Military veterans in Congress tell troops to defy commands in viral video
A group of Democrat lawmakers with military and intelligence backgrounds released a video Tuesday urging service members to “refuse illegal orders,” a message conservatives blasted as a call to defy President Donald Trump and his Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.
The one-minute video, posted by Sen. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., and viewed more than 1.6 million times, features six lawmakers invoking their prior service while telling members of the military and intelligence community that “the threats to our Constitution are coming from right here at home.”
Slotkin and her colleagues have spent recent weeks introducing legislation to limit President Trump’s ability to deploy National Guard members domestically or launch military action against narcoterrorists without congressional approval.
None of that context appears in the video, titled “Don’t Give Up the Ship,” which instead frames the appeal as a warning to military members to “stand up for our laws” and “refuse unlawful orders.”
MILITARY VETERANS IN CONGRESS CLASH OVER GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN AS TROOPS FACE MISSED PAYCHECKS
Conservative accounts countered the viral clip, citing military law and interpreting the call to action as an alleged appeal to commit treason against the United States.
“Elected Democrats just released a video encouraging members of the military to commit treason and defy orders from Trump and Hegseth,” wrote the conservative account Libs of TikTok.
Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., added: “At the end of the day, they’re mad the American people chose Trump and now they’re calling on the Military and Intelligence Community to intervene. Sounds a little ‘subversive to democracy’-ish.”
PORTLAND CITY COUNCIL MEMBER CALLS ON NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS TO DEFY DEPLOYMENT ORDERS
The Department of War directed Fox News Digital to Hegseth’s response, which simply read, “Stage 4 TDS,” referring to “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
Slotkin’s “No Troops in Our Streets Act,” detailed in a Nov. 13 release, would give Congress the power to block National Guard deployments inside American cities. President Trump has expanded National Guard operations to Los Angeles, Portland and Chicago amid violent crime.
Rep. Jason Crow, D-Colo., simultaneously introduced a War Powers Continuing Resolution on Tuesday to block the president from ordering strikes on drug traffickers in the Caribbean—actions Crow described in a release as “unauthorized and illegal.”
AS ‘SQUAD’ TURNS ASSIMILATION INTO ‘DIRTY WORD,’ EXPERT URGES US LEADERS TO RENOUNCE FOREIGN LOYALTIES
Both Democrats argue their bills are about asserting congressional authority, not politics. The viral video shared Tuesday, set to triumphant music, does not explicitly mention either piece of legislation.
Lawmakers appearing in the video include Slotkin, Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz.; Rep. Chris Deluzio, D-Pa.; Rep. Maggie Goodlander, D-N.H.; Rep. Chrissy Houlahan, D-Pa.; and Rep. Jason Crow. Several recite a version of the line: “You can refuse illegal orders. You must refuse illegal orders.”
The branches and agencies represented among the lawmakers include the Army, Navy, Air Force and Central Intelligence Agency.
“Some in the administration and media are actively working to distort that message into something dark or divisive,” Houlahan said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “Let me be absolutely clear: there is nothing more patriotic, nothing more stabilizing and nothing more true to the rule of law than reminding our military of their constitutional obligations and reassuring them that, if they are ever given an unlawful order, they do not have to carry it out.”
“‘Don’t Give Up the Ship’ is not a slogan of rebellion—it is a historic naval motto that has always stood for steadfastness, duty and loyalty to country. That is the backbone of American civil-military tradition,” she added.

The video follows a 43-day government shutdown during which American troops continued receiving pay under the Trump administration.
The White House, Slotkin, Kelly, Deluzio, Goodlander and Crow did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment.
Giants rookie Cam Skattebo responds to criticism after wrestling event altercation
New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo sent a social media post on Tuesday, seemingly addressing his recent controversy after engaging in a shoving match against WWE stars at Madison Square Garden for “Monday Night Raw.”
“Aye, honestly, if you don’t like that I’m having a good time while dealing with a tough time, then just go ahead and unfollow and casually move on. I’m not able to play football and have the fun I’ve been having my whole life so I am doing things outside the box trying to find stuff to keep me happy,” Skattebo wrote on X.
“Enjoy the rest of y’all’s week and just don’t talk about me if you ain’t got nothing nice to say.”

Skattebo was criticized for engaging in the Monday night spectacle while he is rehabbing from a season-ending ankle injury, and the Giants trudge through a 2-9 season.
The controversial incident began when Dominik Mysterio, one of the trio’s three stars, started jawing with actor and comedian Andrew Schulz. While talking to Schulz, Mysterio — the son of wrestling legend Rey Mysterio — mocked the New York native, saying he was staring at the only champion the city had seen in years.
Mysterio then looked at Skattebo after asking how many years it had been since a New York team won a title and said, “Can you count, Cam? How many years? He don’t know. He can’t count.”
GIANTS ROOKIE CAM SKATTEBO STARTS BRAWL AFTER SHOVING WWE STARS AT ‘MONDAY NIGHT RAW’
That prompted Skattebo — who suffered his injury in a Week 8 road loss to the Philadelphia Eagles — to stand up and get in Mysterio’s face.
Then, JD McDonagh began jawing at Skattebo, shouting at the Giants players before turning to the rookie.
“You guys gonna play defense for the first time this season?” McDonagh shouted before looking at Skattebo. “What are you gonna do?”
Skattebo shoved McDonagh to the ground, sparking a skirmish between Schulz, Giants players and the wrestlers before security broke it up.

Among Skattebo’s Giants teammates in attendance was fellow rookie Abdul Carter, the team’s first-round pick, who was sporting a custom Giants WWE title belt on his left shoulder.
Skattebo finished his rookie season with 617 scrimmage yards (410 rushing, 207 receiving) and seven total touchdowns across eight games.
Trump-backed project uncovers mineral treasure that could end China’s tech dominance
A project heralded by Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy and accelerated by President Donald Trump stands to deal a huge blow to China’s dominance in the nanotechnology, energy and automotive sectors as the GraphiteOne site near Nome uncovered vast reserves — for which Beijing previously accounted for 90% of production.
As of 2024, the U.S. was at least 93% import-dependent on both rare earth elements (REEs) and graphite itself, according to the International Energy Agency, and the Graphite Creek deposit has already been dubbed the largest such tranche in the U.S.
But, this week’s announcement that REEs were discovered in addition to the graphite lode portends a step-up that the U.S. can take against the CCP through Trump’s “American energy dominance” agenda, according to a source familiar with the situation.
TRUMP CALLS XI’S RARE EARTH MOVE A ‘BAD MOMENT’ — WHY IT MATTERS FOR US NATIONAL SECURITY, CHINA TIES
Batteries, renewable energy technology, fiberoptics, lights, magnets and consumer electronics like phones and tablets rely on REEs, which often places the U.S. at a manufacturing disadvantage — accentuated by China’s 2024 export limits on magnet-related REEs, according to PRNewswire.
GraphiteOne President Anthony Huston said the Nome discovery is proof of a “truly generational deposit” at the Graphite Creek site. Some of the materials from the site will be shipped to an advanced graphite and battery anode material plant in Ohio.
Huston confirmed the presence of two Defense Production Act-qualifying materials and said that given the “robust economics of our planned complete graphite materials supply chain, the presence of Rare Earths at Graphite Creek suggests that recovery as a by-product to our graphite production will maximize the value.”
TRUMP ADMINISTRATION WORKS TO BREAK CHINA’S RARE EARTH MINERAL STRANGLEHOLD ON AFRICA
REEs found include neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium and terbium, along with ore rock containing garnet deposits. The site’s chief geologist noted that garnets can absorb certain REEs into their mineral structure.
In his State of the State address earlier this year, Dunleavy praised the GraphiteOne project as the largest such in North America and encouraged it to continue moving forward with the support of both Juneau and Washington.
Huston said Dunleavy rightly understood the role of Alaska as a crucial American source of metals and minerals “transforming the 21st century” and making the U.S. less reliant on foreign sources, including “entities of concern.”
CHINA WEAPONIZED SCIENCE AGAINST THE US. WE’VE FIGURED OUT A KEY ELEMENT THEY MISSED
Outside of Alaska, REEs have been discovered in Pennsylvania, with then-Rep. Lou Barletta, a Republican, trying to draw attention to them during his time in Congress in the 2010s.
Antracite coal deposits of Appalachian Pennsylvania have been found to contain as many as 17 different REEs, which could strike another blow to Chinese dominance.

Barletta told Fox News in 2018 that funding had been secured for a pilot program to look into extracting REEs from coal wastewater, as long-abandoned mines dot the landscape from Shamokin to Audenried, the latter falling in the aptly-named Carbon County.
While little has been done in Pennsylvania when it comes to extracting such minerals, compared to Alaskan efforts in the time since, researchers at Penn State said in September they had developed methods to recover cobalt, manganese and nickel from acid mine drainage and fly ash.
Michigan city erupts as activist slaps Quran with bacon before police arrive
Anti-Islam activists and pro-Muslim counter-protesters clashed on Tuesday in Dearborn, Michigan, prompting a heavy police presence.
Dearborn, home to one of the largest Muslim populations in the country, has recently become a target for activists who accuse it of operating under “Sharia law,” according to MLive.
The clash began when Jake Lang, who participated in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, arrived on Michigan Avenue and attempted to burn a Quran, the outlet reported.
Lang held up a lighter attempting to light the religious text on fire, but counter-protesters knocked it from his hands.
MUSLIM DEARBORN MAYOR WEIGHS IN ON RESIDENTS’ COMPLAINTS ABOUT MOSQUE’S CALL TO PRAYER
Later, Lang slapped the Quran with a slab of bacon before a counter-protester grabbed the book and took off with it.
Lang and his group later marched toward City Hall ahead of the city council meeting Tuesday night.
Police maintained a perimeter on the sidewalks and along Michigan Avenue, intervening briefly when the clash escalated following Lang’s attempted burning of the book.
One person was seen being arrested at City Hall, according to MLive. No injuries were reported.
The chair of the Michigan Democratic Party, Curtis Hertel, condemned the attempted burning of the Quran.
DEARBORN MAYOR REFUSES TO APOLOGIZE FOR TELLING CHRISTIAN MINISTER HE WAS ‘NOT WELCOME HERE’
“Attempting to burn a religious document is an unacceptable act of hate,” Hertel said in a statement. “Dearborn is a beloved, multicultural city with tens of thousands of people who are cherished friends, family members, and neighbors.”
Michigan gubernatorial candidate Anthony Hudson, a Republican, walked with supporters along the sidewalk as part of a demonstration that appeared unconnected to Lang’s, according to MLive.
Hudson had initially planned a protest in Dearborn, calling it an “American Crusade” against “Muslim infiltration” and “Sharia Law,” according to a news release from the Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
But after visiting three mosques in the area, Hudson said there are many false and misleading narratives about Dearborn being spread and that all he found from Muslims in Dearborn was hospitality, according to the release. He also said he was opposed to outsiders traveling to Dearborn with plans to burn the Quran.

“We welcome Mr. Hudson’s remorse for his admitted fearmongering against the Dearborn community and American Muslims in general,” CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid said in the release. “We invite him to further discussions to learn about the Islamic faith and what Muslims generally believe counter to false narratives and misinformation perpetuated by those with political agendas.”
In response to Hudson’s change of heart, Lang spray-painted the word “cuck” on his campaign bus in Dearborn, criticizing him for “selling out,” MLive reported.
Mexico’s president fires back at Trump’s cartel strike plan: ‘Not going to happen’
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on Tuesday rejected the idea of U.S. military strikes against cartels on Mexican soil, responding to President Donald Trump’s comments that he would do “whatever it takes” to stop drugs from entering the U.S.
The Associated Press reported that Sheinbaum said Mexico would not allow foreign military action in its territory and reaffirmed her government’s position against any U.S. intervention.
Trump said Monday he would consider authorizing U.S. strikes inside Mexico to halt the flow of drugs, calling it “OK with me” if that’s what it takes to protect American lives. He cited what he described as major success intercepting narcotics by sea and suggested similar operations could target cartel routes on land, arguing that such action would save “millions of lives” in the U.S.
Sheinbaum pushed back quickly, saying the proposal echoed earlier talks with Trump about potential U.S. intervention. She said Mexico welcomes cooperation on security but that its sovereignty is nonnegotiable, stressing that any joint efforts must respect its authority within its own borders.
DEM PRESSURE BUILDS FOR ANSWERS ON TRUMP’S CARIBBEAN STRIKES, COMMANDER’S SUDDEN EXIT
“It’s not going to happen,” Sheinbaum told reporters, noting Trump has previously floated U.S. military intervention to combat criminal organizations.
She said she told both Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio that while Mexico welcomes intelligence sharing, it will not permit foreign forces to operate within its borders. Sheinbaum said both U.S. leaders appeared to understand her position.
“We operate in our territory,” she said, emphasizing Mexico’s sovereignty.
TRUMP’S WAR ON CARTELS ENTERS NEW PHASE AS EXPERTS PREDICT WHAT’S NEXT
Fox News Digital has reached out to the White House for comment on the matter.
The exchange came as officials from both countries worked to clarify reports of a possible U.S. incursion into Mexican territory.
On Monday, individuals arrived by boat on a beach in northeastern Mexico and posted signs marking the area as restricted U.S. Department of Defense property.
AMERICA FIRST: RUBIO AND TRUMP JUST DREW A RED LINE FOR NARCO-TERRORISTS
Mexico’s Foreign Affairs Ministry said the Navy removed the signs after determining they were on Mexican soil. Sheinbaum said Tuesday that the International Boundary and Water Commission, the agency that defines the U.S.–Mexico border, had been called in to review the issue.
Witnesses said the signs were posted on Playa Bagdad, near where the Rio Grande flows into the Gulf of America. The signs said “Warning: Restricted Area” in English and Spanish and claimed the land was controlled by the U.S. military.
Sheinbaum later said the signs were installed by contractors working for a U.S. government agency, noting that the shifting riverbed often complicates the exact location of the border.
The disputed area is located near SpaceX’s Starbase launch site in Boca Chica, Texas, which operates under contracts with both NASA and the Pentagon. In June, Sheinbaum said her government was investigating reports of debris from a SpaceX test explosion that landed on the Mexican side of the border.

The incident also reflects broader tensions between the two countries, including Trump’s earlier directive to rename the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America, a move Mexico has strongly opposed.
Gracie Hunt praises Turning Point’s alternative to Bad Bunny Super Bowl halftime show
Gracie Hunt, the daughter of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, applauded Erika Kirk and Turning Point USA for attempting to create their own halftime show to go against Bad Bunny.
The Grammy Award-winning artist was announced as the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show performer earlier this year, sparking outrage among some because of his criticism of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
Hunt appeared on Fox News Channel’s “The Will Cain Show” and said Kirk has done a great job leading young female Americans, and she was “most definitely” looking forward to Turning Point USA’s alternative halftime show.

“I really respect Erika for all that she’s done, especially with creating a halftime show for America. You know, children are young, they’re impressionable. Young women, young men and everyone, they just need someone to look up to,” Hunt said.
“As someone who doesn’t yet have young children of my own, I can’t imagine how difficult that is to navigate. But I think she’s done an incredible job leading Turning Point, leading young women and really leading an alternative for young Americans. Football’s becoming the world sport, but, at its heart, it’s America’s sport built around family.
CJ STROUD RULED OUT WITH CONCUSSION AHEAD OF TEXANS’ PIVOTAL SHOWDOWN VS. BILLS
“When my grandfather named the Super Bowl, he intended it to be something children and families of all ages could come together and watch and really believed that the game should come first, that football is the attraction and that it didn’t need to compromise its character or rely on cheap appeal to draw an audience, especially when that approach can alienate so much of the fan base.
“The NFL honors women, the military, this country, celebrates communities. So, I think that whoever they select going forward for the halftime show needs to reflect those values more closely. So, I respect Erika.”
Hunt said she would love to see Jason Aldean or even Taylor Swift take the stage for a halftime show performance in the future.
The NFL has supported its decision to have Bad Bunny perform at the Super Bowl at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
Additionally, Hunt said she was “excited” about the religious revival in the U.S. among women.

“I think our generation gets a bad rap, but I am so excited by this movement I’ve seen within this younger generation,” she said. “They are hungry for a deeper ‘why.’ They are hungry for Jesus. November is global Bible month, and Bible sales are up.
“And I’m just seeing this massive resurgence in young women, in young men, across college campuses getting baptized, sharing the Gospel and wanting to leave this world a better place.”
Trans Democrat changes tune on who’s to blame for trans policy backlash
Rep. Sarah McBride, D-Del., appeared to switch gears as to who’s to blame for pushback against transgender issues, saying it stems from a “well-funded” and “well-coordinated, right-wing effort” on Monday.
Katie Couric spoke to the transgender lawmaker on her show “Next Question with Katie Couric” about rollbacks on transgender policies, such as barring biologically male athletes from competing in women’s sports and prohibiting gender transition treatments for children.
Couric asked McBride whether the “pendulums maybe swung too far” and caused backlash against trans Americans.
SUPREME COURT RULING ON TRANS TREATMENTS FOR MINORS DECRIED BY MEDIA AS ‘HUGE SETBACK FOR TRANSGENDER RIGHTS’
“I don’t think the pendulum swung too far,” McBride answered. “I think more than anything else, the reason why this has happened is because there was a well-funded, well-coordinated effort to fearmonger and scapegoat around a vulnerable community.”
McBride said that while transgender individuals were gaining visibility, it was not matched by a “level of public understanding” that would have prevented backlash. Right-wing actors took advantage of that vulnerability to “demonize” the entire community, McBride claimed.
“It’s just sort of the reality of new progress, right?” McBride said. “It’s always the most fragile at the start. And then that is met most explicitly by a well-funded, well-coordinated, right-wing effort to demonize, fearmonger, and scapegoat that community. It’s had toxic consequences.”
JAMES CARVILLE SAYS THOSE WHO STILL PUSH ‘ASININE’ TRANS SPORTS POLICIES ARE PANDERING TO ‘LEFT-WING ZOMBIES’
This appeared to mark a shift in McBride’s earlier comments on the topic.
When asked by The New York Times’ Ezra Klein about where the Democratic Party went wrong in 2024, McBride acknowledged that the party may have overplayed its hand regarding trans issues.
“I think that’s an accurate reflection of the overplaying of the hand in some ways — that we as a coalition went to Trans 201, Trans 301, when people were still at a very much Trans 101 stage,” McBride said in June.
McBride added, “And I think some of the cultural mores and norms that started to develop around inclusion of trans people were probably premature for a lot of people. We became absolutist — not just on trans rights but across the progressive movement — and we forgot that in a democracy we have to grapple with where the public authentically is and actually engage with it. Part of this is fostered by social media.”
DETRANSITIONER SLAMS TRANS ‘PSEUDOSCIENCE’ THAT DOCTORS SAID WOULD SOLVE HER MENTAL DISTRESS: ‘IT’S QUACKERY’
Though McBride placed more blame on the right for the backlash, the Delaware Democrat continued to argue against “absolutism” for both sides and encouraged the party to keep educating voters on the issues.
[O]ne of the things that I take solace in is the fact that absolutism, whether on the left or the right, is only possible in authoritarianism. The fact that change takes time, as unfair as that is and as unsatisfying as that is, we can try to make it as fast as possible, and we must make it as fast as possible. But the fact that it’s hard, that is a feature of democracy, not a bug of it,” McBride told Couric.

Cowboys lineman’s theatrical flop draws penalty in big win over Raiders
Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Tyler Guyton showed off his acting skills during the team’s 33-16 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday night at Allegiant Stadium.
With about two minutes left in the second quarter, Guyton and Raiders defensive end Malcolm Koonce engaged in some extracircular activity. Guyton shoved Koonce, and the Raiders defensive end responded with a blow to Guyton’s helmet.
Guyton turned around after he got hit and then acted as if he took a punch from Mike Tyson in his prime, as he dramatically threw his hands up and fell on his back. The performance worked, as the referees flagged Koonce for unnecessary roughness.

However, the Cowboys declined the penalty on Koonce and instead accepted a defensive pass interference penalty that moved them further down the field.
Guyton, 24, is in his second season with the Cowboys after being selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma.
COWBOYS DOMINATE RAIDERS AFTER HONORING MARSHAWN KNEELAND IN FIRST GAME SINCE LINEBACKER’S TRAGIC DEATH
The Cowboys’ win on Monday was an emotional one, as it was the first game the team played since linebacker Marshawn Kneeland died by suicide. Kneeland was honored before the game with a moment of silence, and the Cowboys wore T-shirts honoring the 24-year-old.
Dak Prescott played well in the win, as he completed 25 of 33 passes for 268 yards and four touchdowns. Wide receiver George Pickens had nine catches for 144 yards and a touchdown, while CeeDee Lamb had five catches for 66 yards and a touchdown.

DHS preparing immigration operation targeting thousands in 2 states: report
The Department of Homeland Security is preparing to deploy roughly 250 federal border agents to Louisiana and Mississippi in a sweeping operation aimed at arresting nearly 5,000 people in the two states, The Associated Press reported Tuesday, citing internal documents and people familiar with the operation.
The two-month immigration initiative, dubbed “Swamp Sweep,” is expected to begin Dec. 1 and will center heavily on southeastern Louisiana, according to the report. The crackdown marks one of the largest single-state deployments of immigration authorities under the Trump administration to date.
Agents are expected to start arriving in New Orleans on Friday to position equipment, vehicles and other logistics before fanning out into communities across Louisiana. Operations will stretch from New Orleans through Jefferson, St. Bernard and St. Tammany parishes, reaching north toward Baton Rouge, The AP said. Additional enforcement is being planned in southeastern Mississippi, though details remain limited.
DHS did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

ILLINOIS DEMOCRAT LEADERS BLAST TRUMP PUSH TO SEND NATIONAL GUARD TO CHICAGO
Spokespeople for Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry and Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves — both Republicans who have previously backed President Donald Trump and his agenda — also did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Fox News Digital.
Reeves announced in August that he “approved the deployment of approximately 200 Mississippi National Guard Soldiers to Washington, D.C., to support President Trump’s effort to return law and order to our nation’s capital.”
In May, Landry similarly touted a partnership with “the federal government to crack down on criminal illegal aliens in the great State of Louisiana.”
TRUMP’S WEEK SHAPED BY CRIME AGENDA, POTENTIAL GUARD DEPLOYMENT TO CHICAGO
The expansion into Louisiana and Mississippi comes as the Trump administration accelerates its nationwide immigration enforcement strategy. Federal immigration officers have already been sent to major cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago and, most recently, Charlotte, North Carolina.

Trump’s Border Czar Tom Homan told Fox News earlier Tuesday that additional operations are being prepared for New York City, signaling the crackdown is poised to widen even further in the weeks ahead.
