Richard Gere says Trump’s effect on America is beyond ‘what anyone could ever imagine’
Actor Richard Gere suggested even the Dalai Lama couldn’t change President Donald Trump or the “astonishing” effect he’s had on the country.
The “Pretty Woman” actor spoke to Variety on Wednesday about his new documentary “Wisdom of Happiness,” which features comments from the Dalai Lama, whom Gere considers a close friend.
Gere said that hearing the Dalai Lama speak made him reflect on how the United States was on the “very wrong track,” but he doubted the Tibetan spiritual leader could influence Trump.
MARK HAMILL SAYS HE’S ‘REALLY ASHAMED’ AMERICA ELECTED TRUMP TWICE
“I don’t know that it would touch him,” Gere said. “I would hope that it would. I would pray that it would. But boy, I don’t know how you explain what he has done to this country, what it feels like to be an American now, 10 or 11 months in. It’s just astonishing. It’s beyond what anyone could ever imagine.”
He encouraged Americans to take responsibility for the leaders they elect and instead support people who can create a better world.
ACTOR MARTIN SHEEN CALLS TRUMP THE ‘BIGGEST NOTHING IN THE WORLD,’ OFFERS SPIRITUAL ADVICE
“If we want a world a certain way, then we have to elect leaders who have a similar vision to us and will lead us towards this higher level of possibility—who we are as individuals and how we can create a world, a society where people can live with each other rather than this battlefield every day, all day long, with the craziness,” Gere said. “Especially, as I say, coming from this very crude mentality that is now in our leadership.”
Fox News Digital reached out to the White House for comment.
Gere has made several comments against Trump since his re-election, saying in September that he “almost destroyed our country” in just six months.
ACTOR JOSH BROLIN PRAISES TRUMP AS MARKETING ‘GENIUS,’ SAYS HE KNOWS PRESIDENT AS ‘DIFFERENT GUY’
“We have a president who’s completely — he’s not only crazy. He’s a dark, dark presence. And it’s happened so quickly,” Gere said at the time.
In February, Gere criticized Trump as a “bully and a thug” and said that America was in a dark place.

“Authoritarianism takes us all over,” Gere continued. “We have to be vigilant. We have to be alert. We have to be energetic. We have to be brave. We have to be courageous. And everyone who’s watching this – in the Spanish-speaking world and elsewhere – we have to be willing to stand up, tell the truth, be honest. And there’s a place in all of our lives for basic kindness, for basic love and understanding.”
Halle Berry slams Gavin Newsom’s presidential hopes in scathing speech
Halle Berry called out California Gov. Gavin Newsom while delivering a speech about how women are viewed in Hollywood and across America.
Berry took the stage at the Dealbook Summit Wednesday and spoke about how women are “devalued,” particularly after they reach a certain age. The “Catwoman” star drew gasps from the audience while making her pointed comments and referencing Newsom, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“At this stage in my life, I have zero f—- left to give,” Berry told the crowd.
“Back in my great state of California, my very own governor, Gavin Newsom, has vetoed our menopause bill, not one, but two years in a row,” she added. “But that’s OK, because he’s not going to be governor forever, and the way he has overlooked women, half the population, by devaluing us, he probably should not be our next president either. Just saying.”
EX-BOND GIRL HALLE BERRY DOESN’T THINK MAKING 007 A WOMAN IS ‘THE RIGHT THING TO DO’
The bill, AB 432, introduced by Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan, had a goal of improving and expanding menopause care, mandating that a healthcare service plan or health insurer provide recommendations for menopause-related treatments. The bill would have also required healthcare providers to get training on menopause care, according to a press release from Bauer-Kahn.
Newsom vetoed the bill a second time in October.
Newsom told CBS News in October he is giving serious thought to running for president in 2028. The governor was also in attendance at Wednesday’s DealBook Summit.
Berry, who founded the menopause care company Respin, said she is considered “past my prime” in America as she nears 60.
“In 2025, there is a lot to still be talked about and discovered and uncovered, especially if you are a woman who is navigating midlife and thoughtfully considering your longevity, because in 2025 I, Halle Berry, and women of my age are simply devalued in this country,” she said. “Our culture thinks that, at 59 years old, I am past my prime, and that women my age start to become invisible in Hollywood, in the workplace, on social media.
“Women are pressured to stay forever 35,” Berry continued. “We’re complimented if we seem to be aging backwards or defying gravity, as if that’s even possible, and if we somehow manage to look younger than our years, it’s suggested that’s the gold standard that our worth should be measured by.”

Berry admitted she feels pressure to give in to the increasingly popular trend of plastic surgery in Hollywood.
“We’re encouraged to contort our bodies and our faces in truly extreme ways to chase this elusive fountain of youth,” she said. “And, sadly, I have to admit, I too feel this pressure every single day.
“I feel that pressure to change myself in order to stay seen as relevant and desirable.”

Berry also shared a personal story from her childhood in Cleveland. The “Die Another Day” actress recalled being bullied and beaten up by other kids after getting off the bus.
“As they walked off laughing, I was left to pick myself up shirtless out of the gutter. And I did that, but I was humiliated because I had allowed myself to be treated this way. I made the choice to accept it,” Berry said. “I didn’t tell anybody. When they told me they were going to beat the s— out of me, I just said, ‘OK, I deserve it. I guess I’m just going to take it. I have no choice.’
“But as I was walking home, I said, ‘No. I’m never going to allow this to happen to me again,’” she continued. “‘I’m never not going to stand up for myself. I’ll never allow myself to be a victim like that.’ And since I was in the sixth grade, I have never allowed myself to be misused or abused or mistreated in any way.”

Legendary guitarist who shaped Memphis sound and influenced generations dies at 84
Steve Cropper, Blues Brothers band member and Booker T. & the MG’s guitarist, has died. He was 84.
Pat Mitchell Worley, president and CEO of the Soulsville Foundation, told the Associated Press that Cropper’s family notified her of his death. Cropper died Wednesday in Nashville, according to Worley.
Worley’s foundation operates at the Stax Museum of American Soul Music in Memphis, where Cropper’s former employer, Stax Records, used to be.
A cause of death for Cropper has not been shared. Eddie Gore, a longtime friend of Cropper, told the outlet that he visited the musician at a rehabilitation center on Tuesday. Gore said that he suffered a recent fall and was working with Cropper on producing new music.

Cropper was a key figure in shaping the Memphis music scene. Cropper’s name is featured in Sam & Dave’s 1967 hit “Soul Man.” Sam Moore says “Play it, Steve!” before the guitarist takes it away.
In 2020, Cropper spoke to the Associated Press about his career.

“I listen to the other musicians and the singer. I’m not listening to just me. I make sure I’m sounding OK before we start the session. Once we’ve presented the song, then I listen to the song and the way they interpret it. And I play around all that stuff. That’s what I do. That’s my style,” Cropper said at the time.

Erika Kirk dismantles liberal talking point in response to her husband’s assassination
Erika Kirk, Turning Point USA CEO and the widow of conservative icon Charlie Kirk, rejected the argument that gun violence was the root problem that led to her husband’s assassination.
On Wednesday, Kirk sat down with journalist Andrew Ross Sorkin to close out The New York Times DealBook Summit, a coveted spot that has previously featured luminaries such as Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos. Sorkin noted that her husband was slated to appear at the DealBook Summit before his assassination.
Sorkin said that the subject of gun violence was something he and Charlie Kirk had often debated in the wake of mass shootings in America.
“He was a real believer, as you know, in the Second Amendment, and I’m curious how you think today about gun violence in America, given what happened to him,” Sorkin said.
“It’s a thoughtful question,” Kirk responded. “And I wouldn’t wish upon anyone what I have been through. And I support the Second Amendment as well. I do. But there’s a bigger and much deeper conversation to all of that.”
ERIKA KIRK SHARES EMOTIONAL THANKSGIVING MESSAGE HONORING CHARLIE: ‘WHAT REMAINS IS SACRED’
Kirk said when visiting college campuses, the counselors always say that the top issues students are facing are “mental health, anxiety [and] depression.”
“And what Charlie knew, and he was trying to explain to students on campus, was that you have to understand that brain health is so important — how you eat, how you take care of yourself, how you nourish yourself, how you rest. And to him, it was much more deeper and intricate,” Kirk told Sorkin at the DealBook Summit.
“And what I’ve realized through all of this is that you can have — you can have individuals that will always resort to violence. And what I’m afraid of is that we are living in a day and age where they think violence is the solution to them not wanting to hear a different point of view. That’s not a gun problem. That’s a human, deeply human problem. That is a soul problem. That is a mental — that is a very deeper issue,” she continued.

Kirk also revealed that she had removed all social media from her phone following her husband’s murder.
“Social media, like many things, it can be used for such good. And it can be used for such evil,” Kirk said. “And Charlie and I both intentionally, especially after he was murdered, I took it all off my phone. I don’t even have news apps on my phone. I have nothing on my phone. I let other people post for me and siphon through those comments. That is not — I do not have the brain space for that, and it would not be healthy for me either. I get called so many names, I genuinely don’t care. I really don’t. I told you this before — when you cast the bloody dead body of the person that you love, it pales in comparison to being called x, y, z.”
She went on to say that while Charlie “understood the importance of social media,” he would also “honor the Sabbath” and have them turn off their phones each week.
“It did not happen overnight. This is something that he leaned into. And on Friday night, when he would get home from work, he would turn off his phone and he would shove it in the junk drawer, and he would say, ‘Shabbat Shalom,’ shove it in the drawer, and he was full Dad mode, fooling with the kids, sports mode on Saturdays for college football, and he could breathe,” Kirk said.He had this sacred moment to just breathe and to rest and get away from the chatter, get away from the world and just have a moment to understand that life is so much bigger than the To-Do list, than the small problem that you’re facing that you’ll laugh at five years or five months, or five minutes from now. And he was really good about that.”

Florida city at tipping point: ‘We won’t become the next New York,’ vows mayor candidate
EXCLUSIVE: Miami Republican mayoral candidate Emilio Gonzalez is accusing his progressive Democratic opponent Eileen Higgins of wanting to “create a city of renters” despite pushing a message of affordability. Instead, he is proposing a plan to turn Miami into a “city of owners.”
Gonzalez and Higgins will face off in a runoff election on Dec. 9 after none of the candidates reached 50% of the vote on election night on Nov. 4. Higgins won 35.96% of the vote while Gonzalez took home 19.47%.
Higgins, a Miami-Dade County commissioner who resigned her office to run for mayor, has emphasized “building an affordable and prosperous future.” She has touted her successes as county commissioner in investing nearly $3 million in small business grants and investments in building nearly 7,000 affordable housing units.
However, in an interview with Fox News Digital, Gonzalez, who is an Army veteran, former West Point teacher and business leader, warned that while Higgins has emphasized affordability in her campaign, her policies would stunt the American dream and keep citizens in perpetual renter status.
DESANTIS-BACKED GONZALEZ, DEMOCRAT COUNTY COMMISSIONER HIGGINS HEAD TO RUNOFF IN MIAMI MAYOR RACE
Gonzalez has been endorsed by President Donald Trump, Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis and Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla.
“She can point to some votes on a county commission to help put up a building here or a building there. But it really doesn’t move the needle,” Gonzalez told Fox News Digital. “The affordability issue, it sounds very nice, but it means absolutely nothing because she really hasn’t done much when it comes to affordability.”
“Right now, Miami is so expensive. Nothing is affordable,” he continued. “We’re in a situation where our young people, once they graduate from college, they have to leave because the jobs here don’t pay enough. The apartments cost too much. Forget about a mortgage. There’s nothing in Miami that sells for less than five, six hundred thousand dollars right now. And the jobs will not support that.”
Meanwhile, he went after Higgins for talking up her belief in affordability while he said, “She wants to create a city of renters.”
“I, on the other hand, want to create a city of owners. I want property owners,” he said. “They want to talk about affordability, everybody does. They want to talk about the challenges of public transportation, everybody does. But it comes down to what is the solution, and that’s where I think we differ.”
LARGE CITY SIGNS ONTO DEAL WITH ICE: ‘KEEP THE AMERICAN PEOPLE SAFE’
“We have vastly different views on how to move the city forward and what’s best for our residents. She believes in a very statist approach where the government needs to go out and help people build, build, build, build, build, and never to own, but just to rent,” he said. “And I’m about making sure that our residents have enough money in their pocket so that they can afford to buy a home and buy that first a condominium or buy that starter home.”
“The last thing I’m going to do is allow Miami to fall into the same trap that you’ve seen… in New York or Chicago, which is bankrupt, or L.A., which is quite frankly, looks like a wasteland in the downtown area. That’s not going to happen in Miami, it’s not.”
He praised DeSantis for advancing an agenda of eliminating property taxes in Florida, a policy he said he would implement if elected Miami mayor.
“I applaud Gov. DeSantis wanting to do away with property taxes. We can do that. And we can do that and not skip a beat,” he said. “Right now, property taxes make up less than 7% of the city’s budget. You know what? I think we can find 7% in efficiencies to offset that.”
“That’s just the beginning,” he went on, adding, “I think there are other opportunities that we have to put money in people’s pockets through efficiencies, through leveraging our resources and making this place affordable again.”
TRUMP-BACKED REPUBLICAN TOUTS ‘GREAT TURNOUT FOR US’ IN MUST-WIN SPECIAL ELECTION FOR GOP
Despite Higgins’ election night lead, Gonzalez said he is optimistic about his chances of success.
“This is a generational election,” he said. “It’s not going to be an easy race. It’ll be a tight race. It’s probably going to be maybe a five-point race. But we’re not letting up at all. We refuse to give up our future.”

Pointing to other U.S. cities, such as New York City, and countries like Cuba, that have embraced socialist policies, Gonzalez said, “The residents of Miami, the vast majority of whom came from socialist countries where socialists took over and destroyed their cities and their homes and their families, they don’t want that here.”
“We see what’s happened in other cities in the U.S. and… they do not want that here. And I am their candidate, and I’m going to make sure that that doesn’t happen here, even though it’s happened in other places in Latin America and in the United States.”
Fox News Digital reached out to Higgins’ campaign for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
The winner of the runoff election will replace Republican Mayor Francis Suarez, who is term-limited.
‘Trainwreck’ star addresses recent health struggles after deadly diagnosis
Amy Schumer isn’t holding back.
The comedian, 44, is doubling down on her dramatic physical transformation — and the serious medical emergency that pushed her there.
Schumer, who recently displayed a toned figure and flat abs in a no-filter mirror selfie, continues to spark conversation online, after sharing unfiltered and candid new photos.
“I never ever wear jewelry I don’t get Botox or filler,” she said in a now-deleted Instagram post, immediately shutting down speculation about cosmetic enhancements.
“I didn’t lose 30lbs — I lost 50,” she emphasized on social media.
AMY SCHUMER DISPLAYS ‘LEGS FOR DAYS’ AS COMEDIAN CONTINUES HER WEIGHT-LOSS JOURNEY
Schumer said the weight loss wasn’t a Hollywood makeover moment — it was about staying alive.
“Not to look hot, which does feel fun and temporary,” she explained. “I did it to survive. I had a disease that makes your face extremely puffy that can kill you, but the internet caught it and that disease has cleared.”
The actress previously revealed she was diagnosed with Cushing syndrome, a hormonal disorder that can cause extreme swelling, fatigue and potentially fatal complications.
The diagnosis came after months of online commenters pointing out drastic changes in her face. Now she’s unapologetically addressing the intense scrutiny surrounding her transformation.

“Sorry for whatever feeling it’s giving you that I lost that weight,” she said. “I’ve had plastic surgery over the years and I use [mounjaro]. Sorry to anyone they let down. I’m pain free. I can [play] tag with my son.”
Schumer previously praised the effects of Mounjaro (also known as tirzepatide). She opened up about Ozempic struggles and the success of the injectable medication, which is primarily used to treat Type 2 diabetes.
The star’s new photos showed her noticeably slimmer after years of chronic pain and medical battles.

Browns’ $230M ‘big swing and miss’ Watson returns as Sanders takes reins
Just as Shedeur Sanders is settling in as the Cleveland Browns quarterback, the signal-caller the team signed to a $230 million deal is back on the field for the first time in over a year.
Deshaun Watson tore his Achilles tendon Oct. 20, 2024, and did so again in January, delaying his return.
But the Browns opened Watson’s 21-day window to return Wednesday, just as Sanders is prepping for the third start of his NFL career.

“He’s been working so hard, rehabbing. So, finally, to get out there on the practice field with his teammates, go through individual, I think is really great for him,” Coach Kevin Stefanski said. “Our focus is activating this practice window, seeing him on the practice field, getting him into individual, those type of things. He’s done everything that’s asked of him. He’s been so supportive in the meeting room on the game field with the players. Now he gets to go do that on the practice field.”
Watson is 9-10 as Cleveland’s starter. He has 19 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and a passer rating of 80.7. He’s also unpopular among fans after the Browns sent five draft picks to Houston, including three first-round selections, and signed him to a fully guaranteed contract widely regarded as one of the worst in league history.

Trump promises Americans $100,000,000,000 in savings on the table with new plan
President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday afternoon a reset of federal fuel standards that heightened under the Biden administration, which the White House said will save “$109 billion in total” for American families.
“We’re officially terminating Joe Biden’s ridiculously burdensome, horrible, actually, CAFE standards that imposed expensive restrictions and all sorts of problems, gave all sorts of problems, to automakers,” Trump said.
“And we’re not only talking about outside of our country, because nobody could do it. Nobody wanted to do it. And it was ridiculous, very expensive. It put tremendous upward pressure on car prices, combined with the insane electric vehicle mandate. Biden’s burdensome regulations have caused the price of cars to soar more than 25%, and in one case, they went up 18% in one year,” he continued.
Fox News Digital exclusively reported on details ahead of the event, including that Ford’s and Stellantis’ CEOs, as well as General Motors’ plant manager, would gather in the Oval Office on Wednesday afternoon, where Trump will announce a “historic reset of the CAFE standards that were created by the Biden administration,” according to the White House.
“As America’s largest auto producer, we appreciate President Trump’s leadership in aligning fuel economy standards with market realities,” Ford CEO Jim Farley said ahead of the announcement. “We can make real progress on carbon emissions and energy efficiency while still giving customers choice and affordability. This is a win for customers and common sense.”
FEDERAL JUDGE ORDERS TRUMP ADMIN TO RELEASE EV FUNDS SIGNED BY BIDEN TO STATES
Corporate Average Fuel Economy, or CAFE standards, first enacted in 1975, are government regulations for the average fuel efficiency of a vehicle fleet that aim to lower emissions.
Trump rolled back aggressive standards put forth by the Obama administration under his first term in office, with Biden subsequently resetting and tightening the CAFE standards under his administration.
The Biden administration, for example, boosted fuel efficiency requirements by 8% for 2024 and 2025 model years and 10% for 2026, which was far higher than Trump’s 1.5% that was finalized under his first term and applied to car model years 2021–2026. The Trump White House argued that the aggressive standards set under the Biden-era were not feasible to meet with available technologies for gas cars, and that the standards would have compelled consumers to shift to electric vehicles.
AUTO STOCKS MIXED AFTER TRUMP SIGNS ROLLBACK OF CALIFORNIA EV MANDATE
“Today, we’re taking one more step to kill the Green New scam as part of the greatest scam, probably,” Trump continued, adding that a few other scandals could also be considered the “greatest scam.”
“The greatest scam in American history, the Green New Scam. And it’s a quest to end the gasoline-powered car. This is what they wanted to do, even though we have more gasoline than any other country by far. And people want the gasoline car. They want everything. They want electric. They want to have lots of alternatives. But they do want the gasoline car. Right now, it’s leading away by a lot,” Trump said during the event.
The White House told Fox Digital earlier on Wednesday that the Biden-era regulations would have raised the average cost of a new car by nearly $1,000, relative to the cost under these reset standards, and that Trump’s actions would save American families $109 billion.
Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa added in comment ahead of the announcement that the company looks forward to continuing working with the administration to “allow us to offer our customers the freedom to choose the vehicles they want at prices they can afford.”
“Stellantis appreciates the Trump Administration’s actions to re-align the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards with real world market conditions as part of its wider vision for a growing US automotive industry. We look forward to working further with NHTSA on environmentally responsible policies that also allow us to offer our customers the freedom to choose the vehicles they want at prices they can afford,” Filosa said.
“GM supports the goals of NHTSA’s proposed CAFE rule and its intention to better align fuel economy standards with market realities,” GM said in comment to Fox News Digital ahead of the event. “We have long advocated for one national standard that upholds customer choice and provides the auto industry long-term stability. As we review the proposal, we remain committed to offering the best and broadest portfolio of electric and gas-powered vehicles on the market.”
TRUMP REVEALS THE ‘SURPRISING’ MOMENT HIS FRIENDSHIP WITH MUSK BEGAN TO UNRAVEL
Trump has taken a series of actions since his return to the Oval Office that specifically target vehicles and environmental regulations that he has argued are intended to force electric vehicles on the general public, while driving up costs. In June, Trump signed a joint resolution that effectively ended California’s electric vehicle mandate.
The joint resolution ended California’s plan to end the sale of gasoline-only vehicles by 2035, including one ending a waiver issued by the Biden-era EPA that mandated at least 80% of vehicles be electric vehicles in California by 2035, as well as ended the Biden-era EPA’s approval of a plan to increase the number of zero-emission heavy-duty trucks in California.

Under Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act — which was a massive piece of legislation Trump signed into law in July that advances his agenda on taxes, immigration, energy, defense and the national debt — civil penalties for violating CAFE standards were dropped to $0, which protected the car industry from significant fines.
Adams issues orders blocking NYC from boycotting Israel as clash with mayor-elect escalates
Outgoing New York City New York City Mayor Eric Adams signed two executive orders Wednesday aimed at countering antisemitism and preventing city funds from supporting the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.
The New York Post reported that Adams barred city business or pension investment decisions that discriminate against Israel, a move that could be viewed as a challenge to Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, who supports the BDS movement.
While speaking at a conference in New Orleans sponsored by the North American Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism, Adams said his administration “recognizes the benefit of maintaining a strong relationship between the city of New York and the state of Israel,” according to The Post.
The second order issued by the mayor would call for tighter enforcement from the New York City Police Department to help protect synagogues and other religious worshipers from harassment.

The new orders heighten an ideological clash between Adams and Mamdani, who can decide whether to scrap the orders after taking office on Jan. 1.
Mamdani’s team did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
In an interview on Nov. 4 with MSNBC, Mamdani’s defended his support for the (BDS) movement, saying it was a way to pressure Israel to comply with international law.

“And I’ve said, I support BDS because this is a movement that is looking for that kind of compliance. We haven’t seen it,” he said.
“Morning Joe” co-host Willie Geist asked Mamdani, “Would BDS be the policy of your administration as mayor?”
“I’ve said that I would support and have supported non-violent movements to bring about compliance with international law,” Mamdani replied. “And where this mayor [Eric Adams] has violated and looked to violate that kind of law, I would bring us back into compliance.”

Mamdani added during the interview that he would be the mayor for all Jewish New Yorkers.
According to The Post, New York City registered over $32 billion in procurement contracts with outside vendors in the 2024 fiscal year, and maintains five pension systems that support over 750,000 employees, retirees and beneficiaries. They also invest nearly $300 billion in securities in the global marketplace, including over $300 million in Israeli assets.
The pair of executive orders came a week after protesters chanted “globalize the intifada” and “death to the IDF” outside a New York City synagogue, according to The Post.

Adams said his administration was “ensuring our city government doesn’t participate in that type of behavior and are putting in safeguards that protect New Yorkers’ tax dollars and protect their right to practice their religion without harassment.”
Following Wednesday’s conference, the mayor posted on X that he “discussed and shared how we’re governing through the rising tide of hate, fear, and misinformation in our cities so we can better protect ALL communities.”
Adams asserted that “we cannot stand by as antisemitism or any other form of hate spreads.”
“We must loudly defend the Jewish people,” he added.
