DNC staff slam ‘callous’ return-to-office rule leading to online mockery

Democratic National Committee employees were mercilessly mocked this week after news came out that staffers were very unhappy with a recent directive from DNC Chairman Ken Martin  end to remote work for employees who will now be required to show up to the office five days a week.

Leadership of the union representing DNC employees put out a statement following news of the new directive, describing it as “callous.” Reports from those on the staff-wide call also described an immediate flurry of thumbs-down emojis and other signs of anger upon news of the new requirement.

“It was shocking to see the DNC chair disregard staff’s valid concerns on today’s team call,” they wrote. “D.N.C. staff worked extremely hard to support historic wins for Democrats up and down the ballot last Tuesday, and this change feels especially callous considering the current economic conditions created by the Trump administration.” Martin reportedly told employees that if they don’t like the new policy, they should go find a job elsewhere.

And Martin wasn’t the only Democrat who had some harsh and pointed words for the Democratic Party staffers. Neera Tanden, former President Joe Biden’s domestic policy advisor, had a similar message for DNC staffers, suggesting there were many eager folks waiting in line who would likely be more than willing to go into the office.

PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS TURN ON PARTY LEADERSHIP AFTER GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN ENDS WITHOUT HEALTHCARE GUARANTEES

“If you think democracy is on the line – working in the office is not a big ask,” Tanden wrote in a post on X. “And there are plenty of other people willing to step up. Get yourselves together people.”

A left-wing group, the Center for New Liberalism, echoed the view that the staffers “should look elsewhere” if working from home is a “must-have.”

“When you accept a job on a campaign, or with an org like the DNC, DCCC, etc, your single purpose is to win the election. It is a demanding job that requires long hours & sacrifices,” the group wrote on X. “The other part of this is that I suspect [work from home] staff are probably losing opportunities for themselves by not being in the office. Campaigns require a lot of personal sacrifice, but the people who are good at their job and work to make themselves noticed in the office usually tend to go on to do big things!”

One Florida-based Democratic strategist, Steve Schale, who led Barack Obama’s statewide efforts in Florida in 2008 and returned to help his campaign in 2012, said the DNC should implement a “requirement” to ensure those who want to work at the DNC really have what it takes.

“There should be a requirement that to work at the DNC that you’ve done at least two cycles on an actual battleground campaign, where terms like flex hours & hybrid work don’t exist,” Schale wrote on X.

6 HOUSE DEMOCRATS EXPLAIN BREAKING WITH PARTY TO END SHUTDOWN

Meanwhile, Republicans did not spare the opportunity to slam Democratic Party staffers as well.

“You can’t make this up — the DNC union is pissed that the Chairman is calling staff back into the office 5 days a week,” former Trump White House press secretary, Sean Spicer, said after learning of the anger. GOP strategist, Matt Gorman, quipped that the image of DNC staffers logging onto a Zoom call in their pajamas amid all the chaos of Biden’s reelection “is hilarious.”

“The best part is that they still get two full months before they actually have to get out of bed 5 days week,” GOP National Press Secretary Kiersten Pels said. “Is this a political committee or a daycare?”

Martin reportedly told his employees that the work-from-home policy the DNC implemented during COVID was never meant to be permanent, describing it as a “Band-Aid” that has long needed to be ripped off. He did say that remote work would still be allowed on a case-by-case basis, however.

The staffer’s union said it is considering all options in terms of challenging the measure. The group previously ratified a collective bargaining agreement with the DNC over the summer that “reaffirms its commitment to making hybrid work available,” but also includes language that allows for a full return to in-person working as long as there is a 60-day notice period, according to the New York Times.

Earlier this year, the Congressional Progressive Staff Association sent a letter to top House and Senate leaders proposing a rotating 32-hour work week for congressional staffers, arguing it would be a more “sustainable approach to work on a national level.”

The proposal was widely mocked, however.

“Why not be bold and ask for a 0-hour workweek?” quipped Rep. Ritchie Torres, D-N.Y., at the time. “I wonder how blue-collar Americans would feel about white-collar workers demanding a 32-hour workweek.”

Mark Wahlberg’s daughter Grace is on the road to recovery, after a frightening horseback-riding accident.

“The Family Plan 2” actor shared an emotional update and said Grace is already determined to get back on her horse.

“She’s doing great,” Wahlberg told Access Hollywood before recalling the moment he learned of the accident.

“It’s a very, very dangerous sport, but she’s so passionate about it,” he said. “All she wanted to do was get back on that horse — no pun intended. But she was chomping at the bit and worried that we would deem the sport too dangerous. But she’s so passionate, so dedicated.”

Grace, who shares her dad’s signature drive, has spent years crafting her skills as a competitive equestrian.

Wahlberg continued to praise her determination and work ethic, calling her “so disciplined.”

“[She’s got the] discipline of getting up at 4 o’clock every morning, going to the barn seven days a week, doing whatever she has to do to care for the horses, and training and everything,” Wahlberg said proudly.

“I kind of adopted that discipline when I became a parent,” he shared. “For her to have it at such a young age…” Wahlberg paused before acknowledging again how “very, very scary” the incident had been for him as a father.

Last week, Grace shared on Instagram that she’d been hospitalized after the accident.

MSNBC host makes stunning on-air slip about Trump during Epstein email segment

MSNBC host Jen Psaki accidentally suggested that President Donald Trump was a “predator” on her show Wednesday before quickly taking it back.

While speaking to Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., about newly released emails from convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein that mentioned Trump, Psaki referred to other “predators” tied to Epstein “in addition to Trump” before she amended her statement.

“You’re talking about the other predators that are out there in addition to Trump,” Psaki said, quickly adding, “Not that — I’m not saying he is. We don’t know all the details about that.”

EPSTEIN VICTIMS SET TO BREAK SILENCE AMID BIPARTISAN PUSH TO RELEASE FILES: ‘PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE OUTRAGED’

“I just mean, in addition to what we’ve learned about Epstein and others, there’s other predators out there,” she said.

“There are,” Garcia replied.

Psaki did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

On Tuesday, Democratic members of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee released tens of thousands of additional pages of documents from Epstein, the convicted sex offender who died by suicide in 2019. Emails included in the files referenced Trump.

In a 2011 email to his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein said Trump had spent a prolonged time at his house with one of the victims, whose name was redacted by Democrats. The White House said the unnamed individual was Virginia Giuffre.

“I want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is Trump. [VICTIM] spent hours at my house with him, has never once been mentioned,” Epstein wrote in the email.

HOUSE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE RELEASES THOUSANDS OF EPSTEIN DOCUMENTS

Democratic lawmakers, including Garcia, have argued that the emails indicate that Trump had a closer relationship with Epstein than he has previously acknowledged.

During his interview with Psaki, Garcia accused Trump of “hiding” details of the Epstein case from the public to protect men who allegedly abused girls connected to Epstein’s trafficking network.

“We want to know the truth there. But there are powerful men right now walking free that have raped girls and that there have been no consequences. And it is outrageous that Donald Trump is hiding this, hiding the facts — that the Department of Justice is hiding the facts — and that Mike Johnson and Republicans are complicit in supporting what Donald Trump is doing,” he said.

The White House accused Democratic lawmakers of leaking the emails to smear Trump.

“The Democrats selectively leaked emails to the liberal media to create a fake narrative to smear President Trump,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“The ‘unnamed victim’ referenced in these emails is the late Virginia Giuffre, who repeatedly said President Trump was not involved in any wrongdoing whatsoever and ‘couldn’t have been friendlier’ to her in their limited interactions,” she added. “The fact remains that President Trump kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his club decades ago for being a creep to his female employees, including Giuffre.”

The uniform had features a fan wouldn’t be able to see by the naked eye. There was a hidden message inside the collar. On red fabric, the words “We Are All Patriots” were stitched into white lettering.

“At the heart of the look is a deep Storm Blue base – rugged, weathered, and worn in, like the coastline after a gale,” an infographic on the Patriots’ website said. “The color reflects both the unforgiving power of the nor’easters and the perseverance of the people who face them head-on.”

The U.S. Coast Guard announced Thursday it detected a Russian military spy vessel operating near U.S. territorial waters Oct. 29, and personnel are continuing to monitor the ship.

Officials said the Vishnya-class intelligence ship was about 15 nautical miles south of Oahu, prompting a response by the Coast Guard HC-130 Hercules from Air Station Barbers Point and the Coast Guard Cutter William Hart.

The Coast Guard responded to the Russian Federation Navy Auxiliary General Intelligence ship, Kareliya, by conducting a safe and professional overflight and transiting near the vessel, according to a news release.

Acting in accordance with international law, the Coast Guard said personnel are monitoring the vessel’s activities near U.S. territorial waters to provide maritime security for U.S. vessels operating in the area.

Coast guardsmen will also monitor the vessel to support U.S. homeland defense efforts.

“The U.S. Coast Guard routinely monitors maritime activity around the Hawaiian Islands and throughout the Pacific to ensure the safety and security of U.S. waters,” Capt. Matthew Chong, chief of response for the Coast Guard Oceania District, wrote in a statement.

“Working in concert with partners and allies, our crews monitor and respond to foreign military vessel activity near our territorial waters to protect our maritime borders and defend our sovereign interests.”

The Vishnya-class is a group of intelligence collection ships built for the Soviet Navy in the 1980s, according to the U.S. Army website. There are seven ships still in service with the Russian Navy.

They are large, purpose-built vessels designed for signals intelligence gathering via an extensive array of sensors, according to the site. Data can be transmitted to shore via satellite link antennas.

While the ships are designed for intelligence gathering, they are armed with two AK-630 close-in weapon systems and SA-N-8 surface-to-air missile (SAM) launchers, for last resort self-defense, according to the Army.

Coast Guard Oceania District works in conjunction with U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and interagency partners to constantly monitor the activity of foreign military vessels operating near U.S. territorial waters to ensure homeland security and defense.

Under customary international law, foreign military vessels are permitted to transit and operate outside other nations’ territorial seas, which extend up to 12 nautical miles from shore.

The Coast Guard did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Judge orders mass ICE release after finding DHS broke 2021 decree

A federal judge in Chicago has ordered the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to release more than 600 illegal immigrants held at a suburban detention center, blasting the agency for “repeated, material violations” of a court-approved consent decree that limited who could be detained under U.S. immigration law.

U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Cummings ruled that more than 600 detainees being held at the Broadview ICE center must be released “on bond and into ICE’s Alternatives to Detention (ATD) program” by Nov. 21, citing what he called a “pattern of unlawful arrests and confinement.”

The order stems from Margarito Castañon Nava v. DHS, a class-action lawsuit claiming federal agents unlawfully detained hundreds of migrants who were not subject to mandatory detention or final removal orders, a direct violation of a 2021 Biden-era decree inherited by the Trump administration.

In the ruling, Cummings accused DHS of holding migrants in “unsafe and unsanitary” conditions, saying detainees had been kept in overcrowded buildings “next to overflowing toilets.” The judge further said the department’s recent reversal on detention authority represented a “180-degree change” from previous legal interpretations.

JUDGE ALLOWS ICE TO CONTINUE COURTHOUSE ARRESTS IN NEW YORK CITY FOLLOWING LEGAL CHALLENGE

The decision could force the largest single-day release of ICE detainees in Illinois in years, freeing hundreds arrested during “Operation Midway Blitz,” a Trump enforcement sweep that immigration activists claim traumatized communities across the Chicago area.

“Today was a good day as the court ordered the immediate release of 13 people who have been wrongfully arrested and detained by federal immigration officials,” said Michelle Garcia, deputy legal director at the ACLU of Illinois. “More than 600 others may soon walk free as the court enforces our agreement with the federal government — a step toward accountability for years of unlawful arrests.”

But DHS officials sharply condemned the ruling, accusing the court of undermining national security and law enforcement.

TRUMP SAYS CHICAGO CRIME HAS FALLEN DRAMATICALLY DESPITE ‘EXTRAORDINARY RESISTANCE’ FROM LOCAL DEMOCRATS

“At every turn, activist judges, sanctuary politicians and violent rioters have actively tried to prevent our law enforcement officers from arresting and removing the worst of the worst,” Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary for Public Affairs at DHS, told Fox News Digital.

“Now an activist judge is putting the lives of Americans directly at risk by ordering 615 illegal aliens be released into the community.”

Three NYPD officers heroically rescued a teenage girl from drowning in the freezing waters of the Harlem River Tuesday after hearing her screams for help.

Bodycam video released by the NYPD shows the officers calling out to the girl, asking if she could swim, as she struggled in the frigid water near 142nd Street around 2 p.m. local time.

The dramatic video also captures one officer removing his jacket and leaping into the river to reach the distressed teen, who was about 20 feet from shore.

According to the New York Post, the officers were identified as Ankit Gupta, Wilmer Guerrero, and Shuaibul Amine, and are members of the 32nd Precinct in Uptown Manhattan.

They were praised Thursday for their quick response and teamwork.
