Elton John reveals what would make Trump one of the ‘greatest presidents’ in history
Singer Elton John said in an interview last week that if President Donald Trump managed to end AIDS, he would be “one of the greatest presidents” of all time.
The “Tiny Dancer” spoke with Variety on Tuesday about his nameske\ AIDS Foundation and the support he has received from Republican lawmakers such as Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., in the past. From there, he encouraged the Trump administration to continue work toward the goal of eradicating the disease.
“The bipartisan thing makes common sense,” John said. “To see us come so far with the medical and scientific advances, and to think this is the only disease that can be completely cured in one’s lifetime. President Trump has maybe solved the peace problem. If he wants to go down as one of the greatest presidents in history… if he ended AIDS, that would really be a feather in his cap.”
TRUMP’S GLOBAL HEALTH STRATEGY COULD MARK A TURNING POINT IN THE AIDS BATTLE
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved in June a new, twice-yearly shot from Gilead Sciences, a U.S. private sector biopharmaceutical company, to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS. The shot was nearly 100% effective in preventing the spread of HIV in clinical trials and was shown to be superior to past drugs.
Trump has also previously stated his goal of eradicating the disease by 2030, announcing an initiative to end HIV during his first term in 2019.
ELTON JOHN HAS ‘LOST MY EYESIGHT’ FOLLOWING SEVERE INFECTION
However, the Trump administration has sought to cut funding from the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) in the president’s original rescissions package back in July. Senate Republicans later agreed to preserve PEPFAR funding.
John expressed his frustrations with the U.S. and other countries over obstacles providing aid to HIV patients, such as budget cuts or legal restrictions.
“I just am enraged by it,” John told Variety. “It’s very frustrating when you’ve got the tools in your hand to end it, and then you find that countries won’t help.”
ELTON JOHN VOWS AIDS PATIENTS WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN AMID CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC, REVEALS $1M PLEDGE
In a comment to Fox News Digital, White House spokesman Kush Desai confirmed further efforts by the Trump administration to handle the AIDS epidemic.
“Elton John can rest assured that the Trump administration is robustly tackling the HIV/AIDS epidemic both at home and abroad,” Desai said. “The State Department is working directly with foreign governments to implement a global health strategy to streamline America’s foreign assistance and modernize our approach to countering infectious diseases like HIV.”
He continued, “HHS, meanwhile, is advancing next-generation HIV prevention and treatment options, strengthening viral suppression nationwide via HRSA’s Ryan White program, supporting emergency preparedness, and expanding access to trusted HIV information.”
John has been friendly towards Trump in the past, even complimenting the president for nicknaming North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un “Little Rocket Man” after one of his songs.

“I laughed, I thought that was brilliant,” John said in 2024. “I just thought, ‘Good on you, Donald’… Donald’s always been a fan of mine, and he’s been to my concerts many, many times. So, I mean, I’ve always been friendly toward him, and I thank him for his support. When he did that, I just thought it was hilarious. It made me laugh.”
West Coast city snubs ‘Christmas’ from tree lighting while waving Palestinian flag
Portland, Oregon, is under fire for again hosting its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony and nixing any mention of the Christian holiday, while leaders of the event instead waved a Palestinian flag and led the crowd in chants.
“Free, free, free Palestine,” a woman holding a Palestinian flag on stage of the lighting event said while leading the crowd in a chant Friday evening, before also singing the “Strong Woman Song” while joined by the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, which is a confederation of three native tribes in Oregon.
The event was decked out in Christmas lights, a traditionally decorated tree and a visit from Santa Claus, but did not promote any mention of Christmas, with organizers instead advertising the festive occasion as “Portland’s 41st Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony,” according to social media accounts for Pioneer Courthouse Square, where the tree is displayed.
Fox News Digital reviewed the Portland government’s Facebook, X and Instagram accounts and found advertisements and footage showing the tree lighting, but did not include the word “Christmas.” A calendar for the annual event shows organizers have bypassed calling it a “Christmas” tree lighting event going back to at least 2019.
ICONIC DC LANDMARK UNVEILS FIRST CHRISTMAS TREE AS PART OF PUSH TO REVIVE HOLIDAY SPIRIT
“Portland’s Tree is lit!” one caption on an Instagram video shared by the Portland, Oregon, Instagram account stated.
“Portland’s 41st Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony presented by SmartPark is tonight!” another message shared on social media by both the Portland, Oregon, government and Pioneer Courthouse Square stated.
“Celebrate the highlight of the Downtown Holiday Season as Santa Claus flips the switch, illuminating more than 9,500 colorful LED lights to shine bright on our City’s 75’ Douglas-fir, generously donated by Stimson Lumber for all to enjoy. SEE YOU TONIGHT, PORTLAND!” it added.
Social media commenters sounded off online that the deep blue city refused to mention the word “Christmas.”
“The City of Portland and local media outlets are calling this ‘The Tree’ because they despise Christians like me and many of you so much they can’t bring themselves to say the word ‘Christmas,’” independent journalist David Medina posted to X.
“They can’t even say Christmas tree in Portland. They call it ‘the tree,'” another conservative account posted to X in response to a video Medina posted.
BIRTHPLACE OF JESUS TO RESUME CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS AFTER WAR FORCED A TWO-YEAR PAUSE
“Thousands came to the Christmas tree lighting — and many told me parts of the program felt like political messaging that was out of place and inappropriate for a family event. Why are our public traditions being pulled into ideology and virtue signaling instead of serving the community? Portland deserves events that unite us, not moments that push someone’s narrative,” community journalism outlet PDX Real posted to X.
“In Portland they’re trying to take the Christmas out of Christmas tree. It’s a Christmas tree, it’s always been a Christmas tree, and it will always be a Christmas tree. These people will slowly take everything until there’s nothing left if given the opportunity,” one social media account posted.
A handful of local media outlets described the Christmas tree as a “holiday tree” in headlines, while others did refer to the event as a “Christmas tree lighting,” as did some local officials on their social media accounts, Fox News Digital found.
Democratic Portland Mayor Keith Wilson’s office also explicitly called the event a “Christmas Tree Lighting” in response to Fox News Digital while brushing off the criticisms of the event.
“Mayor Wilson was delighted to join Portland’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting alongside Christmas carolers and holiday festivities,” Wilson’s office said when asked about the criticisms. “That said, framing it otherwise feels like quite the reach.”
‘ANARCHISTS ILLEGALLY TOOK THEM DOWN,’ NOW PORTLAND IS PUTTING STATUES OF LINCOLN AND ROOSEVELT BACK UP
The tree lighting ceremony also included a group of women, including the woman holding a Palestinian flag singing the “Strong Woman Song,” which is an intertribal indigenous song. A representative from the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs championed that the lighting ceremony was held on the same day as Native American Heritage Day.
“On this Native American Heritage Day, I hold both gratitude and truth,” one woman said from the stage. “The tree that we stand beside was once rooted in its own home bringing it here holds a complexity that indigenous people, tribal peoples feel deeply in our teachings, the trees, rivers, mountains, all living beings are family more than the objects and more than the symbols that they might stand for.”

Travel warning issued as gangs carry out armed robberies in tropical hotspot
The U.S. Embassy San Jose has issued a security alert for Costa Rica.
The alert was issued on Nov. 25, citing reports of recent property crimes, financial crimes and robberies.
“Tourists have reported break-ins and armed robberies at Airbnbs and other rental properties,” the alert says.
NEW ADVISORY SAYS ‘TERRORIST GROUPS MAY ATTACK’ IN POPULAR SUNNY DESTINATION
Nearly 3 million people visited Costa Rica in 2024, according to Instituto Costarricense de Turismo.
The alert adds that criminal gangs have forced travelers to withdraw large sums of cash from ATMs or by making bank transfers.
“Do not display signs of wealth, such as wearing expensive jewelry or watches,” the Embassy advises.
Tourists are encouraged to avoid traveling alone, to stay vigilant when visiting banks or ATMs and to never leave valuables unattended in vehicles.

When renting a car, tourists are told to “double check [that the] vehicle is locked.” The alert added that “thieves often use signal blockers to prevent vehicles from locking with key fobs.”
As for financial crimes, tourists are encouraged to set daily withdrawal limits from bank accounts, minimize funds kept in any one account and discuss security strategies with their banks ahead of any trips.

‘Beloved’ doctor and his wife executed outside their home as police probe nearby suicide
A doctor and his wife were both shot to death outside their California home on Sunday, according to authorities.
The victims, Eric and Vicki Cordes, were found injured in the driveway of their Simi Valley residence, according to FOX 11 Los Angeles. They were found around noon on Sunday.
The two suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were rushed to a local hospital before being pronounced dead.
Eric Cordes was a board-certified radiologist who worked for Adventist Health Simi Valley.
THREE LANDSCAPE SUPPLY EMPLOYEES GUNNED DOWN IN TEXAS SHOOTING, POLICE SAY
Witnesses told FOX 11 that the shooting happened fast and that the suspect drove off after opening fire.
Hours after the shooting, officials found a charred vehicle and a body in Chino, California, over 60 miles away from Simi Valley.
The body and car were found in Ruben S. Ayala Park. Officials believe that the person in the car committed suicide, and that there may be a connection between the two scenes.
Speaking to FOX 11, Sgt. Rick Morton of the Simi Valley Police Department said that it’s rare for double homicides to happen in the city.

“We do believe the victims were targeted,” said Morton.
“We’ll have more information on that as the investigation proceeds further.”
In a statement obtained by FOX 11, Adventist Health Simi Valley said that it was “heartbroken by the tragic deaths” and called Eric Cordes a “highly respected” and “beloved” physician.

New TSA rule hits forgetful flyers with steep penalty at security checkpoints
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will begin charging passengers $45 if they show up at airport checkpoints without an acceptable form of identification, such as a passport or Real ID.
The policy will be implemented starting Feb. 1, 2026, following a proposed rule published in the Federal Register that noted a previous amount of $18.
After careful review, it was determined that the expenses for the new technology and operational costs were higher than originally projected, leading to an increase in the final fee, according to senior TSA officials.
NEW TSA POLICY MAY CHARGE PASSENGERS WHO DO NOT HAVE ACCEPTABLE IDS AT CHECKPOINTS
Travelers who do not have an acceptable form of identification will be able to go online to the TSA website to complete identification steps and pay the $45 fee.
The passenger then receives an email confirmation to present to the TSA officer prior to the checkpoint.
The process is predicted to take between 10 and 15 minutes — but could take 30 minutes or longer.
The confirmation will be valid for 10 days from the day of travel, the TSA said.

Senior TSA officials told Fox News Digital the fee is nonrefundable and is not guaranteed.
“Identity verification is essential to traveler safety, because it keeps terrorists, criminals and illegal aliens out of the skies and other domestic transportation systems such as rail,” said Adam Stahl of the TSA.
If the TSA is unable to identify a passenger, that individual will not be able to fly, in order to keep the system safe.

Trump MRI results drop as White House confronts questions over president’s health
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt released details on President Donald Trump’s MRI scan that was conducted in October, reading the results of the examination during Monday’s press briefing that showed he was in good health.
Trump’s health has fallen under increasing scrutiny from the media in recent months, including when it was revealed that Trump underwent a second routine physical for the year in October, which included an MRI scan. Leavitt reported the medical imaging procedure found Trump as healthy.
“As part of President Trump’s comprehensive executive physical advanced imaging was performed because men in his age group benefit from a thorough evaluation of cardiovascular and abdominal health,” Leavitt read from the report Monday.
“The purpose of this imaging is preventative to identify any issues early, confirm overall health, and ensure the president maintains long-term vitality and function,” Leavitt continued. “President Trump’s cardiovascular imaging was perfectly normal. No evidence of arterial narrowing impairing blood flow or abnormalities in the heart or major vessels. The heart chambers are normal in size, the vessel walls appear smooth and healthy, and there are no signs of inflammation or clotting. Overall, his cardiovascular system shows excellent health.”
WHITE HOUSE PROVIDES TRUMP HEALTH UPDATE AFTER MRI SCAN CONCERNS SWIRLED
Trump is the oldest man to be inaugurated president, with the media increasingly turning their attention to the president’s health after repeated photos since February show bruising on Trump’s hand, while photos from July showed the president with swollen legs.
TRUMP TO UNDERGO ‘ROUTINE’ YEARLY MEDICAL EXAM AT WALTER REED WHILE VISITING TROOPS IN MARYLAND
Leavitt, as well as Trump, repeatedly have brushed off questions and concern surrounding his health, pointing to physical examinations in April, and then again in October, that found the president “remains in excellent health.”
“His abdominal imaging is also perfectly normal. All major organs appear very healthy and well perfused,” Leavitt continued Monday of Trump’s MRI. “Everything evaluated is functioning within normal limits with no acute or chronic concerns. In summary, this level of detailed assessment is standard for an executive physical at President Trump’s age and confirms that he remains in excellent overall health.”
TRUMP DECLARED IN ‘EXCELLENT OVERALL HEALTH’ BY DOCTOR AFTER WALTER REED VISIT
“Again, we will provide that to you,” she added. “I think that’s quite a bit of detail. And in the effort of transparency, the president promised it last night and we have delivered today.”
Trump was questioned about the MRI Sunday evening, saying he would release the report while underscoring it was “perfect” and adding that it did not focus on scanning his brain.

“If they want to release it, it’s OK with me to release it,” Trump said. “It’s perfect.”
“If you want to have it released, I’ll release it,” he continued.
Media concern over Trump’s health follows the current White House’s repeated criticisms of journalists over their lack of reporting on then-President Joe Biden’s mental acuity and physical fitness when he served in the Oval Office.
The media did not have a large focus on Biden’s health until the election cycle, when he was pressed to drop out his re-election effort to retain the White House as political allies called on him to pass the torch to a younger generation. Biden ultimately dropped out of the race in July 2024.
Minnesota juror stunned as judge tosses $7.2M taxpayer fraud case with ‘obvious guilt’
A judge in Minnesota is facing heat after she overturned a guilty verdict for an individual convicted in a $7.2 million fraud scheme that involved taxpayer money.
Abdifatah Yusuf and his wife Lul Ahmed were charged in June 2024 after they were accused of stealing $7.2 million from the state’s Medicaid program while running a home healthcare business that lacked an office building and operated for “years out of a mailbox,” according to the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office.
Prosecutors said Yusuf received Medicaid money for services that weren’t provided and overbilled for services that didn’t have documentation. Yusuf allegedly used the money to fund a “lavish lifestyle” that included shopping sprees at “luxury clothing stores including Coach, Canada Goose, Michael Kors, Third Degree Heat, Nike, and Nordstrom.”
Yusuf directed over $1 million from the business account to his personal account and also withdrew over $387,000 in cash, the attorney general’s office said.
CAPITAL CITY DEMOCRATIC MAYOR, PROSECUTOR INDICTED IN UNDERCOVER BRIBERY STING
While Yusuf was found guilty of six counts of aiding and abetting theft by swindle (over $35,000) in August by a jury, the decision was overturned by Judge Sarah West in November, according to KARE.
West wrote in her decision that the case “relied heavily on circumstantial evidence,” adding that the state didn’t rule out other potential “reasonable inferences.”
The judge added she was, however, “troubled by the manner in which fraud was able to be perpetuated at Promise Health.”
Minnesota State Rep. Kristin Robbins said she was shocked upon hearing the guilty verdict was overturned.
“I was stunned. We want to strengthen state law so that we can get prosecutions out of these cases. Because clearly a jury thought he was guilty,” Robbins said.
The jury foreperson in Yusuf’s case, Ben Walfoort, said the decision to convict wasn’t complicated and was confused by West’s decision.
BLUE STATE JUDGE RELEASES MURDER SUSPECT WITHOUT MAKING HIM PAY A CENT IN BAIL, DESPITE GANG ALLEGATIONS
“It was not a difficult decision whatsoever. The deliberation took probably four hours at most. Based off of the state’s evidence that was presented, it was beyond a reasonable doubt,” Walfoort said. “I am shocked. I’m shocked based off of all of the evidence that was presented to us and the obvious guilt that we saw based off of the said evidence.”
Another jury member told the outlet that “we all came to an agreement pretty easily” regarding the verdict.
Yusuf’s attorney, Ian Birrell, praised West for the decision and said his client was wrongly accused, according to KARE.

“Judge West’s ruling affirms what we have maintained from the beginning: our client Mr. Yusuf was wrongfully accused and did not commit fraud or racketeering. The Court’s decision to enter judgments of acquittal on all charges reflects the fundamental principle that justice requires both fairness and proof. We appreciate the Court’s careful attention to the evidence and the law.”
The Minnesota Attorney General’s Office, led by Democrat Keith Ellison, has filed an appeal of West’s decision to overturn Yusuf’s verdict.
Minnesota has grappled with fraud problems, including the Feeding Our Future scheme, which involved hundreds of millions of dollars in embezzled COVID-19 funds. The alleged fraud stems from Minnesota’s Medicaid Housing Stabilization Services program, Feeding Our Future and other organizations.
President Donald Trump on Nov. 21 terminated deportation protections for Somalis in Minnesota, claiming that “Somali gangs are terrorizing the people of that great State, and BILLIONS of Dollars are missing.”
His decision came after a report from the Manhattan Institute, a conservative think tank, alleged that millions of dollars were being funneled to Al-Shabaab, a Somali terror group, related to the Feeding Our Future scam.
Fox News Digital reached out to a representative for West and Yusuf’s attorney for comment.
Costco sues to secure refunds if Supreme Court blocks Trump’s tariffs
Costco Wholesale Corporation is suing the federal government to block President Donald Trump’s emergency tariffs and recover the funds the retailer says it was improperly required to pay on imported goods.
The case, filed in the Court of International Trade, argues that Trump used an emergency-powers law to impose tariffs on goods from China, Mexico, Canada and dozens of other countries, even though the statute does not allow the president to create or raise tariffs.
Costco says it has paid these duties throughout the year and now faces a deadline that could prevent it from getting that money back.
The company says the government will begin finalizing – or “liquidating” – its import entries on or after Dec. 15. Once an entry is liquidated, the duty amount becomes locked, and importers may lose the ability to challenge or recover those charges.
NEW ‘CASH LAW’ COULD FORCE WALMART AND COSTCO TO TAKE YOUR MONEY THE OLD-FASHIONED WAY
Costco says one of its entries has already been finalized and more are approaching the cutoff, prompting the company to file its lawsuit immediately.
Costco is asking the court to declare the tariff orders invalid, block Customs and Border Protection from applying the tariffs to its shipments going forward and require the government to refund all duties the company has already paid under the emergency tariff program.
The filing puts Costco among a growing group of companies challenging the legality of Trump’s tariff actions.
TARGET SLASHES PRICES ON THOUSANDS OF ITEMS IN BID TO REVIVE SLIPPING SALES
Learning Resources, Inc., a maker of educational toys and classroom products, filed suit earlier this year, warning that the emergency tariffs would push its annual duty bill sharply higher.
V.O.S. Selections, Inc., a wine and spirits importer, has won major rulings striking down the tariff orders, sending the issue to the Supreme Court.
Other importers – including apparel companies, automotive-parts suppliers and consumer-goods distributors – have filed similar challenges arguing the tariffs triggered sudden cost increases and supply-chain disruptions that businesses could not absorb.
COSTCO RECALLS POPULAR READY-TO-EAT FOOD ITEMS OVER PLASTIC CONTAMINATION CONCERNS
Costco’s lawsuit draws on those earlier wins. Both the Court of International Trade and the Federal Circuit previously ruled that the emergency-powers law Trump invoked does not authorize tariffs.
But Costco argues those decisions alone will not guarantee refunds for companies unless they file their own cases before their entries are finalized.
FOX Business has reached out to Costco with questions regarding the lawsuit.
GET FOX BUSINESS ON THE GO BY CLICKING HERE
The Supreme Court heard arguments on the broader legal question last month, and a decision is expected soon.
That ruling could determine how quickly Costco’s case moves – and whether dozens of other companies will be able to seek refunds for tariffs they say were imposed without legal authority.
