested 100 people, [and] that was a failure,” said Moskos. “It might be the path toward success, but you just have to keep it up till people change their behavior. I mean the thing about policing is it is a verb, and it’s not always done by police. But you’re trying to police behavior and it can be done.”

Richard Branson’s elite island retreat hit by fatal incident as dark history emerges

For years, Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island has served as a luxurious getaway for the elite, including Barack and Michelle Obama, Princess Diana, Robert De Niro, Kate Winslet, Kevin Costner and more. But behind the picturesque paradise lies a dark past. From natural disasters to an unexpected death, the 74-acre private island in the British Virgin Islands has a history of mayhem.

The most recent tragedy occurred in the early hours of Aug. 30.

“It is with deepest sadness that we can confirm that one of our Necker Island team members sadly passed away on Saturday 30 August 2025,” a representative for Virgin Limited Edition told Fox News Digital in a statement. “They were a hugely talented and exceptional member of the Necker Island family, and we are all devastated by this news. Our utmost priority is the wellbeing of their family and friends, and that of our team, and we are doing everything we can to support them all during this very difficult time.”

According to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), emergency services were alerted to the fatal incident on Saturday.

The man was found unconscious and had sustained a head injury at the scene of an accident in the late hours of Aug. 29. The Necker Island medic was immediately called to the scene, and medical care, including CPR, was provided.

The man was transported to the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, the RVIPF confirmed.

RICHARD BRANSON ON HIS UPBRINGING AND NEW ‘BRANSON’ DOCUSERIES: ‘I’M INCREDIBLY GRATEFUL’

Another individual was treated for non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the incident.

Branson was not on the island at the time of the incident, but is deeply saddened by the ordeal.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased,” the acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline Vanterpool said in a statement. “This is a tragic event, and the RVIPF is committed to conducting a thorough investigation.”

Branson purchased Necker Island in 1979 for $180,000, per Branson’s Virgin website.

According to the mogul, he “had been madly trying to come up with a way to impress a girl I had fallen for,” so when he learned an island was for sale in the British Virgin Islands, he contacted the realtor.

“We were still in the early days of Virgin Records, and I by no means had the cash to buy an island,” he continued. “Luckily, the realtor didn’t know this and offered me an all expenses paid trip to see the islands that weekend. I agreed to go on one condition – if I could bring a guest.”

Branson was originally quoted $6 million but couldn’t afford it at the time. He wrote that a year later nobody had made an offer, and with Virgin Records doing better, he bought the island for just $180,000. He explained, “the only condition was that I would need to build a resort on the island within four years.”

But it was not all smooth sailing in paradise.

In 2011, Branson’s residence was struck by lightning during a tropical storm that ignited a house fire. Twenty guests, including Kate Winslet, fled the house to safety.

“My son Sam and nephew Jack rushed to the house and helped get everyone out, and many thanks to Kate Winslet for helping to carry my 90-year-old mum out of the main house to safety,” Branson wrote at the time of the incident, crediting the “Titanic” star for saving his mom, Eve.

“My mum is 90 and can walk, but it was more just to speed the process up than anything else. But anyway, she was great. She swept her up into her arms and got them out of the house as fast as possible,” Branson told The Telegraph at the time. “Talking to her, she said it’s like being in a film set where you’re waiting for the words ‘cut’ but they just don’t come. So it was quite surreal for her to be in a real-life situation.”

However, Eve recalled a different story.

“Oh no! I’m sick of this story,” she told The Guardian in 2014. “It was the hurricane of hurricanes, and we were on fire. And we would have all been burnt alive if it wasn’t for my grandsons. It was four or five in the morning, and they went around getting everyone out of bed. I remember saying: ‘I’d better put my mac on’ because I wanted to cover up and Jack [her grandson] saying: ‘No, not right now.’

“Anyway, I’d just about got outside and the rain was pouring down, and I didn’t have my contact lenses in. But I was making my way out, and Kate and her two children were behind me. Then she just sort of picked me up and took me down four steps and that was it. I’m sorry, I can’t make a story out of it.”

Six years later, Necker Island faced severe damage in September 2017 during Hurricane Irma.

In a blog post for Virgin, the billionaire said he had “never seen anything like” Hurricane Irma and added that it was a “traumatic time.”

Branson explained that while the extent of the damage still needed to be assessed, “whole houses and trees have disappeared” and “bathroom and bedroom doors and windows have flown 40 feet away.”

“Much of the buildings and vegetation on Necker has been destroyed or badly damaged,” Branson wrote at the time, but his foundation Virgin Unite was already at work to repair the damage.

Despite the havoc, the island has also been a place to unite families and loved ones.

Last year, Costner and singer Jewel were photographed on the island at a tennis fundraiser for the Inspiring Children Foundation, an organization started by Jewel, and, according to the Daily Mail, Branson was the matchmaker.

In the 1990s, Princess Diana and her family – including Prince William, Prince Harry and her mother Frances Shand Kydd – enjoyed the holidays on the island.

Former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama stayed on Necker Island in February 2017.

In a post on Virgin’s website, Branson wrote that he invited the couple to the island for a “complete break” after Obama’s two presidential terms.

“It was a huge honour to be able to invite President Barack and Michelle Obama down to the British Virgin Islands for a complete break after Barack finished his second term as President and the family left the White House,” Branson wrote.

Cardiologist reveals the ‘magic sauce’ for living longer that’s ‘free and accessible’

There are numerous paths to living a longer, healthier life, mostly through physical activity, diet and other lifestyle factors.

But according to board-certified cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Jeremy London, the key to longevity could come down to two main metrics.

In a video posted to his more than 1 million followers on social media, London broke down how two factors – VO2 max and muscle mass – can help increase health span and lifespan.

WHAT PEOPLE WHO LIVE TO 100 YEARS OLD HAVE IN COMMON, ACCORDING TO SCIENCE

VO2 max is an indicator of how efficiently the body utilizes oxygen with intense exercise, said London, who is based in Savannah, Georgia.

“In other words, the health of your cardiovascular system,” he said. “Not surprising that it increases health span and lifespan.”

In an on-camera interview with Fox News Digital, London added that VO2 max is “statistically” the No. 1 indicator of longevity. (See the video at the top of this article.)

In comparing individuals with a low VO2 max to those with a higher VO2 max, scientists have identified “magnitudes of improvement” in reducing cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, as well as increasing longevity.

“Even if you’ve never exercised, or if you haven’t exercised for a long time, you can still get benefits.”

A recent Harvard Medical School publication confirmed that a high VO2 correlates with better physical fitness and a lower risk of cardiovascular disease.

“If you know your VO2 max, you can use it as a tool to help you exercise more efficiently,” the Harvard experts wrote.

“If you have a higher VO2 max, that means your heart and lungs are more effectively supplying blood to your muscles, and that your muscles are efficiently extracting and using oxygen from your blood. That’s why a high VO2 max is a good indicator of a high fitness level.”

Muscle mass is the next element that can impact longevity, London noted.

“It’s a close second, and plays a significant role in the ability to continue daily life activities as we age,” he told Fox News Digital. “The combination of the two is the magic sauce.”

AGING BRAINS COULD ‘BECOME’ YOUNGER WHEN KEY PROTEIN IS DECREASED

One reason is that muscle is a “glucose sink,” meaning it decreases the risk of insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome.

When the body is ill, muscle mass can also secrete “myocines,” which are anti-inflammatory proteins that can decrease the severity of illnesses.

“Muscle is so important for your functional capacity, being able to do the things you want to do in later years,” London said. “The deadlifts you do at 30 enable you to pick up the suitcase at 80.”

Building muscle mass doesn’t always require heavyweight training or strenuous exercise. In fact, London said he’s sometimes hesitant to use the word “exercise” at all.

“Just move,” he said. “It could be dancing for some people, it could be swimming, it could be just going for a walk … It may just be body weight or yoga, or Pilates or whatever.”

The key is consistency, he emphasized, and finding a balance between what you need and what you enjoy doing for fitness and movement.

“There’s no one answer for everybody, but you just want to put your muscles under stress and strain so they can grow,” London went on.

“The deadlifts you do at 30 enable you to pick up the suitcase at 80.”

“And you want to be moving on a regular basis during the week so that you’re getting your heart rate up to keep your VO2 max as high as it possibly can be, based on your age.”

A simple walking program or body weight resistance training, he said, is “free, accessible and always available.”

London added, “The cool thing is, even if you’ve never exercised, or if you haven’t exercised for a long time, you can still get benefits.”

Mayor vows no aid to feds despite chaotic protests at ICE facility

Portland Mayor Keith Wilson is reaffirming his city’s commitment to sanctuary policies in the wake of another night of violence outside a local U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility.

Wilson, a Democrat, vowed that local police would not aid ICE and said he’s working with Portland police to determine a response to the violent Labor Day clashes outside the South Macadam Avenue facility, the latest in a series of ugly incidents at the site over the last few months as agitators push back against federal immigration enforcement.

Anti-ICE protesters were captured on video rolling out a guillotine and clashing with police before law enforcement fired munitions to disperse the crowd.

“But we will not engage with the federal immigration enforcement that goes on,” Wilson told KOIN 6 News. “That is our sanctuary city goals; that is what the governor’s goals are. So you can rest assured we won’t be engaging with or working with ICE in any circumstances.”

The mayor outlined how his administration is coordinating with state and federal allies to manage potential clashes.

“We are really working with everybody in the city, we’re working with our congressional delegates, we’re working on what we can do to protect our citizens responsibly, to protect Portlanders,” Wilson said. “We have tabletop exercises to determine what our next responses are to this overreach and overreaction.”

PORTLAND ANTI-ICE RIOT CRUSHED BY FEDERAL AGENTS

Tabletop exercises are discussions in which participants work through scenarios to test emergency response plans, per KOIN 6 News. The Portland Police Bureau said it was not involved in what happened outside the ICE facility on Labor Day night, per the outlet.

In July, Portland’s progressive-leaning city council said it was exploring ways to expel ICE from the detention facility that has become a flashpoint for violent clashes between agents and radical agitators.

Chaotic scenes have been unfolding outside the facility since June, including in one incident where a large group of anti-ICE protesters tried to block law enforcement vehicles from entering and exiting the facility, forcing agents to deploy rubber bullets, tear gas and flash bangs to disperse the crowd.

Footage that emerged from overnight Monday purportedly showed demonstrators burning a flag before law enforcement fired munitions to disperse the crowd.

Video then showed police clearing out the area, with the protesters yelling through loudspeakers, “You are sad excuses for human beings!” and “You guys are violent, cowardly pigs!”

At least two protesters were seen wielding riot shields to protect against the munitions being fired at them. It is unclear if any arrests were made during the incident.

“We are seeing historic threats against ICE officers, but that is not going to deter us,” ICE Deputy Director Madison Sheahan told “Fox & Friends” Tuesday when asked about the clashes.

“We will continue to go after these criminals, these alien criminals that have wreaked havoc on the American people over the last four years, and we will continue to support our ICE officers, making sure they have the tools and resources they need to be successful. We will work with them to protect their family, whether it’s from doxxing or the threats that we see against them on a daily basis,” Sheahan added.

Rashida Tlaib hit with censure threat after divisive anti-Israel speech

FIRST ON FOX: Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., is facing a GOP-led censure resolution on Wednesday after her fiery remarks at a pro-Palestinian conference.

Tlaib spoke at the People’s Conference for Palestine in Detroit over the weekend, when she condemned both Democrats and Republicans for supporting Israel as its military campaign in Gaza continues.

Rep. Buddy Carter, R-Ga., who introduced the measure, accused Tlaib of “vilifying her colleagues, endangering the lives of Jewish people, and celebrating terrorism.”

“Her conduct is beneath that of a civilized person, let alone a member of Congress. I am calling on the House of Representatives to censure her remarks and put Democrats on notice for enabling and cheering on antisemitism in their own party,” Carter told Fox News Digital.

DNC SUMMER MEETING DERAILED AFTER TENSIONS FLARE OVER DUELING RESOLUTIONS: ‘LOSING OUR FUTURE’

The Detroit-area progressive, the first Palestinian American elected to Congress, targeted the institution itself in her remarks. “Outside of the decaying halls of the empire in Washington, D.C., we are winning. They are scared.”

She also brushed off colleagues’ concerns about anti-Israel protests near their offices.

“They are scared. They send me videos and messages of people protesting in front of their district offices, people showing up at their town halls, and I was like, we’re not all related. Those are fellow Americans,” Tlaib said. “Maybe you should meet with them and listen.”

Carter’s resolution referenced other speakers at the event, tying their rhetoric to Tlaib’s participation.

He pointed to remarks by Aisha Nizar, an activist with the Palestinian Youth Movement, who discussed disrupting the U.S. supply chain for F-35 combat aircraft.

WHITE HOUSE DEMANDS ALL GAZA HOSTAGES RETURN HOME ‘THIS WEEK’ AMID STALLED TALKS

“If one specific node of the F-35 supply chain is intervened in, it has a huge impact for our people back home,” Nizar said. “We need to be surgical. We need to be strategic. And we need to be bold in our actions. Because there are many different points of these supply chains of death that we can intervene in.”

Another participant, Nidal Jboor, founder of Doctors Against Genocide, reportedly said of leaders in the U.S., Europe and Israel, “They must be locked up, taken out, neutralized to save children and humanity,” according to a report by the Middle East Media Research Institute.

It remains unclear how closely Tlaib is tied to those figures, but Carter’s resolution links her speech to past controversies over her criticism of Israel.

“Representative Rashida Tlaib has repeatedly displayed conduct entirely unbecoming of a member of the House of Representatives by calling for the destruction of the state of Israel and by dangerously promoting terrorism and extremism, while Israeli and American hostages remain in terrorist captivity,” the resolution states.

Carter is running for U.S. Senate in Georgia in 2026.

Israel’s military campaign in Gaza — which international organizations warn has created famine conditions — was launched in response to Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, terror attack that killed more than 1,000 people in southern Israel, many of them civilians in their homes.

The conflict has split lawmakers in both parties, with a growing number of Democrats and even some Republicans criticizing the magnitude of Israel’s response.

The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry claims tens of thousands of Palestinians have been killed since Oct. 7.
