The chief of the Cleveland Division of Fire was placed on paid administrative leave after sharing an “insensitive” and “incendiary” social media post in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, Mayor Justin Bibb announced Tuesday.

The since-deleted Facebook post by Anthony P. Luke referred to Kirk and featured a cartoon showing elephants worshiping a golden rifle with one elephant declaring, “Bring out the next sacrifice!!” according to Fox 8 News.

The post reportedly appeared on Luke’s personal Facebook page after Kirk, a 31-year-old father of two, was tragically killed at a college campus event in Utah Sept. 10.

Bibb said the post “crossed the line.”

“This post romanticizes gun violence, a matter far too serious in a city where we mourn too many families every week, too many lives cut short, and too many children denied safe sleep in their beds,” Bibb wrote.

“I firmly believe in free speech, and the First Amendment protects every individual’s right to express opinions — even those that are unpopular, provocative, or difficult to hear. But with rights come responsibilities, especially for those who hold positions of public trust and leadership. A public safety leader is not just another citizen: they are a standard-bearer for what the City of Cleveland stands for, what we teach our children, and how our neighbors should expect to be treated — and protected.

“Chief Luke’s post crossed the line. It was insensitive, it was incendiary, and it did not reflect the values of compassion, unity, and safety that I strive to stand for—and that every public safety leader in this city should embody. Therefore, I am, effective immediately, placing Chief Luke on paid administrative leave pending an investigation,” Bibb concluded.

ABC News correspondent Matt Gutman is under fire for putting a spotlight on what he called the “very touching” text messages Charlie Kirk‘s alleged assassin sent to his transgender partner.

After the press conference announcing the murder charges against 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, Gutman marveled at “such specific text messages” that were unearthed about the murder weapon.

“But, also, it was very touching in a way that many of us didn’t expect,” Gutman said. “A very intimate portrait into this relationship between the suspect’s roommate and the suspect himself, with him repeatedly calling his roommate, who is transitioning, calling him ‘my love.’ And ‘I want to protect you, my love.’

“So, it was this duality of someone who the attorney said not only jeopardized the life of Charlie Kirk and the crowd, but was doing it in front of children, which is one of the aggravating circumstances of this case. And then, on the other hand, he was, you know, speaking so lovingly about his partner. So a very interesting and … riveting press conference.”

CHARLIE KIRK ASSASSINATION: AUTHORITIES COLLECT HOME SURVEILLANCE VIDEO THAT MAY SHOW KILLER FLEEING SCENE

On ABC News’ livestream platform, Gutman doubled down, calling it “heartbreaking on so many levels,” linking Kirk’s brutal murder to the “portrait of a very human person.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a press conference in which we’ve read text messages that are A, so fulsome, so robust, so apparently allegedly self-incriminating and yet, on the other hand, so touching, right?” Gutman said.

“And the terminology he used, he was trying to protect him. He kept calling him ‘my love.’ ‘My reason for doing this is to protect you,’ you know, but also asking him to delete the messages and not speak to law enforcement. So, there’s this heartbreaking duality that we’re seeing very tragically playing out.”

Gutman quickly went viral with critics slamming his “disgusting” comments.

“Wait, what???” Sen. Jim Banks, R-Ind., exclaimed.

“Wtaf,” New York Post columnist Karol Markowicz reacted.

“@MattGutmanABC the new front runner for worst take of the day, and that’s an impressive feat today,” Just The News correspondent Jerry Dunleavy wrote.

“All it takes is transgenderism being involved, and suddenly the mainstream press thinks the shooter and his boyfriend are a touching love story. Insane,” Red State writer Bonchie posted.

“If they aren’t going to change over this, they aren’t going to change over anything,” Versus Media podcast host Stephen L. Miller wrote.

JAY LENO CALLS CHARLIE KIRK ASSASSINATION THE ‘DEATH OF FREE SPEECH’

ABC News did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital‘s request for comment.

Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray announced Tuesday that Robinson is being charged with several counts, including aggravated murder.

Included in the indictment were text messages Robinson had sent to roommate Lance Twiggs, who Fox News Digital previously reported he had a romantic relationship with. Twiggs is a biological male who identifies as a woman.

“I am still ok my love, but am stuck in orem for a little while longer yet,” Robinson wrote in one exchange, according to the indictment. “Shouldn’t be long until I can come home, but I gotta grab my rifle still. To be honest I had hoped to keep this secret till I died of old age. I am sorry to involve you.”

“you weren’t the one who did it right????” the roommate exclaimed.

“I am, I’m sorry,” Robinson responded.

The assassination of Charlie Kirk has affected Jaime Lee Curtis in a deep way.

During an appearance on the “WTF With Marc Maron” podcast Monday, the “Freakier Friday” actress got emotional while discussing Kirk’s death and explained why she feels society is experiencing and feeling a “lack of humanity.”

“I’m going to bring something up with you just because it’s front of mind,” Curtis said. “Charlie Crist was killed two days ago.”

After Maron corrected her and mentioned his name was Kirk, she replied, “Sorry, Kirk. I just call him Crist, I think, because of Christ, because of his deep belief.”

CHARLIE KIRK ASSASSINATION: ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER, JOSH DUHAMEL, JILLIAN MICHAELS DENOUNCE POLITICAL VIOLENCE

“I mean, I disagreed with him on almost every point I ever heard him say,” said Curtis, who began to cry. “But I believe he was a man of faith, and I hope in that moment when he died, that he felt connected to his faith. Even though I find what his ideas were abhorrent to me, I still believe he’s a father and a husband and a man of faith, and I hope whatever ‘connection to God’ means, that he felt it.”

Curtis, who recorded the episode two days after Kirk’s killing and one day after the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, said seeing horrific video such as Kirk’s assassination or the twin towers collapsing can have a significant impact.

“We as a society are bombarded with imagery, so we don’t know what the longitudinal effects of seeing those towers coming down over and over and over and over again. Or watching his execution over and over and over again,” she said.

“But here we have now these images, and we are inured to them, and we are numb to them, but they are in there,” she added. “We don’t know enough psychologically about what that does. What does that do? I don’t ever want to see this footage of this man being shot. Is that the reason why we’re all feeling this lack of humanity? Because we are just saturated with these images.”

“I didn’t watch [the video of Kirk’s assassination],” Maron said. “I think it diminishes the depth of humanity.”

Curtis isn’t the only celebrity to have spoken out about Kirk’s death.

Country singer Gavin Adcock believes Kirk’s assassination has “awoken millions.”

During an appearance on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” on Monday, Adcock opened up to host Laura Ingraham about why he’s decided to memorialize Kirk during his recent concerts and explained why he’s not afraid to publicly support the late activist.

“When I found out the news [of Kirk’s death] the day before, I had four shows lined up that weekend, and it was sitting really heavy on the heart to even go play those shows after something like that happens,” Adcock said. “And I think my fan base sits right at the age group and the mindset of where Charlie’s fan base sits. And it was great to honor him all weekend.

“It wasn’t just at that first show — it was every show this weekend, and they were chanting ‘Charlie Kirk.’ For all the people, the hateful people out there, the groups that thought that would quiet Charlie Kirk, you just awoken millions of other people that are not scared to die. If you live in the life of the Lord, and I believe in Jesus, you shouldn’t be scared to leave this world. And Charlie Kirk was a great example of that.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger, a former Republican governor of California who in recent years has been critical of the party, took to social media after the shooting to urge people to come together after the tragedy.

“My heart is with Charlie Kirk’s family, and with the United States,” he wrote on X. “Politics has become a disease in this country, and it’s deadly. But don’t listen to the pessimists who say there is no cure. There is a cure. It is inside of us. We must find our better angels and walk back from the extremes. If we can’t agree on anything else, we must find agreement that we don’t solve our debates with violence.

“This is a horrible tragedy. May it also be a moment for everyone to rediscover their humanity.”

The Department of Homeland Security ramped up its Chicagoland operations Tuesday, as ICE’s Operation Midway Blitz was met by resources from Border Patrol Agent Gregory Bovino’s Operation At-Large utilized in Los Angeles in August.

“Well, Chicago, we’ve arrived,” Bovino said in captioning a video taken from vehicles rolling northbound on the Barack Obama Expressway (I-55) toward the Windy City.

“Operation At-Large is here to continue the mission we started in Los Angeles—to make the city safer by targeting and arresting criminal illegal aliens,” Bovino wrote.

“We are already going hard this morning!!! Many arrests,” he told Fox News.

Border Patrol sources told Fox News that Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem also arrived in the Land of Lincoln, overseeing a morning operation in the exurb of Elgin, Illinois.

A tactical team served a felony arrest warrant for illegal re-entry in one case, with sources saying that a roadblock led to the feds making an “explosive” entry into a home.

Noem posted a video showing a man being led out of a house in predawn hours, captioned by a reminder of a situation involving an ICE agent being dragged and severely injured by a vehicle driven by a criminal illegal immigrant who resisted arrest.

“President Trump has been clear: If politicians will not put the safety of their citizens first, this administration will,” she said.

“I was on the ground in Chicago today to make clear we are not backing down,” she said. “Just this morning, DHS took violent offenders off the streets with arrests for assault, DUI, and felony stalking. Our work is only beginning.”

ICE also arrested a violent gang member found guilty of murder charges after a maximum security prison outside Chicago declined to honor a federal detainer.

Stateville Correctional Center near Joliet, Illinois, released Aldo Salazar Bahena in line with Illinois sanctuary policies, and it took three days for ICE to find and arrest him themselves.

Salazar Bahena had been locked up for about 20 years but was released despite a 2016 order of removal signed by an immigration judge from the Justice Department.

The convict came to the U.S. as a lawful permanent resident in 1998 but never took action to become a citizen and instead retained Mexican citizenship.

Salazar Bahena was jailed in connection with the 2005 murder of Fernando Diaz Jr., who was accused of making disparaging comments about Salazar Bahena’s “Larazo” gang.

He was convicted in Kane County, Illinois, in 2016 and lost legal permanent status, leading to the judge ordering his removal.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., shared just a brief four-word response when a reporter asked him on Tuesday why he missed a congressional vigil for Charlie Kirk.

“I had a meeting,” Jeffries said when the matter was broached during his afternoon press conference.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., announced on Monday that Congress would hold a vigil later that evening to honor the conservative activist.

Kirk was assassinated last week when a gunman opened fire on him during a college campus speaking event in Utah.

Fox News Digital witnessed just a handful of House Democrats at the vigil, side by side with dozens of Republican lawmakers.

When asked why more Democrats did not attend, Jeffries said Tuesday, “I don’t know.”

“I guess you’d have to talk to the individual Democrats as to what else was going on and why they were present or why they weren’t present,” he said.

The vigil was held in the U.S. Capitol’s Statuary Hall in the 6 p.m. hour on Monday evening.

Democratic lawmakers who attended include Reps. Tom Suozzi, D-N.Y., Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, D-Wash., John Larson, D-Conn., Jimmy Panetta, D-Calif., Debbie Dingell, D-Mich., Chris Pappas, D-N.H., and Don Davis, D-N.C.

Notably absent were the top four House Democrats in senior leadership, including Jeffries.

Johnson, however, downplayed the lack of Democratic attendance in comments to reporters on Monday.

“I honestly did not even see the composition of the group,” he said when asked if he was disappointed in the number of Democrats who showed up.

“I’m glad it was bipartisan, and I wish more had participated, and I’m not sure why they didn’t. So I don’t know what else we can do other than offer an all-member bipartisan vigil. And we’ve done that routinely for other things.”

FBI director, Democrat senator clash over ‘harsh’ fitness standards of one pull-up

Democrat Sen. Mazie Hirono of Hawaii clashed with FBI Director Kash Patel during a heated Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday, questioning agency firing and counterterrorism priorities and even calling the bureau’s physical fitness requirements “harsh” for applicants.

In an exclusive statement to Fox News Digital, Patel said, “Americans expect their FBI agents to be capable, resilient and ready to protect them.

“That’s why, under my watch, every field office is receiving more trained agents, more boots on the ground and a renewed commitment to getting out from behind the desks and back onto the streets where they’re needed most. We’re rebuilding a bureau that earns the public’s confidence by being present, prepared and physically ready to do the job.”

The most viral clash came when Hirono pressed Patel on fitness standards.

‘MOST TRANSPARENT’ FBI EVER: PATEL UPDATES SENATE ON KIRK ASSASSINATION PROBE

“One question I had is that you are now requiring applicants to be able to do a certain kind of pull-ups, which a lot of women cannot because of physiological differences. Are you requiring these kinds of pull-ups?” Hirono asked.

Patel didn’t budge.

“We are requiring everybody to pass the 1811 standards at BFTC. If you want to chase down a bad guy, excuse me, and put him in handcuffs, you had better be able to do a pull-up.”

Hirono replied, “There are concerns about whether or not being able to do these kinds of harsh pull-ups is really required of FBI agents.”

KASH PATEL’S FBI LEADERSHIP UNDER SCRUTINY AHEAD OF SENATE JUDICIARY OVERSIGHT HEARING

Patel interjected, “Doing one pull-up is not harsh, and there are always medical exemptions to that.”

According to the FBI recruitment website, “Starting in November 2025, pull-ups will be a required event for all candidates.” For male recruits, 2-3 pull-ups are now a required minimum alongside the traditional Physical Fitness Test (PFT). For female candidates, one pull-up is the required minimum.

Any additional pull-ups count to a recruit’s overall PFT score, with the maximum points received for 20 or more pull-ups capped at 10.

The White House’s official X account, @RapidResponse47, shared the exchange in a now-viral clip on X.

Beyond fitness standards, Hirono accused Patel of being loyal to Trump rather than the FBI.

“Your most significant qualification … was your 100% loyalty to President Trump. And I fear that continues to be the motivating factor in your position as FBI director.”

Patel rejected that claim.

“That is an entire falsehood. You can delete my 16 years of government service to multiple administrations all you want. … There was no loyalty then. There’s no loyalty now to anything but the Constitution.”

Patel also used the hearing to share the bureau’s wins under his leadership. He pointed to 409 cyber arrests this year and 169 convictions, a 42% increase from the same time last year.

He also said FBI reassignments were part of a “surge of resources” to combat violent crime. On accusations of reassignments, Patel said, “They never left their primary job. It is a surge of resources in law enforcement working with the interagency to combat violent crime and reduce crime in historical proportions.”

Ellen DeGeneres has been accused of causing a 2023 car crash, according to a new complaint obtained by Fox News Digital.

A woman claims the former talk show host “t-boned” her vehicle at a four-way-stop intersection in Santa Barbara County.

DeGeneres’ “negligent conduct” allegedly caused or contributed to the plaintiff’s “serious personal injuries,” according to the complaint filed in Los Angeles County court.

ELLEN DEGENERES SLAMMED WITH FRESH ACCUSATIONS OF HOSTILITY TOWARD MEN BY FORMER TALK SHOW STAFF

Representatives for DeGeneres did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

On Oct. 16, 2023, the plaintiff claimed she was the restrained driver in her Tesla vehicle which was traveling northbound on Evans Avenue near the intersection of Ortega Hill Road, the complaint stated.

ROSIE O’DONNELL CALLS ELLEN DEGENERES FRIENDSHIP BETRAYAL ‘ONE OF THE MOST PAINFUL THINGS’ IN HER LIFE

“This intersection is controlled by stop signs in all directions. Plaintiff stopped for her stop sign,” according to the complaint. “She made sure there were no other vehicles at the intersection and it was her way to proceed.

“As she was proceeding straight through the intersection, suddenly and without any warning, plaintiff’s vehicle was t-boned from the right by the vehicle driven by Ellen Degeneres injuring” her, the filing states.

“Ellen Degeneres entered the intersection without stopping at the stop sign.”

The woman’s lawyer claimed that DeGeneres’ “negligent conduct fell below the standard of care of a reasonable person in that defendants negligently caused, or contributed to causing plaintiff’s vehicle to be collided with by the defendants’ vehicle.

“Defendants and their conduct was a substantial factor in causing plaintiff’s multiple serious personal injuries and damages stemming therefrom.”

The plaintiff is seeking compensation for lost wages, hospital and medical expenses, general damages and loss of earning capacity due to the incident.

The lawsuit also cited “loss of enjoyment of life, emotional distress and anxiety.”

Renewed criticism recently resurfaced against DeGeneres about her alleged toxic behavior on her long-running daytime talk show.

Last month, a former cameraman on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” accused the television host of fostering a hostile workplace in which staffers lived in fear and sometimes had to give up family commitments.

According to staffers, DeGeneres, 67, disliked male employees and allegedly turned cold when they interacted with her wife, actress Portia de Rossi, 52. Crew members also recalled what insiders called the infamous “Ellen gaze.”

One former staffer described the look as “a queen searching for her next execution,” adding, “She was terrifying.”

De Rossi was described as “nice” and approachable with the crew, but employees said their jobs felt at risk if DeGeneres saw them chatting with her spouse.

“You just hoped and prayed you weren’t seated by her wife, so you didn’t get her attention,” the ex-staffer told the Daily Mail.

The latest allegations revive the backlash that hit DeGeneres in 2020, when several ex-employees accused the show of racism, intimidation and retaliation.

DeGeneres apologized on-air at the time, saying she had been unaware of the environment.

The former TV show host and de Rossi have since moved to the U.K., with DeGeneres citing President Trump’s 2024 election victory as the reason.

Diabetes risk quadruples with use of popular natural remedy, study finds

Adults who consume cannabis are nearly four times more likely to develop type 2 diabetes than those who don’t, according to a new study.

Researchers led by Dr. Ibrahim Kamel from the Boston Medical Center in Massachusetts analyzed medical records from 54 healthcare organizations across the U.S. and Europe using the TriNetX Research Network.

They compared about 96,800 people with cannabis-related diagnoses, from casual users to those with dependency, to more than 4.16 million individuals who had no record of drug use or chronic illness.

DIABETES STUDY REVEALS DIAGNOSIS GAP AFFECTING MILLIONS OF PEOPLE

Over a five-year period, 2.2% of cannabis users developed type 2 diabetes, compared to just 0.6% of non-users.

Even after adjusting for other health risks like high blood pressure, cholesterol, heart disease and alcohol or cocaine use, marijuana users still faced a higher risk.

Experts say a possible explanation is that marijuana affects appetite, metabolism and insulin resistance. Cannabis use is often associated with poor eating habits, which may contribute to rising blood sugar levels over time.

CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

Given the increasing legalization of marijuana, it is often seen as an alternative to alcohol or tobacco, but the research suggests that its long-term risks could be more serious than many realize.

“As cannabis becomes more widely available and socially accepted and legalized in various jurisdictions, it is essential to understand its potential health risks,” Kamel stated in a press release.

The study does have some limitations, the researchers acknowledged. Its design is retrospective, meaning it looked back at patient records rather than tracking new cases over time. That makes it difficult to prove marijuana directly causes diabetes.

Additionally, someone who uses it occasionally may not face the same risks as someone who consumes it daily.

As the researchers pointed out, the study has the potential for bias, as it relied on people to self-report their cannabis use — even in places where it was illegal — and didn’t measure exactly how much they used.

Physicians may soon need to “routinely talk to patients about cannabis use so they can understand their overall diabetes risk and potential need for metabolic monitoring,” according to Kamel.

“These new sights from reliable, real-world evidence highlight the importance of integrating diabetes risk awareness into substance-use disorder treatment and counseling,” he added.

‘Save Women’s Sports’ activist ‘terrified’ after USA Cycling organizer berates her

Police in Livermore, California, are investigating an incident that occurred at a USA Cycling event Sunday, when organizers were seen berating a women’s sports activist who was inquiring about sex tests.

“At the moment, we are looking into the matter and are in the process of reviewing our report and video footage,” a Livermore Police Department spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

Footage of the interaction at USA Cycling’s Oakland Grand Prix has gone viral in recent days.

Beth Bourne, a California activist known to oppose biological male athletes in women’s and girls sports, was seen in the footage asking organizers if the women’s competitors at the event had been sex-tested to prove they were not male. One organizer was then seen approaching Bourne and covering her camera, saying, “We have policies in place. You can stop filming me.”

Bourne was then heard saying, “Give me my phone!”

The footage then showed Bourne walking away from that organizer in a panic before another organizer came up behind her to shout, “Hey! Get the f— out of here!”

Bourne told Fox News Digital that the incident was “emotional.”

“It was so unexpected. I have an idea that we’re going to have people maybe calling us names or maybe calling us TERFs, which we’ve had, maybe even grabbing our signs. But to have somebody come up from behind me, before I even, I hadn’t even gotten a sign out. I had just asked two or three questions, so that shocked me, I was scared,” Bourne said.

“I was actually terrified. I was terrified that this person might really, really hurt me.”

Additional footage of the incident showed the same organizer who yelled in Bourne’s face later putting a pizza box in front of her face, covering the view of Bourne’s camera, then picking up her protest signs and throwing them in the garbage.

Bourne alleged that the organizer told her, “Your God isn’t going to protect you.”

“‘You’re just a hateful, awful person'” he told Bourne, she alleged. “And then he grabs all my signs and takes them and puts them in the trash can next to the start and finish area. And, like, that’s insane to me, that someone would grab someone’s property and throw it in the trash can, and it would be the race organizer himself.”

The same event also drew scrutiny for another viral video of transgender cyclist Chelsea Wolfe telling protesters, “Go suck a sawed-off shotgun,” “You’re a Nazi piece of s—” and “We kill Nazis.”

Wolfe, a former Team USA alternate in women’s BMX who previously said the athlete wanted to win an Olympic medal to “burn the American flag,” took to social media to share multiple posts celebrating Charlie Kirk’s assassination last week.
