The West Virginia National Guardsman who is in critical condition after being shot this week in Washington, D.C., is “hanging on,” a congressman told “FOX & Friends Weekend,” adding that his family is calling for prayer.

Rep. Riley Moore, R-W.Va., said Saturday that the family of Andrew Wolfe, 24, is “committed to service.”

“His father is a deputy sheriff in the county next to mine and Andy wanted to follow in that footsteps and serve his nation as a National Guardsman,” Moore told “FOX & Friends Weekend.”

“Andy is hanging on. And he is a fighter and his family has told me that time and time again, he is a fighter,” Moore added. “But above all what they want here is for everybody to continue to pray. I believe in the power of prayer and I can promise you his parents believe in the power of prayer… Please keep praying.”

West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey also told “Fox & Friends Weekend” on Saturday that, “Andrew is fighting for his life right now, and his family and all of his friends, they’re trying to harvest as many prayers as possible from all across the country, all across the globe, to help him recover.”

Morrisey said Wolfe’s condition, as of Saturday, “remains very serious.”

“West Virginia cares very deeply about its Guard. And there’s just a proud tradition of West Virginians who step up from military service. So when something like this happens, it’s really a gut punch to the communities,” Morrisey added.

“Most importantly, we need justice to be served. That’s critical. I think West Virginians are counting on that. Americans are counting on that,” he told Fox News.

National Guard member Sarah Beckstrom, 20, of West Virginia, died after the shooting on Wednesday in the nation’s capital.

The alleged gunman, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, faces multiple charges, including one count of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed. Attorney General Pam Bondi said that the Justice Department would pursue the death penalty against the suspect.

Beckstrom and Wolfe are members of the West Virginia National Guard, which was deployed to the nation’s capital to tackle crime in the city following an executive order from President Donald Trump earlier this year.

ALLEGED DC SHOOTER ENTERED US UNDER AFGHAN RESETTLEMENT PUSH MAYORKAS VOWED WOULD BE DONE ‘SWIFTLY AND SAFELY’

Lakanwal entered the United States on the heels of the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021 under the Biden administration. Lakanwal arrived in the U.S. a month later under “Operation Allies Welcome.”

“The president is taking the correct step by re-vetting these individuals. But in my view, he should have never been here. He should have never been in this country to begin with,” Moore said Saturday. “We had over 80,000 Afghan nationals piled into the United States, we don’t know these people. We don’t know who they are.”

“We have had terrorists come to the United States before. This is the first time that I can recall the United States government brought a terrorist into our country, into the United States,” he added. “After we had 13 of our service members killed at Abbey Gate, that continued failed policy just cost us another American life, by the Biden administration. We should not be in this position to begin with and beautiful young lady from West Virginia lost her life because of this failed policy by Joe Biden.”

Police reported that three victims with gunshot wounds have been transported to a local hospital after a shooting at Westfield Valley Fair Mall in San Jose, California, appeared to take advantage of the Black Friday crowds.

“Officers are still diligently clearing the mall,” the San Jose Police Department wrote on X. “In total, 3 victims were transported to local hospitals with injuries that have been determined to be non-life threatening. Please continue to avoid the area.”

Police said the “shooting appears to be an isolated incident and NOT an active shooter.”

Officials added that officers are evacuating and clearing the area to ensure there is no ongoing threat to public safety. “Please continue to avoid the area,” San Jose Police added.

Prince William still traumatized over betrayal suffered by late mother, author says

Prince William has endured the private agony of knowing how deeply his mother was betrayed — and now he’s determined to find the truth.

“I’ve been discreet because I’ve gone as far as I was advised to go,” Andy Webb, author of “Dianarama,” told Fox News Digital. “I describe William as having a wound that will not heal. It’s been made clear to me that he needs to know what happened. I think the impact on William must have been absolutely traumatic. He’s decided that the time has come. He needs to know. He really wants to know what went down 30 years ago.”

In November 1995, Princess Diana secretly gave an explosive interview to journalist Martin Bashir for the BBC investigative program “Panorama.” The then-34-year-old, who was already separated from her husband, Prince Charles, detailed how her marriage had failed because the future king, then 47, was still in love with his mistress, Camilla Parker Bowles.

PRINCE WILLIAM HAUNTED BY CHILDHOOD PAIN AS HE FACES NEW FAMILY WORRIES: EXPERT

Diana’s many revelations, including her battle with bulimia and how she deliberately hurt herself in a desperate bid for help, shocked millions. The princess never realized she had been manipulated into speaking out — a decision her loved ones believe led to her death.

Webb, an investigative journalist, has spent 20 years uncovering what he described as the network’s cover-up. It was later revealed that Bashir  used false documents and other dishonest tactics to persuade Diana to agree to the interview.

Speaking to Diana’s brother Earl Charles Spencer — himself deceived by Bashir’s tactics — Webb revealed that the journalist had presented forged bank statements, claimed William’s watch was a listening device, alleged palace staff were monitoring Diana, and even suggested Charles wanted her killed to marry the boys’ nanny and take her children away.

WATCH: PRINCE WILLIAM STILL HAUNTED BY PRINCESS DIANA’S TELL-ALL: AUTHOR

Bashir even produced a forged document that suggested the nanny, Tiggy Legge-Bourke, had undergone an abortion paid for by Charles.

Fox News Digital reached out to Bashir for comment about Webb’s book. The 62-year-old, who resigned from the BBC in 2021 citing health reasons, said he deeply regretted falsifying the bank statements, calling it a “stupid thing to do.” He added that he felt it had “no bearing whatsoever on Princess Diana’s personal choice to take part in the interview.”

Webb said the consequences of Bashir’s deceit were catastrophic. Consumed by isolation and mistrust, Diana began purging her inner circle, letting go of trusted aides — including her longtime chauffeur — after Bashir reportedly convinced her that even he was an informant.

“Diana had been schooled to believe that the people around her, the people closest to her, couldn’t be trusted, that they were actually taking very large sums of money, £40,000 in one case, to spy on Diana,” Webb explained.

“She could no longer trust these people. All the people whom she’d relied upon in her life up to that point, she got rid of. So, 18 months later, there is a different set of people. It turns out they were not the people you want to have in charge of your security.”

“The most heartbreaking thing is the very strong suggestion that if executives at the time had briefed Princess Diana on the fraudulent activity — the forgeries and lies she had been told — her life could have gone in a different direction,” Webb noted.

The fallout from the interview was swift and devastating. Queen Elizabeth II instructed Charles and Diana to proceed with a formal divorce. In its wake, Diana was stripped of many royal privileges and grew distrustful of those closest to her, including her private secretary, Patrick Jephson. Just two years later, tragedy struck when the princess was killed in a Paris car crash while being relentlessly pursued by paparazzi.

“They said Diana was paranoid,” said Webb. “And I always think to myself, ‘That’s really unkind,’ because you have to remember, this was the BBC telling her they had firm information and documents proving people were out to get her. That’s what Diana was acting on.

“At that point in her life, she knew her phone had been tapped, private calls had been recorded and even broadcast publicly. It was very embarrassing for her. She also worried whether a former friend she’d had a relationship with, who died in a motorbike accident, might have been targeted. She asked herself, ‘Is that a coincidence?’”

“That was the material Martin Bashir knew he was working with — that Diana was already deeply suspicious of being under surveillance,” Webb said. “He knew she was concerned about the death of this particular man. Then he came along with his documents, and he was very convincing.”

The interview and its aftermath remain a sorrow that has weighed on William for decades.

“I think it’s hard for William to realize that things might have been different,” said Webb. “If only Diana had been told what really happened — what Martin Bashir had done. It’s difficult to live with that knowledge.”

In 2020, The Sunday Times published new evidence showing that Bashir used deceitful tactics to reach Diana through her brother. It prompted the BBC to launch an independent inquiry led by senior judge Lord Dyson.

The 2021 report concluded that Bashir breached BBC rules by fabricating fake bank statements and showing them to the earl to gain access to the princess. Believing there were forces within the palace that wanted to silence her, Diana agreed to tell her side of the story — unaware Bashir was exploiting her fears.

The report also criticized the BBC for covering up what it knew about Bashir’s actions, noting that the corporation’s internal probe fell short of its usual standards of integrity and transparency.

“The interview was a major contribution to making my parents’ relationship worse and has since hurt countless others,” William said in a statement. “It brings indescribable sadness to know that the BBC’s failures contributed significantly to her fear, paranoia and isolation that I remember from those final years with her.”

William’s younger brother, Prince Harry, said in his own statement that the issue was bigger than just the BBC — and that “the ripple effect of a culture of exploitation and unethical practices ultimately took her life.”

“To those who have taken some form of accountability, thank you for owning it. That is the first step toward justice and truth,” he wrote. “Yet what deeply concerns me is that practices like these — and even worse — are still widespread today.”

William was 13 when his mother spoke out. Harry was 11.

“What teenager wants to watch TV and see his mother there being asked questions about, ‘Did you have sex with this boyfriend?’” asked Webb.

“In the interview, Diana is encouraged to effectively trash William’s father when she’s asked, ‘Do you think he should be king?’ And she says, ‘No, I don’t think he’s got it in him.’ So William, at the age of 13, is sitting there watching this. What do his school friends think the next morning? You don’t have to be a prince to be horribly embarrassed by that.”

BBC Chairman Richard Sharp said the corporation accepted the investigation’s findings, adding that “there were unacceptable failures.” The broadcaster also wrote to the royal family to apologize.

“William does not want this interview to be shown again,” said Webb. “He calls it illegitimate. What’s particularly sad is that, yes, some parts were valuable — but in reality, Diana gave that interview in a state of terror and fear.”

Trump issues direct warning to airlines, pilots on Venezuelan airspace

President Donald Trump told airlines on Saturday to consider the airspace above Venezuela closed.

“To all Airlines, Pilots, Drug Dealers, and Human Traffickers, please consider THE AIRSPACE ABOVE AND SURROUNDING VENEZUELA TO BE CLOSED IN ITS ENTIRETY,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

Trump’s comments come about a week after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) warned airlines about flying over Venezuela. The FAA issued a notice urging airlines to “exercise caution” due to the “potentially hazardous situation” in the region.

“Operators are advised to exercise caution when operating in the Maiquetia flight information region at all altitudes due to the worsening security situation and heightened military activity in or around Venezuela,” the FAA advisory had said.

SOME INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES CANCEL VENEZUELA FLIGHTS AFTER FAA WARNING OVER SAFETY CONCERNS

“Threats could pose a potential risk to aircraft at all altitudes, including during overflight, the arrival and departure phases of flight, and/or airports and aircraft on the ground,” it added, requesting airlines to provide at least 72-hour advance notice to the FAA if they plan to fly through the area.

Some international airlines then canceled their flights to Venezuela following the FAA’s warning.

When asked for a response Saturday to Trump’s message, the FAA directed FOX Business to its Nov. 21 notice.

FAA WARNS AIRLINES ABOUT FLYING OVER VENEZUELA: ‘POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS SITUATION’

Direct flights from U.S. passenger and cargo carriers to Venezuela have been suspended since 2019, but some airlines still fly over the country on their South American routes, according to Reuters.

“Since September 2025, there has been an increase in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) interference in the Maiquetia Flight Information Region (SVZM FIR), as well as activity associated with increasing Venezuela military readiness,” the FAA also said.

“Some civil aircraft recently reported GNSS interference while transiting the SVZM FIR, which, in some cases, caused lingering effects throughout the flight. 5 bulk grocery staples that might actually be a total waste of money, experts warn

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

As families head into the holiday season, many shoppers assume warehouse clubs and big-box stores are the smartest places to save — but consumer experts warn that jumbo purchases can quietly drain your budget.

“Buying in bulk seems like the smart move when trying to afford food during this expensive season, but it can backfire,” Andrea Woroch, a money-saving expert based in California, told Fox News Digital.

AFFORDABLE MENUS AND SMALLER PORTIONS NEED TO BE OFFERED BY RESTAURANTS, CELEBRITY CHEF INSISTS

Key grocery staples such as produce and dairy are pricier than last year, so experts say shoppers should be selective, starting with these five items that are rarely a good deal in bulk.

1. Fresh produce

Fruits and vegetables like berries, avocados, bananas and spinach rarely survive long enough for smaller households to get their money’s worth, savvy shoppers say.

“You’re not going to go through that food fast enough to have it at its freshest, unless you’re having guests,” Trae Bodge, a New Jersey-based shopping expert and brand strategist, told Fox News Digital. “You can certainly break these rules a little bit during the holidays.”

Shoppers should avoid one especially tempting bulk item — pre-cut fruit salad — unless it’s being served immediately, she said.

TOP AMERICAN PASTA BRANDS READY TO TAKE OVER AMID TARIFFS ON IMPORTED PRODUCTS

“You will get a much better deal buying the whole produce in smaller quantities and doing the cutting yourself … Those pre-made fruit salads are marked up by around 100%,” she said.

2. Milk and yogurt

Milk is often priced low at regular grocery stores as a “loss leader,” Woroch said, meaning the store takes a hit to get you in the door.

So buying it in bulk doesn’t save much, and it may spoil before you drink it.

Yogurt is another item that looks economical but turns quickly.

“Yogurt can go bad in a few weeks,” Woroch said. “Look for deals on individual containers instead.”

3. Bread and baked goods

Bread often goes stale or moldy long before families can finish the giant twin- or triple-packs sold at warehouse stores.

COSTCO SHOPPERS RAVE OVER SEASONAL PIE THAT’S NEARLY 4 POUNDS AND LESS THAN $6

“Bread can spoil quickly, and you can find plenty of deals rotating on different types of bread at your local grocery store or big-box retailers without having to worry about eating it all before it gets moldy,” Woroch said.

Freezing is an option, but only if you have the space.

4. Bulk spices, rice and olive oil

These pantry staples sound like a safe bulk buy, but they lose quality faster than most people realize.

“Things like spices, brown rice and olive oil are not at their best after about six months,” Bodge said.

Other pantry items, however, may be worth it, Woroch said.

“I’m a fan of buying pantry staples in bulk, especially around the holidays when I’m cooking and baking more. … Just make sure to use airtight containers,” she added.

“Flour and sugar are single-ingredient goods, so a name brand can’t produce it any differently than the store brand, so save yourself money.”

5. Chips, crackers and nuts

Lots of snacks can go stale soon after opening, but some are packaged in a way that helps keep them fresh for longer.

“If you want to buy in bulk, look for crackers sold in ‘fresh’ stacks, which means they have smaller packaged crackers inside the box to preserve freshness,” Woroch said.

“Otherwise, look for discounts on regular-size bags from big-box stores to score the best bargain.”

Buying nuts and seeds in bulk can also backfire because oxygen causes them to lose freshness and many of them actually need refrigeration to stay fresh.

Plus, the snack aisle is frequently marked down anyway, experts note.

Splitting oversized hauls with family or neighbors, breaking down giant gift baskets from warehouse clubs, stocking up on budget-friendly alcohol and leaning on store brands and savings apps can help shoppers stretch their dollars.

Avoid the free samples, which will often tempt you into buying more, Bodge said.

“If you end up tossing a third of what you buy, you didn’t save anything,” she added.

Arch Manning’s bold playoff claim after Texas stuns No. 3 Texas A&M Aggies

Texas Longhorns football coach Steve Sarkisian made the case for his team to get into the College Football Playoff after Arch Manning led an upset victory over Texas A&M.

Manning was 14-of-29 with 179 passing yards and a touchdown pass. He found Ryan Wingo for a 29-yard score to put the Longhorns up three points in the third quarter. Then, up three points in the fourth quarter, Manning scampered for a 35-yard touchdown run to give Texas a 10-point lead.

No. 16 Texas won the game, 27-17, and ruined No. 3 Texas A&M’s hopes of making the SEC Championship.

“We’re absolutely a playoff team, and worthy of an opportunity to play for a national championship.”

If the Longhorns made the Playoff, they would be the first three-loss team to do so. They have a bad loss to Florida on their resume, which would likely hold them back from getting into the final 12. Their other losses were against No. 1 Ohio State and No. 4 Georgia.

Sarkisian said the Longhorns should be rewarded, not punished, for scheduling an out-of-conference matchup with the defending national champions to start the season.

“If we’re a 10-2 team right now, this isn’t a discussion,” Sarkisian said.

Manning echoed Sarkisian’s sentiments.

“If you let us in, we can beat anyone,” Manning said. “If you don’t think we’re one of the best 12 teams in the country, I don’t know what to tell you.”

A 150-million-year-old fossil from the Jurassic era turned up at a Montana dig site this year — unearthed not by a scientist, but by a Connecticut high school student.

Aidan Connor, a senior at Cheshire Academy in New Haven County, found the ancient bone in Red Lodge, Montana, this summer, according to a news release from the academy.

With funding from the Rizzolo-Larson Venture Grant program, the student traveled west with the Elevation Science Institute as part of a dig that involved teenagers across the country.

On the first day of the excavation, Connor spotted a pinkie-sized finger bone that likely belonged to a small dinosaur during the Jurassic period.

It took the high school senior about an hour to extract the fossil, which is considered relatively quick. The teenager described the experience as “very nerve-wracking.”

“A lot of field work, especially paleontology, is trying your hardest not to break very important things,” Connor said, per the release.

After finding the bone, the student spent the rest of the week “jacketing” other fossils, a process that involves plastering them in order to prevent damage during transport.

“[W]hat we’re most proud of is his polyglot love of learning, and his willingness to combine passion with patience, practice and process.”

Speaking to Fox News Digital, Connor said the whole experience was “quite exciting.”

“[It was] very fulfilling for my inner child,” he added.

“It was definitely rewarding to finally get it, and many other fossils in the area, prepped for removal.”

“Our pride in Aidan goes beyond the discovery he made,” said Arison.

“What we’re most proud of is his polyglot love of learning, and his willingness to combine passion with patience, practice and process.”

The dean added that Connor is looking at schools offering majors like paleontology and museum studies, and is still considering his options ahead of his graduation next spring.

The Chicago Bears are out to prove they are for real, and their Black Friday victory may have very well done it.

The Bears went on the road to Philadelphia and dismantled the reigning Super Bowl champion Eagles with a 24-15 win.

The Bears dominated on the ground, rushing for 281 yards. For the first time since 1985, they had two 100-yard rushers in the same game.

After the game, though, the party was on in the locker room, and first-year head coach Ben Johnson found himself right in the thick of it, partying shirtless and leading a chant.

“Good, better, best. Never let it rest ’til your good gets better and your better gets best,” Bears players and Johnson shouted after the head coach flexed his muscles.

Johnson’s exuberance bubbled over in the locker room — though there was an apparent method to his toplessness. The Wieners Circle, a Chicago hot dog stand, offered free hot dogs if Johnson took off his shirt after any victory this season.

“These guys just feel pretty good about what they just did,” Johnson said before video of his celebration emerged. “It was hard to go on the road and beat a good team like that.”

Last season, the Bears’ Thanksgiving loss at Detroit led to the firing of coach Matt Eberflus and was their sixth straight of what ballooned into a 10-game losing streak. A year later, the Bears bullied Philadelphia’s defensive line for a relatively easy win.

“They have a lot of belief in what we’re doing. They have a lot of belief in themselves,” Johnson said. “They have a lot of belief in this coaching staff. And so that confidence just starts to develop and continues to bubble over.”
