SEE IT: Student charged after allegedly hurling slurs at Barstool’s Dave Portnoy
A now-former Mississippi State University student has been charged with disturbing the peace after allegedly shouting an antisemitic slur at Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy during a video shoot in Starkville, officials said.
Police identified the suspect as 20-year-old Patrick McClintock, who was captured on video yelling “F— the Jews” at Portnoy outside a Starkville pizza shop on Friday, Nov. 7.
According to the Starkville Police Department, officers were notified that day about a viral video appearing to show an individual making antisemitic remarks and throwing coins toward another person outside a local business. The department launched an investigation and issued a warrant over the weekend.
On Monday, Nov. 10, McClintock was charged with disturbing the peace, a misdemeanor offense covering public disturbances or behavior that risks violence. He was later processed and released.

“Every person has the right to feel safe and respected in our community,” the Starkville Police Department said in a statement. “Offensive words alone are protected, but when behavior disrupts a public event or risks violence, we will take steps to help maintain safety and security.”
The incident occurred as Portnoy, who is Jewish, was filming one of his “One Bite” pizza reviews. In the video, a man can be heard shouting, “Hey, f— the Jews, f— you, Dave,” as Portnoy’s camera rolled.
Portnoy responded, “Why don’t you come in the camera, buddy?” Moments later, McClintock appeared to glare at him and shout, “Get the f— out of Starkville,” before witnesses and security intervened.

“He said, ‘F— the Jews,’ and threw s— at me,” Portnoy said afterward, according to video shared online.
Mississippi allows enhanced penalties for crimes motivated by bias or discrimination, and authorities said the case remains under investigation.
Following public backlash, Mississippi State University confirmed to Fox News Digital that McClintock voluntarily withdrew from the university on Monday afternoon.

The incident comes amid a broader rise in antisemitic incidents nationwide, which Portnoy addressed in a separate CBS News interview. He told CBS Sunday Morning co-host Tony Dokoupil that there has been a “definitive shift” in antisemitism and that he now faces hatred “every day.”
“I’ve seen in my own experience, just being Barstool, the difference between how much hate I get,” Portnoy said. “I mean, occasionally you get a k— or Jew or whatever. It’s every day now. Like there’s a definitive shift in what’s going on.”

GOP lawmaker tightens screws on Mamdani to force his hand on key promise on Day 1
A Republican New York City councilwoman is putting one of Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani’s campaign promises to the test by inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the city on Jan. 1 in an apparent challenge to Mamdani’s call to have the Jewish leader arrested.
Inna Vernikov, who represents the city’s 48th District, which encompasses a heavy Jewish population in southern Brooklyn, posted a letter on X on Tuesday inviting Netanyahu to New York City on the day Mamdani takes office.
The International Criminal Court (ICC), which the United States does not recognize, issued an arrest warrant in 2024 for Netanyahu over alleged “war crimes” in Gaza.
On the campaign trail, Mamdani has suggested he will arrest Netanyahu if the Jewish leader entered the city under his tenure.
MAMDANI’S TOP INCOMING AIDE WAS ‘CHIEF ARCHITECT’ OF RADICAL PROPOSAL OVERHAULING NYPD
“In recent months, there have been irresponsible and frankly absurd statements made by Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, who has campaigned on the promise of ‘arresting’ you upon setting foot in our city,” Vernikov, who is Jewish, wrote in her letter to Netanyahu.
“Whether individuals agree or disagree with your policies, you are the duly elected Prime Minister of the State of Israel: a democratic nation that stands as a beacon of hope, freedom, western values, resilience, and strength in a region surrounded by tyranny and terror.”
Fox News Digital reached out to the Mamdani campaign and Netanyahu’s office for comment.
BANK OF AMERICA CEO SEEKS ‘IMPORTANT’ MEETING WITH MAMDANI, SAYS NYC’S SUCCESS VITAL TO COMPANY
In a statement to Fox News Digital, Vernikov said, “From ‘free’ buses to arresting Bibi Netanyahu, all of Mamdani’s ideas are fantasies from a utopian pipe dream that will never become reality. The spoiled kids who voted for him are going to realize very quickly that Zohran Mamdani is a scam.”
Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., told the New York Times earlier this year that Mamdani’s proposal was “simply unrealistic.”
“The City of New York has no jurisdiction to do such a thing,” Nadler, a supporter of Mamdani, added.
Mamdani was convincingly elected mayor of New York City last week after bursting onto the political scene earlier in the year and was able to overcome heavy criticism from the Jewish community over his stances and statements related to Israel.

In late October, more than 650 rabbis signed onto a letter condemning Mamdani’s positions on Israel that were labeled aantisemitic by many of his critics.
“New Yorkers have spoken, electing Zohran Mamdani as the next Mayor of New York City. We recognize that voters are animated by a range of issues, but we cannot ignore that the Mayor-elect holds core beliefs fundamentally at odds with our community’s deepest convictions and most cherished values,” The UJA-Federation of New York, JCRC-NY, ADL New York/New Jersey, AJC New York and the New York Board of Rabbis said in a joint statement after Mamdani’s victory.
Since being elected, Mamdani has attempted to reassure skeptics in the Jewish community.
“We will build a City Hall that stands steadfast alongside Jewish New Yorkers and does not waver in the fight against the scourge of antisemitism,” Mamdani said on election night, adding the next day that he takes the issue of antisemtisim “incredibly seriously.”
Gymnastics star implies decision to rescind her Olympic medal was related to racism
U.S. Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles opened up about her thoughts on whether racism was a factor in the decision that led to her bronze medal from the 2024 Paris Olympics being rescinded.
During an interview on the “Baby, this is Keke Palmer” podcast, Chiles was asked if she “accepted” that she had “experienced racism” after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) overturned a score change that placed Chiles third on the women’s floor exercise medal podium, and knocking her down to fifth place.
“At first, I didn’t think of it in that way until I started almost literally getting racist comments and saying this and saying that and basically telling like people were telling me to kill myself and it got to a really, really tough point,” Chiles said in response.

Chiles was awarded third on the first ever women’s gymnastics Olympic podium that included three Black medalists, alongside U.S. teammate Simone Biles and Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade. Chiles now says that the “all-Black” podium was something that “people don’t like.”
“I had to get off of social media for a while. Because it was, you know, it was really hard to even see that, as an athlete, like, let alone an athlete, I’m up, there, yes, it’s an ‘all-Black’ podium, which is very rare, it’s obviously something that people don’t like.
“As being a woman of color, I started seeing it more. They didn’t want to see that, they didn’t want to see three beautiful Black women standing on that podium. They didn’t want to see the fact that we were just dominating. And I really took that to heart.”
Romania’s Ana Barbosu initially finished with a higher score than Chiles once the American finished her routine.
MYKAYLA SKINNER OPENS UP ON JOINING ‘SAVE WOMEN’S SPORTS’ MOVEMENT AFTER SIMONE BILES FEUD
At the end of the floor exercise final at the summer games in August, Barbosu clinched third place and a spot on the podium after judging initially finished. Barbosu was visibly thrilled when she saw the final scores.
But then, a U.S. coach spoke to the judges and appealed the scoring on one of Chiles’ moves. After review, Chiles’ score was bumped up, putting the American in third place, and leaving Barbosu off the podium. When Barbosu looked up and saw the scoring change on the board, she dropped the Romanian flag she was holding, covered her face with her hands and walked away in tears.
Chiles went on to accept the bronze medal and join Biles and Andrade on the podium.
Then, on the last day of the Olympics, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled that the Chiles appeal was submitted past the one-minute deadline, and changed her score to drop her back into fifth place. The next day, on Aug. 11, 2024, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) determined that Chiles must return the medal.
Chiles previously claimed she was facing “racially driven attacks” from social media users in a statement posted to X.
In her first sit-down interview after the incident occurred, she made similar comments.
“To me, everything that has gone on is not about the medal, it’s about, you know, my skin color,” Chiles said in a September 2024 interview during a panel at the Forbes Power Women’s Summit.
The controversy brought international scrutiny upon the judges who scored the event. CAS and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) released a joint statement condemning the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) and the judging crew for the outcome.
“If the FIG had put such a mechanism or arrangement in place, a great deal of heartache would have been avoided,” the CAS’ ad-hoc panel said in a release. “The Panel expresses the hope that the FIG will draw the consequences of this case, in relation to these three extraordinary Athletes and also for other Athletes and their supporting personnel, in the future, so that this never happens again.”
US WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS TEAM WINS FEWEST MEDALS AT A WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS SINCE 2001
Chiles and Team USA are currently involved in an appeal against the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for its decision.
Chiles’ lawyers have argued that her coach did in fact make the request in time and that there is video evidence to prove it, and have also indicated that the official who made the decision to strip Chiles’ medal had ties to Romania.
Chiles has also filed an appeal in the Swiss Federal Supreme Court to overturn the CAS decision. She argued that she was not given a fair opportunity to defend herself and that the CAS did not properly consider video evidence.
Barbosu received her bronze medal shortly after the Olympics ended, and expressed sympathy for her American opponent, as well as a Romanian teammate, Sabrina Maneca-Voinea, whose finish was also impacted by the back-and-forth scoring change.
“I can’t help but think about Sabrina and Jordan right now,” Barbosu said in a statement. “It’s a difficult situation for us, with so many uncertainties and overwhelming emotions. I hope everyone understands that we have not done anything wrong at the Olympics. And that the Olympic spirit is more important than any misunderstanding between the authorities.

Barbosu is currently competing in women’s gymnastics at Stanford, while Chiles is competing at UCLA. The two programs are set to face off on March 7.
‘Don’t do drugs’: Michael Jackson’s daughter shows permanent damage from abuse
Paris Jackson is getting brutally honest about the damage her past drug use caused.
The 27-year-old daughter of the late Michael Jackson stunned fans after she showed off a “perforated septum” in a candid TikTok video.
“I have a really loud whistle when I breathe through my nose,” Jackson said in the clip as she pointed her phone’s flashlight up her nose. “And that is because I have what is called a perforated septum,” she explained, noting it’s “slightly different from a deviated septum.”

“That is from what you think it’s from,” Jackson said, before adding, “Don’t do drugs, kids” and pointing directly at the camera.
The “American Horror Stories” actress admitted that her past drug use “ruined my life.”
She said she “didn’t recommend” taking drugs.
Jackson told fans she’s now six years sober but still lives with the consequences.
She further explained she has no plans to undergo surgery to fix her nose because “you have to take pills when you have a surgery that gnarly.”
Jackson said she’s had the condition since she was 20 — and that it can interfere with her music career.

Former president boards plane full of veterans and leaves them speechless
Former President Barack Obama surprised a group of veterans in a heartfelt moment after they touched down on a flight into Washington, D.C., ahead of Veterans Day to visit memorials honoring their fellow service members.
Obama boarded the plane just before the group of World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans were about to disembark for their tour, and he took to the plane’s intercom to thank them for their sacrifice in serving the country.
“Hello, everybody,” Obama said from the front of the plane, drawing gasps from the veterans who had traveled from Madison, Wisconsin. The interior of the plane was filled with American flags and red, white and blue streamers.
TRUMP RALLIES US MILITARY’S MIGHT, FLOATS ARMED FORCES PAY RAISE IN ADDRESS TO TROOPS IN JAPAN
“What!” exclaimed one person, while another veteran in a red cap and jacket could be seen in disbelief with his mouth wide open. The emotional greeting was captured in a video posted to Obama’s X account.
“As we approach Veterans Day, I just wanted to stop by and say thank you for your extraordinary service,” the former president continued as the veterans looked on in astonishment.
“To you, your family — the sacrifices that you all made to protect our country is something that will always be honored, and we are very grateful,” he added.
Obama could then be seen shaking hands with every veteran as they exited the aircraft at Reagan National Airport, presenting each with a presidential challenge coin — a tradition in which presidents give coins as a symbol of appreciation for service or contributions to the nation.
THIS VETERANS DAY, LET’S DO MORE THAN JUST SAY ‘THANK YOU’ TO OUR NATION’S HEROES
“Ahead of Veterans Day, I was honored to welcome a flight of veterans and their families as they arrived in D.C.,” Obama said in the X post.
“To all those who bravely served our country, thank you to you and your family for your extraordinary service,” he added. “The sacrifices that all of you made to protect our country will be honored today and every day.”
The veterans were aboard a flight organized by Honor Flight, a nonprofit launched in 2005 that provides free trips to Washington, D.C., memorials for veterans. The group operates in 46 states, has transported more than 300,000 veterans and is funded entirely by donations and volunteers, according to its website.
The veterans were met at the arrivals gate by streams of well-wishers.
“I had tears in my eyes,” said Army veteran Joe Parr. “I just couldn’t believe that there were that many people around who remembered us and were there to greet us. It was just unbelievable.”
Capt. Mary Quigley, a U.S. Navy veteran and volunteer, said it was the first time she had seen a president greet one of the flights.
“A leader who’s going to show up and tell you that your service was worth something — I think that’s the important part — so I think it was a great thing,” Quigley said.
Quigley said it was important that veterans are welcomed and acknowledged for their sacrifice, noting that many who returned home from past wars weren’t offered the same ovation.
“Back then, you got off the plane, and you had no welcome, and people were almost booing you,” said U.S. Army veteran Greg Adkins.

U.S. Navy veteran Nels Swenson echoed those sentiments.
“I’m real happy that now, with current troops, they come back from deployments and they get welcomed back really nicely — because that’s what should happen,” Swenson said. “So it’s being recreated in this flight. It makes me feel good.”
Seventy-nine veterans and their families made the trip, according to reports.
‘The View’ host confronts Fetterman over controversial government shutdown vote
“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin pressed Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., on Tuesday on why he voted to end the government shutdown, accusing him of bringing “a butter knife to a gunfight.”
Hostin quoted Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., who both criticized the decision by eight senators to vote to end the shutdown. She also said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., “blamed the GOP.”
“As you mentioned, Democrats had big wins last week, so you had momentum. Why give in now? Why bring a butter knife to a gunfight? Are you willing to gamble that the GOP will negotiate on healthcare in good faith once the government reopens? Because if that gamble is wrong, half a million Pennsylvanians that you represent, their healthcare costs will skyrocket if you are wrong,” Hostin said. “I believe you are wrong.”
Fetterman has consistently voted with the GOP senators to reopen the government throughout the 41-day shutdown. He was joined by seven other senators on Monday — Sens. Angus King, I-Maine, Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., Jacky Rosen, D-Nev., Tim Kaine, D-Va., and the number two Democrat in the Senate, Dick Durbin, D-Ill., who all voted on an updated CR that would end the shutdown.
‘THE VIEW’ CO-HOST RAILS AGAINST DEMOCRATS AFTER ENDING SHUTDOWN, SAYS CHUCK SCHUMER’S ‘DAYS ARE OVER’
“MTG is quite literally the last person in America that I’m going to take advice or to get their kinds of my leadership and values from. Now, if Democrats are celebrating crazy pants like that, then that’s on them. Now, I don’t need a lecture from, whether it’s Bernie or the governor in California, because they are representing very deep-blue kinds of populations and a lot of those things were part of the extreme,” Fetterman said.
The Pennsylvania senator said he wanted to quote Virginia Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger, who said Sunday that the Democrats’ election wins last week should not be seen as permission to keep the government closed.
“Forty-two million Americans now are not sure where their next meal is going to come from, and because we vote like that. Or people that haven’t been paid for five weeks now, and that kinds of chaos. Those workers borrow more than half a billion dollars from their credit union just to pay their bills,” Fetterman said.
DEMOCRATIC SENATOR STANDS FIRM AFTER DEFYING PARTY, SAYS IT’S TIME TO ‘TURN THE GOVERNMENT BACK ON’
The Democratic senator argued throughout the interview that the shutdown was fundamentally wrong.
“I refuse to weaponize the SNAP benefit for 42 million Americans that rely on feeding themselves and their family, or making flying in America, you know, less safe, or I refuse not to pay our military and all of the unions attached to all of this, and people. So for me it’s like I don’t agree with that tactic to respond to circumstances that we’re confronting on this,” he added.
On Monday, Hostin criticized senators in the Democratic caucus for supporting the move to end the shutdown. The liberal co-host said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s days were “over” and that he needed to be replaced for not being able to control his members.

Texas progressive spends eye-popping cash on luxury hotels, travel as Senate rumors grow
FIRST ON FOX: Federal Election Commission filings show that progressive Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, spent nearly $75,000 on luxury hotels, transportation and security this year in cities across the U.S.
Crockett’s filings show luxury hotel and transportation expenses in Martha’s Vineyard, Chicago, New York City, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, among other major cities despite representing Texas’ 30th Congressional District, which includes Dallas.
In total, Crockett’s filings show her campaign spending $25,748.87 since January on high-end hotels and limousine services.
The hotel expenses include $4,175.01 at the Ritz-Carlton and $2,304.79 at The Luxury Collection. Other hotel expenses include $5,326.52 to the West Hollywood Edition in Los Angeles, $1,173.92 to the Times Square Edition in New York City, over $2,000 to the Cosmopolitan and Aria resort in Las Vegas and $2,703.14 to the Edgartown Inn and $3,160.93 at The Coco, both in Martha’s Vineyard.
JASMINE CROCKETT DOWNPLAYS JAY JONES’ MURDEROUS TEXTS AS A ‘DISTRACTION’
Additionally, Crockett’s campaign paid Chicago-based limousine service Transportation 4 U $2,728.00 for travel, as well as $2,310.30 to DCA Car LLC, a premium car and limousine service, and $1,254.00 to Bay Area Limousine.
In its client gallery on Yelp, Transportation 4 U, which says it specializes in providing “top-tier limousine experiences tailored to your needs,” posted a picture of Crockett with the caption: “We were honored to provide transportation services for Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett during her visit to Chicago.” Crockett is pictured smiling and dressed casually in a red sweater.
In that same time frame, Crockett’s campaign also spent nearly $50,000 on security expenses despite repeatedly calling for defunding the police. In 2021, while Crockett was serving in the Texas House of Representatives, she said, “The Defund movement seeks to actually bring about healing and finally invest in our communities to make them safer, addressing the root causes of crime and by allowing the professionals to do their respective jobs. Defund is about finally being smart on crime. Defund is about lightening the load for our offices of all things they didn’t sign up for. Defund is about finally being fiscally responsible when it comes to policing in this state.”
Fox News Digital reached out to Crockett for comment on the expenses but did not receive a response by the time of publication.
TEXAS REP JASMINE CROCKETT WEIGHS SENATE BID AFTER REDISTRICTING THREATENS HOUSE SEAT
Crockett, one of the most recognizable and outspoken members of the Democratic Party, has said she is “seriously weighing” a possible run for the U.S. Senate against Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas.
Speaking with Politico in October, Crockett said, “I am seriously weighing it to the extent that I’m about to spend a lot of money to get data.”
Crockett said she has already had conversations with a possible campaign leader and that her decision on whether to run will depend on what the data is and who the Republican nominee will be.
Currently, Cornyn, who is running to serve a fifth term, is in a bitter primary battle against Texas Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton and Houston-area Rep. Wesley Hunt.
Crockett has been embroiled in several controversies this year, perhaps most notably her attacking Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, who is paraplegic and uses a wheelchair, “Governor Hot Wheels.”
‘VERY TALENTED’: HARRIS REVEALS JASMINE CROCKETT WAS PART OF ‘SECRET PROJECT’ OF LAWMAKERS SHE WAS MENTORING
“Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there – come on now! And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot a– mess, honey,” Crockett said.
Crockett later said her statements were misinterpreted and that she was not mocking Abbott’s disability.
She said in a statement posted on X, “I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition—I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable.”
This statement surfaced as Crockett was already facing heavy criticism for other recent statements calling for Elon Musk to be “taken down” and for Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, to be “knocked over the head, like hard.”
In addition to that comment, Crockett recently came to the defense of Jay Jones, the Democratic Virginia Attorney General-elect who ignited a firestorm after his texts that privately fantasized about murdering a Republican lawmaker surfaced.

“And I was very excited to see that he was able to pull off the win. Not that I know him – I’ve never met him, I’ve never talked to him – but because it seems like people did not get caught up in the distractions,” Crockett told host Roland Martin.
“Listen, there were still Democrats that were talking about it,” she continued. “And my deal was, say what you got to say, denounce what he did, but in this moment, do you trust this Republican attorney general to stand up when it is the state legislature that decides that they need to fight fire with fire and give us more seats out of Virginia to go to the U.S. House because they’re trying to balance out this power struggle that Trump is on?”
McDonald’s brings back divisive fan-favorite — and the internet is split
The cult-favorite McRib sandwich officially returned to certain McDonald’s on Tuesday, marking another comeback for the legendary limited-time menu item that has divided fans for over four decades.
The tangy barbecue sandwich — seasoned boneless pork slathered in sauce and topped with pickles and onions on a toasted bun — has been tracked by fans since its debut in 1981.
Internet sleuths on Reddit claimed they first spotted a McRib promo sign alongside other upcoming McDonald’s items, and fan site McRib Locator later claimed the nationwide comeback was set for Nov. 11, according to reports. It also comes slightly earlier than the holiday slot the meaty menu item typically gets.
WORLD’S OLDEST MCDONALD’S QUARTER POUNDER TURNS 30 AND IS STILL ‘EERILY INTACT’
“The mysterious McRib is making an appearance at this McDonald’s starting today,” some local McDonald’s locations posted online.
“Don’t experience FOMO — come get yours today because the McRib won’t be around forever!”
McDonald’s senior marketing director Guillaume Huin confirmed on X that the McRib would be available at “most” U.S. locations, calling it the brand’s “most-mentioned limited-time product online.”
Participating cities include Miami, Dallas, Cleveland, St. Louis, Atlanta, Chicago, Seattle and Los Angeles, Axios reported.
MOM GIVES BIRTH IN MCDONALD’S PARKING LOT, AND PEOPLE ARE LOVIN’ THE BABY’S NICKNAME
As of Monday night, some customers were already finding the sandwich available to order in the McDonald’s app across multiple regions, according to the outlet, while others said online that they’d purchased one last week.
Recent listings on McRib Locator, which crowdsources sightings, prices and receipt photos to confirm where the sandwich is being served, show prices ranging from $5.49 in Atlanta to nearly $7 in Seattle. On Reddit, an Oregon resident reported getting one for $4.99, while others slammed high prices.
Nonetheless, some fans were McLovin’ the news.
“I got one yesterday and almost cried out of happiness,” one person said on Reddit.

“I’m always looking forward to the McRib time of year,” added someone else.
In a Reddit group dedicated to McDonald’s, a user said, “I love this news and my cardiologist will not.”
It’s “mystery meat at its finest.”
“If you like saucy BBQ and simple sandwiches, the McRib is, in my opinion, good,” another Redditor wrote. “But the sauce, for me, is pretty high in sodium. Or during a few iterations it has been. So, I have to keep in check how many I eat.”
Other people were less enthusiastic about the news. It’s “mystery meat at its finest,” someone said in the Reddit community New Fast Food.

Another said the McRib is good in the way that a TV steak dinner is good.
“No, it’s not actually good, but there’s something craveable about it that makes you want one every once in a while.”
Others argued it’s all “hype and disappointment” — or that it is not as good as it used to be.
The McRib’s periodic returns, which are often referred to as “farewell tours,” have become part of its years-long mystique ever since it was first pulled from menus in 1985 due to low sales, according to reports.

Some analysts point to pork-shoulder cost fluctuations as part of why the sandwich comes and goes. When pork prices drop — typically in the fall, after the summer grilling season — it becomes cheaper for McDonald’s to produce the McRib.
And McRib’s appearances have taken on a life of their own beyond fast food.
Market watchers and crypto traders have jokingly dubbed it an omen, claiming that Bitcoin and the S&P 500 have rallied after past McRib comebacks, Huin said in his X post.
“Funnily enough and entirely independent of McDonald’s involvement, the McRib has recently found new meaning on the internet within the trading and crypto community, as some claim Bitcoin and S&P 500 tend to perform well after the McRib makes a comeback, particularly in 2017, 2020, 2021.”

“Coincidentally, when the McRib returned to stores in December 2024, Bitcoin hit a new all-time high,” he added.

Common cleaning chemical tied to spike in liver disease across US, researchers say
Exposure to a common chemical used in dry cleaning and some consumer products has been linked to triple the risk of a dangerous liver disease, a new study suggests.
Tetrachloroethylene (PCE), which is also used in some adhesives, spot cleaners and stainless steel polish, was associated with three times greater odds of significant liver fibrosis in U.S. adults, according to research from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California.
Liver fibrosis is a buildup of scar tissue that can progress to liver cancer, liver failure or death, a press release stated.
DAN MARINO’S METABOLIC LIVER DISEASE HIGHLIGHTS GROWING HEALTH CONCERN
The researchers also identified a dose-response relationship — meaning greater exposure to PCE led to a higher likelihood of developing liver fibrosis.
To arrive at the findings — published in the journal Liver International — the team analyzed data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), a nationally representative survey of the U.S. population.
To measure PCE exposure, the team analyzed blood samples in 1,614 adults aged 20 and older between 2017 and 2020, finding that about 7% of the population had detectable levels of the chemical, the release stated.
Next, the group looked at which individuals with PCE in their blood showed signs of significant liver fibrosis. Those exposed to the chemical were three times more likely to have notable liver fibrosis than those without exposure.
AIR POLLUTION MAY PLAY A BIGGER ROLE IN COGNITIVE DECLINE THAN ANYONE REALIZED
“We were surprised that so many people have detectable PCE in their blood, and that the link with liver scarring was so strong,” lead author Brian P. Lee, M.D., hepatologist and liver transplant specialist with Keck Medicine of USC, told Fox News Digital.
“Since prior studies have mainly focused on people who are exposed to PCE for work (e.g. work at the dry cleaners), I think people will be surprised by their exposure, even when they don’t directly work with PCE.”
“No doubt there are other toxins in our environment besides PCE that are dangerous to the liver.”
People from higher-income households were most at risk of PCE exposure, the study found.
“People with higher incomes may be more likely to use dry cleaning services, which could increase their exposure to PCE,” said Lee.
“However, people who work in dry cleaning facilities may also face elevated risk due to prolonged, direct exposure to PCE at work.”
Other health factors such as alcohol consumption and obesity-related liver fat accumulation did not seem to contribute to significant liver fibrosis when PCE was detected in the blood.
“Patients will ask, how can I have liver disease if I don’t drink and don’t have any of the health conditions typically associated with liver disease — and the answer may be PCE exposure,” said Lee.
PCE risks and regulations
In addition to liver disease risk, long-term PCE exposure has been linked to neurological impairment, mood and behavior changes, kidney damage, developmental and immune system effects, and heightened cancer risk, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
Short-term exposure could lead to upper respiratory irritation, neurological symptoms (dizziness, headaches, fatigue and impairment) and kidney dysfunction.

Pregnant women and children are particularly vulnerable to the developmental effects, per the EPA.
Under the Toxic Substances Control Act, the EPA determined that PCE presents an “unreasonable risk” under certain use conditions.
In December 2024, the EPA issued a Final Rule restricting the “manufacture, import, processing, distribution, use and disposal” of PCE for many applications.
In January 2025, the agency released compliance guidance for dry-cleaning and energized electrical cleaning.

“In 2024, the EPA announced a ban on PCE for consumer and commercial uses with a 10-year phaseout — however, this ban is now being reconsidered,” Lee told Fox News Digital. “This current study provides data to inform policymakers.”
Study limitations
The authors noted several limitations of the USC study.
Because it was cross-sectional and looked at PCE levels at one point in time, it couldn’t prove a causal relationship between chemical exposure and liver fibrosis.

The findings also may not apply to people in other countries, as the study included only U.S. adults, the researchers added.
More research is needed to confirm the role of environmental toxins in liver disease risk, the authors acknowledged.
“No doubt there are other toxins in our environment besides PCE that are dangerous to the liver,” Lee added.
The hope is that this research will help improve patient outcomes.

“Liver disease is growing in the United States at an alarming rate — the problem is that liver disease doesn’t normally cause symptoms until you have very advanced disease,” Lee said.
“Knowing the contributors to liver disease — on top of alcohol, diabetes and being overweight — can help you know whether you need to talk to your doctor about getting screened.”
