Erika Kirk has announced that she is to meet privately with commentator Candace Owens marking the first direct conversation between the two after a period of public discussion and differing perspectives that emerged after her late husband’s death.

Kirk shared the update in a brief statement on X on Sunday, saying both women had agreed to pause all public commentary until after the meeting.

“Candace Owens and I are meeting for a private, in-person discussion on Monday, December 15,” Erika said.

“@RealCandaceO and I have agreed that public discussions, livestreams, and tweets are on hold until after this meeting. I look forward to a productive conversation. Thank you,” Erika added.

The planned discussion between Erika and the former Turning Point USA employee reflects an effort by the women to address weeks of mounting tensions over conspiracy theories online in a more thoughtful and personal setting.

At a recent CBS town hall Erika expressed the emotional toll of widespread online speculation surrounding her husband’s passing, “Stop. That’s it. That’s all I have to say. Stop.” when asked what she had to say to people making unfounded claims.

“When you go after my family, my Turning Point USA family, my Charlie Kirk Show family, when you go after the people that I love, and you’re making hundreds and thousands of dollars every single episode going after the people that I love because somehow they’re in on this, no,” Erika also said on “Outnumbered” Dec. 10.

The relationship between the two women has deteriorated sharply in recent months, despite their earlier history of collaboration and personal friendship.

The recent events have placed them on different sides of a sensitive moment and their decision to meet privately shows signs of a mutual desire to speak directly while reducing misunderstandings and avoiding further speculation.

In the aftermath of a deadly terror attack at a Hanukkah celebration on Sydney’s Bondi Beach, Dionne Taylor, a senior figure in the community, says the most painful reality is that the violence did not come without warning.

“We have been completely let down by our government,” Taylor, the communications manager of the Australia/Israel Jewish Affairs Council, told Fox News Digital in a Zoom interview. “We warned them that this snowball effect was going to happen, and it was only a matter of time before someone got killed.”

The shooting took place Sunday evening during a public Hanukkah event at Bondi Beach, killing at least 15 people and wounding dozens, according to Reuters and The Associated Press. Australian authorities have described the attack as an act of terrorism targeting the Jewish community.

Police said the suspected attackers were a father and his adult son. The father was killed at the scene, while the son was shot by police and taken to a hospital in critical condition.

GAL GADOT, ASHTON KUTCHER CONDEMN ANTISEMITIC TERROR ATTACK AT BONDI BEACH HANUKKAH EVENT

Taylor, who lives a 10-minute walk from Bondi Beach, said the attack was not an isolated act of violence, but the culmination of years of escalating antisemitism that authorities failed to confront.

“It started with hate speech,” she said. “Then graffiti. Then public demonstrations. Then firebombing synagogues, preschools, people’s homes, people’s cars. And now murder.”

She said Jewish leaders and community representatives repeatedly raised alarms with state and federal officials, warning that inaction would lead to bloodshed. Taylor pointed to formal submissions and a detailed report produced by Australia’s special envoy to combat antisemitism, which she said was acknowledged by the government but never implemented.

PATRICIA HEATON WARNS AMERICA COULD FACE ‘ANOTHER 9/11’ IF NATION IGNORES RISING ANTISEMITISM, RADICAL ISLAM

Instead, Taylor said, the Jewish community received what she described as empty reassurances. “We receive these one-line messages that there’s ‘no place for antisemitism in Australia,’” she said. “But they’re empty promises. There’s been no action.”

Taylor said the failure to act has had broader consequences for Australian society as a whole.

“There’s been a number of situations that have led to the complete erosion of social cohesion here in Australia, a relaxed immigration policy, letting in too many refugees from the wrong places, a rise of radical Islamism and a basically slick government that really hasn’t assisted or supported the Jewish community and other communities,” Taylor said. “So this attack, while it was a targeted attack on the Jewish community, is actually a targeted attack across the whole of Australia.”

TRUMP ENCOURAGES JEWISH AMERICANS TO ‘CELEBRATE PROUDLY’ DURING HANUKKAH AFTER DEADLY BONDI BEACH SHOOTING

Bondi Beach, she noted, is one of the country’s most iconic and densely populated public spaces, drawing tourists and locals from around the world. “People who were sitting on the beach last night were not just there for the Hanukkah festival,” Taylor said. “Yes, the people who were shot were participants of the festival, but there are hundreds of thousands of people sitting on that beach on a Sunday afternoon. It’s summer. It’s exactly what’s described as the happy place in the world.”

“But it’s not anymore,” she added. “We’re broken. Our country is ruined.”

Among the victims, Taylor said, was a 10-year-old girl who later died of her wounds and a Holocaust survivor who had sought refuge in Australia decades earlier.

“Australia is the home to [one of] the largest Holocaust survivor community,” she said. “They came here seeking peace and safety, a better life. And now one of them has fallen victim to terrorism here.”

The violence also struck close to home for Taylor’s organization. She said Arsen Ostrovsky, the newly appointed head of AIJAC’s Sydney office, was shot at the festival and remains hospitalized.

“He moved back to Australia with his wife and children just two weeks ago,” Taylor said. “He survived reporting after Oct. 7 in Israel, and now he’s become a victim of that same bloodshed here.”

EYEWITNESS TO AUSTRALIA TERROR ATTACK DESCRIBES ‘PANDEMONIUM’ DURING DEADLY SHOOTING AT HANUKKAH EVENT

Australian leaders have condemned the attack and pledged to review security and counterterrorism measures. Police presence has been increased around synagogues and Jewish institutions and Hanukkah events across the country have been canceled.

Taylor said the trauma has forced painful conversations in her own home about whether Australia remains a safe place to raise a Jewish family.

“After Oct. 7, many people made plans to make aliyah to Israel,” she said. “We discussed it as a family. We decided our life was better here. And now we’re asking ourselves, how is our life better here?”

She said support from non-Jewish Australians has been overwhelming, with people lining up to donate blood and reaching out to offer help. Still, she warned that the government must act decisively.

“I would hope that this is a big wake-up call for our current government,” Taylor said. “This is an attack on the whole of Australia. So they’ve lost 15 of their citizens in one day and they’re powerless to stop it. So if they can’t make changes and improvements to not only protect the Jewish community, but to protect the broader Australian community from terrorism, then they need to do that. And I believe they know they need to do it. I just don’t think they know how.”

Former FBI special agent says investigators must ‘go back to drawing board’

Former
FBI special agent
Nicole Parker told “Fox & Friends First” that the detention and subsequent release of a person of interest in the Brown University shooting is how investigations work in the “real world.”

Parker said that while the release of the person of interest is “obviously not very good for this investigation,” it “does happen.”

“This is how investigations in the real world work,” Parker said. “We’re used to watching television shows, movies where it’s solved within 60 minutes, and that’s not always the case.”

Parker said that the investigation remains “an all hands on deck” situation for authorities as they continue to hunt the gunman.

“They’ve got to go back to the drawing board,” she said of the investigators.

Parker said that as an investigator, it’s important to look whether the shooter was firing indiscriminately into the classroom or appeared to be a more targeted attack based on the victims.

Brown University urges community to ‘be vigilant’ as police search for gunman

Brown University urged its community to remain vigilant in a message late Sunday night after Providence police released a detained person of interest from custody and reset its manhunt for the gunman who killed two students and wounded nine others on Saturday.

“As Providence police continue to lead this investigation, they have informed Brown that they are continuing their search efforts, which includes ongoing coordination with multiple agencies,” the message read, in part. “There continues to be a heightened amount of local, state and federal police activity in the area as law enforcement continues to investigate and patrol with increased vigilance.”

The school said its Department of Public Safety has more than doubled its staffing following the deadly shooting.

Brown acknowledged that there will be “numerous questions” surrounding the latest update, advising that the shooting remains an active investigation and police will release information as appropriate.

“We continue to make every effort to ensure the safety and security of the campus,” the school said. “We are also advising every member of the Brown community to be vigilant in their own activities on campus.”

Providence on alert as Brown University gunman remains at large

Authorities said the video showing a man dressed in all black is still the “most useful” to help track down the Brown University shooter.

Rhode Island AG Peter Neronha said if there was piece of video that they could use to show a face “you’d have it.”

This update comes after police said they would release a person of interest that was taken into custody.

According to video footage released by police, the suspected gunman was seen leaving the building on foot.

The unidentified gunman appeared to be in his 30s, and was dressed in all black, according to Providence police.

Rhode Island AG spars with press over lack of cameras in Brown University shooting

“There just weren’t a lot of cameras in that Brown building, is the reality,” Neronha said.

“The reality is it’s an old building attached to a new one,” he added. “I don’t know what to tell you, but we’re going to go out and find whatever evidence we can to solve this case as quickly as we can.”

“I mean, we’re not holding back a video that we think would be useful. And I don’t think I should even have to say it.”

FIRST ON FOX — Federal authorities say they disrupted a credible terrorist threat over the weekend, arresting four alleged members of a radical pro-Palestinian extremist group accused of planning coordinated New Year’s Eve bombings in Los Angeles.

The FBI told Fox News Digital that the members self-identified as part of a radical offshoot of the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF), an extremist group motivated by pro-Palestinian, anti-law-enforcement, and anti-government ideology.

According to the FBI, they were allegedly planning coordinated bombing attacks on New Year’s Eve using improvised explosive devices, targeting five separate locations across Los Angeles.

The agency said the four were arrested in Lucerne Valley, where they were believed to be preparing to test explosive devices ahead of the planned attacks. They have each been charged with conspiracy and possession of a destructive device.

The latest episode of the Paramount+ drama “Landman” mocked ABC’s “The View” as a show about “a bunch of pissed-off millionaires” on Sunday.

“The Pirate Dinner,” the fifth episode of the show’s second season, featured a conversation between Tommy Norris, played by Billy Bob Thornton, and his father T.L., played by Sam Elliott. As they talk, Tommy suggests to his father that he watch “The View” to pass the time. T.L. then asks Tommy what “The View” is.

Congressional report says DC police chief ‘undermined crime data accuracy’

The top police official in Washington, D.C., pressured commanders to lower classifications of crime and retaliated against those who reported spikes, creating a widespread culture of fear and distorted public data, according to a new congressional report.

An interim report from the House Oversight Committee released on Sunday claims that outgoing Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Chief Pamela Smith, who announced her resignation on Dec. 8, oversaw an unprecedented system of intervention in crime reporting.

The Republican-led committee alleges that Smith, who is expected to remain in the position through the end of the year, pressured commanders on numerous occasions, and at times instructed them to downgrade offenses and avoid classifications that would appear on the city’s Daily Crime Report.

“By pressuring her command staff to alter classifications for the sole purpose of artificially reducing crime numbers reported out to the public, Chief Smith incentivized the manipulation of crime numbers, which do not adequately account for the crime taking place in D.C.,” the report reads in part.

TRUMP PRAISES DEMOCRATIC DC MAYOR FOR WORKING WITH HIS ADMINISTRATION ON CRIME CRACKDOWN

The findings, based on eight transcribed interviews with MPD district commanders, describe a toxic management environment in which accuracy was sacrificed for optics, and career officials faced public humiliation or demotion for presenting Smith with unfavorable crime statistics.

MPD did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment about the report.

“Briefings with Chief Smith involved public chastisement to the point commanders expressed feeling like they were being treated as if they had committed the crimes themselves,” the report stated.

THREE DC HOMICIDES IN SIX HOURS TEST TRUMP’S CLAIM OF SAFER WASHINGTON

“On two occasions I had… robbery sprees, and I think I had, like, 13 robberies in over a night period, a day period,” said one MPD commander who is identified only as “Commander E” in the report. “And, yeah, I was – usually you have, there’s – an order of how you brief out, but at the very beginning of the crime briefing, the chief said, ‘I need to see [Commander E] up front to brief first.’ So I got up there and I was basically admonished. I was like, ‘How could I let these robberies happen?’ It was embarrassing, but it happened. And then it stemmed other meetings after that to sit down and kind of drill down to what’s happening. I did feel like I did the robberies after I left. I literally was, like, I swear I did not commit them.”

The committee’s investigation unfolded against the backdrop of President Donald Trump’s federal crime crackdown in the nation’s capital. In August, Trump issued an executive order to address the “epidemic of crime” in the district and deployed federal law enforcement personnel, including the National Guard.

Several commanders told the committee the surge had been helpful in supplementing the department’s resources.

Mayor Muriel Bowser noted last week that D.C. homicides are down 30% this year.

Bowser told Fox News Digital in a statement: “The men and women of the Metropolitan Police Department run towards danger every day to reduce homicides, carjackings, armed robberies, sexual assaults, and more. The precipitous decline in crime in our city is attributable to their hard work and dedication and Chief Smith’s leadership.”

“I thank Chief Smith for her commitment to the safety of DC residents and for holding the Metropolitan Police Department to an exacting standard, and I expect no less from our next Chief of Police,” she added.

McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski recently shared some blunt career advice and warned viewers it may “hurt your feelings.”

Vanderbilt star’s fiery meltdown targets Heisman voters after crushing defeat

While Fernando Mendoza is enjoying his Heisman Trophy victory as he prepares for the Indiana Hoosiers’ College Football Playoff run, Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia, one of the Heisman finalists, is not happy with how the voters came to their result on Saturday night.

Pavia, the Commodores’ veteran signal caller, was blunt about how he felt about Mendoza winning in New York City.

As he made a post to his Instagram Stories of a photo with a few of his Commodores teammates, Pavia gave his thoughts on the voters.

“F-All the voters,” he wrote with a thumbs-down emoji. “But…family for life.”

Pavia, 23, finished in second place, though it was distant after receiving 189 first-place votes to Mendoza’s 643 votes.

INDIANA’S FERNANDO MENDOZA WINS 2025 HEISMAN TROPHY

On Sunday night, Pavia issued an apology on X.

“Being a part of the Heisman ceremony last night as a finalist was such an honor. As a competitor, just like in everything I do I wanted to win,” he wrote. “To be so close to my dream and come up short was painful. I didn’t handle those emotions well at all and did not represent myself the way I wanted to. I have much love and respect for the Heisman voters and the selection process, and I apologize for being disrespectful. It was a mistake, and I am sorry.

“Fernando Mendoza is an elite competitor and a deserving winner of the award. I have nothing but respect for his accomplishments as well as the success that Jeremiyah and Julian had this season. I’ve been doubted my whole life.

“Every step of my journey I’ve had to break down doors and fight for myself, because Ive learned that nothing would be handed to me. My family has always been in my corner, and my teammates, coaches and staff have my six. I love them — I am grateful for them. — and I wouldn’t want anything to distract from that. I look forward to competing in front of my family and with my team one more time in the ReliaQuest Bowl.”

Mendoza led the Hoosiers to a Big Ten Championship win over Ohio State to stay undefeated, setting them up as the No. 1 overall seed in the College Football Playoff.

However, Mendoza naysayers pointed out that he had just 2,980 yards passing, though he threw for a Big Ten-leading 33 touchdowns with only six interceptions thrown in 13 games. Mendoza added six touchdowns on the ground as well on 69 attempts.

Meanwhile, Pavia, playing in his second season at Vanderbilt after starting at New Mexico State, led the SEC with a 71.2% completion rate with 27 touchdowns, 3,192 yards passing and nine rushing scores as well. He rushed for 826 yards on 152 attempts.

Pavia’s reaction to the voting results isn’t much of a shock, though, as he has always been self-confident to the point where he kept telling voters to send him to New York City as he felt he deserved the Heisman.

“The Heisman Trophy winner goes to the best player in college football,” Pavia said on OutKick’s “Hot Mic.” “I believe that to be myself, you check the numbers and especially — there’s two things that don’t lie to you: Numbers and tape. I’ve been taught that since I was young, you go check that out. I feel like I’m undoubtedly the best player in college football.”

Vanderbilt had a 10-2 record on the year, ranking No. 14 nationally at the end of the season.

Researchers identify unexpected bread variety that may relieve digestive troubles

Having digestive issues? While experts often caution that eating bread will make these issues worse, there’s an exception.

British researchers published new guidelines earlier this fall about foods that can relieve constipation.

King’s College London said in a news release that the research is the “first-ever evidence-based dietary guidelines for adults with chronic constipation.”

EASY NUTRITION TWEAK COULD TRANSFORM YOUR SLEEP — STARTING THIS EVENING

The main recommendations are kiwi, mineral water and — surprisingly — rye bread.

“Our guidelines found that there simply isn’t enough evidence to suggest [that fiber] actually works in constipation specifically. Instead, our research reveals some new dietary strategies that could indeed help patients,” study author Eirini Dimidi said in the October news release.

“At the same time, we urgently need more high-quality trials to strengthen the evidence on what works and what doesn’t.”

Rye bread’s high fiber content “sets it apart from other breads,” said Dr. Roshini Raj, a New York City-based gastroenterologist (she was not involved in the study).

“In this study, they compared rye bread to white bread, and only rye bread helped constipation,” Raj said.

“White bread is low in fiber and also contains refined flour, which can worsen constipation.”

Raj said rye bread also contains both soluble and insoluble fiber.

This all helps “both stool consistency and stool frequency by adding bulk to the stool and drawing water into the intestine.”

The “Gut Renovation” author also noted that rye contains iron, magnesium, zinc and B vitamins, which support everything from energy production to immune health and cognitive function.

For those choosing to add rye bread to their diets, Raj cautioned that it should be done slowly, as it can cause bloating.

“There are many high-fiber foods, not just rye bread — so aim to get a variety to ensure you are not only getting fiber, but other nutrients as well,” she said.

“Increasing water intake is also helpful for constipation.”

Debra Muth, a naturopathic doctor (ND) based in Wisconsin, who was also not involved in the study, added that rye “stabilizes blood sugar, keeps you full longer, feeds the microbiome and delivers minerals your body actually needs.”

She added, “Most breads today are made from refined flour that’s been stripped of fiber, so they make constipation worse, rather than better.”

“Rye is different. It’s higher in fiber, lower on the glycemic index and far more gut-friendly. It’s one of the few breads that actually supports motility instead of shutting it down.”

To start eating more rye bread, Muth recommended rye toast — but look out for real rye bread made with rye flour, she said, not wheat bread that’s been dyed brown.

“It’s important to investigate why you’re constipated in the first place,” she added.

“Yes, constipation is inconvenient, but it’s a signal. Your body is telling you something’s off.”
