Gen Z demonstrators storm prisons, set fire to government buildings, officials’ homes
Nepal’s protests against the government turned violent across the Himalayan nation on Tuesday with officials confirming that at least 19 people have been killed and hundreds more wounded, Reuters reported.
Demonstrators, mainly young people from Generation Z, torched parliament and the homes of government officials, stormed prisons and forced the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in the nation’s capital of Kathmandu.
Reports from local media said protesters allegedly set the home of former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal on fire with his wife, Ravi Laxmi Chitrakar, inside the Dallu residence.

She was critically burned, The New York Times reported, and was rushed to Kirtipur Burn Hospital, her family said.
Violent protests erupted last week after the government banned major social media platforms, including Facebook, X and YouTube.
Although the ban was revoked, demonstrators said they would continue until parliament was dissolved, with many unhappy with the current political parties, blaming them for corruption, The Associated Press reported.
“I am here to protest about the massive corruption in our country,” student Bishnu Thapa Chetri told the AP. “The country has gotten so bad that, for us youths, there is no grounds for us to stay.”

Oli, whose own home was also set on fire, resigned Tuesday. Black smoke was seen billowing from the Singha Durbar palace complex, which is the government’s main administrative home.
Officials also confirmed that two prisons in western Nepal were stormed, leading to the escape of nearly 900 inmates.

The U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu has urged citizens to avoid large gatherings.
Nepal’s army chief, Ashok Raj Sigdel, warned the military could “take control of the situation” if the violence continues, though he appealed to demonstrators for dialogue.
Leavitt blasts press for ignoring stabbing that doesn’t fit ‘preferred narrative’
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt lambasted media outlets Tuesday for their slow response in covering the fatal stabbing of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska.
Zarutska, 23, came to the U.S. seeking safety from the war in Ukraine, but was stabbed to death on a train in Charlotte, N.C., on Aug. 22. She was riding home from work at a pizzeria and still wearing her uniform when an assailant stabbed her to death. The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Decarlos Brown, was arrested and charged with murder.
Footage of the attack has gone viral on social media and fueled national debates about crime and public safety. Leavitt argued the media was slow to report the story.
CHARLOTTE MAYOR SLAMMED OVER COMMENTS AFTER WOMAN STABBED TO DEATH ON TRAIN
“This is madness. This monster should have been locked up, and Iryna should still be alive, but Democrat politicians, liberal judges, and weak prosecutors would rather virtue signal than lock up criminals and protect their communities,” she warned. “Perhaps most shamefully of all, the majority of the media, many outlets in this room, decided that her murder was not worth reporting on originally because it does not fit a preferred narrative.”
Leavitt compared the case to the 2023 Daniel Penny incident in New York City, where the Marine veteran was charged after fatally restraining Jordan Neely on a subway train.
“Many of the journalists in this room spilled plenty of ink, trying to smear Daniel Penny for defending a subway car from a deranged lunatic in New York City, but none of those same reporters lift a finger to write stories about an actual murderer,” she said. “Here’s the truth that every American must know. Too many innocent people across the country continue to pay the price of the failed experiment known as cashless bail that has been championed by the Democratic Party for years.”

Leavitt argued that Democrats in North Carolina and nationwide are pushing a “soft-on-crime agenda” that leaves innocent Americans vulnerable.
“These reckless policies have turned too many of America’s cities into hunting grounds for career criminals who mock our justice system, drain law enforcement resources, and wreak havoc on law-abiding citizens,” she said. “Enough is enough.”
Numerous news outlets have gotten around to covering her murder this week, although some are framing their coverage as conservatives and Republicans trying to take advantage of the situation politically.

Democrat defeats Republican in special election as GOP House majority shrinks
Democrats will hold onto a vacant congressional seat in the northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C., in a special election seen as a referendum on President Donald Trump and his sweeping and controversial agenda.
Democratic Party nominee James Walkinshaw defeated Republican nominee Stewart Whitson in Virginia’s left-leaning 11th Congressional District, according to The Associated Press.
Walkinshaw will succeed late longtime Democratic Rep. Gerry Connolly, who died in June after a battle with cancer.
Heading into Tuesday’s special election, Republicans controlled the House 219-212, with three seats controlled by Democrats vacant, as well as one held by the GOP. Walkinshaw’s victory in the left-leaning district that Republicans haven’t won in nearly two decades further narrows the GOP’s fragile House majority.
TRUMP NOT ON BALLOT BUT FRONT-AND-CENTER IN 2025 ELECTIONS
The district is home to tens of thousands of government workers and contractors, and the federal jobs cuts by Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and crime and immigration, transgender policies and even the push to release the Justice Department’s files on the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were all in the spotlight on the campaign trail.
FOUR KEY SENATE SEATS THE GOP AIMS TO FLIP IN NEXT YEAR’S MIDTERM ELECTIONS
“Folks in Northern Virginia and Fairfax are feeling the impact of the Trump policies. And I like to say we’re kind of on the leading edge of the Trump economy here. Everybody in Fairfax knows someone, probably someone on their street, maybe the parent of their kid’s soccer team, who has lost their job because of DOGE or the Trump policies,” Walkinshaw told Fox News Digital on Election Day eve.
Walkinshaw, a Fairfax County Board of Supervisors member who previously served as Connolly’s chief of staff, argued that “if the Trump policies continue, tariffs, the so-called big, beautiful bill, that’s going to be the case all around the country. So, I think we’re on the leading edge of that. And I think voters tomorrow are going to send a statement about that.”
Whitson also said Trump was in the campaign spotlight because of a “lot of the great policies that he’s been championing.”
Whitson, an Army veteran and former FBI special agent who oversees federal affairs for a conservative think tank, told Fox News Digital “the people in our district who have lost their job or who are worried about losing their job, they don’t need empathy. They need solutions.”
He said Walkinshaw claimed “he’s going to fight President Trump and fight the administration. And my pitch to voters in our district is: is that going to help? Is that going to help improve the situation? The answer is no.

“We need someone to represent the people in our district who can work with any administration, whether it’s Republican or Democrat,” Whitson emphasized.
While Trump isn’t very popular in the district — the president won just 31% of the vote in his White House re-election last year — Whitson said Trump’s polices “center on … common sense.”
Texas Democrat Jasmine Crockett under fire for ‘one of the dumbest statements ever’
Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, sparked backlash on social media Monday after a video surfaced of her saying that local law enforcement’s role is only to solve crime, not prevent it.
A clip from Crockett’s appearance on the “Grounded” podcast — which premiered last Wednesday — went viral as critics seized on her remarks.
“I want to be clear that, like, law enforcement isn’t to prevent crime. Law enforcement solves crime, OK? That is what they are supposed to do. They are supposed to solve crimes, not necessarily prevent them from happening per se,” she said.
REP. JASMINE CROCKETT CALLS TRUMP A ‘PIECE OF S—‘ DURING LIBERAL RALLY
Crockett, one of the Democratic Party’s most outspoken figures, made the statement during a discussion of how law enforcement was utilized by the Trump administration to clean up crime in Washington, D.C.
“I think it has been terrible,” Crockett said of Trump’s use of U.S. National Guard troops and various law enforcement agencies in the city.
“How is it that we have a government that is hostile towards its people? ‘Cause that’s what it is. Like, I mean, we are in the midst of a hostile government takeover, and it is our government that is like, bringing the hostility.”
The lawmaker explained how the Guard, ICE and other law enforcement agencies aren’t trained for what Trump is using them for, and then made her point that local law enforcement’s job is not to prevent, but only to solve crime.
TRUMP CHALLENGES AOC AND JASMINE CROCKETT TO INTELLIGENCE TEST AFTER CALLING THEM ‘VERY LOW IQ’
Journalist Nick Sortor shared the clip on X with a rebuke.
“WTF?! Jasmine Crockett: ‘Law enforcement isn’t to PREVENT crime! Law enforcement solves crime, okay? That is what they are supposed to do.’ Just when I thought Democrats couldn’t get any dumber, JASMINE CROCKETT opens her mouth again.”
Scientist and author Matt Van Swol blasted Crockett, stating, “Truly one of the dumbest statements ever made by anyone on planet earth.”
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s deputy chief of staff, Alexa Henning, commented, “Terrifying how stupid people get into higher office.”
Law enforcement officer and consultant Deon Joseph responded to Crockett’s claim.
“Jasmine Crockett is wrong. It is our job to prevent crime. We just need more support. I didn’t sign up to just wait for people to be victimized,” he wrote on X, in addition to sharing a video response.

Alleged ‘serial killer’ charged with using dating app to kill 2 victims, attack another
A California man, accused of wearing a mask that made him appear White in dozens of robberies, was charged on Monday with allegedly using an online dating app to lure men into meetings that ended in murder, disappearance and a near-fatal assault, according to Los Angeles prosecutors.
Rockim Prowell, 34, of Inglewood, California, was charged with two counts of murder with a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
He also faces one count of attempted murder, two counts of carjacking, two counts of second-degree burglary and one count of assault with a deadly weapon, according to the DA’s office.
Prosecutors said the first victim, Miguel Angel King, 51, met with Prowell July 20, 2021, after the two men talked on an unnamed online dating app.

Prowell is accused of fatally shooting King before stealing his car, which was discovered more than a week later just miles from Prowell’s home, according to the DA’s office. Forensic evidence inside the vehicle linked Prowell to the killing.
Nearly a month after the murder, King’s remains were discovered in the Angeles National Forest Aug. 14, 2021.
CALIFORNIA MAN ACCUSED BY FEDS OF SCAMMING $2 MILLION FROM PEOPLE ON DATING APPS
Nearly two years later, a second victim, Robert Gutierrez, 53, agreed to meet Aug. 21, 2023, about a mile from Prowell’s home, after connecting on the same dating site, according to officials.
Two days later, Gutierrez’s family reported him missing. His body has never been found.
When investigators arrested Prowell last week, they found Gutierrez’s car in Prowell’s garage, along with additional evidence tying him to the killing, according to the DA’s office.

Authorities said Prowell’s most recent attack came on Feb. 22, when he lured a 40-year-old man he met through the same dating app to a location four miles from his home.
Prowell allegedly bound the victim, stole his wallet and beat him with a baseball bat, according to the DA’s office. The man managed to escape, but Prowell chased him in a vehicle, allegedly striking him and leaving him with a broken leg.
“Imagine the terror and horror these victims felt after being duped into believing they were meeting for one reason, only to face inexplicable violence,” Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman wrote in a statement. “These were predatory acts that showed a total disregard of life.”
Prowell is on probation in two separate cases for a series of burglaries he committed in the Beverly Hills and Los Angeles areas between 2019 and 2021, according to the DA’s office.
A local report from affiliate FOX 11 indicates he may be connected to more than 30 masked burglaries across Southern California.
The mask, which authorities found in a vehicle Prowell was driving, appeared to resemble a young, White man’s face.
It is unclear if any masks were connected to the dating app incidents.

If convicted as charged, Prowell faces death or life in state prison without the possibility of parole. A decision on whether to seek the death penalty will be made at a later date.

‘Phillies Karen’ gets offer for home run ball, ‘but there’s a catch’
A trading card retailer offered a deal to an irate Philadelphia Phillies fan who demanded that a father give her a home run ball during the team’s game against the Miami Marlins last week.
Blowout Cards issued a statement in the hours after the incident, saying the company would offer $5,000 to the woman for the baseball, “but there’s a catch.”

“We want that ball signed and inscribed by her — and only her, whoever she is — ‘I’m sorry’ so we can simply give it back to the kid. Our offer is official and the offer is firm,” the company said.
The woman, who was dubbed “Phillies Karen,” has not been identified. Internet sleuths have wrongly identified a few people as they search for her.
The family at the center of the firestorm spoke out in an interview on Fox News Channel’s “America Reports” on Monday.
The viral moment showed Drew Feltwell running toward a home run ball hit by Phillies outfielder Harrison Bader. He beat about four people to the souvenir. He then gave it to his son and shared it in the special moment. But before the moment could sink in, an irate female Phillies fan marched over to Feltwell and his family and demanded they give her the ball instead.

“I can’t even repeat that on air. She was very vulgar,” he recalled. “Screaming right in my ear that, you know, lotta bad words and, ‘That’s my ball.’ That was her section and trying to tell me she had the right to that ball. The screaming and yelling kinda got to us, and I just wanted her to go away. So, that’s how she got the ball.”
Feltwell said he was trying to de-escalate the situation when he gave the ball to the woman. She celebrated the win soon after.
He said he had no regrets about how he handled the situation.
“No, I think the world could use a little extra de-escalation,” Feltwell explained. “Everything is so tense. The world is pretty crazy, and I don’t want to do anything like that in front of my son or on camera. It was tough giving the ball back, but it ended that situation.”
Feltwell said he hoped nothing bad would happen to her but would want her to give the ball back.

Chiefs coach baffled by NFL rule after Kelce takes ‘pretty hard’ hit to the head
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid remained perplexed by the decision not to eject Los Angeles Chargers defensive tackle Teair Tart from Friday night’s game after he struck Travis Kelce in the head.
Speaking to the media Monday ahead of the Chiefs’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Reid was asked about the NFL rule that called for an unnecessary roughness penalty as opposed to an automatic suspension.
“Yeah, I don’t understand that — that rule,” Reid said.

The incident took place in the third quarter after Kelce continued to block after the whistle was blown. Tart appeared to strike Kelce with an open-handed blow in retaliation.
“I guess it’s open-hand fist, whatever, I don’t know. I mean, I don’t know what their decision was on that. But he definitely got hit in the head pretty hard whether it was an open fist or a closed fist,” Reid continued.

According to the NFL rule book, an open-hand strike is illegal but does not call for a mandated disqualification. A closed-fist punch would call for an automatic disqualification.
Reid was asked if he had gotten clarity from the league regarding the decision.
“Yeah, I will work that out with the league,” he said.

House panel releases Epstein ‘birthday book’ with Clinton note, intimate photos
Among the files made public by the House Oversight Committee is a document that stands out for its tone: a glossy 238-page scrapbook that offers a rare and unusually intimate glimpse of Jeffrey Epstein’s self-curated network.
The infamous “birthday book,” compiled by Ghislaine Maxwell in 2003, for Epstein’s 50th includes what appears to be notes from former President Bill Clinton, Alan Dershowitz, as well as photographs that juxtapose girlfriends, animals, children’s drawings with financiers and politicians — a tableau that feels all the more unsettling today.
BILL CLINTON LETTER IN EPSTEIN ‘BIRTHDAY BOOK’ AMONG NEW FILES RELEASED BY HOUSE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE
Maxwell wrote to Epstein at the beginning of the book that she wanted to “gather stories and old photographs to jog your memory about places, people and different events.” She hoped he would “derive as much pleasure from looking through it” as she did assembling it for him.
Later in the book, a photo of the two canoodling appears with a caption that reads “the first date,” marked with the year 1991.
Maxwell was found guilty in 2021 of sex trafficking and other offenses, and is serving a 20-year prison term. Prosecutors said she played a central role in Epstein’s scheme, luring underage girls into what began as massages and escalated into sexual abuse.
Now 63 and incarcerated since her 2020 arrest, Maxwell told Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in late August that she had no role in the sexual exploitation of minors. When asked about the “birthday book,” she told Blanche that she could only remember some parts of it, adding that it had been years since she compiled it.
HOUSE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE RELEASES THOUSANDS OF EPSTEIN DOCUMENTS
Among the book’s entries is an apparent note from Bill Clinton, where the former Democratic president praises Epstein’s “childlike curiosity” and his “drive to make a difference” as well as the “[illegible] of friends.”
Dershowitz, a former Harvard University law professor who once represented Epstein during criminal investigations, used his birthday note to make a joke about influencing media coverage.
“Dear Jeffrey, as a birthday gift to you, I managed to obtain an early version of the Vanity Unfair article. I talked them into changing the focus from you to Bill Clinton, as you will see from the enclosed excerpt. Happy birthday and best regards,” the entry said.
Dershowitz has repeatedly denied wrongdoing as it relates to Epstein.
The birthday book also contained sentimental messages from family and friends. In one note, Epstein’s mother, Pauline Stolofsky Epstein, wrote that she’s been “very busy reminiscing since Ghislaine asked me to write about you.”
“Jeff[,] you have been a good son since day one and we have been proud of you ever since,” Epstein’s mother said.
“I recall you refused to sleep [as a child] unless I read a story from Grandma’s Golden Book that she bought for 25c,” she added. “At PTA meetings I begged your teachers to improve your handwriting.”
EPSTEIN ESTATE TO HAND OVER ‘BIRTHDAY BOOK’ TO LAWMAKERS, HOUSE DEM SAYS
She also referenced Epstein’s life as a bachelor, as well as his prominent media shout-outs.
“At age 27 Cosmopolitan magazine featured you as ‘Bachelor of the Month,'” Pauline Epstein wrote. “Today you still hold that title.”
“Jeff, I’m so sorry that Dad can’t share the [pride] we have regarding your achievements,” she added. “He would have been overjoyed reading the article about you in New York Magazine.”
The book features hundreds of photos from throughout Epstein’s life until age 50, including pictures of him as a child and a teenager.
Some of the earlier images included family pictures, formal school photos and pictures of him hanging out with friends as a teenager.
HOUSE MOVES TO EXPOSE EPSTEIN FILES, AUTHORIZES OVERSIGHT PROBE
The book also had revealing images of Epstein shirtless, Epstein embracing women and what appears to be a censored photo of him and Maxwell laughing and embracing in a pool. Pictures of mating lions and zebras were also included in the book.
A picture of a woman in a bikini was also included with the caption, “Visiting you down in Palm Beach. Can’t get a second of privacy with you and a camera around ha ha!”
Upon the files’ release, Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., chair of the House Oversight Committee, accused Democrats of previously “cherry-picking” the documents.

“Oversight Committee Republicans are focused on running a thorough investigation to bring transparency and accountability for survivors of Epstein’s heinous crimes and the American people,” Comer said.
