Border agents make $800K discovery in plastic bottles at Texas crossing
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Eagle Pass, Texas, intercepted nearly 90 pounds of liquid methamphetamine this week, uncovering the narcotics hidden inside plastic bottles during a vehicle inspection, officials said.
The discovery was made Oct. 29 at the Camino Real International Bridge when officers referred a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban for secondary inspection.
A closer search revealed five plastic bottles containing 88.8 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $816,556, CBP said in a statement.
“This significant seizure was possible because of the continued vigilance and alertness our CBP officers put forth on a daily basis,” Port Director Pete Beattie of the Eagle Pass Port of Entry said.
CBP officers seized the narcotics, and Homeland Security Investigations special agents opened a federal inquiry.

On social media, the agency struck a lighter note, posting photos of the evidence with the caption:

The pun-filled post quickly drew attention online, but officials emphasized the serious stakes behind the operation, calling the seizure part of an intensified effort to block synthetic drugs at South Texas ports of entry.

Liquid-form meth shipments have become increasingly common along the border, according to CBP data. The agency has reported several similar interdictions in recent months, including seizures at Laredo, Brownsville and Pharr involving narcotics concealed in vehicle compartments and household containers.
CBP said it will continue heightened inspections along the Eagle Pass corridor, where officers process thousands of commercial and passenger vehicles daily.

The agency urged the public to remain alert for smuggling activity and to report suspicious behavior through the CBP Tip Line or by contacting local authorities.
CBP did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for additional comment.
California city fights university’s plan to abandon historic football venue
The city of Pasadena, California, and the Rose Bowl Operating Company have reportedly sued UCLA for allegedly trying to move its college football games from one of the sport’s most iconic stadiums to the much newer SoFi Stadium.
The Los Angeles Times reported that the suit claims the university is “profoundly” betraying its trust by attempting to relocate its home games from the site the Bruins have called home for 43 years to the home of the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers.
The Times reported UCLA’s outside counsel, David L. Schrader, sent a letter to Pasadena attorney Nima Mohebbi in March, saying the school’s efforts to conduct “preliminary discussions” about relocating games did not constitute a “material breach” of its contract.

“This lawsuit arises in an era when money too often eclipses meaning and the pursuit of profit threatens to erase the very traditions that breathe life into institutions,” the suit claims. “Some commitments are too fundamental to be traded away.”
“The City expects UCLA will honor the terms of the [lease] agreement, and the City Council will do everything in its power to protect and defend the City’s contractual rights,” the city of Pasadena said in a statement to ESPN on Thursday.
“The City of Pasadena and the Rose Bowl Stadium, steadfast partners to UCLA for more than four decades, are extremely disappointed with UCLA’s attempt to terminate the lease.

UCLA’s current lease runs through 2044, but the stadium is 26 miles from campus, while SoFi Stadium, which opened in 2020, is about 12 miles away.
The Bruins (3-5, 3-2 Big Ten) have struggled with attendance in recent years. UCLA’s average attendance for its four home games is roughly 35,000. The stadium has a capacity of more than 89,000. SoFi Stadium’s capacity is about 20,000 fewer.

The school left the Pac-12 for the Big Ten last year along with USC, Washington and Oregon.
Rose Bowl Stadium is best known for hosting the Rose Bowl since 1922, in all but two years because of World War II and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mother claims taxpayers must feed her children as SNAP benefits face cuts
SNAP beneficiaries have expressed outrage on social media over the government shutdown that could affect their grocery benefits starting next month, and some are even threatening to ransack stores if food stamp payments don’t go through starting Nov. 1.
“It is the taxpayer’s responsibility to take care of my kids,” one emotional mother said in a video posted online. “It is the taxpayer’s job to pay for my kids to eat and for my kids to be taken care of.”
The same woman also complained about how none of her TikTok followers had sent her money, warning she would block anyone who viewed her videos without sending cash.

Fox News contributor Brett Cooper discussed the woman’s comments on her YouTube channel, calling the video “insane” before commenting, “That is [her] responsibility… It is not [the] American taxpayers fault that you have seven baby daddies who will not step up and help you pay the grocery bills.”

Another Walmart employee shared he “had to go home” because people entered the store “bum-rushing [and] stealing” before “running out the store” amid changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in November.

Cowboys coach abandons house to wife after owl flies into the living room
Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer had an unexpected visitor at his house on Thursday.
Schottenheimer, 52, found an owl flying around his living room.
“I’m in game-plan meetings last night doing some red zone stuff, and I leave the meeting about 10 o’clock. Amd I go back to my phone, and I literally had 72 text messages on my phone. Seventy-two. I’m a popular guy, so that’s nothing abnormal,” Schottenheimer told reporters on Friday.

“But it literally started with a text from my son to his mother saying, ‘Umm, there’s a big hawk-sized bird in here,’ and I began to look down, and there was an owl.”

“We’re not very outdoorsy people, and so he wasn’t really quite sure what to do. So, he called my soon-to-be nephew, who’s marrying my niece, and the two of them together, Frick and Frack, tried to figure it out. They couldn’t do it. All they did was piss it off. And, so, in typical coaching fashion, I called my wife, and I said, ‘Honey, I’m going to stay at the condo tonight, you got this,'” Schottenheimer said.

Eventually, animal control was called, and the owl was removed.
“The owl has been returned to its safe domain. … They called animal control. A gentleman came with a net, like a pool net. I might have to look at that as another job. Just kinda become an animal control guy. I’m so experienced now with wildlife in and around Dallas,” Schottenheimer said.
The owl was not the first encounter Schottenheimer has had with wildlife this season. Prior to the team’s first win of the season over the New York Giants in Week 2, he ran into an issue with snakes.

Two of his dogs were bitten by snakes earlier that week, but it turned into a Cowboys win. Schottenheimer called the owl a “good omen” and said he would be willing to keep an elephant in his garage if it meant a win for the Cowboys.

The move follows a formal notice served on Oct. 30, ordering Andrew to surrender the lease to Royal Lodge, after King Charles’ decision to revoke his brother’s remaining royal honors.
Andrew is expected to relocate to a property on the Sandringham estate, with any future accommodation privately funded by the King, according to People.
Fox News Digital has reached out to Buckingham Palace and Ferguson for comment.
Ferguson’s reported move comes as King Charles formally initiated the process to remove his brother’s remaining royal titles — a sweeping decision that effectively ends Andrew’s royal status.
In a statement released Thursday, Buckingham Palace confirmed that the King has “initiated a formal process to remove the ‘Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew.’”
Going forward, he will be known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the palace said.
“His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence,” the statement continued. “Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease, and he will move to alternative private accommodation.”

Sandringham, owned privately by the monarch, is expected to keep him “out of the public eye” and in a form of “exile,” royal author Anna Pasternak told the outlet.

Federal judge orders Trump administration to restore SNAP funding during shutdown
A federal judge on Friday ordered the Trump administration to continue to fund Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) during the ongoing government shutdown, delivering near-term relief to roughly 42 million Americans who received the aid just hours before the funding was slated to dry up.
The emergency order from U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani said the Trump administration must resume SNAP benefits, which were slated to expire Nov. 1, ruling that plaintiffs who filed the lawsuit are likely to succeed on their claims that the suspension of the benefits is unlawful. She ordered the government to provide the court no later than Monday, Nov. 3, with additional details on how it plans to keep the program funded, and whether the appropriated benefits must be distributed in full or in part.
Moments later, a separate federal judge in Rhode Island ordered the Trump administration to continue paying for food stamps during the shutdown.
U.S. District Judge John McConnell said the administration must tap its emergency funds to pay for the SNAP benefits “as soon as possible” next month. He issued the emergency order from the bench Friday during an emergency court hearing in Providence.

Talwani heard arguments Thursday from the Trump administration and from a coalition of 25 Democratic governors and state attorneys general, who sued the U.S. Department of Agriculture over its refusal to keep SNAP benefits funded during the ongoing government shutdown.
The benefits were slated to expire Nov. 1, marking the first time in 60 years that the program lapsed because of a government shutdown.
Talwani seemed sympathetic to the states’ arguments on Thursday. “It’s hard for me to understand how this isn’t an emergency when there’s no money and a lot of people need their SNAP benefits,” she said in court, vowing to rule as soon as possible on the matter.
She also agreed with the argument that the cuts to SNAP would be “devastating.”
State leaders said in the lawsuit that suspending the aid would disproportionately harm some tens of millions of vulnerable and low-income Americans in their states. “Because of USDA’s actions, SNAP benefits will be delayed for the first time since the program’s inception,” they said in the lawsuit, filed Tuesday.
“Worse still, USDA suspended SNAP benefits even though, on information and belief, it has funds available to it that are sufficient to fund all, or at least a substantial portion, of November SNAP benefits,” they added.
The lawsuit was filed several days after the Trump administration said last week that it would not use the Agriculture Department’s roughly $5 billion contingency fund to cover the food stamp benefits provided by SNAP for the month of November.

Instead, officials said, the agency is planning to keep it on hand to respond to natural disasters.
In the near-term, the states asked Talwani to order the Trump administration to release the USDA contingency funds to help ensure there is not a lapse in SNAP program benefits beginning Nov. 1.
“Shutting off SNAP benefits will cause deterioration of public health and well-being,” they said in the lawsuit.
The USDA, for its part, had not yet shared details on the policy decision or decision not to funnel the contingency funds to SNAP beneficiaries.
A note on its website stated simply that, “[T]he well has run dry.”

“At this time, there will be no benefits issued November 01,” the agency said.
The Justice Department has not yet said whether it will appeal either of the rulings to the First Circuit Court of Appeals.

Death row inmate who burned victim’s eyes chooses how he’ll face justice
A South Carolina death row inmate convicted of killing a man and writing a message to investigators with the victim’s blood more than 20 years ago elected on Friday to die by firing squad.
Stephen Bryant, 44, will be executed Nov. 14, making him the third man this year to die by South Carolina’s newest execution method, according to a report from the Associated Press.
Bryant had until Friday to choose if he wanted to die by lethal injection, firing squad or the electric chair.
South Carolina resumed executions in 2024 after an involuntary 13-year pause due to trouble obtaining lethal injection drugs. Since then, four inmates selected lethal injection and two died by firing squad.

Candles were lit around Tietjen’s body and the corner of a potholder was dipped in Tietjen’s blood and used to write “victem 4 in 2 weeks. catch me if u can” on a wall, according to officials.
Tietjen’s daughter called him six times, telling investigators on the final call, a strange voice answered and told her they killed Tietjen.

Prosecutors alleged Bryant also shot and killed two other men in October 2004, one prior to Tietjen’s death and one after.

Bryant’s lawyers said he was distressed before the killings, repeatedly asking for help as he struggled with trauma from being sexually abused by four male relatives as a child, according to the report. He allegedly tried to cope through drug use, including meth and bug-spray-laced joints.
